Scratching my head all this time: The Labor Day Edition

Well, it’s time. It’s time to get the unofficial ending of Summer 2022 into a box for storage. What it really means that the vacation season is closing up shop, the kids are going back to school, folks are legitimately trying to go back to work, colleges are ready for Football, NFL is coming out with the 53 players, and the Midterms are two months away for voting for Governor, US Senators, referendums, etc. That’s normal. But in between, racism and white supremacists are still out there trying to separate folks from fact and so called fake news of the opposition, Roe V. Wade is still out there in protesting, already the awareness month of September is full effect, the UMC/GMC is still deciding to see if the makeshift of divorce is potentially planned, Oh, the clash between college and trades are getting boring, the jobs are still out there even more in interest, student loans could be obsolete, and many others including those files from the National Archives that Trump took could bite him in the butt, harshly! But then again, I’m scratching my head again…

Who thinks that this Summer went too darn fast?

Is wearing white after Labor Day is really a bad thing?

So, it seems Mar-A-Lago is a site of secrets from the Government. What else 45 was hiding?

My Take: After the Wisconsin Midterms. But also, the real work starts now!

Ok so now we are about two days removed from one of the most talked about midterms in history, I like everyone else is bone tired from the ads and also the get it over with the mentality of getting through with this election!

I think in this, Wisconsin had made another historical feat of this election. Yes, I said it!

So, answer me this Wisconsin folks what do you think was the determining factor of this midterm election? I’m going to say this I believe that the most common, and the most interesting and the most determining Factor was when Tony Evers and Scott Walker were in the dead heat of the governor’s chair. And eventually, it had a lot of twists and turns along the way. I had to admit, it was a lot of twists and turns in which that ultimately led to this one final decision that Tony Evers eventually won the election over Scott Walker. Man, we have to ask, how did Tony Evers pull this off? I mean for real how did he pulled this off? If you have been following the Tony Evers connection, you would have known that number one, Tony Evers is well known in Wisconsin. Particularly as a state superintendent of the schools. And two, that his supporters who wanted him to run kept it on the real down low. So yes, he worked like a ninja!

While on the other end, we all know by now that Mandela Barnes will be the new Lt. Governor for the State. On this point, he will be the FIRST African-American Male to hold that position. EVER. Wisconsin in its 170 years as a State in all, has NEVER had a black person to hold a position of Governor or Lt. Governor. I’ve asked in the past, when will Wisconsin have someone from the Black Community to be Governor or close to it? Well, it appears that the Lieutenant Governor part is done, but next in the future, the head Governorship is well in reach. Oh yeah, I’ve met Mandela on several occasions and yes he is an alum of my alma mater, John Marshall High School in Milwaukee. Speaking of that: when word got out that Evers and Mandela won, yes I shared the news article on my alma mater’s Facebook Page. There were about over 100+ likes on the Milwaukee Marshall HS Alumni page and yes there were many positive vibes. However, there’s always that one member that had to say something negative and dumb. The commenter brought about Mandela and this thing about “ratchet parties”.

In 2009, there was an advertisement on Facebook about this event called, “Vicky Parties” It was a lingerie party. And yes, Mandela’s name was attached to the event. Plus, he was just 22 years old. Now OK, a lot of us who are older than 22 years old can obviously say “well when I was 22, I didn’t do those things. I kept out of trouble and worked hard after college in all that.”

Don’t get me started! Yes, I was 22 also, and the thought about me going to ratchet parties was not even thought about. And guess what, at 22 I was still in college. A technical college in Milwaukee. Had a job working between classes in all and still living with my parents. So what? But in the case of Mandela Barnes though, this story that happened in 2009 means nothing! And yes the commenter on the Milwaukee Marshall Alumni Page ain’t saying nothing else about this 9-year story that MEANS NOTHING! Was Mandela arrested? Did he get booked? Was he even suspended without pay? Fined? What was the crime for this?! There were no booking papers. No arrest warrants. None of that. So what was the real crime here?! That story then and now means nothing and it’s still nothing. For all those who feel that especially that fool on Marshall’s Alumni Page thinks that this incident or story is not appropriate for him to serve the people of Wisconsin, you need to check 45 about him grabbing women by the Vagina Parts in all and oh, he won 2 years ago. Why is Trump NOT IN JAIL?! I’ll never know.

With them being the big winners in the State, the challenge of them will come up in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 to battle the now Republican-led Assembly that might limit powers of the Governor’s position out of the mouth of Speaker Robin Vos. And others who feel that it should have been Walker all the way. Well, this I think “power decrease idea” of Robin Vos is a high crime that needs to be broken because this is the same group of fools that were in favor of driving the way of the High-Speed Rail, budget repair bills, bragging about the 250,000 jobs (which NEVER HAPPENED) busting up Unions that was fairly well respected, slashing Education funding, Foxconn, not letting Hard Rock build a casino in Kenosha and many other blunders that the soon to be former Governor Numb Nuts had messed up! And the barrier of this, many of this really started in Milwaukee where Walker was using computers on company time as County Executive. Oh, don’t you remember that? This soon to be former Governor was just that: dumb! And this is the same guy was going around with his high school diploma and failing college out of Marquette University? This guy?!

So after 8 dismal years of pain, in the state of Wisconsin: Walker IS DONE! He along with Rebecca Kleefisch (a former Milwaukee Channel 12 reporter mind you) can pack their bags and leave Madison. They have done their damage and yet they can go. Let them get their lack thereof acknowledgments and all and after that: BE GONE!

Now I want to shift gears here: I need to talk about the role of African-Americans and this disdain of one person’s opinion of being black and voting should not be vital. Press play.

Black Conscious Folks: shut your mouths! I’m just listening to Roland Martin’s segment on Tom Joyner’s Morning Show. And a lot of us have been telling other black folks that we shouldn’t be voting and such.

If many of us on social media got these so-called conscious folks that have no endgame, no purpose, no goals, always pointing the finger at others but not themselves, thinking they are all smart and such other things: let them go! Take them off your lists, your contacts, your buddy lists and get them off your life right now! You don’t need some so-called conscious fool who thinks like Malcolm X or an Original Black Panther telling you not to vote and it doesn’t have a goal for political objectives. You all who have them on your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Snapchat, and countless others: Delete them! Take them off the list. They are not worth talking to.

All of our lives, politics have been in us. From the Cradle to the Grave. It’s going to impact all of us. And it still does. So I don’t want to hear some fake conscious dude about “oh don’t vote, there is no black agenda….” Look here: If you want a black agenda you need to step up your game and actually work to create one! Why don’t you create one that could benefit the valor of the BLACK COMMUNITY?! Oh yeah, we know it, BUT how long can it be valuable?

Black folks, I know we are conscious proud people. No question. But again, we need to stop listening to all these fake conscious negroes that telling us about this disdain about not voting and other stuff. And that goes for following folks on your Social Media lists who feel that all Pastors are evil wearing Fake Jesus Shirts being a demigod. Or believing that so much about them and not about many. They don’t have an answer. Just opinions. Bad opinions!

Well to conclude, Wisconsin: we got work to do. In the words of our state motto: FORWARD!

Scratching my head all this time: Before Halloween strikes!

You know where I’m going with this. It’s about a week before the Midterm Election, Black conservatives sucking up to 45, literally. Obama tried to tell you. And oh, you still have those Halloween Blackfaces on? It’s time to take it off! But then again, I am scratching my head though while many are getting spooked!

So the so-called rise of the Black Conservatives has finally found 45 to like him. Oh, wait a minute, haven’t they sold their souls yet? You can believe what you want, but if you want to side with a man that has hate on Puerto Rico, building the wall, withdrawing peacekeeping sides with the world, calling the African Nations S-hole countries, hating on the Veterans, and still assuming that he built the economy to be strong than crediting Obama, then go ahead, BUT you will be checked!

Is this midterm election is the last election for Scott Walker in Wisconsin?

I feel that this idea needs to come forward in helping us! We can read the other books on introversion, but what about black introversion concerning us black people? Start writing and researching!

Now I know that the Jewish Synagogue in Pittsburgh was the latest target of the shooting that killed 11 people with one of the 11 being around 97 years old. SERIOUSLY! What is happening here?! Don’t tell me that this not new! And for you non-religious folks talking smack on religion in all, this is not the time! Keep your mouth shut! We never knew them, their likes, interests in all. Shut your traps.

My Take: This “beef” about Dr. Umar Johnson and Roland Martin is just that: DUMB!

Oh, let me go in on this mess. There were fireworks on TVOne this past week via News One Now. Take a look:

 

Ok. This is for all the “Dr. Umar Johnson Conscious Maniacs” out there: stop the pain. I repeat, STOP THE PAIN!

For the last couple of days, you all have been so out of character about the “beatdown” that Dr. Umar Johnson got on News One Now this past week. I’ve seen your comments on Roland Martin’s page on Facebook, and the utter disgust that many of you called him a COON all because in your viewpoints, that Dr. Johnson got the hard questions hit at him on Roland’s Show. Oh that’s right, Dr. Umar Johnson is in a public spotlight. Of course he’ll called out on his lineage to Frederick Douglass and his family. Of course of course he got called out on the comments about black men marry white women and the distain about when the black men are out doing other things for other people, they forget that the women they know need help too: The black woman. Of course many have called him out on the subjects at hand. Even about Tim Wise and others. And his degrees! Really folks?

But this past week and even today, many of you still are calling out Roland to make that apology to Dr. Umar Johnson. Are you done now? Can Roland do his job and get on with his journalism and his frat life in the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity? Can he get on with his TVONE News One Now Life, his family life? Can he do that please? Maybe I think Roland and this is just my opinion only, personally does not need to apologize. Period. Or maybe in a sense he does need to apologize to the fans of him and Umar. But here’s the thing that many of you Umar fans need to know: WE GET CALLED OUT EVERYDAY! How many of you reading this blog that are fans of Dr. Umar Johnson and get called out everyday at your jobs, your households, your families, your friends, your pookies and nee-nees at the the family reunion? Let that sink in, as our younger folks would say.

Hey, I get called out. Where was the help on that? Hello?!!!!

CALLOUT: Let’s be honest, this will pass in two to three weeks. And after that, what’s next?

There are a lot more stuff happening in the black community than worrying about Dr. Umar Johnson being roasted on News One Now. Like really. When are we going to call out black unemployment? Our black health? Our black employment? Our black entertainment? Our black melanin popping stuff? Our various causes in our communities? Our education and finance? Our so-called true level of consciousness that many of us don’t have, or abuse and use? Even our black churches that don’t do enough than those that do enough? Our clubs, organizations, and even US? I would rather worry about those, and call out those causes than this silly crap between a black man who is a Pan Africanist and a Black Journalist asking those “TOUGH TOUGH” questions. Has Roland been called out before? I assume he has. But knowing him, he defends his record. All the time. We see it on social media everytime. I’ll bet many are like, “man Stephen you like Roland Martin so much, do you? All up in his fanbase and junk”. Well, maybe. I may not agree with Roland all the time, but he does have pointers to think about.  And that doesn’t need calling out.

But yo, we got bigger fish to fry for sure. Why don’t we Hotep that?

 

My Take: Roots Reboot and I like Snoop. But…….

For the 4 nights, the History Channel has been showing the revamped and still traditional version of Roots. The still saga of Alex Haley’s novel that has been read by generations of folks. If you are so way younger than me, you might not know what I’m talking about. Go to the library, or Amazon, or B&N Bookstore to get the book. Oh while you’re at it, buy the DVD’s.

For the four nights, we’ve seen all four parts of this thing, and even though that this wasn’t the original that came out after the year of my birth, the story of parallels with Kunta Kinte, Kizzy, Chicken George and others had not left. Us older cats we know the story like clockwork. Many of us can relate in some sort of way of the heartbreak of slavery, being separated from families, and being shackled, branded, whipped, controlled and many other horrible actions. We already know. But some of us, needed a constant reminder that these words of “The Struggle Continues”.  Does that ring a bell?

Now there are those had to argue that this reboot is not necessary. No need for it. But then again there are those feel is necessary because when the original came out, you millennials weren’t born! Sorry to say it. But now since you’ve gotten your firepower and advice from us proud Generation X Folks, you also have to be advised of this stuff is.  Some of you probably got the message. But others, have you?

I really hope that this “Roots Reboot” or the second format has you on your thinking skills that it’s not all glamour and glitzy. Many of our people had through pain and discomfort and split up from the ashes. This is no romance novel! This is a lesson that probably needed to be retold to every generation of black folks. Like what our grandparents and your great great greats have done for years! Don’t trip on this.

Now I know that many don’t like the reboot. Particularly one individual in mind: Snoop Dogg. Don’t get me wrong, I may like some of his swagger, and his younger cousin Sasha Banks is a great Women’s Wrestler, but here is one thing I have to say that his “opinionated commentary”, was for the birds.

Look here, you got a guy here had females with dog collars on for a show, blunts, gang past, making porn for flicks, oh don’t forget that when Pac and Suge Knight were examined after Las Vegas, everyone was like 20 years ago: Snoop better watch himself! This was way after Death Row records was very examined. Even after Tupac’s death.

But his recent rant is about the Roots reboot, and making a statement of protest. And some are saying that he’s thinking what everyone is thinking. All over Facebook and Social Media, I see this alot: WE’RE TIRED OF SLAVE MOVIES!!!!

CALLOUT: I need to ask and excuse my French: Who in the hell is WE?!! WE Who?!

I’m not on this so called “we” bandwagon here.

And alot of folks went after Roland Martin the way he after Snoop. If you missed what he said, go on his Twitter Time Line, or his Facebook Page. And folks called him a Coon. Wow black folks. I think the reason being, because Roland told the truth. Speaking of that, check this. Please check this!

And all the folks kept talking about these Hidden Colors movies that came out. Personally, I have not seen not one Hidden Colors movie documentary or whatever you call it. From what I’ve heard, it supposed to be this real truth documentary about what the history books or religion, or historical aspects didn’t tell you growing up. Are there other Black documentaries that tell you that?

Everybody on Facebook and Instagram or Twitter  is like: “watch Hidden Colors!” Or “Hidden Colors is the truth!”

Really?

If Hidden Colors is supposed to be this “truth of black viewpoints”, and if so vital, who funds the movie rights? Who funds “Hidden Colors” to be this “truth teller?”  And if “Hidden Colors is so cool right now, where I can I find it on Cable or Satellite? Like IFC? or some Independent Channel? The way folks parading around Hidden Colors online like a mean switch off the tree. That to me is like I’m being forced to watch it. Don’t call me a hater! For all you “Hidden Colors” fanatics that thrive on the flicks, I have an open REAL challenge for you: Provide me a CLEAR, CONCISE, and REAL SUMMARY about why I should watch it. Don’t give all the ghetto/slang opinionated thoughts! I’m too grown for that. Be real about it. Beat by beat. That is your homework assignment!

Everybody in the Black Community is saying like:

We are tired of slave movies!

I don’t hear the Jewish folks saying they are tired of the Holocaust. What do they say? Never forget. Sound familiar? I don’t hear none of our Chinese brothers and sisters hollering at what happened in June of 1989. Let me paint a picture for this: Tiananmen Square. Remember that? When that protest happened, and that one dude got ran over by a tank in Beijing? Hmm…….no complaints about that being forgotten. Everyone else has had problems with some sort of human erradication has never forgotten the pain nor feeling about the incidents. Even though it has not happened to them per se.

But when it come to our Black Concerns of Slavery or Black Dilemma, we’ve been told to forget about it. Get over it. Or in this case with Snoop: “F-Roots!” “F-Slavery!” “We need to show the positive stuff of what is going on with our people now!” I hate to say with all due resepct to Calvin Broadus, although it’s vital we need to show our black folks all the positive stories, WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET WHAT GOT US HERE! EVEN if it’s lynchings, slavery, racism, sexism or many other isms that is indeed slavery related! Paritially in the mini series, there were some Africans that did captured the folks and put them on the ships. Bet folks didn’t see that.

Again: same slogan of complaint, “We are tired of slave movies!” Guess what I’m tired of? Let me count the ways.

• I’m tired of folks whom look like me being the enemy.
• I’m tired of black women at times saying that all black men at Sh…..You know I don’t use that word.
• I’m tired of all the whining that most are getting out of Milwaukee because of the violence, but knowning that VIOLENCE IS EVERYWHERE!
• And I’m definintely tired of the whining of those who keep voting up for the candidate of choice and complain!
• I’m tired of folks especially telling black men to go to the Doctor! WE KNOW!
• I’m tired of those who feel to have this “High School Attitude” that they think they are still fresh like high school. Won’t work honey!
• I’m tired of the Extroverted folks ALWAYS getting on the case of the Introverted being quiet. And having to apologize for it.
• I’m tired of white folks telling black folks to “get over it.” When the talk of slavery happens. WHY?
• I’m tired of the almost 70% black women that are still single with a mean streak of saying there are no good black men.
• I’m tired of folks telling black folks that we aren’t enough. WE ARE ENOUGH!
• I’m tired of folks who pass up their lineage of history. Family History. Am I right black folks? We do it to ourselves sometimes!
• I’m tired of companies passing up applicants whom got all the credentials the right way, then hired the young hot chick or dude with NO EXPERIENCE!
• I’m tired of companies who don’t accept new talent but make it harder for those to apply!
• I’m tired of companies that don’t retain as much for seasoned vets that wants to learn and become viable! Like learning new technology over 40 without being kicked off.
• I’m tired of companies judging folks because of their credit reports!
• I’m tired of these job developers telling folks “you better not come back here if you can’t find a job” like 2004. Remember that Milwaukee Urban League?!
• I’m tired that single folks are getting the shock treatment of pressured being married.
• I’m tired of the old school traditional folks, thinking that distance education doesn’t work. It worked for me!
• I’m tired of looking at all the bad stats about Milwaukee on Facebook. Um, what is the solution?! I’ll wait!
• I’m tired of folks who don’t vote.
• I’m tired of Scott Walker and the republicans coming up with all these stupid laws to get us afraid.
• I’m tired of companies that don’t hire, or train, or retain African-American workers.
• I’m tired of the folks saying the chruch is full of hyprocrites. Have you checked your hangouts and jobs for hyprocrites? They got them too!
• I’m tired of all these Carjackings in Milwaukee now. Everytime I hear about these stories, reminds me of my late cousin Adrian Drew being killed all over again!
• I’m tired of these Animal Activists praising the memory of Harambe the Gorilla, but not the child that was not harmed.
• I’m tired of all the talk and no bark!
• I’m tired of all this stuff that single folks are lonely. We’re not!
• I’m tired of phone numbers calling you and they are scamming your money!
• I’m tired of folks whom should feel about looking at the movies that it’s all flashy.
• I’m tired of all the mess that our schools/colleges are getting into.
• I’m tired of all the mess that churches have to deal with. And I’m not talking about the what goes on the inside!
• I’m tired of those who think that Black Lives Matter is a farce.
• I’m tired of fake memes on social media that makes no sense. I went there!
• I’m tired of all the mess that neighborhoods and cities that must deal with violence and break ins!
• I’m tired what I can’t watch and read in my own home, but I’ll do it anyway.
• I’m tired of collection agencies harrasing folks for money.
• I’m tired of family members putting you down and thinking you’re sensitive!
• And the lasting thing I’m tired of: no love for ourselves. Yeah I said it!

That is what I’m tired of!

Even the devil getting busy in our minds to corrupt our communites!

Shall I go on?

Like my mother used to say I’ll give you something to cry about! Many are tired of all the slave movies. But I’m tired too. Of something else. Learn that, Snoop fans.

Folks have been saying also: what about the movies before slavery? You all better get onboard. I’ll bet many have been saying that for a long time. Which is nothing new. And I’ll bet there is a director, or producer, or writer that is somewhat is getting ideas to write about someone from that era that was before slavery. So is this will make thousands happy? Or in this case, will this be satisfied? Or better yet will all those whom are VERY CONSCIOUS will finally put their MONEY where their mouths are to support?

I got five words for that: Put up or Shut up!

This was coming: Sheriff Clarke gets grilled, this time on NewsOne Now

I think I got my wish, as well as the rest of the African-American Community Nation.

Finally, Sheriff David Clarke has come to black talk TV. And this time, it’s in front of the Black TV audience. And the thing is: I don’t want to spoil this, but the Second Black Sheriff in Milwaukee County History got straight grilled by News One Now host Roland Martin. While many of us and of course many in Milwaukee were at the job, this happened. And it was coming!

For those who don’t know much about News One Now or Roland Martin, you really need to pay attention. For all those who voted up for Clarke way back when, or recently, or if you live the suburbs that voted up for Clarke, it’s time to listen and ask, did I really thought that the Sheriff was so votebale?

After listening to the entire podcast interview, it is very very clear that the second black sheriff in the county is clear out of sync. Nevermind his accomplishments from the Naval Academy and others, Milwaukee is the the guy that many of you put in office is worth all the words he expressed about this? Milwaukee’s Black Community: is this the worth just because he’s black? Get off the da*n high horse!

Plus also I hope MANY in Milwaukee, especially in the black community will get a chance to listen to Roland Martin’s Podcast Interview of Sheriff Clarke. And just to be aware, Uncle Ro-Ro pulls no BS in his interviews on a Black Network like TVOne. Even with Sheriff Clarke! So for all you Conservatives, Liberals and also those in the mix on Sheriff Clarke’s side, just a heads up.  And just for the record, Roland Martin is not a Democrat or a Republican. He’s just him.

I hate to say but Sheriff Clarke may have slid by on the other networks, but he has not (and I mean NOT) slid by on TVOne’s News One Now, a black network there are no themes of Fifth Amendments. This is not Fox News or MSNBC or even Al Jazeera. Expect to come out and back your stories like you bet on Vegas. I’m just saying.

Plus also I want all the black media in Milwaukee (from the radio, blogs, internet sites, Black Milwaukee/Wisconsin Social Media Groups, newspapers like the Community Journal or the Milwaukee Times or Courier, or any other black Badger related media) to summarize this interview knowingly that the rest of America does now know about Sheriff Clarke and his “so-called point of views” of his political observations that feels that the Black Lives Matter Movement are in his words sub-human creeps. Or about Police Brutality was ended back in the 60’s in which that is STILL FALSE! Police brutality does exists. Any type of Police Brutality does exist. Read the files. Even if you graduated from the Naval Academy. Nothing against that, but just stating.

A Three Way Dance: Jay Z/Harry Belafonte, Scott Walker is no FDR! And that Cat Scratch Fever is so played out.

It’s time once again for that deadly Three Way Dance. I’m going to go three way as usual with my takes on the Jay Z/Harry Belafonte angle. I have to say something about that, even though I like some of his joints. Plus Scott Walker thinks he’s FDR. NOT! And the infamous Ted Nugent and a racist he already is, and have to strike, yet again against African-Americans.

For the battle of respect. – This is how I see Jay Z and Harry Belafonte. Both have and had successful careers, philanthropy, and only one of them has had experience of being on the front lines of Social Responsibility. What got this on was when last year, Harry Belafonte had to comment about those of now in the music game don’t get involved in social activism, or civil rights as much. We remember what Harry said, right? Well here’s a refresher course of what he said:

And I think one of the great abuses of this modern time is that we should have had such high-profile artists, powerful celebrities. But they have turned their back on social responsibility. That goes for Jay-Z and Beyonce, for example. Give me Bruce Springsteen, and now you’re talking. I really think he is Black.

Remember that? And many thought that a legend like Harry Belafonte was disrespecting Jay Z and Beyonce. Not quite. In the minds of true Jay Z and Beyonce fans probably were saying something like “this old dude gonna dis Jay and Beyonce?! and this Social Responsibility?!! WTF he think he is? He lost his mind!!” Now In response: yes Jay Z did in fact replied on both fronts in his music and the news as usual:

I’m offended by that because first of all, and this is going to sound arrogant, but my presence is charity. Just who I am. Just like Obama’s is. Obama provides hope. Whether he does anything, the hope that he provides for a nation, and outside of America is enough.” He continued, “Just being who he is. You’re the first black president. If he speaks on any issue or anything he should be left alone… Of course we want to challenge him to do better. I felt Belafonte he just went about it wrong. Like the way he did it in the media, and then he big upped Bruce Springsteen or somebody. And it was like, ‘whoa,’ you just sent the wrong message all the way around…Bruce Springsteen is a great guy. You’re this Civil Rights activist and you just big upped the white guy against me in the white media. And I’m not saying that in a racial way. I’m just saying what it is. The fact of what it was. And that was just the wrong way to go about it.”

And a far as the rap: Straight from the Magna Carta Holy Grail, and the song Nickels and Dimes:

“I’m just trying to find common ground/ ‘Fore Mr. Belafonte come and chop a n*gga down/ Mr. Day O, major fail/ Respect these youngins boy, it’s my time now/ Hublot homie two door homie/ You don’t know all the sh*t I do for the homies.”

FLAG ON THE PLAY!!!! WHOA TIME OUT!

Let me just say this. Yes, Jay Z is doing charity work besides The Brooklyn Nets Basketball team, and RocNation Sports. According to the Look to the Stars Website: Jay Z has donated to the following organizations in which are recognizable thus far:

• Artists for Peace and Justice
• Boys & Girls Clubs of America
• Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS
• GRAMMY Foundation

• Music for Relief
• PlayPumps
• Red Cross

Now this isn’t bad. Yes, Jay does give back. In a charitable sense. But I don’t see any Social Responsibility or Activism causes. And I think this was Harry Belafonte’s call out to Jay Z. In his rap lyric, Jay Z called Harry Belafonte a “boy” and having him to move over and let the young folks run the ship. That is like asking the team to punt the ball to many times and run a play without any experience or guidance. Plus the other team will score and win the game. First: let’s us remember that Harry Belafonte was one of the artists who was on the front lines for social responsibility when Dr. King was ALIVE! I was reading Roland Martin’s Facebook page and his tweets about those who are younger need to respect those who paved the way. Oh yeah there were some defenders on the site, but mostly it was saying that Harry Belefonte had a point in a reason to call him out . Harry Belafonte is in his 80’s. And still doing the activism thing. In other words, he is in the long haul. Not the short term crap that those like to be in it for two weeks or less. And partially again seems to be the problem! Just like I mentioned in my last blog about the short terms vs long terms in this 21st Century era. Now Jay Z talks about his “presence is charity”. With all due respect to Jay but, Guess what? Martin Luther King had a presence. Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, Sidney Poitier, and many others who weren’t just entertainers but also Social Activists had or have presence. I was also noted on Roland Martin’s Facebook Time Line about when Harry Belafonte was in a restroom at a urinal,  a cop telling him with a gun to his head “One more drop and you’re dead.” Or cited an event in a Chicago hotel, where he sold old a packed room. Despite of him (Harry Belafonte) not to perform. But a New York Headquarters was notified and Harry Belafonte was the first black performer to enter that front door to the Chicago Hotel. Yes, many artists today sold out Madison Square Garden, and many other venues for Rap or R&B per say, but Harry’s “presence” going in was nothing to be copied! Now that is presence!  Or even having a suitcase full of cash along with Sidney Poitier, to give to the freedom riders in the south, while being chased by the KKK. They did it! And survived! I dare anyone in the music game right now to learn this! Either Locally (Milwaukee) or well known in America or Internationally! And about his rap comment above, is Jay Z really telling Harry Belafonte to step out of the way and let the young cats run the show? I hope he’s not serious! Matter of fact, I’m not surprised. I’ve heard this too many times. If I were to tell my parents to step aside and let me and my older sibling to take over, that is a sign of disrespect!

Many today in the now era, don’t know how to wait for their turn. It’s sad also that Jay Z and Beyonce (with all respect) has a daughter they’re’s raising, and I wouldn’t image if Blue Ivy Carter one day would say to some of us “soon to be old Gen X’ers” to get out of the way and let the new school run the show. Many companies, in the past and presently, have dealt with the exchange of the veterans and rookies commanding the ship. This reminds me of those who graduated this year, and also years past coming out of college. And yes, those coming out of college usually don’t have the experience of a veteran worker of 20+ years. And plus those who are young and up in the work game, must understand that they have to work their way up, not skip those in a disrespectful manner! Long time ago, some of your companies who you are probably working for right now, making the paper, had some issues of letting younger folks and the older folks out in terms of “we got to get younger!” We’ll take out Ole Willie who’s been around for 30 years replace him with Pookie and them, so we can show our groups and customers, that we can attract younger folks. BUT there is a problem. Many don’t have the experience! And they want the older folks get out the pasture? Just like that? Warning to the companies, that might backfire!

I want to address the Generation Y and the Millennial folks right now and only them on this: It takes respect to get respect! You have to learn to wait your turn and be patient. It’s that simple. You’re not going to get ahead in the world per say, with the tales of telling us Gen X’ers or the Baby Boomers, or maybe the Greatest Generation from WWII to get out of the way. That is truly disrespecting them. And also ME! Why I’m putting myself in this? I’ve been told this years ago. Matter of fact, I was just like you wanting my turn now! But it doesn’t work that way. You have to climb that ladder the right way in order to get to the top. And yes, you will be disrespected. But for a reason to get challenged. I got challenged. And still getting challenged by those who want a black guy like me to step up my game to the next level. Not the next level in my craft, but the NEXT LEVEL in an spot that has not been conquered! There was a time, in my old high school (and I mentioned this) that I laughed at subject that had meaning. But after realizing that subject, I would be coming back to the school for visits as an Alum. Real Talk as what is being said now. So technically, you may not like Harry Belafonte, but give the respect where respect where it’s due. In a Civil Rights/Social Activist/Entertainer sense! Respect the game, young thundercats!

If Jamie Foxx had to come to realization that “it’s not all about him”, then can Jay Z do that? He expressed that this year at the NAACP Image Awards.

Now the Wisconsin side of things, currently the state has the National Governors Association meeting underway in progress. And yes Scott Walker is at the helm in this meeting of all of the governors that came near and far. The thing in all of this that he believes he compares himself to FDR, as in Franklin Delano Roosevelt. EXCUSE ME!!!!! FDR, PLEASE! This high school diploma, college dropout Governor of ours IS nowhere near the results or experience of FDR. Many of the policies I think that FDR laid out in his tenure as President, would make most folks want to copy and folks want to take down. Research the New Deal. – The same new deal that included African-Americans in which the acts of Social Security, Civilian Conversation Corps, he also worked with the NAACP in relation to dealing with the cases of police brutality, lynching and voting rights abuses. – Hmmm, And I wonder why America has a problem with this, and don’t get me started on Voting Rights Abuses. The Walker folks as we know had done the redistricting the voting areas in making it harder to get to the polls. And the thing I have realized that these so-called Tea Party Republicans want to undo some of the things that FDR set up years back. For a guy with a High School Diploma and no college degree/being a drop out from Marquette University, is completely clueless of trying to be FDR. GOVERNOR PLEASE! Scott Walker will NEVER BE A Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Period. I’ll bet that he won’t put that in his potential bid for his “run” for 2014 or 2016.  And I’ll bet the Democrats (real democrats) would get after him like white on rice! FDR had real talk. And comprised of real issues and ideas. Scott Walker on the other hand: please. Walker would be schooled big time if FDR would meet him head on. And that schooling would not be taking place in a classroom or a college dorm! Just out of curiosity, if the governors from the other 49 states have a high opinion of Wisconsin, what would they say? I mean they are meeting a guy who already slashed funds for Healthcare, High Speed Rail, let go of Act 10 and most of the Union Collective Bargaining rights. Plus, can someone from the other states remind him of those so-called 250,000 private sector jobs?  As well as forcing women to do ultrasounds? Raise your hands if your sure.

As far as the “Cat Scratch Fever” is concerned: Ted Nugent is a fool! A draft dodger who doesn’t care much about African-Americans. Still on the commentary in regarding Trayvon Martin. And still on the commentary about comparisons between African-Americans, and storm clouds?!!! What the heck is he talking about? STORM CLOUDS?!!! Really?!! This is what he said as reported on the Huffington Post:

“If a Dalmatian has been biting the children in the neighborhood, I think we’re going to look for a black-and-white dog,” he said. “I think that typically when you see the — I don’t even remember the term they use — but the gangs of blacks lately that have been just been going down the downtown streets and breaking windows on cars,” Nugent continued. “Over and over again, I watch the news, and here’s a rape and here’s a burglary and here’s a murder in Chicago. Twenty-nine shot, 29 blacks shot by 29 blacks. At some point, you’ve gotta be afraid of black-and-white dogs if the Dalmatian is doing the biting.”

I find this crazy. And plus he insist that he’s no racist and pay homages to Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley. And I’ll bet he’s one of the folks who say, (here it is) “I have a lot of black friends.”

OH STOP IT!  STOP IT! Out of bounds.

That comment/quote or statement will get you out of the club. No ghetto pass. None. Now if Ted Nugent has African-American friends who follow up, they better step to him quick and condemn him for the statements like that. What if his friends were to be profiled like dogs or having this storm cloud effect of being afraid? NOW WHAT? This dude, is like a dangerous animal that needs to be put to sleep. LITERALLY! And speaking of things to be put asleep, Nick Cannon’s interview with Ted Nugent. The comments that came out of Ted Nugent’s mouth, were actually from Nick Cannon’s podcast show. Now for all the Nick Cannon faithful out there, yes, I know he’s married to Mariah Carey, a host of America’s Got Talent, and yes he’s got skills of “Wild N’ Out” Plus a funny man on the “Real Husbands of Hollywood.” I get it. And yes dude got boat loads of cash. BUT……..THIS “podcast” featuring Ted Nugent is way out of his league! Sorry.

Pay attention what Joe Madison (aka the Black Eagle) had to say on this:

If you don’t know who Joe Madison is, you better check him out. And if you have Satellite XM Radio.  Joe Madison had to school him bad. Yeah, I read on his Facebook Page (Madison’s) that Nick is in a different generation and doesn’t see that like the older folks. WELL I have comment on that: This is not Nickelodeon. And it doesn’t matter who he’s married too! That don’t mean squat! I don’t care if you’re married to the decent of Golda Meir and having this respect of humanity, but still some folks will get called out foolishly based on race, creed, class, generation, gender, or preference. In other words, us Gen-Xers and up know this well:  back in school if you’re dressed differently, folks called you out. If you hadn’t the coolest shoes, you get called out. The type of music you like, and get slammed, will be called out by bullies. But those are small things. But against someone (who is African decent), and like Ted Nugent has been ranting for years, and even recent after President Obama came out his commentary of dealing with racism, it still resonates with a dilemma. And that talk about no real racism? – Check again.  And that needs “no generation thing” to get over.

Don’t get me wrong, Nick Cannon has game. But this game, he should have done his homework!

Part 4: A new Civil Rights Movement, and I dare to ask: Is supporting Trayvon Martin in a sense of support is worth LOSING your Social Media folks? – Some have happened.

I’m still on the ball of my commentary for this Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman angle. Yeah, we know. We know for good reason. Some of us are sick and tired, with the same ol’ cliche’ about why we can’t talk local, and always going to the national stuff. The Trayvon Martin murder trial or tribute with the hoodies, Skittles and Arizona Ice Tea is an ongoing thing. For those who just want to whine, Here’s a reminder: yes, Trayvon Martin was shot to death, and yes George Zimmerman got off Scot Free with not guilty. Now many are realizing that George Zimmerman’s life is not the same after pulling the trigger on Trayvon. Not only he murdered a black teenager, but he may have started a new Civil Rights Movement. Uh-oh. Talk about a wanted man. Like I said previously, George Zimmerman now has a “bounty effect.” On his head, his life, his family, his gun, and anything that he touches or connects with. Face it folks, for those who like George Zimmerman after what he did, that’s a cop out. Now as we know, it’s open season once again on unarmed African-Americans. We know also that on July 20th, 2013 will mark a 100 city protests/rallies across the country in regarding this matter. If that movement does last another 2 or three or more years. There are those who think that the movement would last about 2 to three weeks. If those who are going to those rallies: PROVE THEM WRONG! I mean it. Prove them wrong to an extent that us U.S. Citizens who are just tired of this mess in our Justice System! Prove them wrong that us the U.S. Citizens who can hold our leaders, and those we put in office or many of our organizational leaders, accountable in regarding this matter. If we don’t, it’s on us. However in my last blogs, if the leaders or groups DON’T address or come up a plan, or to address the issues in general, we got the voting ballots on stat, and we’ll go with someone who will listen to US! No matter if they are republican, democrat, independent, libertarian, or constitutionalists. We see them. And I don’t care if it’s a green party person. Just saying! If one false move, they out!

Now: I want comment those who are on Facebook. Me also. Why is losing your facebook contacts are connected with this matter? Seriously?! I’m checking my news feeds, and one facebook connection that I got on my list was “unfriended” all because of his viewpoint about the case of George Zimmerman. Yes, many have mixed emotions about the case. My reaction was an utter shock. And I hope I wasn’t unfriended all because of this. Really?! I thought folks got unfriended because of pictures,  private decisions, or what was said that got them fired from a job or a group, but to unfriend someone because of this trial, is really stupid. REALLY?! Those on FB I ask, you want to unfriend folks all because the hate on Trayvon, or the Trial. Some of you who unfriended folks you used to have, maybe you don’t understand! You don’t get it. You haven’t had the bootstraps nor the boot prints to understand of relation. This is not some smoke and mirrors thing. This is the real deal. Now I see why folks were doing it. They all want folks to be on one accord. WRONG! Not everyone is going to agree or disagree with stuff like this all the time. Remember 1995? Sure you do. That’s when OJ Simpson got his not guilty verdict, and the white folks got mad. However us black folks were just jubilant that he didn’t go to jail at the time. But some were just still bitter about it, and yeah the same folks got their wish of him sent to jail. Oh check this: the late Michael Jackson in 2005. He had the not guilty verdict read to him 10 times and guess what, the same folks who got mad at OJ per say had to get mad at Michael all because his name and fame being Michael Jackson. That was that trial that had him accused of molesting a 13 year old boy, which we found out later after his death was a boldface lie to get his money! Ok, so Facebook wasn’t around at the time. But I’ll bet those who went to the yahoo boards back then had to vent. And it’s pretty sad that those had to do the “unfriendly” thing all because of the Murder Trial. Really?! I had to put that out because that is what happening here. They say be careful about choosing friends are, well that part is true.

Switching to the national stuff. I want to comment Melissa Harris-Perry’s viewpoint in all of this:

I had to say something here: this is Melissa Harris-Perry the real person. A mother who is concerned. This is not the #Nerdland queen, Professor at Tulane University, Speaker, nor the energetic sorority Sister Member of Delta Sigma Theta. This is Melissa Harris-Perry speaking (not shooting) from the heart. She talks about my race of black folks being not safe in America. I hear this all the time. Blacks (especially black men) are the endangered species. Those of you who are non-black and think it’s all smoke and mirrors: SCREW THE MINDSET! This is our reality! This has been our reality. Some of the folks can’t relate enough of why this happens. Many think they do. But do they really? Yeah, at 36 years old, I get bugged by my parents about where I’m going or where have I been. I do. I get it. Why? I’m their child! I’m their son. And for those who think that Melissa is doing this for a mouthpiece for Barack Obama, SCREW THE MINDSET! Like the line from Boyz in the hood: “Either they don’t know, or don’t know what’s going on in the hood”. I’ll bet folks who like the right wing media of Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter, and the washed up Rocker Ted Nugent will never understand. Yeah I said washed up. Look at him. I can’t forget Rush Limbaugh too. And guess what also: I hate to go there but this includes Larry Elder. This is not about Race baiting. This is addressing a concern that is been around for far too long. We know it. I know it. The Fulton/Martin family knows it. Rachel Jeantel knows it. The families of Darius Simmons knows it. Marissa Alexander knows it. Derrick Williams’ family knows it. Bo Morrison’s family knows it. My family, friends, classmates, church members, community knows it. But we know it very, very deeply. Screw with the sensitivity mess, this is real. Real racism as it’s worst. This has fueled a new era for Civil Rights. Already in the same year in which the voting rights act of 1965 was shot down by our Supreme Court, which gave the opportunity for African-Americans a shot of equality for this in terms of voting. But no…..the barriers got in the way after 2012, when majority of my culture voted more in a Presidential Election than any other election year that I can’t recall.

And Melissa had a question also: what do we tell our children? How can my folks be safe (who are mostly young) without getting stopped or getting racially charged out?  Again, I don’t have any kids. I’m a single African-American male that just wants to be successful like any other American in the country. I had to go the extra mile and still going the extra mile just to achieve that notion. But yes I had racism and haterism stumbled in my path. I had folks cursing at me on some occasions, not just because I’m black, but also different. That has been around since I was a child. Growing up in the Milwaukee Public Schools, and being spotted by folks who don’t care! I’ve been told by my parents that when the cops pull you over if your license plate expires, show them the papers to avoid a ticket. That happened to me and I survived. Smoke and mirrors they say? This is hard for me to write, but I’m unleashing it like a dragon in heat. Yeah, racism in America is still beating like a drum. At times we tried to figured out the rhythm. But like most things, it can change it’s tune for another beat, but the song will still be the same.

I pondered this also: how does a beat change for the better?  It’s not an easy fix. But it sure it takes a lot of study. And I just found out that the month of July, is National Black Family Month. I can’t think of a better subject in regarding this matter in order to ask why and how.

Part 2: The rage continues. And the issue of race still lingers on. Whether you like it or not, it is an issue.

In the recent events of the verdict, yes the issue of race still lingers. The verdict in which had sent George Zimmerman scot free is not only indicated rage and sadness, but also revisiting the thoughts of when Emmett Til, and Medgar Evers were killed. Both of their murders were taken to court and their results were not guilty. In the recent event regarding Trayvon Martin getting killed and a mostly white jury who some say just killed Trayvon yet again, this is a grave example of why I said in my last blog about justice needs to listen. Justice may have listen to George Zimmerman and those who favor him, but it has NOT and never will listen to Trayvon Martin. To hear a guy like Robert Zimmerman to go viral about Trayvon Martin deserved to be killed, is just pathetic. I’ve listened to the response. And I feel, as a African American Male is a load of B.S. Yeah I’m saying it!

On Twitter, there were many reactions of disbelief. For me, I said this:

That was my first reaction. I kid you not. Over on the other side, most of my Facebook connections expressed the same outrage, and some had to say that justice was served. Goldie Taylor’s reaction on Twitter, (MSNBC’s own) was simply this: “Open Season”. What does that mean for those who don’t understand? It means that those who have guns per say, can have the right to shoot and kill someone who are unarmed! At any time. At any place.  Even if they don’t have nothing! Even also if it involves young black men! Back in the 90’s I’ve heard the proverbial message of “black males are the endangered species”. I am an endangered species. Why? Majority of the black men you hear and see are either in jail or lying six feet under, or cremated, or in a crypt at a local cemetery. Am I fearful? Not really. But just being cautious. I kid no one. Many of this in the last few days have had us thinking and had me thinking, with all this castle doctrines, and all this stand your ground doctrines, this make me want to get a bulletproof vest. Or a get a desert eagle. A vest? Yes. A gun? No. I would rather get ninja stars, or a bow and arrow just get defensive. I would use martial arts or extreme pro wrestling to get my defense on. That’s just me. Speaking of getting off with guns, that didn’t work for Marissa Alexander. Remember her? Remember when she used her gun, her REGISTERED GUN, and fired it into the air and guess what? She is now getting 20 years behind bars for it. And this is a black woman. She didn’t shoot anyone. No one was hurt. But went to jail all because shooting bullets in the air in the state of Florida. Almost like a warning shot. Remember when I said that Justice needs to listen?

Get this, soon to be day analyst Roland Martin openly expressed his concerns via Twitter and Facebook while attending the 100th Anniversary of the founding of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in Washington DC.

And to add also, Casey Anthony killed her daughter Cailyee Anthony and was not charged. Talk about crazy freaking laws. If Casey Anthony were to be black per say, guess what would happen to her? Yep right in the slammer. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

Like many cities in the United States, yes Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin’s Madison have had or will have rallies in honor of Trayvon and those affected locally.  Even the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported this as well via video.

Many are comparing this to Rosewood in 1929. Anyone know about that? You should. Many those who reside in Florida should know. And yes it’s a relation history against blacks. Do the research. Many of the things that happened years ago is being revisited in a new twist. But this twist is far more deadlier than before. And I think this is where voting comes in to step up. I’m serious. We need to vote up BIG TIME! No more sitting back and letting the big elections always being the top stuff. Every election cycle is huge. Simply because, every vote counts no matter what. When 2014 gets here, and believe me it will be here before you know it, enough sitting at home thinking it won’t mean nothing. This has to mean something. This has to mean something that is bigger that hanging out on a Saturday night. Bigger than clubbing. Bigger than snagging up that man or that woman all because he dress so nice or rides that looks so good. Or hanging out in that group. Or like some  “Joe Schomos” that like to troll around on let say the Facebook Pages or Twitter Pages or Regular pages of Roland Martin or Melissa Harris-Perry. All they are doing is just asking for more ammunition. My advice for those who are on the pages without hating, if they get offensive: BLOCK AND REPORT! No one should be harassed on these social sites just for a punchline. No matter what age, or race they happen to be. Better get started. That’s all you have to do. Block those fools and report them. And if banning them is an option, I say ban them. Get their names, email, usernames, or check this, get them at their jobs! And if they are on youtube saying F**ck Trayvon, track them! I’m just saying. Yeah I know about them expressing that Freedom of Speech thing, but it’s about responsibility in which don’t possess.

This morning on WNOV in Milwaukee (yes, I listen to Sherwin Hughes) and on the panel he had Former State Representative Annette Polly Williams, columnist Eugene Kane and Milwaukee’s NAACP President James Hall. One of the things I picked up from the panel discussion, was  the verdict of votes, and strangely, a caller chimed in on the program and expressed that he cuts his lawn by using a gun. Plus if he saw young black boys in the area of his residence, he would pull what George Zimmerman did and shoot them. The caller was white. You mean to tell me that a person who cuts their lawn with a gun?! And admittedly that he would use it to kill unarmed folks? Seriously?! Remind me to stay out of that neighborhood. And as far as the verdict vote, I am not shocked there are those who favor the decision. Sheriff David Clarke, State Senator Chris Larson,  and Mayor Tom Barrett out of nowhere, all favored the verdict of Not Guilty. I don’t know if its wise of them to express that, but now, since it’s out there, they might have a backlash in term of elections. Even though they are Democrats and may not appeal to the Black Community based on their stances, but they really have to pay attention to the Black Communities of Milwaukee and Wisconsin alike, in regarding the issue of Trayvon Martin as well as others that have similar stances like Trayvon Martin. If they don’t pay attention, well we know where and how to vote. I’m just saying! If our leaders, civil organizations, Fraternity and Sorority folks, or any folk in the non-profits don’t have the guts to speak out against things like this, when the next election cycle comes, they are gone! VOTE THEM OUT! Get them out of office. If they can’t support that or address that as an issue of concern, then they have NO RIGHT, to be behind the desk or infront of folks addressing the community or the public! Remember that when going into 2014, and BEYOND!

Face it folks. This issue is not going away. No matter where you are. It will not cease. Yes I know that football season is on the rise. And I know that the issue of Baseball is still effect. And the issue of NSA leaks, Jay-Z’s Album of Magna Carta Holy Grail, and future elections. BUT this matter, regarding black males and the issue of the stand your ground laws, and the “what nots”, this will not be moved. The late Winston Churchill once said about the bulldog in his tenure. He commented that “The nose of the Bulldog has been slanted backwards so that he can breathe without letting go.” Well we in the African American Community need to take a page out of the Churchill playbook and breathe and not let go in our issues, our concerns and our objectives. Even if it concerns our black males being endangered. Me being a black male in my mid-30’s on the same angle. There were talks that race was not an issue. I say it was to an extent. Was Trayvon was profiled being suspicious? Absolutely. And I’ll bet 5 of the 6 jurors had to put that in play for George Zimmerman to walk off. Partially, that’s not surprising. We’ve read about this before. Remember what I said earlier about Emmett Til and Medgar Evers getting killed and the trials of their murders were at the final result of Not Guilty. Plus the murder of Jordan Davis in the same state of Florida was on the pulse in he was killed all because his music was too loud. And the dude that did the job will be going to trial in September. If he does get off after the verdict, no surprising. But if he Michael Dunn receives the guilty verdict, I would be surprised intent of being shocked.
