Yesterday in Milwaukee, our long waited talk about the Milwaukee Streetcar is over. The vehicle came in from Pennsylvania via a truck and it was parked downtown near the Post Office at around 11:30am . And yes, the interest “per se” was building due to a fight that lasted for over 2 decades in an idea to connect means of transportation in the city. It really started with former Mayor John Norquist.

Just to think, as of the newslinks, it’s been 60 years this month of March since a Streetcar last appeared in Milwaukee, and it’s here. Many of us under 60 years old only saw Milwaukee Streetcars in museums, books, displays of the past when Milwaukee was coming up. And yes after that, the buses came in for MCTS.

Now after all the debate, after all the madness, after all the protesting, after all the ideas that Potawatomi Hotel & Casino would pay for the first year and nicknamed the vehicle “The Hop” if you will, and many others: even my “letter” to the City of Milwaukee Common Council of making that big decision on this blog of the need of jobs in the city, NOW IT’S HERE! Lock it up with an iron clad and let it operate. And speaking of that, The Streetcar needs folks to work!

Now since it’s here, word is that the testing will continue for the rest of the year to make sure that it’s in place starting in April. We just can’t ride the thing out of the gate. And yes of course the naysayers will have their continued say. But like many things: it will all come around in time. In my view.

The Streetcar or The Hop may seem controversial, but like the book by Eric Bischoff which it titled promptly to a point: “Controversy Creates Cash.”

So let’s give this thing a chance. After all, is this a country of opportunity? Plus this should be some sort of small victory in Wisconsin after the blown coverage of the High Speed Rail being faulted by Scott Walker.

Follow the continued momentum via the streetcar website: https://www.themilwaukeestreetcar.com/

There will be more commentary to come.

Pardon my interruption during Black History Month 2018. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. And pardon your interruption of reading my old blogs that gain your interest.

On Valentine’s Day as we know that many of us (except for us Single folks) did have a “day of love” in all, plus seeing ashes on the foreheads on people from the Ash Wednesday Services. Yes, It’s the start of Lent that leads into the Good Friday/Easter Weekend coming up.

But on the 89th Anniversary of the worst Massacres in American History, in regarding the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in which Al Capone was the kingpin in Chicago, another massacre occurred. But it wasn’t in Chicago. It was in Parkland Florida. A school. Yes a school shooting occurred in Florida and according to the stats, this was the 18th incident this year, BUT the third shooting in this country this year. 2018 is still a young year thus far.

17 people were shot to death some were injured. And the part of that the shooter, Nikolas Cruz was a former student. In which the former student lost both of his parents, he stayed to himself and others. And of course he had fascination in which of a AR-15 was held in his hand shooting up the school.

And it begs the question: What is not (NOT) being done in the safety of the Schools in which we send our young people to learn Monday – Friday? This episode has been repeated so many times. And usually we have done nothing! All of course when this happens, we get the first off on the list, Our thoughts and Prayers are with the families, etc. Now many are hating “thoughts and prayers”. When we get to church on Sunday, and yes many will be in church on Sunday, you will hear the pastor or a lay speaker talk about this as you heard many times. And for those who don’t go, well, you know the routine.

Also, I need to say this. There is really nothing really wrong with “thoughts and prayers” at all. Period. No I’m not siding with 45 or anyone who says this. If you are in a situation that is bad and worst, of course there will be those who will be thinking about you when things like this happens. And the thing is, when we see this, yet again we’ll be asking the same story like question all over again. And again, we’ll be in the same boat like in 2 weeks. Oh speaking of that, when all this is behind us, we’ll be asking the same questions of what can be done to be safe in the schools. Same with the church and others: WE KNOW! It’s going to be in circles again. And we know this because it’s been happening repeatedly. I’m going to make a early prediction that this summer, when the kids are out of school the most: guess what? Some of them will die by gunfire. BOLD PREDICTION! Wait until the summer months comes and yes, many will be looking for programs and summer jobs. And of course, making the option to move. Oh yes you can move out of your currently city, but what happens when the violence or shootings follows you in your mind? And you rehash it EVERY SINGLE TIME?!

Folks: This is not new. And yes many of us are asking like: we got all this techno stuff of phones, computers, email, apps, Social Media, etc. Why didn’t that stuff work? We use for fun and important issues but NOT for protecting our children in school. At least some of that technology is useable to help counter the thought of shootings, rape, domestic violence, hazing, and many other intentions of negative actions.

Now, for those wondering, I don’t have any children. No kids. No teens. None. But yes, outlets are needed to protect them from harm and danger like the ones we see every time.

Right now the students in Florida are really speaking out. They are protesting. And even though many of them aren’t at the voting age, they’re determined to do the law changes that many times us grown folks tried due to false ideologies. We know what they are. The same stuff we grew up listening too.

We often say that kids and teens don’t care about the world around them, some actually know the deal of what’s going on! That’s like they don’t care about tradition. Don’t be surprised if they know tradition! All they have to do is go on that thing called Facebook or Twitter and they get their news there more than the evening broadcast. That’s just them. Others we get our news Online, Paper and TV.

I want all the young blogger readers to hear me on this. Older bloggers step away. Let the young readers in. You young dudes and girls now, whom are doing the protesting and speaking out, get involved in making a difference. We know that us in the grown zone nag on your social media stuff, your music or anything that pertains interests in your Generation. Other Generations can be haters too, but they been called out. Even Gen-X was and is being still being called out being slackers. Really? Many of us made a way of being successful. And to those didn’t believe in us, well keep talking. The more they hate Gen-X, the more fuel of missing out. More like being jealous.

Which brings me back to you young cats. I hope that your voices of what you said today, as of now don’t stop into your adulthood. There are those who will say, “it’s going to last about 2 weeks.” And it’s going to be forgotten about. I want you students of now, prove us wrong later on. I’m dead serious. If you want to change the laws of Guns or Gun Control or anything that’s violence related, you need to continue to speak out. You are more woke than the average folks who claim to be conscious. Keep holding it down. And represent.

Grown folks, hear the young folks of their concerns and dilemmas. But also they will know the truth. Even the truth that we are not telling them. And many of us know the feeling of well….”being lied to” alot.

If the acts of Congress doesn’t follow through: VOTE THEM OUT!

Here in Milwaukee, we also lost those who gave the city a voice, and a reminder:

My highlights of the year:

Well my highlights of  the year were as I acknowledged my 10th Anniversary as a worker of my church. I survived a decade with a pin. Also, I started and created a summer developers program that didn’t go well, but it was salvaged with a homework assignment. But the challenge of me as I indicated that I am as well as my family are going to the hard reality of the passing of my father. We still miss him. But not forgotten.

Sidenote: I appreciate the 23,615 hits on my blog. This is great, BUT: the “same old reading stuff” bubbles must be busted in 2018! I will find a way to do it, or maybe not. We’ll see.

Don’t be late in 2018!

Breaking news out of Milwaukee:

He resigned first. Then rescinded. And today August 31st, 2017 the announcement came this afternoon that Sheriff David Clarke announced his resignation and will officially be gone as of 11:59pm.

As proof, here is his letter as described from the County.

Milwaukee County, rejoice! He will be gone!

In my ongoing commentary in all this, many of us are still getting through the process in which the buzz of Charlottesville from all the backlash that weekend. And yes, ol’ Donnie hadn’t gone far enough to denounce the actions of the KKK, Neo-Nazi’s, and many other Hate Groups that subsequently, were empowered by “taking their country back” and making most of all the “white pride” being a weapon of hate. Oh yes, Donnie is weak. He says that we need to heal as a nation. But the healing of that needs to start with him and supporters alike. But we know that it wouldn’t happen!

OK: Now what is up with these monuments? All the monuments that we’ve been looking at since day one. The Robert E. Lee’s, the Jefferson Davis’, the confederate this and that. All these Confederate Monuments  that are now being taken down or off is now happening.  We heard too many times that these statues and monuments should be in the museums that can stay housed for all to see for the next generation who want to know who these figures were and why they had a hard time to unify the dang country. These figures were constructed and erected sometime after the years that the Civil War ended and mostly they are in the South. There are over 100+ confederate monuments and statues in the United States currently and some as of this moment have been taken down.

QUESTION: Should these Monuments be in Museums? Hold your answer.

Now many are complaining that if you take down a monument of a marker that had housed a well known confederate solider like Robert E. Lee, they are scrapping out part the American History.  That’s almost like taking a person who lives in a neighborhood, but never take the neighborhood out of the person. That’s is also like, yeah you can take a building that used to have drugs, alcohol, prostitution, racial dirty historical commentary hating black people and killing them, is being torn down, but when you build something else to replace it, that might be better. But historians will never forget what used to be BEFORE the building. So in comparison, with these statues and monuments of hate, they can be taken down and distributed in Museums. BUT NEVER FORGET: what was. I hate to be breaking the sensitive bubble but just saying.

CALLOUT: It’s been mentioned before, if these statues were that hateful, why were they weren’t moved or taken down when Obama was President for 8 years?! Let that sink in. Oh that’s right it’s a thing of keeping up with “Southern Heritage”. Nevermind.

Most recently, I was tuning into a radio broadcast of WNOV, yes the black station in Milwaukee. And it featured a story that had a Confederate monument in my homestate of Wisconsin. I’m not joking. You might be saying to yourself: WAIT, WHAT? Wisconsin had a Confederate Monument?! Really? Here is the featured story, from June of 2015. As we all know that Wisconsin was a Union state during the Civil War. Check out the site called “Iron Brigader”, or do a search called, “The Confederate Cemetery in Madison, Wisconsin”. I’m reading this article for the first time. And the thing that struck me out of the story was the fact that I had no idea, no iota that this existed in the state of Wisconsin. Never in my near 41 years living in the Badger State I knew that. The story summarizes that the use of the Cemetery was the burial place of the Union Soldiers that died in the Civil War. It also summarized that part of the Cemetery was known as “Confederate Rest” in which that 140 of the Confederate Soldiers whom were POW’s was buried in the area. Before that, majority of the Confederate Soldiers (approx. 1,000 plus) that were captured, were sent to Prairie Du Chien, and then to Madison. Many of them also were diagnosed with Measels, Mumps, Pneumonia, not enough food or medicine for the prisoners and many died because of it. Also some the prisoners were transported to Camp Randall (the same Camp Randall where the Wisconsin Badgers play on the UW-Madison Campus) for medications and supplies to receive treatments. Additional before Camp Randall was the house that many of the Big 10 feared, it was a training ground for the then Union Volunteer Soldiers during the Civil War. Now you wonder why Camp Randall Stadium is a “battleground” on Saturday afternoons! The story also summarized about a woman, Alice Waterman who was southern born that moved to the city to care for the Cemetery that housed the dead soldiers. She put her own financial needs to care for the graves and markers to maintain them. She is also buried at the cemetery towards the front of the site.

So again, I had NOOOOOOO idea that the state of Wisconsin had a Confederate section of the State in the most liberal city. Had no idea. And now, the Mayor of the City, Paul Soglin is calling for the confederate monuments or signs to be taken down or removed to the Historical Societies for further summaries in the future.

Yes, these monuments would be taken down for a reason. You probably heard about Germany for example that many of the Nazi stuff are out of the way because they want to move forward as a country. Here in the U.S., we are just getting started. And I’m aware that the Daughters and Sons of the Confederate Families are not happy with the monuments or statues being removed. Ironically, some descendants are favoring them to be taken down and to be put in the Museums.

We shall see.

Oh, in the next series: Michael the Black man must be called out. Literally.

Oh the irony. There is a group out now that wants to recall Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. There is an organization called “Save Our City: Milwaukeeans Can’t Wait” that has filed a petition to get about 50,000+ signatures in order to have an recall election to run against the 4 time mayor of the Milwaukee.  As many DO RECALL: Mayor Barrett won his election bid to continue against then opponent Alderman Bob Donovan for another 4 years. Yes, Milwaukee he won.

What was some of the reasons for this so-called request?

  1. Streetcar Project
  2. Lead Pipes
  3. Not enough to fight Crime

After reading about this petition idea, I have only ONE Question to ask: Why didn’t this came out last year in 2016 when the Mayor was re-elected? I mean they had the chance to out him on the ballots, BUT Tom still won.

For this bogus recall group, they are just mad. They are mad at what many think that Tom here is this nice guy mayor that many feel that he’s projecting the work downtown than in the other sectors of the city. For the record there are some projects in the City that are under construction, developing and others that are happening right now. It’s not just downtown! I’ve seen them with my own Nikon.

Plus according to Urban Milwaukee, Mayor Barrett had noticed this idea for several weeks. And of course if or when these signatures and others made themselves known, expect the DEFENSE of Mayor Barrett will come out and defend his record in the last previous term. Expect that Milwaukee!

Also, I heard that one of the Milwaukee Black Panthers Darryl Farmer is acting as the treasurer for the Organization. Not familiar with Darryl Farmer? He is also known as King Rick by the way. And I’ll bet some of the Panthers might question why he is in this instead of the black fist rising. I’m just saying!

And by the way, ASK ME THIS: why hasn’t no company or organization has NOT gone into the Century City Park I Building that A.O. Smith used to be? And it’s still vacant?

We know that Mayor Barrett isn’t perfect. We know this. But in all of this request to get 50,000 signatures in 60 days in my opinion, will not happen. I’m sorry, Allen L. Jansen! Many don’t realize that the petitions will again cost taxpayers extra money to get this done. And who is going to challenge Mayor Barrett? Who?!  Keep in mind that the election was LAST YEAR!

For all of those whom are the “Save our City: Milwaukeeans can’t wait” flagship whatever group, if you challenge this per se, with this idea of a recall, and Barrett defends his record in a truthful manner, guess what?  you will make him a 5 time mayor. I’m calling it right now! And no I will NOT sign your petition.

Let me just say this on the real though: How is the Milwaukee Streetcar a potential problem of Police and Schools when the federal tax dollars (you heard that right) were used, plus also the ongoing construction is putting in jobs?

Second about the Lead Pipes: we all know that the lead in the water is a problem. There is no denying that. Matter of fact it’s been a problem BEFORE Tom Barrett was in office. Why wasn’t the issue discussed when Norquist was in office? Remember cryptosporidium? Explain that, Save our City folks.

As far as the crime statistics, we know it’s a major problem.

As a native and still living in the Brew City, yes Milwaukee is not perfect. It wasn’t perfect when John Norquist was mayor, and neither now. So what’s the haps?

It’s going to take all of the near 600,000 plus Milwaukeeans that live in the City Limits to get this city going. Not all the former residents who still got love for Milwaukee whom work and go back to the boonies. Nope, you don’t count. In all of this, it’s all about some dude who thinks that when someone is in office, there is always whom feel that someone that is not doing all things, or not focusing on all of the Milwaukee sector except DOWNTOWN! Oh, we talk about the Milwaukee Bucks. We know that the Arena is coming up, but did you know that the Milwaukee Bucks will turn one of the former battered playgrounds into a multi-field for track, soccer, basketball, tennis and other sports?

This is what I’m talking about for those whom are late to the bar:

The title says: “Milwaukee Bucks, Johnson Controls to build $150,000 ‘multi-sport complex’ in the city’s Westlawn neighborhood”

This was reported in Milwaukee Journal Sentinel 2 months ago! HELLO! Anyone of the Save our City folks read this? Where have you been?! Ok, I get it. Everybody got different schedules. BUT STAY ON SCHEDULE!

And I’ll bet whom probably already forgotten after reading this will be like, oh yes that right, but what else is being built? First of all, I see construction stuff alot. No matter if it’s in Wauwatosa, Downtown, The East Side,  or the South Side. But mostly, on the North Side besides the Multi-sports complex, there are some construction projects that are happening, and I’m not talking about the roads nor new stores that might sell liquor. Some are popping up. You need to get out and look that yes there are construction jobs coming and doing, but there might other jobs too.

Let’s be real. We know better than this.  All I’m saying!

If many of us in Milwaukee can be happy for one day, is this. The soon-to-be former Sheriff David Clarke whom gave us pain and pestilence in the last 15 years in the county is finally moving out. My last blog talked about him being voted out in 2018, but I think 2018 for him came early.

This is just breaking news today, that Sheriff David Clarke resigned to take a position in Washington DC under #45’s Administration in the Department of Homeland Security.

Stay tuned. What I’m about to write next, will be a reason why this could be good for Milwaukee County. And a reason that America must pay attention in sense of being warned.

It’s been a hot minute since the scratching my head blog has been unleashed. I know it’s been a couple of weeks since my father passed and still dealing with the fact he’s gone.

But I still have something to say about the not so happy current affairs of the country and the world. So here it is.

Why do certain folks have an issue of Angela Rye’s shirt: “We built this joint for free!” Knowing it’s the truth when it concerns African Americans?

Why do certain folks (Church Minded) have to get attacked knowing that they have to go harder every single time in and out of the four walls?

Is going after North Korea really all that?

What’s this? Bill O’Reilly got fired from Fox News? And the station is under fire of racial discrimination of it’s black employees. Why hasn’t no one seem to realize that racism still rears its ugly head in America’s DNA? Especially at Fox News!

Stop hating on the Milwaukee Streetcar, Milwaukee. You know folks need jobs right?

Who was so glad to hear Former President Obama’s voice after all this mess of 45?

Men, when the women had Women’s History Month in March, we realize that every “Movember” is our International Men’s Month, right? Why trip?

The Republicans failed to sign away the Affordable Care Act. Why didn’t they say something to change it then 7 years ago? Oh, they were still hating on Obama.

Was Shea Moisture really that marketable to black women?

For the Serena Williams haters worldwide: she’s beating you. Why hate her and her choice of marriage, and her soon to be child? And Black Kings(and queens): let it go.

Is anyone feeling the Milwaukee Bucks lately? #FearTheDeer #DeerRun

Yo, this Eric Thames “talk” about him doing roids or juicing is nothing but a distraction. Dude was tested three times and nothing came out bad. So what is the real problem? Where are the test results?!! We speculte too much, Americans.

Can African American Men be relaunchers for Adult Internships too?

If moving out of Milwaukee is a solution to get away from violence, why do the suburban areas have issues of drug problems? And some violence issues too? My father once said, “it’s bad everywhere.”

In 2018: the midterms are coming. Midterm Elections. Can Wisco get rid of Scott Walker and David Clarke for real?

Introvert folks, are we still good?

So the State of Wisconsin has this problem of 80,000 plus jobs that need to be filled. As well as Milwaukee. And the companies all say “we need to find people.” Well what is the real problem with hiring, matching, education, training and transportation, in getting that job?

Was the “Mother of all Bombs” really that necessary in Syria?

So the Nintendo Switch is out. Who is really waiting to see if us “grownfolks” gamers can try it?

Milwaukee: you realize our 2nd MPS Alumni Reunion is coming in May, right?

I need to ask this question: and it’s for those who wished reunions. Why do many get mad about a so so class reunion that tried to happen but didn’t work? Also why get mad at all class reunions? You know you can use that to generate your class reunions right?

Why is there not enough representation for African Americans when it comes to groups like The American Legion and it’s subgroups? Note: some of them might have been or are American Legion members.

Why is Wisconsin “the state so far” doesn’t do expungements?

Really Ivanka Trump? Your father is a champion when it comes to women? You know what he said to Billy Bush, right?

Question: is it a check up, or a physical? Make up your minds when going to the doctors, folks. Jeez.

Should TJ Watt be a Green Bay Packer?

In May, Military Appreciation Month is approaching. Why do we get “Veterans Day” and “Memorial Day” mixed up?

I need to ask: why did we sent our kids back to school the DAY AFTER EASTER?! Back in my day, we started our spring break on Good Friday, then the week was nothing but a break. And the week after, it was back in the classrooms. Explain!

Do folks really believe the fake news on Social Media that folks display?

Why do folks have to test the Bible in what the folks who want to say that the people are right and the Good Book is bad? Seriously.

If you are a single man with no kids and not married (Especially if you’re Black) why the barrage of assumptions from women who wanted them to have kids and a wife? Um….Last I checked: kids cost money! And many women today have gone “Independent”. Society does suck.

And the last question to ask: Is the truth dead? Or just opinionated?

I’m back, folks. Get woke! Stay empowered.

Today, another sharing link is added to my stories. Stephen’s Spot is being upgraded to a second sharing link. That sharing link is part of Facebook. Already, a Stephen’s Spot Facebook Page is under construction right now. And it will be used as an extension yet again for my blogs that is written here. Of course this might generate more traffic. More than Tumblr.

So with any rate. Stephen’s Spot will probably get more traffic due to the FB thing.

Get ready and get woke!

2 weeks ago, as many already know that my father passed unexpectedly. And it was a shock to my family. As I reflected and reviewed with solace and bereavement, there were times I had a wave of emotions of Dad being there. In his Entertainment Room not moving. Even sentences of Frederick Douglass like “without struggle we cannot progress”. Every time I think about those words especially when those I know pass on, it is a struggle. That is what I felt all this time. Plus the word of empowerment popped up in mind even more.
I want to say to everyone on behalf of my sister and my mother: thank you. Thank you all for the acknowledgements, sympathies, inspirational messages of faith, prayers, cards, texts, and support in this hour of need.
Last year, I was reminded of my Dad said about leaving a mark. In his words, “I want to leave a mark.” By the looks of what I saw of the folks that came out for the funeral, for every mark left, even the committal service, that I think was Dad’s doing. No question about it. I know that August 18th will not be the same. That would have been his #70 coming up. December 20th won’t be the same. That is the anniversary of my parents marriage. And at Christmas Time, I give them both Christmas and Anniversary cards at the same time. That was fun.
In between I will never forget the memories nor the lessons learned. And to those that reached out, I’ll reach back. I know that this will take time, but with the support of you, it will make me to have hope to move forward.
Yes, my father had a good run. Make that a great run. 69 years strong. I am indeed a Veteran’s Son. 🇺🇸✊
Thank you, folks
