Well here we are. For the 244th time, it’s America’s birthday. And still many of us have a pandemic on our minds to keep safe. And being aware of the on going struggle of rights and privileges that everyone American should be created equal. We know everytime we see those words should be a constant reminder of every person reading this blog and of course those that use everything else.

However between last year and this year, this Indepenence Day has been a drastic change: COVID-19. Usually I say this that the folks who were here last year celebrating or observing or protesting this holiday are not around this year because many of the thousands have died after suffering this symptom of the Coronavirus. Many of our traditional gatherings at parks, festivals, activities had been either reduced to the social distancing or cancelled for the rest of the year due to the virus. The many folks who previously protsted state capitals in the Don’t Tread On Me Flags, or the Rebel Battle Flags or with Rifles strapped with guns all had this distain that the state houses were promoting “Tyranny” in terms of those wanting to go back to work. That’s not tyranny, that’s being stupid and ignorant. And what’s funny that I mentioned this in the last blog about the words “Tyranny Response Team” on the backs of shirts. Really?

Those men and some women are not a Tyranny Response Team. They are frauds! I know I shouldn’t be saying this on the 4th, but I had to say that it’s apparent that they are misguided about the use of freedom. Oh yes, with out our military and all the guise of implications of our Indedpendcce, we wouldn’t have a 4th of July to celebrate. Nor I dare say a Juneteenth Day. And yes those are #facts!

Let me further say three words on this 244th occasion: Black Lives Matter! That’s right: BLACK LIVES MATTER.

The very same words that our so-called president labeled the organization as a symbol of hate. Other individuals that deflected those words to something like “All Lives Matter”. Let me dive in on this again. I know many had the chance to listen to activists in a response to the message that Frederick Douglass stated years ago called “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” Oh yes, that is the speech that many are afraid to read and hear, but to us in the black community, Douglass revealed in his speech of the concerns that the black slaves never had to say but to feel what they were thinking. Even though they couldn’t stand up for themselves. But what Douglass really told was the hardcore truth that the celebration was fine for most folks, but to the black slave: Not as much. He stated at the time was “this is your celebration, not mine”. He also stated that while you celebrate your liberty in all, he must mourn. Keep in mind this was in 1852 on July 5th. Now 168 years later his Great-Great-Great-Great Grandchildren are reciting that same portion of the speech as he did. And it’s poetic because they need to know what their 4th Grandfather had to feel. BUT…….they also must read the WHOLE SPEECH! Not just that portion. My advice to them would be (and they’ll have to understand) read the whole speech before making a comment on Social Media in a weird way then you know. Of course, if Frederick Douglass were alive today saying that speech, either he would be attacked on Facebook, harassed, or shot dead. All because he was revealing a thought that many had been thinking for so long. But he also wanted the Country to improve in a sense of getting to that promised land of opportunity.

Henceforth: Black Lives Matter!

This is also the occasion that individuals like George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others in the country who are black had been killed by the hands of the police, and racism are not here. Which still lingers to this day. The activists of today who scream out Black Lives Matter are the new colonists. They are the new Paul Reveres that ring out warnings. They are the Elizabeth Cady Stantons, and many others of the yesteryear that are ringing out the concerns that many need to be aware of. Or in this case, STAYING WOKE! I know that many of us were on our live feeds today or leading up to the 4th, in regards to wearing black. In terms of Black Lives Matter and many others that wouldn’t wear the traditional colors of Red White and Blue.

So what.

Many know that the folks of Morticians or Goth wear black every day and nobody says nothing. How many folks wear black shoes EVERYDAY? I’m just saying! This is all coming from those who were logging into Facebook in Blackout groups that many tried to get others to join to participate. The whole idea was to be informed about the concerns dealing with black lives, and there is some advertising for black-owned businesses. Me personally, I support black businesses all the time. The ones I know very well from Black Barbershops, Black Daycares, Organizations here in Milwaukee like the Northcott Neighborhood House which was founded by the denomination that I was confirmed 30 years ago in 1990, the United Methodist Church, and my church is black supported! So I know this very well. My thing is like every July 7th, we know that Black Out Day is a time to support black businesses, but it is also a reminder that the support of the black dollar goes on all the time!

Also on the fourth, well there were some that have something to add in the concerns: There was an event and a protest held in Pewaukee and Milwaukee in regarding that Black Americans were excluded from celebrating the 4th of July Celebrations. The idea of the event and acts were to address the concerns of Police Brutality and Racism.

From the transcript via WISN Channel 12: AROUND CUTLER PARK AND THE WAUKESHA PUBLIC LIBRARY. NOT EVERYONE IS CELEBRATING THE FOURTH OF JULY THIS YEAR NATIONALLY, THERE’S BEEN A CALL TO BOYCOTT THE HOLIDAY. PROTESTERS SAY THAT BECAUSE THE BLACK COMMUNITY HAS BEEN EXCLUDED FROM THE FREEDOMS THE HOLIDAY STANDS FOR. NO AMERICANS SHOULD BE CELEBRATING. IN PEWAUKEE, PROTESTERS GATHERED TO CALL FOR AN END TO RACIAL INJUSTICE. THEY MARCHED FROM THE PUBLIC LIBRARY TO PEWAUKEE BEACH, A ALONG CHANTING THE MESSAGE, NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE. ORGANIZERS SAY THE GOAL WAS TO KEEP RACISM AND POLICE BRUTALITY ON THE TOP OF EVERYONE’S MIND. >> A LOT OF TIMES PEOPLE THINK AFRICAN-AMERICANS ARE ANGRY. THEY ARE NOT ANGRY. THERE HAS BEEN POLICE BRUTALITY, BUT LIVES TAKEN DUE TO VIOLENCE, SO WERE TAKING A MOMENT TO STOP AND BREATHE.

BEN: IN MILWAUKEE, ANOTHER GROUP OF PROTESTERS GATHERED FOR A MOMENT OF MOURNING. THE PROGRAM AT THE UNITY GOSPEL HOUSE OF PRAYER INCLUDED POETRY, LIVE MUSIC, AND DANCING. ATTENDEES WERE ENCOURAGED TO REMEMBER THE LIVES LOST RECENTLY DUE TO CORONAVIRUS, VIOLENCE, AND RACIAL INJUSTICE.

Also, over the weekend, former NFL Player Colin Kaepernick made his remarks over the holiday by stating “we reject your white supremacy.” He writes on Twitter:

“Black ppl have been dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized + terrorized by America for centuries, & are expected to join your commemoration of ‘independence’, while you enslaved our ancestors. We reject your celebration of white supremacy & look forward to liberation for all.”

No matter if it was on MSN or Yahoo the story was picked up. And just as I was logging off, here come those who are overly patriotic saying in the comments: “Get over it” or “Go back to a history class”, “quit whining”. Part of what he was saying was in fact true. There has been concerns that America terrorized nations without any consent, bombed innocent people, declared in the Declaration that Indians were savages, and oh, escalated the use of Slavery before, during and the after the founding of the nation. And yes, some of our Founding Fathers that signed the legendary document were slave owners. Even the father of this land by the name of George Washington was a SLAVE OWNER! Instead of hiding from this so-called Fake News, just admit the truth. Yes, of course we can celebrate the 4th, and yes there were black men that fought in the Revolution, but still some of them went back into Slavery! And some also maintained their freedom. Let be real about it.

Also: when many were talking about that had not been researching the story of a white supremacist. I’ll bet that many of those who helped shaped the country, no matter what roles have occurred before and after 1776 probably were connected to White Supremacy! You have the state of Mississippi for the first time in over in one century brought down their state flag with the rebel sign on it. I’ll bet many who were Mississippi born felt jubilant in a peaceful manner that the flag that gave them so many nightmares is finally done! Those monuments of those who were “Civil War Heroes” that lost the war, were taken down. Some were actually destroyed.

In speaking of that when NASCAR finally halted the thought of the Confederate Flags at the events and races that was a jubilant moment. Yes, you can thank Bubba Wallace for that in order to see change happen in the sport.

Now let me conclude this with this. The Fourth is a mixed bag for many folks. Let’s just call it what it is. However in the result of this mixed bag of controversy, yes it’s a day to acknowledge the turning point of the country’s Independence. The document proved to be a starting point to change, to inspire and to confront the issues, concerns and accomplishments that the country endured since it’s founding of 1776. Yes, over the course of human events in the last 244 years, America hasn’t “been that great”. And yet America hasn’t been perfect. But in the years preceded this one in a time frame of a pandemic that already silenced most of the Fireworks displays, parades, and other old-school related events the real Americans must stand up. It must stand up to get the ideas of being self-evident that yes all men are created equal. And should be created equal no matter who or what. Those are not just words, they should be a way of life. All day every day! If that’s the case however then explain why there is so much racism in regarding African-American citizens. From jobs to finance to housing. Even Healthcare! If many are saying “Oh Stephen, you should be lucky to be an American Citizen and have the freedoms to do so. Why are you complaining?” Look, I want THIS COUNTRY TO CONFESS the truth, the ideals founded and have that equality thing that many have been preaching about since Day One! And I also have been discriminated, disrespected, overlooked, unappreciated, devalued and nearly forgotten about. Yes, me! No I’m not going into “I Have A Dream” and recite the same sentences that Dr. King said in 1963. Many of us need to read the whole speech regardless! The same with Frederick Douglass’ speech about again, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July.” The one portion of that speech many recited over and over again. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE BEGINNING? And black folks you should know better! I’m just saying.

And the part regarding the “Mericless Indian Savages” in the Declaration, and if those who were wearing those shirts on the 4th in regarding the three words, you may have missed out on the words regarding the complaint regarding KING GEORGE III! Beginning with the word “He!” Now many of you saw on Instagram of the picture of Cree Summer (whom had a acting career on A Different World and the voice of Penny from Inspector Gadget) that displayed the shirt just like this:

Merciless Indian Savages Declaration Of Independence T-shirts

You know what was missing? See below:

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

Question to those who wore this shirt, why wasn’t the whole quote mentioned? There was also a missing thought that it wasn’t addressed to ALL INDIANS! Look at the sentence again: What does it start with again? HE – as in the King of England at the time. The founders I think were describing the dilemmas that were problematic. So when folks said all the Indians, that is taking the quote way out bounds. Hear me out. That’s almost like saying all men are dogs. Or all black men are no good. See the angles here? Or in this case all BLM Members are racists and being funded by George Soros. Or when he was touring the country in the poorest neighborhoods, there were individuals or groups that commented that Bill Cosby had “Harsh words for African-Americans”. Get that mess out of here! And according to the stories, there were Indians that fought with the continental army and for the British crown. You know which folks did that also? Black folks! We got to be real! This is not to drown out the Native Americans here. In which I don’t do at all.

People: it’s time to review everyday of this Declaration. In terms of further understanding the thoughts of why the articles and listings were made and not only just to be one sided. You should be asking why they were one sided at first. I should start by saying #AtFirsttheFourthOfJuly wasn’t a holiday for black folks. That is a fact. And yes, you have many saying the same thing, probably on your timelines on Facebook of asking why. But at the same time, we must not forget that the longevity of the struggle still continues! And also there were black men that fought on the side of the continental during the revolution. If you think that Crispus Attucks was the only one that fought and died in that timeframe, guess what? He was not the only one! There were countless others that served like James Armistead, who was a spy on for the Continental Army under George Washington that helped the Americans. Another was Peter Salem, as well as Salem Poor at the Battle at Bunker Hill. Even the 1st Rhode Island Regiment also fought. Why aren’t these names being mentioned like Attucks? In addition to the struggle, that also is an everyday reminder that must hold dear to these three words: Our Sacred Honor.

So yes, as the nation turns the page, or levels up at 244, and it’s ok to celebrate for a moment. But when the next day happens, its back to work.

It’s back to fight White Supremacy.

It’s back to help Homeless Veterans

It’s back to educating our children.

It’s back to realize that Virtual Learning does count like the Traditional Classrooms.

It’s back to supporting Black Lives Matter, in a sense to find Breonna Taylor’s killers.

It’s back to fight unemployment, health issues of COVID-19.

It’s back to defuse the wickedness of Backing the Badge and Blue Lives Matter.

It’s back to stop the abuse of Police Brutality, stand against racism as well as discrimination based of age, religion, gender, education, and experience on the job.

It’s back to fight for the Church in a sense of fighting depression, hunger, finance problems racially, and it’s back fighting the same “Colonial Causes” that were and are in a long working progress. Which includes VOTING!

This year marks 150 years that African-American Men received the right to vote under Amendment 15. Also it’s been 155 years since the Amendment 15 which declared slaves free, hence brought Amendment 13 in April of 1864, thus making it plain in January of 1865 leading to June 19th.

And the beat, in fact goes on.

I was going to do a “double take” on a subject and a different perspective. But in the recent events of the liberal news gone wrong, (thought I would never say that) this was a bomb shell that many of us had never saw coming. September 10th was the end of The Forum here in Milwaukee. And who’s the blame on this? Let’s read on.

If many listened to the radio station 1510am Tuesday morning on September 10th, you may have heard the very last of The Forum with Sherwin Hughes. For many of us in the Greater Milwaukee Area that know, listening to him was a different perspective on politics and the current events. Many of us listened to Sherwin before in the days of the Basement Crew on 98.3 and of course, WNOV. Last year as we know, Sherwin’s abrupt end on WNOV was in a Facebook post due to “irreconcilable differences” with him and the Management. That was last July, however between last August until now his show was resurrected with Resistance Radio. Again if many have not listened to Resistance Radio its like progressive radio in which it is. There are many Conservative Radio stations around the state of Wisconsin that cater to many white conservative folks that want it keep it on the right and red. But not many liberal and progressive radio news. This is part of the reason why Real Resistance Radio is now on the air.

So who is next to listen to? Who is next to help bring the real pain of progressive radio of Democratic styles in all to the airwaves ESPECIALLY IN THE BLACK MILWAUKEE COMMUNITY! We know Earl Ingram can. He’s been in the game of fight for the truth for DECADES! But he’s doing on the Baby Boomer side of things. Not a concern. But for Sherwin, it was from in my view point, a Generation X Viewpoint. I said it. I’m Gen X also. Not a Millennial or Gen Z. And the thing is during this past year, he picked up where he left off since leaving WNOV last year. And yet when I listened to his final broadcast behind the mic, he kept referring “the writing on the wall” in terms when would be the time to move forward. Of course when a player tells the press or media that it’s time to retire or quit, of course many of us will feel that impact. Maybe because it’s due to family, health concerns, other assignments or many other factors. It’s kind of interesting also that this announcement came on the week of the anniversary of two things: 9/11 and the passing of Eric Von. I think in Sherwin’s case, it’s about moving to a more free and appreciative angle that he can handle. And also the concerns of the station of Real Resistance Radio was highly examined. And he was very vocal about his stance about the work done. Is Real Resistance Radio the blame here? What about the Democratic Party is facing a mess? Internally? And again, which side is truly A BLAME in this matter? The Right Wing or in this case, The Left Wing Progressives that is now starting to mess up? Think about it! Sherwin briefly described it. Even concerning about the DNC Connectional things that are coming to Milwaukee. He’s been on the WRRD thing for 6 months to one year and was just forgotten he was still there. I know I’m spoiling the sentences that he said in his last Forum Radio Show, but the thing is this: It was noting that it was time to tell the butt naked truth. Now, nothing against Real Resistance Radio, or WNOV or 98.3 or any of the bosses or managers that he worked under. Or even the guests he had. At the end of the day, when it’s all set and done, from an individual stance, we must do what is best for us. We know that in the game of working for the man/woman is not going to be forever. We know this. But I see Sherwin in his next level doing things bigger than the talk radio business. There is always that next level thing we have to understand to walk away. We all will have to take this difficult walk. It’s going to be hard and of course what lies ahead is another question in thought. Homer Blow asks the question all the time: “What’s Next?” We don’t know what’s next yet. No one knows that day or hour. But whatever comes next will come into the light.

This is why I blog the way I do. I pick up on his shows to give my viewpoints here of what’s going on. And to summarize it in a way here that many of you outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Midwest and yet the United States don’t know. We “average bloggers” write what is around us. No matter if it’s health, jobs, a unexpected death, politics, fun stuff, whatever. Even if it’s something we regret in our past that should be a life lessons for those reading in the future. Even church. Somebody say AMEN!

So with Sherwin now out of the radio picture unceremoniously, who’s left to listen to in a black perspective? Again, for 1510am we got Earl Ingram, out in Madison there is a black woman by the name of Brandi Grayson who appears on Talk 92.7 in the state’s capitol. Which is part of the Real Resistance Radio Network. Here in Milwaukee: already Homer Blow via Blowradio.com, Michelle Bryant, Keith Parris, Faith Colas, Keyon Jackson-Malone, and Darryll Fortune on WNOV. There’s not too many of us in black talk radio in Milwaukee or in the State.Who is next to join the pack that many ask? Only time will tell. I say for those of us who want to be engaged in black talk radio in the city, I would probably say give these individuals a shot. They may not be the kind you want in talk radio, this is all we have for now.

So like the last time: what were my top 10 Forum moments that I know from memory? Let’s count the ways:

10) The UWM Controversial Poster. This was mostly disturbing.

9) A posting The Forum did on Facebook regarding those who left Milwaukee and thinking what is best for the city. Especially for those who USED TO vote, work, volunteer and play in the city.

8) WRRD 1510 Received an Award from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association. The station came in third place and it was because of The Forum.

7) Several interviews with Milwaukee/Wisconsin Congressmen, Alder-persons, Senators. All Milwaukee related. And even replaying a footage that Sen. Lena Taylor made an announcement in running for Mayor for 2020.

6) Last year when The Forum was on the scene when former president Barack Obama was in town for campaign of the 2018 election of the state. The same one later on that Tony Evers won.

5) Last year in November, when the acknowledgement of International Men’s Day was mentioned and yes there was a reason why Men should have their day and time to shine. Even though it was short, but it was a mini statement. International Men’s Day in which many forget: it’s November 19th.

4) Sherwin had this guest on The Forum before, but Shannon Lewendowski a FORMER police officer of the Milwaukee PD and like before, she knew the weaknesses of Milwaukee that every-time she talks about it, the guest usually gets warned about it. But the fact of the matter is, most of what she said was the butt naked truth!

3) See Number 4.

2) The Final Broadcast of the Forum we did not see coming on September 10th. And yet, Sherwin was very expressive in the year overall since the left leaning progressive station was not that VERY keen on Sherwin’s intellect and viewpoints. Especially after realization that sometimes DEMOCRATS can be a mistake in starting up stuff they really can’t hardly finish. And yet, it’s a mess not cleaning up. Many didn’t like it, but it was partially the truth.

And the Number one thing that I’ll remember from The Forum in a resistance side: His comeback show from August of last year of 2018. It was his first since leaving WNOV in July of the same year.

To listen to the last talk show of The Forum on this date of September 10th, 2019, click here and press play. The Forum does have it’s own web page, that you can listen to the last broadcast and also the previous broadcasts of the days from WRRD and WNOV at the same time. It’s all on there. So if any one is looking for them to see if it’s still usable to listen to, it’s on there. All of the 1,000 plus episodes of the broadcasts via Soundcloud.

As far as the now former host is concerned, there is an organization in the city he founded a while back and it’s in a supporting role in regarding the future elections of Milwaukee candidates. Look for “Leaders for a Better Community” and find ways to support and get involved! Oh, and one more thing, if many want to keep up with fans of The Forum, follow along for a member group request on Facebook.

Apparently this is not the way to drop another stunner on Milwaukee Black Talk Radio, but knowing that there will be another one that will renew a idea to let us (and I mean US) have our say!

Today as we know is Labor Day in which for many is the last blast of the Summer Solstice Vacation Season of 2019. And yet it’s the last of the Unofficial end of Summer of the 2010’s. Let’s be honest, the season in many was a quick one in which it went so fast. And yet, I needed a break to get away from the blogging to concentrate on the mindful of things to write something new. Oh yes, I’ve been taking notes and looking at the crazy footage of our so-called president making a fool of himself thinking he’s the chosen one. OH REALLY?! SINCE WHEN? Enough of this, with all the mess of Education, Crime, Black Folks voting up with White Supremacy, another year without Colin Kaepernick, Jay-Z setting up the Inspire Change in the NFL’s 100th Season, Packers got a new Head Coach that would let loose like crazy, Jonathan Taylor is a Heisman Chaser, and……lets get this over with. I’m scratching my head again.

If you have a fake job that harasses folks, does that make you make “Labor Day material?”

I’m looking at highlights of the Milwaukee Rally of 2019. It’s like a mini-Harley Davidson festival of five days of Motorcycles humming all over the city of Milwaukee. BUT……..As far as the stages of music, will it not hurt if the rally folks look for Black Entertainers that can perform at the rallies? No offense.

What was the Summer Blockbuster Action Movie of 2019?

After 20 plus years in the game, Missy Elliott earned a MTV VMA Vanguard Award. Hold up, you know it’s still the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, right?

So the NFL’s 100th Season will feature the theme of Inspire Change by Jay-Z. Exactly what will be the overall idea of this concerning police brutality? And about Kaepernick?

Marcellus Wiley was literally off his high horse on FS1 taking about Kaepernick’s protest and other concerns that he’s not black enough and all this other things not worthwhile. OK, Colin was biracial born in my home-state of Wisconsin, in my home city of MILWAUKEE and raised in California. So what. Bottom line is the fairness of him is not being projected in terms of him playing. Colin has been warming up for 3 years in the hope of being signed to a NFL Team. So why is Marcellus Wiley tripping like the GOP? And let Roland Martin “deconstruct”the method of this subject!

Since when did our So-Called President wanted to call himself “the chosen one?”

It appears that Milwaukee’s EScooters Pilot Program is a big tryout. From Lime Scooters, to Bird and Spin. And safety is not in play?

How did the Milwaukee Streetcar do with the Hip Hop Week?

A Hip Hop Concert on the Milwaukee Streetcar, August 2019.

With Summerfest is in the rear view for another year, any take on the high and low points of the festivals?

I know I’m not the only one, is it not a shock to see Halloween stuff in the stores already?

With many of the schools starting up for the 2019-2020 semester, this needs to be stated: if you are apart of an Alumni Association that meets once a month and you get yelled at or called out of spite, can all of your former schools chill out?!!! DANG!

For all the football predictors, is it possible that the New England Patriots can actually lose the Super Bowl Title in this year’s season, and yet, can the Green Bay Packers win BACK the NFL North Championship?

Speaking of redemption seasons, it is time for the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team to get back to dominate ways. Now since Qunintez Cephus is back on the scene, along with Jonathan Taylor, I want him to have a redemption season to get back on winning ways to show that hard grit for the Cardinal and White. Who’s down for that? And it should be a REDEMPTION SEASON after all that mess getting Qunitez suspended from the school!

CALLOUT: Why do folks who get mad at class reunions just suddenly ask about publicizing? And what does publicized ACTUALLY mean?!

SECOND CALLOUT: If you just planned a wedding this year and advertise among those a few, but mainly FORGOT those who backed you for YEARS, why is that possible to sell them short?

Taking a vacation is not a one day thing. That is vacationing one day in a city, and going back home the next. Who does that?! And can many folks actually REST for a couple of days to visit? Jeez!

Has anyone seen this Millenials vs Baby Boomers Video?

And…….Gen X and Gen Z is left out. It’s time for a Fatal Four Way. And who agrees?

In August, we observed officially 400 years of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Had many of us actually got the gist of why Slavery is still a problem in America?

So on the video game side of things, Madden 20 will NOT be on the Nintendo Switch, but……is it safe to say that MFL (as in the Mutant Football League) is an alternate to get more teams to play?

It seems that some in Milwaukee want to be mayor for the 2020 Election. And still, does Tom Barrett still want the City Hall Chair for a 5th Term?

For all those Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich fans, if you packed the restaurant in 2019 for a darn sandwich, how come many of you can’t pack a Church Sanctuary on Sundays? And Voting lines, and specifically Parent Teacher Conferences at your child’s school? SPOILER ALERT many of you will fail!

Men: we got 2 more months until International Men’s Day of 2019. Have we NOT had any mistakes planning this?

Hold up: September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. How come there are those companies like the WWE or others are not promoting this? Wear the light blue before pink, men and get your prostates checked up like your sports stats.

When October comes, WWE’s Smackdown will move to Fox, to kick off it’s 20th Anniversary. And just to add, will this give AEW Wrestling a run for it’s money? Or maybe will NXT on USA do it?

So far, the Fiserv. Forum is good after a year. Now the arena’s lettering will be on top of the building with an Orange Glow. Look for it. You know you want to see it. Right?

Who still misses the Bradley Center? Let this video rehash some good memories.

Which WWE Title is most fun right now? I say it’s the 24/7 title. With R-Truth leading the champion changes.

Speaking of WWE Championships, 2019 is the 40th Anniversary of the WWE’s Intercontinential Championship. Who did not know this?

If you graduated from high school in 1995, you know that next year is your 25th Anniversary of your Reunion, right? We’re talking 2020.

The NFL begins it’s 100th Birthday/Anniversary/Season with the old school rivals between the Packers and Bears, instead of the SuperBowl Champion Patriots and their scheduled opponents of whoever they are. For all you Bears fans, you got the SNL superfans and their fake version of Alexa/Google Mini stating they won more titles than the Packers and all that. Are you sure that thing is not rigged?! Good rivalry in all, but unfinished business. And by the way: The Packers STILL OWN MORE NFL TITLES THAN Da Bears! And the rest of the league. 13 championships. Don’t come for Green Bay!

Here is to think about on Labor Day, when it comes looking for work for real paying jobs, why is it always these temp services calling folks the most?! Even if you got a good resume that has been sitting the most all this time with a Bachelor’s Degree?!! We don’t want that!

Here is another thing on Labor Day, what is it about this day with all the hiring discrimination crap that plagues our society all the time?! And you know what I’m talking about. And folks need JOBS!

Is Tales on BET really the new Alfred Hitchcock of the 21st Century for black folks?

September 4th, is the first anniversary of Roland Martin’s show, Roland Martin Unfiltered. After it’s first year of keeping it black and real to a point is this is what we’ve been waiting for in regarding telling our black stories? By the way, support the cause!

Should we chase after folks who uses grammar incorrectly while on Social Media? Especially on Facebook?

Attention Cord Cutters: Which device on the market is good to purchase between Roku, Apple TV, Jetstream TV, Amazon FireStick, and others that don’t require DirecTV Now or should I say now: AT&T TV Now? Many of us want to follow the ditch the dish/high price for cable trend.

Milwaukee Intersection: N. 60th Street and W. Capitol Drive.

In Milwaukee, we have several intersections like this one is perceived as dangerous with all the drivers running red lights. Should these “Grand Theft Auto” wannabes be ticketed and have their licences taken away? And their cars repossessed? Don’t be shocked if this happens!

And the last question: when Labor Day 2020 comes next year, how often should many folks all the time instead of being snobbish of not working?

Pave the way for the Fall Season, we coming!

With the still new year in motion, it’s already being bonkers. Of course today we are removed from the first Federal Holiday in honor of Dr. King. And yeah, New Year’s Day. But in all what has 2019 has done thus far, well not much except the inaugurations and the soon to be done 2018-19 NFL Season. And the disappointing Government Shutdown that plagued the 800,000 workers. Shameful! And like many before, I’m scratching my head again.

Black folks: what about this challenge? Can this happen?

I’m assuming that all of the Divine 9 January Founder’s Day “Days” have been accounted for?

So how’re those New Year’s Resolutions holding up? Like seriously?!

Did anyone act a fool on the King Holiday? Please say no!

So…Wisconsin, how about that new Governor Tony Evers, eh?

What will be missed about the Bradley Center? Besides the empty spot of rubble?

That one weekend in Milwaukee this actually happened on January 12th and 13th: no gunshots. Can we have every weekend or every day without no gun violence?

You know that the Milwaukee Bucks are dead serious of Basketball dominance in the East, right?

Why many conservatives want to test Cardi B? Like seriously?!

It just dawned on me. Not every music artist is “woke and conscious!!!!” Why is that possible?! And who is listening to them? – Regarding R.Kelly.

Since when did Cigna and Queen Latifah hook up for annual physical PSAs for 2019?

Of all the things wild today in Milwaukee, naming rights. Why Miller Park?

It seems that the Milwaukee Streetcar haters got excited about the vehicle being stuck in all this past week. But did they know that an incorrectly parked car caused the problem?! Stupid. And no, this is where you have to defend The Hop.

Is Killer Mike’s Trigger Warning show valuable right now on Netflix?

With now the NFL playoffs set, and Championship Sunday is clear, it either the #Rams or the same ol’ Tom Brady and the #Patriots. Who you really got? Spoiler Alert: There is a shocker.

So Gladys Knight is going to sing the National Anthem for the Super Bowl. And yes we know that the song had the Third Stanza of “No heirling or refuge for a slave” lyric. And many called her to be off-limits to black cards and cookouts. On the flip side, Gladys Knight has been on the forefront way before me, the millennials, generation z, all the so-called woke and conscious revolutionary folks, and even Colin Kaepernick and his girlfriend Nessa. So why we have to question her and her choice of singing the Anthem?! And making her sing the third stanza?! What kind of “ish” is that? Man, regardless of the decision she made and it’s none of our concern, respect the elders. I’m just saying!

Just recently, there was a Black Millionaire, named Robert F. Smith that donated to an HBCU, Morehouse College in Georgia, and many black folks on the Black Enterprise Facebook Page cried foul about this. Seriously, what is the problem?!!

Did many folks display the American Flag out on the MLK Holiday? Be honest.

You realize that January 31st will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Jackie Robinson? Watch 42!

Is Kamala Harris the one we want to see as President?

Black Folks: I need us to really explain the truth about what the Black Agenda is. What is it? Why does it matter to us in regarding those we put in office?

Spike Lee at long last will be a nominated for an Oscar. Are we happy about this?

Why is the coverage of Tommy Sotomayor still alive? Dude is STRAIGHT trash!!!!

With all the #SurvivingRKelly stuff still fresh in our minds, why reopen the pandora’s box with all the stuff happened to Michael Jackson? That will not fly right. Spoiler Alert.

In all fairness, what will it retake to reopen the Government for the Federal Workers that need their checks? And to STAY OPEN? And the WALL IS NOT THE ANSWER!

In my view, the House Democrats need to go rogue and nuclear. Around the Senate, around Mitch, around 45, around the Authority of the nation’s principals to get over the shutdown and back to work. Why is this not being proposed?!

Can the Marijuana users in all be very safe after going into the stores smelling so bad?! And the same on the roads?!!
CALLOUT: For all of the African-Americans in Wisconsin: If many had complained about the lack of qualified applicants of color, which is viable so, why many of us HAD NOT APPLIED for the jobs that the Evers Administration had displayed prior to him taking office?! They were displayed online for several weeks! We complain about this and that, and when the opportunity comes up, we go on empty. And also, what’s up the black caucuses’ in Wisconsin?! Why haven’t they been used as a resource in this? No, I’m not talking about the NAACP or the National/Local Urban Leagues. I’m talking about the Black Caucuses that many don’t tap into as much in the African-American Communities. We should know!
SECOND CALLOUT: White folks, why do you have to resort being triggered when it comes to a black man or a black woman who the phrase, “my black brothers and sisters” when addressing our concern of race? Or interracial marriage? This was brought up recently!

Update on the Shutdown: it seems that the workers are getting their checks on again and working. But why only 3 weeks until February 15th?

For all of us in the Midwest, you really believe that the Polar Vortex is not a joke?

The week of January 28th will highlight the 33rd Anniversary of the Challenger Explosion of 1986. Many of us were young when that day happened. I’m talking about us Generation X folks. Just to ask, who are the fools who think that the moon landing was fake back in 1969 which that nothing to do with this at all?!

So I hear that Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching. Um….not many like valentines though. Who really does? With all the negativity of dating and folks being way too much about that one guy or girl! Or rumors.

And the FINAL QUESTION of the first Scratching My Head All The Time Blog Post of 2019: When that Covington High School student that was disrespectful just staring at the Navajo Elder on his turf, with a MAGA hat. What was his problem?! And you know that was out of bounds dealing with racism. And oh, the jury is still out on this matter after that Today show interview.

BONUS QUESTION: It seems that the hate on Terry Crews getting sexually assaulted way back when is getting a backlash. Usually from Black Men, even D.L. Hughley, and several others. When women get sexually assaulted or abused or inappropriately touched many of them and some men do go out and band together and raise hell on the dude that did the act. HOWEVER: when a Man gets sexually assaulted, no matter how long ago it was, he receives that laughing joke reaction, and gets humiliated by the male audience. Folks, when this happens in our society, what is the general common ground that stuff likes this goes on almost everytime, and it doesn’t get the same amount of respect that needed to be heard? I say this every June when Men’s Health Month comes around, with all the “Men need to go to the doctors to get checked out” speeches. BUT THIS is a health matter that Men need to be aware of and tackle with a strong Health and Wellness Foundation to improve. If this issue is bad for Men, what will it mean for the young boys who are running wild and stupid (due to DNA Samples) and many of them without setting them straight because of their dads, uncles, grandfathers, male cousins, and others are LIVING FOUL?! And women who sexually assault or abuse men, don’t get off that easily. You’re in this also!

So here we are yet again.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the blog story that is traditional. Let’s review of what I said last year with a twist:

Like Sgt. Hulka used to say in the movie Stripes: “before we proceed any further, we gotta get something straight.”

I’m going to be taking this blog to new heights. It’s not just going to be the same old song and dance. Nope, that is going to be one and done. It’s going to more than just one blog story. No matter if you are in America or in freaking India, be ready. This blog thing will one day, get real. If I got to get my Periscope, or own video thing on here to help my stories, well: that’s what I have to do one day. What does all this mean? It means that I have to get better with the idea of blogging with the issues and concerns. I have to. It’s not just that thing that needs to be done, it must be done to improve. To inspire and yes, to get to the point of view that I need to display.

Yes, folks will walk tall, shoulders back, chin up, conscious up to the 10th level, and of course, this is an idea that would be beneficial. I thought about destroying this blog and ending a 10+ year streak, all because of other concerns of boredom or that same story. But wait…..this could be a benefit to help and inspire. While many might think that one story from a blog is all there is, think again!

“Stephen’s Spot” is not just about one blog story. Or one picture. Or one anything. It can be revolutionary, inspirational, conscious, fun, life experienced, or just plain normal. It’s not a one dance show. It’s one in the million that can be experienced if many take the time to read more than one. Now, I know many are just now discovering the blog based on what I have written back in 2014 or whatever. But if you (yes you) the reader actually like what I write here, in a sense of right now, thank you.

Knowingly I can’t control what others might read, but by me writing more, and thinking more, it will be fully objectionable for me to carry on. I’m in the 40-year-old plus age bracket, and yes this age bracket will indeed test my theory and summarize.

So guess what: you want Stephen’s Spot? I’ll give you Stephen’s Spot! This is no same old song and dance. Nope, not here!

So for now: let’s start my New Year’s Tradition of Stephen’s Spot that doesn’t need a repeat: What do I want to see and not want to see in 2019! 19 things by the way.

It’s GO TIME!

First Five I want to see in THAT YEAR OF 2019:

Employment/Health & Wellness/Politics/Voting

1) It’s time to work, folks. If this is the year that you will get that real job, the time is now! No more wasting time by waiting on others. It won’t work. We need to have a “Career Awareness Month”. We need to have better job fairs, career expos, have a “seasonal vet” career fair for the mature folks. Not that watered down stuff that many are getting. Even if you still have that degree in the display, that many will pass up. We have to do EXTRA better.

2) If you got to get yourself checked, do it. You know where the doctors are. As well as the dentists, eye examination folks and more. Matter of fact some of them might be near you right now. And while we’re at it, we need to for real get educated about the issues of health. I hear say, “you need to do this or that”. or “you need a flu shot.” BEFORE ANY THAT HAPPENS: ASK QUESTIONS! Forget what you saw on Facebook, know that real stuff first! Really stop and ask definite questions!

3) 2019 also means that the Congress will take over with some new #45 laws being placed unfairly. If any of the new members screw up, get on their case! Don’t just complain on social media, complain to the So-and-sos! Write letters or emails with proper sentences! You can do that, you know. Oh, and if you approve of the work that some or many are doing to help this country and mainly in your districts, show some love! Volunteer or work on their staff, help in politics on their behalf. Be an Able Body Person to carry that out!

4) You should know that 2019 is a “mini” voting year? Oh, you didn’t know this? Pay attention! It’s not the Presidential election, but maybe some of your County Judges or Superintendents will up be running on the ballot. Do better!

5) Speaking of the voting thing, this would be a good time to get your voter registration checked and/or updated to get ready for the 2019-20 election years. I want to see this happen even more. Forget waiting until 2020! It’s best to do it NOW!

Next Five I don’t want to see:
Church/African-Americans/Credit Checks/Not Voting

6) Like last year, and the year before that and previous years: I don’t want to see NO ONE complaining about the lack of this or that in the church. If you don’t have a certain something going in your church, then make something happen! Keep at it! What did I say after my father’s passing in 2017: Be empowered, and Stay in the fight!

7) And like many many years ago: I don’t want to see black folks putting other black folks down for stupid pathetic reasons! No matter what happens we must continue to look in the mirror and raise up. Either for Jobs, Education (past or present) contributions, clubs/organizations etc. And that goes for anyone else. It doesn’t matter what you got with you. Either way, NO EXCUSES!

8) Never EVER OVERLOOK THIS: Black Queens: you say you LOVE us Black Kings right? DO YOU?! Here is a “whenever you get a chance” challenge that you might not think. Cater to us for ONE DAY at a restaurant, or maybe give us a day that we might enjoy. Think it over! Many of you got Brothers, Fathers, Uncles, Husbands, Boyfriends, Cousins, Neighbors, and many other male influences that you probably know that need that appreciation! Even Black Kings whom you overlook a lot, never thought about, or being Single and no relationships. You guys go all out for your thing and we’re in the seats. Why not us?

9) I HOPE TO GOD, I don’t want to see credit checks on black folks no more. Matter of fact, not on anyone anywhere with credit checks!

10) I don’t want to see those who didn’t vote to gloat. Guess what: Elections have Consequences. Period!

Five More things I want to see:

Alumni Associations/Results Doing Actual Work and Milestones/ Black Church Groups/Black Community/Fraternities and Sororities

11) I want to see more of us ALUMNI (YOUNG AND OLD) to reinvest in our Alumni Groups. Not just for the class reunions and everyone also shows up broke, mad, left out and uninformed. If you get pissed about not being informed about a class reunion or gathering, DO NOT GET MAD AT THE ALUMNI COMMITTEE! You need to be backing up your Alumni Contacts from your classmates, anyway. And if your Alumni Organizations messes up, get on their case!

12) I want to see the results of us “doing the work”. Not just the partial results of patting on the back and say “nice work”. But also what did it took to get the results needed. And if your employee is celebrating a milestone of service (10, 20, etc), give him or her the due of respect. It’s the right thing to do. Or even if no one gives you a pin of service: give yourself one!

13) I want us “non-scared and scared grown folks in the Black Church Groups” to talk to our youth. Seriously talk to them. Some of them need us to come to them. I don’t care if they are in the schools shooting basketballs or at the community centers or in church playing Chess or Madden. Or double dutching, or even learning a praise dance. Even tutoring and READING BOOKS! Let’s learn to #HashtagAndTalk to our young folks. Male members of the church: get the young men involved in these groups! Women, you know what it is.

14) I want to see more black folks in the communities who think there is nothing there to do, start something! Stop complaining! Stop moaning! Get up and get out and make the stuff happen! Such as Health stuff, job applications, resumes, networking, organizing a business venture. Able Body folks, if you’re still standing outside of a Walgreens or a Gas Station asking for money, and if you can still move around, get inside that building and ask for an application! Why is that so hard?

15) Like last year and year ago, here is a thought: I want to see ALL fraternities, and ALL sororities to “recruit and meet up” with seasoned vets that can help out. Especially those of the black fraternities and sororities. All of the Divine 9 folks: From the Alphas to the Iotas and from the AKA’s to the Sigma Gamma Rho’s: Have a day in which YOU need to go out to the seasoned vets of those who are 40-ish and up that want to join up to support the groups you represent. And also, don’t be so VERY judgmental about those who are at that 40’s range. The best place to find us: either at our church events, alumni group meetings, etc. And this goes for the American Legion Family, Masons, Elks, Eastern Stars, and etc. WE SEE YOU! You need to re-introduce yourselves!

Final four: I want not to see and want to see.
Black Lives Matter/Volunteerism/Grown After 18/If it doesn’t work…..

16) Of all the things I don’t want to see: enough of the blame game on Black Lives Matter that seemed violent or racist. For all you Blue Lives Matter or copying off the Black Lives Matter Movement, you will suck. Instead of hating on Black Lives Matter at least go to a meeting or hear from those who lost a brother, or sister or a parent that was black. Take notes, Blue Lives Matter. And don’t front!
MASSIVE NEW YEAR’S CALLOUT: And also white folks: enough calling the cops on black folks doing CIVILIZED stuff like campaigns, jobs, barbecues, community projects, volunteering or even waiting on a client, going into their apartment, swimming, selling lemonade, or to be SEATED AT A RESTAURANT OR AT STARBUCKS! Be advised and WARNED; if you work at a job, you will be fired for these stupid acts! And it takes a SMARTPHONE with video to get you TERMINATED!

17) Now, this probably might work in this 2019: Get grown in your own work and volunteerism. We know what we need to do, and what to do this year. So why not get involved? And the time is right now! Didn’t I say it’s time to work?

18) This is for the grown folks 18 and up: HANDLE your grown business! After all, we supposed to be grown after 18, right?

19) If any of the plans that don’t work, This should be seen and heard by EVERYONE: If there are things that might be difficult, stressful, unhealthy, not financially, and many others, Leave it alone! Find a Plan B, or what you know best and stick to that! Keywords: PLAN B!

Happy New Year!!

We know that yes, Christmas is coming up. Matter of fact is coming so quick you’ll be watching “Its a Wonderful Life” over and over again like crazy. And Home Alone. And the Hallmark Christmas Shows. And those Christmas Commercials. Oh yeah, Christmas is coming with all the bells and whistles. Likewise: With all the still problems of Government Shutdowns, folks stealing packages and wrecking Black Santas, and other things that folks are somewhat conscious of in a demeaning manner, guess what: I’m scratching my head again!

What was the best Christmas Commercial of all time……IN Milwaukee?

So the infamous Scrooge of 45 is doing a Government Shut Down before the holiday. Man, what’s up with the bonuses?!

Oh, Hey December folks: Did we party or still partying?

There will be those who will try to dampen the spirit of Christmas of “exposing the truth” in all. Sigh…..so these are the boring folks with nothing to do or didn’t get enough attention growing up?

For us Sagittarians: did we shoot our arrows well in our Season of Centaurs?

What is the best Christmas Commerical right now?

Getting back to the best gifts, which was the best gift that many Wisconsin voters got?

Speaking of Scrooges: so Scott Walker had to pull a rigged stipulation to limit the governor powers of the next soon to be Governor Tony Evers and AG Josh Kaul. Anyone agree that its a farce against our democracy?
Ok, what was the best Christmas Commercial of all time in a national sense?

What crime was committed when Pastor John Gray presented his wife a Lamborghini SUV that cost about $200,000?!! What was the crime spree of this?! And this is for those who don’t do church or didn’t get the memo that the amount paid for the car WAS NOT USED BY THE CHURCH! Get your facts straight, instigators. You don’t know anything! And no, I’m not defending Pastor John Gray.

The only question I have in this so-called Government Shutdown: Where’s the Government Worker’s Christmas Bonuses that should have counted?

So Kevin Hart is not hosting next year’s Oscars all because of what he said years ago about the LGBTQ Community. Since when that became a stipulation of this? Look to my LGBTQ folks who have been hurt on that, how do you heal from this? While knowing that Kevin’s part had to be turned down?

Why do those on the international side look at American Scholarships knowing that they are NOT U.S. Citizens? Just asking for a future writer! Not to take away opportunities abound. But yes, they do have Scholarships for those who do Education abroad. Just saying.

Alright, why is Fortnite a thing now?

How do folks that are Anti-Tech going positive for Emails? Do they know that using Email is part of technology?

It’s funny though I already forgot that Christmas was fastly approaching. Has anyone felt that on a hilarious tip? We know it’s coming. Prepare for your minds to be warped!

When folks wrap the gifts, has the message already been told?

You know anyone that is gift giving is really a Santa Claus, right?

Folks, I’m getting mad at this: why many of you smell like weed in the store? I mean doesn’t matter if it’s at Walmart, Target, Pick N’ Save or any store or driving in the car and the smell from other vehicles draws a bad stench. Seriously folks, what is the real deal?!!! Clean up!

Is the WWE ready for another Christmas Eve Monday Night Raw?

Seriously asking, so is being an Introvert really getting a negative feeling of looking for jobs? As well as looking forward to the holidays?

Every company needs a Christmas Bonus rule. Yeah, I said it. What about yours?

Alright: who saw Aquaman? Or Bumblebee? Or both Aquaman and Bumblebee? Do not comment on what happens! No hints, nor clues, please. Keep it to yourselves!

Will there a be another Scratching my Head All this time blog before the year is out? Of course.

Is it really fronting to say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or Season’s Greetings? You realize that saying Happy Holidays – is a holy day. Run away, atheists.

This is the main question here: And this is for those who are so curious about it. What is it about folks looking at the Haka Dances on the internet? You know it’s not a new thing out now. Don’t even front.

Way before the Hip Hop of things merged with Christmas, which hip-hop song surged a spark for the Holiday? (Older heads, this may not be for you)

According to the United Methodist Church Website, you realized that folks have sung, signed, or played Silent Night for 200 years?

Oh, over in Oregon a black couple’s Black Santa Claus display was damaged. Racism as it’s finest. Does anyone realize that there are BLACK SANTAS that can be displayed, right?!

Easy question here: we heard the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (whom I’m just now hearing don’t judge), Run DMC, Boyz II Men (25 Years since Christmas Interpretations) The Temptations, James Brown, Jackson 5, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, Vanessa Williams, and countless others who have given us memorable Christmas jams on rotation every season.

In with that: Who agrees with this list? Challenge Me!

  1. Christmas in Hollis – Run D.M.C.
  2. Boyz II Men – Silent Night/Let it Snow
  3. TLC – Sleigh Ride
  4. James Brown – Santa Claus goes straight to the Ghetto/Soulful Christmas
  5. Jackson 5 – Santa Claus is coming to Town/
  6. Luther Vandross – Every Year, Every Christmas
  7. Mariah Carey – All I want for Christmas
  8. The Temptations – Silent Night

  10. Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings – Just Another Christmas Song

  12. Vanessa Williams – What Child Is This?
  13. Otis Redding – Merry Christmas, Baby
  14. Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmastime
  15. Darlene Love – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
  16. Kurtis Blow – Christmas Rappin’
  17. Kenny G – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
  18. EnVogue – Silent Night
  19. Aretha Franklin – The Lord Will Make A Way
  20. New Edition – All I want for Christmas is my girl
  21. John Legend – What Christmas Means To Me (with Stevie Wonder)
  22. Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song
  23. Outkast – Players Ball (The Christmas Bells Version)
  24. Earth, Wind and Fire – December (Based on September)
  25. Whitney Houston – Deck The Halls/Silent Night

Oh, and the Movies you asked? My top ten.

  1. Home Alone
  2. Home Alone 2
  3. Scrooged
  4. Almost Christmas
  5. This Christmas
  6. Die Hard/Die Hard 2
  7. Lethal Weapon
  8. Friday After Next
  9. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
  10. A Christmas Carol

Speaking of Lethal Weapon: Why wasn’t that movie added to the Christmas Movies List?!!! It’s not just Die Hard!

Hey Grinches: you realize after taking or stealing packages off of porches, you’re being really dumb right now, correct? And houses are getting security cameras with doorbells! With Cops!

Which TV shows in history has been always a Christmas feel to it? Don’t act like you know. Even some black shows had a Christmas feel to it.

This needs to be asked: why the fascination of Michelle Obama’s $4,000 boots? Asking for a friend! We all love Michelle, but just asking. Except for the haters who just hate a Black Woman Former FLOTUS on fleek.

And the last and final question on point: Kids, are you ready for Santa? (Even though it’s a creation of imagination)

Merry Christmas to all, and to all: a good reading!

Men of the world: Today of the 19th Day of November, is our annual day of us. International Men’s Day is here and yet many still complain. I think the many that are complaining are those of the feminists who constantly bash men like a bad habit. Females, you need to calm your nerves in all, this part is just for the guys. And there is a message in all this: it’s just our one stinking day of being appreciated.

With all that’s going on in the world full of mostly men wrecking the shops like ill-mannered clockwork, it’s safe to say that yes, there are of us that do the manly things around the game that need and should be paying attention too. Of course, men have to step up. OF COURSE! But the question is: how?

photogrid_1542663634384

Here in Milwaukee, my local United Methodist Men’s folks within the past year have the decision to come together to generate our ability to revive a Men’s Group. In a way to get us actively involved in our local United Methodist Churches and also among each other. In a way of evangelism, mission, and outreach. And other factors that favor men. Here is the kicker: Men’s group in churches are a gray area. It’s not like the well rounded like the women’s groups. Yes, the women outnumber the dudes 3 to 1 in about everything. But the dudes have and must hold their own! Of course, we heard about the Men being the Heads and women being the tails. But mainly folks are forgetting, not every man can’t lead!

When this international men’s day was coming up, I had to reference back 8 months ago when we were asking the same ol’ tired question around International Women’s Day: “When is International Men’s Day?” Over and over again it was a hot-button topic and still is. Men, did we forget this? For the folks who complain and piss and moan all day: did we complain?! I’m sure many will complain in the next 4 months into 2019 that when another Women’s Day comes around, there will be many more complaints about asking about a men’s day that is worldwide. Already, folks are saying “We have Father’s Day!” or “The whole month of November is for the Movember Movement to get men to think about their health……” or “the pay gap is unfair and men are just messing up to get what we think!” Ya think?! Not really close. Of course, the pay gap is unfair and unbalanced. But that’s not the reason why International Men’s Day shouldn’t exist. And plus not every MAN is a FATHER! Let’s be clear, females! Stop saying Happy Father’s Day to the men who don’t have kids! When the men have children, then you can say that!

As I was reading the think tanks via Social Media, The Guardian Newspaper out of the UK, and talk shows like Ellen today, and even The Forum on Real Resistance Radio this morning: the theme of the day was talking about International Men’s Day. Many have joked about this day occurring, but when you think about these stats from the International Men’s Day Website:

“Men face a series of health challenges that need to be addressed in order to have our communities function to their fullest potential.”

Current research tells us that:
  1. men have a suicide rate 3 times higher than women
  2. 1 in 3 men have been the victims of domestic violence
  3. men on average die 4-5 years before women
  4. men are nearly twice as likely to suffer from lung cancer than women
  5. men are nearly twice as likely to suffer from heart disease than women

With all the other health concerns listed here: we know that the average man dies early, getting lung cancer and yes heart disease/prostate cancer/colon cancer mostly more than women. BUT…..when you talk about Men dying more of Suicides and above all else being victims of Domestic Violence! Yes ladies, men can be victims of being abused physically, mentally, financially and yes spiritually. And other bad influential beings. Now we know why the International Men’s Day has come into the light since 1999. Be advised ladies!

It’s almost in comparison like, when we have let’s say in the United Methodist Church, a day set aside for Women for Women’s Day (depending on March or May) and yet Men’s Day is set aside for mostly in June around Father’s Day. And here’s another kicker: I don’t hear any complaints about having a UMW Group and UMM Group so why are we tripping about having a day for the Men? Grow up, folks.

Men of the world: yes all of us dudes that are single, married, widowed, divorced, in life partner relationships of any kind, active in the classroom, active at work, active in the Church, active in the community of choice, active as introverts (yes I’m one of them), active in the health fields, active in business ownership, active with fraternities, active in the military/veterans groups, active in entertainment, active in politics (in a nice way) active in many other factions: continue to guide your end of the ship to get to the point of where YOU want to go.

Men of the world whom are unemployed, underemployed, underappreciated, forgotten, overlooked, beaten up, scared for life, picked on, generally attacked, disrespected, physically/mentally/spiritually and financially attacked (by both MEN and WOMEN no matter what year or timeframe), discouraged, humiliated, embarrassed, or any other feeling of disrespect or left out: I would say man up,  but excuse my french: HELL NO! If you are a man that has been wronged by these words, it’s ok. If you felt this way or still feeling this way, you are NOT A PUNK! I don’t know who started this crap to think that Men aren’t supposed to feel this way (either men or women) but this crap MUST STOP WITH MEN, PERIOD! It must stop with a strong family. It must stop with a strong education. Strong jobs, strong economic values, strong health and wellness, strong community, strong neighborhoods, strong faith, and a strong structure of better endeavors that many must grasp! It must STOP! And the rebuilding begins with healing. And I don’t know that forgiveness comes in at times, even though it’s hard to forgive.

And to the men who are the Dark Horses or the Unsung Heroes. And I’m one of these also. Those whom have been undiscovered and still have some talent: the folks will know your name. But for now, keep them guessing and keep your game under wraps. Be that STILL dark horse that many (either other men and women) will stop denying you! They will regret you for not picking you to join their team and I dare say employment!

Men, even though that this International Men’s Day of 2018 is coming to a close for another year, and all have happened, what will we do for International Men’s Day 2019: The 20th Anniversary? What will we do between this International Men’s Day and the next? What will we do? We hear it from the Women that Men need to step up. I agree! But again I ask as Man: a Black man from the United States of America: what’s next to step up too? That’s the million dollar question.

Now, ladies. You may talk.  But enjoy OUR International Men’s Day, gents! Between now and the next November 19th every time. But not every March, OK?!

For more info about International Men’s Day, here is their link. I would say that this should be useful around every November 19th. But it can be useful to summarize every day!

#InternationalMensDay

#November19th

Well, it has been a minute that I have written a scratch blog, but as I sat back and listened to all the mess in regarding 45, Brett Kavanaugh, the Midterms, and more stories of women getting raped and others, it’s clear that this came at the right time. There is no question about it.

But yes, I’m scratching my head again.

Males: we know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But during September, did we wore light blue for Prostate Cancer Awareness? And oh, why don’t we see no “Fight like a Boy” gear or stickers with the light blue ribbon?!

When it comes to Introverts and yes I’m one of the many, why that is still a problem for many WHO DON’T UNDERSTAND?! Ask your kinfolk, church folks, co-workers, teachers, etc.

25 years ago, I was so hooked on the Wisconsin Badgers Football team. How has that team really paved way for the next squads that did Rose Bowl wins? Even for the school, and the state? Plus that 1993 squad was the first I saw winning something, ever!

It seems that the Brett Kavanaugh saga is just starting to unravel. All these back stories coming out. And just today, a key Republican Susan Collins just supported to get him on the bench of the Supreme Court. Women I need to ask, you really back this crap? And many feel that the decision “raped” every single American today! Screwed up! If only just only that the more votes should have happened in November of 2016………oh wait!

45 just made a comment about the concern about the sake of the nation’s boys. Really?! What brought this on? Like seriously.

In the local midterms of Wisconsin, if Scott Walker were to win in November, it would be his last. Should Tony Evers and Mandela Barnes just make that happen like under 30 days? Like November 6th?

For all the so-called Woke Conscious folks: Can you please lay down your weapons for once and actually VOTE THE F UP?!

How will the 2018-19 Wisconsin Badgers do without those whom cowardly left the squad?! Come on, man!

Oh, it seems that Halloween is upon us. Let me guess, which demons should we exercise right now? Even if his name is……..you guessed it. Same with females.

For all of the movies lately, why Venom?

For all of my Introverted folks: whatever you do, please do not be a Summer Program Developer in your community! It’s not for us being semi-communicative. Is there a way that there are Developer Programs that INTROVERTED folks can come to? No matter if it’s for a church, or community organization? I need answers! And plus it’s a problem if you have no training or apprenticeships! Or should I say ONGOING Training or Apprenticeships?

Since it’s already Autumn, what has or will be an “Autumn Suprise” coming up? And everyone will be talking about it. Just wait.

I should ask: what’s up with those Brewers? In a good way? Postseason wise.

Why is the United Methodist Church talking about the One Church Plan stuff, and not enough of it is being presented to the Black Methodist Community? Like Black Milwaukee?!

While many of you are laughing about this, the Milwaukee Streetcar (aka The Hop) is debuting on Friday, November 2nd, 2018. Which is like 2 days after Halloween. And 20 days before Thanksgiving. And many of the FB laughable are still making jokes. Hmmm…..we’ll see who has the last laugh. Won’t we?

Is the Fiserv Forum really ready for the new era of Milwaukee Sports and Entertainment? Will the Bradley Center be missed like already, The Marcus Amphitheater at Summerfest?

For my black British folks, I know that October is your month of Celebrating Black History. And yes there were or are Hackers that tried to shut your page down in a racist manner. Man, check those fools! STAY WOKE! Why? The hackers are just scared of the truth about black culture, black existence, and black excellence in all areas! And yet they hack the pages in order to have this fear. Again: As we Black Americans would say, STAY WOKE! Any questions?

Why this quote means well? “Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.”

When we say “It’s Harvest Time” we really mean to say, it’s time to take in the plants. Agree?

Why is Columbus Day is still celebrated in America, KNOWINGLY Columbus was really a thief?! Can’t stand the holiday! And usually bad luck for me gets around Columbus Day. Not with it!

With the blue wave still intact, can it withstand the October Surprise?

How will Black Lightning favor for Season 2?

I’m sure many are not job shaming Geoffrey Owens now since he is no longer bagging groceries for Trader Joe’s, right? Ever since that boost from Tyler Perry giving him a shot on The Haves and the Have Nots.

This needs to be asked: why isn’t the WWE promoting Prostate Cancer Awareness in September? We know Childhood Cancer Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness. But yes the Men’s Health Awareness must be included. I’m just saying, WWE!

Wishful thinking: should the franchise of Revenge of the Nerds be rebooted? Nah, keep the originals!

Since the Packers are in their 100th Season, has it been a slow start? But hey, they’ve started slow and got hot when it’s stone cold. Prove me wrong.

Millennials, your favorite latte season is back. Oh, you know we still say Fall or Autumn, right?

And the last thing to ask: now since Bill Cosby is in jail, and many of the folks non black usually goes free, and you know many ask: why is still the Justice system is BROKEN?! Many because of unfair treatments?!

I want to address all the students of MPS. And no, the adults do not count in this one. I want to address this with you because of what was said about you that made you upset. It’s a matter of stating that what James Widgerson calling you collectively “little convicts” was very disturbing. He is an indeed a racist calling you that. So with that, here is a blog letter for you.

Dear students of MPS:

It’s me, Stephen. And I am an Alum of the Milwaukee Public Schools.

In the last couple of days, and weeks you have been in the classrooms and I must say I wish your semester well. But in the last day and a half, you have been attacked by a grown man who labeled you as “little convicts” over the performance that continues to give the district of MPS a bad name. And the man that said it was a former students way older than you and I put together. The man, James Wigderson as I speak of was way out of line labeling you as failures being set up for the jail system. We knew what he said in his blog story. And what he said to the majority of you was again clearly stupid. It’s not your fault. And by the way, he’s an alum of MPS.

One of the Milwaukee Youth Council members had really to speak out on this matter and I must applaud the young lady, Emoni Gambrell-Toliver a student from Riverside University High School and President of the Youth Council for a chance to do that. If you have not read her statement regarding this matter, it’s a must read! Even if you are a critic of MPS.

I really hope that the build-up from all of this will decrease and also the value of our education in Milwaukee continue to rise up and prove those that it can be viable just like the outline areas outside of Milwaukee.

But we all know that today, James Wigderson was not apologizing for his remarks in the blog. He also stated that his words as a whole were not directed towards the entire students of MPS. It was about this one player, that went to Washington High School. I have to say that it was not factual. He knew what he was talking about. But just don’t want to deny that part of the truth of hating on all of you that WANT to make a difference in the world. Yes, I will agree he was hateful. He also claims that he backed school choice and charter schools and such. But he was not solid on you in general! For an extra commentary, he’s a coward. And even though his last days of education was at Vincent High School, I want to be clear that he has some soul searching in discovering that what he thought he saw was not just a concern, but to also ask what can be done to change it! I hate to say that there are those in the Alumni are real losers. Jealous that the opportunities you’re getting many of us didn’t get. And James is included in this also. He’s a loser! A racist vile hypocritical loser! And he does not care about you.

In the schools, we know there are things are not sharp enough. And I know that we see and read about the negative about MPS. But the thing is, what is missing from all this is positive! We need to read and see about your positive stories of what is going on into the schools. We need to read and see what you’re up to in a positive manner about what is up in the schools. Show us the receipts, as many of you would say! Show them to us at an Open House, a Concert, a Play, or even yes the football field or basketball court. For academics, I know that math, reading, and science are one of the subjects at hand, but show us what you’ve learned! Prove it to yourselves and us that you can do this!

MPS Students, you are indeed the future of our district. Future Alumni, Future Scholars, and future whatever it is that you want to be. Let us know what is happening in your schools. Your Games, Band and Orchestra, Debates, Communications, Mechanical Classes, and many others that you’re doing. Many of us alumni folks are so busy raising families and working to get very busy. We do. And we assumed what is taking place at the schools now is mostly negative. We want you: and I’m giving you an ongoing homework assignment here. I want you to tell us grown people that been there and done it, really tell us what is really going on in the schools. Tell us and show us your open house projects, your performances in concerts in all. Tell us how we the MPS Alumni can still support your schools! Tell us! We need to do this thing!

Before I leave you this message, I want to share this video clip from 1989:

This is from the movie called Lean on Me, which told the story of a high school in New Jersey that was once a prominent best school in the state was going poorly. But the principal played by Morgan Freeman had to do whatever necessary to get the school in the positive form. Morgan Freeman’s character was Joe Clark. And he had to lock down the school, dismiss the bad students that disrupted the school for a lot of years. Mainly drug dealers. He even challenged the students to reach their potential even if he had to make them sing the school song. This movie is based on a true story of a huge turnaround that captured the state of New Jersey. The reason why I put this clip here because Freeman’s Character Joe Clark was describing to the students what the rest of the world or the society thinks about them that want to succeed. Sound familiar?

I encourage all of you, who are high school students to get this movie. If not, ask your parents to get this movie for you and watch it over and over again. Don’t just watch the clips on youtube, watch the WHOLE movie! But I must warn you, it’s a bit graphic, mixed with overtones that might not be suitable for many. BUT GET THIS MOVIE! The prime example of this movie is the same example of this situation right now with MPS.

And also: gain from the “woke” moments of the movie that really stood out. Study them!

Finally, as I close, continue to do the things you do in the schools. Make it happen! EVERYDAY!

Sincerely,

Stephen
