You may have seen this on Facebook. Or any other outlet. Many of us who have posted this stat are taking real stands of what we see in our U.S. Government. And the center of it is number 45. No, I’m not going to use the name, but we know who he is. But however as far as all that “Making America Great Again” in all: NOPE. Time to rally against the thought that many who supported “45” and having his attitude against immigrants, blacks, Mexicans, and many other things that are not like him is just is. Yes, it’s like a call to activism.

WAKE UP!

This is where I stand. To me, FB (or this blog post) is a useful vehicle for connecting with old friends and keeping up with family, but it is also a place for my passion and activism. I believe and respect all opinions, even if they don’t agree with mine, so we can all use FB (or this blog post)to vent.

I believe that our 45th President, his power hungry cronies, and the majority of Republicans in Congress are a real and active threat to me, my way of life, and all the people I love. Some people are saying that we should give Trump a chance, that we should “work together” with him because he won the election and he is “everyone’s president.”

This is my response:

•I will not forget how badly he and so many others treated former President Barack Obama for 8 years…

•I will not “work together” to privatize Medicare, cut Social Security and Medicaid.

•I will not “work together” to build a wall.

•I will not “work together” to persecute Muslims.

•I will not “work together” to shut out refugees from other countries.

•I will not “work together” to lower taxes on the 1% and increase taxes on the middle class and poor.

•I will not “work together” to help Trump use the Presidency to line his pockets and those of his family and cronies.

•I will not “work together” to weaken and demolish environmental protection.

•I will not “work together” to sell American lands, especially National Parks, to companies which then despoil those lands.

•I will not “work together” to enable the killing of whole species of animals just because they are predators, or inconvenient for a few, or because some people want to get their thrills killing them.

•I will not “work together” to remove civil rights from anyone.

•I will not “work together” to alienate countries that have been our allies for as long as I have been alive.

•I will not “work together” to slash funding for education.

•I will not “work together” to take basic assistance from people who are at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder.

•I will not “work together” to get rid of common sense regulations on guns.

•I will not “work together” to eliminate the minimum wage.

•I will not “work together” to support so-called “Right To Work” laws, or undermine, weaken or destroy Unions in any way.

•I will not “work together” to suppress scientific research, be it on climate change, fracking, or any other issue where a majority of scientists agree that Trump and his supporters are wrong on the facts.

•I will not “work together” to criminalize abortion or restrict health care for women.

•I will not “work together” to increase the number of nations that have nuclear weapons.

•I will not “work together” to put even more “big money” into politics.

•I will not “work together” to violate the Geneva Convention.

•I will not “work together” to give the Ku Klux Klan, the Nazi Party and white supremacists a seat at the table, or to normalize their hatred.

•I will not “work together” to deny health care to people who need it.

•I will not “work together” to deny medical coverage to people on the basis of a “pre-existing condition.”

•I will not “work together” to increase voter suppression.

•I will not “work together” to normalize tyranny.

I will not “work together” to eliminate or reduce ethical oversite at any level of government.

•I will not “work together” with anyone who is, or admires, tyrants and dictators.

•I will not support anyone that thinks its OK to put a pipeline to transport oil on Sacred Ground for Native Americans. And, it would run under the Missouri River, which provides drinking water for millions of people. An accident waiting to happen.

This is my line, and I am drawing it.

•I will stand for honesty, love, respect for all living beings, and for the beating heart that is the center of Life itself.

•I will use my voice and my hands, to reach out to the uninformed, and to anyone who will LISTEN:

That “winning”, “being great again”, “rich” or even “beautiful” is nothing… When others are sacrificed to glorify its existence.

SSP The Struggle Continues

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, later on the United Methodist Church asked a question about black slaves. This quote rang true back in the year of  1791 before his passing. He once asked this question:

Reading this morning a tract wrote by a poor African, I was particularly struck by that circumstance that a man who has a black skin, being wronged or outraged by a white man, can have no redress; it being a “law” in our colonies that the oath of a black against a white goes for nothing. What villainy is this?

Well I need to ask this question in the era of Trump. And this recent act of this so called #MuslimBan. What villany is this?!

America: we need to answer this question. Seriously. We really must make this happen in terms of making it sense. All of this week, there were protests at the Airports, Federal Courthouses, New York, Milwaukee and many other cities across the country, many have indeed responded to the protest. Even the NBA has concerns. Here in Milwaukee, we got a player on the Bucks team by the name of Thon Maker. Yes folks, that is name. He’s from the Sudan in Africa, and that is on the no-no list of our so-called new President, Donald Trump.

Other international folks whom do play in the NBA, NFL also expressed their viewpoints and concerns about the so called #MuslimBan, yes I know it’s not really a ban.

I’m also glad that the now all this is starting to wake the folks up. We know that this is what the Donald was talking about during the campaign, but did anyone listened? NOPE! Not one! See what happens when you don’t vote up?

Knowingly yes we all know about his plans for the wall going up. You already know that the wall ain’t going to solve no dilemma with Mexico. Let’s be real! And already there is a “WALL” that borders the US and Mexico anyway. This is not a “Alternative Facts” section, this is the real deal and it’s currently active.

Oh yes, there will be a continued resistance about this so-called ban and while were at it, our values as Citizens or should I say, Americans will be heavily be on the line everyday. If the world sees us Americans as evil per se, the first thing of the viewing is President Trump. And what he stands for. I’m concerned also that if I went to another country and someone asking me about the choosing Trump as President, I would tell the truth that I’m embarrassed. But I would also say that I wasn’t the ones who voted up for Trump and tell the truth that his decisions don’t sit well. So we know full that we have to do is #resist all things that he wouldn’t get far with any of the crimes committed.

So I ask again in the words of John Wesley: What villainy is this?!

Within the past year I have asked many many times: Will you miss Obama?

Well I hate to say that after 8 years of being fired up and ready to go, and also delivering the ideal of Change, and many other factors, yes it’s time to say thank you to the 44th President who had to put the country on his back whether anyone or anybody likes or not. Even you are a so-called hotep warrior who probably just copied almost every word out of Hidden Colors or maybe, yep I guessed it: A Trump supporter who had to remind everyone about the so-called deplorables that had to vote for him over Hillary Clinton. But I’ll say this though, Obama did infact asked Americans to hold him accountable of the concerns and ideas he puts out. And yes Trump Supporters: you must hold ol Donnie accountable. If you don’t, someone will!

Back in 2008 as many know, many in the country were estactic and shocked that an actual African-American actually won the White House. With an African-American First Lady that was so active and black! Even the daughters who grew up so fast in the 8 year reign. I mean they were kids! Now Malia is 18 years old and off to college and seeing the world. Sasha has a way to go to make sure she finishes High School and then off to College. I mean wow, whether anyone likes it or not, the Obamas really have jolted America, and the world that a guy like Barack rocked the culture. If only my late Grandparents and Great-Grandmother were alive to see this. Man!

The Obamas brought life into The White House. From the right to take pics to cooking barbecue on the White House Lawn. Even having black history related events of Jazz, and BET. I’ll bet many African-American Historians, Analyists, and many others had to dig real deep about the history of the House and it’s black representation. It wasn’t just slaves. It was cooks, leaders, supporters and many others who were black that couldn’t been seeing around the House and having their stories really told. When Michelle Obama said this past year that everyday she woke up in a house that was built by slaves, for you Obama Racist haters, she was telling the truth. READ A FREAKING BOOK! Many really have to read on how the White House was built, by free and slaved black folks! She also got us active with the Let’s Move initiative along with the garden, and also putting up new ideas of nutrition on our labels of foods and drinks. Plus supporting Military Families.

Barack on the other had, started up the Affordable Care Act, in which many hated the idea that it’s the law of the land, in which many who cant afford the high costs of healthcare, can now afford it due to the fact that not only it helps to go to the doctor, but also paying less that Blue Cross Blue Shield current has on the high level. Oh yeah, you Obama haters hate that do you! Look, not everyone is not going to get the high coverage as you, but look it’s about those who had a hard time (like many of you giving him a hard time) actually looking for coverage that can be invested in to support.

Jobs: As of right now, the jobs report were on stat. But also before that after the mess that George W. Bush made after leaving office,  Obama had to reverse the negatives all that in which was left behind. It was shameful. Specfically the auto industry that was losing. But got bailed out on  the Governent side to get the jobs rolling again. Remember MasterLock? Of course you do. MasterLock was delivering jobs outside of the country, but Barack broght some of those jobs BACK HERE in America, specifically here in Milwaukee.

Add Science, WindPower, transportation ideas, and more that we needed to explore. Even moonshots about ending various forms of cancer! And I’ll bet also those who hated on gun violence: probably are gun owners themselves. Yes, there was a time when Obama was doing Skeet Shooting at Camp David and lord and behold, there was pic of him with a shotgun. At least he is a responsible GUN OWNER! Speaking of which: President Obama was NOT coming for anyone’s guns! All you fools who posed around with your glocks, pistols and other arsenals that about gun safety or gun accountably, you had to realize that he wasn’t coming for the bullets or rifles anyway. You were tripping! Admit it.

And just for the record, Milwaukee for those who may not know, gave birth to MasterLock in the first place. Just like the Beer, the Harleys, and of course Usinger Brats and a festival called Summerfest.

Plus the bail out of GM in my point of view had to happen in a sense because of jobs as well. Along with education. MOSTLY education! I’m not just talking about getting a High School diploma and actually going to work, but also making sure that the colleges and universities have that access of summaries that they display after the graduates leave school, to make sure that job or that career is ACTUALLY on display to have. Most colleges have this right now, I should point out. Even the technical colleges.

Oh and about the haters. Everything from “YOU LIE!” to actually being targeted by Racism. It’s all brought out by those who have the hate against Obama. You on the other hand probably got all that stuff talked about at Grandma’s for the Holidays. And even though that many in the black community praised him, there are some (I hate to say) that have this disdain that he should help out Black America, over the gays, etc. Look HERE! HE SERVED AS  THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! When the Affordable Care Act was signed, the majority of that act, per se mostly geared to black folks. Most of them didn’t have enough coverage per se didn’t cover all that pre-existing conditions that many others have wiped away like right now. As far his speeches, again look what he said at Morehouse, and Howard. Oh did I mentioned that he gave a speech in one of the “so-called” bad neighborhoods in Milwaukee? And it was a black voting ward, and it was at North Division High School. Hmmm…….I wonder what happened. Remember My Brother’s Keeper? Ooops I’m sorry. Go back and read it why it matters!

The first time I heard and seen Michelle Obama: August 2012 at Bradley Tech High School campaigning for her Husband in Milwaukee. I got pics. And video footage from my Canon Camera! Then I thought that after she was here, Barack is coming next. After that, guess what? He came! September 2012, and a long line that was formed from the Art Museum to the Summerfest Gate. Plus metal detectors and yes, the man himself was overheard on the crowd at the BMO Harris Stage near Gate 20. And I know Gate 20 because I used to work at Summerfest moons ago! Hearing my President, along with mother, and getting about 3 or four pics of  him was just so priceless! I still have them even today and to my FUTURE FAMILY MEMBERS: DO NOT LET THEM GO! FOR NOTHING! THEY ARE HISTORICAL PICS FOR LIFE!

And yet here we are. America: you can love them or hate them all you want. Matter of fact you can sit down. Simply because that this Family, had really rocked the country to new heights. Plus also the main reasons I picked the Obama Crew (TWICE) is because of the enthusiasm and vision. And no it wasn’t just because he’s black. Yeah I know America has a disdain when it comes to race, here’s the thing I’ll bet President Obama had to deal with the race factor all day everyday for 8 years! And dealing with the same mess from those who opposed him on everything from the very beginning. Ask our republican friends with the Tea Party family folks.

Like the time that now President Elect Donald Trump had an idea to produce this thing called a Birth Certificate just to see if he’s actually an American born-citizen. And he and the rest of the racist republicans was just that: hating on him just because he kept being Barack! Let’s be honest America, the country as great as is, does have a race problem. And  you wonder why many in the world is laughing at us. That’s like saying, “Well there is America, acting all gung ho and making dumb remarks to their First Black President!”

And what we do about it the most? NOTHING!

Almost having this thing about the church he attended under Rev. Jerimiah Wright. The same pastor who uttered the words: “God Da*n America.” And many of you haters had gone wild! Again, In the words of my former Pastor, “when you Da*n someone, you are condemning.” That what it is. Or like when someone says “Da*n You!” He or she is condemning you. Flat out.

Plus also, like many others in America: there will be Obama stories that will be every archive, every throwback, every flashback, and every single black home (almost) that we know very well! Of course that there will be those who want to erase all or most of the things that he worked hard for some those who feel he didn’t deserve it. NEWSFLASH: OBAMA DOES deserve to be respected in every archive and summary we put out. Period! And like many other presidents before him they will get book deals to be made. I want to get his book! I want to get his side of the story that is uncut, maybe uncensored (YES I DO) and also what he really REALLY NEEDED to say as a Private Citizen. Or Private Citizen Obama, or Executive Citizen Obama. Don’t matter what his new title is after January 20th, but note this: He’s still a force. Period. He’s still an influence. Period. Even in hip-hop. And I want him (or anyone in the Obama-Biden Crew) to have a adviser thing when drafting NEW leaders in the Democratic Party. Matter of fact, make that BETTER leaders in the Democratic Party!

So yes, it’s time for the Obamas to get that LONG retirement. It’s time for Joe Biden and Dr. Jill to take their retirements as well. Speaking of Joe, dude was Barack’s number two. making sure that the duties remained in place, remained on point. He may have been on that crazy side, but yes Joe Biden was and is like Barack: a force. And I’ll say also, like he would say about the ACA, Joe Biden was a huge F-ing deal! And even though he lost his son Beau, didn’t have a chance to run for President, (which would also been great to do) I’ll say also yet again that Joe was that 2nd Dude. Oh, you  all remember that 1994 Crime Bill that many black folks hated and still hate, um…..Joe Biden had a hand in that. Just to add. And I mentioned that he made and appearance and declared that he was a member of the NAACP? Yes, the soon-to-be former VP is an active member of the organization that was founded by 6 whites and one black. And yes white folks, you can join the NAACP as well as getting scholarships named after Martin Luther King. True fact! Try it.

The country in my opinion had a “real 8 years”. A real 8 years that was bombarded by the reaction of race, reaction of change, reaction of second chances and reaction of getting involved. I had the fortunate privilege to work during the Obama Campaign in 2012 and I don’t regret it not one bit. NONE!  I felt that I didn’t do this, I wouldn’t have to tell myself in the next 20 years nearly 60 saying: “I wish I would done that.” But yes we live in a nation of woulda, shoulda and coulda. We know. But however not many thinks that way. We know.

And now, it’s time that on January 10th, 10 days ahead of the Inauguration, that the 44th President will address the nation for the last time. And yes, it’s going to be sad. It’s going to be like dang, how did it get here so fast? We were just used to him! Or why didn’t he do this or that then he had to leave? Well for all you who weren’t so active these last eight years, WHY DID YOU COMPLAIN?! You sat there having him to do all the work, and when problems happen, you get mad happy and just complain. “I wish he came to this or came to that!” BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. Many of you didn’t. Now since Donald Trump is going to take over for the next 4 years, now you want to say: Oh I should have helped Obama more. WELL……….too late now.

Many of you whom stayed at home on Election Day, or having the gaul not to vote at all are going to get the ultimate price of a thing called: Elections Have Consequences! Take notes yet again!

Wisconsin is now a red state. – Elections have consequences.

Obamacare might be gone. – And for those who voted for Trump and having a problem that your medicare might be in jeopardy, Elections have consequences.

Most of the executive orders that many favored  UNDER OBAMA might be eliminated. Election have consequences.

Let’s be real here: this is not a game.

So let me say this to the Obama-Biden Crew: THANK YOU!!!! Thank you for the 8 years of enthusiasm and vision. Thank you for being open and bringing in real values. Thank you for being open and bringing in things that had to be done! Thank you for the swaggers, the black woman magic, the magic of us have to get up and the magic of support. Thank you also for the valor and value that this nation must continue to endure even when a Trump Presidency might worry us. Thank you for the encouragement that when they go low, we must REMAIN HIGH! And most of all: thank you for you!

There will be future blogs I’m going to write that will have Obama-like references in it and unlike those that want to, you will read it.  And yes it will family friendly!

So here we are.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the blog story that is traditional.

Like Sgt. Hulka used to say in the movie Stripes: “before we proceed any further, we gotta get something straight.”

I’m going to be taking this blog to new heights. It’s not just going to be the same old song and dance. Nope, that is going to be one and done.  It’s going to more that just one blog story. No matter if you are in America or in freaking India, be ready. This blog thing will get real.  If I got to get my Periscope, or own video thing on here to help my stories, well: that’s what I have to do. What does all this mean? It means that I have to get better with  the idea of blogging. I have to. It’s not just that thing that needs to be done, it must be done to improve. To inspire and yes, to get to the point of view that I need to display.

Yes folks will walk tall, shoulders back, chin up, conscious up to the 10th level, and of course this is an idea that would be benefical. I thought about destroying this blog and ending a 10+ year streak, all because of other concerns of boredom or that same story. But wait…..this could be a benefit to help and inspire. While many might think that one story from a blog is all there is, think again.

Stephen’s Spot is not just about one blog. Or one picture. Or one anything. It can be revolutionary, inspirational, conscious, fun, life experienced, or just plain normal. It’s not a one dance show. It’s one in the million that can be experienced if many take the time to read more than one. Now, I know many are just now discovering the blog based on what I written back in 2014 or whatever. But if you (yes you) the reader actually like what I write here, in a sense of right now, thank you.

Knowingly I can’t control what others might read, but by me writing more, and thinking more, it will be fully objectionable for me to carry on. I’m in the age bracket of 40 years old, and yes this age bracket will indeed test my theory and summarize.

So guess what: you want Stephen’s Spot? I’ve give you Stephen’s Spot!

So for now: let’s start my New Year’s Tradition of Stephen’s Spot that doesn’t need a repeat: What do want to see and not want to see in 2017! 17 things by the way.

First Five I want to see in THAT YEAR OF 2017:

1) Time to work folks. If this is the year that you will get that real job, the time is now. No more wasting time by waiting on others. It won’t work. We need to have a Career Awareness Month. We need to have better job fairs, career expos, have a “seasonal vet” career fair for the mature folks. Not that watered down stuff that many are getting. Even if you still have that degree in display, that many will pass up. Gotta do better.

2) If you got to get yourself checked. Do it. You know where the doctors are. As well as the dentists, eye examination folks and more. Matter of fact some of them might be near you right now.  And while were at it, we need to for real get educated about the issues of health. I hear say, “you need to do this or that”.  or “you need a flu shot.” BEFORE ANY THAT HAPPENS: ASK QUESTIONS! Forget what you saw on Facebook, know that real stuff first!

3) 2017 means that the New Congress will take over. If any of the new members screw up, get on their case!

4) You know that 2017 is a voting year. Oh you didn’t know this? Pay attention! It’s not the presidential election, but maybe some of your county judges or school folks will be running on the ballot. Do better!

5) Speaking of the voting thing, this would be a time to get your voter registration checked and/or updated to get ready for the 2017 election.  I want to see this happen even more. Plus in the future like all these health months, why can’t we have a Voter Awareness Month?

Next Five I don’t want to see:

6) I don’t want to see no one complaining about the lack of this or that in the church. If you don’t have a certain something going in your church then make something happen!

7) I don’t want to see black folks putting other black folks down. No matter what happens we must continue to look in the mirror and raise up. Jobs, contributions, etc.

8) Never EVER OVERLOOK THIS – Black Queens: you say you love us Black Kings right? Here is a challenge that you might not think. Cater to us for ONE DAY at a restaurant, or maybe give us a day that we might enjoy. Think it over! Many of you got Brothers, Fathers, Uncles, Husbands, Boyfriends, Cousins, Neighbors, and many other male influences that you probably know that need that appreciation! You guys go all out for your thing and we’re in the seats. Why not us?

9) I don’t want to see credit checks on black folks no more. Matter of fact, not on anyone anywhere with credit checks!

10) I don’t want to see those who didn’t vote gloat. After all, most you don’t like Donald Trump after he won, well guess what: Elections have Consequences.

Five More things I want to see:

11) I want to see more of us reinvest in our Alumni Groups. Not just for the class reunions and everyone also shows up broke, mad, left out and uninformed. And by the way, if you see an Alumni Rep at your class reunion, don’t get no attitude about your daughter or son in college needing money and you think that your old High School has no money. That will not work!!!! Just dumb. Have you heard of Scholarships, like churches hand out every year?

12) I want see the results of us doing the work. Not just the partial results of patting on the back and say nice work. But also what did it took to get the results needed. And if your employer is celebrating a milestone of service (10, 20, etc), give him or her the due of respect. It’s the right thing to do.

13) I want us non scared and scared grown folks in the Black Church Groups to talk to our youth. Seriously talk to them. Some of them need us to come to them. I don’t care if they are in the schools shooting basketballs or at the community centers playing Madden. Or double dutching or learning a praise dance. Even tutoring!

14) I want to see more black folks in the communities whom think there is nothing there to do,  start something! Stop complaining!

15) And plus, here is a thought: I want to see ALL fraternities, and ALL sororities to recruit and meet up with seasoned vets that can help out. Especially those of the black fraternities and sororities. All of the Divine 9 folks: From the Alphas to the Iotas and from the AKA’s to the Sigma Gamma Rho’s: Have a day in which YOU need to go out to the seasoned vets of those whom are 40 ish that want to join up to support the groups you represent. And also don’t be so judgmental about those whom are at that 40’s range.  Best place to find us: either at our church events, alumni group meetings, etc.

Final two: want not to see and want to see.

16) Of all the things I don’t want to see: enough of the blame on Black Lives Matter that seemed violent or racist. For all you Blue Lives Matter, or copying off the Black Lives Matter Movement, you will suck. Instead of hating on Black Lives Matter at least go to a meeting or hear from those who lost a brother, or sister or a parent that was black. Take notes Blue Lives Matter.

17) Get lucky! Get lucky in all there is. We know what we need to do, and what to do this year. So why not get involved! And the time is right now!

Happy New Year!

For the Wisconsin Badgers Football team: Say what you want, they are a good team. Making the record of 10-3 in the AP ranks/regular season. Winning back the Heartland Trophy, retaining the Freedom Trophy, and the Axe for the 13th time. Sorry, Minnesota. And beating LSU at Lambeau which looked good in Red and White.

The players from Bart Houston, Rob Wheelwright, Corey Clement, Leo Musso, Troy Fumilgali, Dare Ogumbawale, the Freshman takeover of Alex Hornibrook, and Bradrick Shaw doing the mix is rebuilding the structure of the Badger Crew.

During the election, Sen. Bernie Sanders bested Hillary Clinton, which Bernie won the state.

Our station Channel 18 has gone back being “Super”. As in Super 18.

ISIS or ISIL was a problem. Either in person or online.

Funai rolls out the last of the VCR’s.

Nintendo rolls out the last of Wii U.

Racism happened again in 2016. Yes racism.

Fake Stories SUCKED! Ask Google and Facebook on that.

The 2016 Election had the worst turnout. Low Voter Turnout that is.

No he didn’t! BET Founder Robert Johnson believes that African-Americans should give Trump a chance.

Straight Outta Wisconsin in a bad way:

Lincoln Hills continued to be an eyesore of concern.

Milwaukee’s murder per capita: 4.0

Former Police Officer, Dominiquie Heegan-Brown shot Slyville Smith during the summer of 2016 and a pre lead the unrest in the Sherman Park area.

Wisconsin is a “red state” because of Donald Trump’s win.

Sad news if you are a Russ Feingold fan: Ron Johnson still retained his seat. And other sad news: Paul Ryan and Reince Preibus are still hanging around.

As many know, that Wisconsin still remains a “worst state for black people.” Whereas Milwaukee still remains the most  “Segregated City” in the United States.

The problem with the Milwaukee water system with lead still remains a hot-button topic that must be addressed every time.

Hillary Clinton DIDN’T show up to Wisconsin to campaign when getting her second wind as trying to become President along with Tim Kaine.

Flat out Ugly in 2016

Been to a Donald Trump Rally? ugly. Matter of fact it was the most ugliest rally that was produced and seen. Even fighting and taking away black folks.

Zika Virus happened.

Flint Michigan and the water issues.

For you Brits: Brexit.

Michelle Obama was a target of those who called her “ape in heels.” Oh that was ugly!

The rise of the Alt-Right. Oh yes, they’re on the spot.

Milwaukee had and still has ongoing effects of lead levels in the drinking water.

The Real UW: in which the University of Wisconsin Madison had an ugly side when it came to race. And the hidden stories of why it happens.

UW-Stout student Hussain Alnahdi was killed near the campus on the weekend during the Halloween holiday. A spoiler in the 125th Anniversary.

After the recounts in other states like Wisconsin, Donald Trump is still the victor.

We Say Their Names. Those whom left us. 2016 had this moniker of having no chill. Some of the famous fallen left and right.

Here in Milwaukee, we also lost those who gave the city a voice, and a reminder:

Eric Von -known for being on WNOV, 1290 WMCS, and the health initiative of Brain, Brawn and Body. He was 58.

Slyville Smith – a 23 year old shooting victim that was killed in Milwaukee that also erupted portions of the city that was engulfed in flames.

Za’layia Jenkins was only 4 years old after a bullet struck her, while watching TV.
Colin Demge- well known DJ in the Riverwest Area, died at 33.

Jay Anderson, killed in Wauwatosa by a police officer, At 25 years old.

My highlights of the year

And as usual: I want to put on my 2016 moments. I feel a need to say this because I’m hoping to have a year of better opportunities. 2016 was a year of milestones for me in this order:

20- the amount of years that I am my Church’s techie. I started out running the church sound system in 1996, and worked up to taking photos, and social media. The proper name is Commutations Chairperson and I was awarded an appreciation award for what I still do!

10 – the amount of years that I celebrated as an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Plus serving as a Election Inspector for the City of Milwaukee. All since 2006.

5 – the half milestone that I served as a board member for the John Marshall High School Alumni Association. Since 2011.

And yes, I turned 40 on December 5th.

In addition: I was the Official Photographer for the 46th NCJ-BMCR Jurisdiction Meeting in Milwaukee. And had networking implications of course.

Plus adding on another board title for a scholarship committee here in Milwaukee.

Sidenote: Oh I didn’t noticed this but, I appreciate the 20,275 views on my blog. This is great, BUT: the “same old reading stuff” bubbles must be busted in 2017!  I will find a way to do it, or maybe not. We’ll see.

By now, the final leg to Christmas is here. Many are out getting gifts or making that donation popping. But whatever it is, it’s almost the day in which grandma’s house will be visited, light speed to the tree will be at full throttle. The anticipation of the excitement once again that this Holy Day of Jesus’ birth is mysterious, but is the greatest holiday of all time.

But like before: I still got questions!

For all of us December born males, does this matter?

il_340x270-972723658_5ydx

Does us in the Sagittarius game have a plan that things will be better? Keep slinging the arrows.♐♐♐♐

Did I had a good birthday on December 5th? Celebrating that 40th Milestone? ♐

OK hold up: who is really watching the Hallmark Christmas Movies?🎄❄🎄❄

Again I need to ask, are there other stories to read? Time to bust the bubble. Literally.

Not lame but I only see a few African Americans in these Hallmark Christmas Shows. Why is that?

Will you really miss Obama after this SNL Christmas Skit?

In history, the Green Bay Packers are so Dangerous in December. True?

So the Electoral College (as from those who hate it) should be abolished. Um did the EC actually worked when Obama got elected?

Milwaukee, remember we Generation X folks had all this fun? Read this article from one of our black radio hosts from WNOV on OnMilwaukee.com.

Who really gets the Christmas Gifts: those who have nothing or those who have been in the struggle?

Will fake news actually disappear from Facebook, Google or any other news outlet that has real news?

What was the really stories that captured 2016? More on that later.

With all the snow jobs lately, should there be a reduction in taxes? And should there be snow cycles for fun and at a cheap price?

Is DirecTV Now holding up well? I may need to subscribe.

With some of the black population supporting Donald Trump, what will be outcome of what they think they might get, knowing that part of it will get screwed?

With all the Christmas stuff now coming down percentage-wise, is it wise NOW to get them for next year?

They say that the females have to take over for the men for doctor appointments. My question is, are these the same type of females that really hate men? Be real ladies.💊

You black queens say you love us black kings. Can you takes us out to lunch or dinner or a movie that YOU will be paying? Don’t just say you love us, show it!🍴

I know this might be old, but what is it about black women or certain type of black women who have this hate on black men who date other races? I mean I’m just asking what is the hold up on it? And where is the “hate” coming from?

I have to ask this also: those of us in America is thinking about moving to Canada, due to Trump’s win. What’s in Canada?

YAHOO: What is wrong with you?!

Many should realize that Canada does have racism like America almost, right?

Should the Greater Milwaukee Area get a Hard Rock Café (not the Casino due to Walker’s dumb decision) in order to get Milwaukee on the map more? THINK on this Milwaukee. Hate going to other cities for the Hard Rock fun!

What is real hate against Obamacare?

By the end of 2016, will you really have all those 2017 resolutions in tact, knowing that many of us WILL NOT due all the things on that list? (lose weight, stop smoking, find this and that…..)

Should Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke be fired for all those deaths in County Jail?

You do realize that when new years comes, you have to start filing taxes right? TAX TIME BALLERS! 💸

Oh, many don’t know, but 2017 is a mini voting year? Not for President, but look in your communities.

Why is the Salvation Army having a hard time with the kettle donations?

Should all NFL or celebs dive in the Salvation Army kettle for the donations?

So there are those still are at war on Christmas. For what pry-tell reason why? Bitterness perhaps?

So Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa will all start and end by New Years Day. Questions?

Will us Sagittarius folks keep slinging the arrows everyday? Now that our season is in the books! ♐♐♐♐♐♐

OK last question: and this is for all the cold snow haters. If you are one of the many that hate cold weather so much, then why you don’t say much about………Hot weather?  Just wait until Spring/Summer 17. I’ll hold you to that.

So, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Feliz Navidad to all. 🎄❄🎄❄🎄❄🎁

I’m just going to let loose. This is the last “Scratching my head all this time” thing. Actually its the last story in my 30’s. But don’t worry since this is the 12th month and the birthday is on December 5th, yes I’m going to keep writing when the 40’s happen and yes there will be a SPECIAL Sagittarius Check in for all of us Sags born between November 22nd and December 21st. So with that, I’m cutting to the chase right now!

Since when did the real racists have a say when Donald Trump became president?

Have many stopped sleeping on the Wisconsin Badgers Football Squad? Oh, yes they lost to Michigan and Ohio State, but guess what Michigan fans, no disrespect, but your squad got beat by IOWA! And you’re crying about a tiebreaker with Jim Harbaugh’s rants about refs. Hold up, he needs to look in the mirror when his then-49ers torched the Packers with crooked zebras!

Can the Packers really “Run the Tables” in another attempt to get to the playoffs? Run the Tables, Relax and Chill fellow cheeseheads. #GoPackGo

If the Badgers win the B1G Championship over Penn State, is there a STRONGER WAY to get to the Rose Bowl and actually WIN IT?

Is 40 the new 20 like many said?

Hey Sagittarians: It’s still our season. Are we having fun or what?

Now Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke might be a potential pick for Trump’s Homeland Security Position. BUT you know that he had folks die in jail without water this year, right?

Milwaukee is now a Blue City in a RED STATE. How will this workout, as if many times before?

Remember when Colin Kaepernick was kneeling  during the Anthem? Why didn’t he vote?

Why is it that the NES Classic Edition is so hard to find AT WALMART? But when you go to Gamestop and try to buy it for $80.00. REALLY?!!

Is Amazon Fire Stick TV really the business?

Last year, the Coloring Books for us grown folks were a hot seller. What’s next to come back for the Christmas season for the grown and mature? And it’s not just the VR machines.

This year, we all heard about DirecTV Now. 100+ Channels for 35 bucks. Now here is my question: Can us on the DirecTV thing who are sick and tired of paying about $100.00+ per month can actually be traded to pay something less cheaper with the new DirecTV Now?

Did anyone actually were thankful by reading my Be Thankful blog for Thanksgiving?

Here’s something to scratch on: What about those who say don’t buy anything during the holidays, but those who will buy the items anyway?

Yes I agree that Black Dollars Matter. Which really it does. But whom is having a hard time understanding that?

This past Tuesday was Giving Tuesday. Who donated to their Alumni Groups?

What is the biggest stigma of misunderstanding of when turning 40?

OK I have to scratch this one: Many are saying that Luke Cage, Sons of Anarchy or others are better than Empire. Look I can respect everyone’s opinions, but what’s better than Luke Cage or Sons of Anarchy? Monday Night Raw?! Black-ish? I have to say this: the next couple of shows coming out, will be better than Luke Cage or them other shows. Mark my words.

What about them Milwaukee Bucks so far? Don’t sleep!

You know that the Nintendo Switch is coming out like next spring, right?

We got those lists coming out for 2017. Are we going to follow it?

Who is really hooked on those Hallmark Christmas shows right now? Come on now, please confess to Father Stephen! Admit your confession!

Will this year be the best Christmas ever? Since Obama is leaving office next month.

Speaking of that: Will you really miss Obama?

What will be your BEST and WORST of 2016?

Have the Introverts really got respect?

Why has 2016 had NO CHILL when famous most recently have passed on?

Who was the real deal in Milwaukee this year? No I’m not picking Sheriff David Clarke.

Who was the real deal in Wisconsin this year? Nope sorry Scott Walker!

Since Christmas is coming as usual: Who is the real Scrooge you know that needs a butt kicking right now?! Go get those three spirits.

Since 2016 had no chill, what about the unemployment and the underemployed of black men and women had NO CHILL all along?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: has anyone caught those who murdered that college student near my Alma Mater of UW-Stout?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: what about the still health concerns about black folks?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: What is the deal of the same ol’ tired stigmas about black on black crime that the “you know whos” had to bring up when police shootings happen?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: what was up with cultural black organizations had to shut down due to funding in America?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Why did those who say they were for Hillary, but were backing Donald Trump?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: who is really having a hard time finding work? Especially in Milwaukee?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Why there are those who feel that ALL CHURCHES are about money?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Who is the biggest hypocrite? Those whom do church, or the job, or the streetfolks?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: what will the black folks who voted for Donald Trump will actually get in his 100 days in office, or 4 years? Not much!

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Why is Wisconsin’s rural areas have the stigmas about city folks?

Do you realize that leaving one place to another might have implications of seeing the same old racism yet again?

Most of us are still reeling from this so-called election where hardly no one voted up enough. Who is really at fault for NOT VOTING? And will this not carry over in 2018?

Speaking of 2018, will this be the last year of Sheriff David Clarke and Scott Walker?

AND the last question before I turn 40: Will you or might you believe that anything is possible to go hard even further?  Despite anything?

Bonus Question: Should the blogging I do should be added to the Milwaukee category on WordPress? I looked at that and it’s completely DRY!

There will be more coming out.

Oh for those of us whom of the Generation X, Y and Millennials whom are 18 and up to about 45, next week we like those many before us that have to make a decision: voting in a new administration for our country. Plus maybe activating or reactivating those whom want their seats back in the Senate, House, or others. No matter how we feel about the candidates or their stance, know this: WE NEED TO VOTE! No more hiding before the keyboards or being so called conscious about not voting period. The voting games maybe somewhat “rigged” but what are we doing to “unrig” it? Other than whining and complaining everything on Social Media or our cliques. Oh yes, I just went there.

To us voters between 18-45 years old:

It’s me, Stephen. You know that blogger you’ve noticed lately?

I haven’t written a blog letter in a minute, but I feel this is the blog letter that must be written. Our generation is in Crossroads mode.We see the signs of concern. Majority of us probably will and will not vote for a cluster of reasons. But look here: if you are not voting this Election Season towards the end of this year and write some stupid remark, then you must be dumb as hell. Do you realize that our future is on the line? Majority of us don’t have the caliber of our Baby Boomer and Greatest Generation counterparts who raised us to be where we are now. Yes, we have alot to be grateful for right now, but we must not overlook the playbooks that got us here in the first place. Many of us got great degrees, owing our stuff like clockwork. Nothing wrong with that. I see that everyday. But again, we didn’t get here on our own. Many of us know that we had folks whom acted wise and gave us butt whoppings acting up pushed us to a point where we want to be.

Had a chance to talk to my 70 year old mother today and we compared contrasts about why there are those of us who know about the assasinations of MLK and others in our history books, BUT NEVER LIVED IT! She highlighted that if it weren’t for Black people in Milwaukee years ago, there wouldn’t be black folks living near the Grand Aveune Mall or any other part of Wisconsin Avenue. And it seems that about the Millennials: the act of not acknowledging about the past before them and keeping it current is not right. If you are a Millennial and only will vote for the locals and not national is not a good idea. If you are a Gen Y that stated on Social Media that you will not vote: that is inexcusable! And if you a Gen Xer who would think that Daffy Duck, Casper the Ghost, Jesus Christ, Lion-O, Cobra Commander, Optimus Prime, Megatron, or Mickey Mouse would make the cut on your ballot, CLUELESS! That will get no play. NONE. And the thing is it’s like we don’t no part of this.

This also probably have ties to slavery in some ways that the way of thinking of back then, translates to now. Yeah I said it!  I know some of you probably don’t want to hear that, but guess what: It’s part of the painful truth like White Supremacy. And we in the black community know it.

Remember when Cory Booker talked about of the Gen X’ers  being on third base after all being drunk and happy like we don’t see the real reasons why we can’t have all this goodies that many of our folks fought hard to get! And I don’t give a care how educated we are. Yeah we got those degrees hanged up on our walls and offices. But many of US aren’t educated to give back to our Alumni functions for scholarships!  Hmmmmm…Oh you think I ruffled the feathers? I told the truth!

Many of us aren’t “educated enough” to go to the doctor, and yes ladies I know it’s “Movember” in which men have to be on our game when our health is on the line. But here’s my question, isn’t every month a Movember?! Whereas the every month is Aids, Cancer, Diabetes Prevention, Domestic Violence Awareness, Gun Violence Awareness, and any other Awareness on the calendar? Tell me I’m wrong! Not just men, but also women and children.

I need to see a “VOTING AWARENESS” Month. And it doesn’t matter whom is on the ballot, I just want to Vote Up!

I want to see a “CAREER AWARENESS” Month in which many of us whom are unemployed and underemployed that want to work and make a freaking LIVING! Many of us or some of us got that drive, but not actually executing it to the next level.

If we can have THOSE AWARENESS Months like Cancer, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Childhood Health,  Bullying, Gun Violence Awareness and any other awareness that we put up each month, I want to see a Career Awareness and a Voting Awareness month. I suppose you guys like that, huh?

For voting: I think we’re just not engaged. I think the sign came at the top of the year that 2016 will be a “Hard Election” in which the main Administration of the Obamas will be going out in January 2017. And yes, every single hater on the planet will be waving that goodbye flag in a racist manner. President Barack Obama will be deeply missed that he wasn’t that bad after all. Maybe there were those that should have given him more credit of the work he did. Maybe those so-called fools who decided to go against all the calls that Obama did try to bring out should have worked. Even fully try to decide the best course for the Afforable Care Act. In which like Black Lives Matter is working. That’s right I said it!

What does it all mean, you ask? Well yes we’ve made some great strides, but the work IS STILL NOT DONE! That means we have to work hard, do our jobs everyday, give back, fight the forces of racism, sexism, shaming, and any other ISM that is on our target list. For us black folks, we have to always work twice as hard. That will never change no matter who is in office. Enough of us being all so-called conscious after looking at Hidden Colors. Enough of all the mess. Enough of the “I gotta go get my hair done than voting” talk. If we can stand in line to get that new IPhone or at the club looking at Lil’ Boosie, can we stand in line to vote on November 8th and EVERY SINGLE ELECTION DAY AFTER THAT?!

The elders will be leaving us soon and they have already solidified the future, but it’s mainly up to us to take care of the things we have to do to extend the life of groups, organizations, churches, your business connections, the schools, colleges, Alumni Associations, and others. It’s not just the next four years, it’s the four after that. And so on.

So: GenX, Gen Y and Millennials: STOP BEING SO F-ING LAZY! Stop this being that “this won’t effect me”. Oh it will. After Election Day is done, don’t even think about complaining on Facebook, your texing buddies, or any other connection that you weren’t the ones who went to the polls and didn’t cast a ballot. I’ve been voting for 20 years out of my life and I voted in boring elections, high elections, and elections I never really cared about. Plus when Obama was being elected for the first time. But I still voted regardless and I don’t have a complaint to do it!

So why in THE HELL are we tripping? STOP THE PAIN! STOP THE LAZINESS! And just put away all this mess that voting that won’t make it. It will make it, but you have to put in the WORK! I don’t care if you hate Hillary’s guts or like her ideas, or despise the effect of Donald Trump and what he recently said about nasty women, the disabled, getting the clues of turning back the clock with Jim Crow,  and the on going talk about the 1994 Crime Bill that BILL CLINTON put into effect way back. Hillary had nothing to do with that. Let’s be clear on this. Now add that to the radio or websites.

This is not a reality show, nor back in High School where you used to believe EVERYTHING! But in reality, when leaving High School and those rumors, will be addressed and debunked personally.

VOTE UP!

Sincerely,

Stephen

never-forget-black-and-white

NEVER FORGET!

Is that the slogan?

NEVER FORGET!

I ask again: is that the slogan?

That phrase of NEVER FORGET! has been so etched in our minds I can’t even count. We use it everytime when we think of the worst things of humanity that we encounter, or summarize every single time. We know this, because it’s a common thing. We adapt the usage of NEVER FORGET that it’s a constant reminder. From wars, to assasinations, to foundings, and even other concerns.

By which many Americans mostly know about the wars of WWII. Oh this: Remember the Alamo. Or, the most recent: NEVER FORGET September 11th. Of course we shouldn’t forget 9/11 like the Jews can’t forget about the Holocaust. The Native Americans can’t forget about The Day of Mourning in which their ancestors on a Sunday after Church were killed. Thus havin a disdain about Thanksgiving. And so on. But when it comes to us Black folks and Slavery: we were told to “Get over it!” Or “It didn’t happen to you.” Or you’re just playing the race card….This is not a race card thing. When we in the black community talk about slavery or innocent black men and women get gunned down in the streets by the police or by a so-called guard with a gun, of course WE WILL ADDRESS IT! Why, because it needs to be heard, summarized, not swept under the rug , or not forgotten about.

For many years, we’ve been suggested to NEVER FORGET, but however in “Americanized Commentary” in most things we’ve been told to get over it!  TOTAL B.S!!!

No tragedy should not be forgotten. NONE! Black folks, I’m glad we got this sense of not forgetting our history of figures and worst strategies. No question we should NOT forget about our version of what happened with Slavery, Unarmed Shootings, etc. We have been silent or told to shut up about it. NO MORE! If there is a story about findings that were covered up or sealed, you darn right it will be uncovered. Even the topics that non-blacks talk about on Facebook that they well get mad; WILL COME INTO THE LIGHT!

NEVER FORGET – That slavery actually happened. It was real. And the effects of it still lingers today. Just like sexism, or that thing called Body Shaming. And homophobia, and so on.

NEVER FORGET – Black Servicemen that served in wars the early to mid 20th Century, served in nations that were treated well. But when they came back home: TOTAL DISRESPECT!

NEVER FORGET – Black folks, OUR VOTE MATTERS! Just like every other vote should matter.

NEVER FORGET – Black folks will tell you all the time, that no matter what degree you get, or level of assurance to obtain, or highest position to get in the working field, yes they worked hard, but still: the N-word, or some non-POC will say something stupid to say in a racist manner. Let’s be real! And to add, the comment working twice as hard is so clear.

NEVER FORGET – That in addition to the Black on Black Crimes that many non-POC’s still talk about, guess what: White on White crimes do happen that is not overlooked!

NEVER FORGET – Black folks: the legality of getting to finish line has not been so easy for us. Too many obsticles that are still in play. Even in 2016.

NEVER FORGET – Conversely, not EVERYONE is your friend. Or loyal to your family members.

NEVER FORGET – Black Lives Matter talk is still out there. In telling the concerns that need to be talked about no matter who’s listening, and mostly it’s the truth. And, the idea of the talk has not been done before in this country!

NEVER FORGET – White folks: I have to say this in a “patriotic manner”. While you remind us black folks here in America that “We Are Americans”, period. We know this.

But many of us are NOT as Patriotic As YOU!

We’re patriotic to learn about our culture, our heritage, or purpose, or joys, when and how long we mourn, and may others that we know VERY WELL. We need NO permission nor pass to do this. In the words of Taraji P. Henson: We are enough!

NEVER FORGET – Besides 9/11, in which it should not be forgotten,  what about the destruction of Black Wall Street and many other disasters or wars, or bad distractions that MANY sleep on TOO MUCH!

NEVER FORGET! – For those who think that the church is all about money and that pastor behind the money or scams, just to let all know that there are churches in America, especially the Black Churches that really DO WORK! Not play work.

NEVER FORGET! – While many look at black folks as being thugs, some of the folks complaining forgotten that they are neighbors, friends, workers, bosses, advisors, citizens, community leaders and etc.

NEVER FORGET – Education is still a priority. Even college degrees that will point somewhere to propel.

NEVER FORGET – Even though many have made it, it took someone before them to prepare them to make it!

NEVER FORGET – Black media matters. As in black TV, Black Radio, Black websites, Black Bloggers, black etc.

So when I hear: NEVER FORGET out of the mouths of the you know that you know what. Well, yeah, but there are other things that WE SHOULDN’T FORGET about the other dramatic concerns and not the black things that weren’t so great. All stories should be told. No matter what. And not the response of “getting over it” or whatever. This NEVER FORGET mantra can go any direction. Even as I said earlier about slavery, racism and many others. THOSE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!

SO NEVER FORGET THAT!

With all recent concerns about the recent shootings in Louisiana, Texas and Minnesota, and countless others the issue of Trauma is an ongoing concern and subject that lingers in our daily lives. Mainly it effects our children at a young age, and believe it or not, adults can have this effect as well.

For two days, my home church in Milwaukee had hosted two days about Trauma and yes, despite the turnout under 100 that came out, many more in Milwaukee should have came out based on the subject at hand.Yes this was a church event, and many have this disdain about churches and that pastor with that money and those hypocrites. But you know what, I’ll bet many should have given it a chance just to come out anyway. This is not just about “The Church”. This is about the community and the community that harbors!

It began with this statement: What is trauma is, and why do we speak about it.

One of the things I picked up that “Trauma is not an event.” It really isn’t. Trauma is not an event that you pick up on DirecTV or Online Streaming for a Facebook Challenge. It’s not some event in the making. Trauma is a real incident. A lifelong incident  that many have endured and still will endure. Mainly, our children will the ones have to face this concern because whenever things happen, and they are around, they will experience it and it might have a general effect on them for the rest of their lives. Almost like for those that left Milwaukee because of all the shootings. And they moved to Atlanta or Texas to get away from all that. Not very so. I’ll explain that further.

ACE’s was another topic. ACE’s is a acronym for Adverse Childhood Experiences, and it is “single greatest unaddressed public health facing our nation today.” Why it is unaddressed. Why has ACE’s has NOT been talked about in the discussions before. We viewed this video by Dr. Nadine Burke-Harris and there were highlight we summarized.

What we learned in summary: According to Dr. Burke-Harris, she summarized that those with the disorder, the population of those that have it is around the 67% area. 4 or more is around 12.8%.  The exposure of that with ACE’s with 4 or More might develop Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or COPD at 2 1/2 times. Hepatitis: 2 1/2 times. Depression: 4 1/2. Suicidality: 12 times.  And some of the studies that those who have been exposed to ACE’s might be exposed more to develop heart disease or cancer. Either it could be bad behavioral habits, that negatively impact heart such as smoking, substance abuse, etc.  The High Doses of adversity affects Brain Functions, MRI Scan and DNA Structures, and yes the problem is treatable. And the final lesson of that is to get everyone involved.

We also summarized that the ACE’s Study from 1998 confirmed the negative impact of the ACE’s on health behaviors and health outcomes in adulthood. 10 areas have been highlighted that was summarized of primary of White, middle-class, and highly educated individuals: Emotional Abuse, Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Emotional Neglect, Physical Neglect, Mother/Stepmother Treated Violently, Household Substance Abuse, Household Mental Illness, Parental Separation or Divorce, Incarcerated Household Member. The Philadelphia Urban Ace Study had indicators that ranged the following areas:

Witnessed Violence at 40.5%, Felt Discrimination at 34.5%, Unsafe Neighborhood 27.3%, Experienced bullying 7.9% and Lived in foster care 2.5%.

Overall the day back and forth, one of the highlights had opinated views in which teachers whom are black and white see the Trauma effects on students in schools. Also some of our youth members spoke about in the schools they attend that not many social workers are in the schools. They also talked about that some students hold the problems to themselves and don’t fully acknowledge the problems that were transpired. So the basis of trauma, in the sense as I indicated is all around us.

We concluded the first day with five phases we have to know about Trauma’s self care:

  1. Physical
  2. Emotional
  3. Psychological
  4. Spiritual
  5. Social

We also must realize that Trauma, is associated with fear. This goes back to the Philadelphia ACE’s thing about Witnessing Violence, Unsafe in Neighborhoods and experienced the bullying. Does it sound familiar? Look what is going on now with all the shootings and killings of unarmed blacks. And the kids see this first hand. Again, does this sound familiar?
Day Two: The seminar continued with a male version of Trauma. My cousin, Vernon Drew a former MFD Firefighter recently present his viewpoints on hand. Why a male version? Trauma doesn’t discriminate and also this was a highlight for Men’s Health Month. He began with the statement: “There is trauma all around us. We see it everyday.”

How many times we see this? How?! We already know that.

Plus he said, that Trauma is a pure driven response.  Normally, they go up and down and they have to be identified.  We have to be aware. When Trauma happens, no matter what shape or form, we have this reaction to respond. A respond to action, a respond to identify and a respond to solve. We got to be aware at all times. Or just to “stay woke.”

He also identified four different Traumas, and I’m sure we have heard of this: Direct Trauma, Precarious Trauma, Countertraction Trauma, and PTSD. Is there a witness in the house that knows this? It should. But knowing everything else, it’s all connected. A combination of it if you will. My cousin also realized that we have to discuss it. And yes, he also said that we can run from the uses or concerns of Trauma, BUT WE CAN’T IGNORE IT! Just like any other concern of health, crime, or similar situation that we see and view every single day. There are those of us who run from doctors. We can’t ignore doctors! There are those of us who run from mental health. We can’t ignore the fact that Mental Health does exist. I know this is off topic, but there are those who run from being quiet like being introverted. Guess what: Introversion can’t be ignored. So stop apologizing for being quiet! What is one thing we can do, you ask? For a situation like this: Everybody must be trained. Even us must realize that the current system of the is broken. We must realize that in order to repair that system, we must be trained to understand and study why this happens alot. That goes for anything.

A major lesson in regarding about confronting the individuals who do wrong in all: We need to keep going. Another lesson from the discussion was that we need to talk to the children about this. The masses of the children that we know. And to plug in all of the knowledge that we know into them. I know it’s hard to do, and many of them don’t listen, but we need to make them listen! And you the parents who are asking “why is my son or daughter is like this?” Maybe you didn’t go hard enough.  Or not enough training. But seriously, WE ALL MUST be trained, alert, study, review, summarize, discuss and plan to confront the concerns of Trauma. Especially dealing with our own Children!

No one, especially those of us in the black community, must not take it for granted!

No matter if it’s your church, your business, your community organization, your homies, your girlfriends, your fraternity, your sorority or any group you pay your way, or if you just joined up like right now. I know many can run from it, or make a joke about it, but it can’t be ignored!

Let’s get to work.
