Men of the world: Today of the 19th Day of November, is our annual day of us. International Men’s Day is here and yet many still complain. I think the many that are complaining are those of the feminists who constantly bash men like a bad habit. Females, you need to calm your nerves in all, this part is just for the guys. And there is a message in all this: it’s just our one stinking day of being appreciated.

With all that’s going on in the world full of mostly men wrecking the shops like ill-mannered clockwork, it’s safe to say that yes, there are of us that do the manly things around the game that need and should be paying attention too. Of course, men have to step up. OF COURSE! But the question is: how?

photogrid_1542663634384

Here in Milwaukee, my local United Methodist Men’s folks within the past year have the decision to come together to generate our ability to revive a Men’s Group. In a way to get us actively involved in our local United Methodist Churches and also among each other. In a way of evangelism, mission, and outreach. And other factors that favor men. Here is the kicker: Men’s group in churches are a gray area. It’s not like the well rounded like the women’s groups. Yes, the women outnumber the dudes 3 to 1 in about everything. But the dudes have and must hold their own! Of course, we heard about the Men being the Heads and women being the tails. But mainly folks are forgetting, not every man can’t lead!

When this international men’s day was coming up, I had to reference back 8 months ago when we were asking the same ol’ tired question around International Women’s Day: “When is International Men’s Day?” Over and over again it was a hot-button topic and still is. Men, did we forget this? For the folks who complain and piss and moan all day: did we complain?! I’m sure many will complain in the next 4 months into 2019 that when another Women’s Day comes around, there will be many more complaints about asking about a men’s day that is worldwide. Already, folks are saying “We have Father’s Day!” or “The whole month of November is for the Movember Movement to get men to think about their health……” or “the pay gap is unfair and men are just messing up to get what we think!” Ya think?! Not really close. Of course, the pay gap is unfair and unbalanced. But that’s not the reason why International Men’s Day shouldn’t exist. And plus not every MAN is a FATHER! Let’s be clear, females! Stop saying Happy Father’s Day to the men who don’t have kids! When the men have children, then you can say that!

As I was reading the think tanks via Social Media, The Guardian Newspaper out of the UK, and talk shows like Ellen today, and even The Forum on Real Resistance Radio this morning: the theme of the day was talking about International Men’s Day. Many have joked about this day occurring, but when you think about these stats from the International Men’s Day Website:

“Men face a series of health challenges that need to be addressed in order to have our communities function to their fullest potential.”

Current research tells us that:
  1. men have a suicide rate 3 times higher than women
  2. 1 in 3 men have been the victims of domestic violence
  3. men on average die 4-5 years before women
  4. men are nearly twice as likely to suffer from lung cancer than women
  5. men are nearly twice as likely to suffer from heart disease than women

With all the other health concerns listed here: we know that the average man dies early, getting lung cancer and yes heart disease/prostate cancer/colon cancer mostly more than women. BUT…..when you talk about Men dying more of Suicides and above all else being victims of Domestic Violence! Yes ladies, men can be victims of being abused physically, mentally, financially and yes spiritually. And other bad influential beings. Now we know why the International Men’s Day has come into the light since 1999. Be advised ladies!

It’s almost in comparison like, when we have let’s say in the United Methodist Church, a day set aside for Women for Women’s Day (depending on March or May) and yet Men’s Day is set aside for mostly in June around Father’s Day. And here’s another kicker: I don’t hear any complaints about having a UMW Group and UMM Group so why are we tripping about having a day for the Men? Grow up, folks.

Men of the world: yes all of us dudes that are single, married, widowed, divorced, in life partner relationships of any kind, active in the classroom, active at work, active in the Church, active in the community of choice, active as introverts (yes I’m one of them), active in the health fields, active in business ownership, active with fraternities, active in the military/veterans groups, active in entertainment, active in politics (in a nice way) active in many other factions: continue to guide your end of the ship to get to the point of where YOU want to go.

Men of the world whom are unemployed, underemployed, underappreciated, forgotten, overlooked, beaten up, scared for life, picked on, generally attacked, disrespected, physically/mentally/spiritually and financially attacked (by both MEN and WOMEN no matter what year or timeframe), discouraged, humiliated, embarrassed, or any other feeling of disrespect or left out: I would say man up,  but excuse my french: HELL NO! If you are a man that has been wronged by these words, it’s ok. If you felt this way or still feeling this way, you are NOT A PUNK! I don’t know who started this crap to think that Men aren’t supposed to feel this way (either men or women) but this crap MUST STOP WITH MEN, PERIOD! It must stop with a strong family. It must stop with a strong education. Strong jobs, strong economic values, strong health and wellness, strong community, strong neighborhoods, strong faith, and a strong structure of better endeavors that many must grasp! It must STOP! And the rebuilding begins with healing. And I don’t know that forgiveness comes in at times, even though it’s hard to forgive.

And to the men who are the Dark Horses or the Unsung Heroes. And I’m one of these also. Those whom have been undiscovered and still have some talent: the folks will know your name. But for now, keep them guessing and keep your game under wraps. Be that STILL dark horse that many (either other men and women) will stop denying you! They will regret you for not picking you to join their team and I dare say employment!

Men, even though that this International Men’s Day of 2018 is coming to a close for another year, and all have happened, what will we do for International Men’s Day 2019: The 20th Anniversary? What will we do between this International Men’s Day and the next? What will we do? We hear it from the Women that Men need to step up. I agree! But again I ask as Man: a Black man from the United States of America: what’s next to step up too? That’s the million dollar question.

Now, ladies. You may talk.  But enjoy OUR International Men’s Day, gents! Between now and the next November 19th every time. But not every March, OK?!

For more info about International Men’s Day, here is their link. I would say that this should be useful around every November 19th. But it can be useful to summarize every day!

Oh, let me go in on this: White Supremacy is a heck of a drug and it’s a drug that many of you white folks know all too well. Be honest. What began with a group of young white dudes over a statue with Tiki Torches, lead to a violent demonstration of protesting. And the thing is we know it. Everyone talking about the use of terrorism. Foreign and Domestic. This was an act of “Domestic Terrorism” when you saw a driver out of Ohio plowing through a crowd of protesters killing one of them at 32 years old of the name Heather Heyer. Or see some of the alt-right in Body Armor with Swat Helmets, Shields with Racial Symbols on it, Flags mixed with the Nazi signs and the American Flag Colors clashing with fights and yanking signs. Oh yes: Make America Great Again, not! Having all this again is about a freaking statue! A Robert E. Lee Statue! Really?!

This whole thing of the clash was like a throwback episode on Jerry Springer. For you younger readers, he once had Nazis and the KKK on his show many times. Oh and yes they were saying crap like “I got your mom in the trunk of my car!” Oh, don’t tell me you remember that! But this was no show. This was an act of criminal in our own backyard. For the clips of what I’m talking about, you might want to do a checking on Youtube and do a search of “Jerry Springer KKK” or something like that to view the clips. And I know that long ago many were getting mad at him on for having the Klan on his show. But then again, what we have seen back then, is no different from what we recently saw on Saturday. And oh, it was a long time ago to remind ourselves that they are still out there processing the hate that consumed the DNA of America for YEARS! We know it. Don’t deny it!

And these same folks again: whom were doing the “Tiki Torch thing”, are probably the same folks whom are in the workplaces, served as officers, have high positions of rank, neighborhood organizations, well known members or employees of country clubs, the bar after work for happy hour, and the scary thought: they are also at your kids’ universities or schools TEACHING or ADVISING! – Again, school is back in session. And for your students, that classmate of yours might be related to someone’s uncle, cousin, grandson/daughter and parents.

Did I mention that they root for the same team as you do? Yeah, let that also sink in!

And Speaking of the KKK: Former leader David Duke said this remark: “We are determined to take our country back. We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump.”

CALLOUT: Take our country back?! Back from whom?!!! For all you White Nationalist and fans of them, this wasn’t your country, to begin with. Stop that mess. You are playing yourselves!

Most of every ethnic folk who are from other countries except the Native Americans are immigrants. For my black folks, our ancestors were slaves. Forced to learn new languages. Branded. Shackled. Loaded on boats forcefully. Get the picture?

Oh, let me go in on the leader of 45Land. I heard his remark about the “all sides” thing. Plus his Twitter message also was WEAK! It was weak and stupid! Many are saying that his remarks should have gone in and told these Alt-right, KKK and Neo-Nazi idiots that they need to chill the mess out! Did he call them out? No! He has not! And the strange thing was most of them probably voted for old man Donnie back in 2016! But the Governor of Virginia, Terry McAuliffe told them to “Go Home.” They are not welcome here. Don’t ever come back! Now that’s a real statement! And the fact of the matter is, #45 was just scared to admit that some of his supporters whom probably voted up for him the most were connected to the White Supremacists Groups and the dude didn’t call them out in this matter. Oh, he wants them to matter to him due to the one thing that matters: THE VOTES! That’s all there is! Nothing but the votes to get him elected AGAIN! The fools who did all that stunt mess on Saturday in Charlottesville must have been the same supporters who have voted up for #45. Think about it!

Also, I like everyone else noticed that the representatives of The American Legion were in the background. And many should have mentioned about a Veteran in Oregon was recently killed on a Light Rail Route. And the reason was standing up to hate speech. Where was the mention of that in The 45 Land White House? The answer, nowhere to be found! Totally lacking. And also, what is the American Legion’s stance on what has happened? As well as the entire Legion Family of The Sons of the American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary and the Legion Riders. Matter of fact what is this teaching the Boys and Girls State for the American Legion? Hmmm……Let that SINK IN! And don’t forget the Masons, Elks, and any other Fraternity and Sorority that may have those Frats and Sorors that might have this in them? Come on now, don’t speak at once!

The hate of this thing of White Supremacy is still at large like a bandit. And when the proverbial thing of the remarks, “There is no real racism in America” is really a smokescreen of overshadowing that it should not be in the discussion. I hate to say that it is in the discussion. Even when you are silent and don’t say anything. Your mouth and mind say one thing, but the eyes say another. Of course when you have that talk at the dinner table, and yes many of us will have the talk/discussion about the use of racism which many know very well, wait until the holidays come and you will hear the mess out of the family members that might spew out the N-word or be having this hate mentality against anyone that is not them! Tell me I’m wrong! This is an early spoiler alert for the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. You know its coming. And when it does come, what will we be doing about it?

In the last couple of days, the new 45 old Donnie President as we know, had called out the actions of the Neo-Nazis and Supremacist groups. But took too long in responding to the groups of being Neo-Nazi and Supremacists/Nationalists. He took WAY TOO LONG! Slow-stepping! Why? Like I said, many of them went to him because of the votes! #45 claims that he doesn’t know David Duke, but David Duke knows about HIM! That’s all there is. Plus in the last couple days, there have been parades in the response of the Charlottesville clash, even my hometown of Milwaukee had one in the Riverwest Neighborhood recently. And I’m sure that there will be many more anti-parades in the response of Charlottesville.

And about the toppling of the statues, that was crazy! Reminds me of the toppling the statue of Sadaam Hussein during the Iraqi Freedom War in the early 2000’s. And seeing a young boy, whom probably is about adult age now, slapping his shoes on the statue. But already, a statue in North Carolina has been well “toppled” and there are folks in the area (police) having the houses checked to see who done it. They are not playing!

So with all this, has America regretted voting for Ol’ Donnie? If Hillary had a different mindset of her campaign (which also should have come to Wisconsin) she would be the President in the Office NOW! But we have this Tycoon on a fake leader to worry about for the next three years and he’s off to a rocky start. For all those who are in the backwoods that voted him up, even to those who are other ethnics (including black folks) ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? If you’re not happy that stuff like this is going on and with all that mix of White Supremacy you know darn well the country is guilty. Remember that we should know that racism and all that racial stuff we know is part of America’s DNA. Let that AGAIN sink in!

There will be more commentary forthcoming after this.

I was going to wait after the Olympics to blog again. But the reason for this, the Northside of Milwaukee was up in total anger with fires and tension. And to connect with social media for those of where to go and meetup and havoc. How stupid.

I had to break away from watching the Olympics in which was a historical performance, to see the ironic tension of looting, fires, deep tension and many other concerns that plagued this city. 44th and Auer is where the shootings started. A 23 year old was shot and killed in the view of the Milwaukee Police Department. And yes after that, all hell broke loose. And a weapon was stolen with 23 shots rang out. And bricks being thrown.

The hell that broke loose, also continued with bus shelters, and street lights near Sherman and Auer were damaged. The BP Gas Station in the same area where a protest happened a month ago: burned. Right near Sherman Park. Further blocks away, more fires happened at a Jet Beauty Store near 35th and Burleigh. Also a O’Reilly Auto Parts in the same area, engulfed in flames. Nearby, a BMO Harris Bank right near my old Middle School had smoke issues in the building . All of this many feel that the black community has not had no love. And the thing is, it’s a warning sign.

Now I know that many had to go in about Milwaukee in which like comparing this riot to a championship win. Or there are those who don’t care about the city and having this shrugging shoulders mixed with pinned up frustrating matters. For all those who think have the answers and are acting foolish, SIT DOWN and Shut up! Clearly those don’t have all the answers. I don’t give a care if you transplanted to Texas or Atlanta or the East Coast, or the West Coast or a well known international region, you’re living there now. But I’ll bet none of you never actually really care about this city known as Milwaukee!

If so, PROVE ME WRONG! Send a long distance donation to your old schools and charitable functions you left behind.

Many of you have this noting about “oh well that’s Milwaukee for you when the violence happens.” Really?! Is that what those think?  Seriously? All you have to do is go on Twitter, Facebook in all and with the negative remarks on the likes of CNN commenters saying “yeah tear down that stuff, you bunch of hoodlums!” If many of you so-called Americans say that, I consider that being unpatriotic! And many folks know it!

Now for those of us here in Milwaukee. Those of us who work, pay our taxes, contribute to our causes, we need to rise more. We need to rise up like a freaking phoenix. We can have the clergy coming out, the community leaders, the fraternity, the sorority, the employed, the unemployed, the underemployed, the neighbor that looks out, the neighborhood leaders, the hardcore activist, the conscious, the not so-conscious, the in between, the Introverted, Extroverted, Ambiverted, the Unsung Heroes, and many other categories: Rise like the Phoenix! It’s time to do it. For the police, firefighters, EMTs, your are in this as well! We pay our taxes, so your salary stays on point.

Just the other day, a day after all the burnings, I took a trip near the corner of Sherman and Burleigh and my reaction to the damage in person of the BP Gas Station was just shocked. The anger. The concern. And began to ask why this. Why would ANYONE like this would destroy a Gas Station?! Why? I went to my Nikon Camera and like everyone else, I snapped about several pictures that was like this:

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee5

And also, if many have not guessed it, a stream of cars on Sherman Boulevard going south and north was nearly jammed packed. The same with vehicles going East on Burleigh Street. Television Trucks of ABC7, WKOW, CNN and many others from the different parts of America came out to cover this tradgey that has sparked my home city’s unrest. Also, there folks preaching the word on Megaphones on both corners. Water was on sale on the corner where Sherman Park is along with individals giving away cupcakes and free hugs.

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee2

As I left the area, I driven North on 44th Street towards Auer Avenue, this was the area that the shooting began. And plus it was nearly jammed packed with cars and also residents and ministers as Salvation Army Chaplians.

The day after, I went further east to take pictures of the 7th District Milwaukee Police Station where it was roped off with Caution tape and boarded up. Also, the BMO Bank was boared up after it was struck by fire. A MetroPCS store was boared up after looting as well as a restaurant of KFC/Taco Bell was broken up with glass. Nearby an O’Reilly AutoParts store was destroyed by fire as well as a Jet Beauty Store not only looted, but also was destroyed by fire as well.

Ladies and Gentlemen of America, this was the experience that Milwaukee endured during that weekend of unrest. And like many others in the past, it was an unrest concern that never should have happened. The Sherman Park Neighborhood is a legendary neighborhood. I know so because my older sister and I used to reside in the area between the years 2000 and 2006. We resided on Grant Boulevard in a church parsonage in which was near Center Street. I used to catch the 22 MCTS bus to go either to work, school, shopping or church. Nearby, there was a barbershop where I used to go to get my haircuts. An organization called ASHA Family Services is in that area along with the Ritz Fish Market near the corner of 38th and Center, and it was and is owned by my family members. My old elementary school, 38th Street School, (now under the Milwaukee College Prep) is in that area. Washington High School, my high school’s rival is in the area. The homes in the area are almost legendary with years going back to about 100 years old. This is what I learned back then and understand now. Plus also, the Sherman Park Neighborhood is an active diverse neighborhood and still is. And plus I’m a northside born resident.

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee10

But I want to go back to this shooting. And I know that many are asking: what compelled this act of shooting that lead to this burning of several buildings, cars, houses, and others that had NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS MATTER?! We know already that Milwaukee is the well known factor of being the most hyper-segregated city in the United States. That is part of the things that goes mostly heard and widely examined in the entire state of Wisconsin. Many have this notion of leaving Milwaukee and go to places like Atlanta just to get away from the violence and racism. And also talking smack about the city in which they failed to help out. Oh trust me, we had a whole lotta folks have felt that way!  But many of us WHO ARE STILL HERE, are upholding our accountabilty of our taxes, our jobs, our way of life, and purpose of being more engaged to solve the problems of our well being. What we have expereinced here most recently, is nothing more what happened 49 years ago before I was born: when Milwaukee had the race riots of 1967 and the black community back then was going up in flames. That area is now called MLK Drive in Bronzeville. And the trauma of being in the predictament of the segregated climate still lingers even today. Not just in Milwaukee. But that same symptom also exist like racism in America’s DNA. I don’t give a crap where you are in America, that racism DNA has not gone away. Even after 240 years.

But in this era, the 23 year old Syville Smith, whom had a CCW Licence, and was armed with a stolen weapon from Waukesha, was shot to death. Nevermind the history of his life, or the crimes he may have done, his killer per se happens to appear as a officer of the Milwaukee Police Department. Many of us in Milwaukee looked at the person’s picture on Facebook. And according to a family member of the victim, it was known that they go way back to High School here in Milwaukee. Try Pulaski High School, and no disrespect to the Pulaski Rams in all. Plus W.E.B. Dubois High School in the Marshall Complex.

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee9

Other points, there are those around Milwaukee should have kept their mouths closed. One of them is Sheriff David Clarke. The reason being he kept hinting about the use of the National Guard to aid the Police Officers during the Unrest incidents. And in his own words having the gaul to blame the single mothers of Milwaukee for the incidents and and of course: Black Lives Matter. REALLY SHERIFF CLARKE?! He must be high on something to say that. And plus, Black Lives Matter or his words “Black Lies Matter” were not the reasons why some buildings in Milwaukee went up in flames. Sheriff Clarke already embarasses himself and Milwaukee County hanging out with the likes of Donald Trump. HOW DEPRESSING OF HIM! Yes he’s still the Sheriff, but in the next two years he and another guy, Scott Walker  MUST BE VOTED OUT! And part of the blame that Sheriff Clarke has his job is because of those in the Black Community voted up for him to have another  4 years. Why? Because he’s black. I think the Black Community needs to rethink their votes for Clarke. Speaking of Walker, dude had to come to a black church in Milwaukee not to far from the BP Gas Station. Let me remind Milwaukee one thing: Walker doesn’t give a da*n about Milwaukee! He doesn’t care about the Black Community, nor the needs. Remember the High Speed Rail Train that was BUILT in the Black Community? Go back to that. That was derailed by HIM due to one word: politics. Now he wants in to be supportive of the Black Community. Really Walker?! Oh please! And additional group of folks outside of the city, who don’t even in live in Milwaukee had the nerve to put the blame on President Barack Obama. Obama is not the blame for this! So stop it non-Milwaukeeans!

But of all of the folks who seemed to be in supportive the most of Milwaukee, is Mayor Tom Barrett. Call me crazy, but he is. Another is the still Wisconsin Senate Rep from the 4th District, Lena Taylor. Ashanti Hamilton, President of the Common Council, Alderman Russell Stamper II, and Alderwoman Chantia Lewis are just a few. The curfew in Milwaukee under 18 is in effect. Sherman Park closes at 6pm and roped off with orange. When it switches to the MPS Curfew starting September 1st that’s every night. And that was activated this past Sunday.

Speaking of Sunday, I was in church and during our “joys and concerns” we highlighted the concerns of the Unrest Issue. One of my millennial church members talked about the incident in which it was witnessed in person. She indicated that her younger brother was about 2 cars behind the shooter’s car going east on Burleigh near the Jet Beauty Store, and indicated that if one of those bullets hit him, he would have been gone. She also comforted an Police Officer near the Beauty Supply Store who was going though that high alertness of concern of another citizen. The last thing she said: God Bless You. And a tear was starting to roll on the Officer. I just had to tell you that because whenever I hear about church folks being all judgmental or acting hypocritical, NOT ALL OF THEM ARE LIKE THIS. And my church member is a single mother in her 20’s.And is a prayer warrior in my church under the United Methodist banner. Is she always like this? Just maybe you need to visit The New St. James Community Church UMC in Milwaukee and find out. And plus the setting of our church is in a County Park Pavilion on Milwaukee’s East Side. And the church is the first African-American United Methodist Church established in the city since 1949.

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee8

Just today, the ATF was sprung into action to survey the damages. And it was announced that a reward of $10,000 for anyone who knew what happened and also those responsible for those alleged damages. For all you snitches in Milwaukee: FESS UP! Don’t go into Stop Snitching Mode like cowards back in the day. Whenever the Federal Government comes on the scene, it’s is a huge concern. The sticks got a whole wide larger than before. This is not a game! It’s real lives were and are still at stake!

Milwaukee is 170 years old. And in the 170 years it faced open gaps of unemployment, segregation, violence, arson, race riots, shootings, festivals going in and out (African World Festival) educational values questioned and answered, underemployment of applicants/jobs, and many other concerns and factors. However in the 170 years, Milwaukee remains a underestimated city that has some good in it. We can talk about Summerfest, the Art Museum, The Pabst Theater, Riverside Theater, the newly soon to be Lakefront Gateway Area, the soon to be Northwestern Mutual Tower, the other festivals that do go past Summerfest, Garfield Days, Juneteenth Day Parades, Bronzeville Arts, riding Bublr Bikes, and soon to be construction of the New Bucks Arena and the Streetcar.

Why has Milwaukee been like this?

It’s not Chicago, Atlanta, LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Texas, Florida, and other cities and states that mostly “knows” black folks. Milwaukee as medium-sized as it is, its well known for Harley-Davidson, MillerCoors, our County Parks, and past relations with being the Beer Capital of the World, Bowling Capital of the world at one time, or known in the past for shows like Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley. Oh, did I mention that The Blues Brothers, Public Enemies, and  Transformers were filmed here? Famous Americans like Bud Selig, Eric Benet, Al Jarreau, Gene Wilder, George Tillman Jr, Charlotte Rae, Speech, Tank were all born here. The Core DJ’s a well known DJ organization is known for DJ’s around the world, but it was started in Milwaukee. Wrestling has a history here. From AWA of Da’ Crusher, to the birth of Austin 3:16. And also currently in the WWE, Austin Aries is a born resident.

Milwaukee does have a Urban Scene that is so underground that is hard to get airplay on a V100, a Jammin 98.3, KISS FM, and others. Also Milwaukee does have some support of it’s genre of Hip Hop, but the fans say that the City has haters because the lack of support. However, not all Milwaukeeans don’t listen to rap music! Some listen to Polka or other genres. But every ethnic group has their own thing.Well known here: Ray Nitti, Rusty P’s, Charles Walker Band, Element, and Coo Coo Cal just to name a few.

For radio, we know WTMJ. But I know 1290 when it was the talk of the town. WNOV as many know us the lone wolf of black radio that many folks still listen to. Plus also there are podcasts, and other radio stations like WUWM that is well known for based on UW-Milwaukee.

Milwaukee to me is misunderstood. Very misunderstood. Our education system isn’t that bad. The Milwaukee Public Schools is legendary around here and it’s the same age as the city.I am a product to call myself an MPS Alum because of the schools of 38th Street School, Jackie Robinson Middle School and John Marshall High School. Not only that, I come from a line of educators that taught in MPS in my family!  Some of our famous folks are MPS Alums also. Our Colleges of the Milwaukee Area Technical College, Mount Mary, Marquette University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee are fully known educational institutions. I’m a product of the Milwaukee Area Technical College which I got an Associates Degree in the year 2000. The program was Printing and Electronic Publishing in which I got my hands dirty in Bindery and Offset Press.

Part of Milwaukee’s history was the tanneries. Pfister and Vogel, Albert & Trostels should ring a bell. And some of our family members used to have those good paying jobs growing up! Now the tanneries are gone, and mostly the Health Care fields are in exchange, with retail, customer service, and some manufacturing are left. Printing was also huge here. It’s still exists under the digital level, but not really enough as it once was.

Milwaukee has some strong programs here that many recognize like the Running Rebels, True Skool, and mostly now known is getting recognition: We Got This. Also part of the strong programs, does have a direct connection with local churches, community counterparts, some well known companies, and neighborhood block watch organizations.

But all in all, like any other city, Milwaukee is not alone with problems. And with the issue of this recent shooting of Syville Smith is not a stranger of gun violence period.

June 2nd has come and gone. And it was for one important reason: National Gun Violence Awareness.

Many in the cities, towns, states, across America was indeed lit in Orange in the support the safety behind and in front of the fire arms. Including my home city of Milwaukee was also apart of the one day Orange Awareness. Now for awhile it was wearing orange around Halloween. Or Thanksgiving or any orange related event. But for this, and the craziness of social media, the orange thing with this awareness has caught on. It really began in Chicago, where Hadiya Pendelton was killed near President Obama’s Chicago Home. The color orange, was a favorite of hers, and her friends and family carried that in memory. This was in 2013.

But now, the idea of the awareness of Orange, has caught on. And the reason behind of all this, killings behind those whom have guns and got away, and being aware that Gun Violence is nothing to play with. Many cities in San Fransciso, New York, Minnesota, Chicago, and many others lit their landmarks. Even also, Milwaukee did this:

Yep that’s my voice in the video and the scene was at the Lakefront near the Milwaukee Art Museum, and Discovery World Museum. Does Milwaukee look good in Orange or what?

It was a great way to show solidarity.

However, there is always those gun freaks. Had to put up all the 2nd Amendment thing.

Man listen: for all you “gun freaks” who feel that your 2nd Amendments are being barraged with your hatred of Orange, you’re being naïve and missing the boat. This has nothing to do with controlling your guns or controlling the 2nd Amemdment.  You must think all the controlling hoopla is effect you shooting of your Desert Eagles, your AK’s or your hunting rifles. Oh, you had to make yourselves known for having Orange Guns on June 2nd to feel empowered. Actually it makes you feel weak! And I’ve look at the Instagram pics of some of you posing with your Glocks or Smiths and Wessons, and machine guns like you’re somebody. REALLY?!

Hear me out when I say this: THE ORANGE IS NOT TAKING AWAY YOUR GUNS! Your 2nd Amendment Rights that you hold dear so bad, is not making you giving up your bullets! Give it a rest, already!

What I’m trying to say is, you’re not hearing from those who have been  killed by gunfire. I had a relative back in 2002 that was killed by guns and trust me, for the last 14 years this summer I wish he were still here with the family. But his life was cut short and due to his non existence ending at 21, he couldn’t vote more, have a job more and many others And you also are not hearing from the countless others of those who were younger, that were killed by guns on purpose by those whom that are not on your NRA or Glock Club List!

Milwaukee is no stranger when it comes to Gun Violence. Let me remind the “Sgt. Tackleberry Gun Freak Wanna Bes” who act as posers on Social Media: in 2015, Milwaukee had 145 homicides. Go research it. And most of that, was dealt with Gun Violence. Chicago had 468 murders at the end of 2015. Overall, 2015 was the year that Mass Shootings happened. Don’t act all innocent. And most of them are black. Even BLACK CHILDREN!

Look, I got gun owners in my family and I don’t tell them to put up their Guns and Ammo. But they darn know about the use of SAFETY! Isn’t that what the day is about? SAFETY! Yes you can be safe without flashing your glock in public. I wonder, if all you gun freaks were to flash that, and in a wrong part of town, your funeral. And your chambers would be failing.

I’ll bet you’re the same folks who had to go in on President Obama in stock piling your weapons that he might come in and get them. Oh, let’s see: It’s been about 8 years and he has NOT came for your guns at all. Plus since he’s a gun owner, doing skeet shooting at Camp David, he’s being responsible unlike many of those who pose like fools on Social Media.

So what this is for a lot of us, that there is a day that many of can be aware. And since it has came and went, I’ll go along and say this: The Struggle Continues!

As long as their concerns about gun violence, and with the sake of the children being caught in the crossfire, it’s up to everyone to make sure that we are NOT playing! As long as their concerns about gun violence, and with the sake of the children being caught in the crossfire, it’s up to everyone to make sure that we are NOT playing!

This probably might not set well with those of my demonination. But this will get an attention: The demonination of the United Methodist Church. Right now in Portland Oregon, there is the General Conference taking place and in this conference, like many will see monthly will talk about the decisions made to see where the direction of the UMC might go in terms of variety of topics, concerns, groups, or many other aspects. The actual defininton is as follows courtesy of the United Methodist Church:

The highest legislative body in The United Methodist Church. The voting membership consists of an equal number of clergy and lay delegates elected by the annual conferences. General Conference convenes every quadrennium (four years) to determine the denomination’s future direction. It is the only body that can speak officially for the denomination.

This we know mostly.

But this is not what I’m talking about.

The main concern of all of this, is what happened in the pause of the moment concerning this demonstration:

Yes, what you are looking at is a protest and demonstration of the actions of Black Lives Matter. Yes, the movement has now reached the door of the United Methodist Church. And I have to say, with all what’s going on with use of some of black UMC churches with some elements of the LGBTQIA folks in the mix of concern, this is another conversation that the church MUST ADDRESS! We need to wake up!

Now there are those either in The United Methodist Church and outside of the Church are on the side of “Oh look the UMC Members got those BLM Gangsters in there conference. Very hypocritical. ALL LIVES MATTER!”

REALLY?!

I need to tell you so-called “All Lives Matter” vocal fans that when you mention that in a sense, don’t you dare EVER say or think that notion. Obviously, you really don’t know what ALL LIVES MATTER means yourselves. You probably might bust out all the “I got Black Friends” speeches, and again spar up the ol’ MLK Speeches about color and character. I’m going to bust heads open: Clearly many of you saying this or implying this, and it doesn’t matter if you are UMC or not, you are part of the problem! Yeah I said it! And for far too long, black folks’ voices and concerns have been NOT heard, or spoken to address the situations of what is really taking place! Racism, Sexism, targeting those whom are innocent and Black, effects of Slavery,  the new Jim Crow, and those whom are refusing service due to being black. Think about it! And it happens in 2016. And a long time.

And don’t bust the comments of “black on black crime”please. It’s not here for it. Not once here also, there weren’t any commentaries of “white on white” crime. Which does happen by the way!

Here in Wisconsin for example, there are “alleged angles” that Black Churches in UMC were and are under attack  about subjects or concerns that were hitting the fan! Even also if the church’s pastors who have served A LONG TIME, got the boot to make way for those whom are younger and appeal to the current era of worshipers. And sometimes it might take a black D.S. to do the dirty work. Even taking out mininsters who have all the credentials and acculades, and black and sometimes disabled are being shut down to be lay leaders. There are only a few BLACK United Methodist Churches in Milwaukee know about this too well similarly. One former UMC black pastor was ousted forcefully on “inappropiate purposes” due to the fact the church previously served, was in (in the D.S.’ words) declining numbers per say and is now out of the UMC doing his own church ministry. Other ministers probaly felt the shifts and left. And on a side note, I have a connection to these churches because again, I grew up United Methodist and one of the UMC Churches I go to has been in business since 1949 in Milwaukee. And at times, I hate to say that there was many times that the Wisconsin Conference (with all due respect on the nice things accomplished) has NOT had the back of these Black UMC’s! I believe it’s time from the TOP ON DOWN that the Bishops and many other districts NEED TO HEAR the concerns about the Black United Methodist Churches that is ongoing and hidden to talk at the table. And not to be left out of the talk period. The last bishop, whom was black, LISTENED to us Wisconsin UMC black folks of our concerns. Period!

And I say this unapologetically, as a 4th Generation Member of the UMC.

This mix of Black Lives Matter and the General Conference of the UMC appears to the haters like oil and water. But when those say “All Lives Matter” is nothing more than a mere smoke screen with White Supremacy. That’s right I said it! On the pic, there was a sign that read All #BlackLivesMatter, and below: it listed the items: Bisexual, transgender, poor, heterosexual, lesbian, gay, disabled, women, men, young, and children. Well, I have to say again, this might not sit well with the rest of the denominaton, but the talk of the concerns in our Black UMC Churches and Black UMC things  MUST BE ADDRESSED MORE! Just like the others.

I know we got the BMCR. And for many many years the BMCR has addressed the black concerns in and outside of the church. But I think NOW the BMCR and the high authority of the UMC must address the issues of Black Lives Matter as well as any other Black concerns that the high leadership of the UMC MUST LISTEN!

We are all suppose to eat, sleep, breathe, drink, pray, worship, spread the good news, and fellowship as God’s Children, right? We know we do. But many of us need to be reminded of that. And even though that many do follow that notion, some of us I hate to say need the “Come to Jesus meeting”. Even if you say “All Lives Matter!” in a sarcastic, anti-conscious and threating manner. But you know the All Lives Matter, MATTERS to God. Just my opinion.

For those that lead the fight or this new fight in the UMC, I say as a black man that is a member of the UMC, out of Wisconsin, 4th generation in all: that is what the fleek I’m talking about! My childhood Pastor said in a sermon, “Speak truth to power, and power must listen!”  Don’t hold back nothing but the butt naked truth! Let them know!

Mad respect to those who lead that protest. Mad respect to the Black Pastors and Associates that did this! I’m assuming that the spark from that Black Lives Matter demonsration will be the new fire that many United Methodist Churches of Color must pass along!

Enough with the sitting quietly and listen. But even silence, will spark also new voices to commence.

Like the pastor said at the end of the protest, “this is our church as much as it is their church.”

As it should be.

Can they get an Amen?

Read more about the protest here via the Reconciling Ministries Network and the United Methodist Church News.

I’m about to go off here. Not much.

For all those who say, All Lives Matter, I need to ask again, If All Lives Really Matter, what is up with folks, especially folks of color are getting pushed out or getting beaten up at these Donald Trump Rallies?! Seriously, all that All Lives Matter talk is just that: a distraction! Now before I proceed any further, let’s take a look of what I’m talking about:

This is one example: what is real deal about this? Some of the Black students were accused per se were causing a disturbance. But they say they were inquiring knowledge about what Donald Trump was saying! We’re they trying to take notes to feedback to their friends or groups? Don’t know. But they got kicked out. WOW! Many are saying, All Lives Matter.

Example #2: Look at this footage from the young turks.

Again: All Lives Matter? Seriously?!

What about this?!

Come on folks! All Lives Matter?

Oh and the dude Joseph Pryor screaming with racist anger towards the black college student, Shiya Nwanguma wants to be Marine. And he’s being bumped down to a DEP in the Corps.  I Just found out that the acts of what he did, he got booted out of Corps. And just a reminder, majority of the Military are African-Americans! Look it up. And later on, a VFW guy had to shove this same College Student at this recently rally which was later out of the door. SERIOUSLY! Why would a VETERAN like him would do that so someone that they don’t know? And this man served in the Uniform. Look, I got respect for those that served, but this guy an older man who served in shoving this college woman, it was really disgusting! And I’m saying this as a Black man, and a son of a Vietnam Veteran, a Grandson of WWII and relative of those whom have served previous including Iraqi Freedom. You VFW folks, who do all this shoving need to check yourselves!

Why I am writing this?  Real simple. It’s about those whom somewhat woke up and have this hate on those who don’t see the country like everyone else. And it’s a dangerous weapon that even to see Donald Trump witnessing this. Seeing folks getting beaten up or roughed up with all the N-word mentalities, and the ending result in the previous video, chanting All Lives Matter.

Newsflash: those who chant and display Black Lives Matter have woken up also!

I ask again: If All Lives REALLY Matter:

What’s up with the college black students, getting escorted out not doing anything wrong?

What is up with Time Magazine Photographers getting roughed up by the Secret Service? Really?! If Obama saw that, they might not be employed anymore!

And what is up with these Donald Trump Fans at these rallies with those whom served, and want to serve pushing out an African-American College Student for no reason?! Man listen: I know some may or may not press charges, but I was like that, there will be pressing charges for assault and battery! And the thing is, that should also lead to a lawsuit!

I ask again: IF ALL LIVES REALLY MATTER?

That smoke screen to a chant of Black Lives Matter is nothing more than a mere distraction! Yeah I know that Black History Month of 2016 is in the books. But this: THIS kind of mess that is going on in Obama’s last term is NOT COOL! And it hasn’t been cool before his presidency began! Will I go a Trump Rally, excuse my french: HELL NO! Like everyone else, I’ll be looking at all the mess online and on the Social Media Stuff, plus Youtube with all the mess and shaking my head.

What’s worse than that: Man listen, some of you commentators on YouTube talking about the black student ‘should have been punched” or something like that are real A-holes! Lot of you fools hide behind the da*n keyboards with liberties flying, and won’t even to come away from the machines in person. Y’all suck! And I know because I encountered one years ago. Just wait until your jobs call you to get fired! Many of you probably got those Black Friends, or Black Co-workers, or Black Neighbors you probably talk to, are probably going to Unfriend you on Facebook the next day all because you commented about a incident about roughing up a black man at a freaking Donald Trump Rally. Or a Black student being shoved in a crowd to tell her to “Get out!” I’m glad that thing is being recorded and shared with those they know just to watch out for, and also to avoid when going to vote up this year.

All Lives Matter, huh? Look in the darn mirror and miss me with that mess. The only way that All Lives Should Matter, is under the eyes of God. And in the words of the old school: God don’t like ugly!

Same as last year and the year before: Why can’t folks can’t be real with folks who are real? – church, the jobs, activism in a sense, music, economic status, sex, the single life, etc?

Speaking of drones, why folks had to be all scared about those being filmed? Here is what I know, whenever you walk near a building or in a store, or a well known corner, you will be on camera. And cameras are everywhere. So what’s the fuss?

Will any of the drone users register their drones to the FAA?

And………Will 2016 be that year for you to make it?

Looks like mood of the Packer nation has been night and day. From 6-0 to about 1-4 in total of being 7-4. The last two games should have been winnable against the still below Detroit Lions, whom have now been officially been caged free after being held down at Lambeau for 24 years. And…..REALLY?! The Chicago Bears on the same day of Thanksgiving. The same occasion in which Brett Favre got his jersey number retired. Ok enough of that. And me puking in my toilet. But seriously, what is up with the Pack? No team shouldn’t be 7-4 while going  (possessively) to a potential Super Bowl. Now don’t get me wrong that yes, there have been teams that mostly started out “super” and don’t hardly get at much. Clearly, the Packers are no exception. And for the record, I’m not just a Packer Backer Fan. I’m also an Observer. I see all the good, bad and ugly. Needless to say, they are still my team. No bandwagons. No wannabees. And most def I’m not one of those who live in Wisconsin and be a fan of those who against the pack. No perpetrators in my house!

So from my “Observer” standpoint what needs to be done to mend the damage that the Packers have received? I’ll get to that in a moment.

According to NFL.com’s NFL Now they recently highlighted 3 fixes that the Packers need to have.

  1. Fixing the Passing Attack. I’ll agree that the passing attack is not as sharp. They need to resharpen their attacks with some new tricks to the arsenal. James Jones had NO (And I mean NO) catches against the old school rivals at all. And no, don’t blame the hoodie.
  2. Eliminate the Big Plays. Well to a point not really, but in this case they should make passes underneath. Almost like wildcat/screens like. We already know that Jordy Nelson is not playing. WE KNOW! But you can win games by lessing the big wide plays and just use the cherry picking plays just to get the offense started up. The more they do that, the more they get a chance for YAC’s.
  3. Protect The House. This is a hard thing to do, but you know what, The Lambeau Mystique must be revamped. Not just what it was, but what is should be: A PLACE OF FEAR FOR ALL OPPONENTS! Back in old days, Lambeau Field was a place of Blitzkrieg! And it can be yet again. The Get Loud Lambeau thing, I like it. We need to be loud as hell. But also very intimidating to those who dare to step in and mess up 1265 Lombardi Ave. No more of those soft crap stuff! It’s best to go hard.

Even the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has some ideas or comments:

“In the case of the Green Bay Packers offense, complexity has been something coach Mike McCarthy has been able to build on because of an elite quarterback, a veteran offensive line and lots of experience at wide receiver.

Over on the last five games — even in the 30-13 victory over Minnesota — there have been so many miscommunications, misfires and blown opportunities that the Packers offense almost resembles something completely foreign.

Typically in the NFL, the reaction to such play is “get back to basics.”

Also this from the QB himself: “But yeah, at times you think about being more basic if you’re having mental errors. That’s probably the disappointing thing. You’re late in the season now, and we’re having way too many mental errors.”

“You either got to figure out what you’re doing all the time, or you have to go to more basic stuff. We’d like to not be as basic and have guys not have any mental errors.”

Now here are my things that should fix the Packers:

  1. There have been some news about the team playing Video Games. REALLY! Cut that off! You are not going to win games by playing Madden all day. If those on the squad see all those plays they do on Madden, why not ON THE FIELD with better judgment! Come on guys! VG’s are not active simulators in real life as much!
  2. Davante Adams needs to wake up! Look he’s a good WR. But his open plays have been stunk alot. Davante needs his mojo revamped. Get open and just make plays to score. If not, I hate to say that maybe Jeff Janis might be the next man up for the spot. Who knows that maybe Jeff Janis will be the next man up. Speaking of Jeff Janis, keep him in the backfield returning kicks in case Micah Hyde couldn’t do it all.
  3. DB’s DB’s DB’s Now I see that the DB’s are working, but not enough. The rookie Damarious Randall can’t do it all.
  4. The O-Line needs hardcore Penetration for A-Rod protection. What for you ask? Not letting more sacks on Aaron to pile up like a mountain. Plus also the running game needs to be improved. Now, look stop all this talk about Eddie Lacy being fat and can’t run the ball. He can run. He can play.
  5. Speaking of Aaron: yes I’m putting him in this also. I still like this December 2nd Sagittarian. First: Get the mindsync of Jordy Nelson off the brain. We know. It’s a mindset that is distracting. Second, make judgmental decisions. Matter of fact better judgemental decisions! Now the defense of the other teams are taking notes and scripting what the Packers know. The Packers need to be extra ahead of their opponents in order to generate more wins. That would be like, the Packers taught the NFC North about evil. But not what the Packers know! And it’s starts with the QB. And Aaron needs to be more “RELAXED” than frustrated. And scared. Get it right Aaron. You’re not dead yet!
  6. Playcaling: Oh here we go! We all know that Mike McCarthy is not calling plays this year but Tom Clements is doing the second coaching. The playcallers need more schemes to improve. And this includes Dom Capers!  The playcalling have been well, “predictable”. Mix it up. Or maybe get someone who actually can advise plays of what the players can relate. Need to go back to the ol’ Kevin Green Playbook and get hardcore. Just saying.
  7. D-Line: GET AGGRESSIVE! And plus since some of the players got Beared up in Chicago, it’s time to upcoming likes of Jake Ryan and Jayrone Elliott to finally get more exposure. Yes, I know that the Vets are in the first peg, but still get those dying a chance to play with more ruthless aggression!

Yes they are struggling, but like with any struggling team, they will get better. They have to. No time to think about what should have been, but what it should be. And plus they need to be more back to basic of what they know best to be that competitive. With upgrades! But hey, the Pack is still the team of potential. In the words of the “Pack Daddy”: G’s UP!

So to the 13 time Champs: Get it together! We diehards and real Packer Observers are still with you for the long haul!  No wannabes allowed!

Did you hear or see the mess coming out of the mouth of Jim Rome lately? This dude just called out every band nation member and declared them as being “dorks”. Really, Jim Rome! Coming from a Sports Commentator! I began to think about this statement and quesiton that is he really commentating bands now! Wrong move dude. Obviously, I think guys like him never seen or been in a Marching Band of anykind just to save face overtime. But guess what Band Nation, as a Band Alumnus, I got something to say as much as the rest.

Dear Marching Band Nation, (and Alumni):

It’s me Stephen. Yes, I’m the black blogger out of the Ill-Mil of Milwaukee.

I have a message for all of the Band Nation folks from Band Alums like me: You are NOT DORKS!

Put that in your mind, you are NOT Dorks!

Yeah, I hear the commentary that Jim Rome said on the news as well as his Twitter Account that he, a Sports Commentator, called you the Band Nation per say, “Dorks.” Let’s review the act of poor commentary, shall we:

“Is there anyone not in a marching band who thinks those dorks running around with their instruments are cool?”

DORKS! REALLY!

Oh, and then he made this swift kick of an apology:

Band nation – I hear you. I was out of line. I apologize. I do not condone bullying of any kind and that was not my intent.

Obviously, there are those who just don’t know what’s up in being or expericing in a Marching Band. Back in the 90’s when I was in the Marshall High School Marching Band in Milwaukee, I never forgotten the pride and feeling to respresent my school, and also the community. I remember getting band awards, and plus a Band Letterman’s Jacket. Yes, 21st Century Band Nation folks: I have a Band Letterman’s Jacket and I’m not making this up. Plus also it was the Marshall Eagles MARCHING Band that got my confidence, my new aligned skills, and plus a new sense of heart! I will admit my marching skills kind of sucked in my Freshmen Year, but between Sophomore and Senior Year, I practiced and I got my skills on with the rest of the Eagles at the time. Don’t forget, this was the 1990’s. And I think those of you in the “Band Nation” were even in diapers, or learning to walk many moons years ago. Or many of you weren’t even alive.

Plus also in my “Band Nation” days, many of the “haters” I encountered called us a bunch of squares. They say we sucked. But when Homecoming and Football Season came, we had our respect. The Milwaukee John Marshall Eagles Band had a mantra of this: T.B.D.B.I.M which meant The Best D**n Band In Milwaukee. We were pushed, disciplined, worked hard, and engaged many in our areas of our skills and craft. Which is still instilled in my music skills today on special occasions. Plus we even had Color Guards, Cheerleaders, and my former Principal marching with us!

Now for those of now, in the Band Nation: whenever someone of anyone feels that you being in the band feels you’re a bunch of dorks running around with instruments, just shut them up. Shut them up with your skills, talents, the hard work of your band directors, you commitment, your knowledge and also bring your A Game! Bring it! Oh, yes folks will lash out at you and call you every name in the book. But don’t you ever let that stop you and continue to represent your school or college as if you own it!

Even the UW Band for UW Madison gets hated on, but hey, they still play. I see other bands from Down South, (HBCU Bands) yes they do get down, but I’ll bet they had their haterism planted and still kept marching. And plus even other bands like our Military, Police, and others who march in parades and special occassions probably heard all the hate, but still they kept marching. Just like anything else, there will be haters. And haters will hate with nothing to complain and criticize. So yes haters, Band folks do matter! Even Alums like me also matter for support and knows all the dedication and hard work you guys put in. And not only that, pure heart of excellence.

Yeah, Jim Rome said sorry. But I think it wasn’t good enough for him to understand of the mantra of being committed to and learn from any type of a marching band overall.

Keep marching!
Sincerely,

Stephen

Three way dance here. You know what time it is!

For the kickoff of the year 2015, I’m going to start off with three things that had me bugging since the New Year started. A Facebook Hoax going wild and many of you Facebookers have probably done it. Note to the Kanye West fans: I know who Paul McCartney is. And plus, I’ll dab in on the recent life and legacy of the late great Booyah man himself, Stuart Scott.

First Dance: For all of the folks who had to login on Facebook this morning. Who has typed this?

Today, January 4, 2015 in response to the Facebook guidelines and under articles L.111, 112 and 113 of the code of intellectual property, I declare that my rights are attached to all my personal data, drawings, paintings, photos, texts etc… published on my profile. For commercial use of the foregoing my written consent is required at all times. Those reading this text can copy it and paste it on their Facebook wall. This will allow them to place themselves under the protection of copyright. By this release, I tell Facebook that it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, broadcast, or to take any other action against me on the basis of this profile and/or its contents. The actions mentioned above apply equally to employees, students, agents and/or other staff under the direction of Facebook. The contents of my profile includes private information. The violation of my privacy is punished by the law (UCC 1 1-308 – 308 1 – 103 and the Rome Statute). Facebook is now an open capital entity.

All members are invited to post a notice of this kind, or if you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. If you have not published this statement at least once, you will tacitly allow the use of elements such as your photos as well as the information contained in your profile.

Don’t raise your hands at once. If’ you are one of the many, many Facebook users that copied that and pasted the message to your wall or made a statement about it in some form or some way: you have been tricked.

Led astray.

Bamboozled.

Hookwinked.

Got owned.

Or in this case, you have been served.

That message is nothing more than a mere hoax. Stop that! That was a mere hoax last year, in which many didn’t catch it, but now it’s real clear that mysterious message like chain letter is a trick just to get your goat! Again, stop that! Man, what is up with these dumb letters? Whoever is behind all of this, is just wasting time. Clearly it’s all bull with the fact well, you’re broke, no job, no bill paying, not to mention to lift a hand to support a bill, or any other thing that has nothing to do at all.

Clearly, from the sources of ABC News: “Here’s the thing: Facebook doesn’t own your posts. Under the social network’s privacy policy, they have the right to distribute and share the things a user posts, subject to their privacy and application settings. (Check out Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities here.)”

Look here, when we sign up for Facebook to use on our discretion, whatever we post on there: Pictures, Videos, Quotes, Links, thoughts on the war, or any other thing we share, they are in the right to share that via the privacy posts that we set. You know like those certain beer pictures that you probably have in which might get you fired from your jobs or giving organizations, yeah think about those. We post it. They share it. That simple. So again for those of us who are in this denial that our posts and pages maybe affected, our profiles are fine! To me, posting that message per say is like playing a practical joke just to get all folks riled up over a non-factual statement. So tell your friends that the message this morning is a trick. Don’t believe the hype!

Second Dance: If you are under the age of 30, and you listen to Kanye West, clearly you might be in the crowd somewhere that you might be asking about the legendary Beatle himself, Paul McCartney. No, not Jenny McCartney. You young Kanye Fans out there, have you ever done a thing called GOOGLE? That thing that most of you do most of the time? Yeah, that thing. Now I don’t have to tell you about how to get on google and do a search. I mean you Kanye Fans know how to do this! COME ON! And that thing called Wikipedia, where you can look up people, places, things, ideas, in all? I’m sure you probably done that. Or if Paul McCartney’s group has a website named after the Beatles, um………hello! THEY DO! Just do the websearch of “thebeatles.com” and you can see all of their work ranging from music, videos, hey you can even buy some stuff on their website. And yes, you can find out about who Paul McCartney was and is via his previous work.

Speaking of that: Many of us who are over 35, may remember this song he did with oh, what’s his name…….Listen up or watch the clip and listen good.

http://vimeo.com/37202934

Yes. Michael Jackson. The King of Pop himself in a video called “Say, Say Say”. Plus, Micheal Jackson and Paul McCartney did a collaboration song together called “The Girl Is Mine” on Michael’s Thriller Album. Again this was in the 80’s in which many of you weren’t even born! Who was born in 1983? Better learn folks! Remember the Moonwalker Video in which he did a mini concert on stage and song was called “Come Together?” That song is a Beatles Classic.

Now do we understand this or nah? I’m sure many of you probably heard of Paul McCartney’s son. You know who he is right?

And the last thing on the card: Stuart Scott

For all of my Generation X folks, yes we are shocked! Yesterday as I was getting ready for church, I looked on my Facebook newsfeeds that Stuart Scott died at age 49. We all know him as the sportscaster that changed the game of sportscasting with a flavor of hip hop to it. Oh, and they say that Hip Hop is bad. Really? I too had my sayings of BOOYAH! many times when I made the grades, made the points scored on the Video Games, made any good thing that was so good in terms of making a positive point. Again: BOOYAH!

Stuart was also a member of a prestigious club. The fraternity of Alpha Phi Alpha in which it’s part of the Divine 9 BGLO’s.

Growning up watching him, he repped his game well. I can’t say nothing bad about him. Stuart Scott had a gift. Not just the catchphrases or his suits and ties, or his work and Family. To me, I just like seeing another black man like him doing his work and being appreciated for his value of work was really an accomplishment. He earned it. Which no one, and I mean NO ONE can’t take away from him. Now  I know I’m injecting the black man mantra in this, but with all the mess about black men being labeled as n*ggas and not being in this and that, or not being good when it comes to women, (some black women per say) can any positive story about black men be told? Just saying! When his announcement of his cancer cameback numerous times and as he progressed his work, he never stopped. He kept going to the best of ability. No matter what happened, he wanted to be show others that having cancer may have slowed him up, but it has never stopped him for doing his work! Sometimes there are no excuses.

We all seen the ESPYS Award in which he got honored in July, 2014. Some were probably concerned about him, the way he looked in all. But Stuart himself had to let the folks know, he was not going to let a cancer disease get in his way. He was first diagnosed in 2007. He held on the fight for the last 7 – 8  years. And yesterday, after all of his battles, and fights with cancer, he was gone. 49 years old. Many are saying that it’s too soon. 49 years old is not an age to die from. But most of us heard in church that we don’t know when the good Lord calls us home. If its God’s time, its God’s time. We don’t know if the people that we know well who were around in 2014, may not be around in 2015. We don’t know, y’all! Here in Milwaukee, the city has racked up 2 homicides and some shootings in the start of the New Year. We don’t know! So yes, 2015 like many years before will have ups and downs. Every year, there will be ups and downs. That’s not just sports. It’s life. They say we need to celebrate life, well should we? With him be gone, he doesn’t have to suffer no more. No more of those therapies, or medicine or any other thing that he suffered. NO MORE! That is positive side of his transition.

For many, Stuart Scott to me will be a black legend that changed the game of sportscasting. I want all the future sportscasters to know this. Especially those who are black – we know that Black History Month is next month. And many are about to highlight the careers and achievements of African-Americans or black folks in general alike. Even more. I want all of you, no matter the level of school you are in, put Stuart Scott on your list. And if the folks ask you why Stuart Scott you tell them why! And also when making that presentation or that pictorial subject, be clear of what made you pick him or what inspired you to talk about him. And if you are going into the broadcasting game, just have one word in your office, or on your door that anyone can bring up. Booyah!
