Two things to comment: Hurricane Katrina and Homicides. Listen up.

First thing to come to mind: Hurricane Katrina. We all know what happened with the city of New Orleans exactly 10 years ago this week. Many of us were watching to see, how can a city like New Orleans be flooded like that. We were still at war with Iraq, Bush was still in Office, and I was still in college working on my Bachelor’s Degree. Plus the up and coming Kanye West did the most well known commentary that mostly had gone viral: “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”  And seeing many going to the Superdome to voice their concerns and troubles about the disaster. So yes, we remember it all. Most of us remember the levees being broke. And many still probably blame the government for not keeping up the maintentance, nor the outlook, nor the well being of the levees operated under the guidance of the Corps of Engineers!

Yes, New Orleans has been in this struggle for the last decade. And the last time I was in New Orleans, was in 2001. Way before Katrina hit, and way before the deaths of Aaliyah, and the terrorists attacks on 9/11. My first impression of New Orleans was good. Lively as it is with music everywhere. And even Harrah’s Casino near the hotel. And even hearing a Church sermon on Digging Ditches on a Sunday Morning. No question, being in New Orleans was a good time. Even going by the Superdome where the Packers won Superbowl 31.

I want to say to the residents, and some of my kin folk down in New Orleans that, you have not been forgotten about. We all know what happen, and even the inner struggle of the Black Residents that go through the pain every day that doesn’t get all the coverage like many others in the country! Stay lively, Crescent City! And still, in the words of one of your native folks, “the struggle continues!”

Speaking of that: 103 Homicides in Milwaukee. A second take that I’m going to comment!

103 Homicides in Milwaukee.

Brew City, I don’t know what is up with this. Oh yes I do. The problems lie is with us. Us everyday citizens. Why the HECK we are allowing this to happen? That is unacceptable! 103 homicides. Last time there was this many homicides was in the mid 90’s. Actually, the year 1990 comes to mind. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, I did a research of the homicides of Milwaukee, and it was high. In Milwaukee County alone, the victims total number was reached to 155 according to the report’s Trends. The Percentage of the Homicides was reached to 70%. Again this is just the trends in general in 1990! The majority of the victims were indeed black, and the offenders of those who were victimized were also black as well which increased to 60% towards the end of the year of 1990.

Now you are probably thinking, dang was Milwaukee really like this?!

So when I did the research of the dilemmas that the city faced 25 years ago, to me it resonated of what is happening right now currently. Even with the ideas of creating new jobs or getting new jobs HERE, there will be some young fool here in the city that will try to stir up trouble. All you punk bullies in Milwaukee, and weak gang members, this is what your life is headed if you don’t change NOW! And those of you it’s OK to hit a woman, or to break a man after that man has done so much work, you will so find out that being on a report like this is no joke! Even trying to get a freaking job!!!!! But to matter of subject of homicides, that is major!

So how do we resolve this? Ok course the lawmakers will be accountable. They will.

Of course there needs to be more usefulness of After-School programs in the School Semester. We know.

Community Centers will be on deck everyday. And yes, even the Church. Now many of you are going to calling the church folks sheeples and charlatans, and then say it’s all about the money! Let me ask these questions: what are the nightspots doing to help curb the problems in the city? What are the DJ’s doing besides spinning songs for throwback nights and for that special Rapper coming to the city? (not all but some) What are the local stores that many of YOU go to everyday or month to spend that hard earned money on the new IPhone, or IPad, new Air Jordans, that throwback jersey, smartphone, or just to get that widescreen TV to watch your football games on during the season? HELLO! what those spots doing? Are they sheeples and charlatans too?! And about the cash flow?

HELLO! Let’s be real!

Don’t assume it’s all on the Communiity Centers and Churches. And some schools. And even Funeral Homes.

Some might say, “aww man dude really?! You’ve been in the clubs and the churches! Why are you judging?” I’m not judging, this is called condemning! And plus, I’m proving a point that many don’t realize. Folks need to wake up!

Everyone of us in Milwaukee, needs to be on deck. Hell, I don’t care if you don’t have a job. Or a Master’s degree, or a up and coming minister, or like to go on Periscope to get your hair done for your girls. We need to be on deck when it comes to the act of homicides or neighborhood watch everytime! PERIOD!

I remember this back in John Marshall High School’s band class: “Results Matter. Excuses do not.”

Ponder this, everyone.

Oh, by the way: Milwaukee Public Schools is going to start.

In a recent 21-10 decision, the Wisconsin State Senate has passed a funding bill that will effect the ongoing process to build a new arena in Downtown Milwaukee. Yes, I’m referring to the new Bucks playhouse. Not just for the team, but also for the future concerts, events and maybe a future WWE Pay-Per-View. The Reaction of the news were mixed. Some should say that the owners of the team should have paid for the full tab instead of the tax payers. WAIT A MINUTE: remember how Miller Park got started? Same thing. Taxpayers. Probably the same taxpayers who first complained and partially will like the investment. I think the same thing will happen here.

Now there was a talk of Seattle or Las Vegas in taking the team, (in which NBA Commissoner Adam Silver dismissed it)if Milwaukee had done the deal to fail. BUT this first hurdle of the State, probably sent a signal to those cities that Milwaukee actually got something done. BUT this is a first hurdle. Now if the second, third or a fourth deal is done offically, the start of the construction could start in the fall, between October and November.

So yes, Bucks fans. The deer is staying thus far.

Oh I got a four way stop to say! And trust me this will be one of the hardest four ways that I will write. In this, I’m about to go in on a dumb commentary that Milwaukee County Sheriff gave on Fox News, the pathetic commentary of the Google Search of the N*gga House, the shootings in Waco in a gang motorcycle style, and as usual the random dumb shootings that occurred in the Milwaukee Area. Pump your breaks. Check the Signals. It’s a Four Way Stop!

First Stop: Can Sheriff Clarke please stop? I don’t know anyone in Milwaukee is hearing this, but our beloved second black Sheriff is on the news again. This time he was on a rant about Michelle Obama’s 2015 Commencement Speech at Tuskegee University. In this one minute sample, listen to the “remark” that the Sheriff gave. Start to hit the tripping button.

Black Sheriff Argues for Black People to Forgive America for Slavery and Assimilate, Is He Right?

Are we tripping yet? Are We? We better!

Sheriff David Clarke’s Commentary was just that: dumb. Yes I was challenged to hear the entire viewpoint and yes this is my thought courtesy of my Facebook comments:

“In regarding Michelle Obama with her commencement speech at Tuskegee, he believes she was out of line. Primarily, if David Clarke actually articulated what Michelle was saying in the context of the speech then probably there might be some silver lining of sympathy. Apparently, not very much. Ill just leave it like that.”

So. That is my thought.

Now there are those who like Sheriff Clarke will, or would probably say the exact thing of what was harshly commented out the so-called disdainful words of Michelle Obama. We know that many in the right wing media folks have already pledged their allegiance against the commencement speech. We know the Ann Coulters of the world had to shoot her mouth off and I just know that the fact she probably did. So did Rush Limbaugh, or matter of fact, some goober on Youtube probably had to come up with a video like  “Oh the racists hurting on me!” In a sarcasm way. But the fact of the matter, they do NOT understand and never took the time, persistence, or dedication or just some good understanding of what the racist angles that Michelle Obama went through. NEVER! Also, those same folks who somewhat called out the FLOTUS, probably had a dose of their own medicine. Again: Sheriff Clarke was one of them.

He thought in a congressional hearing that the late Eric Gardner had a heart attack when he perished in New York. DUDE: What kind of ISH was that? REALLY? This dude, Sheriff David Clarke needs to have his head examined. I mean this is the same dude that many in Milwaukee (Black Milwaukee) voted for over the other guy of Chris Moews. Obviously, he was and is I hate to say, is misguided. And no, not  just because he’s the 2nd black Milwaukee County Sheriff. And I’ll say this as a Milwaukee County Resident: I feel embarrassed. He really doesn’t have the fortitude in knowing to credit the real source. I’m just saying!

Second Stop: Ever been to a N*gga House?

Oh there those who haven’t either. Or maybe they have been in a different name. Do this as a favor, when on Google Maps, type in N*gga House (in an non explicit type fashion) and hit the enter key. When you press the Enter key on Google Maps with the N-Word House in it, guess where that takes you? It takes you to a place in D.C. called The White House. Yes, the actual White House where the current President and First Family is residing. And you know what’s even worse on that? I’m reading these bogus comments on how the White House is treated  as some racist angle per say. Let me remind those who are so screwed up about black people: It was black people (both slaves and free) BUILT the White House! They were the first builders, construction workers, and many others whom helped the Peoples House to be built in Chocolate City. So to those who are so misguided, hate to say, you need to re-examined to the fullest!

Really. Google needs to get their butts or brains out of the gutter and ACTUALLY DO work to get their maps stuff under control! It’s not just the N*gga House. It could be N*gga anything that is demeaning, or disgraceful to black folks worldwide and even yes in the United States! And to those black folks who feel its so funny and to poke around, congrats. You just made that list of those on Facebook called “The Cooning Watch!” I want to know is where is all the Black People who work at Google, from the workers to the behind the scenes folks who find this so racist. Where they at?

Third stop: The Waco Shootings.

Oh let me see here. We have a bunch of bikers getting into shootings and they acted like animals. And they got arrested in the crimes they committed on their part. I need to ask, who does biker shootouts in 2015? Seriously?!! There was a time that Milwaukee I believe almost had this at one of the Harley-Davidson’s Anniversaries of the birth of the bikes persay. Yes there was a potential somewhat fight between rival biker gangs of the alleged melee. Now I’ll bet that the bikers whom did the shootings were a bunch of animals? Speaking of that, many have called out blacks killing themselves as a “bunch of animals.” But when you see majority of the bikers whom are white and actually did this with handcuffs in all, do they get the award of being a “bunch of animals as well?”

Well guess what Americans: anyone causing harm to anyone else in a harsh manner IS LIKE AN ANIMAL! And America has had a HISTORY of that didn’t happened back in the 50’s.

Fourth stop: The Same ol’ Milwaukee shootings.
We all know this is a hot button topic. And I made a prediction back in midspring, and I’ll say it here. And I don’t care what is being reported on the news, black radio, black internet radio, a black podcast, or the paper. This summer we’ll read or hear about some young man or lady will be on someone’s target list that will be casket paid! Burials or Cremations. Just to think that when Archie Brown, Jr was killed near 47th and Glendale, someone was screaming’ JESUS! JESUS! JESUS! Not mocking just saying. Most recently, Milwaukee had shootings in certain neighborhoods, schools, parking lots, nearby stores, salons, churches, our workplaces, and now, at FUNERALS and get this: VIGILS! Oh, what we can’t go to vigils to honor’s one’s spirit that was killed? SERIOUSLY? I ask this over and over again, where are the safety nets in our community? Where are those places in which NOBODY can’t get killed or shot up by a bunch of hoodlums that want to mess things up? Now for those who have transplanted out of Milwaukee and have this carefree of not worrying about bullets flying in general, yes I hear you. BUT I think that memory that you keep talking about, will stay WITH YOU no matter what area you move to. Is the safety net in the Suburbs? When you hear about the drug activities in all, the reaction will be different from the city’s BUT the concern is the SAME as everywhere else! Hey, I don’t care if you move to Texas. Or Georgia. Or anywhere else in the United States. Any city or suburb can feel the same concern about someone getting shot or killed as many others. No one ever thought that there could have been shootings in Sandy Hook in which that many I think Milwaukee knows.

But seriously, this summer in which is fast approaching along with the festivals, Summerfest, your Family Reunion, your Class Reunions or any other celebration, even Summer Break, someone is going to get shot and killed THIS SEASON! It’s been like that before and it will not change.I think it’s time that right now, it’s time to gear up programs, activities, gatherings and many others that will try to keep stuff like this at bay.

I’m sure everyone knows about the shootings recently in Milwaukee. We all know about it. The debates, the concerns, the outcries and the lessons learned at times of doing the right thing. Back and forth was constant debate about the use of stay or leave Milwaukee due to the shootings. And the comments about those whom say stop saying it, needs to reexamine that notion again! Technically it does happen almost everywhere in the Continental United States and even in areas in the country that don’t see this at all. Even though some maybe somewhat feel safe in all, be advised that sometimes that can be broken!

I remember asking question straight up: Where are the safety nets?! And no, don’t include #BlackLivesMatter on this. Not just yet.

For the shootings that took the lives of Archie Brown Jr in regarding him doing the right thing, that shouldn’t end like that. It really should not! I had to ponder time after time again, why do folks at times have to be vanquished of bullets, guns, and knives all because they did the one thing that is law of doing the right thing of when it comes to accidents? And the result have to die by the hand of a gun? The dude that did the killing of the brothers and Archie Brown, Ricky Ricardo Chiles, III had a $25,000 tag on his head for a couple of days, and the ending result: turning the gun on himself in a motel room in the Chicagoland Area. The main question of all of this, and I happen to be in the questioning is this: Why didn’t he just surrendered?! Also he was yet to believe that he was the uncle of the two year old, Damani Terry and Rasheed Chiles.

There also yet to believe that Ricky had trouble with the law before and he offered a “light sentence” while serving time in another state. And not be in possession with a firearm afterwards. Why and how Ricky got a firearm in the first place? Makes no sense! Just to wonder that in the state that Ricky was in in having a firearm, there have and are countless others who probably went through the same thing with or without knowing! The knowing part: is just that how many families that knows a family member or any member that has a gun in the house in which that member should not use? This would be a preventative safety question that many should not overlook!

Many in Milwaukee wanted to see Ricky to receive justice for the killing of Archie Brown Jr. However the justice he’s getting, is God’s Justice.

In the coming week, the Brown Family will memorialize the life of their son, brother, relative, and also father. The hard decision for the parents of Archie Brown, Jr will be a very difficult one to bury their son. I said earlier that NO parent should not bury their children. And the same will be for the Chiles family in burying a two year old, and a 15 year old.

When their families get done burying their sons, and after they begin the long healing process of this bereavement, Milwaukee: will we have enough balls to stand up to violence? We got investments coming in with jobs and such and this happens! And this type of act kind of cripples cities besides bad politics.

Our Madison-based lawmakers have this invention of “Shot Spotters” to track shootings from the spots originated. To me, It’s going to take more than shot spotters to combating future incidents. Knowing yes, the community must step up big time EVEN MORE on all fronts! We know AND SHOULD KNOW, whats up.

So technically, when shootings happen, yes folks will know. But I hope that when any incident happens there shouldn’t be that panic button of running for the hills! Of course we know that many might leave due to the violence. But like I said, violence and knuckleheads are EVERYWHERE! Just like the racists, sexists, those who look down on those who just don’t like anyone that looks like them!

And like I always say: The struggle continues!

Even for the spirit of Archie Brown, Jr. – The struggle of doing the right thing: CONTINUES!

Even for the spirit of Chiles brothers whom were killed by their own family, it’s a concern, but the struggle continues for the family, and those that know the family so well!

Breaking news out of Milwaukee this morning: Call it the Three Way Dance – The Milwaukee Streetcar Edition. However, my last dance card will not be pretty.

For many many years and months of concern and hope, the Milwaukee Streetcar Debate reached to a breaking point. In a vote of the Milwaukee Common Council of 10 – 5, the Streetcar still lives. BUT: there is one stipulation that was noted from the Common Council President Michael Murphy.

In the meeting, yes there was positives. Even coming from Alderman Nik Kovac (whom I’ve known since Middle School), has been the positive vocal point of the Streetcar Project. Alderman Terry Witkowski of the South Side was at first undecided previously, but the idea sparked for him to support the Streetcar as well. He also noted that there are some in his district had memo that the Streetcar may not work due to the district he oversees. But overall, Alderman Witkowski did say that the streetcar would benefit all of Milwaukee via downtown. The meeting of the Streetcar lasted for about over an hour with the pros and cons. Even the commentary cons of Alderman Bob Donovan, Joe Davis, Tony Zilenski (who favored the Streetcar but due to the stipulation of the signatures) Joe Dudzik, Jim Bohl, and Robert Puente.

For those who favored: Alderrwoman Coggs, and Aldermen Kovac, Witkowski, Hamilton, Wade, Bauman, Murphy, Perez, and Stamper.

Lastly, the CC President himself did indeed noted his support of the Streetcar. He also noted that the even though the project would be taking a risk, but also noted (and it’s real talk) that in his words: “there is a risk in everything in life.” So technically he was point of taking challenges even they seem to be “controversial” or in this case, daring. However on the other end, for those who feel that they needed to say against the project (even though the thoughts in my view are “Conflicted”) he also fairly said that those with the petitions would be welcomed. So with that, the official (and hopefully THE LAST) vote will be extended until February 10th, 2015. The vote was noted with a 10 – 5 decision. But with the stipulation of the signatures, it stood as of 9-6 overall with 8-7 in favoring the signature requests. So it came close with the backing of the Streetcar by the council, but the final vote was put on pause.

Now since that’s on ice until Black History Month, here is something else to note: Beware of Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing!

Apparently there was a true backing of the Milwaukee Streetcar Dilemma in the eyes of Bob Donovan and others: Americans for Prosperity. A Koch Brothers funding group, who has backers in Milwaukee of all places has been the culprit of these referendums, obstruct and cancel plans that have been planted to stop the Streetcar. For all those who are signing those referendums, I know you have a right to say what’s up, BUT I must warn those pretty much:

Beware of Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing!

Personally what these so-called Americans of Prosperity folks are just doing the work that want to keep stuff held back. That’s all they do. Keeping folks poor in all. And yes they are Koch Funded that helped the likes of Scott Walker per say to get the chair in Madison. Matter of fact that group has been responsible for “cheating” for the last four and half years in terms of getting the High Speed Rail and the KRM defunded and money to be left alone and went out of the state. Oh yeah, they have been “cheating” just to fund their money to deflate anything that does not like them. Oh, I hope the black community in Milwaukee is paying attention, closely! Especially those who like to say, #TEAMSHUTITDOWN on Facebook. And those referendums that your crew on FB probably got circulated via the net, all that came from the Americans For Prosperity.

AGAIN: BEWARE OF WOLVES IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING!

Well since the cat has been let out of the bag in regarding the Streetcar in this sense, The “proponents” per say need to further the cause of the real deal by February 10th. The proponents need to be “reproofers” and to go onto the “Stop The Milwaukee Streetcar” Facebook Page and reproof the folks who are misguided, uninformed, poisoned with thoughts, and just need to get the dose of reality of what is the real truth with this project! The same goes for other Facebook pages, other social media platforms, radio, TV, blog or bloggers, and EVEN the Americans For Prosperity themselves that what they are spreading is just false mess! For 25 years, Milwaukee has been talking about this project over and over again. And the use of future transportation has been thoroughly commented. Sometimes BUSES aren’t the answer at all times. And I mentioned in my previous blog that some employers don’t allow employees to take buses! They don’t! The next time when you look at a job description either online or in print, read it very carefully. If it states on the description that the job does not require applicants or employees to take public transportation, that says it. Again, I’m not saying all jobs have this, only some. I’m making this clear because of my experience back a decade ago. Has there been some changes in the last 10 years? Yes and No.

So in summary, here is the rundown via the Shepherd Express:

    • The final vote on Feb. 10. This will likely pass. When you remove Tony Zielinski’s vote for the project and then to reconsider, it received 9 of 15 votes in support, giving the streetcar more than enough votes for it to pass at the next meeting. Significantly, Common Council President Michael Murphy voted in favor after opposing the project in the past. That carries a lot of weight and says something about how important this project is to the future of the city. (And, no, I don’t think it’s the “second coming.”)
    • Opponents need to come up with 31,000 signatures in the next few weeks. Right-wing radio will be fanning the flames to help out this effort and the petition drive will be well financed. I’m going to assume that Nate Hamilton’s radio ad will continue running as well. One wrinkle for opponents is that they need 31,000 city voters. Suburban residents won’t be able to sign.
    • If the Common Council passes the project and the petition drive is successful, I assume that the city will go ahead full steam to begin launching the actual project so that it’ll be difficult to kill and people will have gotten used to it. (Then again, that didn’t work out so well for the high-speed rail project, which Walker killed even after Doyle was signing contracts right and left to try to lock in that project.)
  • The Joint Review Board needs to give its final approval. I was unfamiliar with this body until this morning, and it seems like a few council members—except for the streetcar opponents—were fuzzy on it, too. According to state statutes, the JRB gives the final approval to any TIF or TID project. (Here’s the state fact sheet on it as well as the city’s fact sheet.) It’s made up of the local taxing authorities as well as one member of the public. Why did the opposing alders mention the JRB this morning? If you look closely, you’ll see that the JRB doesn’t have to be the final word on any TIF or TID project. A majority of the JRB can request that the information the city submits for JRB review be reviewed for errors. And who would do that review? The state Department of Revenue.

So, in my prediction, the Streetcar will roll for approval and the jobs with it. Get the resumes out!

Finally just today, this one of the worst comments coming out of the mouth of Milwaukee Alderman Joe Dudzik. This Alderman, well according to WTMJ 620 AM, he commented that blacks in Milwaukee will be in his words via the Streetcar:

“There’s going to be a couple of assaults, maybe a rape, or a shooting on one of these streetcars,” Dudzik told WTMJ’s Wisconsin’s Afternoon News.  “The [millennials] that claim they’re going to be riding this thing are going to be nowhere to be seen.”

He also claimed that his comments were not racial, but having to review the previous stuff with Northridge and the Grand Avenue Mall.

What did the Mayor say for this?

The Mayor’s office responded to Dudzik’s comments with a statement:  “There have been a lot of irresponsible statements about the Streetcar and this is one of the worst.”

You know what, I’m calling out the B.S. out of the mouth of Alderman Joe Dudzik. His comments about blacks messing the Streetcar with Rape and Violence is very stupid. No it’s BEYOND STUPID! This is just as dumb and immoral as Joe Davis saying the Streetcar is racist. I do have a question though: Has Alderman Joe Dudzik ever been beaten by a black person before he became an Alderman? When was the last time Dudzik was ever defeated and felt soft, snobish, weak minded and racist against those of African-American? Since when, High School?!!! He claims he’s not making it racial, but he is by opening his mouth! If you live in his district, PUT HIM IN CHECK! Was he ever aware that the MCTS had rapings, fights, shootings on the buses?! Has he?! He, like Joe Davis better wake the “F” UP! Plus also he was wrong about the Northridge Mall closing up due to blacks. According to one of my favorite black Milwaukee radio stations, and I’m glad the “The Forum” brought this up, due to the fact that real reason why Northridge is really closed was due to a rumor that a black man way back when caused a violent shenanigan against a white patron previously. Go ask Jesse Anderson, a white dude in JAIL! Who also killed his wife many moons ago. That’s the real main reason why Northridge Mall is closed up now! Put that in the archives all because he killed his wife and blame it on a so-called black guy!  If Alderman Joe Dudzik is up for re-election, he better not get reelected! He need to be fired and recalled for his commentary and yet to apologize to every single African-American he offended with his comments! He might lose alot of “Black Friends.” Just a warning! How does he know what might happen when violence on a Streetcar would occur? As I mentioned from my previous blog, the MCTS had shootings, stabbings, fights and etc. Carjackings. Has any Taxis in Milwaukee had been shot up before? I definitely want to know.

Put a petition together to get him fired!

And plus, to those who are on the “Stop the Milwaukee Streetcar” Facebook Page or any other Anti-Milwaukee Streetcar Social Media site: do you condone this?! Put down your burgers, fries, sodas, beers, coffees, pizzas, and other eats/drinks and put this fool of an Alderman in serious check! Now you know why Milwaukee is a segregated city? This is not just about the Milwaukee Streetcar idea. Again, this is where “Race in Milwaukee” needs to be talked about and clarified and put on the table. Now for those who say “I have alot of black friends”, to  “I’m not a racist, or that repeating feeling of “I don’t care if you’re purple, red, green, and etc……We’re all the same.” REALLY?! I call B.S. on that also! And don’t even bust out with the MLK speech with the favorite of not about color but about character. Half of you probably believed that notion also have broken that belief with your actions, and your so-called lessons that you obviously proposed or learned! Just admit it! And I don’t care if it’s 2015!

I’ll bet these are the same folks who fear having their boots shaken when going into Milwaukee for a spot visit, work, or just to relive the “good ole’ days” per say, they are the same folks who have this fear of getting shot, assaulted or raped in the city. Well I got news for them: where you are, I might get caught dead for being strange in the nice neighborhoods. Or being called that scary N*gger and getting arrested for some alleged B.S. that went down. Or being accused of any other thing that they feared since something was taught being afraid and racist of black folks! I’m putting this out there to be real!

Like Dr. King once said: “Where do we go from here?” Ponder that hard.

And other than that: check out the statistics thus far from Urban Milwaukee in regarding the Yay’s and Nay’s of the Streetcar.

Mark it down. January 21st will be D-Day for the Milwaukee Common Council in which they will vote Yea or Nay in regarding the Milwaukee Streetcar Project. Yes, it’s still a hot potato in which many might rock it or drop it. I think those who rock it, in a sense could lead to additional opportunities to jobs in which the city has been preaching forever! And those who like to “drop it” in terms of it being racist, a thing of waste, and also as I put it in my last blog, “Conflicted Viewpoints” among those who are angry and  protesting in disgust. However, my viewpoint is for one thing, and one thing only: Employment Opportunities to the next level. Not just about the routes, times, or highly concerned options. The main focus IS JOBS! PERIOD! So for that, I present this blog letter to the council.

And if those who are apart of the Milwaukee Common Council that uses WordPress, share this before voting!

Dear Milwaukee Common Council:

It’s me Stephen. Obviously, I’m a black blogger in the city by hobby.

It’s seems that you have a big decision to make in terms of the Milwaukee Streetcar Project. But before you make your decision of cost, structure, construction, and many other factors of human emotion and misguided dialogue: hear me on this of why it should matter to the additional construction ideas in Milwaukee. I often blog about Milwaukee being as a “tail-end”city. What I mean by that is, it’s always behind. And most recently, it’s also stuck in the word of “Can’t”. Twice as most of you are aware, we came so close with the previous projects that would have linked our City with Madison with High Speed Rail and not to forget another one: The KRM Commuter rail that would have linked Kenosha, Racine and Milwaukee to get to those unreachable places for those looking for work. Of course! We also have problems with the violence, with potholes, housing, and many other factors that needs attention. Even yes, addressing the ongoing saga of the death of Dontre Hamilton, in which his brother Nate used a platform on WNOV to speak out against the Milwaukee Streetcar in relation to get justice. And additionally with the saga of the Republican-like organizations of Citizens for Responsible Government and this recent United For Milwaukee forged by Alderman Davis and Donovan. These I think are factors of examples of just trying to keep Milwaukee held back.

I’m sure you’ve heard and/or stood on the platform of all this.

But now, here is my only reason of the project: Four letters here – J-O-B-S! I like many others have been saying and commenting and blogging about the need of jobs in the City. I’m coming at this from a general standpoint. We need more “improved and never seen before can do jobs” in Milwaukee! I feel that it’s high time that this city needs to start playing more poker of new things that seemed daring to compete. I’m not just talking about against other cities, but we really need to step our game up for the future. Recently, the Mayor said that he’s betting on the future. And I hope all 15 of you are betting on the future as well. Yes, we still live in a segregated climate where mostly of my ethnicity of African-Americans are somewhat considered a suspect to death! Yes, we have other factors that might believe that Milwaukee is a wrong choice for jobs when it comes to skills, experience, residence (especially for those who are black job seekers) and many other factors combined. And I’m sure many of you, recently viewed the news out of California in their debut of the Bullet Train for their state. They stuck with their idea (along with Wisconsin’s part of the HSR money) built it, and it’s fully operational to get from Point A to Point B. They dared, they built it, and it’s arrived.

For all 15 of you and this Streetcar thing, yes I know many of you don’t like the idea. And there are those who favor the plan that it should move forward. And there are those who are undecided. I believe it should move forward to get something started. You see, I’m a job seeker for better employment, with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from UW-Stout, and I think this project with my college background skills should favor and interest me. I studied Occupational Safety/Loss Control, Strategic Management, Engineering Economy, Project Management, Statistics, Product Inventory and Control, just to name a few. And I feel it should be an investment not just the talk of wasteful government spending as the detractors put it. And definitely not controversial.

Clearly, I feel this should be a new investment to get this city going. And if  it’s not the investment of whatever, then Common Council: what is YOUR plan for the absence of the project? I don’t want to hear the same plans that have been burned out for the last 15 – 20+ years! I want to see NEW PLANS, NEW IDEAS, NO CONTROVERSIAL OVERALL EMPLOYMENT CAREER PLANS for this City! And unlike Alderman Joe Davis, it should NOT be racist or immoral but should effect those who are citizens of color looking for work.

And I hope that it should sink in for this vote next week after or maybe on the King Holiday.

So this is where I stand: I support the idea of the Milwaukee Streetcar for a new improved, fresh out of the box employment plans for the future. This is my reason and my reason only. There are other reasons, but I choose this reason to get things started. It doesn’t matter if it’s downtown or midtown, or uptown, this city as medium as is, needs something to think about. And do! This is my opinion and statement.

Sincerely,

Stephen

Preface: As we all know, the year of the horse, (aka the year of 2014) will be in the barn and rest for the archives. More like out the pasture. But before the ball drops on New Year’s Eve and making a box empty for 2015, I have once again decided to bring out the good, bad, ugly and the scratching my head thing for this year that has gone down. 2014 had a lot galloping like a Horse so many times around the track, but like every other year, it had it’s ups and downs. So with that being said in all, this is the list of 2014 that I think stood out. Call it the traditional Stephen’s Spot Annual Blog Review.

It didn’t got positive coverage, but there was an activity called the “9th and Ring Thing” in Milwaukee.

Melvin Gordon was a force in the title for the Heisman Trophy. Even though he didn’t win, but he’ll be winning straps in the NFL.

Wisconsin Badgers Football were decent this year with Joel Stave/Tanner McEvoy doing the QB mix, Corey Clement running the game with Melvin, Vince Beigel, and the Defense getting their trenches on. Plus: Winning the Freedom Trophy, Heartland Trophy, and STILL Own Paul Bunyan’s Axe. Sorry Golden Gophers! And for those of Rutgers and Maryland fan bases: Welcome to the Big 10.

During the preliminary debates for the Governor’s chair, Mary Burke went on Black Milwaukee Radio more than once. Walker however had surrogates, but made no representation.

The Wisconsin Badgers owned the West! Both in Big 10 West Football and the West NCAA Basketball Championship. Plus the view of Frank Kaminisky. #OnWisconsin!

The Bad:

Racism struck again in 2014.

ISIS.

Columbus Short got fired from Scandal. Really, dude?

Jetliners disappearing. First the Malaysia flights and now AirAsia Airlines.

2014 was a high year of one of the worst stories to write and comment: Killing unarmed black men, while white police officers who did the job go free, EVEN after chokes being recorded on video.

Unarmed black women were targets also.

School Shootings in America that were in places that was not mentioned alot did occur.

If you got Sprint, you probably had a bad year.

Target and Home Depot got hacked.

2 NYPD officers were shot and killed while on duty.

VH1 debuted Sorority Sisters and got the NPHC Divine 9 folks upset.

When the new SNL cast member Leslie Jones made her debut, especially with her skit of the “slave joke”, folks (especially black folks) hated that, but Leslie fired back via Twitter.

In Berkeley, Missouri: another shooting of an officer kills an unarmed black teen.

And the bad side of things in Wisconsin:

Milwaukee didn’t get Pabst back in town. No PBR’s, dang!

Former Wisconsin Badgers Coach Gary Andersen takes the Head Coaching job at Oregon State.

Polarized politics deepens worse in the state.

Racism and segregation still lingered.

If those who didn’t vote up in Wisconsin, stop complaining!

Unemployment maybe down in Wisconsin, but still up in the Black Milwaukee Area.

Talgo officially moved out of Milwaukee due to the politics of not having High Speed Rail. Not good if you were banking on better jobs for the state!

American TV, Nostalgia 1 and 2 Clubs – Rest in peace.

Former Milwaukee MPS Superintendent Gregory Thornton leaves the job for Baltimore’s School Superintendent job.

Plus, African World Festival was cancelled again.

Dustin Diamond, (aka Screech) gets arrested in the Ozaukee, Wisconsin area for stabbing. Really?!

2014 was a Midterm Election Year, and yes Scott Walker, Sheriff David Clarke and many in the republican side stayed base. Plus also nationwide, this midterm election was the lowest in the last 42 years. Sad!

Plagiarism: the only word that many felt Mary Burke lost.

The Milwaukee Bucks made one controversial move: fired Coach Larry Drew and in exchange for Jason Kidd.

In addition to the shootings: 3 young people under the age of 10 shot to death on a playground, in a house and on a relative’s porch! All in Milwaukee.

Puff Daddy – I Want The Love

Michael Jackson – Xscape with Love Never Felt So Good.

Charles Walker Band – Soul Deep was a good single, plus they are from the Mil!

The Ugly:

Really, James Woods? He blames Rev. Al Sharpton for the NYPD deaths. Please!

Hold up North Korea and Russia: You all put Obama on blast calling him a monkey and or flashing graphics of him with bananas in all. Seriously, racism is crossing international waters.

And those chairs though that was shown internationally on the MLK holiday. Those chairs that looked lifelike came out of Russia. Don’t tell me you forgot about that!

An Elk Lodge at an LAPD Retirement Party had Gary Fishell to rewrite the words of  “Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown” to get on the bad side of Michael Brown. STUPID! This was a young black male died at the hands of the Police. Where is the conduct, LAPD?

Those MLK Holiday Ads that had his likeness in a negative fashion. Even twerking. You young Graphic Designers are too dumb to do this!

The Secret Service and the security of the White House. Come on y’all!

Fox News and the right wing media needs to shut up about Loretta Lynch and her affiliation with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Bill Cosby: I haven’t posted any commentary about Bill and the stuff has been going on. But I’ll do it here. I think this whole thing about him being a rapist is just flat out ugly. Already he had lost connections to NBC, his Alumni Board of Temple University, his honorary distinction of being a Honorary Petty Officer of the U.S. Navy, and many others that has a public connection with Cosby over the years. Even various women from Janice Dickerson (seriously?!!!) to Beverly Johnson, and even former Cosby Show cast mate Lisa Bonet all coming out of the wood work blasting Bill Cosby of these past incidents (alleged) that these women claimed he molested or raped. I applaud his wife Camille and his youngest baby girl Evin for standing up for him in his darkest hour. I hope and pray, that Bill Cosby does not go out like Joe Paterno. Remember when Joe Paterno and Jerry Sandusky had all those past relations in secret in molesting college boys at Penn State and it stayed secret for so long? Paterno died. Sandusky is in jail. This is just something I just thought about. But knowing most so-called Americans they’ll believe anything anyway.

The Polar Vortex this past winter was no joke, and yes Rush Limbaugh fans, it was real. In the words of Al Roker: Stuff it!

Speaking of that: why do certain white right wing folks had to comment about Idris Elba in saying that he can’t play James Bond because he’s black? And what it up with the hate against a “Black Annie?”

Next time:  Facebook group leaders or Admins has to warn folks about being deleted or removed, can that be in advance instead of without warning? (ie All About Sagittarius, The Fire: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius)

I love my Facebook Sagittarius folks in all with the sexual beings stuff, but the sexual stuff can be toned down a bit you know! Really on Facebook! Some folks must be bored, not working, ain’t paying bills,  etc.

While on the subject of Facebook, those of us who got our videos removed due to their copyright notices, this is ugly as crazy. Write complaint letters please.

Ugly things that the Badger Residents faced:

91: The amount of homicides that Milwaukee had in 2014.

Sheriff David Clarke: For all those in Wisconsin, mainly in Milwaukee County, and even in the black community,  I must ask this question. Are you really happy with him right now? I ask this because he recently went on Fox News talking some smack about the ongoing Ferguson incident with the death of Michael Brown, President Obama and many other that the Republican party does not like overall. Keep in mind, this is a Black Democrat, appealing to the Republican Base. He even accused the President of widening the Racial Divide in the country. Oh stop it! If anyone is accused of racially dividing the country: it’s the bigots, the racists, the closet sellout negropeans, the mindless folks who doesn’t know squat. They are dividing the country. The same folks who “wanted their country back” per say. Those folks are the blame. NOT the President! So for all of you voters in Milwaukee that thought Clarke was cool per say, are you really satisfied with the vote you got? I say this to the supporters, activists, DJ’s in all. Think about it. And oh, he also blamed Al Sharpton for the Ferguson uproar and Eric Holder too. Go figure.

There might be rules for us Badger folks who are unemployment: start getting your urine samples ready!

I know this is ugly to swallow, but Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn told the BLUNT truth about the killings in Milwaukee in which the targets mostly are African-American.

The case of the stolen Stradivarius caper in Milwaukee.

Has anyone been to a job fair and saw a fight? I did. And it was ugly at Milwaukee’s Potowanomi Hotel and Casino.

Speaking of the home city, and the guns: We had a cease fire weekend back in the spring, and more shots rang out. From 1 year olds, to 5 year olds, to preteens teens, and to grown folks. No fun!

Milwaukee Sanitation workers were robbed at gun point. No Kidding!

Speaking of ugly: As much as I like the Wisconsin Badgers Football Team, but that lost against of all teams Ohio State University was just that. UGLY! Getting beat 59-0.

Scratching my head this whole time:

Have the Negropeans ever got it yet of they shouldn’t being ashamed to be black? – Reference with all respect: Raven-Symone.

When employers have said about “we can’t find anyone.” In relation to new applicants on the map. Have they actually looked hard enough? Or they are just being lazy?

Can Dish Network EVER get TVOne?

Record players are making a comeback and how will today’s folks will tell their kids to “STOP MESSING WITH MY RECORDS?!!!” ( Hey Millennials, that’s old school talk!!!)

Should there be a rule when folks who were homegrown born in all, made good money elsewhere, and then when trying to comeback to their homecity with promotions or events (nothing wrong with that), SHOULD THEY NOT get an attitude of making folks to come out? I don’t care if you’re a Milwaukee born person, went to the south and made good money and comeback home to force folks to come out and support a cause not worth knowing. There are folks HERE in Milwaukee that are on the grind everyday that are trying to be the best possible to help out. Now you know why it is? Watch yourselves, promoters!

Note to the “fair weather folks” in all: Many leave cold places due to weather and complain. But doesn’t that equate those hating the hot places go to cold places?

With all due respect to T.I. and Pharrell: they are good promoters with their art. BUT………..Why are they having a hard time in dealing with the reality of race?

Ebola was in the news. Who was SERIOUSLY well prepared?

Gotta be kidding me: KKK wanted the black folks to join up?!

Has Jameis Winston learned his lesson from all that altercation mess at Florida State?

So North Korea blames Obama for all the hacking and Internet shutdowns twice. And they throw shade of him with racism?!!!

Boston: with all due respect on the real, some of your sports folks acted racist this year. Why was that again with a black Canadian Hockey Player?

What was the so-called hype about Iggy Azalea being the greatest female rapper of all time this year? She hasn’t prove nothing to me yet!

From Immigration Reform, to the new deal with the US/Cuba: did the Obama Crew played the cards well despite of the haterism?

Are those in the Mary Jane States (yes you know who you are) having a ball with legalization with Marijuana?

Is Richard Sherman still that thug that many thought after the outburst he did against Michael Crabtree? Or what?

I know some Packer fans had to ask about Olivia Munn. Wait a second, who is Olivia Munn?!!!!

When MTV had the VMA’s on, did they actually KNEW who Robin Williams was?!

Was that Michael Jackson hologram really that creepy of “Slave to the Rhythm?”

Will Selma be a hit in 2015?

With all the “crimes” in the cities, what’s up with the drug problems in the suburbs?!!!

Should Roland Martin do more shows of a Bill Maher, a Dr. Phil, and others who don’t hardly get African-Americans like him on their shows?

MASSIVE SOCIAL MEDIA CALLOUT: Can we PLEASE use the “You’re” word on Facebook correctly as well as other forms of Social Media? Like for example, “You’re It!” Not “Your it”. Or “If you don’t follow me on so and so, you’re not welcome here no more. Not “If you don’t follow me on so and so your not welcome here no more.” We need to respell and check our words, folks!

Really Sony? You didn’t like black actors like Denzel Washington? And you got hacked by the hacking nerds?!!

Can Facebook users please be polite and to kindly ask not to be so rude when game requests happen? (No need to be all dramatic and serious.)

Speaking of Facebook again: why do certain folks had to tell other folks to “stop getting smart” after a posting? Had that happen to me.

Was the phrase #ByeFelicia a new term saying you got kicked to the curb?

When William and Kate visited the U.S. (which was nice of them to visit) was it worth it with all the killings with the unarmed black folks being gunned down?

How will us Americans alike be with President Obama in his “4th Quarter” in 2015?

Is D’Angelo’s new joint a reminder of the 90’s? Besides Lady, Voodoo, Brown Sugar?

Speaking of President Obama again: when the issue of race comes up and many of us black folks feels that it’s killing us. So I ask: What do we want him to say?!!!!!

Are the protests of unarmed black men and unarmed black women being killed are getting attention in the cities nationwide, as well as worldwide? #HandsUpDontShoot #BlackLivesMatter #ICantBreathe

When the MTV VMA’s happened after Beyonce got the last award before the show closed out, (probably winning the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award) and when Jay Z said she was the greatest living entertainer per say, has he forgotten about Patti LaBelle, Janet Jackson, and other black female artists that were and are blowing up before Beyonce?! I’m just saying.

So LeBron James goes home to Cleveland. Are you Cavalier fans happy?

Callout: Who did the Ice Bucket Challenge? Admit it. And who really donated to the ALS after finding out what it really is?

Did everyone had a chance to view the videos of Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and the late Richard Pryor about being stopped by the Police and the beatings? (Hint, that was dug up this year after Michael Brown and Eric Garner died by the police)

Can the U.S. Mens Hockey team EVER get a black hockey player to help win the gold medal?

SHOUTOUT CALLOUT: For all my Sagittarius folks: was this year of the horse played the cards well, since part of our zodiac is a Centaur?

When folks had to dig up about certain challenges, or activities, and they tie that into slavery or bad incidents in black culture, WHERE ON EARTH IS THE MAIN SOURCE?!!

About that Fire Challenge: WHY?!!!!!!!!!

Who won the Gospel Challenge on Facebook?

Was Michael Sam really misunderstood as a player, or his gay lifestyle?

For those of us who go to Walmart in Milwaukee, what is up with the bootlegging folks? (All I hear: We got CD’s and Movies!)  Nobody has no time buying something that has your digital camcorder or computer virus on it!

Going back to November, actually the first Saturday in November, when many were watching SNL, did those who watched ACTUALLY wanted to see Prince or Chris Rock?

Can we African-Americans ever have a massive Mid-Term/Local Voter Turnout like the Presidential ones?

Why was Ald. Joe Davis of Milwaukee had to comment that The Milwaukee Streetcar had to be immoral, or in this case, racist? Plus comparing it to the Dontre Hamilton death? Really I had to shake and scratch my head on that one.

Was The Interview really THAT controversial?!!!!!

When folks comment about “being apart of the human race”, have they realized that it was black folks that started the human race, per say?

Is Annie a hit for the younger folks and young at heart?

Why are some folks are saying that Gov. Scott Walker is the “face of Wisconsin?” Knowingly his “state of the state speech” this year made no references about Milwaukee? And having NO Minorities on stage with him when making that speech?

Do I need to go up to UW-Stout and address the student body about real effects of Racism? Especially what happened on campus involving a Menomonie man making racial stuff against a 19-year-old black student?

Has those who accused President Obama of everything like unarmed black folks getting killed had realized that he is not at fault?

Can we grown folks let Sasha and Malia be teens for once?

So the FLOTUS spoke in Kansas this year. What was that fuss again?

Oh, is the State of Wisconsin really serious about bringing the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to Kenosha?

Booty is in! -Wait a minute, booty has always been in. Why is J-Lo and Iggy Azalea making it well known again, knowingly its been around since the first civilization of black people?

We all know that #AllLivesMatter, and #PoliceLivesMatter but why folks got to be against #BlackLivesMatter in a sense of being twisted and racist, which is not?

Was Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda song really worse like “Looking A** N*gga?”

Is the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls still available to chant? Even after some of the girls were rescued?

Callout: When Milwaukee had no African World Festival this year, an Organization stepped in and put up a “Freedom Weekend” Event for three days back in August. Not a problem with that. But here is my question: Why would the owners or promoters trying to make those in Milwaukee to come out based on the comments and negative thoughts on Facebook in a negative fashion? Especially trying to make those to come to a press conference on a Friday Afternoon? Folks are at work!!!!! I’m sorry I didn’t go to the event.

Speaking of snakes: What is up with those who want to be eaten alive by an Anaconda?!!! Those snakes don’t play!

THIS JUST IN: Governor Walker just commented about the protests in Milwaukee. And to think he just called them the “HOOD PEOPLE.” SERIOUSLY?!!!! And this dude along with Sheriff Clarke’s idea of bringing in the National Guard if things got worse.

In Florida: An attraction called Machine Gun America is open. Really?!!!

Why was #MyBrothersKeeper was very concerned among black women who didn’t have a say so?

Flu Shots were in effect again. But why were they not effective enough knowing the preaching of getting one?

The theme of “breaking the Internet” was rated with Kim Kardashian showing off that you know what cover. But…….was it really that necessary?

Callout: Democrats, can you please get your git together and not lose your seats in a Midterm?!!!

That Aaliyah movie though. Why was it trainwrecked?

When a 26 year old black Milwaukee man raped a girl at 10 years old (which was recent and true), why do some had to bust out the mantra of #BlackLivesMatter on this? From both black folks and white folks via social media?

CALLOUT: Are Streetcars REALLY a so-called boondoggle, or scam just to segregate folks like High Speed Rail? Or is it just talk of starting mess of not getting things done or trying something new?

Why were and are certain folks had to “redline” job seeking folks because of their address on their resumes?

Will body cameras be an assist to the Police when crimes happen?

Has the attention of Dontre Hamilton reached the attention of everyone yet in Milwaukee, in America, and our International folks?

ATTENTION NPHC MEMBERS: With all due respect to the colors and letters you wear with your goals and objectives, can you please also get in the action of these protests of the unarmed black men and women who got gunned down? And Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity: word is that you had a hazing incident. Can you get your guys straight on that notion to clean it up?!!!!

Callout: Some folks had to bust out with the “Breathe Easy. Don’t break the law” slogan shirts like Milwaukee County Supervisor Deanna Alexander. Um, really?!!!!!  Or should I say to comment: Was that really stupid of a public official to state her liberties or her inappropriate commentary on Twitter about a black man’s death?!!!! And she had to use the #AllLivesMatter #PoliceLivesMatter thing.

Can the Consumer Drones, or Parrot Drones, or Radio Shack drones, or DJI Drones be good money makers for jobs?

Will The TSU Social Universe be a new force for Social Media? In terms of paying the user of postings, etc?

Same as last year: Why can’t folks can’t be real with folks who are real? – church, the jobs, economic status, sex, etc?

Speaking of drones, why folks had to be all scared about those being filmed? Here is what I know, whenever you walk near a building or in a store, you will be on camera. And cameras are everywhere. So what’s the fuss?

And………Will 2015 be the G.O.A.T. (not just the animal)?

New feature this year: My own highlights of the year.

For this portion, 2014 was not too shabby this year for me. Outside of me blogging and fronting,  and in addition to my community stuff, I was featured for a Hallelujah Moment for the Wisconsin Conference UMC for my church’s Love Is Part Two event in Milwaukee. In relation to the highlights in talking about domestic violence. It was a real eye opener event that both Women and Men must continue to talk about, even with the church! And also, on November 8th of this year, I was one of the local community folks in Milwaukee that was recognized by the Northwest Side Community Development Center as a 2014 Unsung Hero Award recipient. Yes, I am an UnSung Hero for my work with Photography and among other ties along with my ability in the Milwaukee area. So shout out to all of my Unsung Heroes in Milwaukee, as well as a shout out for all of the folks who do work and don’t hardly get recognized for any work that is hidden or not mentioned! Plus also my current Pastor and Church First Lady had about 14 years of their ministry that was presented. They were honored on December 7th in Milwaukee for their work and on a high note, their last day is December 31st, 2014.

For those who have read this blog like over 10,000 times with Tumblr – Thank you!

For those who have read this blog for support and shoutout for music and radio, – Thank you for reading. And as a token of appreciation, I have made a Stephen’s Spot Photography on Facebook, so feel free to check it out. Who knows, maybe in the near future I might do some photo spots perhaps?

As far as my Alumni Stuff: This is for the Marshall Eagles. Back in August, my Alumni 90’s folks was supposed to have an Eagles picnic to reconnect with those near and far no matter what year. Unfortunately, that was cancelled due to some dumb stupid rumors about gangs, drugs, amount of people and etc at Cooper Park. Note to the committee of Cooper Park, that was not forgotten! Your park is everyone’s park and it does not partake to you and you only! But on the good side, us Eagles partied anyway before Thanksgiving and had a ball downtown Milwaukee. Shoutout to Karma Bar and Grill for having us to meet up and party!

And as far as the UW-Stout Alumni is concerned: It’s been a while, but since the Alumni Board has a new regime with a new director of the Alumni leading the pack, (plus a new Management director and Chancellor) they have been to Milwaukee this year. And HOPEFULLY improvements will be in order for the next. I’m still interested in seeing more of the Blue Devil Alumni! #stoutpride

One of my church members, Thurman Patton passed this year at age 96. He was a member of my church for numerous years, and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. His funeral back in July, at Milwaukee’s St. Mark’s AME Church was celebrated as he was the last twin brother to be memorialized. The final moments of his funeral was the Committal, in which the members of the United States Army Folded the flag into the triangle to be given to the family. Plus out of no where: a 21 gun salute was included with Taps. Also one of the men, who fired the guns came in and gave the bullets to the family as part of the service. This was a first time that I witnessed a Committal service in person for the final salute of the late Thurman Patton. I salute him for his service as well as those who have passed on of serving this country.

In closing: 2014 was one of those years that we walked through pain, fire and brimstone like the years past. But there were along the way, there were positives, and great stuff that happened. I ask again: Will 2015 be really, the GOAT? Start making room the records for future throwbacks!

It’s been ready. Much ready. But here it is. Another tour of me looking at empty buildings around Black Milwaukee. And no, I’m not advocating Dollar Trees in Bronzeville. Why, more on that later. But as usual, I highlighted more buildings around the areas in which have been empty or unused for years. So, here we go:

Along North Avenue towards uptown, there are these empty buildings that probably used as shops previously. However, I wouldn’t be suprised if the North Avenue or Lisbon Avenue residents turn one of these buildings into mini-shops or matter of fact, turn one of these units into Community Centers, or a mini version of offices that can help the residents to find jobs. Or just to add, the Milwaukee Police Department, District 3 is in this area could use this as a mini station to extend their police work or their community advocacy nearby. Or matter of fact, make it a tutoring center for children.

Nearby Appleton and Hampton Avenue in Milwaukee, this builidng has been unused. It used to be I think, a restarant per say. And the look on the building was likely closed due to fire. I would assume that the busineses around in the area would use the building for meaningful organizations. Now instead of a restaurant, convert it to a dining hall for a church. Or turn it into a tax office like a HR Block or a private business that can help those publically. Or since a  WE Engeries Powerstation  is near by, I think WE Energies should convert that building to a neighborhood office for customers to come in and pay their bills, or check this, at one time, Milwaukee used to have a building called the “Energy House”. Convert that into a new Energy House since a Power-station is nearby.

Now I know what you’re thinking. This is a school. What should go here? Now your first comment might be a school. Which is a thought. This used to be the Garfield Avenue School, which was part of the Milwaukee Public Schools System. Plus also this building, was established since the late 1800’s. This was one of the oldest Elementary Schools in the city. But since the building has been closed for a couple of years, this has been a new idea that this should be given a new opportunity in the Bronzeville District to convert it into a African American Community Center. It’s perfect. Right in Bronzeville. Even though it’s a former school building, but it has a gym, auditorium, lunch room, etc. And the classrooms I think should be training rooms for voting, health concerns, jobs, and many others. The library should be converted as usual. Put a internet cafe in there. Just saying. And also, north of the building is the old Black Holocaust Museum that Dr.  James Cameron founded years ago. But it was closed in 2008 because of lack of funding. It also was closed when the Fonzie statue was unveiled with the reunion cast of Happy Days. Reference WNOV. I think the two buildings should be one in terms of one big African American Community Center. The Holocaust Museum should be resurrected as a Museum as it once before, along with the school building next door. Just think about, black Milwaukee!

Now this building, by the looks of it, used to be Oriental Related. I’ve seen businesses like this in the Black Community. But since this is in the Bronzeville District, I think this building could be an add on for the Black Holocaust Museum and the old Garfield School Building. Turn it into a mini-country club, meaningful mind you! Or make it a Cafe for the Milwaukee Urban League, which is west of the building. If the African American Community Center is made with the old Garfield School, and if the Holocaust Museum comes back regularly, have those two building, plus this building pictured, make it a “Milwaukee Bronzeville Complex”, or a “Milwaukee African American Bronzeville Complex”. All I’m saying is make it a complex that can be cultural and meaningful! Not just for a grand opening and grand closing!

In this also, I want to comment about this Dollar Tree idea in Bronzeville. Now word on the street, the area where the Dollar Tree is, was that supposed to be a homegrown grocery store? The plan was to have a MLK Supercenter which was supposed to be built on the corner of North Avenue and MLK Drive. That’s near the Wisconsin DNR Building, a Subway, a Playmakers sportswear store, and a building that is unoccupied.

Recently there was a community meeting about the proposed Dollar Tree that was not pleasing. If the city residents want a homegrown store, that is HOMEGROWN, then why not have that? Frankly, a Dollar Tree in Milwaukee’s Bronzeville to me, sounds tacky. I mean really? I mean I’ve seen Dollar Trees in strip malls around Milwaukee. Not hating on that. But come on CITY OF MILWAUKEE! Give the folks what they want!

Now for those of outside of Milwaukee, yes at one time, the original Bronzeville was once a section of Milwaukee that was catered to African-Americans in related to business and residence. For more info about the history, check out this link

Plus also, for those who are unaware, there is a petition going out online. Feel free to view it.

Like many Americans, we want a better job. A better career. Yours truly is part of that pact in which that the current job is not going well for pay sense or not enough days in, but it has to change for the better. Why I am bringing this up? I feel it’s time for me to come out and to tell my recent experiences and also some issues I feel that companies should be doing.

First in regarding my recent experience: I have a secret to bear. I am looking for new work. Better work to go and rekindle and sharpen my skills and be more productive in this “new monster” of a workforce. The keywords are “New and Monster”. On several occasions, I have applied for positions with the US Government, the city of Milwaukee and also had a run in with a local hospital in Milwaukee in which my resume was disrespected in a “sensitive feely” sense. First, I have been applying for the jobs via the USAJOBS website for their availability and the results came back in which the jobs aren’t available in which the sequester is in session. Then came a local job fair at WCTC.  Oh let me tell you, it started out a pleasant experience in Pewaukee until I got to the Froedert Hospital table. My experience was not pleasant in a discouraging sense. All because of my resume that was splattered. But the representative, whom I will call “Gail S” delivered that in a sense of fear and also having the notion about the competition of companies that are buying stock for new employment. And recently, I applied for the City of Milwaukee for a job called Management Trainee. I had all the right credentials except one thing: My Bachelor’s Degree was not within the 2 year rule. Meaning you have to graduate in the past 2 years given in order to get the job and examination. I filed an appeal with the city in which I felt that those who have more years after their degree should be able to apply as well. On May 28th, I met with the City Board Services and the review was discussed and yes I did say what I had to say. In the end, the board said no to my appeal.

I have ask and if you are a CEO, or a President, or a street version of a business leader. I am really stumped about your job postings. And it’s complicated. And I hate to hold some accountability. Personally, you have alot of folks who have Bachelor’s, Masters, Doctorates and all that are HUNGRY FOR OPPORTUNITY. For many years we’ve heard about your speeches, and words about going to school and get a good job statements over and over again. Now partially, I do believe that behind the message does stand still, BUT I find it to be B.S. I’m going there. There are of us who graduated in the past with a load of debt to payback in the next decade or so, have to struggle with dead-end jobs or jobs that we don’t want but still to make ends meet. I am now one of those people. Yeah, I know some who might come into defense might say, “at least you have a job!” But not to enough to pay rent, food, utilities, car insurance, your siblings’ bills, student loans, or better yet, trying to pay back your mother or father from all of the borrowing you did previously. I expressed that same notion to my Pastor back in January. And I also explained that my previous car bill for repairs was around $2,000.00. And I asked him, “how am I supposed to pay back my mother the $2,000.00 for the car repairs?” HOW?!!!! And here’s another secret. My current salary that I’m bringing home is $160.00 every two weeks, and my annually salary is around 4,000.00 per year, by working 2 days a week. Many of you know that I work as a poll worker for the City of Milwaukee and in which I am being paid for an split shift of 8 hours. And usually I get an extra 60.00 for the day. BUT that is not enough in order to pay for the bills. Even though I enjoy going to the public as a Poll Worker.  Also it’s extra money for gas or miscellaneous stuff. And this is coming from working as a Secretary for a church.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong of being a Church Secretary. But if the salary is not coming in enough, where is the change? Either the company has to do something or me, the employee has to do something. And that something is a resort of various choices: either look for another job, enroll in a job training program that is community wide, or go back to school. Or any or all the above. Plus, while that’s happening, the resumes must be polished up and having more standouts at career fairs and programs alike.

Call out for the employers: PLEASE don’t put all your feelings of Sensitivity in terms of those looking for a job. Job Seekers like myself don’t have all the time to hear about your sad stories about how resumes should be, and the employers need to be very clear about what they want in terms of a position. And long time ago, there was a time that recent graduates could apply for jobs along with those who have their degree within 2 years or less. That needs to come back. Especially in this technological era of the 21st Century. Give us a chance! I mean America is supposed to be the land of opportunity, right? Where’s the opportunity?

Second, the culture has to change. Just like the USA Basketball team. If those of my age has to go to Internship way after college, then so be it. If those my age have to go to programs to get certified like Big Step,  or making a hard decision of accepting serving in the Armed Forces between 36 -40, then so be it. By the way, WRTP/Big Step is a program organization here in Milwaukee that most go for work related training in order to get those family related jobs that pays well. And they’re Union Shop related. In regarding my experience with the job fair, I had to put this out on Facebook via my wall:

Doing the office work and also just got back  from a job fair. Yes there were jobs available. But I also believe that the employers (not all but some) shouldn’t have put their feelings or discouragement to those via Resumes in terms of those looking for work. Or trying to move up for a career change. Let’s just say I had that today, and yes I did learn from it. And like a Sagittarius, I’ll bounce back. I ain’t dead yet! – Another of my I’m just saying moment.

I hope that this blog does get those RSS feeds in. I want it to happen. So because if any employer could use this for a suggestive ideas to get more employers to apply. Now when I went to the Public Hearing in Milwaukee, my intent was not to complain or start a scene. I was respectful. And I thanked the city for allowing me to come and say what I needed to say. And even though it wasn’t enough for me to get the decision I wanted, at least for a citizenship side, I made my statement. Was it foolish for me to go to the hearing? Absolutely not. I felt as a citizen of Milwaukee to this. And it’s my right. And yes it wasn’t enough to win the appeal.

But however: that is not going to stop me for applying for work! Oh no. We all going to learn today!

So employers: YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION! Some of your displays are not working. It’s time to change not for some, but for all!

As for me: In the words of the late Richard Pryor: I ain’t dead yet, (censored words)!

I haven’t commented this story out of Milwaukee, but I have been following it as usual. This is in regards to the recent events of the Milwaukee Fire/Police Commission in regarding the now former Milwaukee Police Officer, Richard Schoen. For those who don’t know, he’s the Milwaukee Police Officer who was in the hot seat in beating a black woman in a squad car. The woman, Jeanine Tracy was arrested in September 2011 after an incident near a traffic stop. But the story escalates in a graphic manner. This incident is also comes off the heels of the Derek Williams case which was extremely horrifying. I’ll bet every one of you in and outside of Milwaukee had to see the video in disgust!

Further in the video, Jeneane was complaining that her legs were in pain, and the officer came in to grab her out of the squad car, while punching her to take her into custody.

Let me say that last part again: the officer came in to grab her out of the squad car, while punching her to take into custody. – Just a warning, this video is graphic.

And to add, the officer was previously reinstated while incident was examined.

That has mostly has been the story in Milwaukee thus far. As usual also there were protests. Mainly coming after Police Chief Ed Flynn and of course Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett. Those who were against the protests were coming from the comments of Alderman Bob Donovan, who previously was against Mayor Barrett’s plans for the Milwaukee Streetcar, blasted the protesters as a “mob”. Really Bob Donovan? A Mob?!!!!

I want to say to those who are thinking becoming police officers, sheriff deputies, federal marshals,  or any other profession in life to have for family, yourself, and community.

Just because you wear the badge does not make you God Almighty!

Just because you wear the badge, does not make you better than me! You’re just human like average citizens!

I’m going there. I’ve seen this too long, and to those who are against of what I just said, maybe you need to examine that from another angle and ask yourself what’s the point? Just like those who go onto the Journal Sentinel comment sections and just blasting their liberties without understanding the gist of it. Especially this one commenter who calls himself “Milwaukee expatriate”  He, she or it comments and says: “Out of towner. Just read about this and watched the video. She is a piece of human excrement. He should have hit her harder.” EXCUSE ME?! This commenter needs to be banned! How would this person feel if his wife, daughter, aunt, Grandmother, or any other female counterpart would have been beaten like that? Explain that! I bet that person can’t even explain that notion. And by the way those like this commenter needs to be called out.

I’m not calling police officers bad folks. I have some in my family who serve and protect well. However, what I don’t respect is those who have the badge and abuse it with power. That is no excuse. For the first time in 100 years, the Milwaukee Fire/Police Commission made a choice to terminate Officer Richard Schoen by stripping him of his job in his hainus act of abuse of power. That’s all it was. When you abuse your power of anything, it will suffer the consequence of your actions. Yeah, just like these preachers who abuse young boys, and they’re saying that there aren’t enough young men in church’s now? Uh-huh, I went there.

But getting back to Bob Donovan. Dude has a problem. He kept referring to the protesters who were at the City Meetings as a “mob”. Well you know what, there was a problem he dealt with around in the 1990’s. Refer to the link below:

http://bloggingblue.com/2012/03/19/lets-discuss-bob-donovans-1992-citation-for-disorderly-conduct/

Prepare to trip on this: Matter of fact for those who are “Grown and Mature” you may want to take the youngsters out of the room, or those that are younger, do not click this link! What are you about to see is a citation from 1992 in which the then-36-year-old Bob Donovan was frequently at UWM or we locals call it: University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. The situation was in the University’s Mitchell Hall in which Donovan was behind the walls either watching the men “doing their business” per say or wanting to have intercourse. Yes you read that right. Keep in mind this was 1992 and I was in freaking high school then. Donovan was arrested for disorderly conduct. So you can say he was “jerking out” in the words of Morris Day. And this is the same now Alderman that wants to get tough on crime. Well he better recognize his own demons by not calling those who were exercising their First Amendment rights of free speech. Those who were protesting the Fire and Police Commission weren’t “jerking out” like Bob Donovan was. They, like any other citizen were holding the officials accountable. Is that being “Citizen Enough?” Just saying. Hopefully now after the incident of Jeanine Tracy, she is glad that the officer who beaten her is no longer wearing the badge. But this should mark a lesson that no officer in any city, should not act like God, nor abuse their power! Period!
