Folks: I haven’t been on the blogs as of much. A primary reason because of a extreme matter that took place. My father recently passed on at 69 years old in Milwaukee, and like many in my family, we are saddened and shocked by his death. How did I felt really? This my statement via my Facebook page from February 24th, 2017:

I have breaking news to share. And I don’t know if I have the bravery to say this but I’ll manage. Folks, I am shocked and numb now to say that my Father, whom I’m named after,  is now passed. Us in the family are taking this hard that this has occurred. Literally I know that when I hear folks passing away yes I feel this sympathy to be close. I also have this option to say to those that yes is to learn the lessons to move forward. Now it’s time for myself and my sister, to learn the lessons that my father taught us. For those of you that lost Fathers, I will listen to you. I will learn what you went through in order for me, my sister and most definitely my mother will take to move forward. My father was the last of his McClinton family bunch to pass on. And knowing my family will feel it knowing he’s in a better place.  One thing for I know, Dad didn’t play. He was a straight shooter all the way and knowing yes was fair. There been many times that for financial reasons whether my sister or I had little money on hand or no money on hand:  he was there. For moral support, he was there. He was there for my church (the same church that he was a member since 1969), things to fix around the house all the time. He was known to have a Corvette for alot of years, even a Honda V45 Manga Motorcycle, a Ford Truck, and a Cadillac Escalade. He also was known for his art talent of old school portraits, woodworking, at one time, playing a guitar, and of course gadgets and CPU’s  – in which I got him interested. But mostly: he was known for being a Veteran of the Armed Forces. Served in the US Army between 1966-1968 before the tet offensive in Vietnam. Married to my mother since 1969 and again raised me and older sister. Plus he was an Alumni of the Milwaukee Public Schools. He went to Lee Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School, and a true Blue Devil out of North Division High School “when it was real”, as he stated. And the jobs: Allis Chalmers, Pfister and Vogel Tannery, VA Medical Center and mostly the US Postal Service for his work for 27 years of service.
Yes I am sad, shocked and numb right now. And the pinch ain’t good. I will do my best to make sure that his memory as he stated last year: Leaving a mark. In which he did. My father Empowered (and I mean EMPOWERED) me to be the best of I do. Same with my sister. No question.  I’ll be in and out of Social Media as this long process of setting up my Dad’s Service of life. That is all. Send condolences to my family at this time if you wish.
Thank you.
At this time, I’ll be on a short hiatus with the planning of my Father’s funeral. Meanwhile, we ask for prayers and support in the hour of bereavement.

You may have seen this on Facebook. Or any other outlet. Many of us who have posted this stat are taking real stands of what we see in our U.S. Government. And the center of it is number 45. No, I’m not going to use the name, but we know who he is. But however as far as all that “Making America Great Again” in all: NOPE. Time to rally against the thought that many who supported “45” and having his attitude against immigrants, blacks, Mexicans, and many other things that are not like him is just is. Yes, it’s like a call to activism.

WAKE UP!

This is where I stand. To me, FB (or this blog post) is a useful vehicle for connecting with old friends and keeping up with family, but it is also a place for my passion and activism. I believe and respect all opinions, even if they don’t agree with mine, so we can all use FB (or this blog post)to vent.

I believe that our 45th President, his power hungry cronies, and the majority of Republicans in Congress are a real and active threat to me, my way of life, and all the people I love. Some people are saying that we should give Trump a chance, that we should “work together” with him because he won the election and he is “everyone’s president.”

This is my response:

•I will not forget how badly he and so many others treated former President Barack Obama for 8 years…

•I will not “work together” to privatize Medicare, cut Social Security and Medicaid.

•I will not “work together” to build a wall.

•I will not “work together” to persecute Muslims.

•I will not “work together” to shut out refugees from other countries.

•I will not “work together” to lower taxes on the 1% and increase taxes on the middle class and poor.

•I will not “work together” to help Trump use the Presidency to line his pockets and those of his family and cronies.

•I will not “work together” to weaken and demolish environmental protection.

•I will not “work together” to sell American lands, especially National Parks, to companies which then despoil those lands.

•I will not “work together” to enable the killing of whole species of animals just because they are predators, or inconvenient for a few, or because some people want to get their thrills killing them.

•I will not “work together” to remove civil rights from anyone.

•I will not “work together” to alienate countries that have been our allies for as long as I have been alive.

•I will not “work together” to slash funding for education.

•I will not “work together” to take basic assistance from people who are at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder.

•I will not “work together” to get rid of common sense regulations on guns.

•I will not “work together” to eliminate the minimum wage.

•I will not “work together” to support so-called “Right To Work” laws, or undermine, weaken or destroy Unions in any way.

•I will not “work together” to suppress scientific research, be it on climate change, fracking, or any other issue where a majority of scientists agree that Trump and his supporters are wrong on the facts.

•I will not “work together” to criminalize abortion or restrict health care for women.

•I will not “work together” to increase the number of nations that have nuclear weapons.

•I will not “work together” to put even more “big money” into politics.

•I will not “work together” to violate the Geneva Convention.

•I will not “work together” to give the Ku Klux Klan, the Nazi Party and white supremacists a seat at the table, or to normalize their hatred.

•I will not “work together” to deny health care to people who need it.

•I will not “work together” to deny medical coverage to people on the basis of a “pre-existing condition.”

•I will not “work together” to increase voter suppression.

•I will not “work together” to normalize tyranny.

I will not “work together” to eliminate or reduce ethical oversite at any level of government.

•I will not “work together” with anyone who is, or admires, tyrants and dictators.

•I will not support anyone that thinks its OK to put a pipeline to transport oil on Sacred Ground for Native Americans. And, it would run under the Missouri River, which provides drinking water for millions of people. An accident waiting to happen.

This is my line, and I am drawing it.

•I will stand for honesty, love, respect for all living beings, and for the beating heart that is the center of Life itself.

•I will use my voice and my hands, to reach out to the uninformed, and to anyone who will LISTEN:

That “winning”, “being great again”, “rich” or even “beautiful” is nothing… When others are sacrificed to glorify its existence.

If you agree feel free to copy and re-post (this results in larger numbers of people seeing a post), and if you want, sign your name below ours. Also, if we have left anything out, feel free to add it to this list.

Signed:

Me. And anyone else that wants in to really save the honor of this Country the right way.

SSP The Struggle Continues

Man, tell me this is not happening. Seriously this is not happening. I thought I was dreaming about another black man got killed but this is no dream. It’s was real. Another black male, Philando Castile out of Minnesota was gunned down in a traffic stop while in the car with his fiancée and daughter. And he was only 32 years old, worked with kids, no criminal record and, a Teamster member and tell me folks, why did he had to die? All because of a traffic stop. And trying to get his ID. All recorded on Facebook Live. Just a day or two ago, Alston Sterling out of Baton Rouge was gunned down and his death after the Fourth of July really sparked a wide reaction of horror that this man of 37 years old father is not coming back. Some say he had a gun. And if anyone had the chance to look at the hellish video of him being gunned down, I’ll bet you or others whom are African-American, were just as disgusted and horrified as everyone whom was feeling.

Today on Social Media, mostly on Facebook, it was a wave of sadness, anger, some wanted to know when are we going to start shooting back.No kidding. No matter what you call it, it was all the same thing. Most of us were black. And the feeling of this was a repeated broken record that was on played over and over again. Even I had to dive in on this being as this day of being horrified. In my commentary, this is what I written this morning about these killings:

Just my own commentary here: I like everyone else is really horrified about the recent events that took place in Louisiana (which I visited in 2001) and also in Minnesota(which I have visited in ’95) with the shootings. Both Alton Sterling and Philando Castile should not have died like that at all. PERIOD! This whole thing I’ll agree is a sickening effect that continues to plague us even today. In the 90’s, when most of us were teens in high school, the phrase “endangered species” came up concerning young black males. Now, in this era of Smartphones and stuff, that phrase came back like a boomerang. Straight up. I know many had gone in on the 4th, in terms of being targeted after celebrating the Independence (flags, decorating the Red White and Blue in all). Guess what: (and I’m surprised that others haven’t commented this) other holidays, occasions, birthdays, the first day of school, the last day of school, the midterm break from college, a block party event, anniversaries, reunions, even personal days can be celebrated, but also can have problems like this! It doesn’t matter if it’s New Years, Christmas, Labor Day, Halloween, Black Friday, and even after observing Juneteenth Day. I’m just saying! Every year, I say the words: The Struggle Continues after the 4th, and even after my December 5th Birthday. And in between. So yes, indeed the struggle continues. Even after two black men whom were doing their thing before their untimely deaths shouldn’t have been vanquished at all.

Again: The Struggle Continues!

Yes. That is my written take on these shootings. As I said in my last blog about this, and this again is for those who still have this disdain about the Fourth of July or Fourth of YOU LIE things: You do realize, and I don’t care if you are in Black Radio, you do realize that folks can be killed in any part of the calendar year, right? Why the Fourth of July? Many had to hard on that. What many don’t realize that anytime you might get this, bullets have no eyes, no holidays, no race, and definitely no anything. The deaths of these two black men whom passed on this week after the 4th, after the 240th Anniversary in all, is a constant reminder that our work is not done! Our work AGAIN is not DONE! America as 240 years young it is, must continue to accept the past of wrong doings to be a better nation with all Ameicans alike. Even the ones we don’t like. However with this act of violence, and the act of these Black Fathers are not here, again, we got to work harder on this. And if their names made the list of no convictions, I will NOT be suprised. This will be another example of the Struggle is continuing on now. There are 5 months left in the year of 2016. Next couple of months will be hard for these familes as they go through that phase of daddy is not coming home. The empty chair or space will be hard to look at though holidays, birthdays, and also not watching their kids growing up. I feel for the kids, that will have to experience of not growing up without a father. Already one of a well known actress Issa Rae according the wires, has raised money for Alton Sterlings’ kids in terms of scholarship money. And just to think that Issa is an Introvert.

Also on Facebook: A local cop of 2o years had to comment on today’s occurance that went so viral and this was a DEEP DEEP MESSAGE:

What you just heard is Officer Nakia Jones. An officer of 20 YEARS SINCE 1996 that had gone hell, fire and brimstone and was VERY passionate about this message. If you know those officers that had a open partnership that are doing the righth things and are very serious and are supportive of the officers that do have this mentality, this to me is one of those officers in America that is doing the job thus far. Yes we do get concerned about BAD Cops, and racist cops. But one of my relatives whom is a Milwaukee Officer said that not all cops are bad and not all black men are bad! This to me realize that there is some good in everything. As we should. There are good employees, bad employees and employees that are just there. However, there are employees that will listen and take up the class of responsibility to ENSURE that trust does STAYS OPEN!

Officer Jones wanted to quit like she indicated, but she stayed. And I hope and pray that Officers like her and men like her will continue to stay on the force for the right reasons and to ensure a clear path of understanding and openess in the communities.Hopefully this might open a new dialouge that we the community can call out the concerns that we need to do at all times!

This is so crazy. And yes this happened in the week of the 4th of July. And many of us on the African-American Tip have this mixed bag about the 4th. This morning as I was listening to WNOV, which I still do. There was a talk about the flag. In referecing in which about getting black folks to wear the flag. There was statement on the format (The Fourm) of giving a reason why blacks should wear the Stars and Stripes. Well here’s my reason and I think I could probably give a reason for this. Again if you are a WNOV Listener and black, and have a opinion on this, which I respect. I’ll give you my reason why I feel that rocking the stars and stripes is partially not a bad thing.

One of the real reasons why I wear the “Stars and Stripes” or to display the Stars and Stripes, is not just to show off. Its not to gracefully forcefuly to shut up the haters or to sell out. One of the real reasons why I do it, because its in the heart. Its in the heart of interest that I think would be comfortable. What do I mean by that, you ask? Maybe it’s my personality, maybe it’s my way of showing my own patriotism. Maybe it’s my way of showing active in community service. One of the community service that I do is an Election Inspector. And it’s a job that I volunteer for that has given me 10 years to serve. Another reason is probably my way of expression. Another could be my way of being active. Another reason that I continue to serve needs. It has nothing to do with being weak. Maybe that’s the reasons why I still probably have it on me since. Maybe I’m “not as American” as I think like everyone else. I don’t know. But I know that even though I’ve been a US Citizen for all of my years of life, I also can give the country a bit of a “Come to Jesus meeting” when certain things of America goes sour! This includes Racism. This includes Gun Violence. This includes Police Brutality. This includes Job Discrimination. This includes Sexism. This also includes Black Lives Matter! Even my choice on how to finish my college degrees in a format of my choice. This also includes that if I see a child or teen act up, I’m going to tell them NO! If I tell a non-profit job developer about the use of attacking me, like I did with the Milwaukee Urban League in 2005, I will call out the hypocritical mindet period! No matter who is in charge or works there. I’ve done it!  If anyone on Social Media questions my judgement or questions why I got this or that in a opinionated thought, I’ll question them back in asking why you want to know. If they want to get defensive, I’ll get defensive. That is like dealing with a bully. Or an instagater that’s always in your business.

Black folks who want a reason(s) for blacks like me to displays or wear a flag, did I give you my reason?

Let’s dont assume that with me per se rocking the stars and stripes is a worst thing in the world. I’ve seen worst than me that will make the question of “What are you celebrating?”look like a Co-Ed  Gym class on a worst day! Look here: If I want to display my way of the Red, White and Blue as well as the Red Black and Green basically it’s my right. I mean do we have this thing about Freedom of Expression? Come on!

There are bigger fish to fry that worring about a black male or black female wearing anything like Red White and Blue or the stars and stripes. And worrying about blacks celebrating the 4th. And just to remind the Conscious Crowd, even showing some revoultionary radical thought of conscioness can also be like showing a customized patriotism act of defiance. Even also addressing BLACK LIVES MATTER! And EVEN as I write right now, about 12:22AM CST in Milwaukee, Officers whom lost their lives in Civic Duty in Dallas, Texas.

This probably might not set well with those of my demonination. But this will get an attention: The demonination of the United Methodist Church. Right now in Portland Oregon, there is the General Conference taking place and in this conference, like many will see monthly will talk about the decisions made to see where the direction of the UMC might go in terms of variety of topics, concerns, groups, or many other aspects. The actual defininton is as follows courtesy of the United Methodist Church:

The highest legislative body in The United Methodist Church. The voting membership consists of an equal number of clergy and lay delegates elected by the annual conferences. General Conference convenes every quadrennium (four years) to determine the denomination’s future direction. It is the only body that can speak officially for the denomination.

This we know mostly.

But this is not what I’m talking about.

The main concern of all of this, is what happened in the pause of the moment concerning this demonstration:

Yes, what you are looking at is a protest and demonstration of the actions of Black Lives Matter. Yes, the movement has now reached the door of the United Methodist Church. And I have to say, with all what’s going on with use of some of black UMC churches with some elements of the LGBTQI folks in the mix of concern, this is another conversation that the church MUST ADDRESS! We need to wake up!

Now there are those either in The United Methodist Church and outside of the Church are on the side of “Oh look the UMC Members got those BLM Gangsters in there conference. Very hypocritical. ALL LIVES MATTER!”

REALLY?!

I need to tell you so-called “All Lives Matter” vocal fans that when you mention that in a sense, don’t you dare EVER say or think that notion. Obviously, you really don’t know what ALL LIVES MATTER means yourselves. You probably might bust out all the “I got Black Friends” speeches, and again spar up the ol’ MLK Speeches about color and charcter. I’m going to bust heads open: Clearly many of you saying this or implying this and it doesn’t matter if you are UMC or not, you are part of the problem! Yeah I said it! And for far too long, black folks’ voices and concerns have been NOT heard, or spoken to address the situations of what is really taking place! Racism, Sexism, targeting those whom are innocent and Black, effects of Slavery,  the new Jim Crow, and those whom are refusing service due to being black. Think about it! And it happens in 2016. And a long time.

And don’t bust the comments of “black on black crime”please. It’s not here for it. Not once here also, there weren’t any commentaries of “white on white” crime. Which does happen by the way!

Here in Wisconsin for example, there are “alleged angles” that Black Churches in UMC were and are under attack  about subjects or concerns that were hitting the fan! Even also if the chrurch’s pastors who have served A LONG TIME, got the boot to make way for those whom are younger and appeal to the current era of worshipers. And sometimes it might take a black D.S. to do the dirty work. Even taking out mininsters who have all the credentials and acculades, and black and sometimes disabled are being shut down to be lay leaders. There are only a few BLACK United Methodist Churches in Milwaukee know about this too well similarly. One black pastor was ousted forcefully on inappropiate purpose due to the fact the church previously served, was in declining numbers per say and is now out of the UMC doing his own church. Other ministers probaly felt the shifts and left. And on a side note, I have a connection to these churches because again, I grew up United Methodist and one of the UMC Churches I go to has been in business since 1949 in Milwaukee. And at times, I hate to say that there was many times that the Wisconsin Conference (with all due respect on the nice things accomplished) has NOT had the back of these Black UMC’s! I believe it’s time from the TOP ON DOWN that the Bishops and many other districts NEED TO HEAR the concerns about the Black United Methodist Churches that is ongoing and hidden to talk at the table. And not to be left out of the talk period. The last bishop, whom was black, LISTENED to us Wisconsin UMC black folks of our concerns. Period.

And I say this unapologetically, as a 4th Generation Member of the UMC.

This mix of Black Lives Matter and the General Conference of the UMC appears to the haters like oil and water. But when those say “All Lives Matter” is nothing more than a mere smoke screen with White Supremacy. That’s right I said it! On the pic, there was a sign that read All #BlackLivesMatter, and below: it listed the items: Bisexual, transgender, poor, heterosexual, lesbian, gay, disabled, women, men, young, and children. Well, I have to say again, this might not sit well with the rest of the denominaton, but the talk of the concerns in our Black UMC Churches and Black UMC things  MUST BE ADDRESSED MORE! Just like the others.

I know we got the BMCR. And for many many years the BMCR has addressed the black concerns in and outside of the church. But I think NOW the BMCR and the high authority of the UMC must address the issues of Black Lives Matter as well as any other Black concerns that the high leadership of the UMC MUST LISTEN!

We are all suppose to eat, sleep, breathe, drink, pray, worship, spread the good news, and fellowship as God’s Children, right? We know we do. But many of us need to be reminded of that. And even though that many do follow that notion, some of us I hate to say need the “Come to Jesus meeting”. Even if you say “All Lives Matter!” in a sarcastic, anti-conscious and threating manner. But you know the All Lives Matter, MATTERS to God. Just my opinion.

For those that lead the fight or this new fight in the UMC, I say as a black man that is a member of the UMC, out of Wisconsin, 4th generation in all: that is what the fleek I’m talking about! My childhood Pastor said in a sermon, “Speak truth to power, and power must listen!”  Don’t hold back nothing but the butt naked truth! Let them know!

Mad respect to those who lead that protest. Mad respect to the Black Pastors and Associates that did this! I’m assuming that the spark from that Black Lives Matter demonsration will be the new fire that many United Methodist Churches of Color must pass along!

Enough with the sitting quietly and listen. But even silence, will spark also new voices to commence.

Like the pastor said at the end of the protest, “this is our church as much as it is their church.”

As it should be.

Can they get an Amen?

Read more about the protest here via the Reconciling Ministries Network and the United Methodist Church News.

The time has come: Class of 2016 you are about to go to that next world that many of you have been dreaming of. And yes, for some of you, many of you will be making that mark so badly. I know this. But guess what, before you or some of you will walk across that stage: Just know that many or some will or will not have your back. But also, as newly fresh grads as you are, it’s time to claim “your Sweet 16” in a way that is known: your opportunity. So here is for the newly grad class of 2016: your blog letter.

Dear Class of 2016:

It’s me Stephen. You know, that black blogger guy from a city like Milwaukee.

Congrats to you! Many of you have finally made to the final level about to be graduates and soon to be, Alumni Members of the schools that you have to give back to.

I’m assuming that many of you will be getting your plans together . The same ol’ “after college” plan that will be asking you even after you get your degree. You know what they are. However it is something that is going to be asked of you every day just to keep in mind. Just a sidenote to you High School Grads making the next level: you’re in this too! No matter if your next level involves College or the Armed Forces.

But yes, it’s your time to be recognized. It’s your time to be appreciated of the four, sometimes 5, or 6 years of work that you put into. No matter if it was High School, College or University, you made your stamp on history! And no one can never take that away from you. NOBODY! Defend your degrees. And also, there will be folks will might say, “So you think you’re so fresh or better than me just because you got a degree from some school!” Just a word of warning. But don’t let some goober with a half-pint brain never tell you any different. Many of you had to go through hell, fire, and brimstone just to get to the commencement. Some of you, who had to drop out years ago, for some other reasons, probably made the journey back to finish and get your degree! Some of you whom had served in the military, came back or entered college to finish the goal that was previously started. Many of you who are 1st gen, 2nd gen, or 3rd gen who are from various backgrounds of historical accomplishments in family education, are adding something new to the trophy case. And some of you, (kind of myself) are graduating just to prove a point to belong or actually proving some goobers wrong with all the negativity that was swirled around with bad unethical thoughts who are now just eating crow. That happened to me 10 years ago this month graduating from UW-Stout. Graduating in the area of Industrial Management and used Distance Education to do it. Don’t front old school trads! And by the way, 2006 still rocks! I should also point out, that you might inspire someone from the audience that watched you walk with your class to go and work on their future degrees to get. I’ve seen it happen and it worked.

But in all seriousness, you have your power. Just use it. Not just for you, for those who got you to the dance. Just like President Obama said at Howard University, the very same Howard that Diddy said his address, he spoke about: “be confident in your blackness”. Since Howard is a HBCU, why not he spoke to that notion. And of course the Obama haters via Fox News had to say something dumb. But yes, the President was on point when  he said be bold in your blackness. I know that yes, the College has other folks walking the Yard, but in that speech, I knew whom he was talking to. Sort of like what Jamie Foxx said on the BET Awards years ago when he said “This is for all the Black People! ” Not racist! Understand that.

Now I need direct my attention to the jack off idiots whom are “Soft Administrators” and idiots who feel that high school seniors who got Valedictorian status and many other status that many will not obtain.

CALLOUT: Louisiana: I’m calling your non gotee facial rules what it is. Flat out BS!

CALLOUT: And to the school district who wouldn’t allow a senior to walk across the stage with her class all because she said some poem with the N word printed. You have jumped the gun, but obviously failed to realize that this could be a warning that she might go through once leaving the school. Matter of fact this happened to a white kid at my High School 10 years ago, but the dude almost didn’t graduate because the truth he wrote on MySpace about the crime and concerns of Milwaukee. Um hello! The date was 06-06-06. No kidding. And were still taking about it 10 years later with the crimes taking place now.

*Just a sidenote, that senior who almost got yanked for not walking with her class, has now graduated.

And the last thing, why would any school administrators would take away a black dudes chance of graduating, and having on a Kente Cloth?! As in representing the black culture?! Really?!

Man, some of our school administrators in the schools are so soft! I’m sorry. As a Alum I feel disgusted by which these silly rules are being enforced by the schools to not allow our Black children to participate in the event they worked hard for. And I also blame these scared racist voters whom feel afraid or anguish against black folks trying to make to grad day. And I’ll bet those same folks whom are stuck on stupid with not making it themselves. Watch your back, 2016 grads! Keep making the haters mad by doing your thing. Sooner or later they will realize that your success will turn heads and crack skulls! Trust me! And watch overtime how they disappear. Knowing the thought, some might even be kissing your butt for a spot on the job line. And I know many of you are VOTERS! If you didn’t like to be yanked from your Graduation spot because of facial hair, a poem that reflected the truth, or having a Kente Cloth on your graduation gown, THEN YOU MUST VOTE to change the game! Let your Administrators, or Council Members, or Mayors, or School Superintendents know that this matter does not sit well and yes you have a right to complain. These person(s) work for you, and you have a right to hold them accountable of what they do. If they don’t work for you, as in progress, VOTE THEM OUT! Or matter of fact, you can challenge their seats to compete for their jobs!  And if you’re not yet a voter, it’s time to become one.

Well Class of 2016, you’re Alums now. And every single year, I come on here to tell you that your old High Schools and Colleges/Universities need your help in support the future causes. I urge all of you (even though most of you are younger than me) to join your school’s Alumni Associations. Donate to your alma mater by donating some of your time and effort to support this life long cause. I know many of you are getting some of those Grad Dollars of checks or cash from your mama and them. I mentioned this 2 years ago, why not donate some of your grad cash to your alma maters to support a lab, library materials, or new gym lockers, new computers, or donate to the arts that need new instruments, or just donate some cash to help a new cause to your old school like mixers or metro area alumni groups, or future Alumni Chapters. Even start a subgroup Alumni Chapter like African-American Alumni Chapters or Black Alumni Chapters  and alike. I know one school needs one! And also, you can go to your reunions or meetups. Even serve on Alumni Board of Directors to read scholarship essays, select future speakers,  fix up your old classroom/dorm or go to a homecoming game, and maybe as a idea: you might be called to speak at your old high school or college at a future commencement ceremony! Better get cracking on the donations, philanthropic needs and JOBS now!

And yes you can still buy that swag of stuff!

Class of 2016: take a freaking bow! The celebration has been summarized and concluded. Time to get to work.

Sincerely,

Stephen

Alright. I’m about to dive in this commentary about some of this miscommunication about what goes on in this generation of smartphones to social media. These words for you older folks are on the minds of our youth, and some of us under 30 or 40 are just in the mix of this stuff.

So let’s go over this miscommunication of this Generation:

Opinions = Hating. Well not that much. Any dude or girl have an opinion of anykind. Like the memes most of you put everyday. They aren’t always telling the truth, just opinionated and sometimes not very truthful!

Showing Feelings = Weak. This is nothing new. Yes Men, we can show emotions also. Why is it that many have to feel that being in your feeling is a sign of concern? You can be mad as hell and not feel weak like a wuss.

Complement/Text=Thirsty. OK if a nice dude says nice shoes to a lady, or vice versa. Or if a lady tells another lady “You look gorgeous in that dress” it’s not worthy to have a heart attack. None! Even with texting a good complement of hashtaging or this:🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥👐👐👐👐. So I don’t get it! It’s not a “Thirsty” thing all the time!

College Degrees = Useless. Seriously? If that’s the case, why there are displays of having one? I have two college degrees and yes I’m happy that I finished them. They aren’t really useless you to have a realize that the work done is reflected and summarized.  If the college degrees are really USELESS, then why the hard work reflected? I’ll agree to a point that having a degree in trying to work with it, is not always easy. But many of the companies needs to understand, that the work must be appreciated by the time the walk across the stage is done. So yes, education must matter! Even after you get the degree!

Social Media “Likes” = Value. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We all get a kick out of the likes of what we display on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and many others. We know. But not many will actually “Like” what you say, display, share, comment, or upload onto your Social Media things. So guess what? It happens. But if your likes get a dislike of a mean face, well you know what’s up. And don’t hard on the feelings that your super cool group didn’t like that pic or comment!

Bottle Girl/Bartender =Celebrity: Well, if you have a great bartender that does the cool drinks on the house, then that person is a like a well known warrior. I also think that the Barkeeps know the deal when it comes to celebrate with the Jack Daniels, Sodas, Waters, and Jim Beams on standby.

Scammer (Credit Cards) =  Successful: Um NO! If you know those scammer folks always getting your pin number like a Nigerian bad boss scammer, then yes you are misinformed. What you need to understand that these Scamming folks DON’T EVEN CARE about your finances. All they want to do is steal your money for their gain. In the event, they will lose when they get caught. Reminds me of those Scammers that caused Educators Credit Union to upgrade their security for Debit Cards with ATMs.

Drug Dealer = Boss. STOP THE PAIN! The real bosses are those who own their business proudly. And I know some “Bosses” who do the darn thing and still haven’t done a drug game. Stop the negative!

Ok,  about this F-Boy Cuffin a Bottle Girl = Power Couple: Well , let me say this. I know folks whom are better than this and still do it well as a couple. And no you don’t have to be a F-Boy Cuffin a so-called Bottle Girl to do it. What is really missing in this, a level of respect.

Being a Side “hoe” = Accomplishment: I want to say to the young ladies reading this blog, and those who have a strong father/daughter relationship: YOU are not this way. What they say in all of this, is nothing more than “broken”! Broken homes, and the infamous what the others say behind your back. If you really feel this way, guess what, you’re so broken. You’ve believe that since it was laid on you. Maybe if you’re relatives (they say it), friends, or whatever person believes that, then they don’t know (excuse the French) what the hell they are talking about. You females or young ladies stick to your influential goals and have more degrees under your belts. And also, even though that this for the young women, guess what? Boys can go through the same thing! Don’t always assume it’s always the girls. Boys can be “side hoes” also. Remember when I talked about Domestic Violence and it effect males, and broken men a while back? This is the exact same thing! For all you strong mothers, look after your sons. If you REALLY love your Girls and Boys like you say do start. This is also a part of the Domestic Violence issues that many should include in discussions and conversations. All males and females should dive in this!

The word “Friend”  = Nothing. Well real friends are down. They go through the tough times, be there for one another, and being real HONEST! For all those so-called friends that dissed you since whatever, they were never your friends to begin with. No matter what was said, or done to you. They have no right to do your friendship badly. If you really have those friends in your life that berates you a lot, you need to let them go. Lose their numbers, social media contacts, listings, and if they show up at a reunion, either do two things, settle it like adults, or just don’t go. As they say, be careful who you choose your friends to be!

And the last on the list: Loyalty = None. Well if you are a loyal person of any kind and if you hold on, then yes it means something! It means that you stick to the plan, demand the ideas, it also means that you still go through the thick and thin no matter what. You show up to work everyday, and committed. Being involved with the crew and still you can  go home. That goes for anything. If you are a loyal gamer or solider in the barracks that does the job, then yes you are loyal.

So yes the world Loyalty does means something. But the only time it does mean none if you or many others don’t keep it real. The phrase Keep it 100 has been tossed around like a toy. But haven’t many realized that Keep it 100 doesn’t live up to the hype? That might be an disagreement, but it does goes the wayside.

So therefore, for this generation: Find a real learning tree and learn it! Basically what is going to the real stuff and getting the real lessons than some plastered wanna be meme on Social Media! This era needs to get the language right. No more excuses if you are male or female growing up now.

Can I say this along with my Milwaukee peeps: WE GOT THIS!

This past weekend, a weekend after my Birthday, still in Sagittarius Mode with the bows and arrows up. Still in the 9th zodiac season with the centaur roaming. Still in the season in celebrating the birth of Christ.

BUT, On the real:

This past weekend, there were 250 Men, and 250 Boys. Mentors and Mentees. In Tuxedos. Going to dinner. To the Art Museum and having a positive time in town. It was the WE GOT THIS! Movement, with the 500 Black Tuxedos.

I saw in the pics of activists, men from different professions, and also those younger were treated on the town in the city of Milwaukee. This wasn’t just on the town roaming the streets, this was about a movement. The most powerful shot of the boys and men, were indeed African-American and of course it looked like this (Via The Because Of Them We Can FB Page):

Now a lot of you outside of Milwaukee had to ask, what’s this? What’s all this “We Got This” mentality in a city that it’s all segregation, high unemployment, homicide rates up near 140, and most of all what’s going to happen when the tuxedos come off, then what?

For all those chimed in about the hate of this event, you need to shut your mouths! I was on Facebook under the Because of them We Can Fan Page, (by the way for those who picked up this footage of my city with this event, THANK YOU!) And apparently there was a lot of mixed emotions about black men and black boys being in tuxes and of course being so negative about this event that many had to criticize.

For you residents outside of Milwaukee, you didn’t help squat. How come is it that when stuff like this happens for a reason of positiveness, why all the negative commentary? What is up with all the negativity about something positive about BLACK MEN and BLACK BOYS getting  together for a movement and a moment like this? I know this probably came from some sheltered white folks, but also sheltered BLACK WOMEN! What is wrong with you?! And those again whom say this, are just looking at the footage, the pics and have to shoot off at the mouth about something positive for black men and boys that happened. Is there negativity about stuff like this when black women and girls do this?! Tell me I’m wrong!

I have a saying in regarding this: If you aren’t helping, you’re hurting. You are hurting with your words and commentary! You are just sitting in the corner with the tongues out and just lashing at something that YOU didn’t work for! Always bringing us down.

And it’s a shame that even in 2015 going forward to 2016 that this attitude of hate is still here. When is this going to stop?!

Black Women, and others who criticize this via Social Media, (who probably don’t live in Milwaukee) maybe you need to look in the mirror! Seriously. After reading some of your negative commentary on this Facebook page, and others pages on Social Media, maybe you need to rethink and ask what is thing is really about. And oh, I’m betting you’re the ones who had to go in on your sons like, “you just like your daddy!” speeches. Or wishing that they look like prisoners or thugs on the dang street! Other races, this means you also. Some of these dudes in the pic might be your son’s or daughter’s friend in class or that mentor that’s always asking how’s school in all. Some of the men in this pic have Alumni Connections with me though my old High School in Milwaukee and yes they have done the old HS proud by committing their time and effort for those young men who didn’t have a father figure to grow up with. And as far as these young men, I hope that this day should teach them that they have a chance to be the next in line for leadership in this country of great expectations! Black women, is that what you want for your sons? Ask my mother and father, who raised me all of my 39 years.

But I will agree with the one statement that yes, it’s going to take more than one day of 500 Tuxedos to ease the pain, segregation, high unemployment, violence, and tension in Milwaukee. That part we know. But for the antagonists who have lashed out at this: What do you got? What do you have to offer AFTER the Tuxedos have been taken off and back to renters? What do you have to offer to the BLACK MEN and BLACK BOYS of Milwaukee in terms of this Movement? What you do you have?!!!

Oh that’s right, nothing!

We will see this again,  but until then: The struggle continues! Even for a day of 500 Tuxedos that is getting national attention. You other cities and states take notes. And haters, keep passing that ammunition. Just to let those know, that it’s just beginning.

So like the saying goes: WE GOT THIS!

For quite sometime, I had to sit and reflect on certain things about those who attend church and those who don’t. Especially those who grew up in church and now have a conscious decision to condemn it to be a freethinker. Yes I’m talking about them as much as those in church who might not do the Christian thing of giving and feeding. That being said, I’m going to bust out a exclusive of my own experience that if you are a church attendee in all that acts a fool at times, and a non/former church attendee that talks smack of deliverance. Guess what? It’s time that I put the gauntlet on the line where it lies: in the darn middle!

And to add: I’m going hard on this.

Now you may have seen various comments and things on Facebook or Instagram, the memes, or any other blog, or radio broadcast about those who think that the church is full of the hypocrites that go in all of the Sermon, and then afterwards they go to the Red Lobster for their sunday grub and go home. Then they don’t do the things they say they going to discuss about during the week. Does that sound familiar? Does it? Oh, and they pour in the money so the pastor can have that big mansion like house in the hills with the Jaguar in the front! Hmmmmmm……..Reallly? Yes I know i’m not the only one that had to comment this. But however, not all pastors don’t have big mansion like houses or Jags that the members pour in for Apportionments! And where is this coming from? Ask those who formerly went to church and really have that conscious Free-Thinking mindset. Or ask those who are not a member of a church who happens to go online to social media and literally BLAST the churches or the mindset of a church because it’s on the northside, or whatever. And that can come from a “Activist” that goes from protest to another!

Are they speaking the truth on this? Partially, they are half-right. Not totally right.

Now let me asking these questions.

  • Are these folks who condemn the churches straight to hell on Social Media think they have all the answers?
  • Do they have the answers to believe that being a free thinker is all what it matters?
  • Do they honestly beehove all the actions that they went though thinking that it wouldn’t be a future threat?
  • Do they TOTALLY HONESTLY AGREE that all churches should be on the duty in and outside the table in the community?
  • Do they honestly believe that they are hurting those who are giving their DEAD LEVEL BEST everytime they go into the church for service? And then later on to do more to volunteer and give back?
  • Do they STRONGLY FEEL that those go to church are coming out with a hypocritical agenda against those who don’t? Educated, Financially Stable, Attendance, Time and Talents, or any other option or goal that the goers strive EVERY TIME they learn from?
  • Do they actually care?
  • Why do they care?
  • And the personal favorite, in regarding the love of God, where is the fear? That’s right I said it!

I want the non-church goers and former church goers to answer these questions themselves. Go ahead share it. Don’t answer them to me! Don’t comment to me! And frankly those who do go, just sit back and be silent for a bit.

Now for you Church Attendees. Regardless if you are Christian, Jew, Lutheran, Muslim, Catholic, or any other religious connection. Let me ask these questions:

  • Are we really doing the things that we set out to do?
  • Are we Ashamed of the summaries of Christ? Or Allah?
  • Do we really go out to eat AFTER we hear the Sermon?
  • Do we do the work that our denomination or non denominations set out for us to do?
  • Do we actually set out and tell the good news?
  • Do we summarize our lessons learned throughout the week?
  • Have we really watched our attitudes and avoid being “hypocrites” with our actions and what we say?
  • Before the service starts, do we greet and or smile?
  • When the Pastor says “go out into the world and spread the good news”, do we?
  • When we have our days of giving food or clothing, are we following OUR rules? Making sure WE don’t get in trouble?
  • Is it well in our souls in trying to serve? (A nod to the United Methodist Faithful)
  • In discussions of being Godly, are we conscious at the same time? (I.E. Black Conscious, Socially Conscious)

This is why I’m busting this out. For all those who know it all either in or out of church, I got news for you: There is always something else!  It does not matter what church or denomination you belong too. And this goes for those who went let’s say:went  catholic or COGIC for about 5 years and assumed that they know everything and leave the church because of the worst things like: “Oh the bible is full of BS!”  Have you ACTUALLY read the bible? Have you have ACTUALLY READ the scriptures in your parents house or library or your grandparents house? Have you actually had your grandmother or grandfather, whether they living or deceased asked YOU (I’m talking to the know it alls per say) what did it meant? See, we don’t know SQUAT!  Man……some of us are just like immature kids. We don’t know squat, period! It’s all about tip toeing around the pond and not actually going into the pond!  And having conspiracy theories that many don’t understand. And on a side note, I will say that affects Church goers also.

My late Grandfather. One of my late Grandfather asked one of my family members about the bible when he was living, and he responded, “what do you know about it?” This is coming from him who was an Eremitus of his Church Sunday School for many years. That’s right, look up the word Eremitus to see what it is and you’ll know why it’s missing.

I have indicated before that I’m a 4th Generation United Methodist Church member. I was confirmed in the church in 1990 at the age of 13. That’s 25 years for so many of you keeping count. And yes, like a few others, I had and have ministers in my family that expand 2 or 3 generations. From my Great-Grandmother’s generation to Generation X. And yes, I had and experienced the good in folks, bad in folks and those who was just there for a short stint and moved on to greener pastures. And there are those who’ve been in the game through generations are sticking around want to make something happen. I’m sure many of you reading this who do dedicate services to your churches of any kind, that when you hear about all the negativity, you keep going with your craft to discipleship. No matter what anyone tells you. Even if they are church goers or not! Also be careful of the work that it arises.

And for those who are the former church goers and non-church goers who keeps talking about the hypocrites, what the pastor, bishops and apostles are doing in the sanctuaries along with the members: CUT SOME OF THE MEMBERS YOU KNOW SOME SLACK!!!!!! There are members in churches that are trying their dead level best to rise up and do something for their organizations. All of you really need to get your heads examined. Stop being so judgemental. And don’t generalize THE WHOLE DANG CHURCH! That is one of the main concerns of this whole conversation. Folks seem to generalize the whole group all the time. Just like when a black dude or a black woman per say sees their son or daughter making crimes and it blows up on TV or Facebook, guess what is going to happen:

Other communities will be like, “Oh, the Black Community this. Oh, the Black Community that……….”  And don’t even scream out #BlackLivesMatter!

The Black Community knows very well about being generalized as a whole, when it involves just a few knuckleheads. Where as when you have some church members or some church community members applying for a jet, or a new car: the whole village or city will be on their throats. Tell me I’m not lying.

There was a song that came out way before Generation X blew up, but our Baby Boomer counterparts know it: “Everybody Plays A Fool.” It’s not just church folks. It’s not just non-church folks. It’s EVERYBODY!  Whether you attend church or not, we need to watch it. We need to be accountable of what we do, say, think, or have opinionated viewpoints. Yes, that includes me.

Just recently, I was listening to one of my Black Milwaukee Radio Stations. Actually, it’s WNOV. It’s the only black radio station in Milwaukee. And a interesting question came up about Christians after church. The caller, assumed is Christian and a Female, that phoned in during the mid morning hours asked about why Christians don’t always spread the good news. The caller emphasised about going to the church, hearing the Pastor’s Sermons and after all of that is said and done, they go out to dinner and go home for the week. So after hearing that, (which is not new) my question is why was the caller asking the host about the church going procedures? And second, what is SHE DOING? Not judging, but asking. What is she doing to help to spread the good news? What is she doing with examples of her plight of her craft to ensure that good news? Not to comment further but the questions she asked the host, she should be asking herself those questions. No offense to her, her church, her ministry in all. But I would ask myself those questions instead going on the radio publically. Why you ask? It’s been asked over and over again. So why is this new?  And plus not everyone is the same as the female caller! Everyone’s God Given Gifts are different. That I’ll agree with.

  • Do I do the christian thing by helping out others or supporting others to the best of my ability? Yes.
  • Do I act as a hypocrite or charlatan for others? No. I was raised way better than that!
  • Do I give and receive as any other Christian? Yes.
  • Do I love God’s Grace and well as fearing God’s outcome? Yes.
  • Am I perfect as a Christian? NO!
  • Do I strive to be the best I can in and out of church everyday? Yes.
  • Do I force my Christian hand down the throat of those who moan and groan? As in those who don’t want to hear about the God Stuff? No.
  • Do I find ways to improve my church home as well as the community alike? YES I  DO!
  • Have I been in a situation in church where I was a victim of someone’s hypocritical mindset? Yes I have.
  • Have I been criticized by those who are haters in and out of the church? Yes.
  • Do I honor the work of the church with my gifts and talents and share that with those on the regular level? Yes.
  • Do I run around the sanctuary being filled with the Holy Ghost like those MegaChurches or any other church that does this? NO!!!!!
  • Do I tithe or have I tithed or attempted to tithe? Yes. And I know where the money goes.
  • Have I ever heard the words Hell and Eternal Damnation and ran out of the Sanctuary? No. And by the way, if those say “D*mn” in a church sermon, should realize that it came from the bible. It’s not all cursing related!
  • Have I dressed up in Jeans as well as a Suit and Tie? Of course. There is a rule that come as you are.

All of those questions and answers, I have experienced thus far. But like many others there is so much work to be done. AND YET I STILL GO!  Plus the things I described here, even though that my church experience have been shaky, mean, and also normal, I still go.

Do we say these things where our troops go to battle, or our officers on patrol, or any other high ranking official go and perform their duties? Even though we talk smack about them but still give them high  praise? We need to work on that.

I said before that there are hypocrites everywhere. Don’t fool yourselves! It’s not just church! Right now at work, you might have a hypocritical boss or an employee that constantly berates you like hell and you want to strike him or her.  But you still might continue to work or quit the job to go to another. Or start your own business.

You might had run ins with a Police Officer, a Deputy Sheriff, or maybe a well known official that seems nice, but is a hypocrite.

You might have hypocritical Football Fans in bars and at your house. And you root for the same team!

What about the activists or those whom are so conscious (UH-OH) who march around like kings and folks eat it up like clockwork? BUT…….might have hypocritical mindsets?

You even might have family members or group members, or Fraternity/Sorority Members that are like this. And wonder why you stopped talking or chatting or texting. Then they show up at a funeral having this solace to cover up the hypocrite behavior. HELLO!

I had ran into job related folks in Milwaukee whom were hypocrites because of my education I got from UW-Stout by not going on campus. I know the organizations and names very well. As well as those other companies that refused to hire black folks in the Greater Milwaukee Area based on income, experience, training, education and zipcodes. Tell me I’m lying Milwaukee! And I have never forgotten that. Even when I got my degree nearly 10 year ago on Stout’s campus through the commencement.

So I say this: we all need to look in the d*mn mirror. And really go out with a purpose and objective! The “Come to Jesus Meeting” is up and the seats need to be filled.

Man, on my facebook news feeds this morning, I and like others were looking at a story about a so-called potential Lion that was roaming the northside of Milwaukee. And alot of the folks per say got duped to believe that. Folks, if there was a real sighting about a so-called liion sighting, the DNR, Zoo and many other high ranking officials would be out like clockwork to see and capture this so-called Lion caper.

Here is what our Milwaukee News Reporters said earlier:

NOW: see this footage.

Viewer claims video shows ‘lion’ in Milwaukee

Also if anyone on Facebook has seen a video claiming a Lion walking around Estabrook Park, here is a cliffnote worthy to share: First, when you see it, you’re going to hear some rap music in the background. Second you’ll see a lion roaming around what it appears to be a parking lot or some marina like setting. Third, the guy on the video will claim that the setting is Estabrook Park at night.

Milwaukee: if you honestly believe that there are “Lion Sightings” around the city, and if you are in the media, the public service to believe that the Lion (or a so-called Lion) is loose, YOU HAVE BEEN OWNED!

This story is silly. A fake. It’s been bamboozling you. And I’ve been to Estabrook Park and it is nothing like that in the video! All it is to get your mind off the real issues that is going on in this city. And suprisingly it worked. You have been hooked, lined and sinkered. It’s just like when Vince McMahon was the “greater power” and the fans of the then WWF Attitude era was tricked during the Monday Night Wars!

Man, folks would believe ANYTHING that is posted on Facebook. You posters out there, are just that: POSERS!

Wanna pose something? Or to display viable solutions? Try posting solutions to the 86 Homicides that Milwaukee got so far. Or lack of jobs. Or the schools we know and love. Let’s see you do that. But you won’t!

Don’t get arrested!

This is my rant.

This commentary is all about the flag that was: The confederate flag.

Should I go in and talk about the flag taken down? Should I?

Now when I talk about this flag no longer flying, I said in my previous about “take it down. All the way down!” Did I not? And after many hours of debate in South Carolina, and after the violent deaths of the Emanuel Nine, and many others that lingered the Confederate Flag for too long, and after Bree Newsome got the repelling started, it was brought down OFFICIALLY!

Seeing the SC State Troopers marching in close unison, all towards the flag pole. Three of the troopers opened the small gate and cranking the handle to lower the flag. Seeing the two men folding the flag in a semi-ceremonial session when the flag was unhooked and tied with a small rope. Then one of the troopers, who was black (yep a Black SC Trooper) handed the flag to one of the curators of a museum that will be archived on display after 54 years of it flying.

OK now I can get on my soapbox: For all those  who feel that the Confederate Flag was part of “the heritage”, MOVE ON! This is your heritage? No seriously, is THIS: THIS Confederate Flag that is and was displayed on the South Carolina Capitol Ground was part of your heritage? Be honest! Now many of you say that with your family’s history of them fighting in the Civil War, which was one thing, however the other use of the Flag that many are still in denial had a part to do with the Jim Crow Era, Racism portions, and many other inner anti-American Humanity ideals and concerns. For those who probably got mad on Facebook, or Instagram, or another Social Media platform that the announcement of the Flag coming down, yes you were weeping! You were crying. You were just in denial in which that flag that you, your parents, your grandparents, your great-grand parents and your great great grands carried for so long, is starting to come into light. All of this is coming out not just after the killing of the Emanuel 9 in a  historic Black AME Church, by a 21 year old BOY (he’s not a man in my eyes) of Dylann Roof whom probably is getting more Jesus meetings right now. Oh, believe me at the age of he is, and the generation of he is apart of (Millennials) he will get those “Come To Jesus Meetings” mostly in my view, in prison. And I’ll bet the KKK was like, we need more like him! Seriously? Of course they might. Using a member of the Millennial generation per say that doesn’t see color, would get someone like Dylann to hate those that aren’t like him and those he doesn’t like. Millennials, I hope you’re getting the message. Hashtag that!

You don’t see the German folks flying the Nazi flags today in Germany. You don’t. And I’ll bet some in the international community probably had this on their mind: It’s about time America!

We already know that the now former battle confederate flag is not going to erase racism. Racism was around before the flag and likely to continue due to the assumptions of Americans who like to say “we don’t want hire any blacks for our company. We’ll stick hiring the white applicants.” Oh best believe that! And again is this the era of a post-racial society?

Even though some might consider black applicants anyway possible.

So here it is flag bearers. 150 years ago, the confederate lost. 150 years later, the state of South Carolina takes the flag down officially with the harsh bloodshed of the Emanuel NIne in summary. But the overally though of racism, still lingers. And that takes a lifetime to take down.
