SSP Thanksgiving Day Logo

Here are the rules: Everyone knows how this goes yet again. And it’s simple. No need to link, Google, or even #Hashtag. Today, many around the country and in households or other areas, we Americans will be celebrating that holiday of food called Thanksgiving. From Thanksgiving Parades to the NFL Games, Dog Shows, or other modern traditional ideas that will boost the food day. And yes, there might be those going out to the clubs and shaking off the pounds to get loose for Black Friday or Christmas. And plus, staying home for the house parties without the hassle of big crowds. Or just now, folks going shopping. Really?! Not this Thanksgiving Day.

And yes, there will be ongoing constant reminders of the horrors that our Native American brothers and sisters will not participate in this Thanksgiving Day due to the killing of their ancestors outside of a church on a Sunday morning many moons ago. Henceforth, The National Day of Mourning. But there will be reminders of why they are stating this as part of history that has gone whitewashed.

But this holiday, yes does have the two words of Be Thankful for the things and ideas we already have. So here in its 16th Anniversary tradition, here is another traditional Stephen’s Spot Thanksgiving Blog of “Be Thankful”. Even though we are battling ongoing systemic racism, backstage politics, homegrown terrorists, and among others: Break out the tablets, Smartphones, PCs, or laptops. Start reading while maintaining staying put!

Before we begin the blog, let us take the time to reflect on our thankfulness of this day and our thankfulness despite
the divisions, the struggles, the arguments, the valid points given, the political angles, the issues of holidays, the generational values of lessons, religious or non-religious concerns, and problems, and most of all, our personal values and goals that we want to be better and brighter for all to inspire!

If you have a GOOD PAYING job that is good for you and pays well for you or your family, be thankful.

If you don’t have a job and are still looking and STILL not quitting by going to the job fairs making connections, or networking remotely, even in the pandemic, be thankful!

If you have good insurance, either health, auto, home, vision, or dental that you haven’t lost, STILL be thankful.

Always working? Always busy? Be Thankful you can still work!

If you love to volunteer, and it’s not a problem out of your time, be thankful!

If you have a good car or truck that gets you to work every day and still runs well with or without repairs, be thankful for that!

If you have been thinking about a new car or truck and still have a list to find one, be thankful!

If you have a new home, or are still fixing up your old home, or investing in a home you grew up in and not selling it to those who want to rent out, but want it for life even more: BE TRULY THANKFUL!

If you STILL have a good physician or you still don’t have one, but still want to get that monkey (and constant NAGGING) off your back, STILL be thankful for improving your health. And STILL trying. Take your time!

If your birthday or anniversary is coming up or it already just happened, be thankful!

If you have been given a side gig and love to be paid with that cash money or checks, no matter what it is, be thankful.

Men, did you again celebrate and not forget International Men’s Day in #Movember, I mean November? Be Thankful!

Got a good pet or know a pet that knows you well? Be thankful.

If you STILL give back to your community, your Alumni, your Church, your Scholarship Committees, your Fraternity, your Sorority, your Unions, or other groups that have been treating you well all this time, Be Thankful!

If you STILL appreciate the value of your former teachers or coaches, former principals, or anyone who knew the value of your education, be thankful.

If you put in the work to show up at your meetings even if you see the same people time after time, be thankful!

If you can’t wait to eat the meal that gives you life, be thankful you can still eat the grub.

If you stopped going to restaurants or stores or gas stations because of BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE and you have written back complaints and vowed NEVER to go back to spend your money and your time, BE THANKFUL. Go somewhere else and spend your money.

If you are out on Black Friday and not doing the traditional shopping but already did to avoid the old way onslaught, be thankful. And careful!

Still, avoiding all the fake news? Be thankful. They still suck.

Avoiding false news on social media? Be Thankful.

If you read the old blogs that I can’t control the reading but still want to read what I want to say regardless of my black point of view, be thankful! Not just for me, but for you.

If you STILL have stuff in your house that you want to give away, be thankful. Somebody will take it.

Still fighting Racism, White Supremacy, Sexism, and others? – Be Thankful.

Got a good business handy? And is it good for you to make that money like Uber or Lyft or It Works? Hey, be thankful!

If you switched your career to a new company in the past year or will go to a new company to come, be thankful!

Own a business? Do you have your own time schedule? Invested in a product or material that worked? Be thankful.

If you switched from satellite or cable to streaming to save some money, Be Thankful!

Whether this be your first, fifteenth, 20th, 30th, or whatever Thanksgiving, be thankful for it!

If you have many reachable sources to give, or to provide, or to share, or to support, and it’s really catching on, you better be thankful!

If your Social Media presence was interrupted with false accusations of being against community standards, or being hacked by an unknown assailant and you tried your best to get that page reinstated and appealed to state it was a mistake or error and they were reinstated or came back over a false problem: BE THANKFUL!

NOTE: For the readers that had to go through hell with the school shootings, reckless driving, and still feeling hopeless. I want you all to understand that yes, it’s a hard Thanksgiving Day for you as we know. But in a sense, you should be thankful that you can take time to rebuild. And BE EXTRA THANKFUL that yet, you are still living! And be EXTRA THANKFUL that a breakthrough is coming for the better!

If you are a conscious-minded person, a defensive-minded person that you know is best, for your own opinions and viewpoints without any harm or hurtful feelings towards humanity, be thankful!

For my Sagittarius readers: guess what? Our season is back! Are we thankful now? (SAGS RULE!) Shoot your shots!

Netflix footage

If you recently relocated to another city for a fresh start, or if you decided to stay to advance your career, be thankful!

Did you buy a new car? Trade it in, or give one away? Be Thankful!

If you recently installed a new security system for your house despite the problems of the community or neighborhood, be thankful!

Helped with the food? Be Thankful!

Able to go above and beyond? Be Thankful!

For those who serve in the Military, Fire Departments, Law Enforcement, Post Office, 911 Communications, cyber security, Nurses, Doctors, Attorneys, and many other occupations that require that extra push for protection and/or overwatch night and day, be thankful!

And finally: If I missed anything that many have thought about, and it’s good: we all should be and forever so thankful that we must march on. Like they say at black funerals: It’s already been said. It’s already done.

Happy Thanksgiving!

#BeThankful

Hallowed Memories, 2005

With this weekend being Halloween weekend already looming and creeping, there have been a lot of spooks and warning signs of terror that are invading our land, and of course our neighborhoods. But also, it is very vital that many cannot stay away. It keeps coming up so much that many of us refuse to lock it down. And lastly, it is an ongoing everyday struggle that we endure every single time. What am I talking about you ask? Well, let me count the ways: the ongoing war of CRT, Black Lives, employers ordering employees to come in person, black health still at a standstill concerning cancers and diseases, the elections upcoming, the ongoing war in the Middle East, the Writer’s Strike Review, the saga of the now Green Bay Packers, bad customer service in restaurants and mega stores, bad reckless drivers, social media algorithms unfair reactions, this so-called struggle between college and apprenticeships, the hate against the Milwaukee City Conference in Wisconsin, E-Sports are not a problem for many but for some, the old folks still hang on to the past, the slap in the face against Black Men doing the right stuff, and also, vaccination problems, the struggle of churches staying open, the self-hate when black women don’t go the Cheesecake Factory and trying to dress up to capture attention but not very bright when it comes to politics. And the thirst trap of any option that can be evil and vicious which way BEYOND Halloween.

And….like before: I’m Scratching my head again.

The Simpsons will have another Halloween Treehouse of Horror theme this year.

That’s Good!

But it will have to wait until after the World Series and Halloween.

That’s Bad.

But it can be shown on Hulu too.

That’s Good!

But that will have to wait until baseball is done between the Texas Rangers and the Arizona Diamondbacks Series.

(dead silence)

That’s bad. (A little Simpsons Halloween-like sample here.) Any thoughts on that?

So far: the WWE/UFC TKO Group has been a great one if you’re an investor. Is anyone a stockholder yet, or just a fan?

Should men be allowed to attend fundraisers organized by women with any harm or concern? With being a new era in all.

Milwaukee’s Streetcar, aka The Hop, will have to take an L on Sundays. If you don’t know what that is, the new line is called the L as in the Lake line near the Couture Project. It will operate on Sundays until the spring of 2024. Who is boarding to try it out? And check this, one of our independent radio stations, WSME has been on The Hop by doing radio broadcasting. No kidding. Should all or most radio stations do a Hop Radio Broadcast? (i.e. V100, Jammin 98.3, or even the Truth 101.7)

Milwaukee, Remember Dr. Eric Gallien? He used to be the principal at Milwaukee Marshall High School when it was “Samuel Morse-John Marshall School for the Gifted and Talented.” Currently, he is in South Carolina after getting hired as the new Superintendent of Schools in the state. Oh, he was recently fired after TWO DAYS! Due to the ideas of stupid concerns of the Moms for Liberty. This is a Black man who was recently hired to lead their schools but was uprightly fired for doing his job. So, what is the real problem?

So far, how many would rate Deion Sanders in Colorado? Good thing or a sad thing?

So far, has Luke Fickell given his ideas flowing, or still in progress at Wisconsin?

What will it take for many to get up off their knees, and ACTUALLY WORK THE GAME? Screw the feelings and memes!

Last year: The “Tripledemic” of the RSV, Flu, and COVID-19 are all the concerns going into the Halloween weekend and of course, the remaining winter months. And many are not vaccinated because why? This year: I’m asking the same question. WHY?!!

41 years ago, Michael Jackson’s Thriller came out as an album. This December: it will be the 40th Anniversary of the groundbreaking video that shattered new expectations. Scary, but made an impact. Who will be still celebrating?

No, I have not seen, nor watched Snake Oil. I mean what is that in business?

Many were asking and wondering, why Milwaukee cannot have Trick or Treating in the nighttime hours like the outlined areas like the suburbs?

When customer service goes bad, out goes the value of the store and restaurant. I’ve been through this before in 2023 and usually, it’s the people. Can we bring the good side of this back?

For all the Church/religious folks: this needs your attention regardless of whether you like Halloween or not:

  1. You know that “Hallow” in Halloween means “Saint”, right? Look it up in Funk and Wagnalls or Google. It’s the same as saying, “Our Father Who Art in Heaven, HALLOWED Be Thy Name”. That you know it’s from the Lord’s Prayer.
  2. Halloween also means “Holy Evening”, or “All Saint’s Eve” prior to November 1st as “All Saint’s Day.” You know that the most, correct? Better study!
  3. Oh, I’m not FREAKING done! If Halloween is so bad in a church setting, many of us had HALLOWEEN PARTIES in the church in our younger years. What happened to them? Explain.

Is it really time to tell the truth behind the colorectal cancer screenings that have been mentioned in the up-to-date news lately? Especially for those who haven’t had it yet. Like Cologuard or the Doctor’s offices? It is still 45 years old and up.

Mortal Kombat 1 is already a hit. Is anyone up for a challenge that is in progress?

The Wrestling Community had a trade. Jade Cargill is in WWE. Edge, oops I mean “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland is in AEW. So how is this going to be interesting going forward for both companies?

Last year: What is wrong with TODAY’S Generation that wants your attention so badly?

This year: What is STILL wrong with TODAY’S Generation that wants your attention so badly?

E-sports is really catching the attention of Video Gamers everywhere. E-sports should have been around in my day when we didn’t have a PS5 or an Xbox with social media. Also, can we grown folks who work all day in all be involved in E-Sports or E-Gaming? Many of us like Video Games and still play them! And managing the squads.

Remember back in the day when NEIGHBORS knew NEIGHBORS?!!!! Don’t speak from afar! Folks NEED to introduce themselves! Stop being scared!

There needs to be MORE HOMEOWNERS than HOME RENTERS. Get it?

It’s annoying and spooky, that so many folks that want to cater to the wrong things. And folks want to call out other folks who do good things. Why is that? Seriously?!

How is it that since Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are having those sales at the same time? I know it’s a marketing plan. What’s the motive?

If anybody believes that Halloween is this “demonic, devilish, strange occasion”, obviously has anyone researched the history of their birthdays or anniversaries of the dates given? There might be plenty of surprises. I mean we all have them.

Now: here is a special segment of the blog I like to call:

What’s So Scary: Many of these conservative types (i.e. Moms for Liberty) believe books read by Toni Morrison are bad for kids and teens. Oh, hold up, have they read the books? Like seriously?

What’s So Scary: Churches really need to ask what will take to get the youth and most Men back into the sanctuaries. My question is as a man, what is the hold up? Can folks admit the truth that the same playbook used for years in churches is being played out? It’s NOT WORKING, CHURCHES! And many of my Generation (Generation X) aren’t really coming as usual. Want to be honest about it? Tell the ACTUAL truth and admit any downfalls. May need to apologize. And to those who are still stuck back when the church hurt you in a way of not going back, yes you have a right to feel what you feel, but ask this, what about those in the church who wanted to reach out to you in general for help or advice? Where was that in asking?

What’s So Scary: What is the real issue of the Alumni Associations not being involved more in the schools? Besides Homecoming and Graduation. Lack of contacts, perhaps? What is it?

What’s So Scary: Generation X, we need to start saving. We are the generation that nobody doesn’t want to mess with, but what is our retirement yet-to-be status when we stop working, when we get old and weak, can’t drive, can’t dance, can’t listen to Grunge ’90s or early 80s music, and on our dying end? I’m sorry Gen X’ers, but as a Gen X member, I need to keep it real.

What’s So Scary: The Green Bay Packers are 2-5 as of this blog post. With Jordan Love at Quarterback. And what is the talk about him being a “Backup QB?” I mean who is he a backup to whom?!! Yes, he’s learning through the Growing Pains, but he needs to learn more and be more judgmental of his plays. And Matt LaFleur needs to do his job better!

What’s So Scary: How scary will the Milwaukee Bucks be with Damian Lillard on deck this season?

What’s So Scary: Many fear that the Milwaukee Brewers’ new repair deal may not impact many who don’t go to the games. So, what is the real problem?

What’s So Scary: JOBS/Employment. What are the real implications that the companies are looking for?

What’s So Scary: Black Women, stop being so stuck up. Many of you don’t like going to certain chain restaurants or other places on the first date. Like this one:

Woman Rejects Cheesecake Factory for First Date; @StricklyEverything; 2023

And this needs to be stated that NO MAN will not want NO WOMAN like this. At all. Men, guard your wallets and your consciousness. This is one of the many reasons why many stay single. And the guy was being respectful. Fellas, Be EXTREMELY careful! Any questions?

Oh, you may have seen this list online. Here is the list that has been floating around that is so dumb and ridiculous, courtesy of MSN.com:

Here’s the full list of first date no-go’s:

・Cheesecake Factory

・Applebee’s

・Chili’s

・Chipotle

・Olive Garden

・The Movies

・Your House

・Any fast food chains

・Buffalo Wild Wings

・Wingstop

・Red Lobster

・A buffet

・iHOP

・Denny’s

・The gym

・Church

・Starbucks

・Coffee date

・Ice cream date

・Family function

・Movie night at home

・Somewhere that requires a long drive

・Bowling

・Nightclub

・Hookah bar

・A bar for just drinks

・Waffle House

・Sports event

What’s So Scary: Three words – Jada Pinkett Smith. I thought I would never say this, but what is her problem? Come on now!

What’s So Scary: Men’s Health. Men, we must return to the doctors. Enough with all the “Men are dying quickly” and it’s not just diseases like prostate cancer and diabetes. Suicide and homicide are also buzz killers, but nobody wants to admit it until…….not going to say. Can we please, do better in this? What’s funny about this, is that OLDER MEN are telling other Men now are saying this. But when OLDER MEN say this, where are the YOUNGER MEN in the conversation? Like their sons, grandsons, nephews, cousins, Fraternity Members, Younger Veterans, under 40 years old, etc.? Women don’t trip, you say this also.

What’s So Scary: These robocalls think that you need to call someone back or ask you if you are planning to sell your property or house. Question: Is this legal? They need to stop.

What’s So Scary: The ongoing hate against MPS. This time, I’m referencing the new Milwaukee City Conference in which our Football teams fought hard in the city, but when it comes to the STATE, they lose big. I believe that the change in culture should be implemented to compete, but I also think it’s a conspiracy when the other schools look at Milwaukee City Sports teams, it’s not just against them. It’s against Milwaukee Public Schools. And I’m saying this because it’s been like this for a long time, and it’s not a shocking factor. To quote the young kids, “I stand on that.”

What’s So Scary: Hackers. Folks in the digital land, it’s time to stand up to Hackers and tell them we are NOT messing around. Agree or disagree? Get a job in Cyber Security and fight them off. And defend your digital stuff at all costs!

What’s So Scary: Anti-Introversion. Introverts, we know who we are, and are still learning. Why are these extroverted folks from friends, church, and family just…. dumb and still asking questions like: “Why are you so quiet?” We should ask them: “Why can’t you just shut up and mind YOUR business?” It’s not that serious. Buzz off! We Introverts are not messing with you Extroverts, so don’t mess with us.

What’s So Scary: The Ongoing Struggle in the Middle East. What is the end game? We’ve been saying “Peace in the Middle East” for so long, we still haven’t seen any results. Can we or they make it stick?! And to be clear: This blog and Stephen’s Spot on WordPress FB and X pages will NOT post ANY misinformation about the ongoing struggle. Not here, not anywhere! Don’t want that smoke. Regular discussions are fine and dandy, but misguided information, NO!

What’s So Scary: The idiocy of many who feel that a minority scholarship for College Students is racist. Oh, grow up people. Since when did Minority Scholarships become a problem? If that’s the case, then the NON-MINORITY Scholarships shouldn’t be geared toward white people only.

What’s So Scary: Reading Comprehension. Why is it failing for most Students? Especially in the current climate? And don’t say it’s all because of the Internet or Smartphones. If the students of today can read on a smartphone or tablet to access information by reading, then books shouldn’t be a problem. What else is the problem? Folks don’t READ!

What’s So Scary: People who are afraid of the truth. That is even scary right there! Let’s admit it, why do many run away from the truth? Racism, slavery, discrimination of age, religion, race, economic status, background, experience, location, training, education, etc.

What’s So Scary: Sexxy Red. What is her issue who thinks that she believes that Donald Trump should be re-elected as President because of the Stimulus Checks? Homegirl, PLEASE! Educate her on why he was and is unwelcome news for America like Ron DeSantis is bad for banning Black History in Schools and Colleges in Florida.

What’s So Scary: White Supremacy. Need we say more? That shouldn’t be a shock or a surprise. That’s always been a scary subject.

What’s So Scary: What is the fear of now in 2023 than 1993, or 2003, or 1983, or even 1963?

What’s so scary you asked, again? Try reckless driving in Milwaukee in Kias, or the recent shootings and uptick in carjackings.

Has anyone picked up the book called, “Black AF In History?” When you get a chance, get your own copy! Michael S. Harriot wrote it.

Who recently received the “updated” COVID-19 Vaccine? Don’t be a coward or a scared punk. COVID is not done with us as you think.

Looking forward to November, men have we got the message of “Movember” just yet? And what about International Men’s Day on November 19th?

My Top 10 Halloween Movies are as follows:

  8. Knight Rider – “Halloween Knight” (1984), “Voodoo Knight” (1986).
  9. The Real Ghostbusters – “Halloween II 1/2” (1987)
  10. Silver Spoons – “A Dark and Stormy Night” (1984)

And finally, before it turns to All Hallow’s Eve, what will be the next display of spooks for 2024? Even with a presidential election looming? And I say that because next Halloween we will be asking the same questions as before. Will we have an “October Surprise” in the upcoming election? Just wait and see while doing the Thriller dance, yet again. Or Goo Goo Muck from Netflix’s Wednesday.

Happy Halloween, readers!

For the rest of the month, May is the tipping point of the seasons to change. It’s the last month to feel the end of spring, and a prelude to the month of June and the Summer season. May is also a tipping point to the month for graduations, and retirements, and also recognize our Asian American Pacific Islander friends for their heritage month. And non-folks, don’t get an attitude because it’s not about you! May is also the month for our wellness concerns for Mental Health, and mostly, honoring our military past and present. No, you will NOT see a lot of the sacrilegious “Happy Memorial Day” phrases here. Whoever invented that phrase must be dismissed. When my late father was living, I NEVER said that. I never said that to any living veteran or service member. Or anyone. It sounds silly to me. Sorry Millennials and Gen Z’ers, I don’t play that.

Know what else is silly? Shootings, Bad Customer Service in Stores, Reckless driving in Milwaukee, the deaths of Tina Turner, Harry Belafonte, & Jerry Springer, Biden’s numbers in the polls are low, the so-called patriots are running their mouths with no proof, conservatives still have a problem with CRT, the History Concerning African Americans, the United Methodist Church and the spilt continues with the disaffiliation, the status of black unemployment, folks still have an issue of Virtual Learning, The Milwaukee Public Schools in the eyes of others remain a problem, the Veterans Groups still need to have younger folks join their ranks of support and membership but many are still asking why this? Also, Milwaukee has a black mayor, a black sheriff, a black police chief, and a black county executive, and the majority of staff and leaders in the City Government are black, and many still complain. Can the Bump Outs in Milwaukee be the answer? I’ll scratch my head again.

Just recently, we lost Tina Turner, Harry Belafonte, and Jerry Springer. It seems that the saints are leaving before they started. Who else has noticed this feeling?

First Bud Light, then Target about the LGBTQIA apparel, and now Chick-fil-A has a DEI page. What is the beef with these Christian White Conservatives and Fanatics?!!!

Already, the City of Milwaukee is installing bump outs in certain neighborhoods and busy streets. Can this be the answer to those reckless drivers tearing up the city?

In the month of May, I rejected KFC and kept watch on Sam’s Club based on my recent Customer Service reactions. So far, it’s time to fight back, agree? Like I said, if those aren’t satisfied with ANY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, call them out. Write letters of complaint, state your reasons, and actually STATE why you felt it was bad and vow never to return again!

Armed Forces Day is every third Saturday in May. Have we figured it out yet? It’s about the living service members?

It’s been three years since George Floyd passed. And how is that talk about George Floyd Bill holding up? It seems that many don’t care in a government sense. (See Tim Scott)

Do many know that there are Gen X’ers are playing defense, right now? Don’t just start with Millennials and Gen Z! Even the boomers need to recognize this.

Around Memorial Day, what are the best military movies that you can watch at any time?

Can the customers who work at Sam’s Club just let the customers scan the items in the Scan and Go checkout lane without any suggestions? If there are those who WANTED help, they would ask for it. Just saying.

For all the Wrestling Fans, you do remember when Scott Hall appeared on Nitro in ’96, right? Which was a Memorial Day to remember.

How come it’s always been a problem recently that when High School Graduation announcements are unveiled at an arena, they (the public) get mad it’s not at the schools? Looking back in 1995, my High School Graduation WAS NOT at Milwaukee’s John Marshall High School, it was at MATC’s Cooley Auditorium. There were no problems there.

Just recently, Master Lock, one of Milwaukee’s well-known companies for over 100 years, and even acknowledged by Barack Obama in 2012, has been issued a surprise that they will move their operations out of the city they called home since 1921. And approximately 300 workers were caught off guard to lose their jobs in 10 months. So where will jobs go and how will it go in this era that is constantly changing?

For the Millennial Bosses: if you think that Gen-Z is lazy and does not want to work, instead of just hiring the Baby Boomers only, hire the Gen-X’ers too. Can you do that? Put a wager on it.

Should Wisconsin get a USFL or an XFL football squad?

The Milwaukee Bucks had one hell of a season. Don’t worry, they’ll be back with a new coach, Adrian Griffin. But right now, it’s about the Brew Crew. Who’s watching?

Milwaukee, our Juneteenth Day Celebration is next month. Need I say more?

Packers Backers: how will Jordan Love do in the post-Aaron Rodgers era?

It’s really stupid: Black folks why are we so impatient at times? And about just darn near everything?! All that hypertension, high blood pressure, diabetes, mental health, and other health-related issues of not being vaccinated or masked up. So what is it?

May is also the month of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. So was it good?

May is also Mental Health Awareness Month. Should we not say more? Wait until you go see a doctor.

CALLOUT: This is for all the baby boomers who question the younger generation who use more texting and virtual communication. With all due respect, nothing against you but do you realize that it’s a new era where communication is very used differently? This is not like “back in your day” anymore. And certainly not mine. But many must learn to realize it’s a new era of reaching out to our friends and family. From phone calls, texting, emails, social media, virtual, and others. It’s all different. So we need to get with the program in the game! Questions?

For all the folks in Florida, what is up with your governor Ron Desantis making all these laws concerning DEI, Black Colleges, the LGBTQIA, and even attacking DisneyWorld and also the Black Greeks?!

Yet again, the subject of book banning is pointless. And why was Amanda Gorman’s poem on the list? The one she read at President Biden’s inauguration.

Many of us like Janelle Monae. No question. But what about the naked angle of the video of Lipstick Alley? Now for all those who are offended by her video with censored, or uncensored, just don’t watch it. The only she went that angle is by selling her music. Trying to get a reaction. This is also the same Janelle Monae that vowed not to show her skin. Why did that change?

Let me add something else, how come is it when a member of Moms for Liberty had Amanda Gorman’s poem to be put on the banned list after reading the excerpts of the document? Talk about being stuck on stupidity?

Who in the land of Generation X likes “The Real Slim Sherri” on Instagram? By the way, she has become an Explicit Advocate for us Gen-X folks. Since she came on the scene, other Gen-X members had stepped up.

This was last year: What will it take for the WWE to undo the concern of Sasha Banks and Naomi? Well here is this year: What will it take for the WWE to move forward without the concern of Sasha and Naomi in other wrestling organizations?

What will it take for MEN and BOYS to go back to church with the criticism?

What will it take for Women and GIRLS to tone down the mean attitudes of Men by being nice and showing chivalry?

Have you acknowledged the Military lately during Military Appreciation Month?

You know that Memorial Day had a history with Black people from the start, right? In the earlier stages of the Civil War.

Memorial Day’s Black History, The Grio, 2018

Next month is June. Are we ready though? You know the summer vacations, June Grads, Father’s Day, Juneteenth Day, Black Music Month, Pride Month, and others? Even Men’s Health Month!

All that talk about Christianity being the oppressor, why did it come out of Africa in the first place? Somebody needs to check “Al” on that from The Truth.

It seems that “Al”, the caller from Milwaukee’s 101.7 The Truth is not guilty of the recent “trial”. As I said, if he fouls up on air, he might be banned again. Agree?

Here in Milwaukee, with our UMC Churches, it seems that a rumor that two of our churches, possibly Albright and a majority of Summerfield UMC are closing. This is nothing new in which that the churches of any denomination are shrinking due to not enough young people, attendance, not willing to get with the times, and the dark rumors of money, priests, and ministers getting way too personal about the money, trying to recover from COVID, and amongst other things. So when the doors close and go elsewhere, what is the real solution behind the hype of the closing of the churches? And even though the churches had done the negative, WHAT ABOUT THE POSITIVE that NOBODY talks about?!!!! Like jobs, events, food, clothing drives, or even scholarships to college. It doesn’t matter how “woke” everyone is. Or opinionated. Let’s get that conversation included! It’s always a one-sided story about this all the time.

And the last thing to ask, why are those still asking about selling their houses?! And for what?

Before this is done, there is one more thing to do:

NEVER FORGET THE FALLEN!

First, it’s March as we know, but it’s a turning point month in which Winter becomes Spring, March Madness will be running wild like Hulkamania, and your favorite college team in the March Madness games, also as we know the most, it’s Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. As I stated in the past, I have no gripes or hate about International Women’s Day. I really do not. Yes, I do acknowledge the women in my life every single time from my mother, my sister, aunts, cousins, women church members, and many other women that I know that know me very well. Yes, that is the utmost respect when it comes to acknowledging women every single period of course. I also acknowledge the women who are no longer here as much as my grandmothers, my great-grandmother, cousins, aunts, and a host of others who have made their mark and opportunities in this universe we call planet Earth. There seems to be a bit of a concern when it comes to International Women’s Day on March 8th.

There seems to be that big question when it comes to asking: “When is International Men’s Day?” As I learned from this, it’s not just men who are asking the questions about it, but it’s also women who are asking the questions as well period, of course, there may be someone who probably would say “I’m not celebrating International Women’s Day until there’s an International Men’s Day” dumb question is being asked on both sides that kind of shocked me several years ago, and it still shocks me now because of the fact that we’re still stuck in this tug of war of an acknowledgment of people what they’ve made to society and to history. For all the women who follow me on this blog, what did I say years ago? If your man keeps complaining or keeps asking about the day, or if you keep asking about International Men’s Day, just flip the calendar to November, look for November 19th, write down International Men’s Day, close the calendar, and put it back. Why is that hard? Or check this out, and I didn’t know this until this year:

Office Depot Desktop Calendar, Office Depot, 2023

You are looking at a desktop calendar from Office Depot. And I flipped the calendar to November, and I examined the month very carefully. And I noticed something on that calendar that many of us men and some women have been asking about International Men’s Day and November 19th like FOREVER. As you can see, on the third Sunday in November guess what: International Men’s Day is printed on November 19th! Look at it very carefully, it’s right there clear as day. And the thing is many of us have been asking about this or commenting about putting International Men’s Day on the calendar. Well, guess what I’m assuming that somebody must have been listening. And if Office Depot can print this on their calendars where you buy it in a store, then maybe every single calendar printed every single time should have not only an International Women’s Day list but also International Men’s Day listed as well. Again this is just on Office Depot’s Calendar. This is their desktop calendar that anyone can purchase right now. So this should serve as an example that International Men’s Day is slowly catching on. Not very fast like the women’s day, but slowly catching on so for all of us who have been complaining and wishing and I dare say protesting this is just round one in the chamber that is a small victory. Just one and how many more victories will we get after this?

International Men’s Day, Office Depot Desktop Calendar, 2023

There are certain women out there who believe that men shouldn’t have a “Men’s History Month”. Why is that?!!! Just maybe men should have a History Month of their own, but the question is when and how? As I look around this climate right now when people ask about certain dates or certain events that are happening, of course, they’re going to be bringing up another question besides that. Again, I have nothing against International Women’s Day and I’m saying this as a Black man. I’m saying this because I don’t care about it. I mean I don’t care for the females to have an International Women’s Day March 8th girls jam party somewhere in Downtown Milwaukee, or on a cruise, or in a workplace, where no men are around, OK fine have it. Go ahead and let them have this. However, when it comes to the issues of men, where men are being faced with suicides every single day, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and many others that men face every single time, but don’t fully acknowledge them as much as women do, then guess what: it must be a concern. Over 30 years ago International Men’s Day was founded and celebrated throughout January and parts of February in the 1990s. And that was the only time International Men’s Day was acknowledged. Fast forward to about 6 years later after 1993, International Men’s Day comes back again but this time it comes back under a new idea to educate regarding men and boys. Now I know I shouldn’t be saying this during March, and around International Women’s Day but of course, people will talk about and ask the question “Why not an International Men’s Day?”. So, there is a website that contains information regarding International Men’s Day that most men are not paying attention to. And I dare say, few women are paying attention to this since some of them are now asking the obvious ‘dumb question”. So, I think it’s best that we be well informed of what’s going on and hopefully without any protest or concerns from feminists who oppose any type of men’s day with a rash of concerns. Maybe just give it a chance to see what it’s about. I hope that the same women don’t go around Father’s Day and try to protest that because some of them have problems with their fathers growing up anyway. And I say that to be truthful! Got to be fair.

March is also Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. How many of us forty-five and over have recently been evaluated for colon cancer? And how many of us have been educated on this every single time? Colon Cancer it’s like hypertension and high blood pressure is a silent killer it’s a silent killer because you just don’t know when it’s going to come or when it’s going to happen. I used to believe that it is for those who are fifty and older, but now they’re being discovered that those under fifty have been developing these types of cancers within the last several years. So yes, for those of us who are 45 years old and older, it is vital to get screened for colon cancer. Back in January, I was screened for colon cancer by using Cologuard (shout out to them) and the thing is it took me just a couple of days, one week, and one shot. I got the results of my test on a Friday, and it was negative. I was very reluctant to share the good news. And the next time I’ll be evaluated for colon cancer won’t be until age 49 years old, slightly before 50 in 2026. But the thing is, what does this part of the blog have to do with International Women’s Day? Well, nothing. But when women receive their test results and get checked out, they jump on it right away. But when men get their test results, we don’t want to hear it. We just want to be left alone. With this month being Women’s History Month in all, I hope that many women are having the opportunities to at least acknowledge their livelihoods and acknowledge the things that they’re thankful for and I read about this every day. Do I make a gripe about it? No. I did not have any concerns about International Women’s Day, but the only concern is the fact that last year when International Men’s Day was happening in November, on the exact day of November 19th, there was not enough acknowledgment. The only thing that was acknowledged or noted about November 19th? The non-conviction reading of Kyle Rittenhouse. The same Kyle Rittenhouse shot at least two or three people in Kenosha during the race riots protests. That was the only main reason about November 19th on Twitter.

Hopefully that this time around when International Men’s Day comes back again, we might get it right. Hopefully, we won’t forget every single year. But this month and March 8th are about the women. And after this month is over after March 8th has been celebrated and reviewed, what will be the outcome regarding International Men’s Day in November? Also, it’s just like Mother’s Day when that day happens and after that’s been celebrated, I believe that Mother’s Day should be equally appreciated as Father’s Day and that it should be as the same acknowledgments as usual. No left or right, not up and down, none of that. And that should be the same between the two international days that many have a “tug of war relationship” in terms of today’s climate. That’s what I want to see. And in addition, if we continue that then maybe just maybe we should have that equal opportunity thing that everyone is having a conversation about within the two groups. Again, I do not have a grudge against International Women’s Day. But if the two international days do exist and collaborate with respect, love, and admiration, there shouldn’t be any problems at all.

As I conclude this blog story, let us continue to learn what the subject is about. Yes for the women here those who are hard-working, those who are innovative, those who are always in the back supporting, those who do all the rearing, those who have been acknowledged, those who will be acknowledged, those who orchestrate and also innovate many more opportunities, yes you deserve this International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month of 2023. But I also like to hear and see the women who have not been acknowledged, who have not been appreciated, and who have not been recognized in the community or in the country however they need to have their stories told. What are the women who are not here with us physically or those who are just waiting just to have their name called and to make sure that their stories or summaries and their levels or chapters can be summarized for everyone to talk about? And if we continue to acknowledge that more often then of course International Women’s Day will be a lot more interesting going forward than it was in the past. So again, for all the female readers of my blog, I hope you had a great International Women’s Day and a fantastic opportunity to review summarize, and celebrate Women’s History Month.

Oh, and for all the fellas even though this is not our month, and I know that many of us are paying attention to March Madness and still asking questions about our International Day let’s keep this in mind: If we really want to upstart our International Day in November, we need to start now. STOP FORGETTING WITH NO EXCUSES! We need to start immediately and not keep on asking the question on a day or a month like this where women are celebrated every single year. And women, even though it’s your time of the month, you too must stop asking the questions as well because, I know for a fact that if you have sons at home, or nephews, or grandsons at home right now who you have NOT acknowledged or appreciated, maybe you don’t have to wait until November and also don’t wait until June because some of your Men may not be married as Fathers, but take the time to appreciate the males in your lives. Doesn’t matter if it’s in school, in a fraternity, in the workplace, or in any other male-related organization. Don’t just say “Well I’m going to take you out to my favorite spot” No don’t do that! Take them to THEIR favorite spots! Take them to their favorite events of the year so that they can be appreciated by those who can appreciate them as much as you do. If you do that, not just in November or around November 19th, or not just around Father’s Day, every single June after Father’s Day, do it more often every single time. And if you do that without all the concerns, and without all the so-called protesting of toxic masculinity, then maybe just maybe we just probably might get somewhere going forward!

So yes ladies, Happy International Women’s Day and once again Happy Women’s History Month.

While many of us are exploring the annals of Black History Month once again, it’s finding a time that many of us really need to ask, and of course, continue the cause of many figures and events that shook the country of America and yet the world. And of course, many have already criticized that it’s not being taught every day about racism. Or being decisive. Or being black only and not with everyone. Let me say this as a black man, “Don’t come for Black History Month”. Matter of fact, don’t come for Black History PERIOD! . What do I mean by that? Don’t come for all that weakness that you didn’t know because of a failed public school system. Heck, blame the curriculum and the previous past decisions of our government that made the wrong choices! All done by design. Again, don’t come for black history period in a sense like many assume that it’s not “YOUR particular history!”

It’s different, yes but it’s a way to understand why it matters. While many of us are summarizing the news about the current events of the world from idiots talking smack about Critical Race Theory, African American AP Courses watered down, to books being banned with black authors of telling the truth of America’s pasts, have the ultimate gaul of redistricting voting areas, or students being told of Black History Month programs being censored opting, and dozens of others that find the second month horrible but still asking why February?

And by the way, I’m still scratching my head again.

So Black People, are we still on that “January 1st – December 31st Black History every day” stuff with the memes?

Already, Viola Davis made the EGOT Status. Anyone wanting to comment on that?

Everyone is still asking, why is Black History Month in February? Matter of fact, this is the real question from last year to ask:

So it seems that the narrative, “Black History is American History” is once again challenged on two fronts: One, what about the different countries that celebrate Black History Month? It’s not just American History! And second, if “Black History is American History”, why are those who don’t want to hear about our history?! Usually coming from those that are so hypocritical about wanting to hear about the pureness of America’s pasts. Stop lying!

What was the best thing going on in Black History Month of 2023 that should be going on all day every day?

Here is a daring question: Why doesn’t any city or state have Black History Month Fireworks? Yeah I said it!

Which figure in Black History should have been recognized in 2023 thus far?

Which figure in Black History should have been recognized a long time ago before 2023?

Which figure in Black History could be and should be recognized in the next several years?

Which event in Black History must be recognized or examined in years to come, or should have been recorded long ago?

Has any city structures or landmarks in the country, or the world lit the Pan-African Colors of Red, Black, Green, and sometimes Yellow for Black History Month? If not, what’s wrong with your cities?!

Who in Black History is at current GOAT Status? Don’t just say Michael Jordan or Serena Williams!

Who in Black History should have been in Dark Horse GOAT Status a long time ago?

Who in Black History would be in a future GOAT Status in years to come?

Still, who is still shocked that Black History Month is more than Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, and Rosa Parks?

Black Churches: are you still archiving YOUR Black History Moments?

Will Mandela Barnes go for a future election run with Milwaukee and Wisconsin Black supporters? And more of Black Wisconsin Media?

For you, the Roland Martin Unfiltered fans: Has the Black Star Network been very informative so far?

What is the real Black Experience we know very well?

You do realize that without Dr. Marian Croak, there wouldn’t be a use of VOIP on our phones or the internet. You heard? That’s Voice Over Internet Protocol by the way.

We all used microphones, right? Even a black man like Dr. James E. West invented a component for mics called the Electret Microphone. Without that, no telling what our microphones would do. You better research his name and why it matters.

The Grammys showed the 50th Anniversary highlighted of the most misunderstood art form of Hip Hop. Just to think long time ago, the Grammys never cared about Hip Hop. Left it off the table and there were rappers then protested the art form that should have been included. But in 1989, Parents Just Don’t Understand by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince aka Will Smith, won their first Grammy under the Rap Category. Now it’s years later it’s finally is getting it’s flowers. So, tell me again why this matters to many?

Last year, I commented about the low percentage of African American Households that don’t have access to the internet. And not enough African American families don’t have a computer. With this being the change in times, what will it take to invest in a computer for more Black households? And as of now, how many Black/African American households now have internet?

Next time you use a GPS, thank a black woman like Gladys West. Can you do that?

It seems that Black History Month seems to be falling on deaf ears when it comes to our young people. We see all the memes and when they hear the name of Harriet Tubman for example, they think the 20 Dollar Bill was an idea. But they really don’t know anything else about her! Same with Dr. Carter G. Woodson who was the brainchild behind the idea to further push Negro History Week. And the idea of black college students at Kent State University in 1969 to push for the renaming of Black History Month to celebrate all month long. Even when it was officially pushed to come out in 1976, the same year I was born! And in 1986, when I was 9 years old, on February 1st of that year, it was officially declared for all time. So those who are under 46 years old and utterly clueless about the memes and thinking decisive that it’s racist, get a freaking clue. Hit the showers! What is the real problem here? I think the dilemma is not Black History Month, the dilemma is them NOT understanding why it has been celebrated and founded in the first place!

Black History Month is 97 years old this year. When and how we would celebrate it when it turns 100 in 2026?

Juneteenth Day starts in 4 months on June 19th. What’s the plan? And many cannot say violence on MLK Street. Did I also mention that Black Music Month starts also in June?

African American AP Studies should matter. Just like the European, Asian, Hispanic and other AP related stuff we always hear should be in the classrooms and online courses. Agree or disagree?

Black History Month events in schools should not be censored for anything! Screw the curriculum, and screw the equity crap. Let our young people know and hear and see the entire truth in print, video documentaries, streaming, and many others. Not just post 1970, but before it. You heard the quote: you never know where you’re going, until you know where you have been.” Agree?

I need to see #DefendBlackHistory material advertised. No, Walmart you cannot do this. No other folks you can’t have this.. It must be BLACK/AFRICAN AMERICAN OWNED. Can this happen? All the time, maybe? Even in protesting modes?

You know other countries like Canada and the UK celebrate Black History Month. And even Haiti acknowledges it’s Black History. So for those who find this a false flag, why is it a problem only for America but, not internationally known? Black History is not just American History only. It’s also world history. Google it, kids.

One more thing, Black folks, when we research our folks in historical articles and it appears on Social Media that this event of that figure might be true, check the facts, first! Can that be done?

Did anyone took the Stephen’s Spot Black History Quiz without cheating?

And THE final thing to ask before Black History Month of 2023 goes into the archives: Exactly how would anyone take it very seriously to reference Black History daily? Not every week, but daily!

Word to the wise, for all the haters, racists, and self-closeted beings, please for the love of God, Jesus, Allah, or Buddha, don’t EVER come for Black History Month! Don’t even try it!

SSP Thanksgiving Day Logo

Here are the rules: Everyone knows how this goes yet again. And it’s really simple. No need to link, or Google, or even #Hashtag. Today, many around the country and in the households or other areas, we Americans will be celebrating that holiday of food called Thanksgiving. From the socially distant Parades, to the NFL Games, Dog Shows, or other new traditional ideas that will boost the food day. And yes, there might be those going out to the clubs and shaking off the pounds to get loose for Christmas. And plus, staying home for the house parties while maintaining 6 feet virtually.

But there will be reminders of why they are stating this as part of the history that has gone whitewashed.

But this holiday, yes does have the two words of Be Thankful for the things and ideas we already have. So here in its 15th Anniversary tradition, here is another traditional Stephen’s Spot Thanksgiving Blog of “Be Thankful”. Even though we are battling the Coronavirus, Delta Variant, the ongoing of systemic racism, homegrown terrorists, and among others: Break out the tablets, Smartphones, PC’s or laptops. Start reading while maintaining the quarantine style of staying put! Or masking up while vaccinated!

Before we begin the blog, let us take the time to reflect our thankfulness of this day and our thankfulness despite of the divisions, the struggles, the arguments, the valid points are given, the political angles, the issues of holidays, generational values of lessons, religious or non-religious concerns, and problems, and most of all, our personal values and goals that we want to be better and brighter for all to inspire!

If you have a GOOD PAYING job that is good for you and it pays well for you or your family, be thankful.

If you have good insurance, either health, auto, home, vision, or dental that you haven’t lost, STILL be thankful.

If you have a new home, or still fixing up your old home, or investing in a home you grew up in and not selling it to those who want to rent out, but want it for life even more: BE TRULY THANKFUL!

If you STILL have a good physician or you still don’t have one, but still want to get that monkey (and constant NAGGING) off your back, STILL be thankful about improving your health. And STILL trying. Take your time!

If your birthday or anniversary is coming up or it already just happened, be thankful!

If you have been given a side gig, and love it to be paid with that cash money or checks, no matter what it is, be thankful.

NOTE: For the readers that had to go through hell with the school shootings, reckless driving, and still feeling hopeless. I want you all to understand that yes, it’s a hard Thanksgiving Day for you as we know. But in a sense, you should be thankful that you can rebuild. For those who serve in the Military, Fire Departments, Law Enforcement, Post Office, 911 Communications, CyberSecurity, Nurses, Doctors, Attorneys and many other occupations that require that extra push for protection and/or overwatch night and day, be thankful!

If you took the time to be an Election Official this year, no matter if you’re getting back, or starting out, no matter if you have been in the game for 20 years or 20 months, be thankful!

And finally: If I missed anything that many have thought about, and it’s good: we all should be and forever so thankful that we must march on. Like they say at the black funerals: It’s already been said. It’s already done.

Happy Thanksgiving!

#BeThankful

Well, it’s time. It’s time to get the unofficial ending of Summer 2022 into a box for storage. What it really means that the vacation season is closing up shop, the kids are going back to school, folks are legitimately trying to go back to work, colleges are ready for Football, NFL is coming out with the 53 players, and the Midterms are two months away for voting for Governor, US Senators, referendums, etc. That’s normal. But in between, racism and white supremacists are still out there trying to separate folks from fact and so called fake news of the opposition, Roe V. Wade is still out there in protesting, already the awareness month of September is full effect, the UMC/GMC is still deciding to see if the makeshift of divorce is potentially planned, Oh, the clash between college and trades are getting boring, the jobs are still out there even more in interest, student loans could be obsolete, and many others including those files from the National Archives that Trump took could bite him in the butt, harshly! But then again, I’m scratching my head again…

Who thinks that this Summer went too darn fast?

Will Smith had been in the recent news about “Summertime”. Has it been weird that the song hasn’t been played as much this year? (Due to the pip slap from the Oscars. AGAIN!)

DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince “Summertime”; 1991.

Those of you who proudly stated about paying off the student loans, if you did that, why not share the blueprints with the others that are still struggling with trying to find that job after college and making more money? Stop being selfish!

And speaking of being selfish, still not vaccinated? Stop messing around!

Adults: stop discouraging other folks of attending Colleges and Universities. Can you do that?

CALLOUT – Dear Summerfest: why are you still on the weekends for 2023? You need to go back to the 11 days, and the church folks need their Sundays at Summerfest back!

For the American Legion: was your stay in Milwaukee good?

WWE on A&E was really good this year. Which was best? Undertaker, DX, WWE vs WCW, Wrestlemania I? Take your pick.

It seems that August, or the summer was crammed so much in one package with reunions, picnics, other events to catch up after 2 years of COVID-19. Was it that worth it?

Why is Facebook is making the Neighborhoods Section disappear in October? Had anyone actually used it, or just looking at it?

About time that President Biden used the keywords of “White Supremacy”, “MAGA”, and “Trump” in the last several weeks and days. Where was this before? And he was speaking facts!

“President Joe Biden Delivers a Prime-Time Speech Warning About the Potential Collapse of Democracy”; MSNBC; Sept. 2022

Will the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers will do decent in this season without the previous key players gone?

The Wisconsin State Fair did something that Summerfest didn’t do: 1 million folks checked in. How did that happened?

Usually, the Democrats are on the losing end when it comes to Midterms. But……will that streak stop this year against the GOP?

Who are the real patriots? MAGA or everyday folks who struggle EVERY DAY while bringing the truth that they are not saying?

This needs to be asked straight up: For all you simpleminded females out there who post stupid hookups on Twitter like these below: Are you asking for attention for sex? What is it? No Man don’t want you! Especially those who are way too smart! Back off or get blocked and reported!

Of all the discussions about those who remain single, with NO kids: why is that a bother to those who are married and with children? Especially with those who are so old school?!!!!! Leave them alone! Worry about your legacy, and let the single folks worry about theirs!

Black Men, you need to vote. Seriously vote. Can you ACTUALLY do that? The Black Queens can’t do it alone in every election!

Many are believing that Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson is not doing the job this far as the leader of the city. Keep in mind it’s his first time, and should we Milwaukee folks be panicking?

When will be the day that EA Games will succumb and actually give the Nintendo Gamers Madden Football?

It’s funny that when the subject of Black Men comes YET AGAIN: it’s almost about as non-existent. Ranging from they can’t showing emotions, not acting white, and many others that prevent men from being men. Or Black Men to be Black Men. It extends from other men telling them as boys not to cry, to WOMEN won’t accept weak men. It’s all a cycle that continues harshly and dumb. Is it mental health? Is it a generational curse? What is THE ACTUAL PROBLEM?!!! Some of the family members who say this, really need Jesus. More like swift kick in the head.

The 21st Anniversary of 9/11 is coming up on Sunday, September 11th. Are we still united, or will the struggle continue? Keep in mind that during that time, everyone and about everything was on lockdown!

It seems that Milwaukee made the list as being as a “polite city”. When did that happened?

The Milwaukee Bucks won another championship! But it was in ESports of NBA2K23. Does it really state that the urge of Video Games is not a waste of time? And by the way, ESports or EGaming is making moves in the schools, colleges and universities. Plus, it’s a new outlook on jobs, college scholarships (FULL RIDE) and others. Now what?!

Hip Hop Music is 49 years old, what will be the goal of its 50th Anniversary in 2023?

MEN: It’s September. It’s Prostate Cancer Month. You know this, right? Get checked!

TUSHY is not that real on Facebook. Or is it?

CHILDREN: It’s September. It’s Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. Do your parents know this? Does anyone know this?

Has anyone downloaded the NFL app, and tried to subscribe to the NFL+? If you’re a cord cutter that has been asking why DirecTV Stream does not have the NFL Network, this might be a possible option.

Also, September is Alopecia, Suicide, and Leukemia Awareness Month. Are we backing those who have these symptoms?

Who is this “Special Master” that 45 is mentioning? Another white supremacist?

If watching the WWE lately, we are just looking at new formats, angles, storylines, wrestlers coming back that were previously released under Vince McMahon, and GenXers like Stephanie McMahon, Nick Khan and Paul Levesque (aka Triple H) are in charge. Thoughts on this? It’s been a banger so far, kiddos.

For all the punk Conservatives, MAGA Freaks, and Trump Fans, why would you want to come for Roland Martin? Like seriously, you DO NOT WANT that smoke! But if you want it so bad, try him. You will not like the results. He knows what he is talking about. It’s you that are confused with that MAGA mess! That book called “White Fear” is coming very soon, on September 13th. Be very scared. He’s talking about you!

Pre-Order WHITE FEAR: How the Browing of America Is making White Folks Lose Their Minds, Roland Martin Unfiltered, Black Star Network, July 2022

Is wearing white after Labor Day is really a bad thing?

If you are a 23 year old rap artist (Erica Banks) that was recently twerking in front of teenage boys in a high school in Atlanta, what was that about? And who booked this crap?!!!!! DUMB!

Milwaukee, are we really serious about having the RNC here in 2024? Let me remind all, not everyone will be a fan of it. Even if you haven’t been to Milwaukee in a long time. Nashville, you should have took it.

Who REALLY should celebrate Labor Day the most? Those that work, or those pretend of making money? Or those who like to scam folks out of money?

Who really should celebrate the results of a true Labor Day?

Can Virtual Folks or work from home employees, or Hybrid workers have a Labor Day even though the companies want them back in person so bad? Look, it doesn’t matter if it’s in person or virtually, or both it is WORK! We need to get it straight.

For all those who volunteered or still volunteering, they too should get a Labor Day. True or no?

As the summer vacation goes out in a bang, here comes the school semester. Who’s really ready for the kids to comeback? Either in person or virtual?

Why are many folks being NOT READY for Virtual Education? Lots of folks need to be teched! Get used to it!

We are two months away from the Midterm elections. Who’s voting?

Again, it seems the clash of College and the Trades are still a mess. Look, if folks are going into the Colleges/Universities: LET THEM. If those going into the trades, let them. And if anyone (and I mean ANYONE) makes a mockery they are stupid. Are we understanding this?

So, it seems Mar-A-Lago is a site of secrets from the Government. What else 45 was hiding?

Finally, as this close: there is just one question that remains in all this scratching – Who’s winning the Superbowl and College Championships this season?

Get ready for Autumn, folks.

This is the “My Take” I’ve been saving. Actually, for quite some time. The unexpected death of Kevin Samuels as we all heard for the last several weeks. No matter what side you are on. As we know that his death was indeed a shock to many, but what about his lessons. You know the ones about that he somewhat “went after” black women being damaged or leftovers. But before we dive into my commentary, let it be known that this blog is not against black women at all. This is just a more talked about the conversation that many are afraid to touch.

Now, let’s talk about Kevin Samuels and who he was. Of course, he was black. Kevin Samuels was born in Oklahoma. Actually Oklahoma City. Graduated from High School, and attended college at the University of Oklahoma, but was unable to graduate at 21 years old due to a health condition of cancer. Kevin studied Chemical Engineering while in college. He also worked in the industry of Marketing before going into Image Consulting in 2013. His Youtube page of this marketing brand had famous entertainers,

Okay now, this is the actual question that many have been asking: where did Kevin Samuels came up with these quoting of women who are over 35 years of age, being leftovers? This is the actual phrase or similar phrase that seem to have black women up in arms and upset at the now late Kevin Samuels. Where did you get that from? Where did he get the quote or statement about women being over 35 leftovers and out of the game so to speak? Where did Kevin Samuels actually get that quote from that cause so many to be very upset, shot, or even not that surprised? The answer may surprise you. I googled the phrase that many women are facing of being upset and I put the word Chinese into the search. And then it led me to a page where it was referencing the phrase that Kevin Samuels use but it also reference where it was coming from the country of China.

From the website wikihub.com here is a noted piece of information behind the phrase of the 35 years old leftovers phrase that Kevin Samuels used in his most recent podcast online:

“Actually, he was talking about what women 27 or over are called in parts of Asia, particularly China. He used them as an example because he was showing women here what would happen to them if they didn’t secure a man. He showed them having trouble with their finances, the issues of their governments being unable to take care of them, and many of them becoming homeless and depressed.”

Best part of the conversation right there. So Kevin Samuels used that phrase as a thought to actually direct or to clarify to those who are lonely, depressed, or always thinking they are woke that this will be your imminent future if you do not improve your ways to live further. Sort of like every single December that we look “A Christmas Carol” in which that the spirit of Jacob Marley comes into the house of Ebenezer Scrooge with chains and boxes and convinces him to change his ways before it gets even worse. We know how that story ends. I know this is not the holiday season, but this goes on every single day and apparently what Kevin Samuels sampled was a thought that this would happen if you continue to go down the wrong path as you were somewhat raised, or inherited based on your feelings and opinions. What was most disturbing about this quote is the fact that a lot of people, especially a lot of black women kind of took this very personally. It didn’t matter if her name was Vivica A Fox, or even Pastor Jamal Bryant everybody had something to say about the now deceased image consultant of Kevin Samuels and the quote that he used when he was still living.

And for those also who now mourn his death in a mocking laughing fashion almost like The Wizard Of Oz in reference and singing: “ding dong the witch is dead”. Or in this reference: “ding dong Kevin Samuels has died”. I’m beginning to ask: Okay so you didn’t like the guy, big deal! But why mock him in his passing and which he may never come back again? Let me just say if you’re one of those black women or black men or both who were lauding and laughing and celebrating his death like it was the biggest party of the year: Be careful. Be EXTREMELY careful! If this were you, and the way that you’re going and some people didn’t like some of the things that you didn’t said or did, guess what it could happen to you!

Many are talking about how Kevin Samuels disrespected black women. Speaking of disrespect, do you know who was disrespected the most? His mother, Beverly Samuels-Birch.

Kevin Samuels’ mother had to find out through social media, that her son passed away. His mother and the family was not notified properly about the passing. There was no official statements from the authorities, or nothing. All of that was online. Now if you want to talk about being disrespected, reference that! The mocking portion in which that has been circulated, reminds me in scripture when Jesus was mocked for his beliefs. (Mark 15:20-29) And of course he was considered being as a great savior of all people.

But I know Kevin Samuels was not Jesus, and Jesus was not Kevin Samuels. What I’m trying to say, is when people target those who are mocked for certain things that they don’t understand, it clearly tells them by their attitudes. Have I been mocked before? Yes I have. Reference my UW Stout days as a distance learning student in my blogs a while back. Reference the time of me being bullied in school. Again, all in the stories.

The one true thing in all of this, yes Kevin Samuels reminds me of the shock jock that wants to get everybody talking. And yet many do respond and agree and/or disagree which is valuable in terms of understanding of what’s going on currently and previously. But however, even in death, many of you are still talking about him anyway. Couldn’t let go of the rope, eh? And most recently the commentary has not stopped since his passing. So I’ll begin to ask the question: why do you think many have flocked to him for advice? And why many are still referencing him as a resource in the response of the current climate in today’s society of the black community?

Oh I get it. It’s the material. It’s like in pro wrestling, this is what you called a “Work Shoot. Why? More on that later.

Just recently in a update, several weeks after his passing, there was a report that he passed away due to the silent killer of High Blood Pressure and Hypertension. This is very common in the Black Community and a concern among black health. Mostly, black men are likely in the high percentage than black women that get High Blood Pressure and Hypertension. Collectively, it is a concern based on history, eating, drinking, genetics, etc. There were those on social media, who said Kevin Samuels was drinking a lot of Red Bulls that made him die. What else did he eat? What else did he consume in his eating? What was his previous conditions that was not reported?

In regards overall, there will be questions and answers in regarding Kevin Samuels’ passing and the reasons behind it. But yet still there will be those who would talk smack about him even in death. But there is one thing though, there will be those who will defend him not only he was a black male, but yet hindering the truth about relationships going forward between men and women alike. Love him or hate him, Kevin Samuels made everyone talking.

For the rest of the month, May is the tipping point of the seasons to change. It’s the last month to feel the end of spring, and a prelude to the month of June and Summer. It sounds silly to me. Sorry Millennials and Gen Z’ers, I don’t play that.

Know what else is silly? The Mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde. The Deer District had a Shooting Incident, and The NRA in Texas meeting after a Mass Shooting days earlier. Reckless driving in Milwaukee, Black folks exiting OUT of the U.S. due to racism and white supremacy. Biden’s numbers in the polls are low, the so-called patriots are running their mouths with no proof, conservatives still have a problem with CRT, the COVID Numbers are catching up AGAIN, and the offices have spoken about returning to work in person (Unceremoniously), the United Methodist Church and the spilt continues with the GMC, the status of black unemployment, folks still have an issue of Virtual Learning, Oh what about the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel printing the paper in all places: PEORIA ILLINOIS?!!!! Are you F ING Kidding me?! The Milwaukee Public Schools in the eyes of others remain a problem, the Veterans Groups still need to have younger folks join their ranks of support and membership but many are still asking why this? Also, Milwaukee has a black mayor, a black sheriff, a black police chief, a black county executive, and the majority of staff and leaders in the City Government are black and many still complain. Oh did I mention that the trademark of Juneteenth is silly too, by WALMART?! Come on!

Speaking of silly and stupid, read below this story while I scratch my head yet again.

May 21st, 2022 at Educators Credit Union, Milwaukee, WI.

This vehicle was giving me problems recently in Wauwatosa. The driver was an inpatient black man that was almost the verbally negative response about moving my car in a BANK Drive Up in Milwaukee. If this driver is still alive and in the Milwaukee Area, what was your PROBLEM with me?!!! I’m keeping this up to see if this vehicle needs an owner’s check.

By the way: I just looked up his license plate on the State of Wisconsin’s DOT website, and Lord Behold, this jackoff hasn’t renewed his plate! What an idiot! Black folks, word of advice, have some patience while waiting in line, please! What’s the problem?!!! That’s all I’m saying. Our own black people are just that with an attitude at times…And International Autos should have warned him about his mental health! This driver will be reported! To quote Ice Cube: “Check yourself before you wreck yourself.” And let this be a lesson, if any driver in this City, County, or State gives you a hard time and commits a mess like this in a public setting, do a search of the license plate and submit a complaint to the management. Address the issue. And surely hold the company ACCOUNTABLE!

Source: State of Wisconsin DOT, 2022.

Just to add, I did contact Educators Credit Union about the situation, and will be passed to the Management of the Bank. So yes, they know.

Armed Forces Day is every third Saturday in May. Have we figured it out yet? It’s about the living service members?

It’s been two years since George Floyd passed. And how is that talk about George Floyd Bill holding up? It seems that many don’t care in a government sense.

Also in the month of May:

These ten African Americans were recently gunned down at a Tops Grocery Store in Buffalo, New York. And they were killed by an 18-year-old, Payton Gendron who had just thrown his life away in the name of White Supremacy. Really?!

“MKE Memorial Day Ends” – WISN 12, 2022

With all the stuff in the world, the Milwaukee Memorial Day Parade was halted after a 154-year streak in the city. The reasons are due to lack of enthusiasm and financial concerns. So….what was the enthusiastic part though?

Recently, Walmart just pulled a product from their merchandise regarding Juneteenth. The ice cream. But the company, Great Value TRADEMARKED the name Juneteenth last year after President Joe Biden proclaimed it as a national holiday. Like many others, every holiday receives all the commercialized options with all the cards and decorations. So with Juneteenth, partially, this is what we get. For many years, we wanted it a national holiday. And folks will try to claim the name as their own. So….what would have happened IF Juneteenth Day wasn’t recognized?!!!!

I like 101.7 The Truth in all: but they need to be educated about John Marshall High School. Why are they still calling it Morse*Marshall?!!! Note to the station: It’s NOT Morse*Marshall NO MORE! The name was changed to Milwaukee Marshall High School back in 2016. Also: do they realize that the history of John Marshall High School ACTUALLY goes back to the 1920s as an idea to educate BOTH Middle School AND High School Students?!! Everybody might be laughing, but it’s the truth. Which came to reality in 1961 until the early 1980s when it morphed into a regular high school, a campus, and a regular high school again. The main reason why the school building was transformed into a Middle School and High School a while back is because of the Gifted and Talented Program. Look it up! Big question: The Truth operates at 720 East Capitol Drive in Milwaukee. Which well-known Marshall High School Alum was a news reporter for Channel 4? Hint: he taught at Marquette University. Be better! Take the blinders off and actually see what is going on.

For the Millennial Bosses: if you think that Gen-Z is lazy and does not want to work, instead of just hiring the Baby Boomers only, hire the Gen-X’ers too. Can you do that?

Why is the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel being printed in Peoria, Illinois?!!!! They should continue to do the job HERE!

The Milwaukee Bucks had one hell of a season. No question that being a champion will come around with serious challenges. What if Khris Middleton wasn’t injured? Don’t worry, they’ll be back. But right now, it’s about the Brew Crew.

Packers Backers: how will Christian Watson do?

It’s real stupid: Black folks why are we so impatient at times? And about just darn near everything?! All that hypertension, high blood pressure, diabetes, mental health, and other health-related issues of not being vaccinated or masked up. So what is it?

May is also the month of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. So was it good?

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Questions?

Oh here’s a question for all to ask: how will the Global Methodist Church address the issues of Black Lives? IN THEIR CHURCHES TO BE?! And guess what? June begins the Annual Conference Season.

Speaking of Black Lives Matter, it seems that the organization has been very quiet lately. And many are still laying claim about their 6 Million Dollar home that was used for Biden’s Election Party and a Birthday Celebration for a kid. I’m glad that the BLM House wasn’t raided for grand larceny. So, with the original members who had left, who is really running the show?

Since many are cracking on Walmart again, and about the Juneteenth Products, which shirt is by far the weakest?

It seems that The Rock’s Daugther, Simone Johnson has a new ring name of “Ava Raine”. So what’s the hate on that and her? Oh, it’s The Rock’s Daugther.

What will it take for the WWE to undo the concern of Sasha Banks and Naomi?

What will take for Men and BOYS going back to church with the criticism?

What will it take for Women and GIRLS to tone down the mean looks toward Men by being nice and showing chivalry?

Have you acknowledged the Military lately during Military Appreciation Month?

You know that Memorial Day had a history with Black History, right? In the earlier stages of the Civil War.

What’s crazy about the Anniversary of the shows beginning and ending? For example, Married With Children started 35 years ago. Martin started in 1992 30 years ago. BUT: their finales were 25 years ago. That’s crazy though.

“Texas Shooting: What we know about the victims at Robb Elementary School” – San Antonio Express-News, 2022

When you look at this picture, the children and teachers were killed in Uvalde, Texas. Everyone is saying that we need more gun control and putting an end to extreme weapons in the hands of those who are underage, etc. When you look at this picture: ask yourself this, what is the MAIN CONCERN about ending this madness. These kids didn’t do anything to the shooter, Salvador Rolando Ramos. NOTHING! And they paid for his vicious crime. So what was damaged and can be fixed in this concern? Not just Uvalde, but anywhere in these United States that the use of gun violence goes on every time? Why were the police LATE ON THE SCENE? And one more thing, if any goofball in America thinks its all staged and fake is a dumb&&&).

It’s been reported that in the last several years, that African-Americans are leaving the United States to move to Ghana, or the continent of Africa. Their reason? White Supremacy and Racism. Others had contested and said, not so fast. It is right for Black folks to move abroad, or stay in America?

“Tired of Racial Hostility in America? Roland Talks Blacks Moving To Africa On The Cross Connection”, The Cross Connection with Tiffany Cross, May 2022

Next month is June. Are we ready though? You know the summer vacations, June Grads, Father’s Day, Juneteenth Day, Black Music Month, Pride Month, and others? Even Men’s Health Month!

After 19 years, Ellen is done. Who’s next on the menu?

Just to think Milwaukee, our annual “July 3rd before the 4th Fireworks” is back after a two-year hiatus from COVID. But seriously, who’s going with the masks on?

And the last thing to ask, why are those still asking about selling their houses?! And for what?

Before this is done, there is one more thing to do:

“Taps Performed in Arlington National Cemetery (Summer and Winter)”, The United States Army Band Pershing’s Own, 2021

NEVER FORGET THE FALLEN!

I know we’ve seen this:

The Uncensored Moment of the Academy Awards, The Guardian; 2022.

This is the story of the week that has rocked the globe. And it was on live TV in which many folks were floored and shocked that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Two Icons of the ’90s in entertainment, movies, music had the incident that clearly was on rotation. It was on every radio station, every TV show, podcast, digital news, social media platforms, and many other forms of communication with the morning paper all talking about Will slapping Chris. Of course, there were memes that were NEGATIVELY targeted, negatively charged, and negatively impacted by this incident. When I looked at this as all of you, it was almost it was set being staged. But this time crossed in between, it was not a skit, nor in the script, but this was real tension. In other words, this was real. And it also designated a time that took me back to school back in the 80s and 90s when I just had enough. Don’t get on my bad side. Or in this case, my “sinister 10” which is like my defense that was worst for the idiots.

Speaking of that: let me take you back in time to 2014 when I recalled this example:

Plus also what I have learned is that sometimes you have to fight back. I know I’m not the only one that has been in fights. For the first time in years, I had to highlight my news from elementary school to about the 9th grade. There were times growing up in Milwaukee, I’ve been a target of those who were bullying me. Yes, I was bullied. I was one of the students that were picked on not only by males but also by females. Now for the females, the advice I got from my mother was the best way to fight back against them was to sit on them. Real talk males! Females, word of warning. But when it came to the males, was different. From elementary school to about middle school, I was picked on as usual. And when word got out through my family about this I had to take self-defense classes with my late uncle, Robert Burton. After learning about the use of self-defense from punches and kicks something was born in me of standing up for myself. Defending myself. All of that was just building up. And I was 11 years old. When middle school came there were folks that had to pester me. I fought back. Literally. When High School came, this was a different scene, but when I was a freshman at Marshall High School (again in Milwaukee) there were a lot of food fights. Keep in mind this was December 1991 and I just turned 15 at the time. There was a time I was a subject of a food fight victim. The person kept bringing it up in an English classroom and at the last minute, I punched the guy in the back and we fought. I was suspended from school for about two days. And everyone was talking about, who won? Who won? Nobody won. What I learned also, even when folks were “ribbing on you” sometimes you have to fight back. You can have all the contract student treaties signed all you want to. But the fact of the matter is when you are provoked, sometimes you have to fight back! That person who made the “ribbing comment” back in high school was wrong. Even the peacekeeper who had to make me and the other student signed the treaty had to realize that also. But when my mother spoke to the Vice Principal at the time, she knew at a point in the conflict that I was provoked in that situation. And my mother is a former Milwaukee Public Schools teacher who dealt with the examples in her tenure. So yes, Mama knows!

And that same mentality had carried me into my adult years and including a thought relating to the disrespect of the Milwaukee Urban League from 2004 about my distance education choice with UW-Stout, and yet my own Church as a 4th Generation Member. When idiots make dumb jokes or threats, it’s not funny. And I treat it like an emergency or a red flag which it was serious. I don’t care if was my own family members, this does not discriminate. Men or women. There are no exceptions. Mess with me, suffer the pain and consequences! When I feel attacked or provoked, this is not calm down settle down moment. It’s a time to stand up and defend yourself at any cost. I’m not playing around here.

Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum” – If you want peace, prepare for war.

It’s a shame that I had to bring this again to the current story we are facing, but then again this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME. All those times that we grew up to be adults, are we supposed to put away childish things, right? Is that what the bible is supposed to teach us? If not, go back and read it. Whatever passage that was. I’ll bet a million to one that many probably read that, joked around it, then goes back to being biblical and joked around it again. YET AGAIN: when folks do that, it’s not a done deal, that is dumb. So with all being said, this squabble regarding Will and Chris should serve as an example, that grown men need to learn. From my understanding, this squabble relating to Jada goes back about 6 years. And this dude August? Never heard of him. He’s probably hiding in some shack in the mountains in the Northwest. But when it came to these men, this was centered around Jada and Apoceia. She spoke about it 4 years ago when she noticed a change in her condition. And I know many black women had spoken about it in awareness issues, even Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley had experienced it. We know that black women love their crowns, their hair. But when Chris Rock often joked about “Good Hair,” for many it was a good look, however, it can also serve as a bad example.

This is the kind of thing in America for a long time, in which you have to look a certain way, you don’t get laughed at. If you look a certain way, act a certain way or talk a certain way, or do things a certain way, chances are you will be made fun of because your appearance is different. So what are we supposed to tell our young kids, especially our black boys, who have to endure bullies and being made fun of almost every single day, while most of us adults are at work? What are we supposed to do? I mean this has to be one of the highest questions that every parent has to ask when their child is in the classrooms or on the playground. Yes, when I was growing up after being bullied and joked on by other students there were times I didn’t tell my parents anything. I kept it to myself because I did not want them to know that I encountered some concerns from other students that would have been being messed around. But when that one occasion when my mother first heard about me being bullied in school she had to ask what happened? She had to ask “why are they doing this to you?” And the thing is yes, black mothers WILL be asking those questions straight up.

Now some black mothers now, they may not say anything. The black fathers? They may not say anything, but my black mother and my late black father, knew or they had to know what was going on with their firstborn son in school around these other students who were either harassing or giving him hell, so to speak. It’s obvious to us that this goes on every single time as I indicated, and what we saw this past Sunday night concerning Will Smith and Chris Rock. This is another example of what many people really recalled when they were in school being harassed or being joked around by some instant class clown. That is what this reminds me of. This reminds me of encountering class clowns that tried to make everybody follow him or them. Trying to make everyone centered around him or her when people make jokes and then all of a sudden they look at you and think like “Oh I’m going to pick on this guy he ain’t doing nothing I want to see how he likes my jokes”. We know they don’t talk like that. But if the joke is not pleasing to that person, and it’s somewhat is escalating to be a problem, that person may feel sensitive to that, but that person may strike back if it’s dangerous. Sort of like me back in Marshall High School in 1991.

Being bullied today or “being ribbed on” today as many will call it way back when is 10 times more dangerous than I went through it back in the 1980s and the 1990s in school. I think that this lesson should enlighten everybody: Not just black parents, and not just white parents because white parents you know that darn well, you were doing this too while everyone keeps talking about “We need to respect each other, and we need to be respectful to everyone” which is the number one rule. It’s almost kind of like the Golden Rule in the church: “Do unto others as I do unto you”. And I’m assuming that those who use that Golden Rule too many times as an adult, also joked around it. And also made sure that the person’s life is constantly targeted. Why do I say this? Look at the workplaces where bullying and manipulation of jokes are constantly repeated every single time. Look at the churches (yes the churches!) sometimes you got to put in check your Pastor, or your Lay Ministers, or other MEMBERS who can sometimes be kind of nice and also mean-spirited with jokes that are not suitable for everyone. Or that one person who is dedicated and loyal? That person should not be targeted regardless. What about your fraternities, your sororities, your veteran’s groups, your neighborhood groups, or any other place or group of things that we encounter every single day about people discriminating against others based on race, creed, class, gender, preference, or even so regarding making lewd jokes or appearance, just because that person didn’t have as much as you did when you were growing up until now?

Now this talk is about protecting black women. Malcolm X once said, “the most disrespected person in America is the black woman”. That’s what he said, not me. And ever since then, everyone has repeated and copied that same sentence. Well if that’s the case when it comes to the subject of protecting black women, my question is what is enough proof that black women need to be protected? And I’m asking this as a black man by the way. And the reason why I’m saying this is because you may have black men who hear the phrase in quotes: “protect black women”. But what happens if he does not know how to protect a black woman? What is the black man supposed to do? Think about this, black men we’ve been hearing that quote too many times, and too many times some of us don’t know what to do. Some of us don’t know how to protect black women or any other person! I think the only thing that we can do is to learn how to protect ourselves. I don’t care if we have to go to a gun range, learn to shoot arrows, or even a karate dojo. We have to learn how to protect ourselves in order to protect black women. It’s not just about the physicality or weapons like getting a gun. The best “weapon” to protect black women in my opinion is using the gift that God gave us in the first place, and that is our black brains promptly. We have to use our brains in order to make sure that the physical, mental, economic, and many other concerns that black women go through every single time, to make sure that black men have to be ready and willing to protect themselves from those who use the attack as an example, of getting to our black women.

Now black women, some of them may or may not want to be protected. They may not want to be shielded; they want to fend for themselves. They want to learn how to protect themselves without the use of a man. Well, you know what, that’s okay because most black women today (and I mean TODAY) are in that zone of Independence. But there’s nothing wrong with a black man being called upon to protect his black woman. Now the black woman could be his mother, his sister, his aunt, his girlfriend, his wife, his fiancé, his best friend, his grandmother, his cousin, his coworker…. excuse me, female co-worker, or any other female related person or group or friend. Or even a church lay minister who is a female, or even if it’s the church pastor who is a female, or even it’s a close friend of a sorority group, a nurse, doctor, dentist, corporate owner, Vice President, or President and others and it doesn’t matter. There are consequences or concerns that most black women will address that, and would confide in a black man, and has to understand to say: “look we will protect you to make sure that nothing else happens to you.”

Regarding Will and Jada: maybe she was at a point where some protection from Will in terms of what’s going on with Chris Rock’s jokes from the Oscars. Maybe Jada was looking for that little bit of protection from Will to compose in order to defend her honor. Maybe that’s what it was. It was probably about defending Jada’s honor! That’s it! Nevermind Jada being a former singer, an actress, an author, a business owner, her recent condition of losing her hair, this was a woman and a mother, that needed some protection based on her honor! That’s what this is about in my opinion. When certain people don’t think about that, maybe they’ll know about it after the incident is over. Of course, we could talk about Will’s son Jaden and Willow and Trey, and any other Will’s kids that are not in the picture as much. But here’s the thing, Will may have committed an indecent act of physicality on Chris Rock, but at least he somewhat defended Jada’s honor. Again, this is my point of view.

And yes, this is the question that many people should be asking, what was Chris Rock thinking? Regarding the GI Jane joke and looking at Jada’s situation where she didn’t have any hair? What was his excuse for saying the joke as it was? And was the joke not in the script by the Academy? I don’t know if possible Will would have looked at it, or Jada would have previewed it, and it would have been one of those examples such as: “Oh yes it’s in the script and everybody will be shocked and mortified”. But if it was something to say, it might be “Oh it was all staged like pro wrestling”. But the thing is, it wasn’t in the script and it wasn’t planned as we thought. Since this slap has broken out to the world, it seems that many are questioning the attitude of Will Smith. I mean this is the same guy that many looked up as kids and teenagers growing up from his first Grammy, to his show “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, and his movies. I mean this is the guy that rapped about “Parents just don’t understand” without any explicit content. Now if you are that parent of today, and you saw the slap as I assumed many of us have seen constantly over and over again, did you really understood the legality that Will Smith did in a sense regarding Jada’s honor? And there will be many more questions coming up regarding this.

And also, here’s a thought for Chris Rock despite being slapped by Will: He withstood that and kept the show going like nothing happened. And despite the apologies, yes Will in fact apologized to the Academy. He apologized to the nominees, those in attendance except Chris Rock at first. Then in a second apology, he probably wrote on his Instagram page apologizing to Chris Rock for his part in slapping him on live TV. And of course in response, miraculously, we might expect Chris Rock to apologize to Will, Jada, and to his family as well. And ever since the slap that was, it was scripted somewhere on the internet that Chris Rock is planning a comedic tour this year in 2022, and word is as of now, his ticket prices have spiked since Sunday’s incident. Now I don’t know if Chris Rock is going to accept that, or is he going to appreciate that just trying to make some more money, I don’t know. But the fact of the matter is, this has to be a scary strange incident between the two iconic 90s entertainers. That also had 6-year friction around the time of the Oscars in between.

Now the next question might be in this may be so this may be a hard question to ask: What about Will’s Oscar? Is Will possible to surrender his Oscar, or will the Oscars demand to get Will Smith to surrender the trophy that he worked so hard for having it to be stripped away because of one incident? It’s kind of interesting that Denzel Washington said to Will in between the breaks, and we’ll have to repeat what he said to the audience. Denzel said to Will and I think that this should be examined from everyone’s perspective and opinion: “At your highest moment, be careful. That’s when the devil comes for you.

I don’t care if you are a Christian, Jew, a strong black man, a strong black woman, any other ethnic-related group member (Latino, Asian, Biracial, LGBTQIA+), or any other person in a hard-working profession, or even opinionated, that example should reflect every person. I say that no matter how good you do, there’s always going to be somebody else who will try to bring you down and make you feel miserable. That’s almost like black folks always cracking on black folks because of the “crabs in the barrel” examples which are true. And even other folks have to realize that yes you may not like that person’s success so far, or may not like their sense of praise so far you have to understand that person kind of worked hard to get to where he or she is and if you’re one of those people who constantly bicker about that person being so fresh, or that woman being so cool or whatever, then not to sound kind of explicit but what the BLOODY hell is the matter with you?!!!!!!

Maybe if many weren’t so bitter or so mad with the hate, why don’t they get out there and do certain things that they need to do in order to succeed in order to get to the highest point and try to answer that way?! However, there’s always going to be somebody else who might see your successes and they are willing to do whatever it takes to break you down! It could be somebody in your family, your so-called friends from high school, your old college roommates, your military buddy from the armed forces, or any other person that knows you like a book, or even a current or former coworker that either knew you or knows you every single day from working at the same office, these kinds of people are just jealous that the person or people that they wish they were but couldn’t.

So, this goes for anything. The best thing to do is to watch what you say, watch what you do, and most definitely watch your back! Already we had a date this month of March 15th which was the Ides of March. And the Ides of March realized that sometimes your best friend can be your worst enemy. So, we have to get ourselves right. We have to get ourselves together. And we must definitely get ourselves to a point to improve and to move forward now. This incident will be brought up in the future and everybody would ask why did Will Smith slap Chris Rock? And shocked a whole lot of people who were watching the Oscars in 2022? This talk will be brought up again. It’ll be brought up in various ways and various examples, and Men this will be talked about in June for Men’s Health Month. And you’ll be talking about it again in November when we have “Movember” to discuss our health, and of course, it’ll be talked about in the same month on November 19th which is International Men’s Day, which US men and boys must talk about our health, our way of life, and also our goals and purposes to help uplift this world and positive ideals. So, we must be ready! Yes, I know that the storm will pass over this Lenten Season going into Easter, and it’ll pass over for another couple of weeks or days.

But after the storm is over, what is next to do?

Expect a part two of this in April.
