Oh you know I’m about to go in. 2019 was crazy! It had me on point, it had me on rotation, and it had me bugged out. But at the end of me asking these crazy questions we might understand it better. But…since this is the last Scratching my Head all this time of the year, but it’s not the last! So as we countdown to the last ticks of 2019, and we prepare for our Watch Night Services, All Night parties, and family gathering to usher in transition of 2020, and yes to get our resolutions out of what we want to do in all: you’ve guessed it, I’m scratching my head YET AGAIN!

Alright, who remembers any of my blog posts from 10 years ago like 2009?

Did Salt and Pepa really had to let go Spinderella?

Did anyone really pay attention to the fact that the 45 Administration is getting punked? And all this space force non sense?

What about those Packers so far? Can they be SuperBowl Ready? Yes, I’m realizing what I’m saying!

For all those hated Introverts, not understand Introverted people, especially BLACK Introverts, why you picked on them? Like seriously.

Will anymore Black Pastors meet with 45 in 2020 that embarrassed themselves in 2019? Trust me they’re coming!

So, Mortal Kombat 11 was a real hit. What will it actually take for EA to get a Madden game on the system? Still waiting!

What will it ACTUALLY take to get Bayonetta 3 on the Switch?!!

Most recently, I’ve seen black authors publish their books on Amazon about their Introvert experience in 2018. I need to see more. Can that happen in 2020?

Oh, this needs to be asked, Wolfenstein III was HOT in 2019. Will it be another for the Nintendo Switch?

Which jobs or careers were or are beneficial for the introverted crowd in Wisconsin in 2019?

In 2019, did many benefited using bitcoins or Stock?

When the Grads of 2019 had their moment of commencements, why were some were being touched by those after dancing or celebrating on stage?

Who has or is really learning from Roland Martin’s show online after one year?

This year’s Black History Month and Juneteenth Day was so pivotal with the 400th Anniversary of the Slave Trade. Has many really learned any thing about this besides going to Africa to get woke?

What was the worst interview this country has ever seen in 2019?

Was the Avengers, Terminator, Shaft, or Rambo were that darn good this year at the movies and on DVD?

CALLOUT: Why many black folks labeled the “Year Of The Return” a sham? KNOWINGLY many have not been to Africa?!!!!!!

Black Church folks, are you ready for the Watch Night Services?

Was not getting the flu shot that worst in 2019?!

Black Milwaukee, did WRRD 1510 lost its consciousness after Sherwin Hughes left in September?

So now the WWE got a new Intercontinental Title for 2019. Probably for the 40th Anniversary of the 1st win by Pat Patterson. But…………….which legendary title be next to upload for Raw, Smackdown, and/or NXT?

Black folks, why are we still saying the N-Word? Why is that really?!

In 2019: who got promoted?

In 2020: who will actually vote? Not just one time during the Presidential election!

In 2019: Did many actually went to the doctor?

In 2019: Did any of you retained your resolutions?

In 2018: Milwaukee, did you enjoyed the State Fair as well as Summerfest?

In 2019: Have any of you saved up financially for that nest egg?

In 2019: level with me, how many times that many of you DID NOT support your Alumni groups?

In 2019: Who did the most work in your community? Don’t say the same people!

In 2019: Who did no work in the community? They need to be called out.

In 2019: Who was the “Dark Horse” in your family, church, organizations, etc?

In 2019: who has a job lined up for 2020 that will be even MORE SECURE?

In 2019: Who wanted a job lined up that no one wanted but applied anyway?

In 2019: How many churches you prayed to, in order to be the best they can?

In 2019 : What influenced you to vote against the Republicans that many despised for 2020?

The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary turned 100 years old in 2019, right? I want to know how many African-Americans will join up and also, how many Sons of Black Veterans will join the Sons of the American Legion? Even Black Daughters the same with the Auxillary?

How many liked Black Lightning this year even more?

For all the Masons, Order of Eagles, Shriners, Divine 9, American Legion Family, Elks, VFW and others, based on what I have read this year regarding young folks joining your groups: what are you going to do about it and what will you do to get new members?

In Milwaukee, many of us have seen the sample of Light the Hoan yet again. Who made a donation in 2019?

Black Methodists in Wisconsin, guess what? BMCR made an impact this year. What did you think?

United Methodist Men in Wisconsin, you know there is a metro men’s group in town looking for “Men at Work”. Have any of you checked out any the meetings this year? If so, what did you think? If not, why?

So I have heard that some of the GM cars might be on the chopping block in the year ahead, which of those cars will be less to buy in the future? And what about Tesla?

I need to ask also, who will miss Empire? It’s the last season.

With all the retirees retired this year, who is next to go in 2020?

If many still did blackface in 2019 which was shameful, can many not do it in 2020?

Who actually “migrated” out of Milwaukee that moved to Atlanta or Texas just to get away from the racism but only to realize that racism is everywhere? Like violence?

If you hated Church folks so much in 2019, why keep talking about it?! Especially those who keep sharing those false memes?!

If many did this in 2019: Resumes. Did many kill it for job interviews?

Can someone explain again the bad connection between buying Christmas gifts and Tax Time?

In all of the 1,000 posts so far, what wasn’t mentioned?

In all of the 1,000 posts what was learned from you?

In all of the 1,000 posts did anyone ever to follow what else I had to say?

Which Wisconsin teams surprised many in 2019? Brewers, Packers, Badgers, or Bucks?

Of all the folks who passed away this year, who was the main person that didn’t receive much recognition?

Of all the folks who were honored this year for their hard work, even milestone work, who didn’t get any recognition after their hard work?

Anyone lost their job unfairly in 2019?

Who was EMBARRASSED HARSHLY in 2019 that will not go away? And will it take a long time too heal?

When folks in the United Methodist Church talk about the future of Black Churches how come many pass over it? And what is the main reason why many UMC objectifying the reasons of not including the LGBTQIA Community as being outcasts?!

And this is the last question before the ball drops and clocks out for 2019: What will you carry into 2020 that you learned in 2019? And also, what will you NOT take into 2020 that you went through hellfire and brimstone in 2019?

Now: let’s go party.

Happy New Year!

Okay. It seems that the holiest of days upon us. We’re talking about Christmas Day. However, by the time you’re reading this it’s Christmas Eve in the world today. And yes like many others you’re probably out shopping getting your gifts, ready to get them wrapped. Watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” or a movie called “The Night Before” or “Home Alone” or any other holiday movie of your choosing with your with your family and friends. But like anything else even on the holiest night of the year, we still deal with concerns and problems in the world. And also in America. And in our communities. And in our neighborhoods. So as we celebrate Christmas 2019 tomorrow, most of you already right now. Yes it is the happiest holiest days of the year. But then again, I’m scratching my head….

So the woke conscious folks hate on Christmas this badly all this time? What else is new?

Question: why do people get offended with the “X” in Merry Christmas? Many already didn’t know that the X is the UNKNOWN! Go back to your Roman Numerals from History Class! And futhermore, no one really knows when Jesus was born anyway. Let that sink in.

Who really deserves a Christmas holiday? Those who have everything or those who have nothing to share or to comment or to explain to get mad?

Yes we all know that Christmas is not the same for us older folks. But why do the older folks have to spoil the fun for the young to enjoy their first or some 18th or 12th Christmas as a child? Many of you are just bitter! Let them have their fun. For now.

Did Eddie Murphy brought it on SNL?

For us the Introverted, are we holding up our end of the deal with some quiet time in between breaks? We know us!

Okay truth-tellers and woke folks: can you really explain to me exactly what truth lies within Christmas being as a “pagan holiday?” If Christmas is supposed to be a so-called pagan holiday, do you think your birthdays/anniversaries are pagan holidays too? Yeah, follow that! Is Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, or Marcus Garvey Day a Pagan Day? Don’t get me started!

Of all the old School Christmas jams: Which sticks out the most? No matter if it’s soul, R&B, Rock, Jazz, or Hip Hop? You already know!

So, what was the best gift to give for your kids for Christmas of 2019? And for the Adults what was the best tech gadget? Or woman’s gift, for Christmas of 2019 that you may have missed or didn’t know about?

For many of us who are experiencing a “Blue Christmas”, that means that there is someone who used to sitting in the chair or at a table spot that is very empty is no longer with us. So the big question is what will be the ultimate opportunity to not only to try to move forward, but try to build new ideas for new traditions with the Christmas holiday?

Okay this needs to be asked: How was the new Star wars movie? Don’t say nothing here!

For us in the Midwest, we are having a foggy Christmas Eve. And also a mild Christmas Day. Everybody in Milwaukee has a Harley out with a Golf Game?

Back in the day, sitting in front of a TV with the commercials on. Now who remembers the real Classic Christmas commercials that used to get you in the mood for the spirit of the holiday, and also the future of the presents to be opened?

Who’s ready for the TV Yule log on Christmas morning? All day until about 6 p.m.? If not, you still have the Google Fireplace.

I need to know this question. How you going to top Christmas in 2020?

Word on the street, or in the neighborhood, or in the world that one of the cathedrals in France may not have a Christmas Eve Mass for the first time in 200 plus years. That’s like a long streak being broken. Any other Cathedral or Church experienced that?

Next week in 2020, January 1st: can the Badgers ACTUALLY WIN THE ROSE BOWL?!

Milwaukee in years past had great Christmas decoration things. Who wants to see them back?

Has anyone ever got tired of the Hallmark Christmas shows yet?

Oh I see that the other channels have Christmas shows out. Now you know have to realize that other channels like BET or TVONE have their Christmas Specials on lockdown like crazy?

For the Jewish readers, How is your Hanukkah going?

Is it time to do a modern version of the following movies like It’s a Wonderful Life? Even in today’s times of the so-called woke and consciousness of darn near everything?

Here’s a question also and this may kind of hurt: How is because that Churches are not scratching the surface enough of the real meaning of Christmas as much as everyone else?

Bonus question to ask on this Christmas Eve: And I know many of you have probably seen this movie. Who really got scared of FX’s version of A Christmas Carol? That right there, was THE CHRISTMAS CAROL! It was not your Grandpa’s or Grandmother’s Version. It wasn’t the fuzzy warm version like Mickey or Bugs Bunny. The BBC and FX went so DEEP! That was a Dickens!

Does feeling nostalgic at Christmas all day really bringing back those memories? And if so how will it go for the next era?

Okay this needs to be asked to what was the purpose of 45 have to implement the thing called the “Space Force?” Really?

For 2020, I hope the Democrats get a real Christmas present by being hard on 45 for next year. Can they actually make this happen without beating each other up like the royal rumble?

BEFORE YOU VOTE: Have you checked your Voter Stats lately?

Before this year is over, and I know many of us are going to be doing this a lot: What is going to be the best and worst of 2019 that you want to forget, pass, and not to move forward?

I don’t know about you, but when Christmas comes, does anyone’s mind wonders off and forgetting about the day and time? And no, there is no weed or alcohol.

Do people really seriously wake up about 3 in the morning for opening the presents?

Should Black Milwaukee do a story of the history of Christmas in their household traditions?

Optional question: who traditionally goes to church on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day? And then to the house and CHILL?

The Milwaukee Bucks went hard on Christmas Day vs the Knicks last year. Could they do the same vs the Sixers this year?

PACKER BACKERS! We got the NORTH! But we know it’s not enough. What is enough you asked? You already know!

Rumor has it the Christmas garland represents a symbol of a snake going around a tree. Now I need to know this serious question and I know a lot of you on Facebook have probably asked this question or read you some what statement on the question with all those memes: Where is the actual proof of reference? This is really a fault on our Education!

For my Sagittarius folks, did we had a good season that made our Birthdays good? Sling the arrows all the way!

There’s always a War on Christmas. Why?!!!!

More and more people have actually spent money on Christmas day than any other day of the whole year. Why is that?

So the Christianity Today is now against the words of Trum….I mean 45. Where have they been at?!!

Should every holiday be a Christmas Day in it? Easy question to spoil.

Why do people get tired on Christmas Eve anyway? You know it’s good exercise! You know, walking and junk.

And one final question to ask: who still does display Black Santas on the front lawn or in this case having a Black Santa/Mrs. Claus teaming up at the Malls and schools? Oh yeah, there are Black Santa everywhere. Even as displays in the house. Just like the white ones.

So with that: Merry Christmas everybody! Now you may unwrap your gifts.

By now, you had the turkey. You had the dressing. You had the cranberry sauce, vegetables, and pie. You’re probably stuffed with all the food. And yes, you probably went to a late night club and got started by shaking down those pounds, carbs and calories. Of course, that’s what Thanksgiving would do to you you fill up and you got to lose weight! Hopefully many of you have had a blessed Thanksgiving, a blessed time with your families and friends and strangers probably came in and see you have something to eat. And hopefully that maybe you’ll do the same thing for the upcoming Christmas season. And of course we have to talk about politics, 45’s crappy stuff, the ongoing problems and concerns about black neighborhoods, churches being so hypocritical, (which partially the good ones can stay afloat) and also your basic everyday road rage and folks driving to crazy and asking the same by the question what is your problem? And just the ad more walls and joys and concerns of holiday employment. Yes if you have not guessed it Christmas is coming. But guess what? I’m scratching my head again.

How thankful are really the things you have already, and willing to go for?

Question for Milwaukee, now we all know that mayor Tom Barrett it’s going to put his seat on the line for the fifth time. But the big question is will he able to retain it with the likes of Lena Taylor and Tony Zielinski. Plus voters that may or may not favor him?

Is the Milwaukee Streetcar really that pointless?! After one year?!

Okay this needs to be asked, which relative really sparked that conversation that you did not want to talk about at the dinner table on Thanksgiving?

You know this is going to happen which came first your football game or Macy’s Parade?

Milwaukee: the Brewers now has a new logo, as a matter of fact: they have brought back the old ball/glove logo that has been slightly enhanced for the ball club’s upcoming 50th season next year. Yes the Brewers are turning 50. Will this next era bring a thing called a Championship?

Already, the 2010s decade is vastly closing real soon, What was your best moment?

Okay this needs to be asked again: which families do and do not use canned cranberry sauce?

For those who may have been “triggered” on Thanksgiving, you probably read about the Indians being murdered after a church service on Sunday morning. And for those of you who probably have never had a chance to re-read the question you might have been triggered all the wrong questions. Did any of us ever had the chance to research the truth?

Which of you Facebook and Instagram users were so scared and worried about the transmissions being almost cancelled on Thanksgiving?

Who was not prepared for the “onslaught” on Black Friday?

For people who drive so stupid in Wisconsin roads, Wisconsin streets, Milwaukee areas, and I know who I’m talking about, when someone is trying to make a turn, or coming out the driveway, coming out of the garage , why do you honk your horn so bad? That right there is going to make you look stupid and irritated. Don’t be surprised if cars come equipped with cameras so they can record your every single driving mode get your license plate and check you. And by the way, that idea is coming for me in 2020 for my cars. Just wait. I’m not playing!

Is Black Friday really worth shopping nowadays?

For the sake of those asking and this is the only question asking why is it that a TV is mentioned on Black Friday the most? As everybody knows.

Right now, the Hallmark channel has it’s Christmas movies playing. And many of us are still wondering why. But you know something, BET, TVOne, and other channels have Christmas movies too. Can you check out those?

For all of my introverted readers, can any of us relate to this?

Attention Black Friday shoppers don’t mean to ask this but, you will be hearing this from your pastor on Sunday. Don’t get triggered because you know it’s the truth. Am I wrong or right?

Is the pressure of the WWE is really building from AEW wrestling?

For all of my UPS, FedEx, USPS, and many other delivery package drivers this holiday season take a look at this:

Now you really have to ask this one question, what kind of mess and crap is this? and the thing is the woman on the video had some crack was on drugs by the way claiming that her car was broken into so many times on outside of a house. Anything is try that turn into racism is really stupid. I hope that no black driver or driver helper this holiday season coming out should not want not and will not go through that type of stupid remarks of racism and many other factors. And this is one of the main reasons why race is still on the deck of the topics of tables in American households, classrooms, churches, the dinner table, the neighborhoods, the malls, the restaurants, and many other places we go and spend our money every single day. They say that the holiday supposed to bring up the good folks in everybody, but I have to remember they can bring out the worst in people too, and this is not about losing folks to death. Even racism place apart around this season especially for those who are trying to do some good deeds by deliver packages to houses or businesses every single day. And don’t assume that the influence of 45 is afoot.

For Small Business Saturday, the day after Black Friday, which is the best small business you go to support every single day?

For Cyber Monday, which online store you support the most everyday? and don’t assume it’s always Amazon.

For Giving Tuesday, which companies or donations you support the most? As in idea: DONATE TO YOUR ALUMNI!

Milwuakee, it was so naked without our former traditional Christmas Parade that lasted for so long. What will it take to get a new tradition like that to stick for another Generation?

Speaking of “the current Generation that doesn’t want to go on” what is up with Milwaukee restauruant Vitucci’s closing up after 85 years?

Now for you Millennials and Generation Z folks: What is up with this #OKBoomer mess? If any generation can go one on one the most, is Generation X.

For my Live Streaming Folks and I know you got this: Christmas is coming and I’m looking for a gift to save money and get the best live streaming device on the market. I’m looking at Amazon Firesticks, Roku, Android TV JetStream devices and that’s it. So I’m asking all of you, which is the best one you think is the best to buy? Drop a comment in the box or on Facebook.

Sometimes football players make bonehead moves. Myles Garrett. And also this Ole Miss Player, Elijah Moore after making a play, made a dog peeing gesture and costed him and the team the game vs Mississippi State. What was the point of that dumb move?

You know the Milwaukee Bucks are RED HOT right now. How far will they go for another playoff run?

So far, the Green Bay Packers had 8 victories and 3 losses. But this last loss vs a different San Francisco Team gave the Green and Yellow a worst L on the record. The last time they played the 49ers: Colin Kaepernick was playing and won 17-3. Yeah Niners, the Pack won that one. But December is coming and the team usually comes out firing the Big Guns the most in the birthday month of Aaron Rodgers. And mine. Will the Packers make a statement and bust out the guns again in the 12th Month?

And so far, the Wisconsin Badgers are undefeated at the Battleground. And they must go for the Axe vs Minnesota. I think the Badgers must use this as a chance to get redemption vs the Golden Gophers after this ugly L in the Mad City last year:

Will they do this? And keep in mind, it’s not the same Badgers team like last year.

In the next 8 months, Milwaukee will be home of the DNC Convention. Is the Brew City/Cream City really ready for full tilt in Democratic Blue?

For you non Milwaukeeans, yes we’re also called Cream City. Not because of cows or milk. It’s really because of the buildings that have a creamy look on them that blend in. Who knows? And you know why the Milwaukee Bucks have “Cream City” on the jerseys?

How about this interview between the Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin? Very interesting to see on the WWE Network!

Is the confidence of Christmas still an all time high? Not weather wise I should say.

Just to add also, TV One is doing at Family Matters Reunion all weekend long. Yes, nothing but Urkel all day and night. Who’s watching?

If the decade of the 2010s were to end today, what would have been the worst and best moment? I’ll also save that next month.

CALLOUT: Black people: why do you still put a pic of White Jesus on your Facebook pages? Knowing the fact you know better that Jesus WAS BLACK! Speaking of “slave mentality” and “being on the plantation”.

Black People: you do realize that there is an African Heritage Study Bible that really details the truth in biblical times?

Uh-oh: there are names being purged from the voting records. You voters better get to your Election Offices to make sure you are straight with your voter statuses! Now will you be ready when the voting year comes?

All this technology stuff and google searches, and you can’t really read certain books?

And the last thing to ask: After all this weekend of Black Fridays in all, and the racism, and the good things to happen yet to come, what will the 12th month bring and to make sure that you stay afloat?

In the meantime: Happy Thanksgiving!

If anything today while at work and the classroom taught us today, it’s about one word: Respect.

We all just witnessed the homegoing, or funeral of Aretha Franklin. Whom we all know died 2 weeks ago in her home in Detroit at 76 years old. And to think that she died on the same day decade wise as Elvis Presley, whom passed at 42 in 1977. The fact of the matter is, Aretha you really can’t say too much about her. And yes she had her “rival” moments selling the shade of those wanting to get into her personal realm. But all in all, respect was the keyword.

Like many artists before her, she was raised in the church. Her father was a minister in the south before migrating north to Detroit. And yes, we all know about Detroit and the Motown Sound which also escalated during the Civil Rights Movement. Like many others in the famous side, she was honorary pledged into the black sorority of Delta Sigma Theta, and I’m sure many that heard about this sorority, like assuming. If not check with your friends whom are apart of the Divine 9. Plus the Deltas had conducted a “Omega Omega Service” for their departed honorary Sorority Sister. Now if anyone has been to a funeral in which a Fraternity or Sorority member is funeralized, they usually have a moment of reflection and towards the end, they declare that the deceased member is apart of the “Omega Chapter.” Omega is the end, by the way. Many of us will have an Omega Service in a somewhat fashion in our departure.

Now, we know the hits from Respect, Pink Cadillac, A Rose is Still A Rose, Rock Steady, and even many Gospel hits. Winning numerous awards, even acted movies like The Blues Brothers. For her live performances, we can talk about the Grammys, President Obama’s Inauguration Day ceremonies, and such. But I also saw her doing renditions of America the Beautiful on which wrestling program you asked? WrestleMania. Both at the Pontiac Silverdome and also Ford Field. Now I want to say something here. When I looked at the WWE Facebook Page about her, many of the “WWE Universe” had no idea who she was. Like really. For all of you wrestling fans who don’t know Aretha, does the WWE Network still work? I’m just asking! Do you still google in all? Hello!! Do any of your relatives or black folks you know have any Aretha Franklin songs or albums in the house? You better study! You better ask questions! And that goes for those whom are under 21 and into trap music.

Fast forward to the long nine hour funeral. Oh yeah it was long! If many folks complain about long church services, I’m sure you probably complained about the long preaching, long songs, testimony off script, the eulogy didn’t match up well enough, the dozen of families, dignitaries, special guests, folks protesting about (oops) Donald Trump, and oh it wasn’t just a Homegoing, it was also a time for action of what’s going on in the country. Oh yeah have we heard this before when Coretta Scott King was remembered? And George W. Bush was hammered! Don’t act like we know!

Some of the positive highlights of the service:

Rev. Al Sharpton and his comments about mistakenly spelling respect and telling folks that Donald Trump should use the word describing Aretha.

Rev. Jesse Jackson and the part of him commenting about famous deaths and minimal voting lines.

Michael Eric Dyson and that knowledge. Plus the shade on 45:

These to me were the highlights of the funeral as Aretha was remembered. And yet, even many questioned it. But it had to be said at this funeral because of what the country is going through despite the commentary of 45. You say, what was all the Civil Rights and Activism about? This is supposed to be a funeral! Um….it has happened before. Reference AGAIN Coretta Scott King’s Funeral from 2005 and there was a lot of talk about George W. Bush’s blunders of Weapons of Mass Destruction, and many others. Go back and read it.

Now, music-wise: I’m not going to say, Ariana Grande. But I will say, Jennifer Holiday, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia, and yes Stevie Wonder. All to me were the highlighted singers that cameout to perform.

Plus we cannot forget, Cicely Tyson who was the oldest in the room giving the knowledge and truth as she always does. When Cicely Tyson talks, we all better listen.

Of course the funeral couldn’t be without the commentary from her family mainly her Grandchildren whom were raised well. And yes there was support from the men, whom looked after Aretha to check on her to make sure that things were well kept and taken care of. Oh, by the way the men were black looking out for the Queen!

Now let me shift back to Ariana: And that touching thing….let me say this: the bishop who of course apologized to Ariana had his hand according to the live footage, was near Ariana’s breast. And many called foul that he shouldn’t have his hand near there, and of course many of the former church crowd cried foul of the hand as well. And if you are of the “former church crowd” that pisses on the church so much, why does this concern you? And I’ll agree sharply that the way it was: totally disrespectful. But as a bigger man, the bishop did infact apologize. He was in the wrong. And of course that when things go wrong on live TV, they go wrong! So yet he did apologize. However, many were calling for his head to be charged or sued of the “illegal touch”. Dude, he hasn’t been charged! There was no indication about him going to jail, or facing court. Until I see any DOCUMENTED PROOF about him being charged, and found guilty, and having his title and leadership stripped, and being banned from his church in all, then you can kick his butt! I haven’t heard the remarks of Ariana. She hasn’t said anything. Not one sentence. Nothing! Come on #MeToo movement! Where are you? And keep in mind that the jury is still out. And here’s the thing: many of us don’t know the Bishop Charles Ellis III well. We don’t! We don’t know him, his education, his family, his finances, and justly we don’t know if he went through a background check.

So if you call these Pastors “janky” after one tiny mistake, that is out of bounds. We don’t know him! Even you non/former church goers should know better! And no I’m not defending him.

And as far as the minister who did the eulogy Rev. Jasper Williams. I will agree that eulogies should be about the deceased. All the way. But if you eulogize or give your final analysis of a person that is not matching, it’s not cutting it. This reminds me of my cousin’s funeral from 2002 in Milwaukee that the minister gave the eulogy but his comments was about George W. Bush and the war in Iraq. But it was not about my departed cousin, who was killed at 21 years old in late July of that year! So I get where the Franklin Family is coming from on that part. On the other hand, the minister’s sermon was like the talk of the town. Folks still slamming it. Then there was a news conference about what was said. This is stupid! Was it a slow news day? Of all the things popped up on Social Media, as well as news outlets, you have this man, this minister had to further explain his eulogy of Aretha Franklin to a worldwide audience after mostly it was sharply criticized. You got to be kidding me! In the words of my Dad. Again, like the bishop, we don’t know him nor done a background check! Many folks already said that he told the truth. In regarding black households not up to par of what was previously. And many houses need to turn back into homes. And to think, partially many kind of missed the mark completely.

I hate to say it but many of you whom are sensitive at darn near everything, and I know many of you are in school and college: Take a class on Public Speaking! Please take that course! Not only take the course, but also learn about “tone”. I’m not talking about music tones, I’m talking about tones in the speech. “Tone” is related to attitude. Um….hello! Learned that back in high school in the 1990s, actually my Senior Year called American Authors. And one of the items for discussion was: “On the Pulse of the Morning” by Maya Angelou from 1993. It’s 25 years old now, but still it’s one of the best toned poems out of the 20th Century. Oh, it was Bill Clinton’s Inauguration.

What will go from here? Besides Aretha’s music. Her videos from the Blues Brothers singing Think. Us Milwaukeeans remember her performing at Summerfest 3 times and the last time I saw Aretha perform was at Summerfest in 1996. And the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra was on stage at the time, during the 4th of July holiday. I kind of shy away from that, but now after her passing, I was glad to see her perform but also glad to see a piece of black history. A piece of Civil Rights History. She was woke before woke was a thing. Not only she was woke and conscious, she acted on it. Not just saying some one liners to get all engaged. Like many before, its hard to pickup the torch and carry it forward for another era. But I think that we know that Aretha’s lessons of her life and entertainment will long be remembered and really can’t say nothing bad about it. We can’t. Now some may argue about her not having a will or not being married. But the fact of the matter is, her mark was felt by many those who packed that church on that August 31st morning, and mostly stayed for 9 hours. And the broadcasts like BET or Bounce TV having to stay on for the 9 hour duration. Plus, even having the now former TV One host Roland Martin filling us in with the summaries via Twitter. Look: I need to say something. When I was looking at my Twitter feeds, there were dumb questions on why Roland was tweeting during a funeral. I think we all know that he is a journalist. And part of what he did, Aretha liked! There were times folks called me out for Tweeting in Church, but guess what it is part of my communications ministry. It’s part of my job! So to those whom say that, I dare you to try it. See how it feels. Oops, I’m sorry, many of you are sensitive! Just let us do our jobs and you can do yours. If you have one.

Overall: between the 4 dress changes, performances, Pink Cadillac Cars, poems, proclamations in all, it was really about one word: R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Long time ago, I usually say that “August Really Sucks.” I think I say this because that’s when you get the feeling of school is coming. The 2018-19 year is about to start up. BUT….with all what’s going on with Trump messing up the game, a black Milwaukee Radio Station Segment gone, more of the Becky’s of calling the cops being crazy, Harley-Davidson turning 115 in all: I’m scratching my head again.

Did we really need the Hallmark Christmas Movies in July?

Schools of America: Are you ready for the classrooms?

For all the fans of “Shut up and dribble”: Do you hate LeBron James now? After he opened a school in the area Akron, Ohio?! Hmmmm……what about it?!

Are many folks ready for Roland Martin’s new show on September 4th? Spoiler Alert, you need the internet!

Wisconsinites: August 14th is coming up real fast. So you made your marks yet? Who’s betting on Mahlon Mitchell to go all the way?

For the listeners and fans of WNOV: what happens now after “The Forum?”

Milwaukee: Black Arts Fest MKE debuts. Will it be successful and the anticipation be in the staple of the City of Festivals? Just to think that 5 years ago, African World Festival happened. And unceremoniously: for the last time.

Is the Wisconsin State Fair still hyped?

Is the NFL Preseason still good to watch? And justly, not many will not watch the NFL in regarding Colin Kaepernick.

This fall: it will be my 25 years that I backed Bucky. When they got hot and went to the Rose Bowl in 1994 and won the game. (Rose Bowl with Barry Alvarez winning it all) But my question is, can these Football Badgers of now in 2018-19, go for the big one?

What about the new name for the New Bucks Arena? Now known as the Fiserv.Forum?

Alright this needs to be asked: what was the gall purpose of those Black Pastors IN the 45 Wacky White House meeting up with Trump? And what was Milwaukee Bishop Darrell Hines doing there?!!! Was it really about Prison Reform?! And speaking of that, Darrell Scott said that Trump is the “The most blackest president ever.” EXCUSE ME?!!! And having the balls to diss Obama?

Milwaukee: we will have some guests coming to town in later weeks for Harley-Davidson’s 115th Anniversary. Yeah, our every 5 year anniversary is coming yet again. But the question is: will EVERY neighborhood and community in Milwaukee be ready for this? And also will the Black Community be represented? You know it was almost left out IF the Iron Elite Black Biker Jam had not happened! As well as also the MLK Jr Drive Area had not happened either!

For you Bird Scooters Fans: yes you know that already that the City of Milwaukee had began to declare the Bird Scooters to be illegal to operate. In parts of the operating of the scooters didn’t comply under the State of Wisconsin’s DOT Laws. Yes, the city had to comply with the rules in terms of the state. Chapter 340 Paragraph 35. It’s clearly states that. For you Bird Scooter fans: didn’t you read that part before leaving the scooters around? Just asking!

For the Alumni on ALL levels: you ready to donate back to the old high schools and colleges?

For the teachers: you ready to get back to the grading papers?

For the Administrators: what about that idea of facilitating new ideas in the schools and colleges?

For you Parents: will you be willing to visit the schools not just because of the games or graduation?!

Will many folks NOT be jealous about taking pics of their kids going to school on the first day on Social Media?

When it comes to the black churches, why are they are REALLY dying out? What is the REAL Reason?

Jerry Springer has been on TV nearly 28 years. And how?

It’s funny though, we see and read about all those comments about the “misfits” can’t mount to nothing. Hmmmm……what if they did? And provide that evidence?

When will the Wisconsin State Fair have an African-American Career Expo? It had it once before!

Milwaukeeans: Century City I area will be getting it’s first tenant: GoodCity Brewing. It’s not Amazon, but can it generate jobs for the area?

Class of 2019: are you ready to get this semester over with? Especially if you are a Senior!

For all those going into school/colleges for the first time, you must be nervous. We all been there. But will you make sure that your first year is a learning experience?

For all those who are still in it at school/college: can you maintain the pressure?

Final question here: How will all of our leaders continue to adapt the ways of the 45 moronic orange head, while many of us have to go through crap everyday dealing with all the mess that most of the GOP do spew out? In other words, HOW LONG?!

July 28th, 2018.

Mark that date down that many in Black Milwaukee will not be happy to hear. The reign of WNOV’s The Forum segment has surprisingly closed. Due to this decision was not “mutual” or irreconcilable differences. By now at this hour, you’re just listening to the hours between 9am – 12pm and no Sherwin Hughes on the microphone. No Forum. No more “Bye Felicia Awards”(the awards that got you locked out with bad remarks) and no voice here. But the voices are still out for more.

What will actually be a factor to enhance the voice of concern to the African-American Audience of Milwaukee? And second, if those had been following The Forum for all or most of the six years, is the due season coming for the next level of hosts? When I was listening to the radio today this morning, nothing but music in the 9-12 hour slot. Nothing but R&B, Rap & Hip Hop. Nothing but that. Of course the show at the previous hour was on during the slot but many like me, didn’t hear that voice to talk about the issues and happenings of the day. Yeah, that was missed! Was there friction between the management and host? What really let to the dismissal? Most of us reviewed the comments of the listeners online via Facebook when the story broke, and many found it like: “WNOV made a huge mistake of this decision”. “That’s jacked up”, or “Why during the midterm election season going on” (shades of 1290 WMCS being cancelled), and many also did appreciate the value of the host for his political viewpoints and raised an idea to get back in the game by using a different platform like podcasting .

I will admit, the Monday of today is not the same as last week. It’s a different week. And I don’t know how the radio works in terms of broadcasting or getting your messages out to the mass folks that are listening with management and experience. Hopefully, we’ll get to the real bottom of this and actually get a real conclusion beyond the “irreconcilable differences” in Milwaukee Radio. Not trying to speculate anything, but many may ask, why this dismissal was necessary in 2018?

“The Forum” ran for 6 years. And yes in those six years, we heard many topics. And to me, it mattered to Black Milwaukee and the listeners alike because we needed a fresh prospective from an angle that was never given before. I think also we needed a fresh prospective from the Generation X point of view because its clearly thought that the older generation was listening and learning. Many look at Generation X being all slackers and can’t do nothing right. Well that’s a load of BS. That’s not in part of the truth. And I’m part of the 1965-1981 crowd of the generation. And another reason why it mattered to the black community and it’s an obvious one, we need to keep and maintain our issues, our conversations, happenings, health stories, finance, lifestyle, creations, education and dozens of topics at hand everyday! Even yes addressing crime and racism. The three hours were just a spoke on the wheel, but the reality is that must keep the voice of the community on point and visible all the time. And that is why partially, the voices in the black community must be more than just one. It must be many!

What were my top moments in The Forum’s history? Let’s go into that right now. But first, I’ll dig into the crates of my blog stories that can support the story.

Going back to 2013, I remember a segment about opinion polls:

Now I’ve been heard about the recent Marquette Poll, or the Raussman Poll. This percentage of citizens this and this percentage of that. And mostly I’ve heard the question on black radio stations like WNOV, and asking, “Were you polled?” or “I was never polled on this topic.” Most of the folks in my opinion who do these polling statues, are white. Think about it. I’m just saying. And check this, how many of these polls in Wisconsin were done by African-Americans? No matter which side they see? AGAIN: there is 6% of African-Decent living in the Badger State.

2014: During Black History Month….

I was listening to WNOV today. Yes The Forum with Sherwin Hughes. He had on a guest of the name Oshi Adelabu who really dropped serious knowledge on why Black History Month is around. He also dropped real serious topics about us black folks don’t really know our history as much as the other ethnics. If anyone in America, or in Milwaukee had a chance to listen to him, you probably got lectured on a different level. And he did address the concerns of those who are our children who don’t care about the history. And the reason being, partially many of the adults don’t really go into the deep reason of the hidden stories of lynchings, hangings, inside discrimination, the first Egyptians being black (in which they were) or telling blacks not to go into the doors that whites used to go. I think our generation (the lower half of Gen X, Y, Millennials) were and are shielded from the extreme part of it and many of us don’t care. It’s sad to say but it is. Want a prime example: go to the Instagram and look at those bogus pics like, “Pookie and them were the first blacks to get turnt up in the club drinking Hennessy.” You mean to tell me that we would poke fun at those who have blazed trails, set new foundations, and declare holy hell on those who feel that this occasion that was started in 1926 is a joke of a failure? No its not a joke of failure because those who made the joke or the bad assumptions felt cheated because we haven’t learned the deep gist of the occasions. Of what it supposed to be. Yet, many years ago, I didn’t understood a lick of why black history month exists. But as I grew older and to appreciate the value of our summarizing our ancestors, and what is going on now, it has become to me a staple. More like a centerpiece celebration. I mean “every occasion” has a centerpiece.

2013 when Harley-Davidson was 110 years old. And the black community was almost left out, and yes even the late Polly Williams weighed in:

Recently up until the days and weeks before the start of the celebration, there was almost a concern. A concern about the African-American Community being left out of the celebration with nothing on the program. I read the Harley Bikers Guide courtesy of Visit Milwaukee, in which almost every organization or company had sponsored the event, but I didn’t see ANY representation of the African American Community that either was on the cover, nor in the ads! Come on, now! Just a thought that African-Americans do ride motorcycles, and are apart of the biker culture and network. But until recently, the organization of the MLK Street Jam folks have added a line up, vendors, and live music for the 110th. Originally, “The MLK Street Jam BBQ” was the name in the Black Community and yes 5 years ago, it was a listing among the Brady Street, and other Street Jams for the Harley Riders and non riders alike. I was listening to WNOV last Monday about the concern, and about the concern of the black bikers not having a connection for the 110th in which the black community, I think I may have heard that, in means of where to go, and having black businesses to engage the support of the event. Personally that almost hurt. Did some businesses or connections from H-D or Visit Milwaukee, ever talked to the Milwaukee black community, or those along MLK Jr. Drive about hosting a spot for the 110th Anniversary ahead of time? Did anyone who is African-American that works for H-D in the Greater Milwaukee Area asked those in the black community or inform of the 110th events beforehand? That is a question I want to know. Maybe Harley-Davidson needs to have Inner City Sessions on jobs, or outreach. Or have a parade to route along MLK Drive or Sherman Boulevard to Milwaukee’s Washington Park for a fellowship. I heard that portion on WNOV.

Just to add: in the days after this segment, Jammin’ 98.3 held a Iron Elite Black Biker Jam at Uihlein Soccer Park in which displayed the different motorcycles, vendors, The Kevin Hayden Trio Band and several famous faces like Willie G, whom we all know is a descendant of the company. And even film director, F. Gary Gray. Whom also did a special documentary of the Iron Elite and the history of the African American Harley-Davidson Riders. Food for thought. And no, it was not racist.

Elsa’s on the Park and the issue of racism and this was my “introduction” to The Forum in it’s inaugural year of 2012:

This story has been non-stop. Even on the radio has been non stop. This morning, I was listening to WNOV 860AM, and there is a new segment called “The Forum” with radio host Sherwin Hughes. By the way the radio station is now online at http://www.wnov860am.com; and as well on the radio. Plus you can listen to the station via the Apps on Android, Blackberry, and the I-Phone. “The Forum” is a hard hitting segment in which the topics of political, civil and many other issues that seem and gain the thought in the African-American Community; that will you will not find like on WTMJ or any other station that most don’t address issues like this in Milwaukee. Sherwin voiced his liberties in terms of the incident at Elsa’s as of what happened. Apparently, the information given was from of his close friends in which was the victim of the incident that took place. Sherwin and those like him will never set foot in a place that doesn’t feel “welcomed”. But he also said that there might be folks who would still support the establishment and spend their money! Hold up. Why would ANYONE would continue to support any organization or company that has or had bad experiences that dealt with racial problems concerning African-Americans and not everyone else?  It’s the same thing with Milwaukee’s clubs on the East Side. Some of them had negative experiences with black folks too, as in terms of not letting them in. If I was a customer per say, and this went down, GOODBYE! No more Elsa’s. Go somewhere that can be appreciative to me,and fair quality of service. Like Black-Owned Businesses. And for the record, I have some members in my family that do own, operate, coordinate, and direct their own businesses. And they’re African-American living in Milwaukee. Yes, I know that this experience is well “sensitive” to most, BUT it is a concern that must be addressed. Everyone around the country that knows about Milwaukee’s Segregation problems, I can them saying, “you need to talk!” NO MORE HIDING! It’s either “put up or shut up.”  We have too. Matter of fact, we Americans have to address this issue of race as well instead of running away to other cities and countries just to get away. I’m just saying.

2016: The year we lost Eric Von.

When the day of September 8th came when Eric’s death came up: it was like a shock. I kept reading my Facebook Newsfeeds to see if this was real. When you get those notices of a well known figure around your community that died, usually it’s a hoax via Social Media. BUT……this was no hoax. Eric Von really did die at his home in the Sherman Park Community. The next day, WNOV was really focused on him, his life and work. I was listening to his segment and The Forum and let me tell you: it was sad, but it was a time to celebrate him of what he brought to us over the years. No matter if it was his days at 1290, or WNOV. The callers kept calling the station to offer their condolences and sympathies. Even former 1290 Personalities that called in to do the same thing. And those that used to rival WNOV were also called in to equal the messages of those offering condolences. I will admit, it will be hard to replace him on the radio. But I think that with all of this, the WNOV Family; no, the remaining WNOV family will be fine. It will take time, but still will be fine.

Also with that, there was radio broadcast about Sherwin commentating about his then-health problems in terms of him going under an examination. Which also led him to get an colonoscopy. He was very expressive about his health in terms of what he had and was able to still do the show. In the lessons followed, yes he still addressed the medical issues that many of us in the African-American Community don’t go to the doctor. Specifically us African-American Men! This was an eye-opener and yes, I’ve been woken as well. It’s a life saving issue that many must not cover up nor ignore! Speaking of colonoscopies, the age limit for that, is still in the 50’s, but there might an age reduction to about 45 and up because now many of the those in that age range may have to get checked for that detection! Either way: GET SCREENED! I would say this to the men, but women you too! Of course you already know that.

Also in 2016: The aftermath of picking 45 and questioning whom to look next.

Sixth: I was listening to WNOV this morning. And there was question about who will represent the Black Community in the Trump era? Black folks: Look to our Senators, Our Congressmen or Congresswomen. Our Alderpersons, regional leaders whom are black. Here in Milwaukee: We got just to name a few, Senator Lena Taylor, State Representative Jason Fields, Congresswomen Gwen Moore, Alderwomen Chantia Lewis and Milele Coggs, Alderman Ashanti Hamilton, Alderman Khalif Rainey, Alderman Cavalier Johnson, Alderman Russell Stamper II, County Supervisors: Marcelia Nicholson, Supreme Moore Omokunde, and Willie Johnson Jr. And no, I’m not putting Sheriff David Clarke on the list because I think now we in the community are waking up with the real truth about him. He’s not what he says he is. He don’t qualify.  Other black leaders like Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Shelia Jackson-Lee, and other well known black officials must not be overlooked either that can be viable to represent.

Let’s see, another highlight I remember: Building an African American Community Center in 2013.

Let me go in on my home of Milwaukee for a bit. I have to blog about this story that is very dear and I think important to think about for the African Americans for our city. Recently this week, I was paying attention to Milwaukee Black Radio, namely WNOV about a comment of a potential (idea-wise) African Community Center. As many of us Black Milwaukeeans know it was supposed to be built near the Milwaukee County Transit System Headquarters, which is near 17th and Fond Du Lac, years back. But however it never got built. Many were and still asking why.

Just yesterday and today, I listened to WNOV’s Sherwin Hughes, with guests Mikel Holt, former Alderman Fred Gordon, and Troy Shaw,  and in a twist of that thought: It had something to do with that project and the Italian Community Center. From the commentary, one of the then-Milwaukee Alderman’s Mike D’Amato had a problem with that. In regarding that project of the African Community Center, that would give dilemmas for the Italian Community Center. Say what?!!! When you really think about that, Milwaukee has Community centers of the Irish, German, Mexican, LGBT, Spanish, Asian and Italian. But not a African Community Center, based on this absent minded thought? Really?

Now I know that others who are non-black and reading this blog and from the Greater Milwaukee Area are probably might come out and say, “Oh that racist! Why does he have to write that? We are all Americans. We should be equals.”  Oh Shut up! I’ve heard that so many times. I get it. Remember when I said that I’m embracing my African-American side, while expressing my slice of Americana? This is what I’m doing right now. I’m expressing my freedom of expression as an American, while honoring my African-American, or American of African decent laurels. Period. If WNOV’s “The Forum” can do it, so can I.

Just to clarify currently that the site of the former America’s Black Holocaust Museum that the late James Cameron founded was torn down, but as of this year on Juneteenth Day, it was resurrected in a new Museum with Apartments. It’s called “The Griot” and it sits near the corner of 4th and North Avenue in the same area. Hopefully this can be a new start of getting OUR African Community Center started up to educate, entertain, inform and summarize the news and happenings in the Black Community.

From last August: Confederate Monuments in Wisconsin.

Most recently, I was tuning into a radio broadcast of WNOV, yes the black station in Milwaukee. And it featured a story that had a Confederate monument in my homestate of Wisconsin. I’m not joking. You might be saying to yourself: WAIT, WHAT? Wisconsin had a Confederate Monument?! Really? Here is the featured story, from June of 2015. As we all know that Wisconsin was a Union state during the Civil War. Check out the site called “Iron Brigader”, or do a search called, “The Confederate Cemetery in Madison, Wisconsin”. I’m reading this article for the first time. And the thing that struck me out of the story was the fact that I had no idea, no iota that this existed in the state of Wisconsin. Never in my near 41 years living in the Badger State I knew that. The story summarizes that the use of the Cemetery was the burial place of the Union Soldiers that died in the Civil War. It also summarized that part of the Cemetery was known as “Confederate Rest” in which that 140 of the Confederate Soldiers whom were POW’s was buried in the area. Before that, majority of the Confederate Soldiers (approx. 1,000 plus) that were captured, were sent to Prairie Du Chien, and then to Madison. Many of them also were diagnosed with Measels, Mumps, Pneumonia, not enough food or medicine for the prisoners and many died because of it. Also some the prisoners were transported to Camp Randall (the same Camp Randall where the Wisconsin Badgers play on the UW-Madison Campus) for medications and supplies to receive treatments. Additional before Camp Randall was the house that many of the Big 10 feared, it was a training ground for the then Union Volunteer Soldiers during the Civil War. Now you wonder why Camp Randall Stadium is a “battleground” on Saturday afternoons! The story also summarized about a woman, Alice Waterman who was southern born that moved to the city to care for the Cemetery that housed the dead soldiers. She put her own financial needs to care for the graves and markers to maintain them. She is also buried at the cemetery towards the front of the site.

And to add, like other Confederate Monuments in America, that too was removed.

2014 when many got so “sensitive” about Black Milwaukee Radio. Like really?!

And check this: even Sheriff David Clarke had to call in and say “It’s David Clarke. Tone it down.”

I want to make a comment about this. I want to tell all the folks, the hyper sensitive folks something. Just my opinion: THIS WILL NOT BE TONED DOWN ON ANY FRONTS! NONE! Many times I said that Milwaukee is the most segregated city in America. That is a fact. Even if those live in the North Shore area gonna learn today. Obviously, most are afraid. They are scared. When I listening to the entire 3 hours, Sherwin had made strong references that many agreed about the understanding of black and white citizens. Even a black Vietnam Veteran! Where’s Sheriff Clarke on that? No where. Where are those who had to gall to call the station, after not what they want to hear based on strong and TRUE references? I said this on the MyFoxMilwaukee blogs that many will get mad when the truth comes out. Even if an owner gets all hyped negatively about a McDonald’s harboring Drugs and Mary Jane!

Speaking of Toning Down: Where is the “Toning down” of prevention of drugs in businesses?

  • Where is the toning down of high unemployment among African Americans IN Milwaukee? WHERE YOU AT CONSERVATIVES?!!!!!!
  • Where is the toning down of admitting the fact that this region and state is still segregated? And having Transportation issues of getting to the jobs? Hello, folks!
  • Where is the toning down of preventing teen pregnancy, not being in the poor category IN Milwaukee? EXCUSE ME?!!!!!
  • Where is the Toning Down of Drugs being going into the suburbs and while many get off easy, but hard in the larger metro areas?
  • WHERE IS THE TONING DOWN of the so-called others who thought that a school like Malcolm X shouldn’t be an Community Center after it was legally PASSED by MPS?!!
  • Where is the toning down on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Comment folks who blast things that they don’t and get a freaking pass? Such as one JSOnline commenter at one time had talked about that an officer should have punched Jeanine Tracy harder while being handcuffed in a squad car!
  • Where is the toning down on these Conservatives Radio folks like Mark Belling who labeled Derek Williams a thug after being handcuffed in the back of a squad car? Couldn’t breath in all. Neck broken. And died on the scene.
  • Where is the toning down of the Hilton Garden Inn, and Alderman Bob Bauman, about the accusations of black nightlife like 618 on Water, and many other clubs that mostly cater to African-Americans,and Urban Hip Hop Music?!!!  And having those NOT LIVING in Milwaukee had to jump in? UM, EXCUSE ME?!!!
  • Where is the toning down of the State of Wisconsin that is getting sued by Talgo because of the refusal of the High Speed Rail project, that many of the leeches of the Tea Party Wisconsin based, plus Scott Walker shutting it down? Hmmmmm………don’t see it here!

What’s up with that? Milwaukee County Residents?!!!!! You all getting all hyper sensitive about a black man’s strong truthful reference, and don’t want to admit it. Folks like Sheriff David Clarke needs to understand that he is going to get talked about. Period. I mean, if various folks can talk about Chris Abele, Tom Barrett, Scott Walker, Senator Lena Taylor, or any other official, so Clarke is off the list? REALLY?! But if Sherwin is wrong of what he said about him, maybe the second black Democratic (but mostly REPUBLICAN supportive) Sheriff needs to be a man about it and defend his record!

And what about being “Church Hurt?” From this year in January!

Last week on the first Friday of the year, I listened to WNOV’s The Forum Program. And the full 3 hours of the program was about those who have been “church hurt”, or being hurt by the church. It was based on the article that some folks read (mainly younger black folks) about the reasons why they don’t attend church. And I’ll bet it came from those who haven’t been there. It also featured those whom have had history in the church ranging from bishops, ministers, and members whom have those vivid memories but mostly it was NEGATIVE! As I was listening to the program, it was coming from those who say it was a scam, the black church don’t allow the LGBT no love, and other negative factors. Oh the issue of money was conversed. I want those being effect by this “church hurt” thing to hear me out on this. Yes, there are pastors, bishops, deacons, and many other church leaders that did things negatively on the value of money. Yes, it’s true. BUT: don’t assume that it’s all of the Churches! Not all the churches are about MONEY. Not all of the church are about kicking out the LGBT. Not all the Churches are about the erasing the thought of supporting young folks. Not all churches are about hating on someone who is in need of coming in to keep warm from the freezing cold! Not all CHURCHES are the same! WAKE UP! If that were the case, I wouldn’t be in church now! I’m sorry you’ve been hurt. Church hurt. But many of you members who haven’t been to any the services in a minute, and you’re complaining, why haven’t you come forward? Ok, maybe you have been working. Raising families. Taking care of a senior person. Or sat out and did nothing. And you complain. If you complain and not attended the services, you need to go! If you are on the membership roll that haven’t been at the services, meetings, events, activities or there special outings to support or donate, then you need to retool and revise your membership! Hate to say that.
Don’t always assume that the church is ALL evil. What is evil is being put or driven by those who spoil the bunch. That is EVIL! Hell, I wouldn’t stepped into a 4th Generation family tradition that I wouldn’t be able to work, earn scholarships, utilized groups (both men and women), photograph archives, record sermons and still raised almost 28 years later! That’s right, this June will be my Church Anniversary of coming in as a full member through conformation class. That’s a joy. And that’s positive. And the Church NEEDS MORE POSITIVE OUTLOOKS! Not just hearing the music or the sermons. And also the biggest issue that many have against the church besides the money and pastor, is when we get done hearing the sermons, we go out to eat to Red Lobster or a local restaurant. Church folks got to eat too! There are 168 hours in week. The Average hours on a Sunday morning Worship Service is like what, 2 hours? So in those two hours of Church, we go to the restaurant and chow down for about 1 hour or so. And we go home. BUT THE WORSHIP WORK in the week goes on. It goes on at your job. Your community centers. Your activities of recreation, homes, the elderly, Your Sorority, Fraternity, Veterans Groups, Peace Groups, Activism, Alumni Associations, etc. Even when you help folks to Vote! That is your Worship Work in the continuation of the Church! Think about that. If many more folks in Milwaukee who were listening to that broadcast would actually get it, they would actually get it. I know some understand.
I say this mainly to Milwaukee. After all, it was a Milwaukee Black Radio broadcast of WNOV that commented on this. We know what the host said. We know what the guests said. And we know that. But look here: it’s not perfect. Many of you go to clubs on Saturday Night, partying in all. Being catered. Which is nothing wrong at all. But also, like the church at times, there are members of the clubs whom can be hypocritical of the DJ, the clothes, the set up, the bar, the drinks, the food, the parking, and the security. Just like your jobs, groups and etc. You don’t hear me! We’re trying. We know it’s hard. After all, being a Christian or a every Sunday church person is not just happenstance. It’s a hard job. Period. But with God’s grace, we’re up for the challenge.
Amen.

These are just a sampling of the highlights while listening to the program for those 3 hours. And 6 years. And the things I mentioned here, serves as a lesson to engage and take it out to the world and educate our minds and thoughts about the concerns and joys per se to commence. A lot of this, I do credit “The Forum” for allowing me to express my viewpoints here and summarize them to all of you. Mainly for those whom haven’t been to Milwaukee or have not seen Milwaukee in ages! And to think that, it was not a surprise in coming. And the host has seen this blog before, so I say to that thank you!

However, why I talked about this? It goes all the way back to February 2012, when there was a rally on King Drive in about “We stand for our men for Jobs”. The very same rally that former Wisconsin State Rep Elizabeth Coggs formed. And the guest MC you asked? Homer Blow. He also expressed that morning about that we must continue to tell about what’s going on in Milwaukee. If we take pictures, blog (like I’m doing now) or whatever, this is what we have to do. So I’ve been doing this since 2005 by doing this blogging thing that may not be noticeable. But based on this and the good highlights I’ve written about in the past, my voice along with my brain, is paying attention. If this blog had not existed, I wouldn’t be telling this now. Not about anything that pertains to Milwaukee or Black America. That would be in the interests of the Newspapers or journals that rely on the sources all the time. But what happens when the sources don’t get to the source we want? That is why that blogs like this and many others need to fill in the gaps of what we know to continue the conversation. As I said before, this is not for a job thing, this is a personal thing. And the personal thing to me is to help correct the wrongs that I went through growing up to be added on to the masses of research and homework assignments. And yes, WordPress camps.

The guests over the years comprised of politicians, business owners, activists, educators, historians, young men and women, Gen X’ers, Baby Boomers, Millennials, and organizers all stopped by to lend their viewpoints of the subjects at hand. Even guests like Officer Jack, a former MPD Police Officer that gave the audience about scenarios in regarding police work and also what to do regarding law enforcement and the understanding the law. Former Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Darienne Driver (who recently resigned this year) was on the show usually on the first Fridays of the month that gave us statuses about the conditions and happenings in the Schools.  Others from Mary Burke to Lena Taylor, to Gwen Moore, and to Mahlon Mitchell, same thing. Speaking of Mary Burke that many didn’t realized that when she was campaigning for Governor (and later lost to Scott Walker)  she appeared on the show more times than any other Republican Representative. Even more than Scott Walker whom have not appeared once. Something should have told you there. And yes, even the former Sheriff David Clarke stopped through as well wearing a Trump Shirt. The callers you asked? They ranged from everyday folks that know the city very well, even a black Marine Corps Veteran that the host ALWAYS acknowledges every time!

So guess what, black people and those others wanting to know? “The Forum” was only the spoke on the wheel. But, there is so much work to be done. Even telling our stories continuously. You will not hear this from WISN 1130 or 620 WTMJ. Or any other progressive format. Nope, not here! Not happening! Oh, by the way: for those of us that couldn’t get past the emptiness of The Forum, the show recorded 832 segments in it’s 1,000+ shows. Check out The Fourm 860’s Website for all the references.

By now, many of us have had our Halloween Decorations looking so-so scary. We decorated our houses and community centers so spooky that we need to change the game for next year in Halloween 2018. Which we have to do before we vote in the Midterms. And yes, we had to put up our costumes on wax to think again about next year as well. Plus I had a costume that I had to sample from my father’s work wear to pay tribute to him.

BUT………I have to address my black Kings and Queens in regarding this thing of Halloween, Christians, Ebony Magazine, and certain thing about “Pagan Holidays”. Let me go in on my people. Even though I love my blackness, honor my ancestors and also fly the red, black and green in the heart like the red white and blue. I’m reading the article online from Ebony Magazine (via Facebook)  the latest one that had an article with Meagan Good dressed like Catwoman. Oh, by now that everyone knows, she married a pastor earlier this year per se and many questioned about her choice celebrating All Hallow’s Eve in a FREAKING COSTUME! Really?!

Then I went to this BallersAlert Instagram Page. And when I was view the page in term of Meagan Good doing her, all these comments mainly coming from those whom are considered “Christian” and being black and proud had this remorse of shaming her just because she’s a Christian celebrating this “so-called” scary evil holiday known as Halloween.

For all of my black readers whom think they know everything about Halloween or having this negative stat of pagan holidays: SPELL IT! Spell Pagan. Let me school you on this: Do you know what Halloween really means? It really means Comes from the adage of All Hallow’s Eve in which leads into a holiday called All Saint’s Day. Heard of All Saint’s Day? You should! If you called out a name, or remembered a person that recently passed, that is part of it! If you go to church, you have should have heard the thought about All Saints Day, PERIOD! But what does that have to do with Halloween? Part of that is another meaning that you probably never got the knowledge of: Holy Evening.  THAT IS WHAT HALLOWEEN REALLY MEANS! It’s a HOLY EVENING.

According to Wikipedia: As you should know –

The word Halloween or Hallowe’en dates to about 1745 and is of Christian origin. The word “Hallowe’en” means “hallowed evening” or “holy evening”. It comes from a Scottish term for All Hallows’ Eve (the evening before All Hallows’ Day). In Scots, the word “eve” is even, and this is contracted to e’en or een. Over time, (All) Hallow(s) E(v)en evolved into Hallowe’en. Although the phrase “All Hallows'” is found in Old English “All Hallows’ Eve” is itself not seen until 1556.

Oh wait, there’s more for you Christians:

Christian influence (via Wikipedia)

Today’s Halloween customs are also thought to have been influenced by Christian dogma and practices derived from it. Halloween is the evening before the Christian holy days of All Hallows’ Day (also known as All Saints’ or Hallowmas) on 1 November and All Souls’ Day on 2 November, thus giving the holiday on 31 October the full name of All Hallows’ Eve (meaning the evening before All Hallows’ Day).[69] Since the time of the early Church,[70] major feasts in Christianity (such as Christmas, Easter and Pentecost) had vigils that began the night before, as did the feast of All Hallows’.[71] These three days are collectively called Allhallowtide and are a time for honoring the saints and praying for the recently departed souls who have yet to reach Heaven. Commemorations of all saints and martyrs were held by several churches on various dates, mostly in springtime.[72] In 609, Pope Boniface IV re-dedicated the Pantheon in Rome to “St Mary and all martyrs” on 13 May. This was the same date as Lemuria, an ancient Roman festival of the dead, and the same date as the commemoration of all saints in Edessa in the time of Ephrem.[73]
The feast of All Hallows’, on its current date in the Western Church, may be traced to Pope Gregory III’s (731–741) founding of an oratory in St Peter’s for the relics “of the holy apostles and of all saints, martyrs and confessors”.[74][75] In 835, All Hallows’ Day was officially switched to 1 November, the same date as Samhain, at the behest of Pope Gregory IV.[76] Some suggest this was due to Celtic influence, while others suggest it was a Germanic idea,[76] although it is claimed that both Germanic and Celtic-speaking peoples commemorated the dead at the beginning of winter.[77] They may have seen it as the most fitting time to do so, as it is a time of ‘dying’ in nature.[76][77] It is also suggested that the change was made on the “practical grounds that Rome in summer could not accommodate the great number of pilgrims who flocked to it”, and perhaps because of public health considerations regarding Roman Fever – a disease that claimed a number of lives during the sultry summers of the region.[78]

By the end of the 12th century they had become holy days of obligation across Europe and involved such traditions as ringing church bells for the souls in purgatory. In addition, “it was customary for criers dressed in black to parade the streets, ringing a bell of mournful sound and calling on all good Christians to remember the poor souls.”[80] “Souling”, the custom of baking and sharing soul cakes for all christened souls,[81] has been suggested as the origin of trick-or-treating.[82] The custom dates back at least as far as the 15th century[83] and was found in parts of England, Flanders, Germany and Austria.[53] Groups of poor people, often children, would go door-to-door during Allhallowtide, collecting soul cakes, in exchange for praying for the dead, especially the souls of the givers’ friends and relatives.[83][84][85] Soul cakes would also be offered for the souls themselves to eat,[53] or the ‘soulers’ would act as their representatives.[86] As with the Lenten tradition of hot cross buns, Allhallowtide soul cakes were often marked with a cross, indicating that they were baked as alms.[87] Shakespeare mentions souling in his comedy The Two Gentlemen of Verona (1593).[88] On the custom of wearing costumes, Christian minister Prince Sorie Conteh wrote: “It was traditionally believed that the souls of the departed wandered the earth until All Saints’ Day, and All Hallows’ Eve provided one last chance for the dead to gain vengeance on their enemies before moving to the next world. In order to avoid being recognized by any soul that might be seeking such vengeance, people would don masks or costumes to disguise their identities”.[89]
It is claimed that in the Middle Ages, churches that were too poor to display the relics of martyred saints at Allhallowtide let parishioners dress up as saints instead.[90][91] Some Christians continue to observe this custom at Halloween today.[92] Lesley Bannatyne believes this could have been a Christianization of an earlier pagan custom.[93] While souling, Christians would carry with them “lanterns made of hollowed-out turnips”.[94] It has been suggested that the carved jack-o’-lantern, a popular symbol of Halloween, originally represented the souls of the dead.[95] On Halloween, in medieval Europe, fires served a dual purpose, being lit to guide returning souls to the homes of their families, as well as to deflect demons from haunting sincere Christian folk.[96][97] Households in Austria, England and Ireland often had “candles burning in every room to guide the souls back to visit their earthly homes”. These were known as “soul lights”.[98][99][100] Many Christians in mainland Europe, especially in France, believed “that once a year, on Hallowe’en, the dead of the churchyards rose for one wild, hideous carnival” known as the danse macabre, which has often been depicted in church decoration.[101]
Christopher Allmand and Rosamond McKitterick write in The New Cambridge Medieval History that “Christians were moved by the sight of the Infant Jesus playing on his mother’s knee; their hearts were touched by the Pietà; and patron saints reassured them by their presence. But, all the while, the danse macabre urged them not to forget the end of all earthly things.”[102] This danse macabre was enacted at village pageants and at court masques, with people “dressing up as corpses from various strata of society”, and may have been the origin of modern-day Halloween costume parties.[94][103][91][104]
In parts of Britain, these customs came under attack during the Reformation as some Protestants berated purgatory as a “popish” doctrine incompatible with their notion of predestination. Thus, for some Nonconformist Protestants, the theology of All Hallows’ Eve was redefined; without the doctrine of purgatory, “the returning souls cannot be journeying from Purgatory on their way to Heaven, as Catholics frequently believe and assert. Instead, the so-called ghosts are thought to be in actuality evil spirits. As such they are threatening.”[99] Other Protestants maintained belief in an intermediate state, known as Hades (Bosom of Abraham),[105] and continued to observe the original customs, especially souling, candlelit processions and the ringing of church bells in memory of the dead.[69][106]
Mark Donnelly, a professor of medieval archæology, and historian Daniel Diehl, with regard to the evil spirits, on Halloween, write that “barns and homes were blessed to protect people and livestock from the effect of witches, who were believed to accompany the malignant spirits as they traveled the earth.”[107] In the 19th century, in some rural parts of England, families gathered on hills on the night of All Hallows’ Eve. One held a bunch of burning straw on a pitchfork while the rest knelt around him in a circle, praying for the souls of relatives and friends until the flames went out. This was known as teen’lay.[108] The rising popularity of Guy Fawkes Night (5 November) from 1605 onward, saw many Halloween traditions appropriated by that holiday instead, and Halloween’s popularity waned in Britain, with the noteworthy exception of Scotland.[109] There and in Ireland, they had been celebrating Samhain and Halloween since at least the early Middle Ages, and the Scottish kirk took a more pragmatic approach to Halloween, seeing it as important to the life cycle and rites of passage of communities and thus ensuring its survival in the country.[109]
In France, some Christian families, on the night of All Hallows’ Eve, prayed beside the graves of their loved ones, setting down dishes full of milk for them.[98] On Halloween, in Italy, some families left a large meal out for ghosts of their passed relatives, before they departed for church services.[110] In Spain, on this night, special pastries are baked, known as “bones of the holy” (Spanish: Huesos de Santo) and put them on the graves of the churchyard, a practice that continues to this day.[111]

Makes sense now? Keywords: HOLY EVENING!

Now from my understanding that the Holy Evening Holiday may have some pagan roots. Halloween has some pagan connections but it’s not entirely EVIL! When folk think of “Pagan Holidays” they think it’s something that is demonic or trickery. REALLY? Not all holidays are “Pagan Holidays.” If your wedding or a loved ones funeral is considered a “Pagan Holiday” filled with evil or demonic implications, then I guess you haven’t been to one. Or you don’t know enough! That is the problem today, why do many feel (espcially in the black community) that pagan holidays are evil, knowing that there are some “Pagan Holidays” are good? You got Christmas coming up in celebrating the Birth of Jesus, and many folks are calling that being a “Pagan Holiday”: Many of you got it all twisted. Not all Pagan Holidays are evil .

CALLOUT:  Is Juneteenth Day a Pagan Holiday?

Is many of our holidays that we started (KWANZAA) is considered a Pagan Holiday?

Is waving the Red Black and Green on Marcus Garvey’s Birthday or any BLACK HOLIDAY is considered a Pagan Holiday? Oh, you don’t hear me.

Why I am saying this? Why I am calling out the gossiperes to this manner? Real simple, LACK OF KNOWLEDGE! That is what this is. All that so called opinons that man of you spilled on Social Media makes no sense at all. And I’m assuming that BallerAlert wanted your reaction. They really don’t care about it. Just to make money and hurt your feelings.

Despite what Meagan Good does in her spare time should not be a concern on anyone. Even Black Christians! Now I’m a Black Christian myself and I do celebrate and decorate the Holy Evening thing of Halloween on my house. And don’t come at me with all that “pagan holiday opinionized mess” that black christians shouldn’t be celebrating this holiday. That goes double for the non-church folk! If any christian celebrates Halloween without any harm or concern, it shouldn’t be a problem! Many of us need to reread the Lord’s Prayer featuring the words: Hallowed be thy name. The Keyword is Hallowed. That word again.

Learn it.

Black Folks, it’s just Halloween. Chill out!

Oh yes. Is this mic still on?

Of course it is. Many have now realized that the Lakewood Church in Houston is having lots of company in which those whom are still in need of shelter, clothing, food and many other needs that those are displaced. And Houston, I must say again that many are us in prayer that you will recover and revive your community. And yes many of us don’t know jack about what you’re going through with the flooding from the Hurricane but just assure that many of us got your back with donations, support, inspriration, and many other needs. So yes Houston, we got you.

Now again, it’s time to go back to the thing of hating on the cloth. Pastors. Lots of us already know that the Lakewood Church in Houston, the same church that many of you critics hammered on that wouldn’t open up. And having some claims that it wasn’t flooded. Yeah that one. The same one that opened up and did what they had to do and many folks (non-believers and believers) had to still comment about Osteen not doing it sooner. Look, I don’t know how Lakewood Church operates, and neither do you or I. They don’t operate like the smaller churches like our grandparents and great grandparents went to years ago before many of us were born. Again, WE DON’T KNOW SH*T! We don’t. Stop playing.

I want everyone to view this video clip from Facebook. This minister, Chad E. Brown had a whole lot to say in regarding churches, the concerns, and what many are not saying after the bashing of Joel Osteen. Again, I’m not a fan of his work. But I’m a fair minded person that has to give the other side a chance to respond.

Did you hear what he had to say? I’m asking again: did you HEAR what he said? Don’t act like you know. Oh, the phrase he used the words: “Stupid People!” And personally, I don’t blame him. It’s the actions and reactions. The same stuff many that commented on. Oh yes, many of you got guilt written all because of this man’s stance with his church being all closed up. No I am not defending him. What I am defending is something that many of you NEVER commented on: Safety. The first thing you wake up in the morning: Safety. The next thing you do when going to work or school: Safety. The next thing when you take your breaks/lunch or whatever: SAFETY, and BEFORE you go to bed and set your alarm: SAFETY! Now if the idea of Osteen’s church opened up when all the floors were wet in all the folks he would let in would be at risk. Ok, so Osteen said that he could have been more aware ahead of time. He could have. He could have done that idea.

In the winter of 2014 there was an email blast put out on our lists, in regarding severe weather. This was a wind chill weather factor that happened in Wisconsin and at the time, the Wisconsin Conference of the United Methodist Church sent us this message:

Weather Precautions Advised; Shelters May Be Needed
Wisconsin needs to be ready for a dangerous blast of arctic air that will be moving into the state on Sunday and persisting through Tuesday. Meteorologists are predicting lows Sunday night of -10 to -25 with wind chills at -40 or lower. Monday, highs will reach only -5 to -15 with wind chills remaining in the -30 to -40 range.

Church leaders, please take a few moments to read over some health and safety tips from the State of Wisconsin here and here. Some churches may be asked to provide shelter to those who may be facing problems during this bout of very severe and dangerous weather. Your local news station will have the most current information on conditions in your area.

In addition, the Sun Prairie Conference Center will be closed on Monday.

This message, again came from the headquarters of the Wisconsin United Methodist Churches in Sun Prairie ahead of the Wind Chill on a Friday BEFORE the weather happened in January of 2014. And yes I remember putting this same message out on Facebook to inform my audience about that yes, some churches were available to be open for those whom want to keep warm and etc. WE WERE WELL INFORMED! And of course there are those who will complain and piss about Churches in general being negative after you survived  4 to 8 years without providing YOUR ideas to the table or to the Pastor. HELLO! No wonder we got some weak minded folks who just left with doing nothing. Oh yes, I’m not talking about those who actually are trying. I’m talking about those who gave up and complain! In my “Church Experience” of 27 years as of this year of 2017, I went through the ups and downs and been criticized in all, BUT I AM STILL THERE doing my part! Now I’m an officer and have a head position of Social Media under the Communications and doing what I like every week. I have been call out for Tweeting in church like every week, but I still do it anyway every time! And I’ve been a employee of the church since 2007 for 10 YEARS! And in the 10 years, I didn’t just work, but I also participated in meetings, took notes, went on field trips for note taking for administrative needs. So yes, I’m doing my part instead of moaning and groaning for doing nothing!

But like the pastor said in the video that he (Pastor Joel Osteen) had a family to look after first to make sure that they are ok. No matter what happens: FAMILY ALWAYS COMES FIRST! Period. No matter what religion or being mixed up with the consciousness being all free thinking and yes you will have the folks will say the mess that you would not believe. I KNOW. And here’s the thing, it’s not just those outside of the church, but also in the church too. Whereas not just on SOCIAL MEDIA, but also away from social media. And not just on the job, but also outside of the work of those long hours for that one paycheck! Somebody say amen! And I don’t care if you went to the same Schools, Colleges, joined up a fraternity, sorority or whatever. There are those who will say whatever in a negative sense no matter what group or organization you belong too. Of course there are those whom are going to say, “Oh you know it’s freedom of speech! It’s the truth, duh!” However, you need to watch your words. That tongue thing is mighty wicked at times.

Now I’ll know that many of you got booted off of someone’s Facebook timeline or lists all because of someone’s wicked feelings about a certain pastor or a certain time when the church was really popping but popping out of order. You left. You posted your feelings of hate and guilt towards others whom probably are still members  who have the faith and beliefs. And also the others gain the defense of the beliefs. They get ticked off and you make the move to remove them all because they follow the likes of Creflo Dollar, Joyce Meyer,  or Jimmy Swaggart. REALLY?! You had those “good folks”,  on your contacts but you let them go all because of a certain pastor or bishop or evangelist they follow or gain support. Maybe you should have been booted off the Island! I think I know the reason why. Your mind and words say one thing, but your eyes says something else. And that something else is fear. Be honest.

When I was a youth member at the New St. James Community Church UMC (or St. James United Methodist Church) in Milwaukee, we were passing around flyers in the neighborhood of 24th and Keefe for an upcoming summer program. We did all the houses back then and of course some of the neighbors at the time were yelling and nearly cussing at us youth folks all because of informing the neighborhood about the church’s program. This was in the late 80’s or early 90’s. And again I was a youth member. I do remember telling my mother about the incident and it was discussed. Look we were in our youth teen days back then and I wasn’t as defensive minded then. Now I am. What I’m getting at is this, fear and misunderstanding can be a mess. And many folks know it. Even you know it from being messed with on Social Media. I don’t blame the technology set up of Social Media of people’s problems. That rests on the folks who use it in a negative fashion! Just like a credit card. Or the Telephone. And for you hyper consciousness folks even you also can use your tongues of pride in a negative sense too!

I dare someone say that on Facebook. Go ahead. Some will agree, some won’t. But when it comes to these knowledgeable things per se, that will change. And I know that many don’t want to hear it. BUT THEY KNOW IS SO TRUE! Just like when many say, “Oh Joel Osteen should have opened his doors.” False narrative! The truth: he didn’t have the doors closed. Plus also the blame could be put on the City of Houston for not giving that distinct order to get the ball rolling for this. So point the fingers on that.

I did a scenario on Facebook about buildings being inaccessible. And insurance plus liability. And when I was doing the example, it brought me back to the days of my Industrial Management Distance Education Homework Assignments of UW-Stout.  And I shared that same experience of Homework with my Church because there some concerns of Safety Clearances that had to be cleared up from my lessons in the classroom. Many you so-called church experts who lambasted on Facebook need to check yourselves. Go to school and learn Occupational Safety. And even if the building had wet floors, that too can be a health concern hazard. Why? When water seeps into buildings or homes, it’s dirty. We don’t know what might be in that water that made it murky. But after all that water would get pumped out, it leaves behind mold and dirty on the floor, the walls and yes carpets! The smell of that will be harmful and yes THAT is a health risk! And you want the folks to go into the church with that going on? When Pastor Osteen said something about safety concerns, THIS came to mind! Hate the notion all you want but the thing is the building should have been check out before anyone or anybody should have walked in! Church folks: have some of your members take these Occupational Safety classes or workshops at your colleges or universities. I want to suggest this!

Folks: ministers are regular people. We may think we have them to fight all the mess by themselves, but it’s more than just them fighting the system. It takes a team effort to do it. And plus I knew PASTORS (even though it’s United Methodists) that had been bullied, attacked all because of their stance of ministry. And usually the most came from the former members. And some non-members too! And District Superintendents who oversees circuit ministries. I kid you not! And sometimes Bishops don’t even care also at times.

I felt a need to say this more because, coming from a person who has a sibling that went though ministry: I get it. And no I’m not a pastor. And I get what the minister said on the video because in some instances I get what he’s saying also.

Again: if you haven’t done so, donate and pray for Houston. Even if you don’t have family there but hey do it anyway.

For all of my readers in Houston: Stay strong. We know what’s going on with the situtation with Hurricane Harvey. I know many of you had lost homes, or couldn’t recover things that were damaged or irreplacable. We all know. If that were to happen in Milwaukee, you would do the same for us. So Houston: as well as my family folks in Texas, we will keep you in prayer and thoughts as you recover from the Hurricane. As I said the night of my father’s wake: Stay in the fight!

Now: I’m going to shift gears here and talk about false prophets and false info that can be a contagious bug. (dont’ worry I’ll talk about Michael The Black Man next) Yesterday as we were reading about the Hurricane in Texas, and seeing all the flooding that has plagued the city of Houston and the surrounding areas. Yes we manily had that reactionary thought about “Oh we need to pray for our folks in Houston…” And like many of you, I got relatives and friends in Texas that are residing in the state now. Mostly from Milwaukee. And yes, they are happy that they found something or somewhere to live. That’s them. But as I was reading about the Lakewood Church in Houston, many had to go in about Joel Osteen and this story about his church not opening up, all about the money, he don’t care about your feelings and many of the “myths” that many had to bring up about his situtaion and his church. Oh, and lumping all the Churches and Christians in a big lump of being hyprocites, and well: stuck up. That same story over and over again on Social Media that had folks all in this uproar. Now for all of the Joel Osteen fans outhere, I ‘m not a fan nor a follower of Joel Osteen. Never have been. Not willing to try. Never bought his books, his website downloads, never watched his tele-evagelist stuff on TV. By the way I’m not a fan of Televangaelist anyway.

While all this story about his church was being flooded or somewhat wet, many had to call him a liar, and pupit pimp or many other names I can’t even say here. But many of us who don’t live in Houston or never paid attention to his material, WE DONT KNOW SH*T. We don’t! Many of us had to lay claim that he is just like many other the preachers who get infront of the congregations every Sunday to preach the word, are thinking all about the money after being collected in the plates and taking it to the banks.

Well to all of my non-believers in Christ: What else do you know? I can wait.

In an updated story that Joel Osteen stated that he never closed his doors. And did state that his church will be open for those who need a place to recover. So when I read that statement, I had to ask where all this overreaction came from, especially from those who are NON-BELIEVERS who are not so very informative when it comes to stories of being heard from other people that they assume it’s true. People let’s cut the BS right now! For all of the non-belivers who think that all churches and pastors are in this lump pot of hypocrites: stop it.  Not many of us who are church weekly attendees are like that. Many of you know us way back since sunday school and choir practice that were positive folks. And many of us still have that today. So why are YOU worried about the church opening doors that you haven’t tried since you left?! And futhermore, your connections at the clubs or joints that you spend on Saturday nights and you know who they are, what are they doing? Are they helping? It’s kind of funny many talk smack about Church but actually mentions them when disaster strikes.

SPEAKIING OF THAT: UMCOR. Heard of that? That stands for United Methodist Church on Relief. And this is part of my demonation at work. When I said disaster strikes, this organization doesn’t just preach the word, they act on it! No matter if it’s dealing wtih damages of Earthquakes, flooding, Hurricanes, Tornados or any other disaster. They are on it to support from loading supplies to grants.  They have been in business since 1940 and still helping out.  Many of the volunteers (according to the video) are UMC Members, UMC Personal Staff,  UMC Connections and etc. They also understand that the proceess of recovery takes time. And UMCOR is still with the folks that are still with the folks with needs. So technically they are still in the game and not leaving the bench. UMCOR is the real deal. And I should say this is what we, in the United Methodist are called to do. We can also Rethink Church to make us relevant, but this by no means is not just about rethinking, but redoing what we’ve were assigned and called to do.

So with that being said: for all you non-believers who think that all churches or church connections don’t do enough or all about the money to the bank, or with us going out after eat after worship an all that: let me sink this in.

There are those who PLAY church and there are those who DO church.

And part of the assumption of the hyprocrites that plagues with the Christians or false teachings does NOT APPLY TO ALL. You know what else is considered false teachings: anyone can do this. Even you non-church folks do this everyday on Social Media – False Stories. False information! Yeah you do it too! And even at times journalists can be corrected too.

Whether you like or hate Joel Osteen or any other Minister, Bishop, Apostle, or whatever, even a Church Secretary like me, if you hear some false info about whatever you read everyday and you believe that source is credited properly, I ask this: what did the main person say? What did the main person say in all this? I don’t want to read about what some conscious person thinks online WITHOUT CREDIBILITY! Folks if you want to read the real shiznit, read the real SHIZNIT. Post that with credibility! Don’t always assume the obvious that oh…..that’s what they said. Who is “the they?” The so-called HOTEPS?! I have to say that they too can spread some false info too! Let that sink in! And many of you follow the acts of per se of folks were or are afraid to hear about God’s Work at Work. But when disaster strikes, folks run to the church for help. And you just criticized them for being false prophets from the pulpit getting all that money! If I went to you for help and I’m a good dude that does good work, would you do it?

Pray for Houston folks. And at the same time, give yourself a prayer because you just never know.

And for those who want to help Houston in a UMCOR sense, here is their website on how you can donate or contribute.

For the 4 nights, the History Channel has been showing the revamped and still traditional version of Roots. The still saga of Alex Haley’s novel that has been read by generations of folks. If you are so way younger than me, you might not know what I’m talking about. Go to the library, or Amazon, or B&N Bookstore to get the book. Oh while you’re at it, buy the DVD’s.

For the four nights, we’ve seen all four parts of this thing, and even though that this wasn’t the original that came out after the year of my birth, the story of parallels with Kunta Kinte, Kizzy, Chicken George and others had not left. Us older cats we know the story like clockwork. Many of us can relate in some sort of way of the heartbreak of slavery, being separated from families, and being shackled, branded, whipped, controlled and many other horrible actions. We already know. But some of us, needed a constant reminder that these words of “The Struggle Continues”.  Does that ring a bell?

Now there are those had to argue that this reboot is not necessary. No need for it. But then again there are those feel is necessary because when the original came out, you millennials weren’t born! Sorry to say it. But now since you’ve gotten your firepower and advice from us proud Generation X Folks, you also have to be advised of this stuff is.  Some of you probably got the message. But others, have you?

I really hope that this “Roots Reboot” or the second format has you on your thinking skills that it’s not all glamour and glitzy. Many of our people had through pain and discomfort and split up from the ashes. This is no romance novel! This is a lesson that probably needed to be retold to every generation of black folks. Like what our grandparents and your great great greats have done for years! Don’t trip on this.

Now I know that many don’t like the reboot. Particularly one individual in mind: Snoop Dogg. Don’t get me wrong, I may like some of his swagger, and his younger cousin Sasha Banks is a great Women’s Wrestler, but here is one thing I have to say that his “opinionated commentary”, was for the birds.

Look here, you got a guy here had females with dog collars on for a show, blunts, gang past, making porn for flicks, oh don’t forget that when Pac and Suge Knight were examined after Las Vegas, everyone was like 20 years ago: Snoop better watch himself! This was way after Death Row records was very examined. Even after Tupac’s death.

But his recent rant is about the Roots reboot, and making a statement of protest. And some are saying that he’s thinking what everyone is thinking. All over Facebook and Social Media, I see this alot: WE’RE TIRED OF SLAVE MOVIES!!!!

CALLOUT: I need to ask and excuse my French: Who in the hell is WE?!! WE Who?!

I’m not on this so called “we” bandwagon here.

And alot of folks went after Roland Martin the way he after Snoop. If you missed what he said, go on his Twitter Time Line, or his Facebook Page. And folks called him a Coon. Wow black folks. I think the reason being, because Roland told the truth. Speaking of that, check this. Please check this!

In the words of Homer Simpson: “And that is that.”

Or was it? Some of the critics had to pop off at the mouth. Again!

And all the folks kept talking about these Hidden Colors movies that came out. Personally, I have not seen not one Hidden Colors movie documentary or whatever you call it. From what I’ve heard, it supposed to be this real truth documentary about what the history books or religion, or historical aspects didn’t tell you growing up. Are there other Black documentaries that tell you that?

Everybody on Facebook and Instagram or Twitter  is like: “watch Hidden Colors!” Or “Hidden Colors is the truth!”

Really?

If Hidden Colors is supposed to be this “truth of black viewpoints”, and if so vital, who funds the movie rights? Who funds “Hidden Colors” to be this “truth teller?”  And if “Hidden Colors is so cool right now, where I can I find it on Cable or Satellite? Like IFC? or some Independent Channel? Or matter of fact, has the AMC or Marcus Theaters, Black Owned Theaters, or a Budget Theater ever have SHOWN “Hidden Colors?” Don’t worry I’ll wait! Bring it.

The way folks parading around Hidden Colors online like a mean switch off the tree. That to me is like I’m being forced to watch it. Don’t call me a hater! For all you “Hidden Colors” fanatics that thrive on the flicks, I have an open REAL challenge for you: Provide me a CLEAR, CONCISE, and REAL SUMMARY about why I should watch it. Don’t give all the ghetto/slang opinionated thoughts! I’m too grown for that. Be real about it. Beat by beat. That is your homework assignment!

Everybody in the Black Community is saying like:

We are tired of slave movies!

I don’t hear the Jewish folks saying they are tired of the Holocaust. What do they say? Never forget. Sound familiar? I don’t hear none of our Chinese brothers and sisters hollering at what happened in June of 1989. Let me paint a picture for this: Tiananmen Square. Remember that? When that protest happened, and that one dude got ran over by a tank in Beijing? Hmm…….no complaints about that being forgotten. Everyone else has had problems with some sort of human erradication has never forgotten the pain nor feeling about the incidents. Even though it has not happened to them per se.

But when it come to our Black Concerns of Slavery or Black Dilemma, we’ve been told to forget about it. Get over it. Or in this case with Snoop: “F-Roots!” “F-Slavery!” “We need to show the positive stuff of what is going on with our people now!” I hate to say with all due resepct to Calvin Broadus, although it’s vital we need to show our black folks all the positive stories, WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET WHAT GOT US HERE! EVEN if it’s lynchings, slavery, racism, sexism or many other isms that is indeed slavery related! Paritially in the mini series, there were some Africans that did captured the folks and put them on the ships. Bet folks didn’t see that.

Again: same slogan of complaint, “We are tired of slave movies!” Guess what I’m tired of? Let me count the ways.

  • I’m tired of folks whom look like me being the enemy.
  • I’m tired of black women at times saying that all black men at Sh…..You know I don’t use that word.

  • I’m tired of those who feel to have this “High School Attitude” that they think they are still fresh like high school. Won’t work honey!
  • I’m tired of the Extroverted folks ALWAYS getting on the case of the Introverted being quiet. And having to apologize for it.
  • I’m tired of white folks telling black folks to “get over it.” When the talk of slavery happens. WHY?
  • I’m tired of the almost 70% black women that are still single with a mean streak of saying there are no good black men.
  • I’m tired of folks telling black folks that we aren’t enough. WE ARE ENOUGH!
  • I’m tired of folks who pass up their lineage of history. Family History. Am I right black folks? We do it to ourselves sometimes!
  • I’m tired of companies passing up applicants whom got all the credentials the right way, then hired the young hot chick or dude with NO EXPERIENCE!
  • I’m tired of companies who don’t accept new talent but make it harder for those to apply!
  • I’m tired of companies that don’t retain as much for seasoned vets that wants to learn and become viable! Like learning new technology over 40 without being kicked off.
  • I’m tired of companies judging folks because of their credit reports!
  • I’m tired of these job developers telling folks “you better not come back here if you can’t find a job” like 2004. Remember that Milwaukee Urban League?!
  • I’m tired that single folks are getting the shock treatment of pressured being married.
  • I’m tired of the old school traditional folks, thinking that distance education doesn’t work. It worked for me!
  • I’m tired of looking at all the bad stats about Milwaukee on Facebook. Um, what is the solution?! I’ll wait!
  • I’m tired of folks who don’t vote.
  • I’m tired of Scott Walker and the republicans coming up with all these stupid laws to get us afraid.
  • I’m tired of companies that don’t hire, or train, or retain African-American workers.
  • I’m tired of the folks saying the chruch is full of hyprocrites. Have you checked your hangouts and jobs for hyprocrites? They got them too!
  • I’m tired of all these Carjackings in Milwaukee now. Everytime I hear about these stories, reminds me of my late cousin Adrian Drew being killed all over again!
  • I’m tired of these Animal Activists praising the memory of Harambe the Gorilla, but not the child that was not harmed.
  • I’m tired of all the talk and no bark!
  • I’m tired of all this stuff that single folks are lonely. We’re not!
  • I’m tired of phone numbers calling you and they are scamming your money!
  • I’m tired of folks whom should feel about looking at the movies that it’s all flashy.
  • I’m tired of all the mess that our schools/colleges are getting into.
  • I’m tired of all the mess that churches have to deal with. And I’m not talking about the what goes on the inside!
  • I’m tired of those who think that Black Lives Matter is a farce.
  • I’m tired of fake memes on social media that makes no sense. I went there!
  • I’m tired of all the mess that neighborhoods and cities that must deal with violence and break ins!
  • I’m tired what I can’t watch and read in my own home, but I’ll do it anyway.
  • I’m tired of collection agencies harrasing folks for money.
  • I’m tired of family members putting you down and thinking you’re sensitive!
  • And the lasting thing I’m tired of: no love for ourselves. Yeah I said it!

That is what I’m tired of!

Even the devil getting busy in our minds to corrupt our communites!

Shall I go on?

Like my mother used to say I’ll give you something to cry about! Many are tired of all the slave movies. But I’m tired too. Of something else. Learn that, Snoop fans.

Folks have been saying also: what about the movies before slavery? You all better get onboard. I’ll bet many have been saying that for a long time. Which is nothing new. And I’ll bet there is a director, or producer, or writer that is somewhat is getting ideas to write about someone from that era that was before slavery. So is this will make thousands happy? Or in this case, will this be satisfied? Or better yet will all those whom are VERY CONSCIOUS will finally put their MONEY where their mouths are to support?

I got five words for that: Put up or Shut up!

Got it?

Fa’ Shizzle!
