Posts Tagged ‘Young Black Males’

I’m sure that many have heard on Sunday that rap artist and entrepreneur Nipsey Hussle was killed in his native South Central Los Angeles at 33 years old. When many have heard about this, as we all know, this was a crucial shock to many in his community and yet, the Black Community. What Nipsey Hussle was killed for a reason was in terms of jealousy, hatred and all out just a flat out mess just because many are saying that he gave back to his native neighborhood and community. And he was a black man and a father that wanted to get things straight. Of course when we heard about the status of young black male dying early, due to homicide, suicides and genocides, we usually get concerned but we hardly never address the ideals when it becomes very serious. I’m saying this because it’s the truth. How many young black males have been shot dead over some mess exactly how many times? How many times we have read about young black males getting killed early in life before starting a family or in the process building a family, wealth and great opportunities? Did Nipey Hussle’s life mattered like many black lives have been mattered for a long time? It should! Only exception it wasn’t due to the police, it was due to a man who had a beef with him.

We talk about saving our black girls or protect the black women. What about the black men? What about DEFEND THE BLACK MALE ALL TIMES? I don’t see that on no T-Shirts, Hats, or anything that is printed and motivational materials that matters to us every time! Tell me I’m wrong. The black women call for protection. The black man has to demand for defense. Offense may win the glory, but DEFENSE wins the game. It wins championships. We should know this like right now. And the black man should not be underestimated of anything. The only thing that keeps a flaw on them handy is the stereotype. A simple stereotype that many knows all too well in getting that point of embarrassment. Why do young black males die early?!

I know it’s not Men’s Health Month, but this is anyday. In the 1990’s there was a question was asked which group of folks die quickly or getting killed more often? Answer: YOUNG BLACK MALES! Now for my Millennial readers who think I’m talking about them, guess what I’m not. If you are 45 and under reading this, and if you’re an African-American Male chances are you are an endangered species. That’s the truth. This has been going on since forever. Way before #BlackLivesMatter was even a thing or a statement. This was like dealing with Suicides, Homicides and maybe Genocides. Now the thing is in regarding Nipsey Hussle, that was a straight up homicide. And it took someone from he knew to did the job of shooting him 6 times: 5 times to the torso, one time to the head. Almost Military Execution style. And the lasting thing that Nipsey did before he was shot dead unexpectedly, was helping someone out in need. That’s right. Doing the right thing for someone that was bigger than him! And what was the problem or issue that Eric Holder or his street name, “S-word (can’t say S**ty) Cuz” did, again killed him.

Now I’ve been hearing from those around that he was killed or planned to be killed was about Dr. Sebi’s medical info in regarding cures and health needs. I’m sure many have heard about Dr. Sebi, and his medical connections with the late Left Eye from TLC before she died in Honduras. And yet we still if that had to do something with his connections with Nipsey’s passing. Many are calling it a conspiracy of killing him because of that promotion. I need to see ALL THE FACTS on this. ALL F’S! Not assumptions from your Social Media Circles or groups that still are on the Conspiracy Tip. You know who they are. Always talking Conspiracy all day everyday. Get off of that. If they are not showing enough substance of their story, you need to check them. Straight up! Obviously, at times we get way ahead of ourselves. And yet on the subject, when one black man kills another black man, that’s not on the police or the white man. That is on US black folks! And yet I hate to say in conversely that if a black woman kills a black man over some mess, (and it has happened a lot in relationships and such) it squarely falls on the black woman doing the crime. I’m just being realistic and REAL about this. And we wonder why folks do this. Is it the music, the lifestyle, the persona, the attitude that is passed down from generation to generation, the DNA, or is it just society’s fault?  Or maybe if it’s the fault of Eric Holder’s father not being his life that could have straighten him out?! Yeah I said it!

Steve Harvey said something on his show recently. I had to pull this from Youtube:

And also, DL Hughley commented this on his show on TV One:

They both commented about folks who are killing our tomorrows. Killing our tomorrows today. And many folks alike are starting to recite this. Many in our community are losing our tomorrows to suicides, hate, greed and many other negative factors that we see today. Even in the era of 45 that really doesn’t care about the black folks like Nipsey.

I know also that many are asking the question, what is it going to take? What is it going to take for young black men to stop being targets? Even when in our own Communities? Truthfully there are no real answers in this. However it’s going to take BLACK FOLKS to get at the black boys EVERYDAY since day one to get homed not to let the streets tell them what is real and what is not. Actively, the rules of holding boys and girls must stop. What I mean is when girls per se are growing up they are always held close. But when the boys are around, usually they are “let go” and roam and usually comeback. Just let them go, as they say. I know that many have been asking, what about the black organizations of helping out our Black Boys or Black Men who feel endangered, or any of the Black Fraternities or better yet what about the Black Churches? Like D.L. Hughley said in his clip that the reason why the Black Churches are kept open, because the Black Women are PRAYING. Really praying for their fathers, sons, husbands, and etc. It’s not all about those so-called dollars in the collection plate and that white Jesus. And yet while the black churches are open, what are the black men in the building are doing to curb this violence? This question needs to be asked yet again in the community. Now I don’t have any young black boys in my house. I don’t count. But as a citizen, that part is a question that needs to come into light that should be able to curb the violence against young black men. Yeah, we got all these programs, but what are we doing to curb them to counter violence?! Even the community organizations in neighborhoods, what are they doing?

This is trauma at it’s worst. Matter of fact, it’s Trauma period. And it riddles the mind over and over again. You get tired of hearing presentations about them, but when this happens in our communities, we go back think like, “oh so and so or what’s his name said this last year and I thought it was gibberish”. Well who’s gibberish now? In the coming days, there will be ongoing tributes to Nipsey or should I say under his real name: Ermias Asghedom. And as we or many gather to remember him in the coming days, yes we have to keep in mind that his family is the ones that are grieving the most. They lost their son and brother. Maybe a cousin or close friend. Let’s also keep in mind that yes he had some gang related backgrounds, but knowing some like Nipsey he had to grow out of that. Let us also be reminded that he ran his own business in the city:

Keep in mind also, he built this business in the city where he was born in, and the area of the neighborhood he was brought up. So yes, Nipsey (unlike many who just oversight) remembered where he came from.

And to add: The struggle as well as the Marathon DOES INDEED continue!
