Just today, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel launched a new site called Tap Milwaukee. It is a site that you can access, view, or preview the acts or entertainment that the Brew City has to offer. Especially Music. Now, if you are into Hip-Hop,  Local, and in Milwaukee, you already should know that usually that it gets overlooked alot. Ask anyone. But today I heard about twelve songs on the site and I must say that I am impressed. Now, I giving mad respect now because of the talent that is overlooked the most in this town – Hip-Hop. Now, to some, shouldn’t be a big deal. But if you are a fan of Hip Hop and local, and have been commenting that Milwaukee lacks in Hip-Hop because of being labeled as a hater for the whole city then well, it’s time to wake up.

Hear me out when I say this. Milwaukee needs to wake up for real. Just recently there was a Salt-N-Pepa tour here recently, and I happen to stumble onto the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s article about the event. It displayed that the artists were vets like Kool Moe Dee, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick and Naughty By Nature. But the reporter of the article was on the whiny side stating that the artist were “faded”. Ok, so that’s the journalist’s opinion. But if that reporter or journalist would have done the initiative, he (or she) would have asked those after the show of their opinion. Most of those I think were my age in the early 30’s and 40’s. Where was their opinions in the article? No, not the blogger comments! I’m talking about the actual comments from those who thought were pleased with the performances. I heard that Milwaukee DJ Doc B was in attendance on stage, after being shot outside of a nightspot! Where was his comments? I’m like (finger snap) hello! That is what I want to read about. Or view the patrons on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Video Website. I hope that individual is reading this, however maybe not.

Now getting back to my point. I’m glad after so many complaints, and so many labeled comments about Milwaukee being a hater of Hip-Hop Music, I think it’s time that yes the city should recognize it’s own talent, but specifically with Hip-Hop Music. There is nothing wrong with listening to well known hip hop artists or seeing hip hop acts like The Roots, or Ludacris. But if you never heard of Hip-Hop artists like: Coo-Coo Cal, AUTOmatic, Raze, JC Poppe, Josiah Williams, The Hollows, and Kinto Sol, and live in the Ill Mil? You’re sleeping or you just don’t have the time. But if you just separate yourself from the norm, you might give it a chance for once. Forget about going on Fox6’s Real Milwaukee, but Tap Milwaukee has found an idea that should be suitable to sit and hear about local talent that has been overlooked. And also I hope that it might attract other local hip hop artists just to get a chance for those to listen, learn and just accept it just for what it is.

Milwaukee, it’s time to stop hating. It’s time to start to appreciate what these artists are bringing up in the music game right now. If you can get crunk with Prophetic and Pizzle’s Green and Yellow song when the Packers won the Super Bowl, why not this? By the way, they are local.

Ok Tap Milwaukee, you get a pass from me. But can it get a pass from the local hip-hop fans or hip-hop alike? Only time will tell.
