Ok WordPress, here it is. Another four way stop on the blog that everybody knows. Well mostly everyone will know. For this, I will be commenting about Straight Outta Compton Talgo, the GOP race for 2016, and Scott Walker with the issue, or lack there of the topic of black lives matter.

First stop is the most obvious of Straight Outta Compton.

I will say this if many have not checked out the movie, I would say this, take a chance. Now I know there are those who may not check out the movie based on concern, or based on the fact that yes, N.W.A had their run ins with the law and the obvious then-disrespect of Black Women. Me on the other hand, I liked the movie for this reason: I wanted to see the many angles that the group had to go though that elevated the game of “Reality Rap” or those like to call it “Gangsta Rap” per say. Of course, they had their angles, and they said F**k the Police, in their songs and albums. The real reason, and this for those who are well aware about the history, is one major factor: Police Harassment. Did anyone who wasn’t aware about this in the beginning are now aware about this now? The same style of Police Harassment that we see today, is what N.W.A experienced earlier on. Dang, I gave part of the movie away! But anyone who is a historian of the group knows this very well. And what did they do after they got harassed is a simple one, they rhymed about it. Rhymed about the actions and concerns that many had to sleep on. And then grown folks had to turn off thinking it was rubbish and offensive to well productive cops. But it’s not rubbish until it happens to you. And when the sheet hits the fan, you’ll know. When I look at any biopic of those of a N.W.A, or the Notorious BIG, I’m not just looking at the music. I’m look at the stages, the climax, the rising and falling actions and a conclusion that ends the story. Matter of fact, I look at that in all films that I see. So technically I’m not just looking at the rise to fame. Which is part of the story. I’m looking at the beginning, the middle and ending of all of this. Also, there are those who say, “Anyone above 30 year or older knows about this. We don’t have to see the movie!”

Well……….not so fast!

Sometimes we need to have those refresher things that get our minds to review or summarize. Many my age approaching 40, or at 40, or after 40,  knows about the hits and hustle, which is understandable. BUT SOMETIMES, and I hear my mother saying this now, we have to go back and review what we learned. That is how I feel about N.W.A. There were some things about the group that I didn’t even know. But I’m pleased that I got that refresher! I’m no HardCore Gangsta/Reality Rap fan per sey, but I do understand what they’re saying. Even if it does cutting through the Explicit Content.  And by the way, the theater where I was seeing the flick: NO GUN SHOTS!

Second stop: Wisconsin: You should have kept the Trains!

Oh Wisconsin, I kept telling you since 2010: I’ve told you so! And how many times had that sunk in? Like what, a million times?! And that hadn’t sunk in yet? All of that so-called mess about boondoggles and no one will ride it mess? Remember that? Well guess what, all of that will indeed continue to haunt Wisconsin for dear life! I wrote an apology letter to Talgo via this blog and well, it went something like this:

This is our fault for not backing this up fully. And I don’t know how this would get this over in terms of our valor.  First, I fault our so-called Wisconsin values. I fault that in addition with our polarized politics mainly with Scott Walker, the Republicans of the state, and mostly with those who jumped aboard the bandwagon of spoiled selfish politics that could been better in terms of helping the Wisconsin folks of our unemployment woes. Our black unemployment population is still at around 50% and the area near 27th and Townsend once housed your company was a good idea. And in history, it had GREAT PRODUCTIVE JOBS!  A.O. Smith was a great company. And I don’t care what some so-called citizen thought it could have been. But it was a unfinished opportunity due to the ignorance and stupidity of this state! The deal was to me was perfect. And it should have been thought of the future of Infrastructure of Transportation to go where the jobs are. Milwaukee and Madison should have been linked up with Chicago, Minneapolis and St. Paul. Plus also Detroit.  I can’t fault the other cities or states. But the real fault is in Scott Walker’s hands and he knows it. And after all of that being signed a done deal by former Gov. Jim Doyle.

And I remember writing this:

Now this announcement of you leaving the City is disappointing. And most of us know it’s our fault. As a native of the state, I too take the blame. However, for those who were opposed to the project, probably got their wish that it’s a boondoggle and it’s another way of run away government spending. They claim that no one will ride it and it’s too expensive. The same folks in my opinion that said that, are just bigoted fools that don’t want folks like me roll through their part of the state based on my skin color. And other minorities too. What I mean by that is, there are those in Wisconsin that things “segregated”. Even though also this is a black eye in our state, and a black eye in the vision of President Barack Obama. Why I am putting the President in this? It was part of his idea of putting folks to work with the shovel ready jobs. Don’t believe me? one of our radio stations, 860AM WNOV talks about this all the time. And the question will restart yet again, how and will this create jobs? And the obvious, where are the jobs that I can get to without a car in the state?

Not everyone in Wisconsin doesn’t have a vehicle, citizens!  Tell that to the Governor and Republicans of the state!

And this:

And the lamest comments: “Sorry about the jobs, and bye bye choo-choo train!”  Really lame along with Walker’s imaginary 250,000 jobs that he pointed to be objective in his first run. But now, he is not fully committed with that notion. Right now, the jobs report in Wisconsin is still low! And also who wants to come to Wisconsin and put jobs in the Century City District, in the city of Milwaukee and mostly in the areas in Milwaukee THAT FOLKS CAN BE SUPPORTED in the area? Not Waukesha, Not anywhere else where the white flight happens to go. Just in the area where it’s needed. If the so-called Wisconsinites who talked smacked about the train jobs, then why didn’t they supported the workers of Talgo by staying and working with them? And I met the workers two years ago. Ignorance is bliss when you know it.

We already know that the state will be jacked up with later fees, taxes and losses. Plus your on- going lawsuit against the state is still intact. I say do it. You have every right to do so. And I’m saying this as a resident.

If this is one of those “Teachable Moments” to learn from, it is. But the state of the Badgers will be suffering from it the most.

Now, do we remember? Yes that letter. And I did indicate that the company had a right to sue the state in part of the breach of contract. That should have been a deal signed for the use of jobs and economics, but all of that was RIPPED away by dumb politics. And I should say also ongoing segregation, too? Does that ring a bell? Well in regarding the penalty, the Milwaukee Business Journal reports this penalty that the State will owe, plus a potential Milwaukee to Chicago Route:

Under the agreement, Talgo will keep the two trains it built for the state of Wisconsin, and receive a $9.75 million payment from the state to close out the contract, said Lester Pines, attorney for Talgo. Talgo will attempt to sell the trains, and the state can collect a portion of the revenue from that sale to recoup up to $9.75 million, he said.

Also there is a history that this matters. The article does point out as well:

The conflict goes back to a contract for Talgo to manufacture and maintain over 20 years four trains for Wisconsin. The Spanish company agreed to set up its U.S. manufacturing operations in Milwaukee. Wisconsin canceled the order for two trains that were intended to run a high-speed passenger rail route between Milwaukee and Madison.
Conflicts arose after Wisconsin canceled the order for two trains, and refused to build a maintenance facility for two that were built. Those two were intended to run on the Amtrak Hiawatha route between Milwaukee and Chicago.

Talgo filed the lawsuit in late 2012 against Gov. Scott Walker and Transportation Secretary Mark Gottlieb. There was a dispute over the contract, and over whether Talgo or the state of Wisconsin actually owned the two trains.
Talgo claimed $65.9 million in damages over its contract with the state. Even with the settlement, it will never recover losses from Wisconsin not following through on the 20-year maintenance agreement for those two trains, Pines said. Talgo had priced the trains expecting to get that 20 years of maintenance work, he said.

And the article concluded with the settlement that must be exchanged in merit:

The disputes between Talgo and the state resulted in the two never changing hands. Talgo in May 2014 rolled the trains out of Milwaukee, ending the company’s operations in the city. They remain in storage in northern Indiana, Pines said. With the lawsuit cleared up, Talgo can now advance efforts to sell them, potentially to another state, for passenger service.

Wisconsin, under the settlement agreement, can collect up to 30 percent of the price of their sale, not counting any costs Talgo takes on to prepare the vehicles for sale and close the deal, Pines said. Depending on the final sale price, the state can collect up to $9.75 million, which represents its final payment owed to Talgo under the manufacturing contract.

See Wisconsin: I’ve said it all along, but I told you so. Instead of being big-headed and gullible with the segregated view politics, you should have kept the trains, and the ORIGINAL route of the Madison-Milwaukee High Speed Line as it was. But this is what you get! If the next generation of Wisconsinites get screwed up in a future plan, they might go back and ask what was up with 2010? And I’ll tell them here that Our so-called Values of political mess got us in a heap of trouble. And we paid the price for it. And partially it was not allowed by then-Governor Scott Walker. Doyle had it right after all!

Third dance: Let’s talk clowns. GOP Clowns.

Oh, I won’t be long here. This will not take long. Anyone seen this GOP Clown Cars of Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Scott Walker, and many others who are continuously making fools of themselves for the 2016 Republican side? I know I’m not the only one. The majority of the folks in the race is talking out of his mind the most, is Donald Trump. Think about it!  He didn’t say all the things he’s saying when he was running before. Maybe because the black guy Obama got in the second time. But now, we’re seeing for who he really is, yeah he’s exercising his liberties, but he’s doing it in a fashion that is giving the gift that the Democrats would probably get.

And yes, he’s talking. But will all that talk even last? I say that because the more he’s TALKING, the less he’s doing. That is what Donald Trump is doing, NOW! Right at the moment he’s just opening a new can of worms that are just full of hot air. OF COURSE we still got problems in America. We still got problems with Education being in the areas of 25 or 23. There are those like him want wars! We’ve gone through about 10+ years in Afghanistan/Iraq and they want to bring this crap again? And like before, how is this going to create more jobs? The last republican President, which really SUCKED: George W. Bush, shipped jobs overseas. And dried up America’s Credit Card. Um, does that ring a bell?

If “The Donald” loses his talk, he will lose big. Mark my words.

Finally on the Card: Scott Walker does not have time for #BlackLivesMatter. (So he says)

I read this today via Rawstory.com. And United Wisconsin of Facebook. It appears that the Governor does not like black people. Or should I say, black concerns. For all you black republicans and Walker fans in Wisconsin, and those whom proudly voted for him, you might want to read this commentary story.

The article pretty states itself that even the man who took down unions, put a cancellation on High Speed Rail, put a cancellation on the Hard Rock Cafe Casino Project, put a break and halt on Teachers, medical care, close off anything that the working poor that have access constantly, and many others that WIsconsin held dear for most of the time. Remember that State of the State Address when he had all those workers and not one, NOT ONE person of color was on that state? Not one black nurse or black doctor that wasn’t shown! Oh, when was the last time that Scott Walker was in the BLACK COMMUNITY addressing the needs of Black Residents? May I remind that Wisconsin does have black folks around 6%. Plus when the 2014 campaigns were going on, for the black side, Mary Burke was on WNOV over 4 times talking to the black listeners during the time. Walker: ZERO! None!

Can bust a J. Cole lyric right now in a Edited Version: “He don’t give a F-word about you!”

The same notion that he gave when he closed off the Bus Routes and raised bus fares that many folks needed to get to work and school during his County Executive days. And forcing the Voter ID’s to make it harder for those to cast a freaking ballot!  And to top on that, we supposed to be “Open For Business”. Apparently his business is flourishing money away to other states and not investing it here to serves the needs for US. And majority of us here in the Southeastern part of the State are Black folks!

Making sense now?

Like i said, the real purpose movement of #BlackLivesMatter is not going away. The concerns of Black America IS NOT GOING AWAY! Of course, there are those who get behind a movement for two weeks and then, it’s all forgotten about. This is where it needs to stop. The concerns must be on course. Even if it’s in the heart of Milwaukee or Madison. And even if it’s shows up at Scott Walker’s front door.

Yes, I know Scott Walker has black friends. But he, like many others like him are just in denial. That’s right I said it!

First Take: Let it begin.

I assume that every American in the country is taking notes of the Presidential Candidates to be, either the highly Republican choices of 16 to the Democrats ratio of 5. We know this. It’s been racking up for a while to do one thing: Either continue the path that President Obama set with his plans already in tact, or try to dismantle his policies and to go back to the era where the Republicans did before and spent American money, and going to debt. But there has been one X-Factor that ALL of them must be on watch for, and it’s a needed attention:

The attention of the Black Lives Matter Movement.

Yeah, that movement. The movement that has been and still is gaining notice. You can’t deny it. This black lives matter movement is getting very serious and mostly, the Presidential Candidates NEED TO TAKE NOTICE NOW! For far too long, yes we the African-American Race of folks had our concerns (at a Maximum) that does not get heard, or talked about. And of course, we should be vocal about them all the time! We should be very vocal about this matter. And I know that the other side, and those who somewhat oppose the latter of Black Lives Matter, need to realize it’s not just making noise in front of the likes of Bernie Sanders or Martin O’Malley. Or even going on Scott Walker’s Social Media Page and flashing #BLACKLIVESMATTER all over it. It’s really about the activism that goes on with it. From the good, bad and downright ugly. All of this resurgence has been on the vocal front of the 1 year Anniversary of the death of Michael Brown Jr, whom was killed by the former cop, Darren Wilson who still has hiding places somewhere not to be shown. Yeah I said it! Even after a year, there are folks who are still defending him just because he did his job. REALLY?!. Plus that and the recent death of Sandra Bland, the issue of Black Lives Matter is not going out like a lamb.

Oh, yes. There are those, and those whom are black, are going to say “well All Lives Matter.” They can just shut their mouths now. I have a question about that: Do All Lives Really Matter? I mean do they really? Did lives mattered 70 years ago, when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? What about 9/11 with about 3,000 of everyday citizens that was killed in the old WTC? Oh, explain that Americans that care that All Lives Matter! Now I know that I can’t compare the two, but here it’s like the 9/11 was more of an International/National concern, than a Black Lives Concern. And for the record, there were about 12 African American NY Firefighters that died in saving lives on 9/11, and I ask: did their lives mattered being black? Just asking.

More recently, we all saw this:

And this:

By the way, this woman who was one of the first to interupt Bernie Sanders used to be on the side of Sarah Palin. And is an outspoken Christian and etc, etc etc, plus black. I’m sure many know by now…..Plus a former Tea Party supporter. Yes, there are Black Tea Party folks which stick to the wrong side of history per say.

Now I know many are sick and tired of this whole Black Lives Matter thing. Look here, when you or anyone that hears about those being wrongfully denied, or killed, or discriminated of any manner, and they are black, you know darn well that this is the part of the BLM movement that does matter. And the attention does not matter who you are! Everyone is going to hear it, no matter if it’s Donald Trump, Ben Carson (who really needs to WAKE UP!), Scott Walker, Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz and the other Republican Candidates. And yes this does goes the same with the Democratic/Independent party contenders also! This does not mean that the ideal matter of Black Lives Matter is going to be a mush. And it shouldn’t be! And IT BETTER NOT BE!

Second Take: This made the Milwaukee News recently. And I’m sure that you may have seen it. (Just a side note, Graphic words are included, be advised)

Now many around America had to be like SERIOUSLY! What has Milwaukee done now? Even this made the “Worldstar” Headlines on their website. Yes, this same motorcycle footage in Milwaukee recently, made the controversial and reactionary, Worldstar website. Now many have been looking at it in shock and awe. Mainly with the Milwaukee Cop swerving back and forth in the squad car. From my perspective, and I’m going to say this, both sides are a fault! Let me tell you why this is. When a Cop Car is swerving back and forth like that, with the lights flashing, it’s a sign that the officer is trying to get whatever emergency or response in route and he (assuming it’s a he) was trying to pass. Which somewhat caused one of the bikers to loose control. BUT here is the other thing and question: WHY DID NOT one of the bikers, OR SEVERAL BIKERS did not pull over?!

Folks, when squad cars, or Ambulances, or Fire Trucks, turn on their lights with the sirens blaring, you need to pull your butts over and let them pass! That is the law! I don’t care if you are a biker, trucker, the UPS Guy, FedEX Driver, or the up and coming Uber Church Van Driver, or any other driver, when you hear the siren, PULL OVER! Why is that so hard for folks who got a Class D or M, Licence? No matter if you are a Milwaukee Biker or an Out of Towner Biker, when the sirens blare, pull over and stop!

If some of the bikers actually done that there wouldn’t be no accident and mainly, none of the bikers wouldn’t get out and cuss at the officer and attempting to go postal. That would get you in the slammer! Don’t do that.

Driving must be restored with common sense!  And the same common sense MUST be planted in every single mind now!

It has been so long since I’ve written a double take. For this notion I’m bringing it back to the game.

First Take: Serena Williams.

I’m going to say that yes it’s been awhile since anyone black in tennis has won something big. And that someone is Compton’s own, Serena Williams winning the tennis competition in Wimbledon. She has become the latest in the list to be the winner in the all around Tennis competition since Steffi Graf in the 1980’s. Yes, for those who don’t know I heard of Steffi Graf thank you. And through all her success, and along with Venus, she has elevated the game of tennis to a whole new level of sports competition.

But after all the wins in all, there has to be a group of haters always had to body shame her physique. First of all, what is the haps about this “Body Shaming”? Really? I’ll bet the right wing folks had to go in on her about her physique to think she took steroids in all. Um….no! I think it’s all about the hate that a black woman winning the sport of TENNIS in a white dominated competition to achieve success. Personally, this has NOTHING to do with her body appearance. I’ll admit, Serena looks good for who she is. And is a fierce competitor. But this shaming thing is just that: hate. Are these the same folks who were all out about the transformation of Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner? Yeah, where are those folks at?! But I know what you’re saying, don’t compare the two. They are not the same. You darn right they are not the same! Hate on one person, liking the other! Does that sound a thing called perpetrators? You know what, this whole body shaming thing is like, you don’t like her or his body because it’s not like them. Folks have been body shaming folks since forever. Folks used to bother me back in my middle school days all because I had a big nose. That used to make me upset. Almost like bullying. I can’t help the fact that yes I have a slightly larger nose, simply because it’s part of my genetics. What your mama and daddy gave you, there was nothing you can do about it!  You can’t help it! It’s in you for life.

This whole bullying, body shaming is all nothing but feeling insecure about that person don’t have it all. It sort of like back then when the “jocks” or “ballers” or “player” had all the cute sides, while the nerds and those felt left out had to scratch and claw just to be like them! And they got picked by these insecure jack***es who were just ignorant!

You got folks today doing this mess? No surprise.

One of these days, when we all get old, gray, can’t go to the bathroom much, having canes to walk, in the nursing homes having stuff delivered to us instead of us doing the opposite, all of that will disappear! Your good looks will not save you! But your faith will. Some folks think that, man this black blogger is crazy. In the words of Bruno Mars, “Don’t believe me just watch!” And yes you could or do exercises to keep your body toned up. The mindset of these folks who do the “body shaming” are probably the same folks who are your friends from Social Media, your workers, your bosses, your teachers, that banker that gives you the side eye, and I’ll say those you probably looked up to in church, or some made up activist that somewhat knows everything, but they really don’t. Or some news guy or woman that had to open their mouths and being hateful all because they worked hard for achieving a feat. Where there are those who are just sitting around mad at the world. My advice, get up off your butt and actually do something to benefit your life. Can I sample this from last time: “Get your life!”

Now the second take: Scott Walker is running for President.

Oh, I’m sure everybody in America had seen the footage about Wisconsin. No it’s not the Milwaukee Bucks and the new Arena deal. It’s about the still, not very likeable, right winged republican, Koch brother hand picked player, high speed rail hating, no casino deal refusing, education hating Scott Walker!

Yes. I’m going there.

I said it many times I don’t like nor favor Scott Walker. I haven’t favored him since he was Milwaukee County Executive. Never!

And yesterday in the Red County of Waukesha, he made his decree of running for President of the United States. First: let’s review why Scott Walker is bad for business. Hush right wingers!

image

Oh wait there’s more. Courtesy of the Wisconsin College Democrats:

And this one:

This is only a few, but there are others out there that say the exact same thing.

Most recently, a black democrat was recently turned away from the event. And apparently, in a unorthodox manner. One of my Wisconsin State Reps, and Alum of my old high school, Mandela Barnes attempted to attend Walker’s announcement, but however, he commented this on his Facebook Page:

So I go to the Scott Walker rally, and as soon as I get in the door, a volunteer zeroes in on me to ask if I was alone and if I would like to stand on-stage. Now this could have been my moment for comedic/ironic gold, but I kindly declined. Then a few minutes later, I was pointed out by a staff person who recognized who I was and asked me to leave. I went from the top to the bottom before I even knew it. I was like a sore thumb and it brought about two distinctly different interactions, lol.

Wait?…….WHAT?!

Matter of fact why I’m saying wait what? So the Republican Volunteers of Scott Walker’s rally scoped out Mandela thinking he would be on stage with the supporters, in which he kindly opt out. But then, one of the Staff individuals, asked him to leave?  – That last part baffles me. Why would anyone from Walker’s rally turn away a Wisconsin State Rep? SERIOUSLY?! Some say it’s the recall thing, or maybe because he’s black. I looked at some of the footage, and the majority of the crowd at the Waukesha Expo Center, are majority white folks. How many blacks? Probably a few. Yes there are black republicans in Wisconsin. But probably a few. Why is that many asked? Think about it!

NBC Black (a subdivision for NBC) highlighted three questions that many African-Americans might be asking Scott Walker. Note to them, you might want to rethink that. This dude of a Governor has dismantled things that most the public and poor relied on every single time. From his County Executive Days, there were access to areas of senior centers, parks and even the MCTS that Walker cut that many need to get to the jobs, etc. Majority of that, were black folks. Second, remember when indicated that Talgo moved out of Milwaukee after Walker got elected, and the Spanish Train Maker wanted to commit to build trains and house their facility in the Inner City near 27th and Townsend! That was supposed to be shovel ready. But the majority of the voters, fans and even Walker himself all said no. It’s a boondoggle. It will never work they said. That’s a load of bull. It was really a call sign to say, “we are revoking opportunity for black workers in the area.” Oh yes, I’m going there! That would have linked this state along with others in a Midwest Connecting hub for jobs, tourism, etc. WASTED WITH POLITICAL MESS! He also had revoked and refused to accept an offer from the Hard Rock Casino groups that would have turned the old Dairyland Greyhound Track around. But that was gone not to be forgotten. And now most recently there has been a rule about taking away weekends. As in you work on Saturdays and Sundays with no rest in all. NO REALLY!

Is this the kind of guy YOU want to support for President? Here me out Americans, no matter what Scott Walker is selling, DO NOT EVEN TRYING TO BUY! I am saying this as a warning. Now some might look at him as this cool guy to love, but America, you have been warned!

Don’t sleep!

Frank The Tank Kaminsky on the SI Cover

No need for an intro. Bucky is back. The 2014-2015 UW Badgers Basketball Team is back on the scene in route to the Final Four for the second year in the row. I want tell all of the folks in the country right now, do not underestimate the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Don’t!

Now last year, I channeled my inner-Wisconsin Side by supporting the Cardinal and White and having this #UWUnity thing on my tweets and Instagram. Why the #UWUnity thing. Why this. This is my saying of supporting the well known renound UW-School system that made many folks famous in world in and beyond went to the University in the state. The UW-School system is really not just UW-Madison. It’s also UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, UW-Whitewater, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Superior, my alma mater of UW-Stout, UW-River Falls, UW-Waukesha, UW-Parkside, UW-Platteville, UW-Superior, just to name a few. With all the hoopla that our Governor numb nuts of Scott Walker wanted to slash about 300 Million Dollars from the UW-School System, this is the one point in the state that we need #UWUnity. No matter the size, or the location. No matter the division of 1, 2 or 3. Every UW-School is all part of the UW-School System. UW-Madison is the heart. The main course. And yes, it’s the centralized link of all the Universities and in my estimation, it’s the Wisconsin Idea!

Many of us UW Alumni of any UW school is a beneficiary of the Wisconsin Idea. Whether we like it or not. We are apart of that tradition that keeps the schools going for the current students, and the students yet to be.

But now, it’s time talk about the Badgers! Since Bucky is back in the final four, I want let the Badger crew to do one thing if and when they face Kentucky:

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

Eat, Sleep, Believe and Repeat.

EAT, SLEEP, BELIEVE AND REPEAT!

Oh I know I’m acting like Paul Heyman to Brock Lesnar in the WWE, but guess what. That chant he did last year, worked. Look what it did at Wrestlemania 30 in the match I refuse to see on DVD, and yes it happened again against John Cena in a WWE Championship Match in which he won. I know it’s wrestling!

But in this fashion, Kentucky is on a undefeated streak currently. It’s a well known fact that streaks can be broken! Just a heads up Wildcats. Other teams checked in to the Final Four: Duke and Michigan State, in which both teams are doing well. But to be more blunt, I want to see a B1G Basketball Representation this year in the final two: Wisconsin and Michigan States in an upset.

So hear me now, like last year, never overlook a Badger. The last time they ever won a National Championship was in 1941 and many of us weren’t even around yet! Yes I’ve seen the Sam Okeys, the Michael Finleys, and now I’m seeing the Frank Kaminskies, the Nigel Hayes, the Traveon Jacksons and yes even the Gossers, and the Sam Dekkers. Oh yeah, the Bucky crew is revamped.

So hear me now,NEVER EVER overlook a Badger.

On Wisconsin!

Man, Wisconsin what is this mess of Right To Work? Are we really that desperate to be on the list of Right to Work?! And plus to those Union Workers who favored Scott Walker, congrats. You have disrespected and brought shame to the beginning folks who have helped to shape this state!  And to those of us in the black community, we need to raise our voices instead of letting other voices shutting us out! I’m going there.

And still to think, its still Black History Month until Saturday. Also, remember when Scott Walker talked about “Divide and Conquer?” The late great Malcolm X warned us about stuff like subject over 50 years ago:

Many many times, I have repeatedly said, by using the phrase, “I told you so”. And to those who thought it wouldn’t be real, guess what? ITS REAL! It’s out there. And the more stuff happens out of Scott Walker, the WORST DAYS of Wisconsin is becoming. And many it’s because of two things: One, its those who don’t vote. Yeah: there are those who feel that voting won’t matter to them. But if the candidate that makes the opposition against their beliefs, interests, values, goals or any other concerns then they don’t matter to you or anyone. Plus also there are those who might be your neighbors, friends, family, or any other buddy system you rely on everyday will also feel the pinch of despair! Tell me I’m wrong!

And the second thing it’s more of threats, racism and many other factors that are not going unheard. Period. Mostly, there are those who are white, and in Madison that are and will protest like crazy. Which is no surprise. But I was listening to the local black radio stations previously about the role of black folks in this “fight”, this is where I begin to address us in the black community in regarding the Right to Work issue. I want address the black folks here: Why aren’t our voices aren’t in this as much as the rest?  I think I answered my own question! In which I’ll go in summary.

Oh, most recently, Scott Walker said that if he could take on 100,000 protesters, he could take on the world. Even ISIS. Oh, let the memes begin. First of all, the 100,000 protesters doesn’t have weapons of knives and guns, and make videos before beheading the crap of their victims. ISIS is doing this. And to the Walker fans, your boy is out of his mind.

I had a former member who spoke in my Church recently, and said in a “God of Israel” warning that ISIS is in America! Oh, wait did I stutter on that? I repeat, ISIS is in America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just find the sleeper cells, and those Twitter like warnings on Social Media. And most recently, there were three Americans from Brooklyn who were arrested because of their support of hooking up with ISIS!  Watch out! If I were a REAL fan Scott Walker, in which I’m not, I would be definitely worried about him, and his words in regarding ISIS as being as a new monster as they are. And the insults of the comparisons, seriously! How many times I’ve seen the so-called “Union Thugs” making a declaration of war with weapons on this College Dropout that won 3 times, and gotten away with murder of slashing education funds, health care funds, High Speed Rail, and many others that is winning for his base?

Many of us tried to tell you folks who sit up all day! Especially those who drink the Kool-Aid of Walker’s Brown Bag Lunches all this time!

Is anyone seeing this clearly now? Nevermind the political stuff!

If the bill for right to work does indeed pass, and if it does reach the desk of Scott Walker with his pens of selection, that might be a death door-nail for unions. And speaking of that, if you are real Scott Walker backer, and a union guy or union woman, plus you hate the idea of  Right to Work in all, guess what? You are screwed! Literally. Also from what I’ve heard, that could also be junk jobs for those minimum wage like careers that won’t mean much if you’re looking for a higher degree for your career! That also might be a signal for those to move.

BUT Wait……It’s bad everywhere! Just a thought!

Right now in Madison, there is a Union-Wide protest and also statements from many who are against the idea of Right To Work in regards to testimonies. The same scene of the crime in which 4 years ago many union reps that came riding of tractors or other forms of transportation, all ventured out to the capitol and even in the capitol vented at the previous now broken Act 10 Bill. The same “Budget Repair Bill” that many in the Wisconsin 14 had fled the state in protest. Remember that? Now it’s a different scene, same Governor, different legislation and up to old tricks to mess up the Badger state. Slash and burn.

To be clear, if it’s no surprising that the Governor will in fact sign the bill into law then I don’t know what it is. And plus, when I looked at the pics of those who are majority white in Madison (which is and was expected), I’m asking this question, why do I see a few or two black people in this protest?

Just a word of advice: there needs to be MORE BLACK REPRESENTATION at the table when regarding issues like these. Whether Wisconsin likes it or not, the black residents are residents like everyone else. I represent the 6% – 8% of the citizens that is a Black Wisconsin Resident. Let’s be clear! I dare to have anyone (and I mean ANYONE) who is Madison born per say with all the political lowdown, to have the guts to go to Milwaukee’s Black Community, (or the African-American Chamber of Commerce, The Milwaukee NAACP, The Milwaukee Urban League or The Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce, or even black churches and community centers and black owned businesses) and actually address the reasons why this affects them also. Plus also black folks, we need to really hear, and see, and go to tell Madison that they need to listen to the concerns about Milwaukee that many in the media talk about at a minimal rate. And also who is kept silent!  Of course, we can say Milwaukee all day if we want. But I want the testimonies between the Largest City and the Capitol for those who don’t get a voice to get a shot!

In other words, Wisconsin’s Capitol needs to listen up. Not just within themselves, but outside of Dane County as many other counties per say that is a concern like Right to Work. Even Milwaukee!

Don’t get me wrong, I visited Madison twice in the 90’s as a High School Student during the Badger Games, when the UW Football was popping! And Barry Alvarez was coaching! Madison is good city in all, but the “Right To Work concerns” as the heart of the state that doesn’t seem to listen, must now pay attention!

Recently, the Govenor himself Scott Walker had done another slashing of education. This time it’s $300 Million in which that would effect classes, teachers, layoffs and many otehrs. Plus also what do us Alumni have to say about this? Personally, I think every single of us who have gone to UW-Madison, Green Bay, Milwaukee, LaCrosse, Oshkosh, Stevens Point, Stout and many others need to start speaking up and tell this govenor that we, as Alumni of our schools SHOULD NOT LET THIS STAND! Even though Scott Walker already given $200 MIllion for the new Milwaukee Bucks Arena, and I do understand that yes, the Bucks need a new home to play in or the NBA will be out to get the team to another city. I get that. However, as a Alum of the UW School System, like many of you, need to be concerned NOW how to support the UW-School System in which gave us love and degrees. So with that, here is my blog letter.

SideNote: And to my Sports folk:  exepect my Packers/Badgers sent letter later on.

Dear UW-School System (and Alumni):

It’s me, Stephen. I’m a black blogger from Milwaukee, and a alum of UW-Stout.

CALLOUT: We need to stand up!

I repeat, we need to stand up for our UW-School System. Now I know many have gotten our degrees and put them to work in our respected cities and also new digs, but I must say that its time that our former schools need our help.

I know also that we get those alumni newsletters in the mail about donate to this and that. And yes we put them to the side and forget it. But I think and believe that in the midst of this matter, I am calling on us UW Alumni to do one thing: GIVE BACK!

I don’t care if you are a alum of UW-Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, LaCrosse, Whitewater, Eau Claire, Superior, Oshkosh, Stevens Point, Waukesha, and or my UW School of Stout, we are in this!

If we TRULY loved our schools like we say we do, then I say as a UW ALUM, give back! There needs to be a unity of all UW Schools here in the state that is willing to give back. Even keeping the mantra of the Wisconsin Idea in full effect. And with me being an alum, with all the educational things I did with Stout, the Wisconsin Idea still lingers. Even with Distance Education! Don’t front!!!

I am also challenging all alumni of the UW to have gatherings at your next reunions or meet ups to discuss new ways to reach out about what can the alumni do to help this cause. Even doing a #UWUNITY T-Shirt. I don’t care. As long as it goes to whatever, it happens.

Make it happen if you want folks to learn and live!!

Sincerely,

Stephen

Well there you go Wisconsin.

I am so laughing at all the folks who voted up for Scott Walker.

I am laughing at you!

Your pick to retain the Wisconsin’s Chair just single gave away another job opporutnity that could benefited this whole state. No, I’m not talking about the High Speed Rail and KRM Commuter Rail Projects. He’s already guilty of those. What I am referring to is the refusal and rejection of the proposed Hard Rock Hotel Casino Project in Kenosha. This reminds me of something at the end of 2014 when I asked the question of my WordPress Blog of Review. Where I scratched my head so many times and really had to bust out the real questions in asking?

Let me refresh the memory: Oh, is the State of Wisconsin really serious about bringing the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to Kenosha?

Well just today, that question has been answered with a no. And many guesses that Walker had to listen to the folks in Iowa in due for his so-called run to be the next President of the United States. Oh, and plus he believed that it would be very heavy on the taxpayers and plus have the nerve to blame Former Governor Jim Doyle. SERIOUSLY! Jim Doyle has been out of office since 2011 and Governor Numb Nuts (yeah I’m saying it!) believes he’s still around causing mess. No, from the very start, Mayor Tom Barrett did say hang on to your hats! He’s right! If any Wisconsinite DID NOT listen to the warning of Tom Barrett then apparently the memo didn’t get through to some or many brain dead Badger residents who feel Walker is a God. Personally, Scott Walker IS NOT A GOD! And this “Governor” also recently that made it clear about those who are unemployed or going through unemployment must go through drug testing. Get the Urine Samples out now. Now I know many of you probably read this blog and didn’t believe a word I said that this would happen, guess what: It’s time to fess up! If many of the Wisconsin Residents had VOTED MORE in 2014, we would not be in this mess. But now, you stayed home. Worried about your Music, your guns, your sport tickets, or maybe just too much big words. Oh yeah I’m going there! Over and over again, Elections have Consequences! They do. Plus also Polarized Politics (and sometimes Segregated Communities) can be a dangerous mix. Even as dangerous as the Flu in Wisconsin. Many of you voted up for Walker. And this is what you get.

CALLOUT: I thought “Wisconsin is open for business.” Is it really?

Maybe Wisconsin is open for business, but certain restrictions needed to apply.

And the decision made is another example why Wisconsin can’t really get out of the funk of rejecting this and that. Oh what, is gambling a considered boondoggle? And word also that Potawatomi Hotel and Casino tipped off Walker the warning.

Now those who were wondering, what kinds of jobs would have benefited from this casino project? Via the source from Casino Kenosha Website:

Jobs & Economic Impact
The Kenosha entertainment center and casino will create more than 3,300 good-paying jobs with benefits for local residents, and indirectly support another 1,800 local jobs. On top of that, just building the facility will create more than 1,400 family-sustaining construction jobs. Those 6,500 jobs go a long way toward helping fulfill Governor Walker’s goal of creating creating 250,000 new jobs in the Badger State.

Additionally, the Kenosha casino will make more in state and local government payments than any other Wisconsin company or Tribe – essentially, it will be the State of Wisconsin’s largest taxpayer. Agreements in place with the City of Kenosha and Kenosha County will also benefit local schools, cultural institutions and nonprofits.

Plus the Menominee Nation commented the “ultimate decision” of Scott Walker.

“It is with great disappointment that I relay the message I received minutes ago from the Wisconsin Secretary of Administration, Mike Huebsch. Governor Walker will be announcing shortly his decision to say no to our Kenosha Casino proposal.

“It is our belief that this project would have improved the lives of the nearly 9000 members of the Tribe. Instead, one Tribe – the Forest County Potawatomi and one goal of Governor Walker – the Presidency has led to a no for our people.

“The Tribe and our partners at Hard Rock International will meet in the next few days to discuss any options we have. Until then – we must remember all the Menominee Nation has overcome in more than 10,000 years – we will continue to thrive as a Nation and will continue to be honorable partners for Indian Tribes in Wisconsin and around the Nation.”

Well, there it goes, Walker fans. All those times I’ve said this in the past, and I’m saying it now: I told you so! And on the flipside, what is Iowa saying to tell Walker to reject the casino? Oh that’s right…..Scott Walker is hinting a run. A Presidential Run for the White House in 2016. I have message for America: DO NOT PICK SCOTT WALKER! For all those “Republicans” who don’t follow Walker and don’t like his ideas or policies, put him on BLAST! I dare you. Put Scott Walker on blast on everything he says and does between now and 2016. I know many of you probably won’t do it. But I’m daring you. No, I’m double dog daring you!

Now I want to direct my attention to the Menominee Tribe in trying to get this Hard Rock Hotel and Casino going. First, I feel you. Really I do. I think you worked very hard for the last couple of years or more just trying to get this off the ground. Yes, I’m not a gambler. And yes I have been to Hard Rock Cafes in New York, Detroit, and Orlando. Speaking of that: I think since this project had been declared dead by Scott Walker, try a plan B. In which, that Wisconsin could use an opportunity to build more Hard Rock Cafes! Build them in Kenosha, Madison, Green Bay, Racine, and mainly the Metro Area of Milwaukee. It’s time I think that Hard Rock Cafe (not the casino or hotel) needs to start up in Wisconsin in terms of future economic growth and get more jobs for those looking for one than the same old mess we’ve been going through since. I say this as a resident and plus I’m saying this as an African-American. This cancellation of the Hotel and Casino really reflects on why Wisconsin cannot get ahead due to blatant polarized politics of the state! And even the fear of competition of Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, and even others of Oneida and Ho-Chunk. That’s my statement. Fight on if you must, but always remember that there is always a “PLAN B!”

And hopefully that Plan B alone can be better for many employment hungry Wisconsinites (even of African Decent) to partake in.

Yes. I know. It’s the day after the Midterm Elections and yes majority of the Red Squad from hades got not only the House and the Senate, but it’s all about one thing: getting at Obama. All of this was just a ploy of them to get back at all those executive decisions that the President made in all. And the Republicans themselves had to say all that jazz to say no to the nation’s first black president from the very start. And partially, those in the Democratic Party who ran in the midterms, and went away from Obama for support, you are NOT real Democrats! That’s what you get. Oh, Republicans don’t make a fan of yours! And to those that didn’t vote, oh I got some words for you!

Dear Democrats, and those who didn’t vote:

It’s me Stephen, a black blogger from Milwaukee. You know the city.

First for the Democrats: are you happy now? Are you really happy now? You shouldn’t be. After that drumming from the elephants that most are despised got you again in a Election Midterm! What is up with you?!!! I’m a Democratic fan in all, but this loss is just another example of you losing in elections like this. But also I have to ask this question: Why did some of you or many of you had to run in the midterms and also ran away from the support of the President of the United States? Some of you probably admit that not liking Obama is one thing, but running away from his support in favoring some of you who ran like cowards per say, got you out of a job to those that most in America don’t like. The Republican Party. I had to be like, why would the blue squad who all for the ACA, the jobs, additional Civil Rights, and many others that Obama proposed and got done so far, many of you had to run scared! And you call yourselves “DEMOCRATS?” Really?!!! Mary Burke didnt run away, but yes she lost. More on that later. Just today, I got a mailing from the Obama’s group, Organizing for Action. And in the envelope, it was a bumper sticker that read this:

Change Only Happens When You Organize

I looked at that today, and I had to wonder if any Democrat that lost ever had to read that message? Or in this case to remind those the only way you aren’t going to get anything done if you don’t organize. For those Democrats that lost big and even in Obama’s Illinois State, ask yourself that question in the mirror, did you really made that decision of running and not getting the POTUS Support? Really?! Now let me comment of the voting factor. If you voted up yesterday, or ahead of time like I did, you can have the hand patted on the back. But for those who didn’t feel that voting wasn’t all that important or it’s just a waste of time out of you going to the club getting your boogie on, or your hair done, or worrying about playing your video games or still being “socially active” on Social Media and not doing a darn thing of getting your communities better in all, you are at fault! I mean I could blame the blue squad and Wisconsin Democratic Leader Mike Tate for not stepping up in all, but for the voters (or those so-called non voters) that refuse to cast a ballot, don’t you realized that there were those who fought and died for your right to vote?

Take a look at Wisconsin. Yes. Scott Walker beat a woman. Mary Burke got beat by a guy who still has a proud moment of a High School Diploma, dropping out of Marquette University, whom probably wasn’t that likable at Marquette anyway. She also got beat by a guy who ran an campaign of getting 250,000 jobs but only came up with 133,000 plus jobs netted in the state. She also got beat by a guy who thought having a rail system was a boondoggle between Milwaukee and Madison, and also she got beat by a guy who would like to privatize schools, take money away from the large cities to the small towns and above all else, the next time if those want to go on unemployment or food stamps, make sure you got your urine samples ready! Make sure your benefits change is straight under this guy. That swift action of slash and burn 2.0 is coming. Plus also Mary Burke got beat by a guy that may have an idea in the next two years to get the chair the White House. If that were to happen: GOD HELP WISCONSIN! Why Wisconsin? Ask those in the 50% that think that Walker is a good guy in which many trust. To be honest, I don’t trust Walker since his days in Milwaukee as a County Executive cutting bus routes, raising bus fares, and cutting out the poor folks stuff that don’t have access to health, food banks or even getting to work.

Thank you non-voters for wasting your excuses of keeping Walker for the next four years. Most of us tried to warn you! But, nah, you had to be one of the 2/3 per say in the state or county that didn’t vote. This what happens. Now many of you are already complaining about all these law changes and these extreme demands out of Walker and also those who feel that the Republicans are holding safe zones by which they stand for. They’re not! And for those who are Independents that sided with Walker in all, no disrespect but what was you thinking? Now there are many of us who are disappointed in all the canvassing, campaigns, GOTV, and many others  including voting of the Democratic side that just failed. But for the next two years, I think the momentum and the engagement of this loss, should rebuild the next players to be, to make the Democratic Party (and yes this includes the Wisconsin Democratic Party) a valuable player in the game of Midterms, Governing, and yes events. But in between that, they need to change the culture! Do you get me Democrats? It’s time for you in the blue squad and the blue squad to be, you all need to change the culture for strong players. Reference the quote above.

Yes, for us in Wisconsin who felt disappointed that Mary Burke got beat, we know. But I think that partially the main source of her loss was the plagiarism thing for her jobs plan. That one thing got the Walker folks talking that jazz for their win. Just saying. All of that came close to the Election Day. Yes, Mary Burke (unlike Walker) has a college degree, educated and also her family made the Trek Bikes well known. Speaking of that, not to ask in all, why aren’t any Trek Bike factories or shops in the metro Milwaukee area? Um….Hello?! Just asking. And yes, this was the same Mary Burke who tapped into the black vote in Milwaukee. Plus appearing on WNOV more times than any of the Republican reps period. Oh, just to ask, how many times Scott Walker got on the black radio in Milwaukee during his tour of trying to get re-elected? Oh I forgot, ZERO! Now there might have been some black republican “surrogates” of the Wisconsin Republican Party might have chimed in on black radio or the black newspapers, but none of the appearance of Walker himself.

For all you Walker folks, yeah your boy got his third win. But if I were a real Walker supporter, in which I am not, and never will, I would hold him accountable of everything he does. No matter if it’s showing off his High School Diploma or getting those new bills done with Voter ID. Yes Walker folks, Scott is on watch. And even the detractors are closely looking of him and any other Republican known in this era.

Sincerely,

Stephen

P.S. – Next blog will focus on the mentality of non-voters plus racism. I kid you not. I will go deep.

Three way dance time! – The Halloween Edition.

First Happy Halloween to those like the holiday as is: FUN!  Also it’s the weekend to celebrate All the Saints that has gone before us, Dia de los Muertos, and also to set our clocks back an hour plus changing our batteries in our smoke detectors. Plus, It’s harvest time!

Ok, Wisconsin: we got a few days before the November 4th Election of Scott Walker and Mary Burke. According to the latest MU Poll via their website:

MILWAUKEE – A new Marquette Law School Poll finds Republican Gov. Scott Walker leading Democratic challenger Mary Burke 50 percent to 43 percent among likely voters in the Wisconsin governor’s race. Another 3 percent say that they are undecided or that they do not know whom they will support, while 1 percent say that they will vote for someone else. Likely voters are those who say that they are certain to vote in the November election.

Among registered voters in the poll, Walker receives 46 percent and Burke 45 percent, with 4 percent undecided and 1 percent saying that they will vote for someone else.

The poll interviewed 1,409 registered voters, including 1,164 likely voters, by landline and cell phone Oct. 23-26. For the full sample of 1,409 registered voters, the margin of error is +/- 2.7 percentage points. The margin of error for the sample of 1,164 likely voters is +/- 3.0 percentage points. This is the final Marquette Law School Poll before the Nov. 4 election.

The previous Marquette Law School Poll, conducted Oct. 9-12, found the race tied among likely voters, with the candidates holding 47 percent each, while 48 percent of registered voters supported Walker to Burke’s 45 percent support.

I’m going to say that  even though Walker has a “preleminary so-called” lead, Burke can still catch up and take a lead going into Election Day. Also from the website in regarding turnout:

Turnout differences
“Shifting turnout intentions have provided most of the dynamics of the race this fall,” said Marquette Law School Poll director Charles Franklin. “While the results among all registered voters have varied between a tie and a 3-point Walker edge, the likely-voter results have ranged from a 2-point Burke advantage to the current 7-point Walker lead.”

In the current poll, 93 percent of Republicans say that they are certain to vote, while 82 percent of Democrats and 75 percent of independents say the same. Two weeks ago 82 percent of Republicans, and 80 percent of both Democrats and independents, said that they were certain to vote. By comparison, in the final Marquette Law School Poll before the 2012 gubernatorial recall election, 92 percent of Republicans, 77 percent of Democrats and 84 percent of independents said that they were certain to vote.

In August, 82 percent of Democrats said they were certain to vote while 77 percent of Republicans said so. In early September this reversed, with 80 percent of Republicans and 73 percent of Democrats saying they were certain to vote. Late in September, 80 percent of Republicans and 77 percent of Democrats said they were certain to vote. Independent intentions held steady in August and September between 67 and 69 percent.

Thirteen percent of registered voters said they had already voted either by absentee or in-person early voting, including 11 percent of Republicans, 16 percent of Democrats and 12 percent of independents.

The keyword in all of this: Turnout. That is the momentum going into this election. Many of you probably have early voted which ends today, and hopefully that might be an extra momentum going into November 4th. Even though that Walker has that “preliminary” edge which many dont agree, that might change for the Burke crew, if many turn out at the polls! And this includes voters that you need to drag out of bed or the clubs, etc.

Second Dance: Voter Intimidation.

I want to address this because I feel that it’s an important concern. Listening to the radio today, via WNOV of course, there was talk about those feeling intimidated and about a thought that Scott Walker wants those to stay at home so he can take the votes up for another four years. That to me ts a scare tactic and has no place for this. Everyone IN Wisconsin, not the usual 50% per say needs to come out and vote. There were talks about Scott Walker’s new politics might effect those getting public assistance of Unemployment Benefits might have those to take a urine test before getting that extra change per say. And many others that does require urine! Speaking of intimidation in all, why do folks from the 262 area had to text into a radio segment in all, had to be all explicit of that notion?

I GET IT!

They are scared. The same folks who probably got even more scared that President Obama this week was coming to Milwaukee to stump for Mary Burke, but the area the President was visiting making the stump was North Division High School. He came to the Hood! The same HOOD that got him 99% of the votes during his re-election. And I’ll bet the Conservatives were just shaking in their boots! Again, I want ALL Wisconsinites who feel that indimiation will play a factor in this election in favor of Scott Walker getting a term out of fear, don’t EVER let that get to you!  Just like the milita folks who want all those who feel that the democratic voters in the black community need to be “on watch” in all. And also, if there is informaiton that seems to be strange that someone gave out without checking the real facts, they need to get checked! Research the real stories through the GAB, City of Milwaukee, State of Wisconsin for the real sources.

Those who do intimidation are doing nothing but hating themselves and hating the fact there are those who feel staying home is the best move and not vote.

So when November 4th comes between 7am – 8pm: Don’t let NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE scare you in not voting! Represent!

Final thing on the card: Halloween!

I want to address those who are christians. I’m one too. Yes, the holiday of Halloween is upon us. And many that you know are out Trick-or-Treating, having Costume Parties at the clubs or homes, telling ghost stories, or watching Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Or Blade, or any other show that is dedicated to the spriit and FUN of Halloween. Or Halloween related. One of my firends on Facebook posted a question about the folks who are brothers and sisters in Christ, asked is it OK for Christitans to have a Halloween Party, or trick-or-treating and many others. Most on the page said no, due to Halloween to be all evil and etc. Since I am a member of the United Methodist Church, I came across of this question online:

Does The United Methodist Church have a position about Halloween?

Simple question right?

From the website it clearly states via the commentary as follows:

The United Methodist Church does not have an official statement or position regarding Halloween. Church members are free to make their own decisions about participating in Halloween activities.

Many local churches offer safe alternatives to traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating. Others turn the focus to more on giving than receiving. Collecting for UNICEF or giving Fair Trade chocolateare ideas for using the occasion to “treat” or give to others.

When I thought about this question, I had to go into the think tank about my Halloween Parties from my chruch back in the day. Mainly when I was growing up. Am I not the only one had been to  church Halloween parties in the past? I know I’m not the only one! Back in my day, there was bobbing for apples, hit the piata or in this case hit the pumpkins above so the candy can fall out. We had food and punch, races, face paints, and even a “haunted house”. Plus musical chairs, one of my living uncles and older cousins played old school hip hop and pop music way back before Ariana Grande  or Chris Brown was heard of. We’re talking like mid 80’s here. And I was in elementary school and Michael Jackson was in his Thriller era. And it was fun! Even in costumes it was so fun to enjoy! Of course my church had “hallelujah parties” in between after church years later, but the idea of having a Halloween Party was just that:  FUN!

So for my Christian Brothers and Sisters who are in this so-called struggle of Halloween, I get it. It’s all evil in between. But no one, and I feel that no one in the church doesn’t talk about the good side of Halloween as in having fun without any drama! I challenge all Christian Churches to have at least once a year, Halloween Parties or Halloween harvest parties. Yes you can do this! Especially those in the black churches! Don’t just think about the negatives of it, do the positives.

So with that: I’ll quote the late Edgar Allen Poe: “Suddenly, I heard a tapping, as is someone is gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door………..”

Plus also, if I’m not mistaken, Christianity has some ties with Halloween in some sorts. Very true I might add. Via the source of Wikipedia that needs attention:

Today’s Halloween customs are also thought to have been influenced by Christian dogma and practices derived from it. Halloween falls on the evening before theChristian holy days of All Hallows’ Day (also known as All Saints’ or Hallowmas) on 1 November and All Souls’ Day on 2 November, thus giving the holiday on 31 October the full name of All Hallows’ Eve (meaning the evening before All Hallows’ Day).[63] Since the time of the primitive Church,[64] major feasts in the Christian Church (such asChristmas, Easter and Pentecost) had vigils which began the night before, as did the feast of All Hallows’.[65] These three days are collectively referred to as Allhallowtideand are a time for honoring the saints and praying for the recently departed souls who have yet to reach Heaven. All Saints was introduced in the year 609, but was originally celebrated on 13 May.[66] In 835, it was switched to 1 November (the same date as Samhain) at the behest of Pope Gregory IV.[66] Some suggest this was due to Celtic influence, while others suggest it was a Germanic idea.[66] It is also suggested that the change was made on the “practical grounds that Rome in summer could not accommodate the great number of pilgrims who flocked to it”, and perhaps because of public health considerations regarding Roman Fever – a disease that claimed a number of lives during the sultry summers of the region.[67]

On All Hallows’ Eve, Christians in some parts of the world visit graveyards to pray and place flowers and candles on the graves of their loved ones.[68]

By the end of the 12th century they had become holy days of obligation across Europe and involved such traditions as ringingchurch bells for the souls in purgatory. In addition, “it was customary for criers dressed in black to parade the streets, ringing a bell of mournful sound and calling on all good Christians to remember the poor souls.”[69] “Souling”, the custom of baking and sharing soul cakes for all christened souls,[70] has been suggested as the origin of trick-or-treating.[71] The custom dates back at least as far as the 15th century[72] and was found in parts of England, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Italy.[53] Groups of poor people, often children, would go door-to-door during Allhallowtide, collecting soul cakes, in exchange for praying for the dead, especially the souls of the givers’ friends and relatives.[73][74][72] Shakespeare mentions the practice in his comedyThe Two Gentlemen of Verona (1593).[75] The custom of wearing costumes has been explicated by Prince Sorie Conteh, who wrote: “It was traditionally believed that the souls of the departed wandered the earth until All Saints’ Day, and All Hallows’ Eve provided one last chance for the dead to gain vengeance on their enemies before moving to the next world. In order to avoid being recognized by any soul that might be seeking such vengeance, people would don masks or costumes to disguise their identities”.[76] In the Middle Ages, churches displayed the relics of martyred saints and those parishes that were too poor to have relics let parishioners dress up as the saints instead,[77] a practice that some Christians continue in Halloween celebrations today.[78] folklorist Kingsley Palmer, in addition to others, has suggested that the carved jack-o’-lantern, a popular symbol of Halloween, originally represented the souls of the dead.[79][1] On Halloween, in medieval Europe, “fires [were] lit to guide these souls on their way and deflect them from haunting honest Christian folk.”[80] In addition, households inAustria, England, Ireland often had “candles burning in every room to guide the souls back to visit their earthly homes”. These were known as “soul lights”.[81][82][83] Many Christians in continental Europe, especially in France, acknowledged “a belief that once a year, on Hallowe’en, the dead of the churchyards rose for one wild, hideous carnival,” known as the danse macabre, which has been commonly depicted in church decoration, especially on the walls of cathedrals, monasteries, and cemeteries.[84] Christopher Allmand and Rosamond McKitterick write in The New Cambridge Medieval History that “Christians were moved by the sight of the Infant Jesus playing on his mother’s knee; their hearts were touched by the Pietà; and patron saints reassured them by their presence. But, all the while, the danse macabre urged them not to forget the end of all earthly things.”[85] This danse macabre, which was enacted by “Christian village children [who] celebrated the vigil of All Saints” in the 16th Century, has been suggested as the predecessor of modern day costume parties on this same day.[86][87]

In parts of Britain, these customs came under attack during the Reformation as some Protestants berated purgatory as a “popish” doctrine incompatible with the notion of predestination. Thus, for someNonconformist Protestants, the theology of All Hallows’ Eve was redefined; without the doctrine of purgatory, “the returning souls cannot be journeying from Purgatory on their way to Heaven, as Catholics frequently believe and assert. Instead, the so-called ghosts are thought to be in actuality evil spirits. As such they are threatening.”[82] Other Protestants maintained belief in an intermediate state, known as Hades (Bosom of Abraham),[88] and continued to observe the original customs, especially souling, candlelit processions and the ringing of church bells in memory of the dead.[89][63] With regard to the evil spirits, on Halloween, “barns and homes were blessed to protect people and livestock from the effect of witches, who were believed to accompany the malignant spirits as they traveled the earth.”[80] In the 19th century, in some rural parts of England, families gathered on hills on the night of All Hallows’ Eve. One held a bunch of burning straw on a pitchfork while the rest knelt around him in a circle, praying for the souls of relatives and friends until the flames went out. This was known as teen’lay, derived either from the Old English tendan (meaning to kindle) or a word related to Old Irish tenlach (meaning hearth).[90] The rising popularity of Guy Fawkes Night (5 November) from 1605 onward, saw many Halloween traditions appropriated by that holiday instead, and Halloween’s popularity waned in Britain, with the noteworthy exception of Scotland.[91] There and in Ireland, they had been celebrating Samhain and Halloween since at least the early Middle Ages, and the Scottish kirk took a more pragmatic approach to Halloween, seeing it as important to the life cycle and rites of passage of communities and thus ensuring its survival in the country.[91]

In France, some Christian families, on the night of All Hallows’ Eve, prayed beside the graves of their loved ones, setting down dishes full of milk for them.[81] On Halloween, in Italy, some families left a large meal out for ghosts of their passed relatives, before they departed for church services.[92] In Spain, on this night, special pastries are baked, known as “bones of the holy” (Spanish: Huesos de Santo) and put them on the graves of the churchyard, a practice that continues to this day.[93]

So with that: and I mean this with love and peace: Happy Halloween to ALL!

Last time on this blog: Normally, this is still election season in which you’ll see primaries and general bids for the picks to be. And many will indeed go to the polls. Check this, I am a Election Inspector for the City of Milwaukee that has been in the game for 8 years. From those who are good and yes that had folks yelled in my face! No matter if it’s a full day or a half day. For this also, it’s part II: the General State Version Election.

For this: here it comes again – The Stephen’s Spot Rules returns. My tips, and my rules of the voting game in Wisconsin – PART II!

First thing: When the day comes, the polls will be open from 7am – 8pm. Now there is a forecast of a high voter turnout of 80%. Give or take. However regarding this, already many of you or some probably voted early either by mail or in person at your City Hall Areas. But for you last minute voters: yes like the last time, you can still vote up on the day of Election Day. And word is that Milwaukee will be the key for this State Election.

Second Thing. When going, make sure you are at the right (and I mean THE RIGHT) polling place! If you’re not sure, the Election Inspectors (and or the Chief Inspectors) will help you to find the correct place to vote up. And if you are at the right spot, walk in to the rooms and when you come to the tables, state your name and address. And if your name is listed in the books, sign your name in the book to verify, and the EI’s will give you a ballot and a number.

By the way: NO ID’S NECESSARY! Only state your name and address to the EI’s (via the state law). And plus If I were a real voter, use this to your advantage and thank the U.S. Supreme Court for blocking this rule!

Third thing: Now since you have your ballot, look at it carefully. The categories and names you’ll see are the winners from the August 12th Election. For this ballot coming up it’s a non- partisan ballot – meaning for this is that it’s a two sided ballot that you can only vote for your chosen party. If you pick a Democratic contender, you have to select the democratic candidate in the categories. If you pick Republican, same thing. Constitutional or sometimes Independent, same thing. ONLY PICK ONE CANDIDATE IN EACH CATEGORY!  On the other side, you’ll see 5 questions for a referendum in which you the voter will have to answer. More on that later on. After that has been done, you take your ballot and insert into the machine and you will receive your I Voted Sticker.

NOTE: Now there might be barriers. So listen up if you might encounter them.

If you show up at the polls, and if you state your name, and if your name is NOT in the books: chances are the EI’s might ask you the question: “When was the last time you voted?” The reason being if you haven’t voted in Wisconsin in the last 5 years per say, you need to re-register on site. When you re-register: fill out the forms provided, with your current name, address, city, state and zip. And of course you have to certify that you are of age, no felonies, no convictions, lived at your residence for 28 days, etc. Plus also when providing your info: you could also use your Wisconsin Drivers License or State ID Number or your last 4 digits of your Social to register. Plus other listings of Proof of Residence like a Utility Bill, your Government License, College Students that have an official letter from their College or University, and many others. Don’t worry, the Polling Places will have a listing of what you need to register or re-register. Also, if you recently moved to a new place and your name is again not in the books, you might have to check your old polling area to see if your name is in those books. Or if the districts have been changed, it is best to notify either the Election Commission or any of the polling sites have those red books that you’ll see with the EI’s and Chiefs. And just a positive note: for those that use the internet, go to the GAB website, and when you see the MyVote link, click on that and sign in on the site to get your polling place, ballot status, etc.

If your name has changed due to misspelling or if you got married, or changed it for religious reasons, or if your neighbor near you who was a voter for amount of years that recently passed, the EI’s will have a Correction Form with them in which you the voter will verify the changes either in address, name, or deceased.

If you are a convicted felon: PAY ATTENTION ON THIS!

If you’re name is on paper and if you are still finishing your parole, you can’t vote. HOWEVER, if you’re name is off paper, yes you can vote.

About 2 years ago: the state warned us about “Tweeting Ballots”. Here’s what I know. If you snap a picture of your ballot that is a sample or unmarked, it’s valid. HOWEVER if it’s already snapped and you made your choices to show it off, you’re asking for jail time and/or pay a fine. Votes should be private all the way. Even in the era of social media. So Facebookers, Twitter folks, Googlers in all, don’t even try it. However, you can snap a pic of your I Voted Sticker!

Plus: for those who will work during the voting hours, you can get some time off the clock so you can go vote. Tell your bosses ahead of time and get your I Voted Sticker as proof!

When marking the ballots of your choice, and after you insert it into the machine, you might hear an rejected error sound. What do you do? The EI’s or Chief Inspectors will inspect the print out and it could be an overvote, or a cross party voted error. In this situation, the voter (you) will have to revote your picks per say. The EI’s will give you another ballot and you have to make your choices again. And when marking the votes, don’t darken the lines so heavily! Draw the lines lightly. And when you put the ballot in the machine (if it all goes well) then you get your sticker. Just a heads up: you only get 3 tries. If you fail all three times, its done. But if you get it right on the second or last try, you’re safe. So it’s best to get the ballots right on the first try!

If your name is in the book, and if you have the word Absentee near it, the EI’s will tell you that it’s noted and will ask if you used it previously. If you did, that counts as a vote for that day. But: if you haven’t used it but still wanted to use the regular ballots, what the EI’s and Chief Inspectors will do in this situation is take your Absentee Ballot, and exchange it for a regular ballot. Plus you might sign your name in the books. The absentee ballots will be soiled or in this case they’ll rip it up. For the POR’s you might to provide additional info like a WI DL Number to verify.

And also in some circumstances: having a witness could be a vital factor of proof.

For the handicapped: it is vital that they receive the real deal voting as much as every other voter.

Also: if the ending of the voting hours around 8pm occurs, and if you’re in line: you can still vote! Remember, everyone’s right of voting counts.

Now since the finals are in November and whoever wins that will be declared the victor.

ADDED BONUS to know: REFERENDUMS!

ALSO there are 5 referendums on the Ballot. And I know that this might be a challenge for those who might be confusing. But I think you just have to read the questions. BUT ON HERE: I’m going to dissect the questions per say to those who might an problem per say. It could happen. So here goes, via the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.

STATE REFERENDUM
QUESTION 1: “Creation of a Transportation Fund. Shall section 9 (2) of article IV and section 11 of article VIII of the constitution be created to require that revenues generated by use of the state transportation system be deposited into a transportation fund administered by a department of transportation for the exclusive purpose of funding Wisconsin’s transportation systems and to prohibit any transfers or lapses from this fund?” YES ___ NO ____

My view – In other words: do you feel that the Wisconsin DOT per say, should establish a transportation fund that can be only be used for funding for transportation uses only (i.e. roads, bridges, trains, etc.), and NOT for any other non-transportation project?

MILWAUKEE COUNTY CORPORATION AND CAMPAIGN FINANCING REFERENDUM – QUESTION 1
“SHALL THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION BE AMENDED TO ESTABLISH THE FOLLOWING? 1. ONLY HUMAN BEINGS, NOT CORPORATIONS, ARE ENTITLED TO CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, AND 2. MONEY IS NOT SPEECH, AND THEREFORE, REGULATING POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS AND SPENDING IS NOT EQUIVALENT TO LIMITING POLITICAL SPEECH.” YES _____ NO _____

My view – In other words: should us human beings or citizens only be for the constitutional rights and not companies and political contributions?

MILWAUKEE COUNTY BADGERCARE REFERENDUM – QUESTION 2
“SHALL THE NEXT STATE LEGISLATURE ACCEPT ALL AVAILABLE FEDERAL FUNDS FOR BADGERCARE TO ENSURE THAT THOUSANDS OF WISCONSIN CITIZENS HAVE ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HEALTH COVERAGE?YES ____ NO _____

My view – In other words: should the state get more federal money to assist the needs of the Badgercare Customers for health coverage? Specifically for those who need it?

MILWAUKEE COUNTY MINIMUM WAGE $10.10 REFERENDUM – QUESTION 3
“SHOULD THE STATE OF WISCONSIN INCREASE THE MINIMUM WAGE TO $10.10 AN HOUR?” YES _____ NO _____

My view – In other words: do you want, or would you like to see the state of Wisconsin increase the Minimum Wage from $7.25 to $10.10?

MILWAUKEE COUNTY – COUNTY EXECUTIVE OR COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR REFERENDUM – QUESTION 4
“SHOULD WISCONSIN STATUTES BE AMENDED TO ALLOW MILWAUKEE COUNTY TO TRANSITION ITS MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS FROM AN ELECTED COUNTY EXECUTIVE TO A PROFESSIONAL COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR? YES _____ NO _____

My view – In other words: do you want Milwaukee County to give the power of Management and Administrative work to a County Administrator than the County Executive? (i.e. do you want Milwaukee County to give County Administrator Joe Schmoe the Management Administrative jobs than County Executive Chris Abele?)

Now just a friendly warning, I am NOT making any voter to answer yes or no. That’s up to you as a voter to decide.

So again Wisconsin folks, I know we’re polarized with politics. But one thing for sure, we all have a right to vote for whomever we want to steer the offices. Even if you don’t like the viewpoints of Scott Walker. Or whatever. And if those feel that this election in November don’t mean nothing to sit at home, worrying about your paycheck, or your hairstyle, or your new CD with the banging beats, or your new Gun Permit CCW License that you got, those things might make your voting opposition even worse even if you don’t vote.

By the way, for those who you know very well that got those Lyft Cars, or Uber Cars and you know them that uses their vehicles for going from point A to point B and being paid for it, use that.

For all you Wisconsin Uber and Lyft Drivers: if you have any Election Day Driving specials going on like “I’ll Uber you to the polls”, or “Lyfting you to the polls” specials, start advertising that NOW! I don’t care how much you charge, just help those who can’t get to the polls on their own.

So in conclusion: Get OUT and Vote Up on November 4th!
