With the news circulating the story regarding the murder of Botham Jean from 2018, the court case has been sharply examined with Amber Gutter being the murderer she was of doing the job. We know this so well and all the drama that went along with it. It’s been a year of heartache and distress. And us in the black community, we are known to let this slide and branch out. Yet its still another day to conquer.

But I want to take a moment to discuss is the subject of forgiveness. Oh let’s go there. This whole thing about Botham Jean’s youngest brother hugging Amber Guyger has really upset the entire Black Community after the footage that has escalated the masses of commentary. And that same commentary was not very liked. 10 times over, it was not liked nor appreciastd of what was learned in a place that many black folks have not or will not go on sundays. Yep I’m talking about Church. It seems that the issue of Christianity has once again has hit the folks and many had bashed Botham Jean’s Brother in the thought of him hugging the woman who murdered his older brother in 2018. And he, asked the judge if it’s alright to hug her. He did. And not only that, the judge hugged her also, whom is BLACK! And now many are questioning or commenting that oh, he’s bowing down to his oppressor, and or it’s being brainwashed of him hugging her due to the mental slavery mentality. Don’t believe me? Look at your Social Media folks, WHO DON’T GO TO CHURCH, NOR NOT WANTS TO GO! They were all over this like white on rice. Look at those who write these opinionated thoughts about religion and haven’t have a darn clue of the positive side of things, rather they want to rant about the negative angles. I said it before and I’ll say it again, there are good and bad in all things! Look at your jobs, your clubs, your recent class reunions, or some sort of organized atmosphere and yes even though that the NFL and NCAA are celebrating milestones this year of 100 and 150 with the throwback jerseys and uniforms. But those whom wore the originals, wore them at a time when there were no black folks playing Football and to bust down barriers of hate just to play on the gridiron. And all of this was way before Colin Kaepernick was even thought about!

CALLOUT: Since when, just when the word or action of forgiveness has become the thing of being bad? Since when the word forgiveness is or had become the thought of being an enemy of the people? Yes, we all even if you had gone atheist claiming there is no God, but we all had to draw a thought to get the subject of forgiveness as an understanding of getting things out and admitting the faults or mistakes. That is the true thought of ideas. It’s not to make you look like a wussy.

Ask yourself, how many of you reading my blog or past blog stories had ever asked to be forgiven or had been asked by others to forgive? Be honest. And I know you have been asking in a sense, “when was Stephen was forgiven of anything, or had Stephen accepted a forgiveness angle of someone that had hurt him? No matter when it was, where it was, and how it was. No matter if it was in church, or school, or even in the family?” You know what, I had folks telling me “I’m Sorry.” Or I had told folks, I’m Sorry. But I also had folks telling me that saying sorry is not enough. I had folks telling me I’m sorry of the crap they did to me, but I have NOT forgiven them. Oh……I know what you’re thinking. “Dude you go to church every Sunday, in that building for 2 hours doing your thing with your members, and you on here telling folks that other people hating on you for some stuff and you have NOT forgiven them?” And oh…..here comes a trying question: “What kind of God you serve?”

Oh, ok. So many of you probably think that if I don’t forgive a person that make me a bad guy? Is that what God is expected of me? The kind of God I serve, is a everlasting forgiving, and fearful God that is far more superior than folks who hate on Church. No matter what my stats or my interests are. No matter what I have done wrong or done right, nor matter if I worked a little or volunteered alot. Even though I may not a perfect person growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the very same Milwaukee that many black folks have dubbed as “the most segregated city in the United States”, have a little menial job of a Church Secretary, or having 2 college degrees, active in my community for my Church and Alumni, and wants a challenge in life in my 40’s with dealing the fact of Type Two Diabetes in session that I did not ask to come into my life, I said it before and I’ll say it now, I am not perfect. If the folks did me wrong so bad, and I have said it million times on this blog, I’m holding folks accountable. Doesn’t matter how long it takes. I’m not able to send out the “I accept your apologies” yet. Nope, that is way too easy. I want that person or persons to be held accountable of what was transpired and to accept the fact they were wrong period. No matter if they were BLACK OR WHITE! No matter if they’re Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Z, and the Millennial folks. Yes I’m putting all of that on blast because now a days, many want to simply forget and move on. Yes we really want to forget and move on, but I say: NEVER FORGET! Where did I heard those words from? Everytime when the issue of the holocaust comes up, the Jewish folks always says, never forget. When 9/11 or any other anniversary act of danger is being remembered, we all say never forget. But when the issue of slavery comes up, we black folks had these words scripted so many times: Get over it. Yeah, follow that. Oprah Winfrey asked Michael Jackson on his interview back in 1993 this one question: “Can you really forgive?” Like Barack Obama once said in his presidency, “Hold me accountable”. He was real when he said it. But for what I said earlier, it depends on the issue and the later stances of that person(s) at fault.

From the article of CNN.com:

It’s part of their Christian faith
Forgiveness is mentioned many times in the Bible and is a pinnacle of the Christian faith.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you,” reads Ephesians 4:32. Another verse, Matthew 6:14, goes further: “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
These sentiments of forgiveness are reiterated again and again throughout the Bible, and Botham’s family is quite acquainted with this Christian tradition. Like his brother, Brandt was raised in the Church of Christ in St. Lucia, where his family lives. His mother, Allison Jean, gave all of her three children Biblical middle names. Botham Jean’s middle name was Shem, who was a son of Noah. Brandt’s middle name is Samuel, after a prophet in the Old Testament.

Let’s be honest, forgiveness is hard to accept. It’s truly hard. It’s not easy. It’s not simple. Every time when we church folks take communion every 1st Sunday of the month, we read a passage from our hymnals that deal with the words: “In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!” And many of us repeat the words to one another and say the same thing. Many of us had prayers in circles that we ask God for forgiveness no matter what act of intent was done. No matter if it was taken out of context or whatever. Hear me when I say and everyone knows: GOD KNOWS ALL! How many of us who ever been bullied in school NEVER FORGAVE anyone that tormented you all those years? How many of us got bullied on the job, in a club, organizations, and many others that never EVER FORGAVE that person or persons for what they have done? (Male or Female) How many of us NEVER FORGAVE that pastor, church member, or that fraternity/sorority member, or supporter or leader, or any other person not mentioning that still burns your blood even to this very day, and DOES NOT DESERVE any type of forgiveness? Now we are getting somewhere! Yeah, lets go folks. It’s go time! As a matter of fact, I brought this up before on this blog years back.

Now getting back to Amber Guyger who is about to be in jail for 10 years killing Botham Jean in his Apartment in Texas by minding his own business, was the central point of the incident. And Botham Jean’s Brother, Brandt gave her a hug that many felt was a trap for White Supremacy. Brandt is 18 years old. He’s young. And yet, he’ll have alot to learn in his later years about being black and being questioned about his faith and beliefs in regarding his hug on Amber Guyger. His mother, meanwhile commented that his son did his honorable thing, but also commented via her husband that “it may have consequences”. Uh-Oh! That is part many need to know in this subject. Even I didn’t expect this. Part of this is the truth, whether we admit it or not. So where do I stand in all this? Well, it’s on pins and needles. Part of me is saying, I don’t know about this one. The woman again shot an innocent bystander in his apartment for God’s sake and we should let this go? I know that we are supposed to forgive, but the act needs to be in question. Many might forgive the person of Amber Guyger, but many darn sure will not forgive of forget the act of crimes that was committed against Botham Jean by allowing her to kill a black man in his own home. And to follow up, Botham Jean’s life did indeed matter.

And also, the struggle continues! This however, is not over. So, in this case don’t go burying the hatchet yet. And make sure that person and you come together and actually work out the details to move forward. If it doesn’t happen, there is no deal. However, if there is a deal and if there is a part to be sure, then make that decision.

Welcome to the first My Take the New Year. Or it states that many don’t want to begin this in a fashion on TV that dealt with Trauma.

Spolier Alert: Trauma is not new. I’ll clarify on why it is.

Throughout our history growing up in various circumstances, the issue of Trauma really hits us early. No matter if it’s in the family, neighborhoods, churches, jobs, or any other matter of speaking that many already know. Traumatic experiences come in many forms. Many examples and many angles. We all read about them and we all summarize it and usually don’t have answers. We don’t have ideas to convey the solutions at times. But there are some solutions that can cope with the valor of the effects of Trauma. In 2018, my home church had the third installment of Trauma that was about Healing the Family. And one of the speakers, laid in very well detailed information about trauma ranging from Slavery, to family conflicts, and the haunting memories of the pain and suffering about the use of trauma that stays hidden, but the wounds open up years later during adulthood. The speaker said over and over again: “Trauma is not new!” It’s not!

There were several clauses that compelled the issue of trauma ranging from Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, Racism and Oppression, Stockholm Syndrome Traumatic Bonding, Psycho-Physical Trauma, and Psychological Warfare, just to name a few. And what does this have to do with the black community? Part of this is not new in the black community because many of us know this very well. And it ties into today’s era that many are still scared to talk about. But why???? Is it fate? Is it going to break the family apart forever? Or is it just happenstance? And many wonder why it’s so hard to break that pain of traumatic stress NOW!

Speaking of that, there was a special that was aired on the Lifetime Channel regarding R. Kelly: Surviving R. Kelly. This special aired on three consecutive nights that the women in the special had all their say or commentary about their experiences in regarding R. Kelly. Many have said over and over again that R. Kelly had “sexual advances” towards the young girls over and over many times. And even “marrying and sexual advancing” the late great Aaliyah. Which was a false statement. As I’m watching this, many had to be like why it took this long for the women, who were traumatized by all this pain and suffering had to be succumbed to stay silent and tell their sides of the stories later on as adults? Why do the women who had to sit in front of the camera tearing up are doing this? I get it that it has hit hard on them, and many had to feel for them, but many are asking, why now? Why not then?

Many had to keep quiet about the secrets. Many had to keep quiet about the claims, or the backdoor politics to allow the alleged to walk scot free. Yes, many claimed that R. Kelly probably told the women of now, girls then to keep their mouths shut and never break a word to anyone getting all hyper-emotional years later. Well, guess what, their silence is broken. Plus in all the long traumatic commentary, it seems that also that many are calling this foul ball: It’s all fake, trying to get money, trying to be famous or just yet just want to exploit the real deal about R. Kelly that many feel it’s false. Or speaking of that, many black women and black men are actually defending R. Kelly! Are you kidding me?!!! And not only that, many folks whom have Spotify, probably logging in so many times to play R. Kelly’s music in positive aspects. But these are the folks whom probably don’t care, they are still going to play his music, watch his videos online (music videos) in all. And many still are doing it. I have some of R. Kelly’s music in my collection and I haven’t played them in a long while. Just never did. I just left them alone.

When I looked at all the segments, it brought me back to all the talk about Trauma and the effects of it. The women in the special had a traumatic reaction from the past and it’s something that they can’t shake. Many also had to ask, what compelled R. Kelly to do these things that many are assuming or believing? What is causing the matter of this to occur so many times before? Was this done to him when he was younger growing up in Chicago? As a matter of fact, when he was younger according to a previously recorded footage in the special, he was sexually approached. By one of his sisters! He said it! And he also said that it was a common thing in his family. So what do we have here is a long mental health problem. A Psychological Traumatic Problem. A problem being messed up in the community that has been aware for a long time. Especially in the black families!

This sort of reminds me of a old Chris Rock joke; no pun intended. About not leaving the kids with Uncle Johnny. He summarized about those molesting Uncles that many need to watchout for. This probably was about 2004, during his “Never Scared” segment. It may seemed funny in all, but in reality, as everyone knows, it’s the truth!

So why I’m posting about trauma here on the spot? Many of us probably encountered Trauma in various ways. Families, the workplaces, organizations, the Church, and many many different groups and cliques that we associate with EVERYDAY! Even memories being tormented or attacked of ANY KIND, even embarrassed. No matter the feeling or angle it’s all related. So again, Trauma IS NOT NEW!!!!!

And even this has nothing to do with R. Kelly alleged Sex Scandals with the young girls (now adults) you have 800,000 workers in the U.S. Government that can’t get paid due to the crappy stuff about 45’s Wall. They can’t feed their families, getting the bills paid, and any other necessity that folks need everyday. And oh, even the U.S. Coast Guard under the Department of Homeland Security! Talk about TRAUMA! This crap of this so-called president taking away paychecks for a useless wall is just that: USELESS! And this is called Making America Great Again?! For all you 45 Trump Supporters about this, are you happy about this?! And don’t even front.

So yes, this is how 2019 got started, where the ending of 2018 was left undone: devolving the ability to suck out the soul of the middle class. And I know that the new House members are in place. We got a fight on our hands now which is NOT familiar! And as far as R. Kelly is concerned, already he’s feeling the heat of all this scandalous checkered past of the accusers and also recently, Sony has cut ties with him since the #SurvivingRKelly special aired on Cable TV. And about the Spotify rating that got R. Kelly’s music on rotation, I’m scratching my head on that one. Really I am. (Spoiler Alert, there will be a first Scratching my Head of the year)

If these things are not being called out or being mentioned, I’m just saying. The backdoor has been left WIDE OPEN and many folks just come in like it’s nothing. Time to fix it and shut it down!

Happy New Year.

I need to go in on this. Really I do.

By now, everybody knows that recently Starbucks in Philadelphia has been in the news due to the outrage of two African American Men, who work as Realtors were arrested. They didn’t pull no crimes, no mischief. None of that. They were waiting on for a friend of theirs that they met recently. All week, we were looking of the footage of the Philadelphia Police arresting the men and yes, there was outrage and confusion by all this mess:

The main reason for all of this meeting was business. A realtor business! That’s all it was. It was supposed to be a business meeting. In which MANY FOLKS do all the time everyday in restaurants or coffee shops. That’s what it is. But now, it’s clear in the tape or the recorded footage that the men were just arrested for some misguided occurrence. And yes being BLACK in the same city for one: The country’s Birthday was started and two, the same Football team won a thing called a Superbowl.

Yes: Philly!

While many of us were in shock and awe about the black men being arrested for waiting on their client, this also got the attention of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. One of the two men is a member and yes when one member of the Divine 9 is in a jam, the whole fraternity is summoned to support his cause. Matter of fact other folks of the Divine 9 should be in SOLID SUPPORT of this brother! No matter if you’re an Alpha, Kappa, Sigma, Iota, AKA, Delta, Sigma Gamma Rho or a Zeta. Period. Put your letters aside, your colors aside, your stepping and get out and SUPPORT THIS BROTHER! Some of you are probably doing this, I want to see MORE of the support. I know you have your beliefs and opinions. I don’t care about that. If I was in your position as a member I would be out there in the trenches helping out! That’s just my opinion.

This is more like the common phrase, buy something or get out. Or that certain line, buy something or go to jail. Don’t tell me if you heard that before.

Another twist in all this: Philly’s Police Commissoner. I’m trying to wrap my head around the thought that the officers who arrested the men, were doing their job at Starbucks. By the way, he’s black.

Then later on couple days, he retracted his statement:

So my question is, WHY THIS NOW?! Seriously! Why was not this clarified? This is what things like this goes wrong. And the misjudgment of the arrest have been made and have been flat out wrong! Just like Starbucks’ manager or now FORMER manager has been flat out wrong just because two black customers were waiting for a colleague and had done nothing wrong! At all. It’s also mindboggling that there are those who feel that Americans get all in their feelings per se in dealing with the act of racism. Let me say this who are so-called Americans and yes NON-Americans just looking at this: Racism is in America’s DNA. And that same Racism is in the DNA it’s also in DNA’s of the non- American Audience. That means racism is international too. Don’t always assume that “Oh, that’s America’s problem.” But again it’s not America’s dilemma!

So for this yes, the CEO of Starbucks by now had to make a statement of what happened. All that backtracking or backpeddling is nothing more than a cop out. It’s like it a way to say, “what I meant to say was…” –

CALLOUT: What are you trying to say?! Back flipping and back peddling will get you no where.

The two men arrested got out of course, and also telling their stories about being detained for a client. And oh guess what? Starbucks will close most of their 8,000 plus locations in the country will close for Racial-bias training. Yep, you read that right: “Racial-Bias Training”. Now I need to ask what would be the conclusion and objective from this training? What would that accomplish? Another question is, why is only Starbucks closing for one day? Why aren’t the other businesses who have a history of dissing black clients and customers either local or national closing up for one day for the same ideals of “racial bias training” for the employees? Even the local bars and clubs who likely to cater and counter the corner church every weekend. Guess what, it’s a business! And every business no matter if you’re national owned, local owned, or self employed under contract all deserves the same training.

So guess what, by now we know that Starbucks learned their lessons. Partially. But will the lessons stick after May 29th? Only time will tell.

But you’ll enjoy the lattes, right?

Ok, I need to say something about this. Women, and those women who read my stuff, quick question: have you really had a blessed International Women’s Day? I’ll leave that up to you to ponder.

My emphasis is really focused on your day being asked the same tired question about this: “When is International Men’s Day?”

Oh don’t lie. Many of us dudes and yes some of you females been asking about a day that is set aside for the men to rejoice of being recognized. Yes I’m talking to you! We’ve seen it over and over again: November 19th. Annually. Every single year. And yet we get mad. Wanna get mad? Get mad and vote out the Republican fools that follow the “Make America Great Again” stuff. And yes Women, in regarding this, some of you probably voted or rooted for Trump in 2016. Tried to tell you.

Now let lay in the horn on the whining. Why was there was “whining” about a International Men’s Day on the International Women’s Day of March 8th?! Taking a deep thought breath here. I can list two to four:

1) Information is Power.

2) Folks are searching for knowledge. Repeated knowledge that many know.

3) Folks really want to know.

And 4) Google and Wikipedia are really a rally source that many don’t access or choose.

There are choices here. I did a Google search here without falling off the cliff last year. I saved my energy for saving of searching for an International Men’s Day. And also I realized that the International Men’s Day does have a website. Matter of fact, here it is:

http://www.internationalmensday.com/

And the theme for 2018: “Positive Male Role Models”.

From the website, these are the objectives:

Objectives of International Men’s Day include a focus on men’s and boy’s health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality, and highlighting positive male role models. It is an occasion for men to celebrate their achievements and contributions, in particular their contributions to community, family, marriage, and child care while highlighting the discrimination against them.

Okay…what else?

According to the website, this year in regarding Positive Male Role Models”.

Many boys today don’t know what it means to be a man because they don’t have a man in their lives. Sadly, children will go to bed tonight without saying goodnight to their father because he just isn’t there.

Nearly one-fourth of America’s children live in mother-only families. These frightening statistics are similar to a lessor or greater extent the world over.

More than likely, a woman teaches them at school and at home. So, where do they see and interact with positive male role models? Or, how do the boys learn what it means to be a man? Television? Movies? Internet? On the street?

Even in homes where the father is present, research shows that the average father spends less than 10 minutes a day one-on-one with his child. In our society, emotional and spiritual fatherlessness is becoming the norm. Many of today’s fathers did not have positive role models to show them how to be a father, so they are not there to show their children what it means to be a father.

No matter how great a mother is, she cannot replace what a father provides to a child. Irrefutable research shows that mothers are typically nurturing, soft, gentle, comforting, protective and emotional. Fathers tend to encourage risk-taking and to be challenging, prodding, loud, playful and physical. Children need a balance of protection and reasonable risk-taking. If a positive male role model isn’t around, there is a void in this child’s life. Children without positive male role models are more likely to be involved in criminal activity, premarital sexual activity, do poorer in school and participate in unhealthy activities.

Studies have shown that involvement of a father or a positive male role model has profound effects on children. Father-child interaction promotes a child’s physical well-being, perceptual ability and competency for relating with others. Furthermore, these children demonstrate greater ability to take initiative and evidence self-control.

Okay….So how can men of any kind be more in the lives of children, especially with no kids that they want to support?

Via the website:

  • Encourage positive male role model involvement in your child’s life if you’re a mum. (Mother)

  • If you’re a non-custodial dad, make the effort to visit with your children more often. You can also be very intentional about teaching them important life lessons.

  • If you are an educator, encourage fathers to be more active in the classroom.

  • You can influence the lives of children in your community be being a positive male role model.

  • Faith-based institutions and programs can bring fathers together with their children. Additionally, they can encourage male role models to engage children in their sphere of influence.

  • If you are a community leader use International Men’s Day on 19 November 2018 to celebrate Positive Male Role Models and give awards for the same.

  • Business leaders can encourage employee involvement in community efforts with children. For example, you can promote mentoring with organizations like Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, youth groups, Boys Club or Girls, Inc.

More from the site:

The November IMD is a significant date as it interfaces the popular ‘Movember‘ charity event and also with Universal Children’s Day on Nov 20 with which IMD forms a 48 hour celebration of men and children respectively, and of the special relationships they share.

The ability to sacrifice your needs on behalf of others is fundamental to manhood, as is honor. Manhood rites of passage the world over recognize the importance of sacrifice in the development of Manhood.

Men make sacrifices everyday in their place of work, in their role as husbands and fathers, for their families, for their friends, for their communities and for their nation. International Men’s Day is an opportunity for people everywhere of goodwill to appreciate and celebrate the men in their lives and the contribution they make to society for the greater good of all.

Methods of commemorating International Men’s Day have included public seminars, conferences, festivals and fundraisers, classroom activities at schools, radio and television programs, Church observances, and peaceful displays and marches. The manner of observing this annual day is optional; any organizations are welcome to host their own events and any appropriate forums can be used.

Does this sound like an idea? We see this all the time, but this is more on a international level regarding all men. No matter with kids or not.  International Men’s Day is the youngest of the two. This was started in 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago. International Men’s Day is young. It’s a young international holiday that highlights the achievements and accomplishments of Men in the world.

Now many are probably (AGAIN) joking around and want poke the bear about the day that is way young than International Women’s Day.  It’s kind of obvious that there are those who want to know about the day of International Men, but have NO IDEA what the day is about. Where as International Women’s Day comes every year and yes WOMEN, some of you have no idea why you have Women’s Rights. That’s the main reason right there!

And I, unlike those who didn’t  advised me, I had to do my homework on my own. I had to research International Men’s Day on my own. And I had to summarize International Men’s Day ON MY OWN. NO male and NO female never told me to do this. But as a Man, A black man born in America, I had to do my study time and to familiarize myself about this 19th Day of November. We know that this day for us Americans ties in with the Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln.

But on a black history level courtesy of BlackAmerica.com:

Even though this date in black history has little or no effect on International Men’s Day, but there are other events that happened on this day before a thought of a International Men’s Day had ever been thought about.

I’m glad that now, that there is an International Men’s Day that us MEN can actually take an opportunity in to talk about our concerns, joys, problems, and to be celebrated for what we do. And even though there are naysayers and haters on both men and women who feel the equality thing should be all the time, it’s not. The haters who call some men, whinny or bitter of asking the same tired question without reason are just haters themselves. They don’t give enough information. All they tell you was or is “November 19th.” That’s it. And no other reasons why. I’m a type of person wants to know “what else happens on this November 19th day” that we should about besides the infamous International Men’s Day.  That is missing! The homework of that is not finished.

Someone (a female mind you) suggested that International Men’s Day should be a day to highlight concerns or something that men really care about. And she’s right. And also it ties in the “Movember”awareness of men’s health awareness. And originally, voting. (For us Americans who vote in November).

For all the mean tweets, stop it. You all ready know. That goes for BOTH men and women!

From the Time and Date Website: Representatives from organizations such as the UN expressed support for the event, although it is not an official UN observance. A petition has called for the UN to make International Men’s Day an official UN observance in the interest of equality.

CALLOUT: Gents, we got to hype up our day in about 8 months. Get prepared RIGHT NOW! And keep pushing the thought of International Men’s Day on the calendar!

Let’s start this right now.

2017 has gotten off to a start in which many are not happy with Kim Burrell. If those who haven’t heard of her, she’s been in the news about her commentary about the gay folks being tricked into being gay. We’re going in this today! And the reasons behind it. And yes, Church folks, whether you like it or not, this issue of being silent and not saying anything but THANK YOU JESUS or Hallelujah must be put out the pasture. And I’m saying this as a Active Church Member! We need to stop being afraid of this! Enough of this hidden mess.

Before any of this starts, let’s review again about this speech Kim Burrell made in her church:

And I’m sure many got the hot seat about her stance on “hating Gays” and all that false statements. Oh wait speaking of that, listen to this:

Ok here is what I don’t understand. When a church-like person/Gospel Singer like Kim Burrell talked about the TRUTH in which many think it’s a hateful speech, even in 2017 which A year don’t matter: why are all these folks are scared to death to admit it that it’s part of the truth that they don’t want to mess with, but rather curl hide for that matter?!

Oh I’m sure many in the media and yes Ellen’s show probably saw the clip of the sermon that Kim spoken on, but never fully FULLY heard the entire speech, and the full length of the speech! Whoever has the full sermon online, POST THAT! PLEASE!

My take on this, and this is my first take of 2017, is this: maybe for those who called out Kim Burrell needs to look in themselves and ask WHY she said that. What was up with the line of she stated that those in homosexual lives or somewhat that it was delusional, or tricked per se in getting into the life style? Oh, you don’t want to talk about that! And yes I’ll agree to a point of what Janelle Monae said about the same line that white folks always say about “we all bleed the same color” comment. BUT many of us who bleed that color red, have different blood types, and different blood cells that aren’t all equal with that!

Let’s be real!

We all remember a time or two that we’ve been (stop me if you heard this one) hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray, fooled, lied to, cheated on, or been cheated on, been casted out, or my favorite, ostricized all because of a lifestyle, a change, a preference, or any other concern. Think about all those times in school, your church, your jobs, that time you had to be someone’s stepping stone in a Fraternity or Sorority, or just a way to fit in like everyone else of not getting picked on. I would think that there are some who probably got tricked in being in the lifestyle that Kim Burrell talked about. Oh, let’s go there. And for the record, who said that she wanted the Gays to be dead in 2017 anyway? Folks just love to stir up false narratives! Especially those on Fake News who well…post it on Social Media. As they say: The devil is a liar!

So how do we solve this matter?

That will take a long matter to solve. We know this. And it’s not going to take a magic bullet to think that it’s going away in one fatal swoop. The fact of the matter is, many or some don’t want to have this. They would  rather remain silent about this and it might ruin another era or Generation that many want to suceed or be better. Well let me say this: in regarding the church per se about the talk about homosexuality or the negative effects about the LGBT, let’s talk. Both sides need to talk. You can shout back and forth online or by texting all you want, but you really need to talk about this matter! If the most or some of the LGBT per se are about the issues that concerns them, and they all get assembled in full force, why NOT about Black issues or Black Concerns like the killings, or maybe to help improve the BLACK CHURCH? I don’t see much of the LGBT’s per se out there backing the support of Black issues that they need to tap into. Of course that there are those whom are Gay or Lesbian or Transgender whom are on the supportive front about the issues of Black Concerns. Yes we can talk about Baynard Rustin whom was a cog in the part of the March on Washington in which we all know that Martin Luther King was apart of. WE KNOW!

CALLOUT: But where are the new Baynard Rustin’s in the Black Community, or the in the Black Church right now?

But in between, for you the free-thinking, Lesbian, Gay, Multi-Conscious, and many those who think that what Kim Burrell said was harsh: maybe you need to review with those in asking why the spirit of homosexuality can be at times deceptive or tricky. Maybe alot of you don’t like what she said, but just actually LISTEN what she had to really say. And vice versa. Many of you probably under 40 don’t really care about church-like lessons that are everyday values to summarize, BUT if I were you and I’m just saying now: just try to LISTEN UP!

And many of us that what Bill Cosby said was harsh back in 2004 about the black community didn’t hold up their end of the deal after “I Have A Dream” but many realized, he was telling the truth in his point of view.

 Message sent!

I thought I would never say this today.

Between 2017 and 2021, there will be a harsh reality that a guy like Donald Trump and those voting up for him in anguish against the Obama Crew all this time is really coming to light. And those of us that wanted to stay home and not exercising our right to vote is also that the rules haven’t sunk in enough. Well guess what ladies and gentlemen, THEY HAVE SUNK IN! For you Millennials or Blacks who haven’t voted or those who needed a reminder (after writing in Daffy Duck or Elmer Fudd) that Elections Have Consequences. You will hear that again. And again. And again.

This is like losing a championship in the big game. Really it does.

Looking at Hillary. I know she tried. Lord knows she tried. But I would like know is why she didn’t come to Wisconsin when she was campaigning? I know Chelsea, Tim Kaine, and others have been here. But why wasn’t SHE HERE?! Why wasn’t the Clinton campaign wasn’t going to the doors knocking, emails, public meetings, mobilizing,  and signing up those that wanted to vote up? Specifically here in Wisconsin?!

Trump was in Wisconsin more than once. The airwaves were up. He was spending money like crazy. Not much for Hillary.

CALLOUT: Remember when  Obama was running? Get used to saying that.

Remember when Obama was running and the folks were out in droves? Turnout was high as hell, and folks were also enthused to get to the polls. Going door to door, and everything. And it kept going and going. That machine was working. It was kicking butt and taking names! Plus a new way of politics was born under the birth of the Obama Crew.

But why not for Hillary and Tim Kaine? I think that has to be examined. As well as for the Democratic base and connections.I think also the so-called third party is to blame. Just like Ralph Nader took some of the votes from Al Gore and John Kerry. Oh I know you remember that, huh?!  That Clinton machine though, even though we know it well, it was not working. I respect her service, but it was not enough. Not enough.

But oh no! Not even a close one.

And the list of Donald Trump’s demands though. Most of that might be gone.

Affordable Care Act: it might be over.

Executive Orders that Obama had: Over.

This is like removing Obama from historical assets. All this work in the last 8 years might be in serious jeopardy. It’s a problem!  That’s like we partied so much but forgot to save the money for the nest egg.

So to say this: This really sucks. When I was working the polls on Election Day, I observed the people coming in and out. All of the 13 hours from sun up and sun down at my old High School. And it was my 10th Year serving. But when I looked at the results of the Official Turnout, that was part of it that wasn’t as sharp. It was a low medium turnout. Not a lot of people didn’t show up to vote. I know many heavily voted early. But the last minute surge wasn’t on point. And this is supposed to be a Presidential Election? REALLY?!! Why the low turnout?! That ain’t cool with me. Sorry! Especially in Wisconsin that got Trump the W.

All that energy, was just gone.

You have these women, these white women the most favoring Trump, after what he said about grappling vaginas in a sexual abuse manner: Disturbing. Even hating against Muslims, Mexicans and that wall and African-Americans. Most of the men with degrees and high school diplomas (white men) also favored Trump. All those who polled and asked: “who are you going to vote for?” I’ll bet your bottom dollar, the respondents probably lied in thinking Clinton, but favoring Trump. And voting for him. And again getting the W. And the issue of Voter Suppression still lingers.

So what happens now? What really happens now? What needs to be done?

First: EVERY Election future race must be examined. The city, county, state must NOT be overlooked. Period.

Second as we know: the Presidential Election must not be slept over. NOT EVER!

Third: The Clinton Machine that was working in the 90’s needs to retire. But I want to see a new machine that can grow again and also be unstoppable that can be better for the Democrats. Can Chelsea do this? I’m looking at her to be that new cog in that NEW Clinton Machine. Maybe Bernie can help out. Knowing he could. And don’t think that the Obama Machine is at far behind to be redesigned. Just wait haters.

Fourth: The DNC needs to retool, restock, retrain, and reload with new fresh talent. Not just the same old thing, but again: NEW FRESH TALENT! From the city alderman to the number one contender to the White House. Plus, the DNC needs to TALK THINK AND DO with African-Americans. That needs to be cleaned up.

Fifth: The black folks can not be shut out. Period. No matter who or what. Black folks: we need to let the upcoming administration know that no matter what happens, he will be examined. That’s like saying if Trump F’s UP his game as President: get on him. Just like when Obama said about accountability. I don’t care if you are a hard nosed Republican fan that shout N*gger words in public. Yeah I said it. Many of you will be saying it around that Thanksgiving Day Holiday and your co workers plus that individual you didn’t like.  You the Trump Republican fans: You better hold him accountable in everything he does! Folks will be watching his every move. If he messes up: get on his case. If you don’t, others will. That is a promise. Even the German Challencelor had a not so friendly advice to Trump. Germany, as an American (whom did not vote for Trump) you have my international permission to hold Donald Trump accountable! And that goes for our allies as well. And no, I’m not running to Canada. I’ll visit Canada though.  Plus also, black folks we need to get back to be real voters again. Not protest voters. REAL voters! We need to access our own businesses, our own economic status to improve, and build our time honored tradtions to get US to stay in the game. Even if we need to go into our own businesses if the so-called businesses don’t want us because we’re that one word: Black. Now for you non-blacks, you may think this is a racist remark, but to us, it’s the truth that many will not tell you. And some of you are married or worked with black folks.

Sixth: I was listening to WNOV this morning. And there was question about who will represent the Black Community in the Trump era? Black folks: Look to our Senators, Our Congressmen or Congresswomen. Our Alderpersons, regional leaders whom are black. Here in Milwaukee: We got just to name a few, Senator Lena Taylor, State Representative Jason Fields, Congresswomen Gwen Moore, Alderwomen Chantia Lewis and Milele Coggs, Alderman Ashanti Hamilton, Alderman Khalif Rainey, Alderman Cavalier Johnson, Alderman Russell Stamper II, County Supervisors: Marcelia Nicholson, Supreme Moore Omokunde, and Willie Johnson Jr. And no, I’m not putting Sheriff David Clarke on the list because I think now we in the community are waking up with the real truth about him. He’s not what he says he is. He don’t qualify.  Other black leaders like Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Shelia Jackson-Lee, and other well known black officials must not be overlooked either that can be viable to represent.

Seventh: We know that Donald Trump’s inauguration is in January. Of course we know. But just watch Obama’s last remarks.

Eight: Younger folks whom are 18-25 and love my blog, you need to realize that voting does matter. It matters when you register, actually get the ballot, vote your choices, and get a sticker. Plus also, you have to be engaged,  educate your issues, concerns and many others. Many of you should have done that! If you didn’t vote, that is on YOU! You should have voted but instead worrying about the  water in Michigan, tons of unemployment in Milwaukee or the ongoing saga of innocent black men slaughtered by the police, or the  ongoing thing of HealthCare for others, you must be waking up dumb! Oh, Donald Trump talked about stop and frisk nationwide. Law and Order. If a racist cop pulls you over and the deadly frisk happens: DON’T SAY I DIDN’T WARN YOU! These new laws that the new upcoming administration would do would be far more deadlier than your expensive smartphone. Get your minds right quick! This is no game! It’s not a joke.

Yes, many of us are sad and scared. We need to be afraid. There is no telling what Donald Trump might do first, next or last. We won’t know if any of our allies would be able to trust our intellect, our civil rights, our employment, our education, our right to choose, our right to marry, our healthcare needs and wants, our trust, borderline neighborhoods, the small town, the big city, a new red state, or the same old blue state, or if anyone is bright enough, yes like Dr. King once said, we got some difficult days ahead. We got through the mess of Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, trying to get over the junk of Scott Walker, and now, soon to be: this guy.

By the way: The Struggle Continues.
