Now I know that the Milwaukee Brewers are having a heck of a season. They are. And reached 50 plus wins in the NL Central. Oh yeah it’s positive vibes.

But that’s the good news. The bad? Josh Hader. If anyone paid attention to the recent All Star Game in which the National Team lost, there was a report about Josh Hader using racial terms, or messages on all things: Twitter. There was messages of “White Power” and hating gays and many others. Seriously. And he was 17 years old. A teenager. When I saw the footage about him making that appearance to the mound, and the fans making the standing ovation, that to me is a problem. How can any fans in Baseball, especially majority white, give a guy like Josh Hader a standing ovation after his racist remarks? This looks very bad and disturbing. Especially for the Milwaukee Brewers Organization.

Many are saying, “he was 17 years old”. And saying this on social media. Of course, that the old heads kept saying that be careful what you post. Even I said this! Josh Hader is getting that lesson right now even in the City of Milwaukee that we all know that it’s segregated. Do majority of the white folks who come to Miller Park or any other comes to Milwaukee Special Events knows about the segregated checkered past? They better. Now I know that I’m getting a reaction of like “yes we know”. But we don’t know enough. Have I’ve been discriminated against my black skin in Wisconsin? Yes. I’ve explained it over and over again about being hated on for a job offer through Dresser Waukesha 8 years ago. It will be 8 years next month in August when I got that letter from Tallahassee, Florida about black folks not being hired by the company due to it’s checkered past of racism in the Greater Milwaukee Area. This is one of the reasons why I don’t usually respond to job postings as much because of this matter. Of course many companies will say, “we don’t discriminate against anyone based on race, creed, class, gender, etc.” But do many companies actually feel this way? Let’s be honest, not all of them. But there are those whom are jealous about a applicant that they just looked up on LinkedIn or Facebook who had all the credentials and being passed over all because he or she was black or highly educated. That’s why we have folks like Scott Walker and Donald Trump whom have all that White Privilege and I dare say, racist angles in office. And majority of the voters put them in office. And I’ll bet many who put them in office, don’t want a guy like Mahlon Mitchell per se in the race to be the next Wisconsin Governor. To me, I’m still betting on Mahlon to get a chance to steal this shocker to get the chair in Madison. But that’s another story.

Long time ago in Church, my older sister once said about being careful what you say during a Youth Moment segment. Even she also said if it was in the second grade. By looking at the racist tweet from age 17, Josh Hader had to be in high school as either a junior or senior. Go figure.

If any of the African-American players on the Brewers whom like Eric Thames, Lorenzo Cain, or Keon Braxton said some messages of hate on Social Media, they will be GONE! Out of the picture or banned! And many will be asking why that is. For Josh Hader, he will be getting the full “Ethnic Sensitivity Treatment Classes” on respecting cultures in all. It’s kind of interesting, that the Milwaukee Brewers in August are having a theme night event called African-American Heritage Night on August 3rd, in commemorating the Negro League Tribute to the Milwaukee Bears, whom at one time were apart of the city’s history that was long forgotten. When I saw the comments on Facebook, there were some “jerk offs” had to ask about, when is Polish American Night happening, or making some meaningless jokes about black culture. I’m not kidding. And many don’t realize that the problem in Major League Baseball is the diversity that not enough black folks are engaged with the game. Unlike Football or Basketball. Wait until football season starts either NCAA or yes the NFL. Just wait. And also that Heritage Night is day before of the newly Black Arts Fest MKE will be debuted at Summerfest after a 5 year absence of no African World Festival in the city.

Another thing comes to mind that the same week that Josh Hader’s racist tweets had surfaced, guess what? Hulk Hogan was reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame in the same week! For those whom may have forgotten, Hulk Hogan was suspended for three years from the company’s Hall of Fame Status due to the fact that he was caught using the N word in regarding the thought of someone who would date his daughter Brooke. And oh, the firestorm had started. Forget about Hollywood Hulk Hogan with the nWo Heel Turn, this was Hulk Hogan or Terry Bolea using the N word and getting caught red handed out for that. When he was reinstated after three years, last week yes he wanted to make things right, but not every black WWE Superstar ranging from The New Day to Titus O’Neill didn’t somewhat approve of him being back. Except for Mark Henry whom is a newly inducted WWE Hall of Famer.

But the fact of the matter is, Hogan had to get right with himself about what he said. Maybe, just maybe that Josh Hader should do the same. And oh, it will not take a week. But the sting still remains in regarding to talk about race in all angles even in sports and entertainment. The jury on both is still out. As well as accountability.

Yes, I knew I was going to write this. We all know about the comedic talk host shrill effect of Bill Maher. We all know.

And yes, on the blog here: we will talk about the N-Word yet again, and why it has gotten out of control. As a matter of fact, it’s been out of control since day one. As I was reading the “cliff notes” about what Bill said to the Republican Representative from Nebraska, about the use of discrimination or use of slavery related stories, and out comes the words: “I’m a house n*gger.” Out of the words of Bill Maher. But here’s the kicker: he said the N*gger before and turned to the audience, “Oh F*** you!” in a comedic fashion he knows.  We get it.

However in a sense of me asking this, why would Bill Maher, use a demonic word of N*gger, and being this ally against the antics of Donald Trump (oops, I mean 45)? Many have called to have Bill Maher removed from HBO in the wake of his recent outburst of the N-Bomb. And this also, many have favored him and support him due to give him a pass.  As in “Oh that’s just Bill Maher. He may say something crazy against those in the church, but we still like him”.

Yeah. But. Still.

If Bill Maher is such against those in the church as an atheist as he is, why did he invited Nuns and a minister on his show to talk about the current events? Call it what………backpedalling perhaps?

Back in the days of the “Politically Incorrect on ABC” yes there were issues that made the screen. Even having Bill saying the N-word 11 times when Anne-Marie Johnson was a guest. But what got Bill Maher fired from the network, was something that he said sometime after 9/11 as we know. And yes, he was terminated. But got resurrected by HBO with his “Real Time” hourly show to pick up where he left off.

But of course: Yeah. But. Still. Of course many had called him out on his head. From the right, the left, Roland Martin all because of the word that had many of the black community already knows that it’s dumb. There was a time that Hulk Hogan used the N-word and many called him a racist. But there were those whom are friends of the Hulkster and black, defended him. Not only just saying the N-Word but also using it as an example to defend his daughter.

By now, yet again here comes this question: who gets to use the N-Word, and who doesn’t? And should Rappers (mostly in a Gangsta related) eliminate it from the vocabulary? We have a local radio personality here in Milwaukee that comes on in the afternoons online, and the expression comes up in the example: “N*ggas, Blacks, African-Americans, or whatever you choose to call yourself”.  Here’s the reason: Some folks want to be called N*ggas. Some want to be called Blacks. And some want to be called African-Americans. But as far as wanting to be called “N*ggas”, ok it’s a choice but it’s a dumb choice of degrading oneself.

Knowing that he’s on trial, Bill Cosby asked the question in Milwaukee in 2004: “Are there any N*ggers here?” He went in about the use of the word in music, dancing to it in all, and also asking why it’s still relevant now. Even when the kids are listening to it when big brother or sister is at the job. Or when someone from school brings it to the class secretly and then others listen to it and so on. Oh we know, Generation X.

Speaking of that, Black-ish had a episode about the N-word in which the character Jack was doing a talent show dance. And it was a Kanye West song, “Gold Digger”. In one of the phrases, Jack says the N-word and gets suspended from school. And yes there was a discussion on why it’s was inappropriate, and the discussion goes back to Andre’s days (Anthony Anderson) when the new use of the word N*gga was popping up. But even Pops (played by Laurence Fishburne) had to school him to a point.

With that being all this said: Many of us need to be careful how certain words or phrased context that is being put out. Of course. We have the right to say what we feel. After all, Freedom of Speech is a right. BUT HOWEVER it’s also an accountability. It’s also a responsibility. Yes dwellers, it’s also a responsibility that we have to go through. It’s like you said it, it’s on you. Not society. Not the Whiteman, or the Black Hotep Conscious Woman. It’s ON YOU!  Even you  “Keyboard Gangsters” that like to write those pointless memes that ruin College Opportunities or taking swipes at those whom like to educate and summarize but being stuck up in your own lifestyle that well, make others miss.

Do you or anyone knows what this is actually reminds me of? Loving America. We all have some love of the country in some capacity like the Freedom of Speech, free religion, or busting out your dance moves that seems objective but good. But when it comes to the bad situations like slavery accountability, racism, shootings against innocent blacks, not getting the job or the house or the car because the ongoing bigotry that many of us American folk should know. MAINLY African-Americans!

  • You say you love Bill Maher, call him out on his comments about House N*gger.
  • You say you love rap music, call it out on the lyrics that desensitizes Women, Children, and other concerns.
  • You follow these activists and their beliefs, but never call them out of their problems that you hate!
  • You say you love Distance Education and claim to understand it, but there are those who will attack you because you don’t go to class in person.
  • You say you love Public Schools or Education, but never show love afterwards.
  • You say you love Black Men: but some black men whom are fathers don’t see our kids. And claiming to be no good at all since the start overall growing up.
  • You say you love Black Women, but some of the black women need to be called out for the long hate against men that you thought that wouldn’t marry you since high school or the same educational level as you!
  • You say you love the church. Ok, but what about the real deal why SOME churches that turn against their beliefs? And many that don’t?
  • You claim not to be a racist, but still spew out words that closely that has racist implications.

Do you see the parallels here?! This is what I’m talking about. If many of us don’t see this, WE ARE THE PROBLEM! But many of us don’t want to hold the other the accountability that we know. We don’t want to hurt the feelings in all, but still tell the truth!

Word is that on Friday that yes, Bill Maher will be on his show, and yes Ice Cube will be one of his guests.  Implications? That remains to be seen.

We are shocked, Warriors!!!!!!!

The Ultimate Warrior, born Jim Hellwig was 54 years of age at the time of his passing. Most of us recently saw him being inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame, and having that last Monday Night Raw appearance addressing the WWE Universe in New Orleans. The news of the death has been circulating recently on Social Media and also regular Internet. For that, this blog letter is for us:

To us Wresting Fans of the Ultimate Warrior, and fans alike:

It’s me Stephen. You all know. Black blogger. Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

We have had a good week of wrestling. And a concern week of wrestling. We all know that the Streak was broken. Not going to address that as usual. We are here to remember and to reflect on a different streak. The streak of life. The streak life of the Ultimate Warrior. Many of us in the mid-80’s and 90’s all remember well of the WWE (then WWF) Superstar legend used to come down to the ring in blazing speed, circling the ring, shaking the ropes, the strands tied to his biceps, unleashing his energy on the crowd and his opponents.

His calling of his speech promos: SPEAK TO ME, WARRIORS!!!!! (and also a snort)

No matter what he said in his philosophical style of dialect, that seemed at the time was like saying, dude was getting smart to fight. He was. He used that in my opinion to psyche himself up, charge himself up and either win or lose, he was ready. As far as the angles: Not only he had the match with Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 6, which was dubbed “The Ultimate Challenge”, he also had angles with Randy Savage at one point at SummerSlam 1992 and WrestleMania 7.  Here In Milwaukee that I remember, he whooped Jerry “The King” Lawler in 1996 at the old Mecca Arena, which at the time was his coming back to the organization. And yes, he was in WCW in the angle of his OWN (one warrior nation) against the stable of the New World Order.

The angle I truly remember sticking out the most: It’s two. For those who still have the WWE Network on point,  or Youtube, review the angle he had with Jake “The Snake” Roberts in trying to find out about the Undertaker’s Secrets. Most of us should remember that. For those that don’t know what the heck I said, let me break out the cliff notes. In one scene (if you watch) you might see a cemetery scene when the Warrior asked to be buried in a grave and having a skull to watch. And in another, Jake The Snake takes Warrior to a room. But this is NO ordinary room. Jake and Warrior enter the room full of snakes. I WISH I WERE KIDDING. If my memory is correct, Warrior sees a casket in the center of the room, he tries to open it but another of the snakes, Lucifer, in the room caught onto the warrior in a biting manner, and he slumps back against the floor in the doorway. And also, mysteriously, The Undertaker and Paul Bearer appeared and a evil grin on The Snake, was standing over the doorway. Don’t believe me? Look at it. And also don’t forget about the angle he had against Papa Shango. Who later became Kama, The Godfather, The Goodfather and etc. Learn your wrestling history, young bucks. And I think there was another angle story with the Warrior’s casket in confronting The Undertaker as well.

Plus also, he made an appearance on the Arsenio Hall Show back in 1990, promoting WrestleMania, and also his bout with Hulk Hogan.

Many of us remember the DVD, “The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior.” In the DVD, there were superstars former and current that commented about the Warrior’s matches and angles. However that same DVD also caught the Warrior’s attention. He didn’t like it. Also the then “rumored death” of him and his brother came to take his place in wresting, that was talked about. But the Warrior on that story struck down that rumor being false. He was the Warrior. He didn’t die at the time. Crazy Stories. We all know.

Finally, as I stated earlier in the blog about his last appearance on Monday Night Raw. Even though he didn’t run to the ring, although he was in a suit and tie. Plus he had on a Warrior overcoat that he used to wear similar way back, shaking the top rope, and to hear him being in that old-school character with the Warrior mask on was noting priceless. In his last promo, he addressed about a man’s life going out. Many of us have already seen it and even in this time of remembrance it’s now legit.

Now to us, his death has come to a shock of turn of human events. And I know that there are those who feel like and I know this is going to get around, “Why has his death news has been important? What about those who die everyday, and even our troops who died in battle? Where is their last words on TV?!!” Don’t get me started on that. When a death is announced, of course those will come together. Those will comment more. Those will feel like it’s being overshadowed because my son, daughter, best friend or many other’s death didn’t get the recognition like the Ultimate Warrior’s passing.

To that I say this: B.S.!!!!

When folks die, they die! When folks pass on, those that remember; will remember that person of what that person did to influence. I had folks I knew died quickly. And they weren’t famous. But they were famous to me of what they stood for! And did I had a relative with a t-shirt with the face on it? Yes. So why are we tripping?

In closing, for the sake of the wrestling fans and those who have grown up wresting, and went in and out: Even though that Jim Hellwig is no longer here. And even the thought that his image of the Ultimate Warrior is no longer to reappear, he is still an influence that will be talked about for many years to come. No question many of us have an Ultimate Warrior influence to withstand all things or many things that get in our way. We don’t have to dress like him to do it, but as sure we can recognize going out without the use of fear and standing up to the cruel world we live in. Warrior ran his race for 54 years. He’s done.

Now, after all the burial, memories, remembrance, and many others, we still have to continue to fight on as if he were leading.
