Oh, is it Independence Day? The day of the 1776 that many were “partying?” Oh yes, it’s July 4th. The 242nd Anniversary of the Independence. And yes like before, we can celebrate in all. Plus I dare say to comment this: The Struggle Continues!

Why do I keep saying, The Struggle Continues? I keep it as a reminder that no matter what happens in life and in our daily lives, the struggle of the ideas, objectives, faith, financial, manhood, womanhood, your sexual preference, voting ideas, marital status, and other things we hold dear like a musket still continues with this struggle. Even being black and conscious about our black-selves is a struggle EVERYDAY.

Black folks: we know that already that a day like this may or may not favor us likewise. When this day of Independence was established as we know, our people was not partying like everyone else. Others may ask why, we know that SLAVERY and BONDAGE were a factor of us not celebrating the fireworks. It took 89 years, (that’s right 89 years) for us to have our share of freedom when Juneteenth Day was created. For you the non-black audience this is part of history that many (and MANY) slept over. We get caught up in the hype and we forget that there were cracks in the ground that didn’t get covered. Think about this, the next 4th of July Holiday will be in 2019. The same 2019 when we will summarize the last slaves arrived from Africa in 1619. We’re talking on the real: 400 years. We will be saying 400 years alot next year. But when that happens, we’ll recognize it and surely it will be summarized that will make 45’s hair snap out! We can talk about the use of Patriotism in the country. But for us Black folks here me when I say this: We are Patriots too! When someone on our social media folks says that black people aren’t patriots, they are lying. We are patriots due to the speaking out of Police Brutality. We are patriots speaking out on our Black Lives Matter every time! We speakout on the hate on us being denied of jobs, homes, assistance of medical and finance, where to shop, having our say of education, voting, innocent lives getting killed, and many others with the moniker “Amerikkka” in all in the addressing the thought and issues and concerns about this country that really affects us! We have to address it! And the reason being because is if anyone is not going to address our issues, we have to do it. That is OUR patriotic duty as citizens to upkeep the words that Dr. King once said as an example: “Be true what you say on paper!” That is just not being patriotic in our way, but it’s also being held accountable for the things and issues that get put out there! Yeah, we have a patriotism in our own right. And you don’t necessarily have to wave the Red, White and Blue all the time. The real patriotism is in your heart and your viewpoints. I just had to say that.

Frederick Douglass even questioned that when he asked, “What to the slave is the 4th of July? Martin Luther King even ask that question more than just “I Have A Dream”. Rosa Parks even asked about that question when hanging a banner about those being lynched. Malcolm X was questioning that very often about the formality of Black Excellence/Nationalism being questioned along with peace and freedom. And many countless others said the same thing whom were and are African-American and having the balls to do it. In his last 4th of July as President, Barack Obama commented about “imperfections in our union”. And he was right. And still there are imperfections today that still need to be tackled right now.

Currently, we are still speaking out. Even Rep. Maxine Waters of California still criticized the antics of Donald Trump. Yes, Auntie Maxine is speaking the truth like it or not. And many can hate all they want. Even some Democrats need to shut up and listen of what’s really going on. And oh, they and others want to her to stop talking that jazz and having civility. You want to talk about civility?! And all that talk about her inciting violence? What a joke! The real joke is the 45 acts of stupidity. The real joke of seeing that stars and stripes side by side with the North Korean Flag which almost make me puke. The real joke is hating on Harley-Davidson Motorcycles for the criticisms about this American made product that is Milwaukee Born being some of the jobs being shipped overseas and of course some of the employees probably favored Trump. Plus would this act stains the 115th Anniversary? And even rolling back the ideas that Barack Obama placed regarding the Affordable Care Act, College Admissions and others were classified as a joke for Trump. And all that so-called “Make America Great Again” stuff is nothing more that a fake revolution to bring to light. It’s a farce! Even separating families at the border for no apparent reason. And black folks we know the feeling of separation as many times explained how our people were on auction blocks being sold into slavery. And generations in the future are putting the links together to assemble our family trees.

Why I am saying this on a day like today? Why many are saying, “Stephen this is our country’s birthday. Leave it alone”. WHY?! Come on, now! I am like a Patriot that is addressing the concerns that many are afraid to touch just like everyone else. And no I’m not hating the Vets like many of you. My father served in the Vietnam War, an UNPOPULAR WAR mind you that was hated by many. This year would have reflected 50 years since he came home from Vietnam and when he got back, he like many others were disrespected by being called “baby killers” from the same folks who probably then waved the flag for support. Even though that the Vietnam Vets that I know and knew served in the was that wasn’t all that, they still served, period! And now 50 years later, they are just getting their just due for service. Well, I need to ask where was that love for them 50 year ago when they returned? I’m just asking and saying at the same time.

Despite of all this, yes we are lucky to have this time. But however we also recognize that it has not been easy. We have to grind every time to get to our objectives and goals. We can still be bold of our Independence but we still have alot of work to do. Even with this crazy So-called President that many right are realizing that Hillary might have been a better choice. There are many of us have been saying it. But……like Roland Martin says on Twitter: #WeTriedToTellYa!

So with all that, we still got work to do. We still got to weed out the wickedness that plagues us very badly. What that means is we got to do better. Like former VP Joe Biden once said that America is a better country that this. We can be better and will be better. Not just with a catch phrase. But with the actions behind it.

Well, as they say: The Struggle Continues!

Oh, you know I had to do it. Last year I did this and got rave reviews. But I kept it real. Last year for Black History Month, I scratched my head. Now this year, its a repeat. With new updated questions that kept my head scratching since. But for this, it’s for Black History Month 2018. Buckle up! I’m not pulling no punches!

Question: is this statement still relevant? With no substance? Let’s be real. Seriously!

BET has a new show for the black brothers called Mancave. Yes, a black man’s show featuring Tank, Jeff Johnson, Kosine and Slink. They talk about the current affairs of news that goes on. But I have a question: why are you females are watching it? Y’all got Sister Circle on TVONE! No females in the Mancave. I’m just saying!

Is black news really missing NewsOne Now since it got canceled?

Why are folks late reading stuff? Especially about black history? And what I have written?

If Black History is really supposed to be “American History”, why there are some school districts don’t want to hear our history?

Spoiler Alert: Not all Black History is American History! It’s not! Other countries have a Black History too. (Canada, England, France, Italy, Jamaica, Haiti, etc.) Any questions?

Attention Black Authors: we write about our history as well our stories. Past and Present. Does it really matter we do it more?

Again: if we are to supposed to acknowledge our black history everyday, why don’t we at times? Oh were at the lines waiting for the Air Jordans to drop or non big issues that we forget that is meaningless at times. Or were just not engaged!

Black Churches: we have a lot of black history to share up. From the founding of our churches to community involvement. Does it still matter today despite of those hating or assuming that we’re just about the money or praying in circles/tongues? Or going out to eat after the sermon?

Every February 7th, it’s National Black HIV Awareness Day. Want to know the reason?

This week was the start of the original Negro History Week that was the prelude to Black History Month currently. Some ask what was the reason? They should know by now.

Do Black Superheroes Matter? We know Black Panther is coming and Black Lightning is on TV. Either way, black superheroes are winning.

Does Black Archiving Matter? Ask yourself if you are a black historian of any kind.

Does Black Employment Matter? And I’m not talking about just owning your business!

10 years ago, am I the only one followed the momentum when Barack Obama was gaining to be the first black president?

For my Alumni Black Educators and Family! Does forming or being involved in a Black Alumni Chapter really matters to us? Especially at the PWI Schools that have or had minor population of black students with Black Student Unions? By the way: ALL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES who don’t have an Black Alumni Chapter need to start one!

For my Military Black Families and Black Veterans, and Families of Black Veterans: Do we matter? After all, many of our Fathers, Grandfathers, Uncles, Aunts, Mothers, Cousins, Grandmothers, etc all have a history of serving in Uniform that is part of the tradition since the American Revolution. Even in times when America didn’t love us back! Keep up other folks.

I need to ask this: How many African-American Sons and Daughters right now are apart of the American Legion Family? I need to ask this for real! And how many actually don’t know what the American Legion Family is whom have or had Veterans in the family that lived or died?

For those saying Black Future Month, you know the things you doing now will be history, right? Not trying to spoil the parade here.

So folks want to make a joke about Black History Month as a punch line to pop off at the mouth for hate. Ummm…..so many don’t do it around Hispanic Heritage Month or Women’s History Month?

Recently in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, one my local journalist commented about former Interim Mayor Marvin Pratt about the city not having a full term mayor of African-American decent. If you know Milwaukee historically, majority of the Mayors are white and known to have popularity. Why does Milwaukee’s problem with black mayors of ideas have a concern? And the city is 172 years old with a segregated past and present.

When ABC’s Scandal is done, and it’s the last season, what ranking will the show be on the best list concerning black television?

There was a indication of Black Slave traders that sold their own into slavery and also managed the slaves. True or False?

Who’s looking forward watching Black Olympians in the Winter Games? You know they are in Korea. Oh, and by the way: Shani Davis is in competition.

Here in Wisconsin, one candidate of the democrats is African-American named Mahlon Mitchell. Could he be the man to take out Scott Walker? Better vote up, Wisconsin!

In Wisconsin: what is the Black Community’s real response to Foxconn? Mainly for those who don’t have their own transportation!

If you are woke and black, you need to see this clip over and over again. Why you ask?

It seems that every year that those who say “I’m black every month” is probably bored around Black History Month. What are the reasons? Are we not engaged enough? What is the problem? We still don’t know everything as we know some to say at least.

For my Black Motorcycle Riders: is the Iron Elite still on point for Harley-Davidson? And are you coming to Milwaukee for HD’s 115th Anniversary in the Summer?

You non-Black folks: as you explore Black History, you realize that not every black folk is considered a thug or a N*gger, right? Many of us were raised way better than that.

Which current African-Americans in the companies is the best OWNER and Supervisor right now that is making history? And got the inspiration from those that MADE HISTORY?

Who were and are the best UNSUNG Blacks Heroes that never got any recognition that deserved recognition right now?

Bonus question:  In honor of those whom are not here with us, which of our Black Ancestors were a beacon to have us move forward in life and career?

And the last question: yes we know this question, do we believe that Black Excellence is still available and hopeful?

Happy Black History Month!

Always.

As many know that it’s Inauguration Day here in the United States. And yes, it was Barack Obama’s last day on the job as President of the United States.

And yes, I didn’t watch the Inauguration itself because I wasn’t interested in the thought and yes, Donald Trump is the 45th President of the United States. And no, I am NOT a fan of Donald Trump. Never have been, never will be. Just keeping it real!

But as of today, when the now former President Barack Obama addressed the staffers today, yes it was an official address, the short version. But still, Barack is not going away. He’s going to keep working and this is why:

Like many before him, there is a thing it’s called Foundations. Presidential Libraries. Ongoing donations. Just about 3 years ago, when Obama won the second term, there was conversations about the OFA as we know. Plus also, the Obama Foundation was established. So now, the Obama Foundation is formed and it’s also revamped with stories, clips, and of course the best ofs when it came to the Obama Biden Crew.

So if any of us Obama Fans want to continue to follow along for next couple of eras to come, check out the link and continue to get the updates just in case.

Oh, just to add: many of the links to @POTUS, @VP, @FLOTUS, @WhiteHouse and others under the now previous administration are upgraded. If you are not a Donald Trump Fan do this: unfollow the links, and follow @POTUS44 @FLOTUS44 @VP44 and @ObamaWhiteHouse.

Plus for the administration members like Valerie Jarrett, her old twitter account is @vj44. Still, follow her at @ValerieJarrett.

Matter of fact, speaking of @ObamaWhiteHouse, you can still view something like this:

Save it for reference!

For many of us, it’s the last leg for President Barack Obama and Family. He will always be a type of President that many will talk about for years to come.

HOWEVER: there are those who felt that he didn’t do enough or should have been more on the Black Community over the Gays, Women, and many others. Of course, we can talk about the times that the Republicans REFUSED to have the vote in, the ACA, jobs, and world issues. And of course we can talk about the many many times that some goober talked about “YOU LIE” and many other hate angles. Oh, including that Mitch McConnell said that he would be a one term president. We know that bullet was dodged.

So today, being that it’s the day that we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. And the hopes that many WILL learn besides the dream. King wasn’t always about I Have A Dream. More on that later. With today being for MLK, I’m shifting the focus on the past 8 years that America Had it’s Black President for real and for the yahoos, racists, haters, sellouts, and wackos who felt he didn’t deserve it: YES HE DID!

Who thought that the 8 years was so positive for Obama?

Did the Republicans really succeed badly when they decided to go against Obama?

Why did the “Blue Dog” Democrats had sold out?

They say that Obama was a socialist. REALLY?!

When was the day that Obama had to really defend himself?

Many of you must have forgotten that Barack got a Nobel Peace Prize, right?

Oh for the forgotten doors: Why so much has been asked what he had done? Another reason why Americans have some short memory spans. And I’m not talking about the older folks. Younger folks don’t remember much either. SAD!

So the soon-to-be President Donald Trump had Barack to produce his Birth Certificate and many had followed. You do realize that was a dumb move, right?

Why did Fox News feared Barack’s middle name “Hussein”?

Oh when the time that Osama Bin Laden was killed, were you  or anyone else cheering along with the President’s decision then?

For you: the Tea Party jack offs: Why so racist? Like really!

Has EVERY COLLEGE really had to dig deep about the degrees and jobs that Obama made a declaration to check on?

Has EVERY ORGANIZATION of Debt, or Credit Checks, really assigned themselves well after a few changes when OBAMA made that declaration?

Oh let’s talk education again: specifically community colleges. Have many of us realized that Community Colleges cannot be slept on? Also like science fairs for the kids?

For all you conspirators and jack offs: why making all this mess about him wanting to be killed?

For all you Michelle Obama haters: yeah those kept those so called “ape in heels”, or “she should act more First Lady Like” or like Wisconsin Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner said something about her having a big butt, or others making ridiculous comments about her outfits or just her in general  that weren’t as lady like: Do you ALL realize that you sounded so stupid after making those remarks, and many of you probably don’t have jobs now?

For all you Sasha and Malia Haters: you know that ignorance is a mitch, right?!

And folks, were we so overboarded when Sasha wasn’t at her father’s last speech?

And also: that time when Malia was at Lollapalooza in Chicago and yes she was being a normal carefree teen at 18. But did we really OVERREACT that much?  Yes, Malia will learn accountability as she grows up. 18 doesn’t mean much that well per se.

What about Malia taking a year off before starting college? Should all High School Graduates follow that same procedure?

Did the losers like John McCain and Mitt Romney actually learned their lessons after losing to Barack in 2008 and 2012?

Did Black Entertainment really rocked when Obama was in office?

Did Hip Hop really rocked when Obama was in office? So many Obama references in rap songs like crazy.

For all of the black media: BET, TVOne, Podcasts, Social Media sites, Newspapers, Radio Shows, Magazines, Blogs, Articles, and more: was all that appreciated of the JOLT of Confidence by our work to archive for the Obama-Biden Crew?

For all of the black businesses that printed up Obama T-shirts, hats, buttons, sweaters, jackets, in all: Can we do more of that even after Obama is not in office?

For all the black supporters that backed Obama since DAY ONE: did we really back him up other than hearing the speeches?

For all the black churches that invited Obama to speak: was it good?

For all of the Joe Biden haters: have you disregarded him too much?

Joe Biden was the huge F-ing deal as VP. Agree or Disagree?

Yes, Barack and Joe had the bromance thing going. We know. But others are asking why and how. Really?

Obamacare was the jolt for healthcare. Why are those wanting to kill it for those who want to be insured, get checked, pay less, etc?

For those whom are major confused: Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act are the same thing! Why is that so hard?

Did anyone of us got lucky when we can finally take pictures IN THE WHITE HOUSE?

Why do republicans as much want to erase everything that Obama did like he never existed? Hate does come into play.

CALLOUT: For all of my conscious, hotep, and sometimes not connectable black people: what was it that Obama wanted to do for us?

CALLOUT: For all of my conscious, hotep, and sometimes not connectable black people: what was it that Obama should have done for us besides well, being President of the United States?

CALLOUT: For all of my conscious, hotep, and sometimes not connectable black people: did we really partied that much in these 8 years?

CALLOUT: For all of my conscious, hotep, and sometimes not connectable black people that didn’t do enough: why are we mad now that Donald Trump is going in? EXPLAIN! Put down the Hidden Colors and Dr. Umar Johnson speeches for a moment. Just explain why.

CALLOUT: For all of my conscious, hotep, and sometimes not connectable black people that didn’t vote (as well as everyone else): REALLY?

For all the international folks, can you really remind us that Obama was the best thing that America had since Kennedy or Bill Clinton?

CALLOUT: For the international folks that hated Obama. Called him a monkey and all that mess, you realize that your racism is just as deadly as America, right? And you know who you are. Don’t front!

For the racists: You really think that Black Lives Matter was linked with Obama all this time?

About that 60% approval rating though. Really? Yeah really though.

For all the gun freaks: were you really that scared that Barack was coming for your Guns way after the gun issues were handed out? Oh, he Skeet Shooted at Camp David with a rifle. Hmmmm………..

For the misinformed that were way too misinformed about Obama: when will you get your facts straight? Besides him where he was born, got his education, his teachings, his first jobs, etc!

For the doubters: have you underestimated Obama by a slight margin?  Or should I say a big margin?

Who is getting Obama’s book when it comes out in the near future?

Anyone is still or will continue to donate to OFA and/or My Brother’s Keeper? And the female groups?

Did GM rocked the house after the bail out for jobs? Plus the jobs that bounced back to positive digits?

What group of folks are still hating on Community Organizers? Don’t front!

Will this President inspire those to run for office, especially of color?

Will the Obama-Biden Crew continue to be a force that no one can NEVER EVER overstep or deny

And the last question. After 8 years, one term in Illinois: Will you miss “the hell “out of President Barack Hussein Obama II? Admit the guilt.

By now, the final leg to Christmas is here. Many are out getting gifts or making that donation popping. But whatever it is, it’s almost the day in which grandma’s house will be visited, light speed to the tree will be at full throttle. The anticipation of the excitement once again that this Holy Day of Jesus’ birth is mysterious, but is the greatest holiday of all time.

But like before: I still got questions!

For all of us December born males, does this matter?

il_340x270-972723658_5ydx

Does us in the Sagittarius game have a plan that things will be better? Keep slinging the arrows.♐♐♐♐

Did I had a good birthday on December 5th? Celebrating that 40th Milestone? ♐

OK hold up: who is really watching the Hallmark Christmas Movies?🎄❄🎄❄

Again I need to ask, are there other stories to read? Time to bust the bubble. Literally.

Not lame but I only see a few African Americans in these Hallmark Christmas Shows. Why is that?

Will you really miss Obama after this SNL Christmas Skit?

In history, the Green Bay Packers are so Dangerous in December. True?

So the Electoral College (as from those who hate it) should be abolished. Um did the EC actually worked when Obama got elected?

Milwaukee, remember we Generation X folks had all this fun? Read this article from one of our black radio hosts from WNOV on OnMilwaukee.com.

Who really gets the Christmas Gifts: those who have nothing or those who have been in the struggle?

Will fake news actually disappear from Facebook, Google or any other news outlet that has real news?

What was the really stories that captured 2016? More on that later.

With all the snow jobs lately, should there be a reduction in taxes? And should there be snow cycles for fun and at a cheap price?

Is DirecTV Now holding up well? I may need to subscribe.

With some of the black population supporting Donald Trump, what will be outcome of what they think they might get, knowing that part of it will get screwed?

With all the Christmas stuff now coming down percentage-wise, is it wise NOW to get them for next year?

They say that the females have to take over for the men for doctor appointments. My question is, are these the same type of females that really hate men? Be real ladies.💊

You black queens say you love us black kings. Can you takes us out to lunch or dinner or a movie that YOU will be paying? Don’t just say you love us, show it!🍴

I know this might be old, but what is it about black women or certain type of black women who have this hate on black men who date other races? I mean I’m just asking what is the hold up on it? And where is the “hate” coming from?

I have to ask this also: those of us in America is thinking about moving to Canada, due to Trump’s win. What’s in Canada?

YAHOO: What is wrong with you?!

Many should realize that Canada does have racism like America almost, right?

Should the Greater Milwaukee Area get a Hard Rock Café (not the Casino due to Walker’s dumb decision) in order to get Milwaukee on the map more? THINK on this Milwaukee. Hate going to other cities for the Hard Rock fun!

What is real hate against Obamacare?

By the end of 2016, will you really have all those 2017 resolutions in tact, knowing that many of us WILL NOT due all the things on that list? (lose weight, stop smoking, find this and that…..)

Should Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke be fired for all those deaths in County Jail?

You do realize that when new years comes, you have to start filing taxes right? TAX TIME BALLERS! 💸

Oh, many don’t know, but 2017 is a mini voting year? Not for President, but look in your communities.

Why is the Salvation Army having a hard time with the kettle donations?

Should all NFL or celebs dive in the Salvation Army kettle for the donations?

So there are those still are at war on Christmas. For what pry-tell reason why? Bitterness perhaps?

So Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa will all start and end by New Years Day. Questions?

Will us Sagittarius folks keep slinging the arrows everyday? Now that our season is in the books! ♐♐♐♐♐♐

OK last question: and this is for all the cold snow haters. If you are one of the many that hate cold weather so much, then why you don’t say much about………Hot weather?  Just wait until Spring/Summer 17. I’ll hold you to that.

So, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Feliz Navidad to all. 🎄❄🎄❄🎄❄🎁

I’m just going to let loose. This is the last “Scratching my head all this time” thing. Actually its the last story in my 30’s. But don’t worry since this is the 12th month and the birthday is on December 5th, yes I’m going to keep writing when the 40’s happen and yes there will be a SPECIAL Sagittarius Check in for all of us Sags born between November 22nd and December 21st. So with that, I’m cutting to the chase right now!

Since when did the real racists have a say when Donald Trump became president?

Have many stopped sleeping on the Wisconsin Badgers Football Squad? Oh, yes they lost to Michigan and Ohio State, but guess what Michigan fans, no disrespect, but your squad got beat by IOWA! And you’re crying about a tiebreaker with Jim Harbaugh’s rants about refs. Hold up, he needs to look in the mirror when his then-49ers torched the Packers with crooked zebras!

Can the Packers really “Run the Tables” in another attempt to get to the playoffs? Run the Tables, Relax and Chill fellow cheeseheads. #GoPackGo

If the Badgers win the B1G Championship over Penn State, is there a STRONGER WAY to get to the Rose Bowl and actually WIN IT?

Is 40 the new 20 like many said?

Hey Sagittarians: It’s still our season. Are we having fun or what?

Now Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke might be a potential pick for Trump’s Homeland Security Position. BUT you know that he had folks die in jail without water this year, right?

Milwaukee is now a Blue City in a RED STATE. How will this workout, as if many times before?

Remember when Colin Kaepernick was kneeling  during the Anthem? Why didn’t he vote?

Why is it that the NES Classic Edition is so hard to find AT WALMART? But when you go to Gamestop and try to buy it for $80.00. REALLY?!!

Is Amazon Fire Stick TV really the business?

Last year, the Coloring Books for us grown folks were a hot seller. What’s next to come back for the Christmas season for the grown and mature? And it’s not just the VR machines.

This year, we all heard about DirecTV Now. 100+ Channels for 35 bucks. Now here is my question: Can us on the DirecTV thing who are sick and tired of paying about $100.00+ per month can actually be traded to pay something less cheaper with the new DirecTV Now?

Did anyone actually were thankful by reading my Be Thankful blog for Thanksgiving?

Here’s something to scratch on: What about those who say don’t buy anything during the holidays, but those who will buy the items anyway?

Yes I agree that Black Dollars Matter. Which really it does. But whom is having a hard time understanding that?

This past Tuesday was Giving Tuesday. Who donated to their Alumni Groups?

What is the biggest stigma of misunderstanding of when turning 40?

OK I have to scratch this one: Many are saying that Luke Cage, Sons of Anarchy or others are better than Empire. Look I can respect everyone’s opinions, but what’s better than Luke Cage or Sons of Anarchy? Monday Night Raw?! Black-ish? I have to say this: the next couple of shows coming out, will be better than Luke Cage or them other shows. Mark my words.

What about them Milwaukee Bucks so far? Don’t sleep!

You know that the Nintendo Switch is coming out like next spring, right?

We got those lists coming out for 2017. Are we going to follow it?

Who is really hooked on those Hallmark Christmas shows right now? Come on now, please confess to Father Stephen! Admit your confession!

Will this year be the best Christmas ever? Since Obama is leaving office next month.

Speaking of that: Will you really miss Obama?

What will be your BEST and WORST of 2016?

Have the Introverts really got respect?

Why has 2016 had NO CHILL when famous most recently have passed on?

Who was the real deal in Milwaukee this year? No I’m not picking Sheriff David Clarke.

Who was the real deal in Wisconsin this year? Nope sorry Scott Walker!

Since Christmas is coming as usual: Who is the real Scrooge you know that needs a butt kicking right now?! Go get those three spirits.

Since 2016 had no chill, what about the unemployment and the underemployed of black men and women had NO CHILL all along?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: has anyone caught those who murdered that college student near my Alma Mater of UW-Stout?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: what about the still health concerns about black folks?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: What is the deal of the same ol’ tired stigmas about black on black crime that the “you know whos” had to bring up when police shootings happen?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: what was up with cultural black organizations had to shut down due to funding in America?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Why did those who say they were for Hillary, but were backing Donald Trump?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: who is really having a hard time finding work? Especially in Milwaukee?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Why there are those who feel that ALL CHURCHES are about money?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Who is the biggest hypocrite? Those whom do church, or the job, or the streetfolks?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: what will the black folks who voted for Donald Trump will actually get in his 100 days in office, or 4 years? Not much!

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Why is Wisconsin’s rural areas have the stigmas about city folks?

Do you realize that leaving one place to another might have implications of seeing the same old racism yet again?

Most of us are still reeling from this so-called election where hardly no one voted up enough. Who is really at fault for NOT VOTING? And will this not carry over in 2018?

Speaking of 2018, will this be the last year of Sheriff David Clarke and Scott Walker?

AND the last question before I turn 40: Will you or might you believe that anything is possible to go hard even further?  Despite anything?

Bonus Question: Should the blogging I do should be added to the Milwaukee category on WordPress? I looked at that and it’s completely DRY!

There will be more coming out.

Ok. It’s a three way dance that it’s long awaited. This dance though, is so legit that will make the old school dances come back like killer clowns on Halloween. But anyway: it’s on. Take a number and just relax.

First on the card: Peter Feigin, the President of the Milwaukee Bucks made headlines recently on the comments he made about Milwaukee.

And he quotes the following statement:

Very bluntly, Milwaukee is the most segregated, racist place I’ve ever experienced in my life. It just is a place that is antiquated. It is in desperate need of repair and has happened for a long, long time. One of our messages and one of our goals is to lead by example.

Well. He’s telling the truth.

This is coming from the President of the Milwaukee Bucks, that was stated in a Rotary Meeting in Madison. My question is, why is there are those who felt shocked and appalled by what he said? If anyone knows the city like a book, it’s a well known factor that the city of the Good Land does have factors about segregation and racism and those factors have been so examined too many times. It’s the truth! And I don’t think that Peter should not have backed away or peddled away from his statement! Folks, I know what Peter Feigin may have said that must have set off fire alarms. But there is no denying that those alarms about the ongoing struggle of segregation in a city that was founded by three socialist mayors like Solomon Juneau, Byron Kilbourn and George Walker, and with the Festivals, the Brewers, Summerfest, and countless others.Yes Milwaukee’s ongoing problem with segregation still lingers. It’s not just black and white, anyone else of any ethnicity can be felt segregated while struggle. So I don’t feel that Peter Feigin shouldn’t be guilty of stating an ongoing problem that plagues the city. We in the city that are life long Milwaukeeans: we know. You former Milwaukee Residents that moved and never came back or rarely make visits, I’ll agree that you also know. Even if you rarely visit if you live in the suburbs, or Madison. But know this, the issue of this problem is not just Milwaukee, it’s all over the place. Sorry for the Spoiler Alert, but racism is in America’s DNA. No matter how scary it is. Is there segregation in Atlanta? Chicago? What about the Twin Cities? Texas? Or another well known city like NYC or Miami? Or a well known spot internationally? Come on now! Tell the truth! Even though the big whigs don’t want to admit it, but it IS the truth! Folks can back track all they want. Or tell those “dont’ bring that up!  Just do your job and don’t discuss it”. And for those who picked this up in New York, Chicago, MSN Websites, and many others that are a bit shocked on a journal scale, why are you surprised that Milwaukee has this problem?

Stop the pain!

It’s going to get brought up as a CONSTANT reminder that racism exist. It’s real as a headlock. In which I’ll continue more in the second card.

Second card: Yes: real racism does exist.

We all know this. Yesterday, I was listening to The Forum on WNOV. And as I was listening to a segment in regarding racism. We all know that yes, Milwaukee or this instance the Greater Milwaukee Area is no stranger to the effects of Segregation and of course, again racism period. As was listening to the segment, the exact segment about a certain caller whom believed that there is no such thing as “real racism”. After listenting to that one little snippet, this caller must be drunk! SERIOUSLY! And the caller is from West Allis. The same West Allis like where the Wisconsin State Fair is located. And West Allis like the areas of the outliners of the burbs in the area is mostly Republican. But the issue here is RACISM! For all of you callers or speakers whom call into a Black Radio Station clamining that racism doesn’t exist, then you must be AGAIN drunk! I had my experience of racism 6 years ago when I got a letter from Reed vs Dresser in regarding a Civil Rights Case in regarding the issue of the company that DID NOT allow African-American Applicants to train or hire to work for their company! This is true white people! I remember handing in a resume of mine way back around the mid-2000’s  actually 2006 at a job fair in Pewaukee. And also I applied for a job online (on Dresser’s Website) a year later to find work. Then August 2010 came which I got a notice that based on the results of the documented proof, I was one of the 300+ African-Americans that did not got a job based on the fact it was due to racism. So like many others who got that letter, I filled out a form with my detailed info, submitted a copy of my Drivers License in all and mailed both the form and DL Copy to the company in Florida. When October came, in which it was the day after the so-called holiday of Columbus Day, I picked up the mail from my parents house and one of the mail had my name on it. And it was from the Reed vs Dresser company and I was awarded a check of $5,000. I was BLOWN AWAY!!  And all of this was a direct result of me being a job seeker; no a African-American Job Seeker got disrespected all because of racism of looking for a job! In the Greater Milwaukee Area. And you got these so-called white folks who think that racism doesn’t exist. WAKE UP! I’ve mentioned this before on the blog many times, and it’s becoming a still constant reminder about that there are companies here in the area, as well as America that doesn’t want to hire applicants of color! What’s the Plan B in all of this? Either find a job that really doesn’t do the hate thing on hiring, or find your own job by employing yourself. Be your own boss. Be your own CEO. And when you do that, you are doing you. Nothing wrong with that. And your haters who refuse to hire folks of color will be embarrassed. And probably these are the same folks who are in HR are probably those who are doing the “judging hiring” of African-American applicants of not getting in. I’ll bet 40 dollars that is taking place in some of these companies that are looking to be filled with this concern. I told you so! Think I’m joking? Look at the rate of jobs that don’t hardly hire black folks within the last couple of years and that should tell those as proof of evidence. And oh, may I add that those who per se are telling those that there are those in the African-American Community are lazy, don’t want to work, yadda yadda yadda. But when the issue of race and employment (pre employment) comes up via the African-American prospective concern, that is another monster that still needs to be taken down. Even in the year of 2016 and beyond.

Third listing on the card: Millennials, you need to vote up.

For all the Millenials out there, even if you love reading my blog in your classes on your smartphones, I don’t usually ask this but why many of you between 18-34 are not planning to vote in this election? Really, what’s up with that. It’s obvious that yes we face the most difficult election that we know. And yes for President Obama, it’s his last lap as the number 1 guy in The White House. We know! And I know MANY of you probably have mixed bag feelings about the likes of Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Jill Stein and Gary Johnson all want that chair at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I know many of you probably aren’t going to vote because the issues probably don’t match yours. Well Millennials: what are your “Concerns” that is effecting you right now? Yeah hashtag that! Is that Bernie Sanders mantra got you down because you wouldn’t vote up for Hillary? Or are you ACTUALLY believe that non-voting will help your problems? Ummm…..to answer those questions is like being on the wrong side of the fence. Or in this case just making a case of nothing. You Millennial folk who are assuming that voting up will not change nothing or assuming that not voting will make you cool at home: STOP! Please stop thinking what your friends have been saying about voting wont work because IT CAN WORK! Ok so many of you don’t like all or some of the candidates. BIG DEAL! But still you have to make your votes count on the ballot by or on November 8th of this year! You probably have heard or somewhat read it on your smartphone or tablet that well: many men and women fought and died for their right to vote! Even black men and black women (especially to my millennial black folks) FOUGHT HARD to vote and with you not voting is like a slap in the face of Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers, Fannie Lou Hamer, Malcolm X, and many others that all equal rights to voting is on the table and YOUR RIGHT to vote up is included! Frankly, I don’t care about the stances of Hillary, and yes Donald Trump scares me also. If many of you don’t vote, I hate to call you out on this but: many of you are acting selfish. That’s right I said it! Many of you in that age gap are SELFISH that many of you will not cast your vote in this election. Not only it’s selfish, or a slap in the face, but it is the ultimate disrespect that many of you will chose by not voting. On a personal note: SHAMEFUL!

Y’all on these social media sites and texting like crazy on your smartphones, and here you are not voting. Give me a break!

  • Do any of you care about your communities?
  • Do any of you ACTUALLY care about your Healthcare needs? Jobs? Your Alumni? Or that rent? Or those books?
  • Do any of you care about real jobs, not those Burger King/McDonalds/Pick N Save type jobs working for your teenager titles?
  • What about those causes that you ACTUALLY care about? And don’t say the environment only!
  • Do any of you care about the actual donations given?
  • What is it going to take, Millennials? Are you going to sit on Election Day, or WILL YOU ACTUALLY VOTE?!

When I was in your age bracket between 18-35 or 18-34 I voted up. I registered to vote when I was 18 years old in High School. Between 18 years old and now, I know that the use of voting still lingers. I first casted my ballot at 19 and also yes, like many others, Bill Clinton was chosen for his second term. Plus also unlike many who don’t know, I also voted in smaller elections like judges, school board supervisors, mayors, county executives, state legislatures, state senators, city alderpersons, governors, congressmen or congresswomen, referendums, etc. I’ve have done the voting thing since 1996 and I have NOT STOPPED SINCE! Me taking the day off to vote and sit at home is selfish act. You think it’s selfish for not going to the doctor is bad only? Think again!

Millennials, those of you coming after Gen-X like a dark horse: Between now and November 8th and I say this as one of those that got you started: GET OUT AND VOTE!!!! There are no excuses! Nevermind your plans for November 8th, and the post -Obama era, and nevermind about your personal feelings of who’s best and not casting a ballot. I urge all of you 18-35 or whatever TO GET OUT AND VOTE! Period. I don’t know what devil(s) you’re paying attention to, but the devil is a liar!

Hashtag that. I’ll bet you might not.

I was going to wait after the Olympics to blog again. But the reason for this, the Northside of Milwaukee was up in total anger with fires and tension. And to connect with social media for those of where to go and meetup and havoc. How stupid.

I had to break away from watching the Olympics in which was a historical performance, to see the ironic tension of looting, fires, deep tension and many other concerns that plagued this city. 44th and Auer is where the shootings started. A 23 year old was shot and killed in the view of the Milwaukee Police Department. And yes after that, all hell broke loose. And a weapon was stolen with 23 shots rang out. And bricks being thrown.

The hell that broke loose, also continued with bus shelters, and street lights near Sherman and Auer were damaged. The BP Gas Station in the same area where a protest happened a month ago: burned. Right near Sherman Park. Further blocks away, more fires happened at a Jet Beauty Store near 35th and Burleigh. Also a O’Reilly Auto Parts in the same area, engulfed in flames. Nearby, a BMO Harris Bank right near my old Middle School had smoke issues in the building . All of this many feel that the black community has not had no love. And the thing is, it’s a warning sign.

Now I know that many had to go in about Milwaukee in which like comparing this riot to a championship win. Or there are those who don’t care about the city and having this shrugging shoulders mixed with pinned up frustrating matters. For all those who think have the answers and are acting foolish, SIT DOWN and Shut up! Clearly those don’t have all the answers. I don’t give a care if you transplanted to Texas or Atlanta or the East Coast, or the West Coast or a well known international region, you’re living there now. But I’ll bet none of you never actually really care about this city known as Milwaukee!

If so, PROVE ME WRONG! Send a long distance donation to your old schools and charitable functions you left behind.

Many of you have this noting about “oh well that’s Milwaukee for you when the violence happens.” Really?! Is that what those think?  Seriously? All you have to do is go on Twitter, Facebook in all and with the negative remarks on the likes of CNN commenters saying “yeah tear down that stuff, you bunch of hoodlums!” If many of you so-called Americans say that, I consider that being unpatriotic! And many folks know it!

Now for those of us here in Milwaukee. Those of us who work, pay our taxes, contribute to our causes, we need to rise more. We need to rise up like a freaking phoenix. We can have the clergy coming out, the community leaders, the fraternity, the sorority, the employed, the unemployed, the underemployed, the neighbor that looks out, the neighborhood leaders, the hardcore activist, the conscious, the not so-conscious, the in between, the Introverted, Extroverted, Ambiverted, the Unsung Heroes, and many other categories: Rise like the Phoenix! It’s time to do it. For the police, firefighters, EMTs, your are in this as well! We pay our taxes, so your salary stays on point.

Just the other day, a day after all the burnings, I took a trip near the corner of Sherman and Burleigh and my reaction to the damage in person of the BP Gas Station was just shocked. The anger. The concern. And began to ask why this. Why would ANYONE like this would destroy a Gas Station?! Why? I went to my Nikon Camera and like everyone else, I snapped about several pictures that was like this:

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee5

And also, if many have not guessed it, a stream of cars on Sherman Boulevard going south and north was nearly jammed packed. The same with vehicles going East on Burleigh Street. Television Trucks of ABC7, WKOW, CNN and many others from the different parts of America came out to cover this tradgey that has sparked my home city’s unrest. Also, there folks preaching the word on Megaphones on both corners. Water was on sale on the corner where Sherman Park is along with individals giving away cupcakes and free hugs.

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee2

As I left the area, I driven North on 44th Street towards Auer Avenue, this was the area that the shooting began. And plus it was nearly jammed packed with cars and also residents and ministers as Salvation Army Chaplians.

The day after, I went further east to take pictures of the 7th District Milwaukee Police Station where it was roped off with Caution tape and boarded up. Also, the BMO Bank was boared up after it was struck by fire. A MetroPCS store was boared up after looting as well as a restaurant of KFC/Taco Bell was broken up with glass. Nearby an O’Reilly AutoParts store was destroyed by fire as well as a Jet Beauty Store not only looted, but also was destroyed by fire as well.

Ladies and Gentlemen of America, this was the experience that Milwaukee endured during that weekend of unrest. And like many others in the past, it was an unrest concern that never should have happened. The Sherman Park Neighborhood is a legendary neighborhood. I know so because my older sister and I used to reside in the area between the years 2000 and 2006. We resided on Grant Boulevard in a church parsonage in which was near Center Street. I used to catch the 22 MCTS bus to go either to work, school, shopping or church. Nearby, there was a barbershop where I used to go to get my haircuts. An organization called ASHA Family Services is in that area along with the Ritz Fish Market near the corner of 38th and Center, and it was and is owned by my family members. My old elementary school, 38th Street School, (now under the Milwaukee College Prep) is in that area. Washington High School, my high school’s rival is in the area. The homes in the area are almost legendary with years going back to about 100 years old. This is what I learned back then and understand now. Plus also, the Sherman Park Neighborhood is an active diverse neighborhood and still is. And plus I’m a northside born resident.

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee10

But I want to go back to this shooting. And I know that many are asking: what compelled this act of shooting that lead to this burning of several buildings, cars, houses, and others that had NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS MATTER?! We know already that Milwaukee is the well known factor of being the most hyper-segregated city in the United States. That is part of the things that goes mostly heard and widely examined in the entire state of Wisconsin. Many have this notion of leaving Milwaukee and go to places like Atlanta just to get away from the violence and racism. And also talking smack about the city in which they failed to help out. Oh trust me, we had a whole lotta folks have felt that way!  But many of us WHO ARE STILL HERE, are upholding our accountabilty of our taxes, our jobs, our way of life, and purpose of being more engaged to solve the problems of our well being. What we have expereinced here most recently, is nothing more what happened 49 years ago before I was born: when Milwaukee had the race riots of 1967 and the black community back then was going up in flames. That area is now called MLK Drive in Bronzeville. And the trauma of being in the predictament of the segregated climate still lingers even today. Not just in Milwaukee. But that same symptom also exist like racism in America’s DNA. I don’t give a crap where you are in America, that racism DNA has not gone away. Even after 240 years.

But in this era, the 23 year old Syville Smith, whom had a CCW Licence, and was armed with a stolen weapon from Waukesha, was shot to death. Nevermind the history of his life, or the crimes he may have done, his killer per se happens to appear as a officer of the Milwaukee Police Department. Many of us in Milwaukee looked at the person’s picture on Facebook. And according to a family member of the victim, it was known that they go way back to High School here in Milwaukee. Try Pulaski High School, and no disrespect to the Pulaski Rams in all. Plus W.E.B. Dubois High School in the Marshall Complex.

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee9

Other points, there are those around Milwaukee should have kept their mouths closed. One of them is Sheriff David Clarke. The reason being he kept hinting about the use of the National Guard to aid the Police Officers during the Unrest incidents. And in his own words having the gaul to blame the single mothers of Milwaukee for the incidents and and of course: Black Lives Matter. REALLY SHERIFF CLARKE?! He must be high on something to say that. And plus, Black Lives Matter or his words “Black Lies Matter” were not the reasons why some buildings in Milwaukee went up in flames. Sheriff Clarke already embarasses himself and Milwaukee County hanging out with the likes of Donald Trump. HOW DEPRESSING OF HIM! Yes he’s still the Sheriff, but in the next two years he and another guy, Scott Walker  MUST BE VOTED OUT! And part of the blame that Sheriff Clarke has his job is because of those in the Black Community voted up for him to have another  4 years. Why? Because he’s black. I think the Black Community needs to rethink their votes for Clarke. Speaking of Walker, dude had to come to a black church in Milwaukee not to far from the BP Gas Station. Let me remind Milwaukee one thing: Walker doesn’t give a da*n about Milwaukee! He doesn’t care about the Black Community, nor the needs. Remember the High Speed Rail Train that was BUILT in the Black Community? Go back to that. That was derailed by HIM due to one word: politics. Now he wants in to be supportive of the Black Community. Really Walker?! Oh please! And additional group of folks outside of the city, who don’t even in live in Milwaukee had the nerve to put the blame on President Barack Obama. Obama is not the blame for this! So stop it non-Milwaukeeans!

But of all of the folks who seemed to be in supportive the most of Milwaukee, is Mayor Tom Barrett. Call me crazy, but he is. Another is the still Wisconsin Senate Rep from the 4th District, Lena Taylor. Ashanti Hamilton, President of the Common Council, Alderman Russell Stamper II, and Alderwoman Chantia Lewis are just a few. The curfew in Milwaukee under 18 is in effect. Sherman Park closes at 6pm and roped off with orange. When it switches to the MPS Curfew starting September 1st that’s every night. And that was activated this past Sunday.

Speaking of Sunday, I was in church and during our “joys and concerns” we highlighted the concerns of the Unrest Issue. One of my millennial church members talked about the incident in which it was witnessed in person. She indicated that her younger brother was about 2 cars behind the shooter’s car going east on Burleigh near the Jet Beauty Store, and indicated that if one of those bullets hit him, he would have been gone. She also comforted an Police Officer near the Beauty Supply Store who was going though that high alertness of concern of another citizen. The last thing she said: God Bless You. And a tear was starting to roll on the Officer. I just had to tell you that because whenever I hear about church folks being all judgmental or acting hypocritical, NOT ALL OF THEM ARE LIKE THIS. And my church member is a single mother in her 20’s.And is a prayer warrior in my church under the United Methodist banner. Is she always like this? Just maybe you need to visit The New St. James Community Church UMC in Milwaukee and find out. And plus the setting of our church is in a County Park Pavilion on Milwaukee’s East Side. And the church is the first African-American United Methodist Church established in the city since 1949.

SSP - PrayforMilwaukee8

Just today, the ATF was sprung into action to survey the damages. And it was announced that a reward of $10,000 for anyone who knew what happened and also those responsible for those alleged damages. For all you snitches in Milwaukee: FESS UP! Don’t go into Stop Snitching Mode like cowards back in the day. Whenever the Federal Government comes on the scene, it’s is a huge concern. The sticks got a whole wide larger than before. This is not a game! It’s real lives were and are still at stake!

Milwaukee is 170 years old. And in the 170 years it faced open gaps of unemployment, segregation, violence, arson, race riots, shootings, festivals going in and out (African World Festival) educational values questioned and answered, underemployment of applicants/jobs, and many other concerns and factors. However in the 170 years, Milwaukee remains a underestimated city that has some good in it. We can talk about Summerfest, the Art Museum, The Pabst Theater, Riverside Theater, the newly soon to be Lakefront Gateway Area, the soon to be Northwestern Mutual Tower, the other festivals that do go past Summerfest, Garfield Days, Juneteenth Day Parades, Bronzeville Arts, riding Bublr Bikes, and soon to be construction of the New Bucks Arena and the Streetcar.

Why has Milwaukee been like this?

It’s not Chicago, Atlanta, LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Texas, Florida, and other cities and states that mostly “knows” black folks. Milwaukee as medium-sized as it is, its well known for Harley-Davidson, MillerCoors, our County Parks, and past relations with being the Beer Capital of the World, Bowling Capital of the world at one time, or known in the past for shows like Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley. Oh, did I mention that The Blues Brothers, Public Enemies, and  Transformers were filmed here? Famous Americans like Bud Selig, Eric Benet, Al Jarreau, Gene Wilder, George Tillman Jr, Charlotte Rae, Speech, Tank were all born here. The Core DJ’s a well known DJ organization is known for DJ’s around the world, but it was started in Milwaukee. Wrestling has a history here. From AWA of Da’ Crusher, to the birth of Austin 3:16. And also currently in the WWE, Austin Aries is a born resident.

Milwaukee does have a Urban Scene that is so underground that is hard to get airplay on a V100, a Jammin 98.3, KISS FM, and others. Also Milwaukee does have some support of it’s genre of Hip Hop, but the fans say that the City has haters because the lack of support. However, not all Milwaukeeans don’t listen to rap music! Some listen to Polka or other genres. But every ethnic group has their own thing.Well known here: Ray Nitti, Rusty P’s, Charles Walker Band, Element, and Coo Coo Cal just to name a few.

For radio, we know WTMJ. But I know 1290 when it was the talk of the town. WNOV as many know us the lone wolf of black radio that many folks still listen to. Plus also there are podcasts, and other radio stations like WUWM that is well known for based on UW-Milwaukee.

Milwaukee to me is misunderstood. Very misunderstood. Our education system isn’t that bad. The Milwaukee Public Schools is legendary around here and it’s the same age as the city.I am a product to call myself an MPS Alum because of the schools of 38th Street School, Jackie Robinson Middle School and John Marshall High School. Not only that, I come from a line of educators that taught in MPS in my family!  Some of our famous folks are MPS Alums also. Our Colleges of the Milwaukee Area Technical College, Mount Mary, Marquette University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee are fully known educational institutions. I’m a product of the Milwaukee Area Technical College which I got an Associates Degree in the year 2000. The program was Printing and Electronic Publishing in which I got my hands dirty in Bindery and Offset Press.

Part of Milwaukee’s history was the tanneries. Pfister and Vogel, Albert & Trostels should ring a bell. And some of our family members used to have those good paying jobs growing up! Now the tanneries are gone, and mostly the Health Care fields are in exchange, with retail, customer service, and some manufacturing are left. Printing was also huge here. It’s still exists under the digital level, but not really enough as it once was.

Milwaukee has some strong programs here that many recognize like the Running Rebels, True Skool, and mostly now known is getting recognition: We Got This. Also part of the strong programs, does have a direct connection with local churches, community counterparts, some well known companies, and neighborhood block watch organizations.

But all in all, like any other city, Milwaukee is not alone with problems. And with the issue of this recent shooting of Syville Smith is not a stranger of gun violence period.

Been on a short break. But I’m back!

First I want to have a question here. What does it take to be conscious? Really conscious? Black conscious? It seems that in today’s era of #blackmalebrillance or #blackgirlmagic that is going around alot. Really alot. However the use of being conscious in my view is a good thing at times, but it can be deadly poison if used inappropriately.

Check this out: I’m on the net last week, and I typed in the word Hotep. If those don’t know what that means, it means “at peace”. Really it does. If the word hotep means at peace, why there are those that abuse the word and getting away with bloody murder? Everytime I go on to Facebook, or Instagram, it’s all these memes that are mostly negative and abusive without any references of information given! And usually I hate to say, really involves black folks. Not all, but a inner circle like that well known. It’s well known that there is all these “truth tellers” that abuse their”conscious” outlooks on those they reach to, and it’s almost they try to draw in to please folks. Almost like they want a certain type of folks to be on their same team of sticking together.

This reminds me of two episodes of the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air back in 1992 and 1993. From the 1992 show, entitled “Those were the days” had an point in the show where the character Marge telling Uncle Phil and the Original Aunt Viv about system doesn’t work, and blowing it down. And later commenting about forgetting that issue. Later on, Uncle Phil had to remind Marge that he was the same person that faced dogs and firehoses, Harlem going up in flames.  He also indicated that he didn’t need to fight in the streets. He used his office to fight from. Ranging from Heathcare, Decent Housing and many others. So there was proof that the “liberation” or in this case the radicalized portion of him still lived in him. Even thought that the times changed since.

The next show in 1993: This time it’s Will and Carlton joining up in a Black Fraternity on Campus. What was that Frat? Phi Beta Gamma. And had the Pledge Leader Top Dog making them and others doing the dirty work. The real climax of the show, came when the word got in that Will got in to the fraternity, but Carlton didn’t.

The reason: Top Dog viewed Carlton as a sellout. You all know the episode scene. Here it is:

So after looking at that, I ask the question: Conscious much? Even that could be a fact of what goes on today. Matter of fact it does. There wasn’t a Hotep moment on this. And I ask again, if Hotep means at peace, why the abuse of the word hotep anyway? If many had understood the reasons why then many shouldn’t get an attitude about it anyway. I’m pro for those who speak their mind in all, BUT many need to know that you have to control it!

SSP_July3rdFireworks2016

Which leads me to this: Happy Birthday, America. All of the 240 years. We know, we know. The same traditional hoiliday got the folks dressing up in the Red, White and Blue, going to the fireworks, kicking back with brats, beer, games, bells, canons, and whistles. And taking the day off to be at the movies, or at the crib. We know right?

And also: Malia Obama turned 18 years old. With being the last 4th for President Obama. And with Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monae.

And yes, the proverbial of the question is this: Should African-Americans celebrate the Fourth? Before answering, there was a time when black folks didn’t celebrate this day due to the fact, slavery was in session. And probably you had this on your Facebook TimeLine: FOURTH OF YOU LIE! Why this you ask? The use of slavery was still in effect in the era of our Compatriots was still in battle against England and King George during the Revolutionary War. And I’ll bet the RBG, Hardcore Black Conscious folks and some Bandwagon Conscious folks had to go in on the Fourth like it was third period French class. But here was the kicker, there were black folks celebrating the fourth yesterday in partaking in the festivities and or cooking up the food in the yards. I read somewhere on Facebook this morning about this black dude in disgust about a black woman wearing a dress that almost resembled an American Flag. I read that and I’m like REALLY?! The commenter who posted that on Facebook actually is upset about a black woman wearing a dress that is Stars and Stripes like. You know what, I’ve seen black men wearing Flag shirts and grill outside of their homes. I’ve seen black workers who had on little make up in Red, White and Blue in freaking Walgreens! Oh check this: I’ve seen a black woman on a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle the stars shirt on in Milwaukee. So my question is what is the haps?!

And having to ask the question, “what are you celebrating?”

CALLOUT: For those asking, let me ask those questioning: What are YOU celebrating? And no, it’s not July 4th related.

So that means that black folks can’t wear flag shirts?

Who is really speaking up for black folks that they can’t wear a certain attire that doesn’t equality with black unity? Let me say this: I freaking hate sagging pants! I hate this control of what I can’t wear or here is my favorite of which style of education is best to go like Distance Education. For example, there were both black and white folks against me and attacked me because I didn’t use the traditional route of going to class. And this thought of me leaving Milwaukee and all this mess. But I still graduated anyway 10 years ago from UW-Stout. Hmmm….. where  is the Black Conscious Unity on that? Where was that yesterday on Facebook while those flooding the News Feeds of the disdain about a holiday that had no regards to include black slaves?!

Of course I know why some of us say “FOURTH OF YOU LIE!” Along with the racism, police brutality and segregation of the country.

So they are telling me that I suppose to celebrate everything black only? In a radical, revolutionary and unapologetically manner? I need those to hear me out on this. Specifically if those use “communications”. Seriously, do I supposed to celebrate lets say, Juneteenth over Independence Day only? Is that what this is? How would those say that about Juneteenth Day as being “FalseTeenth Day” or “Blacks Making a Fool on June 19th Day?” Oh, folks would be upset right? I think it should.

This is not a mockery of Juneteeth nor a mockery of Independence Day.  Both holidays are different and apart by 89 years. But in this sense: I celebrate them both. One of my late relatives’ birthday is on Juneteenth Day. Not fronting on this! Ever year the flags go out in celebration of the holidays in the Summer months and that’s just fine by me. And plus the decorations go out as well. The reason I celebrate the Fourth, is not because of a dare. It’s like a choice appreciation of my services in community. So far I serve in the community for Alumni, Church, and Scholarship for Higher Education. And while we’re at it, lets don’t pretend that this doesn’t make sense because it does! I looked at some of the footages of the Fourth of July Parades in the Milwaukee Area, and I’ve seen a whole lot of white folks pack the parade routes. But I saw also a Sherman Park Parade that had a black woman leading it with marchers, a band, and a short escort with Milwaukee Police Presence in the neighborhood. Recently, the Sherman Park Area was hit with an act of violence prior to the Fourth. But as like anything else there was some life given though in that area. And currently it’s still trying to heal from the previous occurrence.

Whether folks like it or not, there will be blacks that will celebrate the fourth in some sort of way almost like wearing a suit to church or work. But there will be those that don’t. Ok understood. The same with the decorations. Flying the flags, displaying the buntings, hooking up a Star Shower Patriot Laser Light outdoors at night. And the same won’t do any displays that will have an ugly truth. I will agree that there is good and bad in everything.Even with Juneteenth and the 4th.

One last thought about this, yes it’s been about 154 years since Frederick Douglass written “What is the slave mean to the Fourth of July?” And it was addressed to those at the time whom were apart of the Anti-Slavery Movements and yes he did questioned about the day celebrating America’s Independence, while still stomping his viewpoint about those whom were in bondage.Thats like saying “why do you continue to celebrate freedom for this day, and you don’t include my black people?!” Henceforth: Fourth of You Lie, right? Later on figures like Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X all said the same thing in various forms! King summarized “Be true what you say on paper”.

Even President Obama highlighted his commentary on the Fourth:

How incredible – how incredibly lucky we are that people, generations ago, were willing to take up arms and fight for our freedom. And then people, inside this country, understanding that there were imperfections in our union and were willing to keep on fighting on behalf of extending that freedom to all people and not just some.

And the key words was: “There were imperfections in our union” Meaning that America had and has blemishes in it’s 240 year streak. So there were and are faults. Even today as I write this blog yet again.

Makes sense for most, but in the words of a former WWE Wrestler Bad News Barrett: I’m afraid I got some bad news!

For the ultra conscious folks and this period of making folks not celebrate any holiday: You cannot please folks all the time. I’m sorry to say it. There might be those who will celebrate things that aren’t likeable of others. There will be those who will celebrate things that are likeable. There will be those who will celebrate things that are like minded. And others. Even if a person who does dresses like Lady Liberty or Wonder Woman and is a black woman on America’s Birthday! And also does know about the bondage of black slaves that were not celebrating the 4th like everyone else. The same with a black man wearing a Old Navy Flag Shirt, having a plan to decorate the house in all red, white, and blue, and is reminded that the struggle continues as a black man in America. Race included.

So with being said, all stories should be told. And let me end by saying this:

THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES!

And that is my 40th Anniversary of the Bicentennial Minute.

I know I’m not the only one had to glue in to see the sit in by the house democrats. For the last 24 hours, we have seen the members of the House Democrats use something that hasn’t been done before, use their POWER and their First Amendment rights to debate their viewpoints about the ongoing Gun Legislation Issue that has many in America having a concern about the RESPONSIBLE use of Guns.

We again, had June 2nd. The day that everyone was wearing Orange in solidarity of those whom were killed in the line of fire. Remember that: And you had mothers who were doing the activism whom had lost their kids due to a BULLET! Of course the NRA and those that the NRA had pocketed those in Congress to maintain that familiar line just to jack us up. We know what it is.

For the sit in, just to let all the #BlackLivesMatter, or any other young movement per se that is all about the whatever that moves the crowd, Representative John Lewis IS STILL THE MAN. The same guy whom was apart of the Civil Rights Movement with the marches, way back when is still the man. He also showed his fellow Democrats how is supposed to be done. And still, as a black man as he is, his voice still lingers! The last time Representative Lewis was arrested, we know, was 55 years ago. At the time (young millennials and those on a hotep scale) he got arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for using a whites only bathroom! And many calling him a fool with this sit in. Well many are just naive that a person like him is still alive at 76 years old doing the unapologetic thing.

Listen: for all the “somewhat conscious” folks that know everything and claim that they see that it is a show, in the words of the lyrics out now: you need to cut it!!! Ain’t nobody got time for the foolishness. This sit in was not a game. And for those dissing the man of John Lewis, like him or not, Respect him! I didn’t say “Respeck”. Its Respect with a T.

Even if your name is Paul Ryan. Yeah he’s in this also.

I heard what he said. And as a Wisconsinite that bears from the same state as he’s from it’s just embarrassing for him to say that. He better know as well as any Republican in that House, that the acts of Rep. John Lewis was no political stunt. Voting nothing on the Gun Bills or saying no to everything that President Obama does or tried to do, is a political stunt! Check yourselves Republicans.

I say this, if Rep. John Lewis wants another sit in, DO IT! Teach them the game, legend.

Let me remind those in memory: We got an election coming up in November. I repeat, we have an election coming up in November. And normally we should be engaged in deciding where we as a country should go after January, 2017 when President Obama leaves office. And I’ll bet many are like “Oh good! Obama is gone. Couldn’t stand him!” Well, guess what, when he writes that book, or if the OFA is still kicking it, I want President Obama unload ALL Uncut Commentary about the things he was facing while he was in office for 8 years. I want to see it. Literally!
