Oh you know I’m about to go in. 2018 had me crazy! It had me on point, it had me on rotation, and it had me bugged out. But at the end of me asking these crazy questions we might understand it better. But…since this is the last Scratching my Head all this time of the year, but it’s not the last! So as we countdown to the last ticks of 2018, and we prepare for our Watch Night Services, All Night parties, and family gathering to usher in 2019, and yes to get our resolutions out of what we want to do in all: you’ve guessed it, I’m scratching my head YET AGAIN!

Who was EMBARRASSED HARSHLY in 2018 that will not go away? And will it take to heal?

And this is the last question before the ball drops and clocks out for 2018: What will you carry into 2019 that you learned in 2018? And also, what will you NOT take into 2019 that you went through hellfire and brimstone in 2018?

Now: let’s go party.

Happy New Year!

I have been saving a Three Way Dance for quite a while now. And it’s always needed. Matter of fact, it’s still needed. Even if the old blogs will be retired. More on that later. But like the title, it’s time to do a three way because of the situation right now even if you love calling on black folks doing right.

First Dance on the card: What is it about white folks, who call the police on black folks doing positive or civilized activities?

Barbecues, selling water, doing paper routes, cleaning up trash on a freeway, waiting to be serviced on meals, paying for meals, driving while being black, doing inspections and many other things doing WHILE BEING BLACK! What is the problem here? What is the real problem here? It seems to me that there are paranoid idiots out here that don’t know jack about a certain individual or groups that aren’t doing anything negative to get attention. When I was back in high school, one of my former band teachers used to say all the time, “do something constructive with yourselves.” And she was white. And its been about 23 years now.

Hmmm…….this got to be reminded that many of us have been doing constructive like Barbecuing, or whatever ideas that might get those riled up with cell phones calling the cops. Some said on Social Media that whenever a white person whom has the cell phone calling the police, there should be retaliation by saying that “we’ll sue them or put a fine on them for doing things that are constructive.” Yes, black folks can also be constructive and doing activities that don’t harm NO ONE! Somebody is probably saying what kinds of things they do? Open your eyes. Long time ago, when Fox 6 Milwaukee had their blogs going, someone whom was a white blogger at the time talked about or asked why can’t black people do things like dipping Doritos? No seriously! “Dipping Doritos?!” That was the most ungodly dumb question I’ve seen in my life. I know that “no question is a dumb question” means more in 2018 like 1995, but this was a dumb question as is. This whole thing is silly and dumb. And this keeps up, it’s going to be a problem. And I would not be surprised that retaliation of justice will come up. Mark my words. Remember those words about being constructive, or being civil.

Second Dance on the Card: I need to address this – Puerto Rico is part of the U.S.

On Facebook, I was looking at this footage about this white dude in Illinois kept going towards this young lady about her shirt, a Puerto Rican Shirt and stating that she shouldn’t be wearing that in the United States. The young lady’s name, Mia Irizarry recorded the entire footage about this subject and yes review the footage to refresh your memory.

The dude kept going on and on about the whole “she’s not an American thing” by wearing a Puerto Rican shirt and oh, the cop in the background looking at this, does absolutely NOTHING! No movements, no arrests, nothing. It’s almost like he’s standing there and not making any advancements or law and order to cease all this in a manner. Is this what the new normal of law enforcement work is now? Later on the rest of the squad showed up and told the man whom did all the harassment, was told that the park was a public place. Plus Mia was using the park area for a Birthday Party. As I looked at this, and yes there might be someone say that Puerto Rico is part of the U.S. Actually – It’s long mentioned that it was a territory of the U.S. since 1898. We’re talking about to be exact: 120 years. That’s right, 120 years as part of the U.S. The United States as a whole is 242 years old as we know from the holiday of July 4th. And when Puerto Rico became a U.S. Territory in 1898, the U.S. was just 122 years old as it’s own nation. Like many in families, many of us have relatives whom may and are related being Puerto Rican. I too have relatives whom are mixed cousins whom are Puerto Rican. They are my blood relatives, my kinfolk and yes family! And for the record, majority of my family members are black. If someone were to approach them after what Mia experienced there will be an all out protection. Not because they are of Puerto Rican decent, but they are my family members. They are cousins of mine. I would defend them to the fullest. Period! If a drunk dude get at an angle of being hostile, the defense will be up. Oh, just an update here, word is that the officer had be relieved for desk duty and the guy got charged for the hate crime.

Third Dance on the card: Wisconsin’s Democratic Gubernatorial contenders.

Yesterday, the City of Milwaukee, really the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee recently had the 1st and only Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Debate. Yes it was televised on TV and the Internet plus radio. The 8 contenders: Mike McCabe, Kathleen Vinehout, Josh Pade, Tony Evers, Matt Flynn, Paul Soglin, Kelda Roys, and Mahlon Mitchell. In the 1hour and 30 plus minute mark of the debate, the remaining 8 contenders referenced the various topics including Foxconn, Education, and Justice Reform. Many of the candidates had ideas in all, but one of them stood out the most to me was………Mahlon Mitchell. I’m going to say that Mahlon is becoming a fan favorite because the articulation of his ideas and philosophy really sunk in very well. I would best believe that Mahlon Mitchell is obviously a new fresh choice that would boost the interest of the state.

And yes, he is black. Remember what I said that in one of my “Scratching my head all this time” blogs that Wisconsin turned 170 years old in May, and about the 8% of African Americans living in the state? Plus I also said that Wisconsin in it’s history never had a black governor that led the state. That is a fact. But the question is, and I’m putting this out, is Wisconsin ready for a governor that is African Decent? Can it be done in a state that most of the folks locked up in jail happen to be African-American, which dictate the sentiment of the “Worst State for Black People” moniker? And the high unemployment of those living in the rough neighborhoods of Milwaukee?  This should NOT scare anyone with Wisconsinites. Maybe the rural/suburban folks. But “this convo” has been long discussed in the African-American areas of the state that many in Wisconsin will not go to. Or will not talk about. Does Tony Evers or Kathleen Vinehout go to the inner city area of Milwaukee? Nope! What about the other candidates whom have no Milwaukee ties? None. Oh, they might talk about it from afar, but not in person! And keep in mind that Wisconsin’s African-American Population is hovering around the 8% percent. It’s small. And the majority of the African-American population is in the South East Area of the state. Oh, the current Governor like Walker doesn’t really care about the Milwaukee Area that much.

I’m going to bet that Mahlon would be a “surprise front runner” for this election. And the thing is, here it is back in 2011-12 that he and Tom Barrett were going all over the state competing for the chair in Madison. Then losing to Walker. Now it’s his turn and doing it well with growth. So guess what, I’m betting on Mahlon on August 14th. And plus most recently, his fundraising status was boosted more than the contenders competing. And this was between January and June of this year. And unlike the other Democratic contenders, he didn’t use no loans to help boost his funds. NOPE! Not him! It’s self-funded. Old school self-funded style.

We’ll see after August 14th. In which also that many will cast a ballot of their choosing to take down Scott Walker.

I was going to write about the BET’s new show, Mancave and putting my spin on it. But I’m putting that on hold until I write this blog story regarding this subject: March For Our Lives.

I like everyone else, looked at the footages of our young folks in D.C. and locally here in Milwaukee protesting and having their say about the recent shootings that effected their schools and the relationship of their classmates. This wasn’t just an American issue, it was also worldwide. It was estimated in DC that over 800,000 plus came out to this rally/march to hear and to protest a substance that has been lingered for so long. Many of us, including me had lost someone we know personally to gun violence. I lost a cousin to gun violence in the summer of 2002 when Milwaukee was facing one of the worst summers at the time. My cousin was just 21 years old. A young black man going to college. And owned an upcoming Ice Cream Parlor. He was gunned down all because there were other folks wanting his car with the spinning rims on the side. He was killed near 47th and Locust and crashed his car near the corner of 47th and Center Streets not too far from Washington High School. All in Milwaukee. My family like many other families that lost loved ones were in horror about losing a young black male to gun violence. Weeks after my cousin’s death, the perps were tracked down and were caught for the crime. Previously, they were serving time.

But that was a personal matter. I know that the connection wasn’t all school related, but the relation of having someone close to you being killed is understandable. Now why am I putting this out on a day like today? Everyone again, has a story. But for this “March for our lives” event to voice our concerns of the recent tragedies in schools this needs NO relation. At all. NONE!

While I was looking at the young teens and some under 13 years old they seem to have a idea. An objective. These young players and girls have a momentum that would rocket them to the next level. They are the Z Generation from what I hear. And this Z Team is not pulling any punches when it comes to the things or ideas they are seeking to help curb Gun Control.

CALLOUT: And I need to say this: for all of you gun nuts who think that this March For Our Lives group is going to take away your firearms or pew pew pistols, they are not. NO ONE IS NOT TAKING AWAY YOUR GUNS! President Obama didn’t take them away and I’m surprised no one took away his Skeet Shooting Rifle! It’s kind of funny that many would believe that. But your firearms are still in your house.

Some of the speakers did spoke out on their “so far” experience. A few of them spoke were black. And some have expressed about not being at the age to give out activism like remarks. But adults, let us remind ourselves that the well known activists we know and read about, started their activism speeches as young as 5 years old. Don’t tell me that you overshot that. Folks like MLK and Rev. Al Sharpton done that. And even though that MLK is dead for nearly 50 years, and Al Sharpton is still living, their activism are lingered in memory and archived for the future. Grown folks, stop playing! It’s been done before. And it just happened again today! Those like Naomi Wadler who is only 11 years old. A 5th Grader speaking out for those whom are African-American girls that don’t make the front pages of newspapers in the nation. Nor the evening news on TV. And she’s from Alexandria, Virginia who lead a walkout via her Elementary School. The black girls she referenced were ranging from – Courtlin Arrington, Hadiya Pendleton and Taiyania Thompson just to name a few.

She also referenced very same City of Chicago that everyone talks about in a question “What about the black-on-black crime?” “What about Chicago?”  For black boys: same thing. As an example, Trevon Bosley gave his remarks by stating that “Everyday shootings are everyday problems!”  And the keyword is “everyday.”

Now we know that the “suspect supporter” of the lobbyists has the letters “NRA” on them. It’s seems that the NRA has been THE suspect. Why? I think we adults whom have back them and the 2nd Amendment allow this to happen! Of course that the 2nd Amendment has the right to bear arms or having a gun. We know this. BUT when was the last time that NRA has ever backed a thing called responsibility? I never heard the NRA fans like Dana Loesch or that black dude what’s his name, Colion Noir is it? (dude is selling out) never talked about the responsibility of the firearms their members and lobbyists must understood. They never spoke about Philando Castile’s murder in Minnesota nor recently, Stephon Clark’s murder by the Sacramento Police in his grandparent’s backyard! Where you at, NRA? Backing up Trump?! Don’t be surprised if the Gen Z Crew turns that age to vote, get involved in politics/activism and vote out all those who held down that red wall of pain that many fought for so long to take down! Be warned, NRA. They coming. And those who back them, you might be in the wave of truth of getting out of way. Again, these kids now are NOT PLAYING! And they are teaching us and reminding us of our accountable actions!

Many of us in the Baby Boomers, Gen X and yes you Millennial folks, we’ll be in those nursing stations getting someone to wash our butts as we get older and relieve our sickness and diseases to cure our bodies. OK subject off. Not good. But you know what I’m saying.

From David Hogg to Emma Gonzalez and many in between, they were the premiered speakers and survivors and we grown folks had to listen to them. That’s what they wanted. They wanted to speak and they did. But the surprising speaker of all of them was just 8 years old. And she has a legacy to maintain for the next era of the name King. Yes, Yolanda Renee King – MLK’s and Coretta’s only Grand Daughter, Niece of Rev. Bernice King and Dexter King, and daughter of MLK III came out and spoke that she has a dream that enough is enough!

This is King’s Granddaughter speaking. Now I know that she’s only a preteen in elementary school. But after her speaking part of going to be a great generation, there is no telling, she is just beginning to spread her future activism. But I hope that she not only does that, but also maintains the namesake of her family to restore!

Now I want to address all this mess about are the Parkland High School Students are being exploited for all this protesting. My question is, who is exploiting them? Who?

All the grown folks who say that, shut up! They to me are addressing a concern about the violence in the schools recently. There was violence of guns in the Milwaukee Public Schools not too long ago. Were the current students of MPS being exploited about that? When many of us were in high school in the 90’s or 80’s, now as ALUMNI were we exploited with high school violence in our schools not caring?! Yes I went there. And many of us never used the letters “NRA” back then. Unlike now. I don’t think nor believe that the students are being exploited. Seriously, who’s exploiting them?! Who?! One thing about all of this, folks want to stir up stuff that is not true. If that’s the case, they wouldn’t be doing the marching or speaking out period. And their parents would NOT allow them to attend. But wait a minute: this is a country with freedom of expression right? So that means that our young folks can’t speak about the concerns that they witnessed? Many of us grown folks are perpetrating. And many are doing that by the keyboards who think they know it all, but don’t do the homework. Yes grown people I’m talking about us! Or many of us that want to rant with no proof.

Final say: even though that this march is a one day affair of open expression of our youth, it shouldn’t stop today! This needs to be an everyday subject! Everyday! Not just every March 24th, take a photo, say/hear the speeches, performances and go home. I want all the schools to really take heed about what is happening here. And yes this does include the parents! And also the communities, the fraternities, the sororities, the churches, neighborhoods, and many other groups, clubs and organizations that really cares about the safety and well being of our (and I mean OUR) kids! If you don’t have children like me and you’re just looking at this March and rally, I say back up the kids in your churches and community centers/organizations. Women: back up the girls. And as far as the Men (whether you have kids or not) we need to back up our Sons, Nephews, Cousins, Grandsons, Godsons, and young wards/male students who look up to us as head pillars in the community and go to the schools everyday, while we work the clock! Women: same thing if you have sons and no daughters. Men, vice versa with daughters.

I have a message to the Generation Z crew that were active today: I hear you. We all hear you. Let’s do the work to get you started. After all, you are the next players to lead.

I’m just going to let loose. This is the last “Scratching my head all this time” thing. Actually its the last story in my 30’s. But don’t worry since this is the 12th month and the birthday is on December 5th, yes I’m going to keep writing when the 40’s happen and yes there will be a SPECIAL Sagittarius Check in for all of us Sags born between November 22nd and December 21st. So with that, I’m cutting to the chase right now!

Since when did the real racists have a say when Donald Trump became president?

Have many stopped sleeping on the Wisconsin Badgers Football Squad? Oh, yes they lost to Michigan and Ohio State, but guess what Michigan fans, no disrespect, but your squad got beat by IOWA! And you’re crying about a tiebreaker with Jim Harbaugh’s rants about refs. Hold up, he needs to look in the mirror when his then-49ers torched the Packers with crooked zebras!

Can the Packers really “Run the Tables” in another attempt to get to the playoffs? Run the Tables, Relax and Chill fellow cheeseheads. #GoPackGo

If the Badgers win the B1G Championship over Penn State, is there a STRONGER WAY to get to the Rose Bowl and actually WIN IT?

Is 40 the new 20 like many said?

Hey Sagittarians: It’s still our season. Are we having fun or what?

Now Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke might be a potential pick for Trump’s Homeland Security Position. BUT you know that he had folks die in jail without water this year, right?

Milwaukee is now a Blue City in a RED STATE. How will this workout, as if many times before?

Remember when Colin Kaepernick was kneeling  during the Anthem? Why didn’t he vote?

Why is it that the NES Classic Edition is so hard to find AT WALMART? But when you go to Gamestop and try to buy it for $80.00. REALLY?!!

Is Amazon Fire Stick TV really the business?

Last year, the Coloring Books for us grown folks were a hot seller. What’s next to come back for the Christmas season for the grown and mature? And it’s not just the VR machines.

This year, we all heard about DirecTV Now. 100+ Channels for 35 bucks. Now here is my question: Can us on the DirecTV thing who are sick and tired of paying about $100.00+ per month can actually be traded to pay something less cheaper with the new DirecTV Now?

Did anyone actually were thankful by reading my Be Thankful blog for Thanksgiving?

Here’s something to scratch on: What about those who say don’t buy anything during the holidays, but those who will buy the items anyway?

Yes I agree that Black Dollars Matter. Which really it does. But whom is having a hard time understanding that?

This past Tuesday was Giving Tuesday. Who donated to their Alumni Groups?

What is the biggest stigma of misunderstanding of when turning 40?

OK I have to scratch this one: Many are saying that Luke Cage, Sons of Anarchy or others are better than Empire. Look I can respect everyone’s opinions, but what’s better than Luke Cage or Sons of Anarchy? Monday Night Raw?! Black-ish? I have to say this: the next couple of shows coming out, will be better than Luke Cage or them other shows. Mark my words.

What about them Milwaukee Bucks so far? Don’t sleep!

You know that the Nintendo Switch is coming out like next spring, right?

We got those lists coming out for 2017. Are we going to follow it?

Who is really hooked on those Hallmark Christmas shows right now? Come on now, please confess to Father Stephen! Admit your confession!

Will this year be the best Christmas ever? Since Obama is leaving office next month.

Speaking of that: Will you really miss Obama?

What will be your BEST and WORST of 2016?

Have the Introverts really got respect?

Why has 2016 had NO CHILL when famous most recently have passed on?

Who was the real deal in Milwaukee this year? No I’m not picking Sheriff David Clarke.

Who was the real deal in Wisconsin this year? Nope sorry Scott Walker!

Since Christmas is coming as usual: Who is the real Scrooge you know that needs a butt kicking right now?! Go get those three spirits.

Since 2016 had no chill, what about the unemployment and the underemployed of black men and women had NO CHILL all along?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: has anyone caught those who murdered that college student near my Alma Mater of UW-Stout?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: what about the still health concerns about black folks?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: What is the deal of the same ol’ tired stigmas about black on black crime that the “you know whos” had to bring up when police shootings happen?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: what was up with cultural black organizations had to shut down due to funding in America?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Why did those who say they were for Hillary, but were backing Donald Trump?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: who is really having a hard time finding work? Especially in Milwaukee?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Why there are those who feel that ALL CHURCHES are about money?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Who is the biggest hypocrite? Those whom do church, or the job, or the streetfolks?

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: what will the black folks who voted for Donald Trump will actually get in his 100 days in office, or 4 years? Not much!

Since 2016 had NO CHILL: Why is Wisconsin’s rural areas have the stigmas about city folks?

Do you realize that leaving one place to another might have implications of seeing the same old racism yet again?

Most of us are still reeling from this so-called election where hardly no one voted up enough. Who is really at fault for NOT VOTING? And will this not carry over in 2018?

Speaking of 2018, will this be the last year of Sheriff David Clarke and Scott Walker?

AND the last question before I turn 40: Will you or might you believe that anything is possible to go hard even further?  Despite anything?

Bonus Question: Should the blogging I do should be added to the Milwaukee category on WordPress? I looked at that and it’s completely DRY!

There will be more coming out.

Ok. It’s a three way dance that it’s long awaited. This dance though, is so legit that will make the old school dances come back like killer clowns on Halloween. But anyway: it’s on. Take a number and just relax.

First on the card: Peter Feigin, the President of the Milwaukee Bucks made headlines recently on the comments he made about Milwaukee.

And he quotes the following statement:

Very bluntly, Milwaukee is the most segregated, racist place I’ve ever experienced in my life. It just is a place that is antiquated. It is in desperate need of repair and has happened for a long, long time. One of our messages and one of our goals is to lead by example.

Well. He’s telling the truth.

This is coming from the President of the Milwaukee Bucks, that was stated in a Rotary Meeting in Madison. My question is, why is there are those who felt shocked and appalled by what he said? If anyone knows the city like a book, it’s a well known factor that the city of the Good Land does have factors about segregation and racism and those factors have been so examined too many times. It’s the truth! And I don’t think that Peter should not have backed away or peddled away from his statement! Folks, I know what Peter Feigin may have said that must have set off fire alarms. But there is no denying that those alarms about the ongoing struggle of segregation in a city that was founded by three socialist mayors like Solomon Juneau, Byron Kilbourn and George Walker, and with the Festivals, the Brewers, Summerfest, and countless others.Yes Milwaukee’s ongoing problem with segregation still lingers. It’s not just black and white, anyone else of any ethnicity can be felt segregated while struggle. So I don’t feel that Peter Feigin shouldn’t be guilty of stating an ongoing problem that plagues the city. We in the city that are life long Milwaukeeans: we know. You former Milwaukee Residents that moved and never came back or rarely make visits, I’ll agree that you also know. Even if you rarely visit if you live in the suburbs, or Madison. But know this, the issue of this problem is not just Milwaukee, it’s all over the place. Sorry for the Spoiler Alert, but racism is in America’s DNA. No matter how scary it is. Is there segregation in Atlanta? Chicago? What about the Twin Cities? Texas? Or another well known city like NYC or Miami? Or a well known spot internationally? Come on now! Tell the truth! Even though the big whigs don’t want to admit it, but it IS the truth! Folks can back track all they want. Or tell those “dont’ bring that up!  Just do your job and don’t discuss it”. And for those who picked this up in New York, Chicago, MSN Websites, and many others that are a bit shocked on a journal scale, why are you surprised that Milwaukee has this problem?

Stop the pain!

It’s going to get brought up as a CONSTANT reminder that racism exist. It’s real as a headlock. In which I’ll continue more in the second card.

Second card: Yes: real racism does exist.

We all know this. Yesterday, I was listening to The Forum on WNOV. And as I was listening to a segment in regarding racism. We all know that yes, Milwaukee or this instance the Greater Milwaukee Area is no stranger to the effects of Segregation and of course, again racism period. As was listening to the segment, the exact segment about a certain caller whom believed that there is no such thing as “real racism”. After listenting to that one little snippet, this caller must be drunk! SERIOUSLY! And the caller is from West Allis. The same West Allis like where the Wisconsin State Fair is located. And West Allis like the areas of the outliners of the burbs in the area is mostly Republican. But the issue here is RACISM! For all of you callers or speakers whom call into a Black Radio Station clamining that racism doesn’t exist, then you must be AGAIN drunk! I had my experience of racism 6 years ago when I got a letter from Reed vs Dresser in regarding a Civil Rights Case in regarding the issue of the company that DID NOT allow African-American Applicants to train or hire to work for their company! This is true white people! I remember handing in a resume of mine way back around the mid-2000’s  actually 2006 at a job fair in Pewaukee. And also I applied for a job online (on Dresser’s Website) a year later to find work. Then August 2010 came which I got a notice that based on the results of the documented proof, I was one of the 300+ African-Americans that did not got a job based on the fact it was due to racism. So like many others who got that letter, I filled out a form with my detailed info, submitted a copy of my Drivers License in all and mailed both the form and DL Copy to the company in Florida. When October came, in which it was the day after the so-called holiday of Columbus Day, I picked up the mail from my parents house and one of the mail had my name on it. And it was from the Reed vs Dresser company and I was awarded a check of $5,000. I was BLOWN AWAY!!  And all of this was a direct result of me being a job seeker; no a African-American Job Seeker got disrespected all because of racism of looking for a job! In the Greater Milwaukee Area. And you got these so-called white folks who think that racism doesn’t exist. WAKE UP! I’ve mentioned this before on the blog many times, and it’s becoming a still constant reminder about that there are companies here in the area, as well as America that doesn’t want to hire applicants of color! What’s the Plan B in all of this? Either find a job that really doesn’t do the hate thing on hiring, or find your own job by employing yourself. Be your own boss. Be your own CEO. And when you do that, you are doing you. Nothing wrong with that. And your haters who refuse to hire folks of color will be embarrassed. And probably these are the same folks who are in HR are probably those who are doing the “judging hiring” of African-American applicants of not getting in. I’ll bet 40 dollars that is taking place in some of these companies that are looking to be filled with this concern. I told you so! Think I’m joking? Look at the rate of jobs that don’t hardly hire black folks within the last couple of years and that should tell those as proof of evidence. And oh, may I add that those who per se are telling those that there are those in the African-American Community are lazy, don’t want to work, yadda yadda yadda. But when the issue of race and employment (pre employment) comes up via the African-American prospective concern, that is another monster that still needs to be taken down. Even in the year of 2016 and beyond.

Third listing on the card: Millennials, you need to vote up.

For all the Millenials out there, even if you love reading my blog in your classes on your smartphones, I don’t usually ask this but why many of you between 18-34 are not planning to vote in this election? Really, what’s up with that. It’s obvious that yes we face the most difficult election that we know. And yes for President Obama, it’s his last lap as the number 1 guy in The White House. We know! And I know MANY of you probably have mixed bag feelings about the likes of Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Jill Stein and Gary Johnson all want that chair at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I know many of you probably aren’t going to vote because the issues probably don’t match yours. Well Millennials: what are your “Concerns” that is effecting you right now? Yeah hashtag that! Is that Bernie Sanders mantra got you down because you wouldn’t vote up for Hillary? Or are you ACTUALLY believe that non-voting will help your problems? Ummm…..to answer those questions is like being on the wrong side of the fence. Or in this case just making a case of nothing. You Millennial folk who are assuming that voting up will not change nothing or assuming that not voting will make you cool at home: STOP! Please stop thinking what your friends have been saying about voting wont work because IT CAN WORK! Ok so many of you don’t like all or some of the candidates. BIG DEAL! But still you have to make your votes count on the ballot by or on November 8th of this year! You probably have heard or somewhat read it on your smartphone or tablet that well: many men and women fought and died for their right to vote! Even black men and black women (especially to my millennial black folks) FOUGHT HARD to vote and with you not voting is like a slap in the face of Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers, Fannie Lou Hamer, Malcolm X, and many others that all equal rights to voting is on the table and YOUR RIGHT to vote up is included! Frankly, I don’t care about the stances of Hillary, and yes Donald Trump scares me also. If many of you don’t vote, I hate to call you out on this but: many of you are acting selfish. That’s right I said it! Many of you in that age gap are SELFISH that many of you will not cast your vote in this election. Not only it’s selfish, or a slap in the face, but it is the ultimate disrespect that many of you will chose by not voting. On a personal note: SHAMEFUL!

Y’all on these social media sites and texting like crazy on your smartphones, and here you are not voting. Give me a break!

  • Do any of you care about your communities?
  • Do any of you ACTUALLY care about your Healthcare needs? Jobs? Your Alumni? Or that rent? Or those books?
  • Do any of you care about real jobs, not those Burger King/McDonalds/Pick N Save type jobs working for your teenager titles?
  • What about those causes that you ACTUALLY care about? And don’t say the environment only!
  • Do any of you care about the actual donations given?
  • What is it going to take, Millennials? Are you going to sit on Election Day, or WILL YOU ACTUALLY VOTE?!

When I was in your age bracket between 18-35 or 18-34 I voted up. I registered to vote when I was 18 years old in High School. Between 18 years old and now, I know that the use of voting still lingers. I first casted my ballot at 19 and also yes, like many others, Bill Clinton was chosen for his second term. Plus also unlike many who don’t know, I also voted in smaller elections like judges, school board supervisors, mayors, county executives, state legislatures, state senators, city alderpersons, governors, congressmen or congresswomen, referendums, etc. I’ve have done the voting thing since 1996 and I have NOT STOPPED SINCE! Me taking the day off to vote and sit at home is selfish act. You think it’s selfish for not going to the doctor is bad only? Think again!

Millennials, those of you coming after Gen-X like a dark horse: Between now and November 8th and I say this as one of those that got you started: GET OUT AND VOTE!!!! There are no excuses! Nevermind your plans for November 8th, and the post -Obama era, and nevermind about your personal feelings of who’s best and not casting a ballot. I urge all of you 18-35 or whatever TO GET OUT AND VOTE! Period. I don’t know what devil(s) you’re paying attention to, but the devil is a liar!

Hashtag that. I’ll bet you might not.

Last time on this blog: Normally, this is election season in which you’ll see general bids for the picks to be. And many will indeed go to the polls. Check this, I am a Election Inspector for the City of Milwaukee that has been in the game for 9 years. From those who are good and yes that had folks yelled in my face! Even the levels of questions raised up the bar. No matter if it’s a full day or a half day. For this also, it’s the part IV: the Local Judge/Mayoral/County Executive Race.  And the rules have changed slightly.

For this: ONCE AGAIN, ITS BACK! The Stephen’s Spot Rules returns. My tips, and my rules of the voting game in Wisconsin – PART IV! New Rules, Same Objectives.

First thing: When the day comes, the polls will be open from 7am – 8pm. Now there is a forecast of a low voter turnout under 80%. Give or take. However regarding this, already many of you or some probably voted early either by mail or in person at your City Hall Areas. But for you last minute voters: yes like many times before, you can still vote up on the day of Election Day.

Second Thing. When going, make sure you are at the right (and I mean THE RIGHT) polling place! If you’re not sure, the Election Inspectors (and or the Chief Inspectors) will help you to find the correct place to vote up. And if you are at the right spot, walk in to the rooms and when you come to the tables, state your name and address. And if your name is listed in the books, sign your name in the book to verify, and the EI’s will give you a ballot and a number.

By the way: AS OF THE RECENT RULING: ID’S ARE NOW NECESSARY! Only state your name and address to the EI’s (via the state law).

Third thing: Now since you have your ballot, look at it carefully. First  the ballot you’ll see is totally different. For this ballot coming up and it’s a  Primary,  and it’s a non- partisan ballot – meaning for this is that it’s a one sided ballot that you can only vote for  candidate in the selected of Mayor, County Executive, Judge and Alderman District Leader of whatever district you live in.  More on that later on. After that has been done, you take your ballot and insert into the machine and you will receive your I Voted Sticker.

Speaking of the New Rule of ID’s: Here is a listing of what you will need to get in order to vote. Courtesy of the Milwaukee County Election Commission.

NOTE: Now there might be barriers. So listen up if you might encounter them.

If you show up at the polls, and if you state your name, and if your name is NOT in the books: chances are the EI’s might ask you the question: “When was the last time you voted?” The reason being if you haven’t voted in Wisconsin in the last 5 years per say, you need to re-register on site. When you re-register: fill out the forms provided, with your current name, address, city, state and zip. And of course you have to certify that you are of age, no felonies, no convictions, lived at your residence for at least 28 days, etc. Plus also when providing your info: you could also use your Wisconsin Drivers License or State ID Number or your last 4 digits of your Social to register. Plus other listings of Proof of Residence like a Utility Bill, your Government License, College Students that have an official letter from their College or University, and many others. Don’t worry, the Polling Places will have a listing of what you need to register or re-register.

Just a side note: If your ID has been expired or revoked since November of 2014, and it still has your CURRENT name, address, city, state, zip code on it as it was since at the time before it got expire or suspended, YES you can use that to vote!

Speaking of Proof of Residence: Here is a full listing of what you’ll need when or if registering, or re-registering via the City of Milwaukee Election Commission:

  • A current and valid Wisconsin Driver License or a current and valid Wisconsin Identification Card.
  • Any other official identification card or license issued by a Wisconsin governmental body or unit.  Examples: A DNR-issued fishing license, hazardous materials handling license, conceal carry license.
  • Any identification card issued by an employer in the normal course of business and bearing a photo of the card holder, but not including a business card.
  • A residential lease that is effective for a period that includes the date of voter registration*.
  • A real estate tax bill or receipt for the current year or the year preceding the date of the election*.
  • A utility bill for the period beginning 90 days or less before the date of registration; includes electric, gas, water or sewer bills  (name must appear on the bill); cable (including satellite) or internet bills; phone bills (including cellular)*.
  • bank statement*.
  • A paycheck.  Example: A paycheck when it is an actual check or a record of direct deposit. A check stub*.
  • A check or other document/official correspondence issued by a unit of government. Examples: Medicare or BadgerCare Plus notices and explanation of benefits (not private health insurance or third party providers); SSI notices; Wisconsin motor vehicle registrations; public high school, state university and technical college documents; Wisconsin Works; Wisconsin Shares; correspondence, notices or other paperwork from any government agency; tax refund checks; public library correspondence or records; court notices and paperwork; police reports.
  • An identification card (must include photo) issued by a university, college, or technical college ONLY if the voter provides a fee receipt dated within the last nine (9) months*.  Example: A student ID and a copy of tuition receipt from the Bursar’s office.
  • An affidavit for homeless voters.  Example: A letter from a shelter or other organization providing services to the homeless. The letter identifies the individual and describes the location designated as the person’s residence for voting purposes. The identification letter should be on letterhead and signed by a person affiliated with the social services organization.

*Note that electronic versions of these documents, where available, are also acceptable.

Also, if you recently moved to a new place and your name is again not in the books, you might have to check your old polling area to see if your name is in those books. Or if the districts have been changed, it is best to notify either the Election Commission or any of the polling sites have those red books that you’ll see with the EI’s and Chiefs. And just a positive note: for those that use the Internet, go to the GAB website, and when you see the MyVote link, click on that and sign in on the site to get your polling place, ballot status, etc.

If your name has changed due to misspelling or if you got married, or changed it for religious reasons, government reasons, or if your neighbor near you who was a voter for amount of years that recently passed, the EI’s will have a Correction Form with them in which you the voter will verify the changes either in address, name, or deceased.

If you are a convicted felon: PLEASE PAY ATTENTION ON THIS!

If you’re name is on paper and if you are still finishing your parole, you can’t vote. HOWEVER, if you’re name is off paper, yes you can vote.

CALLOUT: Don’t “TWEET” YOUR BALLOT!In 2012: the State of Wisconsin warned us about “Tweeting Ballots”. Here’s what I know. If you snap a picture of your ballot that is a sample or unmarked, it’s valid. HOWEVER if it’s already snapped and you made your choices to show it off, you’re asking for jail time and/or pay a fine. Votes should be private all the way. Even in the era of social media. So Facebookers, Twitter folks, Googlers in all, don’t even try it. However, you can snap a pic of your I Voted Sticker!

Plus: for those who will work during the voting hours, you can get some time off the clock so you can go vote. Tell your bosses ahead of time and get your I Voted Sticker as proof!

When marking the new ballots, you can use pens! Yes!!!! Or the markers that the Polls will supply. But the procedures stay the same. For this, you can circle in the choices like you used to do with those Iowa Test Answer sheets way back in school. And the new Machines you’ll see have a new twist when you insert the ballots. If any one in the state, doesn’t know what I’m talking about, look at this clip:

When marking the ballots of your choice, and after you insert it into the new machine, it will scan it for you, and if you got all the circles filled in, your ballot will count. There will be on-Screen instructions for you to select. But however there might be issues: If your ballot has different selections of check marks, X’s or the circle may not be filled in all the way, it will indicate on the screen that your ballot might not be counted.  But if you choose the ballot as it is, with the mistakes, you can use that to count it. And again when you put the ballot in the machine (if it all goes well) then you get your sticker. Just a heads up: you only get 3 tries. If you fail all three times, its done. But if you get it right on the second or last try, you’re safe. So it’s best to get the ballots right on the first try!

If your name is in the book, and if you have the word “Absentee” near it, the EI’s will tell you that it’s noted and will ask if you used it previously. If you did, that counts as a vote for that day. But: if you haven’t used it, but still wanted to use the regular ballots, what the EI’s and Chief Inspectors will do in this situation is take your Absentee Ballot, and exchange it for a regular ballot. Plus you might sign your name in the books. The absentee ballots will be soiled or in this case they’ll rip it up. For the POR’s you might to provide additional info like a WI DL Number to verify.

And also in some circumstances: having a witness could be a vital factor of proof.

For the handicapped: it is vital that they receive the real deal voting as much as every other voter.

Also: if the ending of the voting hours around 8pm occurs, and if you’re in line: you can still vote! Remember, everyone’s right of voting counts.

Now since the finals are in April and whoever wins that will be declared the victor.

So again Wisconsin folks, Again, I know we’re polarized with politics. But one thing for sure, we all have a right to vote for whomever we want to steer the offices. Even if you don’t like the viewpoints of Scott Walker or Bob Donovan or maybe Mayor Tom Barrett would get another 4 years. Or whatever. And if those feel that this election doesn’t mean nothing to sit at home, worrying about your paycheck, or your hairstyle, or your new CD with the banging beats, or your new Gun Permit CCW License that you got, those things might make your voting opposition even worse even if you don’t vote.

CALLOUT: By the way, for those who you know very well that got those Lyft Cars, or Uber Cars and you know them that uses their vehicles for going from point A to point B and being paid for it, use that. For all you Wisconsin Uber and Lyft Drivers: if you have any Election Day Driving specials(and I mean ANY DRIVING SPECIALS)  going on like “I’ll Uber you to the polls”, or “Lyfting you to the polls” specials, start advertising that NOW! I don’t care how much you charge, just help those who can’t get to the polls on their own.

So in conclusion: Get OUT and Vote Up February 16th!
