We all know that the month of June is alot to unpack. June is the month of Juneteenth Day, the first day of Summer, Father’s Day, Pride Month for the LGBT, Black Music Month and most importantly for the men: It’s another month to talk about health. Their health. Yes, June is Men’s Health Month. For all the men reading my blogs and I know you are: this is our month to think about our health and wellness. We hate the constant nagging of our women folks who keep prompting us to get our health checked by doctors all the time. We know also that we hear stories from older men who had friends that “went in to the hospital and never came out.” We often hear about the use of our health life span that men die 5% more than women no matter what age or health status that goes on. So let me just get this cat out of the bag in which many women will nag us to hell yet again. And we know we’re not like the women in this department: MEN It’s time to go back to the doctors and nurses! Period. Many of us have been praising the Docs and Nurses since the pandemic started or developed. We’ve stood outside or virtually saying “Thank You” to those that go to war in the hospitals everyday. We say thanks to the paramedics, etc. just to look out for us. We get it. BUT…….MEN: since are we thanking the Doctors and Nurses all this time, is it time that we need to start seeing them again? Even if you haven’t been in a while. Like I said two years ago when I went back to a doctor, I had my male eye doctor TELLING ME to see a doctor! So Men, we have to talk to other men and BOYS to talk about going into the doctor’s office to get ourselves checked up. Especially of what’s going on in the three phases I am willing to comment: Coronavirus, Violent Protests and yes Mental Health!

First lets review in the ongoing saga of the Coronavirus:

We all know that the pandemic is causing a ruckus all over the world. Ranging from ages, income, education, job status and health. In regards to our health, the coronavirus has reached in the categories in age and health status. Again this goes for everyone. But when it comes to men, its becoming a staggering statistic. Emily Willingham who wrote for MensHealth Magazine gave an synopsis of this objective:

“The first hints at this male-biased effect emerged in studies from China. One report describing early cases said that 106 men were diagnosed with COVID-19 for every 100 women. In another study from China of 99 patients with COVID-19 who were hospitalized with pneumonia, 67 were men. Men in China also have been dying at greater rates than women, at 2.8 percent compared to 1.7 percent among women.

The imbalance crops up elsewhere, too. In an analysis of patients testing positive in Singapore, 41 were men and 26 were women. In Italy, the skew is even more stark, with men making up three of every four diagnosed cases.

This coronavirus is not alone in hitting men harder than women. In the 2003 outbreak of SARS, COVID-19’s cousin in infectious disease, being male was linked to more severe disease. Men were more likely than women to die in that earlier outbreak, too.

One possibility, he (Eng Eong Ooi) says, is that differences in hormone levels between men and women could underlie some of this bias. These differences can affect how men and women respond to infectious disease, vaccination, and cancer.

For example, says Ooi, hormones present in greater concentrations in women may suppress levels of the protein that lets the novel coronavirus into our cells.

Other possible explanations, researchers have suggested, include average differences in how men and women spend their days. Men in China, for example, smoke more than do women, which might make them more vulnerable to COVID-19 disease.

Some studies also point to a role for activities that skew toward one sex or the other, clustering them together on a regular basis, allowing for disease spread. Finally, women lag behind men in some of the other risk factors for more severe COVID-19, including cardiovascular disease.

Pinning down relevant factors will take more research and more time, says Ooi. Meanwhile, he says, “the prevention measures remain the same: good hand hygiene.”

That takes us to another factor that could be in play. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that even though everyone knows to wash hands after using a public bathroom, only 65 percent of women do so and an even more scandalous 31 percent of men do.”

So after reading this portion, it appears that we guys have to watch out for smoking more, washing our hands after using the bathroom, making sure we have a good amount of protein in our foods, and many others. But the bottom line in this is really making sure that our hands are sanitized, clean, and not infections with germs that many carry around! Even when it comes to be socially distant! When I am about, I mask up. I cover my hair with a doo-rag, my face with bandana and or masks, and Nitrile Gloves when going out to the store, restaurant, or where ever when it’s not a lot of people. When I get back home, instead of me going to the easy chair and chilling out, I do the following: I go downstairs to the laundry room and I take off my clothes, my doo-rag, bandanas, and shoes to wash. With Lysol Sanitizers! Then I grab a box of aloe vera wet cloths to wipe around my skin on my face, arms, legs, ears, and other body parts that need attention. After that, I put on CLEAN CLOTHES to wear for the rest of the day. Another important fact: I clean my shoes. Why do I do this? When I’m about, shoes pick up traction of airborne pores. Coronavirus for some is airborne. And rumor has it that it could be on for 5 days if NOT directly washed. For jackets and coats: I spray them by using Fabuloso that has the agent to keep the items clean. And after that is done, I hang up my jackets on a hanger away from other clothes to dry overnight. This is my procedure when going out and coming in the house. Some of you might say, “Stephen, that’s a waste. You don’t have to do that.” With all what’s going on , you have to stay ready! If you have a chronic illness like Diabetes like me for two years, yes I can go out, but I have to stay ready along with my steady diet and exercise. Plus taking my medications. If you have a concern of a medical condition while do work outside, again you need to watch out! Word is that the Coronavirus can be deadly to those 60 years and up.Then I’ve heard that it’s between 20-29 and now it’s 18-35 years old. Why you supposed that is: not many are adhering to the Social Distancing, Physical Distancing, not protected with PPE, etc. Many folks are not thinking smart! Now since many of our stupid Republican folks that opened their states and cities after the idiots of men and women claiming it’s tyranny, guess what? More folks who are not as socially distant are becoming effected with the COVID-19. And what is crazy about it that most of that was done by men. So men we need to think smart about this as we remain vigilant about our health of the coronavirus.

Second on the list: Violent Protests. Say this with me if you dare: BLACK LIVES MATTER.

The very same Black Lives Matter we hear more now like a rally cry. This part of Men’s Health should be focus on violent acts against black men. Over an over again the names of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks, Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin, Ernest Lacy, Terrance Fletcher, Walter Scott, Michael Brown, Derek Williams, Dontre Hamilton, and a host of other Black Men who are not on this list that should be are dead because of that happened to them: Police Brutality, Police Shootings, Racism, and other violent acts. In the 1990’s I heard that African-American men are considered “Endangered Species” in the concerns of them losing their lives. When it comes to Black Men getting killed, it seems that the tipping point always goes sharply with a concern. We hear that the highest homicides, killings, and others that mainly target black men. No matter we read about the murders per capita in a city like Detroit, or Chicago or Milwaukee or anywhere else in America, black men are becoming a target of being extinct. I have to be aware every day when stepping out of the house to be alert of my surroundings. No matters who are looking or driving. Black men have to be on “high alert” when something like this comes around. When you hear stories like this, it’s a recurring nightmare in which families worry about. Especially if you are in a black family! African-American Men, especially YOUNG African-American Men are dying at a violent rate more than the white counterparts and more than their female wives and girlfriends. Men, why haven’t we talked about this during Men’s Health Month? Being killed or shot on the street or highway is a health pandemic. Racism and Environmental Racism is now a health pandemic. Gun Violence is a health matter! Yes, I am very familiar with the second amendment of the right to bear arms. And when the folks start shooting, we should start shooting back. That’s going to be a mess. Pools of blood everywhere. Do we want this? What every MALE group needs to talk about in this discussion is the real hard core reality of why this matters. In terms of this extinction of Black Men. And as far as the protests: we know that the black women are leading this thing, but the black males need to have a synopsis to join this matter. Some black men are standing up and leading the charge. But every black man, have to do this as well.

The third tier to discuss: Mental Health.

The next time when you go to the doctor, gents: there will be this question: They might ask, how is your mental health? You might grade it a high point or low point. And the reason why they ask this because it’s apart of your health. It’s apart of your functioning in all what you do. Mainly thinking. For this, I need to steer away and focus on a mental health subject that I read about and that many joked about that is not humorous. Lil Boosie or Boosie BadA** had this conversation several months ago on the radio, about the concerns of gay folks. He instigated about having his sons and nephews might be turning Gay if they didn’t have sex with females. Boosie was all in the that assuming that if they would have sex with the females, they wouldn’t turn gay. Keep in mind, his sons and nephew are teenagers. VIRGINS! When this story broke, I had to bust out my anger like, why would he encourage this?!!! REALLY?! Almost all of the commentary about this subject was centered about the safety and legality of his male sons and nephew. See when crap like this happens or being talked about, the males are going to be scared for life! Check this out, and I want every male reading this: how many of you have every been Sexually Assaulted or Sexually forced by those you know close that had to prove you’re a man? Almost giving up your virginity to prove that you’re not gay?! And having family members that inserting his/her private part into you that might give you AIDS or some disease? I’m going there on this because based on the stories I read online and other blogs. Believe it or not, this happened to me when I was younger and my cousin did this in a shameful act. When I told my parents this, they were livid! And I had to be about 8 or 9 years old. You talk about mental health issues, fast forward to adulthood, you have Lil Boosie saying all this crap and admitted it was a hoax. Or in this case, he was just clowning. That is not a way to joke about this. AT ALL! This is one example of why Mental Health is a concern in the Black Community. We know that Black Women have issues like this and that’s not a lie. Even when sexually assaulting young boys. Oh, this is the part when you can start saying “Save Our Boys!” Proficiently, this is how many folks get screwed up in a health sense as they get older. For all the men who are just staying silent about this matter, you need to speak up. If this were your son that you want to carry on the family name in all, you better back him up NOW! We know we love our sons, grandsons, nephews, cousins, and stepsons. We want them to grow in a world of no pain and pestilence. But with all that’s going on at a higher rate of Mental Health being serious, this is a wake up call.

This is a must wake up call on Men’s Health in terms of what we go through every time. For the men of the households and the households to be, we can’t just let this sit idly by like it’s no concern. This is a health concern that cannot be ignored!

As this Men’s Health Month is coming to a conclusion of 2020, the issues of our health still goes on everyday. Like Breast Cancer. Like Prostate, Colon, Ovarian, Pancreatic, Lung, Bone and many other forms of cancer we read about all the time. Even dealing with COVID-19 and the forms of issues that men face mostly on their own. Domestic Violence is an issue also that men face alone and it’s a fact. Not just creating the problem but also being a victim! If you think that this issue is not a male concern, ladies ask your man if he was a victim of Domestic Violence. And don’t laugh about this. Maybe he needs to let you know that this was an issue since he was child, or a teenager. Or couldn’t shake it off as an adult. Now everyone knows that Men don’t dig into this well, and its a fact.

So after summarizing these three phases, us males have more work to do. Not just for this Men’s Health Month but also year round. Men, you can stop praising all these nurses and doctors and actually get checked!

Men of the world, say to your fellow male neighbor and say these words: “Neighbor, we made it to another year!” Yeah, just like in church. If many have not forgotten nor complained, today is International Men’s Day 2019. And yet its a day for all men young and old to be acknowledged and appreciated in terms of not just men being men, but also being better men each and every time. International Men’s Day comes 8 months after the bickering questioning about the occasion after the women had their International Women’s Day in March. If you don’t know what I’m talking about: here it was 8 months ago, and many were asking “When is International Men’s Day?” over and over! Don’t act like you forgot! Or didn’t know. For a short time, International Men’s Day has been on the radar, but many didn’t pick up the signal. I’m not talking about Father’s Day, I’m talking “International Men’s Day”. See, Father’s Day is reserved for men whom are FATHERS! International Men’s Day is for ALL MEN regardless if they are fathers or not. If many men had been wished Happy Father’s Day mistakenly by women this past year in all, it’s their fault. Not every man is a father. Let’s be clear. International Men’s Day however is an unsung day for men for all men to celebrated and also to talk about the concerns that men face each time besides Prostate and Testicular Cancer. We’re also talking discrimination because of being a man. We’re talking about financial concerns, spiritual concerns, mental concerns, bullying and many other manly concerns that men usually don’t talk about but they know it. Even when it comes to the book I bought this year, “Why Men Hate Going to Church.” Oh, I just went there. But yet, on a day like today for Men, let’s talk about all of this.

I’m reading several articles about the question, “Should we be celebrating International Men’s Day?” But the question is, why aren’t many celebrating International Men’s Day? To answer the first part of the question of celebrating the occasion: YES! Why not this day? Why not have an extra day to celebrate the men in your lives? I’m not just saying this to men, but yes women, since you stumbled onto this blog, you’re in this too. Why not this?! We male dudes celebrate you every March 8th, and Mother’s Day and gush all over. However, when the Father’s Day comes as well as today, it doesn’t seem much. But on Father’s Day, it’s about men have to be stepped up to be real men by toughening up and improve. So as males we can’t be treated or dedicated like the women? Come on now.

Chivalry is now deemed a problem today. Especially, from all these now “Independent/I don’t need a man” women. Let’s tell the truth! It’s really all about being polite and respectful. Not trying to be a big concern. Many of us were brought up like this in sense of being respectful. Acting common sense. What happened to that? OK I get it. It’s a different time in all, but is there an area left where Men can just be polite and nice?

As I stated, it’s International Men’s Day. And no, not all men are dogs. We deserve our own day just like the women do. And with good reason. Where as the women have their day in March as well as Mother’s Day. We don’t complain there.

So yes to all men, we should embrace this International Men’s Day and just to think about it, it’s been 20 years this month on a Friday that this day was just launched. Or should I say relaunched: According to The Independent Website, “The date coincides with the birthday of the father of Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, a doctor from Trinidad and Tobago who relaunched International Men’s Day in 1999.”

Now again, here is one example that International Men’s Day has been coming forward in a “trolling” sense:

“Every year on International Women’s Day, comedian Richard Herring makes it his mission to educate naysayers on the existence of International Men’s Day.”

“8 March, International Women’s Day is being celebrated today. Why [is] International Men’s Day [not] celebrated on some date? This proves that feminism prevails all over the world,” one person tweeted this year.

“Hey I was as angry as you, but when I Googled it to see if it was possible to set a men’s day up I discovered someone had already done it, It’s November 19th. Good news, hey?” Herring responded.

Now I want to pause here. How many of us actually didn’t know that this day existed? Raise your hand. Confess to your pastor or Lay Speaker. How many of us didn’t research? We supposed to be in the 21st century where the knowledge and information is supposed to be displayed instantly, but many of us really need to go back to school. Literally.

Moving forward in a sense:

“The aim of International Men’s Day is to celebrate positive male role models and to raise awareness of men’s issues. These include topics such as mental health, toxic masculinity and the prevalence of male suicide. International Men’s Day coincides with Movember, which involves men growing their facial hair in an effort to promote conversations about men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.”

Let me stop here again. This is the same stuff we heard in June regarding Men’s Health Month. But what I don’t see here is concerns of bullying, harassment of any kind from sexual, financial, and many other factors that Men also face that rarely gets talked about. Men can be harassed for money, sexual favors of non interest, extortion, domestically abused, and mentally harmed. And its not just men doing the damage. Women can do the same thing and get away with murder also. Watch it females! It’s not just all you and non for us.

“The observances of International Men’s Day are part of a global love revolution,” said Dr Teelucksingh. “International Men’s Day is observed on an annual basis by persons from all walks of life, who support the ongoing effort to improve lives, heal scarred hearts, seek solutions to social problems, mend troubled minds, reform the social outcasts and uplift the dysfunctional.”

Again, this for all (and they mean ALL) males. No matter if you’re single, married, widowed, divorced, etc. It doesn’t matter if you have a job, looking for another degree from college, served in uniform or in jail, or maybe getting a finger up to improve, introverted, extroverted, woke, or just maybe to better themselves around other men, the day is for men not only to celebrate universally, but also to find new ways to improve for themselves, community, and families. After all, can we improve our manliless overall?

To conclude the statement this rounds out about the 2019 occassion:

The theme for International Men’s Day 2019 is: “Making a Difference for Men and Boys”. Warwick Marsh, coordinator of internationalmensday.co.uk, explained the inspiration behind this year’s chosen theme. “We want to promote the need to value men and boys and help people make practical improvements in men and boy’s health and well-being,” he said. “International Men’s Day encourages men to lead by example. Boys need positive male role models. Our broader community also needs positive male role models. This is the best way to create a fair and safe society which allows everyone the opportunity to flourish.”

This is highly agreeable. Us grown men need to be making a difference for our sons, nephews, grandsons, younger male cousins, godsons, and etc. Even if you don’t have kids, but you look out for them. It doesn’t matter if they help you on the job and/or church. Doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if you have health coverage that sucks. Each man must be called to do this every time. Through the good times and bad. And down right ugly. We hear from our women folks that “men need to step up” yet again. I’m still going to ask is, “how?” Step up to what?! That’s like saying that there needs to be a black history course segment in every classroom. Agreeable. But what are you going to do?! What’s on the menu? If the women were leading the example of having the answers, they organize and go. That’s what they do. In all their groups. But I hate to steal a line from the book, “Why Men Hate Going To Church”, men can’t be women. Ever heard the term, everybody is different? To quote WWE’s COO Triple H, “Follow that!”

What I want to get at, is I’m on Twitter or Instagram and I’m doing the #InternationalMensDay search online, and I came across a message or story or posting that dealt with some feminists in Australia that want to end International Men’s Day for a strange reason. That reason was about them being victims of rape, men’s rights, etc. Hold up wait a minute: AUSTRALIA! You are going to let your women citizens stop a International Men’s Day thing because some of the things that men get stumped on alot? That’s not making sense. What would have happen if MEN were stop International Women’s Day per se, and to stop it due to irregular pregnancies, sexism, racism, and FEMALE FORCED Date rape?! Ya’ll tripping. So it’s ok for Women to have their days and Men can’t? Because of flaws of Rape, Embezzlement, Extortion, Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and a host of others mess that Men do? Well guest what ladies, you do the exact same thing! And many of you know it’s the truth! Men know it’s the truth. And if the mistake falls of the Men that turns out to be false, you still won’t believe them! Until they bring the receipts and maybe extra truths from the archives.

So I want to see more International Men’s Day to be acknowledged. Not just because it’s the same day as World Toilet Day. Actually it is. But however, if we have enough gumption to celebrate our female folks on International Women’s Day, there should be that same gumption on celebrating men. And yes Men, I need to say this: We just had our day on November 19th and for the next year, you should be PLOTTING for International Men’s Day 2020. That means you should be engaging new ideas in your men’s meetings, associations, Fraternities, Men’s Church Groups in all. Speaking of that, even the Boys Scouts (not Girls) BOYS SCOUTS NEED TO BE IN THE CONVERSATION! Or any other male group that is in existance. We know who and what they are. There was a time that the Masons were the go to guys when it concerns young black males. As well as any other groups. Now we don’t see that. Why is that? I think that the Masons, Shriners, Kappas, Iotas, Alphas, Sigmas, Omegas, or any other group our there needs to have an BIG OPEN HOUSE where the Men and Boys are invited to learn about the gorups and what it takes to become one to get involved. We see them with their symbols on their cars, jackets, hats, shirts, sweaters, etc. But they need to connect with the folks in the community especially with the young men! We know money is a factor. And it is. If a young male doesn’t have money for getting in, there is no deal. But what the groups should do, is offer a FREE MEMBERSHIP for one year! For all you male groups, can you promote this?

And yes for this International Men’s Day coming up of course men, check on your doctors to make sure you’re straight on the health tip. We know doctors suck. But don’t get so intimidated. How are we are going to function in our families and friends in all, we don’t get ourselves right? Plus not only that, we need to be right in our finance, our spiritual, and other important needs we see and do every time. For us single men who don’t have kids and not married. Some of this may not apply, but some do. And we get discriminated at times we are not tied to some partner. That has to stop. So yes, Happy International Men’s Day FOR ALL MEN! Not just the usual suspects or same people that get honored all day everyday!

Well, it has been a minute that I have written a scratch blog, but as I sat back and listened to all the mess in regarding 45, Brett Kavanaugh, the Midterms, and more stories of women getting raped and others, it’s clear that this came at the right time. There is no question about it.

But yes, I’m scratching my head again.

Males: we know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But during September, did we wore light blue for Prostate Cancer Awareness? And oh, why don’t we see no “Fight like a Boy” gear or stickers with the light blue ribbon?!

When it comes to Introverts and yes I’m one of the many, why that is still a problem for many WHO DON’T UNDERSTAND?! Ask your kinfolk, church folks, co-workers, teachers, etc.

25 years ago, I was so hooked on the Wisconsin Badgers Football team. How has that team really paved way for the next squads that did Rose Bowl wins? Even for the school, and the state? Plus that 1993 squad was the first I saw winning something, ever!

It seems that the Brett Kavanaugh saga is just starting to unravel. All these back stories coming out. And just today, a key Republican Susan Collins just supported to get him on the bench of the Supreme Court. Women I need to ask, you really back this crap? And many feel that the decision “raped” every single American today! Screwed up! If only just only that the more votes should have happened in November of 2016………oh wait!

45 just made a comment about the concern about the sake of the nation’s boys. Really?! What brought this on? Like seriously.

In the local midterms of Wisconsin, if Scott Walker were to win in November, it would be his last. Should Tony Evers and Mandela Barnes just make that happen like under 30 days? Like November 6th?

For all the so-called Woke Conscious folks: Can you please lay down your weapons for once and actually VOTE THE F UP?!

How will the 2018-19 Wisconsin Badgers do without those whom cowardly left the squad?! Come on, man!

Oh, it seems that Halloween is upon us. Let me guess, which demons should we exercise right now? Even if his name is……..you guessed it. Same with females.

For all of the movies lately, why Venom?

For all of my Introverted folks: whatever you do, please do not be a Summer Program Developer in your community! It’s not for us being semi-communicative. Is there a way that there are Developer Programs that INTROVERTED folks can come to? No matter if it’s for a church, or community organization? I need answers! And plus it’s a problem if you have no training or apprenticeships! Or should I say ONGOING Training or Apprenticeships?

Since it’s already Autumn, what has or will be an “Autumn Suprise” coming up? And everyone will be talking about it. Just wait.

I should ask: what’s up with those Brewers? In a good way? Postseason wise.

Why is the United Methodist Church talking about the One Church Plan stuff, and not enough of it is being presented to the Black Methodist Community? Like Black Milwaukee?!

While many of you are laughing about this, the Milwaukee Streetcar (aka The Hop) is debuting on Friday, November 2nd, 2018. Which is like 2 days after Halloween. And 20 days before Thanksgiving. And many of the FB laughable are still making jokes. Hmmm…..we’ll see who has the last laugh. Won’t we?

Is the Fiserv Forum really ready for the new era of Milwaukee Sports and Entertainment? Will the Bradley Center be missed like already, The Marcus Amphitheater at Summerfest?

For my black British folks, I know that October is your month of Celebrating Black History. And yes there were or are Hackers that tried to shut your page down in a racist manner. Man, check those fools! STAY WOKE! Why? The hackers are just scared of the truth about black culture, black existence, and black excellence in all areas! And yet they hack the pages in order to have this fear. Again: As we Black Americans would say, STAY WOKE! Any questions?

Why this quote means well? “Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.”

When we say “It’s Harvest Time” we really mean to say, it’s time to take in the plants. Agree?

Why is Columbus Day is still celebrated in America, KNOWINGLY Columbus was really a thief?! Can’t stand the holiday! And usually bad luck for me gets around Columbus Day. Not with it!

With the blue wave still intact, can it withstand the October Surprise?

How will Black Lightning favor for Season 2?

I’m sure many are not job shaming Geoffrey Owens now since he is no longer bagging groceries for Trader Joe’s, right? Ever since that boost from Tyler Perry giving him a shot on The Haves and the Have Nots.

This needs to be asked: why isn’t the WWE promoting Prostate Cancer Awareness in September? We know Childhood Cancer Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness. But yes the Men’s Health Awareness must be included. I’m just saying, WWE!

Wishful thinking: should the franchise of Revenge of the Nerds be rebooted? Nah, keep the originals!

Since the Packers are in their 100th Season, has it been a slow start? But hey, they’ve started slow and got hot when it’s stone cold. Prove me wrong.

Millennials, your favorite latte season is back. Oh, you know we still say Fall or Autumn, right?

And the last thing to ask: now since Bill Cosby is in jail, and many of the folks non black usually goes free, and you know many ask: why is still the Justice system is BROKEN?! Many because of unfair treatments?!

As the day comes for the Dads, we know that many will celebrate the men that gives us love. We also realize that Father’s Day for the church side is going to be less than Mother’s Day in which we know already. Plus yes there will be women that will moan and complain about the father’s not being there for the kids, not doing nothing for the kids, community, etc. And yes, even the fathers whom are missed in death will be everyday reminded that their ongoing spirit still lingers on. And we have to face the wacky events. And I’m scratching my head again.

Ok, ladies. Let’s be real. Why will some of you will complain about the fathers of your kids this Father’s Day?

Will all the men wear some sort of blue like the baseball teams on Sunday? It’s to recognize prostate cancer awareness.

So after 60 years in the game, IHOP or the International House of Pancakes, will be now known as the International House of……..Burgers?!! Seriously?! Will Pancakes be still selling?

Black folks: June is Black Music Month as we know. Are we educating the masses who love our music in all?

So far the hype of the Milwaukee Streetcar is gaining steam. Plus you realize it’s only 5 months away until it fully debuts, right?

Right now on the election watch here in Wisconsin, August 14th will arrive before you know it. Still voting, right?

Milwaukee: Summerfest will be here. You ready? I got tips!

Why is 45 having issues with Canada? Particularly with the Prime Minister?!

The Brewers still own the NL Central so far. Is it real yet for the Craig’s Crushers?

They say that one of the introverts’ nightmares is job fairs. Career fairs, etc. Is the prophecy true? Do we Introverts need our OWN job fairs?

For the All Black American Legion Posts in Milwaukee/Wisconsin: why do you NOT have any Sons, Auxiliary or Legion Riders Groups? I need answers!

It’s been 20 years since James Byrd, Jr was murdered. By racists in Texas dragging him to his death. Did we forget this, America?

The Milwaukee Bucks’ new home will be opening in a couple of months. Who took the tour so far?

Here in Milwaukee: the Milwaukee Police Department is rocked with pain of the death of Officer Charles Irvine, Jr. We all know what happened yet again and I know many of us are still mixed by the feelings overall by the Police: Racism, Brutality, etc. We all know. Even harassment. Even the unacceptable stuff of the moniker copied of “Blue Lives Matter.” We know it. After Officer Irvine is remembered at his funeral on June 16th, what will the attitudes of us and the Police change for the better?

Sidenote: Reference the Milwaukee Bucks Basketball Player Sterling Brown after he was tased 18 times by the MPD.
CALLOUT: For us in the United Methodist Church, specifically in the Black UMC’s and BMCR: Why are we being attacked? Seriously ask this question at the Annual Conferences! Let them know how you feel.

This needs to be asked: why there are not hordes of Harleys in Milwaukee that do parades for Juneteenth Day? Yeah, I’m asking this that needs real answers!

Anthony Bourdain passed on due to suicide. Why did he go that way?! Man! And also Kate Spade went the same.

Here in Milwaukee: what will it take for the MPS Alumni to continue the “machine of reaching out” to the former students? Besides social media? And what will it take for the Alumni of all High Schools to be FURTHER engaged?

Is there a real reason why many will celebrate Juneteenth Day and or the 4th of July in the Black Community more or less?

In two months: Harley-Davidson will be 115 years old. Black Community: WE NEED TO BE READY WITH THE IRON ELITE – BLACK BIKER JAMS! Can we do this? Last time, we were late, but on time! White folks, do not get upset about a black biker jam in Milwaukee. You know what you said 5 years ago on Facebook!

Milwaukee: who will be the best Sheriff for the County? Richard Schmidt or Earnell Lucas? Make your choice on August 14th.

Of all the field of Wisconsin Democrats for Governor: I think that Mahlon Mitchell is the underdog. Can this underdog be the man? And oh, Wisconsin never had a black governor in its 170 year history!

Why is Sheriff David Clarke still talking on Twitter? Oops, I’m sorry FORMER SHERIFF David Clarke!

Is the time for Scott Walker up? Is this is the end?

For the Fourth of July, should many design a shirt that has “The Struggle Continues” draped in Red, White and Blue? You designers need to be ready now.

So I’m reading about this extended warranty about CarShield. I like many others are tired to pay high costs in car repairs in all. Is this CarShield thing a real good deal to have? I need answers. Real answers!

For my Pride Readers: How is your Pride month doing? Now for those wondering, Stephen’s Spot on this WordPress does NOT discriminate against anyone based on race, creed, class, sexual orientations, etc.

Class of 2018, congrats. Now what? Expect a blog letter!

During the Pridefest weekend in Milwaukee, Harley-Davidson had the “Ride with Pride“. You know Harley attracts all kinds of folks, right? Even the LGBTQIA folks.

Should the Milwaukee Police Department go back and hand out Baseball Cards like they did back in the 80’s? Way before you Millennials and Gen Z folks.

Final overall question before I ask about the Dads: Has the Golden State Warriors whom just now won a back to back championship over the Cavs is considered a “Dynasty?” If you win more Championships in lets say 4 years in a row, then you can call yourself a Dynasty. Not yet, Dub Nation! Even though you got stock of weapons. Just saying.

Now: this is for all the fathers. Ladies chill out. Don’t say a word!

How many Fathers didn’t have a father go to, became a father to go to?

What is the main reason why Father’s Day is so less than Mother’s Day when it comes to church?

My father mattered. Anyone else’s father mattered when they were living? How do we continue to legacy on the real tip without having the hassle of breaking traditions? And knowing each other besides going to Reunions and FUNERALS?! That seems to be the theme for generations. It’s time to break the cycle! Seriously.

For the first time fathers: how will you really support the toughest job of backing your son or daughter?

Since when Target had the “Baby Daddy” cards out? Did I miss it? Nah, Pass.

For the seasoned vets of fathers: you know the game. Is there a father to be that you are training right now to be a great dad?

For us who don’t have children and are men and not fathers: How can we support the kids in the community with the families that need the extra assistance? Always remember, it takes a village!

For us the families that never had an experience of growing up without a father, how have our Uncles, Grandfathers, Older Cousins whom are Dads, still play a role in getting that ultimate objective in life?

I dare to ask: why there are moms “now just blaring the thought” of seeing Father’s Day Cards for Mothers? Like in 2011 in Walgreens!

For the fathers whom are behind prison bars: I know that this is a hard question to ask, but do you really have the heart to see your kids?

For the fathers that have been missing for over 20 plus years from your kids, why did you leave them?!

For the fathers that have been reformed and out of jail, was the lessons learned for the better?

For the fathers that are legendary, are you inspiring the next era to step up?

For the fathers that are still in the fight and hard working, are you quitting or not? Do you still have the fortitude?

And for the families of fathers that keep it real: what is next?

On the real tip though, listen up:

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers!

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who read my blog.

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who are changing lives.

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who are staying in the fight!

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers whom are missed and remembered EVERYDAY!

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who are reclaiming their time. RECLAIM YOUR TIME DADS!

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who aren’t always living foul!

To the non-Fathers that take care of folks on the fly, (like Godfathers) even though that this day is not really for you, but you act upon on being a father in general!

Lastly, even though it’s Father’s Day, don’t single out the Mothers that support. Please don’t. All Fathers Matter! And the Mothers (especially today’s MOTHERS) need to recognize it. Mothers you had your day last month. But today: Happy Father’s Day!

As many know we are in the month of June. The 6th month for me is I’m looking at 6 more months towards age 42. Hard to believe. It’s also the month of Summer, Juneteenth Day, Father’s Day, the Wear Orange for Gun Violence Awareness, Black Music Month and of course, Pride Month for our LGBT community folks.

On the health tip: Men it’s our health awareness month. Start wearing the blue. As usual for this I’m here to give you a summary report of my health condition. Going back to January, I went to the Eye Doctor for a long awaited Eye Exam. My vision at the time was very well overall. But the one thing had on my mind was the then blood pressure. At the time: 152/74. That’s like in the red area and screaming to go to the ER. The second option of this was the obvious one: get checked! So the same day, after realizing stress and not so baked foods can be a factor dealing with death, I made an appointment to go back to a Aurora Health Care clinic in Wauwatosa. So it came, and I chose the week of February 19th for a strange reason. It was the same February 19th that I saw my late father alive in 2017. 4 and a half days later, he died at 69 years old. After that was set, I began to do a four week exercise thing in which I changed my diet, and my weight began to go down slightly. It worked for a while. In February, after I had the physical done, I took a blood test to see where I was in all. Most was good. Even my blood pressure improved. But the next day, I got the worst news of my life about being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. In the same week that my Father passed a year ago. My glucose reading was at 237, with a 9.6% rating. That right there, was Diabetes status. And like many who got it was not a happy camper. And I’m still not a happy camper. Since then, I’ve been going back to the doctors and registered nurses to talk about the status and also trying to manage the symptoms. First I was prescribed with medications like Metformin and Atorvastatin to help reduce the numbers. Plus also I had to exercise yet again at least 30 per day along with a steady diet. Biking, Treadmill, and regular walking. Most of this was relatively new. And some old. Also I had to track my weight daily along with additional blood pressure checks. I keep a list of blood pressure numbers DAILY! Not once in a blue moon. And I use the Color Doctor to examine and review my blood pressure. It really works.

Around April 20th, (aka 4/20) I had to go back for an another appointment to see how I was doing. It was more of a repeat of information that I explored in February. Most of the tests were normal including my prostate and liver. Plus I had to get a Tetanus Shot that hurt like you know what. For prostate checks, Men don’t overlook that. They will do blood checks on those.

Then came May 21st of checking my A1C. Went in, had the blood drawn out with urine samples and waited for 24 hours for the results. Here is the shocker: At around 5:00 in the afternoon, I got a message from my doc’s office and my A1C was reduced (REDUCED) from the 9.6 to 5.8!!!!!!!

I was shocked that with all that grind, prayers, positive music of Hip Hop, Rap, and Rock that woke me up, the stuff worked! Even though that I still have the diabetes, but I felt this was a “small” victory.

Now why I am saying this? It took an act of a male second opinion to go to the doctor. I know us Men don’t like this because of a level of trust. We’ve heard this before. Just to think that I was reading an article about Black Men getting blood pressure checks in Barber Shops. Many of them said they didn’t trust the physicans, worked at least 2 shifts due to the demand of the work they do. But when like me, had their blood pressure checks, it was a wake up call. A wake up call to eat the right foods, get plenty of exercise, take the required medications to ease the diagnosed problems and repeat on point every single day.

Yes like every family member, you think about those whom had diabetes, some other diagnosis, and others, it began to wonder on you like really?! I had a classmate that I knew since high school died at age 39 years old. He was a big dude! But I think his health wasn’t that normal seeing my friend in a oversized casket. And yes when it’s male family members whom passed at 53 or 69, many might look at them being young. My father, at the result of his passing was heart related. His final diagnosis was Coronary Heart Disease and he had that for several years. What led to that, was Type 2 Diabetes. I had an uncle who passed in 1999 unexpectedly at work with a massive heart attack. And he was a type 2 diabetic . This was around 6:30am in the morning!

If that didn’t woke me up going to the medical folks, I don’t know what will. They say that stress, going back and forth between houses, extra difficult work could lead up to issues like Diabetes or other disorders. Mainly that can happen to anyone, but specifically, us Men! Why? It’s in our families. Our history, etc.

Even though that yes Men who like reading my blogs, we don’t at times like doctors. I think they suck. However in fairness, we have to stop this feeling of being scared. Or like, “that ain’t gonna bother me.” What if it did? Then what?!

We know the women will push us in going back. They will. But I feel that us MEN need to talk to other MEN about going to doctors. My Eye Doctor did the same to me. Just us Men. Not only Women. When we are at our Men’s meetings, Golf Outings, Fraternity Meetings, or any other Male thing out there, I know that when stuff like this comes, we want to be there for our kids, nieces, nephews, grandkids, or our young dude or girl looking at us. Specifically our boys.

Health is wealth, Gents.

Dudes: we know this sucks. And I hate this also. But like NFL Hall of Famer and Packers Legend Jerry Kramer said earlier this year, “If you want to go to a ball game……..get checked!”

Get checked and screened, gents. Not just for Men’s Health Month, but for any month on the calendar! And take your boys also.
