It’s been a hot minute since the scratching my head blog has been unleashed. I know it’s been a couple of weeks since my father passed and still dealing with the fact he’s gone.

But I still have something to say about the not so happy current affairs of the country and the world. So here it is.

Why do certain folks have an issue of Angel Rye’s shirt: “We built this joint for free!” Knowing it’s the truth when it concerns African Americans?

Why do certain folks (Church Minded) have to get attacked knowing that they have to go harder every single time in and out of the four walls?

Is going after North Korea really all that?

What’s this? Bill O’Reilly got fired from Fox News? And the station is under fire of racial discrimination of it’s black employees. Why hasn’t no one seem to realize that racism still rears its ugly head in America’s DNA? Especially at Fox News!

Stop hating on the Milwaukee Streetcar, Milwaukee. You know folks need jobs right?

Who was so glad to hear Former President Obama’s voice after all this mess of 45?

Men, when the women had Women’s History Month in March, we realize that every “Movember” is our International Men’s Month, right? Why trip?

The Republicans failed to sign away the Affordable Care Act. Why didn’t they say something to change it then 7 years ago? Oh, they were still hating on Obama.

Was Shea Moisture really that marketable to black women?

For the Serena Williams haters worldwide: she’s beating you. Why hate her and her choice of marriage, and her soon to be child? And Black Kings(and queens): let it go.

Is anyone feeling the Milwaukee Bucks lately? #FearTheDeer #DeerRun

Yo, this Eric Thames “talk” about him doing roids or juicing is nothing but a distraction. Dude was tested three times and nothing came out bad. So what is the real problem? Where are the test results?!! We speculte too much, Americans.

Can African American Men be relaunchers for Adult Internships too?

If moving out of Milwaukee is a solution to get away from violence, why do the suburban areas have issues of drug problems? And some violence issues too? My father once said, “it’s bad everywhere.”

In 2018: the midterms are coming. Midterm Elections. Can Wisco get rid of Scott Walker and David Clarke for real?

Introvert folks, are we still good?

So the State of Wisconsin has this problem of 80,000 plus jobs that need to be filled. As well as Milwaukee. And the companies all say “we need to find people.” Well what is the real problem with hiring, matching, education, training and transportation, in getting that job?

Was the “Mother of all Bombs” really that necessary in Syria?

So the Nintendo Switch is out. Who is really waiting to see if us “grownfolks” gamers can try it?

Milwaukee: you realize our 2nd MPS Alumni Reunion is coming in May, right?

I need to ask this question: and it’s for those who wished reunions. Why do many get mad about a so so class reunion that tried to happen but didn’t work? Also why get mad at all class reunions? You know you can use that to generate your class reunions right?

Why is there not enough representation for African Americans when it comes to groups like The American Legion and it’s subgroups? Note: some of them might have been or are American Legion members.

Why is Wisconsin the state so far that doesn’t do expungements?

Really Ivanka Trump? Your father is a champion when it comes to women? You know what he said to Billy Bush, right?

Question: is it a check up, or a physical? Make up your minds when going to the doctors, folks. Jeez.

Should TJ Watt be a Green Bay Packer?

In May, Military Appreciation Month is approaching. Why do we get “Veterans Day” and “Memorial Day” mixed up?

I need to ask: why did we sent our kids back to school the DAY AFTER EASTER?! Back in my day, we started our spring break on Good Friday, then the week was nothing but a break. And the week after, it was back in the classrooms. Explain!

Do folks really believe the fake news on Social Media that folks display?

Why do folks have to test the Bible in what the folks who want to say that the people are right and the Good Book is bad? Seriously.

If you are a single man with no kids and not married (Especially if you’re Black) why the barrage of assumptions from women who wanted them to have kids and a wife? Um….Last I checked: kids cost money! And many women today have gone “Independent”. Society does suck.

And the last to ask: Is the truth dead? Or just opinionated?

I’m back, folks. Get woke! Stay empowered.

I did this last year in Black History Month. And it’s back again. So yep, it’s time to scratch the noggin and actually boil the questions. Oh yes, we know we’re in the era of that dude named Trump, and many of us might loose our minds. So now I ask, what’s next for the future of Black History Month? And many of us have been spoiled that it’s supposed to be everyday, but hardly: we black folks DON’T acknowledge our history EVERYDAY! WE DON’T. Yeah, we can do this after March and get all charged up, but might ask where was the energy during February? Hmm……It’s the same ole thing we encounter every time.

Are we still believing this statement? Be honest.

Why are those saying that it’s “National African-American History Month”, than “Black History Month?” Black History Month is now global, not just for the United States.

Is the whole thing about the 45th President saying that the word “black” is outdated true? Last I checked: BLACK is BLACK!

Someone stop me: when we black folks say we celebrate our people everyday or I’m black everyday, are we meaning this or just saying to get the monkeys off the back? Just be honest!

Someone stop me again: are we really teaching our children more about black history everyday? Be honest.

I asked this last year many times: Have you missed Obama?

Is Donald Trump really supporting black folks? Or should I say, those whom are on his side are black?

When was the last time that many took their kids to see a tomb of a famous African-American Figure than to see a pair of Air Jordans at the mall?

When was the last time that many saw a famous African-American figure that was still dropping knowledge and took the kids?

How many more of the New England Patriots whom are black will not attend the White House?

Dang MSNBC! Why did you kicked off Tamron Hall?!

Is it just me, or is America wants to be driven by those in office whom do not have experience or just being dumb?

You do know that 2017 is a voting year, right?

Is the black media still on point?

16406626_1414302608601739_7018304325085837033_n

I’m surprised that many in America didn’t know who James White was after the Patriots won the Super Bowl. Um, did anyone checked the Wisconsin Badgers for Reference?

How hard will “The Quad” on BET will go?

Is it just me, or what has gotten into BET with the added cussing in movies?

Had everyone seen Hidden Figures? Not Hidden Colors. HIDDEN FIGURES!

Should AFROPUNK make a Milwaukee Visit? Take my money.

When will President Obama release his memoir? If that happens TAKE MY MONEY!

Black Businesses: are you holding up well?

Was Maxwell out of bounds for his remarks about including whites for Black History Month?

Did The New Edition Story on BET really sparked new ideas for biopics?

Should all of the black Alumni of High Schools or Colleges rock dashikis for Black History Month? Primarily with the school colors we know?

Who still reads books? Mainly African-American Novels?

For my Black Introverts, are we good? Are we are still holding up to resist?

This year in Music Anniversaries: 30 years of Jody Watley’s Real Love, Whitney Houston’s I wanna dance with somebody under the self titled Album, Whitney. Kool Moe Dee’s How You Like Me Now made the cut, NWA and the Posse made it’s debut by the group itself. Even Michael Jackson’s Bad was good.

25 years of R.Kelly & The Public Announcement’s She’s Got That Vibe and Honey Love. Sir Mix-A-Lot’s Baby Got Back. EnVogue’s Funky Divas of Free Your Mind, Giving Him Something He Can Feel, My Lovin’and Give it up Turn it loose. Mary J. Blige’s What the 411? Whitney Houston and The Bodyguard Soundtrack. Boyz II Men (ALL FOUR OF THEM) serenade the women with the single, End of the Road. Also, Prince with the Love Symbol Album premiered, and Bobby Brown had the joint Bobby out with Humpin’ Around as a hot single. Just to name a few.

20 years of Missy Elliott’s Supa Dupa Fly, Puff Daddy and Family’s No Way Out, Aaliyah had The One I gave my heart to and Hot Like Fire, Timbaland/Magoo debuted Welcome to our World, Will Smith was back with Big Willie Style, The Notorious BIG’s last album before his death: Life after Death, and Michael Jackson had the album out called “Blood on the Dance Floor.” Just to name a few.

15 years ago: Ashanti and Tweet both debuted with their albums, Musiq Soulchild had “Juslisen”, Meshell Ndegeocello had the album, Cookie: The Anthropological Mixtape. Plus Donell Jones had the joint Life Goes On, Will Smith was Born to Reign, Nelly had the joint Nellyville, Sean Paul had the Dutty Rock thing going, LL Cool J: 10, Deborah Cox (one of my favorite black Canadian exports) had the album out called The Morning After, and Missy Elliott took us back in time with old school hip hop beats in Under Construction. Just to name a few.

And 10 years of Angie Stone’s The Art of War. Plus Timbaland took us a Shock Value favor with Keri Hilson singing hooks. What music are you celebrating….IN BLACK HISTORY MONTH?

This year in Movie Anniversaries: 10 years of I am Legend, Why Did I Get Married? and Black Snake Moan. 20 years of Men in Black, Soul Food, and Amistad. 25 years of Class Act, Mo’ Money, Bebe’s Kids, Diggstown, Malcolm X, and Trespass. 30 years of Beverly Hills Cop II, Leonard Part 6, Sign ‘o’ The Times, and Shaka Zulu. What flicks are you celebrating….IN BLACK HISTORY MONTH?

This year in TV Shows that are Anniversary material: Martin. 25 years since WZUP, Martin Love the kids, get the steppin’, and many of the quotes that we know it like that. Also, Living Single debuted in the same year also of 1992. Plus, The Cosby Show ended the 8 year reign the same year. Easy question: What shows are you celebrating in Black History Month?

Is Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots show still rolling with new ideas?

Will TVONE continue to roll hard with shows and news?

We keep talking about the firsts in Black History. Who’s next?

I’m not easily fooled by the phrases, Black Future Month, or Black Conscious Month. Nope. Wanna know why?

I’m not easily fooled by this notion of blacks not referencing the ideals that Africans were sold by their own and America ate up the idea of slavery commodity. Wanna know why? (Hint: Part of it is the truth whether we like it or not.)

When will all schools acknowledge Black History? Not just in the cities.

When all those who hate the idea of Black History Month actually stop hating?!

When will all those who don’t like the thought of having a Black History Month actually read what Dr. Carter Woodson wrote about the miseducation portion of us not knowing our history?

And yet again, how will all of this be worthy for our children, especially our black children that need to know this? Not just in school, but in the homes, and certainly in other areas like the church and community centers?

I learned black history in the house, school, and church!

So, Happy Black History Month! or #HapppyBHM2017 whatever many prefer.

Oh for those of us whom of the Generation X, Y and Millennials whom are 18 and up to about 45, next week we like those many before us that have to make a decision: voting in a new administration for our country. Plus maybe activating or reactivating those whom want their seats back in the Senate, House, or others. No matter how we feel about the candidates or their stance, know this: WE NEED TO VOTE! No more hiding before the keyboards or being so called conscious about not voting period. The voting games maybe somewhat “rigged” but what are we doing to “unrig” it? Other than whining and complaining everything on Social Media or our cliques. Oh yes, I just went there.

To us voters between 18-45 years old:

It’s me, Stephen. You know that blogger you’ve noticed lately?

I haven’t written a blog letter in a minute, but I feel this is the blog letter that must be written. Our generation is in Crossroads mode.We see the signs of concern. Majority of us probably will and will not vote for a cluster of reasons. But look here: if you are not voting this Election Season towards the end of this year and write some stupid remark, then you must be dumb as hell. Do you realize that our future is on the line? Majority of us don’t have the caliber of our Baby Boomer and Greatest Generation counterparts who raised us to be where we are now. Yes, we have alot to be grateful for right now, but we must not overlook the playbooks that got us here in the first place. Many of us got great degrees, owing our stuff like clockwork. Nothing wrong with that. I see that everyday. But again, we didn’t get here on our own. Many of us know that we had folks whom acted wise and gave us butt whoppings acting up pushed us to a point where we want to be.

Had a chance to talk to my 70 year old mother today and we compared contrasts about why there are those of us who know about the assasinations of MLK and others in our history books, BUT NEVER LIVED IT! She highlighted that if it weren’t for Black people in Milwaukee years ago, there wouldn’t be black folks living near the Grand Aveune Mall or any other part of Wisconsin Avenue. And it seems that about the Millennials: the act of not acknowledging about the past before them and keeping it current is not right. If you are a Millennial and only will vote for the locals and not national is not a good idea. If you are a Gen Y that stated on Social Media that you will not vote: that is inexcusable! And if you a Gen Xer who would think that Daffy Duck, Casper the Ghost, Jesus Christ, Lion-O, Cobra Commander, Optimus Prime, Megatron, or Mickey Mouse would make the cut on your ballot, CLUELESS! That will get no play. NONE. And the thing is it’s like we don’t no part of this.

This also probably have ties to slavery in some ways that the way of thinking of back then, translates to now. Yeah I said it! I know some of you probably don’t want to hear that, but guess what: It’s part of the painful truth like White Supremacy. And we in the black community know it.

Remember when Cory Booker talked about of the Gen X’ers being on third base after all being drunk and happy like we don’t see the real reasons why we can’t have all this goodies that many of our folks fought hard to get! And I don’t give a care how educated we are. Yeah we got those degrees hanged up on our walls and offices. But many of US aren’t educated to give back to our Alumni functions for scholarships! Hmmmmm…Oh you think I ruffled the feathers? I told the truth!

Many of us aren’t “educated enough” to go to the doctor, and yes ladies I know it’s “Movember” in which men have to be on our game when our health is on the line. But here’s my question, isn’t every month a Movember?! Whereas the every month is Aids, Cancer, Diabetes Prevention, Domestic Violence Awareness, Gun Violence Awareness, and any other Awareness on the calendar? Tell me I’m wrong! Not just men, but also women and children.

I need to see a “VOTING AWARENESS” Month. And it doesn’t matter whom is on the ballot, I just want to Vote Up!

I want to see a “CAREER AWARENESS” Month in which many of us whom are unemployed and underemployed that want to work and make a freaking LIVING! Many of us or some of us got that drive, but not actually executing it to the next level.

If we can have THOSE AWARENESS Months like Cancer, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Childhood Health, Bullying, Gun Violence Awareness and any other awareness that we put up each month, I want to see a Career Awareness and a Voting Awareness month. I suppose you guys like that, huh?

For voting: I think we’re just not engaged. I think the sign came at the top of the year that 2016 will be a “Hard Election” in which the main Administration of the Obamas will be going out in January 2017. And yes, every single hater on the planet will be waving that goodbye flag in a racist manner. President Barack Obama will be deeply missed that he wasn’t that bad after all. Maybe there were those that should have given him more credit of the work he did. Maybe those so-called fools who decided to go against all the calls that Obama did try to bring out should have worked. Even fully try to decide the best course for the Afforable Care Act. In which like Black Lives Matter is working. That’s right I said it!

What does it all mean, you ask? Well yes we’ve made some great strides, but the work IS STILL NOT DONE! That means we have to work hard, do our jobs everyday, give back, fight the forces of racism, sexism, shaming, and any other ISM that is on our target list. For us black folks, we have to always work twice as hard. That will never change no matter who is in office. Enough of us being all so-called conscious after looking at Hidden Colors. Enough of all the mess. Enough of the “I gotta go get my hair done than voting” talk. If we can stand in line to get that new IPhone or at the club looking at Lil’ Boosie, can we stand in line to vote on November 8th and EVERY SINGLE ELECTION DAY AFTER THAT?!

The elders will be leaving us soon and they have already solidified the future, but it’s mainly up to us to take care of the things we have to do to extend the life of groups, organizations, churches, your business connections, the schools, colleges, Alumni Associations, and others. It’s not just the next four years, it’s the four after that. And so on.

So: GenX, Gen Y and Millennials: STOP BEING SO F-ING LAZY! Stop this being that “this won’t effect me”. Oh it will. After Election Day is done, don’t even think about complaining on Facebook, your texing buddies, or any other connection that you weren’t the ones who went to the polls and didn’t cast a ballot. I’ve been voting for 20 years out of my life and I voted in boring elections, high elections, and elections I never really cared about. Plus when Obama was being elected for the first time. But I still voted regardless and I don’t have a complaint to do it!

So why in THE HELL are we tripping? STOP THE PAIN! STOP THE LAZINESS! And just put away all this mess that voting that won’t make it. It will make it, but you have to put in the WORK! I don’t care if you hate Hillary’s guts or like her ideas, or despise the effect of Donald Trump and what he recently said about nasty women, the disabled, getting the clues of turning back the clock with Jim Crow, and the on going talk about the 1994 Crime Bill that BILL CLINTON put into effect way back. Hillary had nothing to do with that. Let’s be clear on this. Now add that to the radio or websites.

This is not a reality show, nor back in High School where you used to believe EVERYTHING! But in reality, when leaving High School and those rumors, will be addressed and debunked personally.

VOTE UP!

Sincerely,

Stephen

It’s a been a minute, but I’m back fresh and new with a Three Way Dance. For this, it’s all about the three things I’ve been reading about lately. As well as everyone else.

First: The saga of the kneeling, siting down during the National Anthem of Colin Kaepernick.

Yes, the same Colin Kaepernick whom was a dominate player when running the Pistol Plays with the 49ers, member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity of the Divine 9, a guy that was beating the Green Bay Packers twice, and oh, here’s something: He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. And grew up a Packers fan. Yes, Colin was a Packers Fan when Brett Favre was running the show. In the recent Preseason game between the Packers and the 49ers, there was a scene during the national anthem in which usually every stands during the playing of America’s Theme Song. However, there was only one player who did not stand, and that was Colin Kaepernick. Colin was sitting down during the anthem. And when that shot of him sitting down was shown on pics, oh guess what: You so-called Americans had to go in on him just because he didn’t stand up. Wow. Oh, when the Niners were in their next game, he kneeled. Another Niner player kneeled also. Plus one of the Seattle Seahawks, Jeremy Lane sat on the bench while the national anthem played on. Yes, as crazy as it seems, there are those who are using the sitting and kneeling thing to exercise their constitutional right to protest about the injustices about the effects of People of Color that goes on everyday.

Now let’s talk about Colin’s thing. He says and I quote: “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

That was the lighting rod. Of course that many who heard that didn’t sit well with being “OVERLY PATRIOTIC” in a sense that yes it’s about the recoginition of our military who fought, served and died for our freedoms that we dance around like Pokemon Go fans in a park. I’m just kidding on the Pokemon thing! Hey, if you like Pokemon Go, nothing against that. But what I’m saying is that the flag/anthem protest thing in athletes have been done before. Espeicially Black Athletes! Remember Mamoud Abdul-Rauf: Who was formally known as Chris Jackson before converting to Islam of the Denver Nuggets, yeah that guy. When he was with the team way back in the 90’s, he was standing during the anthem but was not looking at the flag. He was praying with his hands close to his face. And yes, there were folks were mad at him for the disrespect per se for the flag. Tommie Smith and John Carlos were famous for the Black Power Salute in 1968, but also got targeted because of their protest. Keep in mind also, that 1968 was also the year that Martin Luther King was assassinated. And segregation was still running amuck. So stuff like this is nothing new, but with those who are just now new, and being recent, you are getting a first hand education on why stuff like this happens and will appear in your textbooks. And yes, school is back.

When I was listening to the commentary about Colin Kaepernick here in Milwaukee, on the black radio stations via WNOV and other black related outlets, I’ve been hearing the callers pouring in their commentary about “Oh, Colin Kaepernick did it for all the black people in America!” “Colin Kaepernick was born in Milwaukee….” And many others. Folks in Milwaukee: I’ve mentioned this years ago when Colin was on scene with Pistol Plays, and making the Packers miss, and couldn’t win a freaking Super Bowl, what has Colin Kaepernick done for Milwaukee? What has he done? What has Colin Kaepernick done for Wisconsin? Yes, Colin Kaepernick was born in Milwaukee, but NEVER CLAIMED Milwaukee as his home! Never! His family of course moved when he was young due to high school and college. But never claimed the city as home! The late great Gene Wilder, whom recently passed was born in Milwaukee, and went to one of my rival schools: Washington High School. And yes there was a movie reference about Milwaukee in one of his films. What does it take to give back to Milwaukee you ask? Try volunteering in an area that you know VERY WELL in Milwaukee. I don’t care about the schools or community centers you know because of your childhood or where you used to hang out in finding some dude /chick for a date. If you know that Church that you go to for volunteer work, or neighborhood or whatever thing you know well in Milwaukee to go to, THAT IS WHERE YOU START! You start that and build up. Real talk folks! Yes, I see the famous folks whom were Milwaukee born, raised somewhere else, but some of them do come back to give back. Eric Benet was here years ago to make an album in the same neighborbood that he grew up in Milwaukee. He even helped served food at a local McDonalds and that restaurant was jammed pack! Tank, the R&B singer that you see on the show, Born Again Virgin on TVOne, he came back to a concert here in Milwaukee to perform. He was born here. Now I probably might in the future that I might get those “I’m sorry you were born in Milwaukee”quotes but I’m going to comment that later on in the third part of the story. But seriously folks, what has Colin Kaepernick did, was for himself. HIS constritutional right. Not for all in the black community in the country, per se!

The second dance card: The Truth of ITT Tech.

As many around the country know, yes, school is back in session. But however, ITT Tech recently has been coming under fire about their educational concerns. The recent closing of ITT Tech around the country shocked many who have gotten started or continued with their majors is disappointing and will take their educational experience elsewhere. But I’m here to tell you that my experience began with ITT Tech, was in late 1994 when I was still a Senior at John Marshall High School. They came to the school in one of my English Classes, in talking about the classes and majors and they wanted to have some insight from the students at the time. Later on, I got a phone call from one of the recruiters from ITT, a black man if you will, to have to meet me at home for a well rounded interview with my parents. The interview went well, and also giving me an overview about ITT to have those connections with Archtietture, the Military, and many others. Later after that, the school picked me of course and I was selected to come to the school for a visit. To see the classrooms and labs. The ITT Tech thing seemed very interesting. And I got my financial aid thing set up and I had to take a test to have a fit per se in getting a spot on the campus.I flunked the first test, but passed it on the second try. After I graduated from Marshall in 1995, I had a short summer rest. Real short. When June 12th came, I started the classes right away. Yep! Sure did. I wish I had taken a year off to process my brain like Malia Obama is doing now. But in between the classes, I remember taking the Bus from 41st and Capitol to 63rd and Layton which was an hour ride listing to my CD player in all. The classes I remember were lectures and labs. Success in Learning, was one of the subjects was well known. Other classes of Drafting lectures and labs, were so-so Ok. But the harder stuff was seeing the Educational Serivces Area to see how much progress was made. Most of that, was not that great. There were times I stayed after class to catch up on classwork of the draft drawings to get the extra credits, but usually that wasn’t enough. And plus I got my first MLK Scholarship in January of 1996.

So in the summer of 1996, I withdrew from the school to go to the one Tech college I know: Milwaukee Area Technical College. When I got to the MATC Downtown Campus, I remember taking their asset tests to see where I would stand in getting that extra start. Here is the thing: I took the Basic Skills Courses for ONE Semester and passed them all. Plus also, I took the Accuplaer Test on Campus, passed that to get into the Printing and Electronic Publishing Program in 1997. And that transition of that was alot more simplified than ITT Tech. In 2004, way after I graduated from MATC in the Y2K, I was already taking distance ed courses with UW-Stout. Plus when I was in one of the Teleconference Rooms before linking up with one of the classes at the time, there was talk about ITT Tech not being a good school. And I lend in my experience about what happened, MAINLY with Basic Entrance Qualifications that ITT didn’t have. One of my male UW-Stout classmates was at ITT one time, that in his experience, was his comment: “ITT Tech is Full of Sh*t.” So we got one thing common on that. But yes that was my expereince that happened in 1995-1996 in Greenfield, Wisconsin.

Note to myself: I should have gone to MATC in 1995!

In the wake of the closing, I need to ask: Should ITT Tech payback ALL THE MONEY that many were robbed of years ago? (No question is a dumb question) Especially those who withdrew years back? If anyone from ITT can read this, I WANT MY MONEY BACK! What ever was paid back then, I WANT BACK! Since you guys are closing up shop, give all the former students their free transcripts and a check. Even for those who didn’t graduate. Plus for those whom are in the struggle at ITT and having the closing of the school on you, my heartfelt sympathies. But just to let you know that your experience may have ended, but your Tech Colleges will take up the slack to help you out. For those in Milwaukee, go to MATC and finish your Associates. Or any WTCS 2 year school. If you were taking the classes for Bachelor’s Degree for ITT, I would transfer those credits to a University. Take it to any UW-School. Even UW-Stout! Yes, I said Stout. Take that! If I were you, I would consider either finishing your Education at MATC and/or a University. Manily at the University of Wisconsin whatever! It ain’t over, folks. You can begin again, but your journey is not yet broken!

Third dance on the card: The still ongoing saga of the Milwaukee Unrest.

As many of us in Milwaukee are trying to adjust to our daily lives of work, school and play, we are still dealing with the ongoing unrest that is a constant struggle we know. For all the REAL citizens whom are praying for the city from the outside, I speak as a citizen to say thank you. Keep praying for Milwaukee as well as any other city that is going through an Unrest Session that is against People of Color to go through.

First, I was reading a Op-Ed story from CNN about Milwaukee recently. But the thing was, it was coming from a former Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Journalist, Sarah Hoye. Many of us remember Sarah writing for the JS Columns way back, but what we didn’t know the most was her upbrining in the Sherman Park area. It was titled, “The Milwaukee You Don’t Know” and Sarah being the native born was on point. As I was reading her opiniion piece on the site, I was clearly amazed and shocked that she had to go through all that hate growing up. Not getting a date for the Prom or Homecoming. Being called a Nigg*r or Monkey while being hated on, and she also writes that there were those who told her that she couldn’t mount much to anything that she can accomplish and etc. Reminds me of my childhood when folks were telling me that I can’t do certain, or can’t comeback of a certain behavior problem. Isn’t that right Milwaukee Urban League’s Betty Speed and Manpower? After all, isn’t that part of Milwaukee’s problem with all the unrest of crabs in a bucket? Let’s be honest here: we still have that today! You still have black folks hating on black folks even if they were brought up in a household full of educators, and you look at a male member of the family thinking he aint sh*t. I don’t care who is reading this part, you might be that person that is doing it.And you sit behind a desk telling him this! And I’ve seen white folks do the same thing. Oh there will become a time that when your end comes, you may be BEGGING HIM to apologize or to admit of any wrong doing. Trust me, I’ve seen it and I’ve read about it. Just watch it! Later on in the article, Sarah highlights her opinion piece by these words, and I STRONGLY AGREE!

But here’s the thing: I am not sorry for being born and raised in Milwaukee.

Can anyone say “Praise the Lord!” Listen: I’ve heard folks say, I’m from the Chi, folks cheer. I’m from the MIA (or Miami), folks cheer. I’m from New York, the BK, Jersey, Philly in the house! I’m Straight outta LA or Compton, or Atlanta, and other city that folks will cheer for. Why is it that when Milwaukee is in the convo, folks had to bow their heads as being sorry?! What is this?

Am I sorry being from Milwaukee? HELL NO!

Am I sorry being born, raised, educated, worked in Milwaukee? HELL NO!

I am not sorry for being born here for any reason. Yes, Milwaukee may have punk haters who don’t give a two cents about your upbringing, like other cities in all. But there are those in Milwaukee that want to give you a chance! Even if you think you might scoot to the other cities, but there are those who will give you a chance, here! And it REALLY depends on who you know. Now some are probably are going to say, “Who in the hell in Milwaukee can help me?” Who?!

My question is: who in the hell that knows you very well in Milwaukee?

Who knows you, your family, your Alumni, your neighbors, your school where your kids play, your community center, your church, your local officer that comes by your neighborhood or church, your insurance person, your store owners, musicians, or others. Even a Funeral Director at a Funeral Home that also does communty work that YOU KNOW VERY WELL! That is what’s up. We got them here!

Even those who that volunteers or spends time tutoring your children after school, but again, it depends on who YOU KNOW! Even those who are finding jobs. Especially for city likes to take in those who have more experience than those who don’t. And those that want the skills to improve. Again it depends on who knows you! That is what it needs to figure out. Link with those who YOU KNOW that KNOWS YOU! Plain and Simple. Then from there, then you can connect with those you don’t know that expand.

Now getting back to the Unrest: I was watching a special on our local station, CBS 58 about the subject, “Milwaukee at a Crossroads”. Before I get into the commentary, review this video from the September 7th, 2016 showing. No Commercials! It’s part 3 of the special that was aired this week.

Milwaukee at a Crossroads Part 3 from CBS 58 News on Vimeo</a>.

The entire 1 hour special that was aired in no commericals, was centered around the subject of those losing their children and teens in gun violence in the past. The mother of the late Marcus Debak was on the special. Marcus was killed on a Milwaukee playground back in the mid 90’s. The mother knows the most, on how that a child like Marcus can be taken out with despair. The many other parents and Great-Aunts were sitting in the room with the pictures of their loved ones that they have lost. Everyone of them has a common story of how they were killed. Many of them believed that Guns weren’t the problem. It was the people behind the barrel that caused the problem. Most of us haven’t heard that in a while. And no, it was not about about having those right to bear arms things. And many of them had asked the same question about, how can something like this be stopped or preventable. I think it’s going to take an ongoing effort to have this to stop. We can create all the programs, the getting the church folks out, the jobs stuff all we want. Event the activisms. But WE NEED to stop running in circles in what we really want and just go get already!

As far as the orange fence around Sherman Park, I’m glad it’s down. I can understand that Sheriff David Clarke had it up to increase the curfews or law and order. But it has been going on far enough. Personally, I think the County Executive had made the right call by removing it. Of course, it didn’t sit well with all wtih David Clarke, but when the judge made the ruling about the removal, that was it! Nothing more.

Milwaukee is still in progress. In order to complete this progress, the work must be done. It will take a long time, but still it must be done!

I just had to do this. With all the elements of what’s going on, I’m putting out a scratching my head post, which is the current edition. Even though it’s post 4th of July in all, I’m going ahead with this.

Why can’t all cops be like Nakia Jones ?

Yes its true, blacks were slaves during July 4th 1776. But you know there were those unsung that wanted to get away in order to fight to get their freedom papers right?
Where are the real black patriots whom have “black patriotism for country and world” and being black at the same darn time? Even being a real truth teller? And black conscious? And unapologetic?

Why there are some African-Americans whom look at the American Flag being “racist?”

When it comes to the issues, what is up being one sided? And you know what I’m talking about!

Is Wendy Williams that ignorant about the HBCU’s?

I know many had to go hard on Jesse Williams and his speech at the BET Awards. Had the haters sat down yet?

Will the church pastors talk about the recent events of the shootings? Even afterwards?

Have anyone, just anyone followed “my rules” for Summerfest 2016?

Summerfest 2017 will be so golden that they have invite all those that used to work there. Should they do that?

While many are continuing support for the slain officers in Dallas, Texas; many are still have not forgotten about Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. And will be funeralized this week. Does anyone see the pattern here?

You know that the Wisconsin State Fair got next, right?

For you bogus Credit Card pushers, why are you scamming folks?

Man listen: why folks on Youtube have to test Dick Gregory?

Question:why so many folks and you know them, post stuff on Social Media and most they think its true? KNOWINGLY some of that is FALSE!

Black folks: you know you could celebrate Juneteenth Day and the Fourth of July if you like, right?

What is the real concern about those asking about church folks who worship on Sundays, and then go out to eat at Red Lobster, a small family restaurant? What is wrong with that?

Scenario: You hate church. You can’t stand the preaching or the money. And go full postal on social media. Why can’t you go in person say what you got to say to the Pastor and the Church? Are you THAT scared?! That naive?! I dare you to try.

Is the Zika Virus that real serious?

Seriously, can someone school Sheriff David Clarke about this rant about Black Lives Matter? And no mention about the KKK. Shameful! Milwaukee, we are embarrassed by his half carcassed commentary.

Do many still fear Intelligent Black Men that want to do good, or many think that they’re all in one lump sum group that they are all the same as the bad folks?

Yo: what is up with the Jobs section in the Sunday Milwaukee Journal Sentinel being thin? I remember when it was thick!

Milwaukee Suburbans who hate the city: yet you hate Milwaukee, but post negative memes about the city and you don’t live there. EXPLAIN?

Will there be a Hits 3 and Hits 4 out of the vault of Prince?

United Methodists: does the BMCR still count?

Why those that used to go to church or never set foot in a church thinks that “all christians”are the same hypocritically, in which they are not? Almost many think that black people think the same, which is not new but a myth.

Why do folks on Social Media AT TIMES say they hate Church, but then turn around that they comment:”you can go to any church you wish?” #VERYCONFUSED

They say violence is the same but the cameras are new. Agree?

Is it just me, or has this Summer season really flown by so fast?

Oh, Cleveland: are you really happy you got a title after a 50 year drought?

Why is Azealia Banks is still talking? Has she NOT learned her Twitter lesson? GO SIT DOWN IN YOUR ROOM, LITTLE GIRL!

For all these younger conservatives like Tomi Lahren: Can you all go in the room in sit down after commenting about things you have no knowledge about? Black Panthers, etc.

Man, some of you officers need to turn in your badges and guns for all that mess about your KKK alignments. Can we have more officers like Nakia Jones who is so deep?

Think about this: Can us African-Americans wear the American Flag in our cause for Black Lives, and against the discriminations of us being black period?

Do we still think this example from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is a reality like right now?

Did the Second Independence Day Movie lived up to the hype?

Will Team USA be having an “American Summer” in Rio?

Americans: If you really think that Black Lives Matter thing is a terrorist group, you must be on that haterade. Why?

Huff Black Voices called out the so-called #AllLivesMatter mantra. #AllLivesDidntMatter. They did it 21 times. I’ve been saying and questioning: If All Lives Really Matter, Ask yourself why. Ask why, how, who, what, when, and where. Can those do that? Put up or shut up! #IfAllLivesReallyMatter

Does Laser Bond USA really work?

Ladies: I know this Irvin man or #MrStealYourGrandma is going on right now, but what happens when men look at #MsStealYourGrandpa?

And the last question: And this is for Milwaukee: La La Brown and Kool Aid’s Killer is in custody. A possible lead is finally in play for Alexis Patterson. Is there a way to heal?

BONUS QUESTION: For all the folks who fly American Flags, or White Folks whom Fly the flag the most. One my local black radio stations WNOV in Milwaukee had a statement of flying the flag in regarding black folks. Can you GIVE A REASON why African-Americans (for those whom are still on the RGB tip and conscious and others) should fly the flag? On a shirt, lapel or houses.Break it down for us. And think before you answer. Yes, we are Americans. But provide this answer!

It’s time for a Double Take: This is the post Easter Edition. If your belly is full from all that Easter Dinner, then it’s time to hit the track. Get out and jog. Ok back to the thing: Here we go. Time to put the world events on play and talk about Milwaukee and part of Wisconsin.

Take one: Us folks in Wisconsin are scratching our heads about the attitude of Senator Chris Larson. May I add, he running for office in Milwaukee County. Via the County Executive seat held by Chris Abele.

In the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Black Radio Stations 860 WNOV, there have been a distain message about the words like this to Senator Lena Taylor in regarding this:

“Are you on your meds today?”

Meds? What Meds?!!! Really?

And the last thing that our Senator said that “Enjoy your last day here!”

This was made public and also via Text.

For the last couple of days the news of this incident has hit not only WNOV, but also the Black Milwaukee Newspapers. The Milwaukee Community Journal also picked up the story in a long sentence via the title, “The World According to Chris Larson” and all this stuff that has been noticed and publicly summarized is coming out. Matter of fact, it’s really out. It’s been out. It’s been out since day one. Now we got this election coming up on April 5th, and yes we got decisions to make. However, I will NOT support any candidate that has personal gut check thoughts, mean spirited feelings toward another person, like Senator Lena Taylor. I’ll say this, I’ve seen her work and ideas plus accomplishments as a State Senator. And a black mother woman! Now also, another scene in regarding Chris Larson, is about former State Senator Nikya Harris-Dodd’s Hair. Really?! Being all nappy. Seriously?! And I’m reminding myself that this is a Election Season.

For all you Chris Larson fans, that you probably casted a vote for him, I know he’s your pick. But if he is really your pick, YOU BETTER HOLD HIS ACTIONS VERY WELL like you “checked” Lena Taylor. And you know who you are! Speaking of that, let these videos do the talking in which has everyone paid attention:

Exhibit A: This one was on March 20th, and yes there were some folks who felt that an apology was need to commence.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/pv9jsag9yjpv7vk/20160320_154114.mp4?dl=0

Exhibit B: This is the most recent one.

In this clip, it was like fireworks about to be set off! With this “apology” coming from Chris Larson to me was kind of weak. I don’t think if he’s sincere with an apology that has the black community on high alert. I don’t know if he knows that his “apology” is coming so late after all of this. All of this about Lena Taylor, Black Hair, and anything that black period in Milwaukee in a negative effect is so dumb. And also may I add that this on the side of the Democrats in Wisconsin? There are those in the state, that has been widely pointed out, that like Republicans, Democrats can be jerks and racists too. Especially those who are “Progressives”, “Liberals” and so forth. Just saying. Now for you Republicans and Independents folks, don’t come to me and say I told you so! I’ve been knowing this! Thanks to the black radio stations and networks. Like I said, I’ve been knowing this. And also, I’ve been knowing that there are some who are willing to “Sellout” to get their jobs saved for endorsements. Trust me, I’ve read about it. Even it concerns black politicians and yes black reps. That is what is happening here! And that makes the community even more scarred like those who don’t like working with black folks at the jobs. Or placing the black kids in other schools, or yes even the church, and also that particular group that they think wouldn’t fit in. Trust me! I’ve seen it and read about it. What this angle of Chris Larson, Sen. Lena Taylor, or many others who aligned themselves to be saved up for that safe box for him or anyone else to go against things, will be realized, it was all dumb and stupid!

And again, an election is coming up.

Take two: This hat though. REALLY?

As I was eating my dinner on Easter, I turned to this pic of Lalah Hathaway wearing a bucket hat that had the Greek Letters of Alpha Phi Alpha on it.

This is the pic that was deemed upsetting straight from Instagram.

image

I need all of you Alpha Phi Alphas to settle down. I need all of you A Phi A’s to help me to understand while your mottos and quotes are: “Onward and Upward”, and “Ice Cold”, and saying the numbers of 06! And being in the first of the Divine 9 that also says “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All” with the seven jewels booming, why the HELL are you upset about Lalah Hathaway wearing her father’s hat of your Fraternity?! Many of you I bet didn’t know who Donny Hathaway was until you read his name!

CALLOUT: Like my mother used to say, I’ll give you something to cry about!

All she was doing was paying respects to her father. What is wrong with that? Nothing! I can understand the rules and regulations that the attire you wear is only for you. And yes, you worked hard for it. Some of you were “pledged harshly” for it. Admit it. But why the uproar of this? Have the lessons of your founders influenced this to be idiots of a hat?!

If I see you per say, wearing the Cross and Flame of the United Methodist Church (my denomination) and you wear like it’s nothing, I will call you out on it. I will school you no matter you had no knowledge of it! Or if see you wearing a UW-Stout shirt like it’s nothing, don’t expect me to get at you guys and asking do you know where the college is? Hint: its in Wisconsin. And that goes for the rest of the Divine 9 groups. You all supposed to help the uplifting and inspiration of the Community in all, but with this like any other groups, anyone can be a jerk and cry all because of an attire like a hat! Good Lord!!!

I still respect you. All of you have done work in the community, nothing but respect. And if I was part of that with this outburst, I just shut my mouth. It is pointless. That is not what I would agree to joining up.

Can I get an Amen?

I”ll bet many are laughing at this and saying that this “incident” is nothing more than a non-issue. What is a real issue: try voting. Try going to a doctor, both men and women who haven’t got one yet and fear of going. (Hint, it’s not just men fearing) Try clearing up a reason why Pfife Dawg’s death at 45 should not be a lone reason, but others like him should be mad because they’re names aren’t being mentioned the way they’ve checked out with precautions of Diabetes! Try going out and get lost folks back into Church. Try educating our young boys(and girls) not to drop out of school. Try finding a trade, a job, a house, start a family, raise/adopt kids, and I’ll bet many are not doing those because they don’t wanna be soft. Should I start a license to ill? Hell no! Or even tell Introverts like me that its alright not to apologize for being quiet.

Some of you, whom probably put Lalah Hathaway on blast over a f*ing hat must be those young frats. Older cats know well. Yeah I got respect for the Divine 9, and maybe probably getting a spot, but this you need to work on your skills! Lalah is not the problem. Nor probably didn’t know the rules. Who is the problem you ask? Alphas: Look in the mirror.

Get it together. You got kids watching.

Oh, what. You thought I was done, huh?

Well this is Leap Day 2016 and like many days, this is a extra bonus. I did this with the Olde to Sagittarius Poems, so I’m going to do this with the Black History Month thing. And trust me, it’s long waited to do this. So it’s time to do this on Leap Day in which many might forget about February 29th or so.

Listen up black folks: Black History Month is, was and our time to shine to start.

Without the use of our ancestors, we wouldn’t have a part to spark.

No matter we talk about the Pharaohs, Kings and Queens plus Presidents that ruled like a boss,

Never forget their triumphs and challenges that the purpose that caused.

As usual we must continue talk about the roots of Slavery, and the use of Civil Rights,

If we gonna be real about it, never ever give up those fights!

We can do, preview, summarize and examine our proud black history, with the honorable things up the latter,

For you non-black folks hating, and those side-eyeing, Our Black Lives INDEED Matter!

Continue to march on folks of color, we are done yet!

Sometimes we have to make that gamble to make the bet!

For the regular, irregular, educated, partially learned, the Conscious, the Semi-Conscious, the Brave, the REAL Activism, the REAL Evangelists, the Introverted, Extroverted, Ambiverted, the Bold, the Beautiful, the rebel, the Handsome, the Rugged, the Strong, the Mindful, the Doers, the Energetic, the middleman, the middlewomen, the anchors, the straight, the techie, the religious, the freethinker, the gay, the tranny, the BiSexual, the mixed, the supporters, the secretive, The Singles, The Married, The Widowed, The Life Partners, the honorable, the distinguished, the grounded, the down to earth, the political, The American, The Canadian, The British, The French, The Australian Black, The Afro-Latino, The Italian, The Haitian, The Jamaican, the Jazz, the Gospel, the Hip-Hop, the Rap, The R&B, The Folk, The Rock, The Metal, The New Age, The Dance, The Vocal, The Opera, The Classical, The Old School, The New School, The Sporty, The Medical, The Dental, and many many others with the Black Fist in sight,

Strap on your seat belts no matter what you think, we taking this everyday flight.

For our Black men, women and children of our black community that has gone home to glory,

Us here on the planet, we will and must TELL your story.

So no need to ask permission, or asking for to be valid,

We should be out doing us anyway, from the time we come, and to be candid.

So as we close out the 90th Edition of Black History Month of 2016 and make way for beyond and 2017,

Never forget the lessons that were and were not peachy keen.

From the lessons, causes, joys, concerns, and missing pieces that us Black folks we need to flex,

As we continue to know about us, I ask this: there have been many many firsts, who got next?

#BLACKHISTORYMONTH4LIFE

For quite sometime, I had to sit and reflect on certain things about those who attend church and those who don’t. Especially those who grew up in church and now have a conscious decision to condemn it to be a freethinker. Yes I’m talking about them as much as those in church who might not do the Christian thing of giving and feeding. That being said, I’m going to bust out a exclusive of my own experience that if you are a church attendee in all that acts a fool at times, and a non/former church attendee that talks smack of deliverance. Guess what? It’s time that I put the gauntlet on the line where it lies: in the darn middle!

And to add: I’m going hard on this.

Now you may have seen various comments and things on Facebook or Instagram, the memes, or any other blog, or radio broadcast about those who think that the church is full of the hypocrites that go in all of the Sermon, and then afterwards they go to the Red Lobster for their sunday grub and go home. Then they don’t do the things they say they going to discuss about during the week. Does that sound familiar? Does it? Oh, and they pour in the money so the pastor can have that big mansion like house in the hills with the Jaguar in the front! Hmmmmmm……..Reallly? Yes I know i’m not the only one that had to comment this. But however, not all pastors don’t have big mansion like houses or Jags that the members pour in for Apportionments! And where is this coming from? Ask those who formerly went to church and really have that conscious Free-Thinking mindset. Or ask those who are not a member of a church who happens to go online to social media and literally BLAST the churches or the mindset of a church because it’s on the northside, or whatever. And that can come from a “Activist” that goes from protest to another!

Are they speaking the truth on this? Partially, they are half-right. Not totally right.

Now let me asking these questions.

 • Are these folks who condemn the churches straight to hell on Social Media think they have all the answers?
 • Do they have the answers to believe that being a free thinker is all what it matters?
 • Do they honestly beehove all the actions that they went though thinking that it wouldn’t be a future threat?
 • Do they TOTALLY HONESTLY AGREE that all churches should be on the duty in and outside the table in the community?
 • Do they honestly believe that they are hurting those who are giving their DEAD LEVEL BEST everytime they go into the church for service? And then later on to do more to volunteer and give back?
 • Do they STRONGLY FEEL that those go to church are coming out with a hypocritical agenda against those who don’t? Educated, Financially Stable, Attendance, Time and Talents, or any other option or goal that the goers strive EVERY TIME they learn from?
 • Do they actually care?
 • Why do they care?
 • And the personal favorite, in regarding the love of God, where is the fear? That’s right I said it!

I want the non-church goers and former church goers to answer these questions themselves. Go ahead share it. Don’t answer them to me! Don’t comment to me! And frankly those who do go, just sit back and be silent for a bit.

Now for you Church Attendees. Regardless if you are Christian, Jew, Lutheran, Muslim, Catholic, or any other religious connection. Let me ask these questions:

 • Are we really doing the things that we set out to do?
 • Are we Ashamed of the summaries of Christ? Or Allah?
 • Do we really go out to eat AFTER we hear the Sermon?
 • Do we do the work that our denomination or non denominations set out for us to do?
 • Do we actually set out and tell the good news?
 • Do we summarize our lessons learned throughout the week?
 • Have we really watched our attitudes and avoid being “hypocrites” with our actions and what we say?
 • Before the service starts, do we greet and or smile?
 • When the Pastor says “go out into the world and spread the good news”, do we?
 • When we have our days of giving food or clothing, are we following OUR rules? Making sure WE don’t get in trouble?
 • Is it well in our souls in trying to serve? (A nod to the United Methodist Faithful)
 • In discussions of being Godly, are we conscious at the same time? (I.E. Black Conscious, Socially Conscious)

This is why I’m busting this out. For all those who know it all either in or out of church, I got news for you: There is always something else! It does not matter what church or denomination you belong too. And this goes for those who went let’s say:went catholic or COGIC for about 5 years and assumed that they know everything and leave the church because of the worst things like: “Oh the bible is full of BS!” Have you ACTUALLY read the bible? Have you have ACTUALLY READ the scriptures in your parents house or library or your grandparents house? Have you actually had your grandmother or grandfather, whether they living or deceased asked YOU (I’m talking to the know it alls per say) what did it meant? See, we don’t know SQUAT! Man……some of us are just like immature kids. We don’t know squat, period! It’s all about tip toeing around the pond and not actually going into the pond! And having conspiracy theories that many don’t understand. And on a side note, I will say that affects Church goers also.

My late Grandfather. One of my late Grandfather asked one of my family members about the bible when he was living, and he responded, “what do you know about it?” This is coming from him who was an Eremitus of his Church Sunday School for many years. That’s right, look up the word Eremitus to see what it is and you’ll know why it’s missing.

I have indicated before that I’m a 4th Generation United Methodist Church member. I was confirmed in the church in 1990 at the age of 13. That’s 25 years for so many of you keeping count. And yes, like a few others, I had and have ministers in my family that expand 2 or 3 generations. From my Great-Grandmother’s generation to Generation X. And yes, I had and experienced the good in folks, bad in folks and those who was just there for a short stint and moved on to greener pastures. And there are those who’ve been in the game through generations are sticking around want to make something happen. I’m sure many of you reading this who do dedicate services to your churches of any kind, that when you hear about all the negativity, you keep going with your craft to discipleship. No matter what anyone tells you. Even if they are church goers or not! Also be careful of the work that it arises.

And for those who are the former church goers and non-church goers who keeps talking about the hypocrites, what the pastor, bishops and apostles are doing in the sanctuaries along with the members: CUT SOME OF THE MEMBERS YOU KNOW SOME SLACK!!!!!! There are members in churches that are trying their dead level best to rise up and do something for their organizations. All of you really need to get your heads examined. Stop being so judgemental. And don’t generalize THE WHOLE DANG CHURCH! That is one of the main concerns of this whole conversation. Folks seem to generalize the whole group all the time. Just like when a black dude or a black woman per say sees their son or daughter making crimes and it blows up on TV or Facebook, guess what is going to happen:

Other communities will be like, “Oh, the Black Community this. Oh, the Black Community that……….” And don’t even scream out #BlackLivesMatter!

The Black Community knows very well about being generalized as a whole, when it involves just a few knuckleheads. Where as when you have some church members or some church community members applying for a jet, or a new car: the whole village or city will be on their throats. Tell me I’m not lying.

There was a song that came out way before Generation X blew up, but our Baby Boomer counterparts know it: “Everybody Plays A Fool.” It’s not just church folks. It’s not just non-church folks. It’s EVERYBODY! Whether you attend church or not, we need to watch it. We need to be accountable of what we do, say, think, or have opinionated viewpoints. Yes, that includes me.

Just recently, I was listening to one of my Black Milwaukee Radio Stations. Actually, it’s WNOV. It’s the only black radio station in Milwaukee. And a interesting question came up about Christians after church. The caller, assumed is Christian and a Female, that phoned in during the mid morning hours asked about why Christians don’t always spread the good news. The caller emphasised about going to the church, hearing the Pastor’s Sermons and after all of that is said and done, they go out to dinner and go home for the week. So after hearing that, (which is not new) my question is why was the caller asking the host about the church going procedures? And second, what is SHE DOING? Not judging, but asking. What is she doing to help to spread the good news? What is she doing with examples of her plight of her craft to ensure that good news? Not to comment further but the questions she asked the host, she should be asking herself those questions. No offense to her, her church, her ministry in all. But I would ask myself those questions instead going on the radio publically. Why you ask? It’s been asked over and over again. So why is this new? And plus not everyone is the same as the female caller! Everyone’s God Given Gifts are different. That I’ll agree with.

 • Do I do the christian thing by helping out others or supporting others to the best of my ability? Yes.
 • Do I act as a hypocrite or charlatan for others? No. I was raised way better than that!
 • Do I give and receive as any other Christian? Yes.
 • Do I love God’s Grace and well as fearing God’s outcome? Yes.
 • Am I perfect as a Christian? NO!
 • Do I strive to be the best I can in and out of church everyday? Yes.
 • Do I force my Christian hand down the throat of those who moan and groan? As in those who don’t want to hear about the God Stuff? No.
 • Do I find ways to improve my church home as well as the community alike? YES I DO!
 • Have I been in a situation in church where I was a victim of someone’s hypocritical mindset? Yes I have.
 • Have I been criticized by those who are haters in and out of the church? Yes.
 • Do I honor the work of the church with my gifts and talents and share that with those on the regular level? Yes.
 • Do I run around the sanctuary being filled with the Holy Ghost like those MegaChurches or any other church that does this? NO!!!!!
 • Do I tithe or have I tithed or attempted to tithe? Yes. And I know where the money goes.
 • Have I ever heard the words Hell and Eternal Damnation and ran out of the Sanctuary? No. And by the way, if those say “D*mn” in a church sermon, should realize that it came from the bible. It’s not all cursing related!
 • Have I dressed up in Jeans as well as a Suit and Tie? Of course. There is a rule that come as you are.

All of those questions and answers, I have experienced thus far. But like many others there is so much work to be done. AND YET I STILL GO! Plus the things I described here, even though that my church experience have been shaky, mean, and also normal, I still go.

Do we say these things where our troops go to battle, or our officers on patrol, or any other high ranking official go and perform their duties? Even though we talk smack about them but still give them high praise? We need to work on that.

I said before that there are hypocrites everywhere. Don’t fool yourselves! It’s not just church! Right now at work, you might have a hypocritical boss or an employee that constantly berates you like hell and you want to strike him or her. But you still might continue to work or quit the job to go to another. Or start your own business.

You might had run ins with a Police Officer, a Deputy Sheriff, or maybe a well known official that seems nice, but is a hypocrite.

You might have hypocritical Football Fans in bars and at your house. And you root for the same team!

What about the activists or those whom are so conscious (UH-OH) who march around like kings and folks eat it up like clockwork? BUT…….might have hypocritical mindsets?

You even might have family members or group members, or Fraternity/Sorority Members that are like this. And wonder why you stopped talking or chatting or texting. Then they show up at a funeral having this solace to cover up the hypocrite behavior. HELLO!

I had ran into job related folks in Milwaukee whom were hypocrites because of my education I got from UW-Stout by not going on campus. I know the organizations and names very well. As well as those other companies that refused to hire black folks in the Greater Milwaukee Area based on income, experience, training, education and zipcodes. Tell me I’m lying Milwaukee! And I have never forgotten that. Even when I got my degree nearly 10 year ago on Stout’s campus through the commencement.

So I say this: we all need to look in the d*mn mirror. And really go out with a purpose and objective! The “Come to Jesus Meeting” is up and the seats need to be filled.

To the residents of Charleston, South Carolina and to the members of Emanuel AME Church, sympathies and prayers are being sent! This incident has not only shocked your community, but also, any community in America that identifies with the incident shares your pain, your concern, your deaths and also your deep understanding of the struggle of African-Americans seeking refuge without the use of violence in this country!

In 1963, four little girls in Alabama were killed under racial implications of being black. Just yesterday, and in 2015, 8 members of the Emmanuel AME Church and it’s Pastor, Clementa Pinckney, a long time State Senator Democrat of South Carolina, and Pastor of the AME Church, were killed during a prayer meeting at the historic black church. The pastor also pushed for an idea to put body cameras on police officers in his native state. And mostly to them, the pastor wasn’t just this pastor of a church, he was a figure that many looked to, influence, recognized, and also related to the issues that many know all too well.

Now there are those who are cynical, those who have those historic hatred about churches, about the money, about Sister So and So with the “Fashion Show” dress on, or Brother Usher always messing with the members in the back for more money in the collection plate, or there are those who feel about Jesus (whom was black) or the ongoing hypocritical minded of them seeing this attitude, and having the youth not participate in certain activities that the older church members seemed disliked, put that away for a minute. Tone it down! Or this case put it on pause. Those things that I just described, can also happen in your workplaces, malls, your favorite club to get your dance on, a Juneteenth Day festival, a family reunion, a class reunion, or any other place or activity that can have folks being all so drone minded of being one-sided about one thing that many don’t really know, or not enough knowledge. Even if it’s your neighborhood, or on that thing called Facebook! So it’s just not just the church only! I think we need to check ourselves that anything or anywhere, there might be and are hypocritical minded folks who are just being hypocritical about anything that does not pertain to them! Let’s be clear and be honest: there are hypocritical folks everywhere and just don’t assume it’s always the church! I don’t care how conscious us citizens can be. Or even how smart we are. But when an unexpected hate crime onslaught on nine innocent folks who were just praying during a bible study, or for whatever they were praying for, what does that mean? And also that talk about Gun Control will likely continue!

And I’m speaking as a METHODIST MEMBER. Even though I’m United Methodist, but the Methodism connections of AME, CME and Free Methodist, needs to be on one accord of who we are and what we should be about!

This is not the time who say or comment, “Oh those hypocrite christians got what they deserved to be killed!” We don’t know them! We don’t know what they did in the workplace, their old schools, their activities in the community, their upbringings, or whatever. We don’t know them! And we don’t know if they weren’t hypocritical. But we can understand the pain that they suffered under a bullet in that mass shooting. So the shooter Dylann Roof who should be in college getting a job, goes into the bible meeting, with guns loaded says that “you raped our women and taking over our country. You have to go.” Then the shooting started. My question is what was this mixed up minded 21 year old white dude thinking about? That he had to say that he had to do it. Do it for what? White Supremacy?!

By the way, if any Facebook user has this dude as a friend, its better to unfriend him now.

Note to the descendant traits of White Supremacy, even though you didn’t start the fire, you could have a way to use a way to put it out!

From my understanding about the Emanuel AME Church, it’s not just a church building. PAY ATTENTION!

 • This has historical meaning and connections in confronting the horrors of slavery and racism. It was burned down, and rebuilt after 1865. One of the founders, Denmark Vesey led a slavery revolt in 1822.
 • It is the third oldest AME church in the world.
 • It was significant with the Underground Railroad.
 • The congregation had underground services at the time between 1834 and 1865 during the time when black congregations were outlawed.
 • Famous black figures of Martin Luther King, Corretta Scott King, Roy Watkins, and Booker T. Washington have either preached, lead marches, or any other civil right activity in part of the life of the church. Even those who wanted to run for president, also stopped by the church.

Like any other black church in America, this also was under targets of violence that made the list. A list that many black churches does not want to be on. And it wasn’t just on black churches, it was an attack on the black community. And most recently, a Baptist Church in Memphis Tennessee, was interrupted by gunfire, during choir rehearsal. I tell you, it’s senseless and crazy at it seems!

Now I know many have seen the prayer circles that were shown on TV and the internet. I know many had to bust out the “What are they Praying for?” speeches. Don’t go in on that. This is not the time! Believe me, it’s not the time!

This weekend is Juneteenth Day, and as well as Father’s Day it’s going to be sad for the families. It’s going to be sad not to see Pastor Clementa Pinckney with his family, and not seeing his daughters coming to him to say “Happy Father’s Day, Daddy!”

At the end of the day, after all of this is over, like Milwaukee Assistant Pastor (and Milwaukee Marshall Alum) Dana World-Patterson said at my church’s Love Is event: “You see something, say something and do something!” Enough of the so-called no snitching rules. No matter what era it happens to be.

Send sympathy to the victims of these names as recorded by Yahoo:

• Cynthia Hurd, 54, a manager with the Charleston County Public Library system.
• Ethel Lance, 70,
a retiree who recently worked as a church janitor
• Rev. Clementa Pinckney, 41,
a South Carolina state senator and pastor at the church
• Susie Jackson, 87,
a longtime member of the church
• Depayne Middleton Doctor, 49,
former Charleston County community development director
• Sharonda Coleman-Singleton,
a church pastor, speech therapist and a high school girls’ track coach
• Myra Thompson, 59,
a pastor at the church
• Rev. Daniel Simmons, Sr., 74,
another pastor at the church
• Tywanza Sanders, 26,
a 2014 graduate of Allen University, where Pinckney was also an alum

And in addition: Emanuel AME Church has a Paypal Account in which you can donate. Yeah I know that those don’t like money with churches. But at a time like this, they could use something additional financial offering out of respect.

Oh, the irony in the Month of march. Thus far it’s about March Madness, St. Patrick’s Day, and yes spring is coming. However, in the same weekend of Friday the 13th, the punishment of the suspended SAE Fraternity Members continued as well a dumb fight in a Brooklyn McDonalds. Plus, why Pastor Creflo Dollar should NOT get a jet for the church as he thinks. Oh technically, the madness is here and it’s ironic.

First, as many know thus far, the SAE Fraternity Members of the Oklahoma Universtiy are officially gone. All because one of the members who was chanting the proverbial, “there will never be a n*gger in SAE” song. But there are those comment that the students shouldn’t be taken out of the school despite of the word being scripted over, and over again. What that means is, there are those who some what use the N-Word need to be punished alright. But in a sense of relation to blacks in all, and the brotherhood bond, why couldn’t some of the fraternities invest in the Black Community (mainly the white Frats) and actually donate their time and effort to work in the Black Community! Plus the idea of all of having them to take African-American History, and almost every single course of BLACK HISTORY as possible. Oh yeah, they need to! The firestorm of this banishment should serve notice that when you use words or things to degrade others being a put down, then maybe that portion needs to be clarified, talked about, and summarized as much as anything else. Now, when the song was sung, and the SAE fraternity members were just saying it like it was enjoyment, they probably don’t know who or what prompted them to sing that. They say they were drunk (OH REALLY?!!) We’re blaming alcohol on this? Stop the freaking pain! It doesn’t matter if they sung the song with Jim Beam or Grey Goose, they sung it! Period. And they are paying for it. Now word ialso that the Alumni of the SAE Fraternity have gone out to get the lawyer who was once hired by Timothy McVeigh after he blew up the Federal Building in 1995. Just a thought, the Oklahoma City Bombing’s 20th Anniversary is next month. Scary. What will the Fraternity accomplish in terms of one or a few knuckleheads chanting a song about lynching black folks and not inviting them in club to establish that “brotherhood” that they have been preaching about since 1856? And will this be the ultra matter of resolve? We’ll see. Just keep the finger on the pulse.

Second: Fighting in the BK.

I know when the letters of B & K come up, it’s Burger King. But not really, it’s really about Brooklyn and the 5 girls fighting against one at their local McDonalds. We’ve all seen it. 5 girls against one. What is this, a handicap match? Now everyone in the darn restaurant is looking at the fight and yes there well those who had to get it on the camera phones in all. But if that’s the case why didn’t no one, (AND I MEAN NO ONE) stepped up and actually broke up the fight? Are we that blood thirsty for real? I mean you got 5 girls here, beating up this one chick and had her head stomped! Really! MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL! NONE. Were there any responsible adults in McDonalds that stopped by and made sure that no one should have gotten hurt Now one the real, all five of them have been pressed charges and similar fashion, and one of them, Aniah Ferguson is a gang member. She stabbed her Brother, made threats to her grandmother, and have a list of crimes and again: only 16 years old!!!!!! WHY IS SHE STILL OUT AND GOING BACK IN AND GOING BACK OUT? Oh lord have mercy! These young ladies may not have much of a future all because of stomping and gang tackling this one teen in a McDonalds restaurant after school! And don’t say, or hashtag #BLACKLIVESMATTER on this because it don’t matter at this point! IT DOES NOT! Neither does the stupid “Stop Snitching” Rule. Throw it out the window. Aniah Ferguson better need to know and be saved by Jesus NOW before it’s too late! I hate to get churchy, but I’m sorry. This young lady (and I mean YOUNG LADY) needs to get help somehow, someway NOW!

Back in my day, it was one on one after some folks want to trigger thoughts in my head. We fought! But now, with this new mentality, everybody wants to jump in to get famous. To the parents of those girls who had to get their way, can you please call the boarding schools and get your daughters disciplined? I mean dang. Or, be like when you send your sons off to Boot Camp, the girls need to sent off to boot camp also! Yeah I said it. If you can send the boys off to boot camp after their run ins with the law, then that must happen for the girls too. I know it’s March and it’s Women’s History Month. But I’m sorry, that doesn’t matter at this point. What matters the most, is discipline! And unfortunately, tax payers like me and others in America will be fitting the bill for it!

And the third dance card: Jet planes and pastors.

I was going to say something on Facebook about Creflo Dollar, and this idea of his congregation forking over 60 Million Dollars. But no, I’ll do it here. Well, let me say this as a giving, volunteering, gift talented, 4th Generation, Black Man that is part of the United Methodist Church: NO!!!!! Absolutely NOT! Ok, a Jet. Really? If anyone in that church or MegaChurch deserves a Jet, it should be the members themselves period. Or on a similar fashion, here is a part where I play devil’s advocate. If Creflo Dollar the Pastor, wanted to raise 60 Million Dollars for his congregation to invest in something, it should be as follows. Oh, and non-church going folks, you’ll like this from a church going person:

1) Scholarships for the college bound students.

2) A new business to start up that is beneficial to the chruch community, or maybe NEW JOBS!!!!!

3) Homeless Shelters or Homeless Apartments.

4) Transportation purposes to get the church members to and from church in a faster fashion.

5) Assist a neighborhood project.

6) Investments in stock and bonds.

And….I can go further and further.

Since then, the Pastor had removed the website that promoted the Jet. And many like before, there were critics whom had to say that “this is why I don’t go to church and its all about the money”. WELL I hate to say that EVERY BUSINESS you see and work with, party with on Saturday late nights and donate to are about money too! Don’t front! Many of you probably spiked up the St. Patrick’s Day parties at the bars and clubs per say and the folks still reaking up the finances. Well, if it took a lot of interested folks on a day where St. Patrick allegedly banished reptiles from Ireland, with the bars packed with fans, green and beer, how many of you probably pack a church on Sunday Morning by just showing up?! Don’t worry I’ll wait!

Speaking of St. Patrick’s Day, look for that in my next “A Blog To” series. And guess what, it’s aimed at a group of folks that need to listen up: African-Americans. Or the African-Americans whom don’t acknowledge the tamarite of Black History Month, but rather go green on March 17. Oh yes, I WILL go in!
