Oh, hold up. Wait a minute: Is it Independence Day? The day of the 1776 that many were “partying?” Oh yes, it’s July 4th. The 243rd of the Independence. And yes like before, we can celebrate in all. Plus I said last year and I dare say it again to comment this: The Struggle Continues!

Wake up, Americans! It’s our birthday/anniversary or just call it our day off from work and school. And of course it’s our day to have our say as citizens for another 4th of July Birthday. Let me also say that if we partied or conversated last year with folks whom are not around this year then maybe that was the last conversation. And just to think that this 4th of July is the last 4th under the 2010’s decade. And it’s the first 4th of July that many have to recognize the 400th Anniversary of the last Trans Atlantic Slave Trade of the year 1619. For us Wisconsin folks: our Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes is celebrating his first 4th of July as the first African-American Lt. Governor of the Badger State. That’s indeed a FIRST! Similar to the pivotal aspect of Juneteenth Day of last month.

However like last year we still deal the same issues of black lives being targeted harshly. We still deal with the factors of our LGBTQIA brothers and sisters being judged harshly when it comes to the same sex practices and marriages in the United Methodist Church after the “decision” was made in St. Louis dealing with the General Conference. We also still deal with the twisted laws of misinformation, harassment, bullying after someone tries to give someone a drink, and many other factors America harbors. And yes black folks: many of us still fight among each other in determining our so-called blackness in a harsh manner to the likes of Sen. Kamala Harris.

Let’s be honest here, when “you know who” got elected of course many of us got real stupid. Admit it. As a matter of fact when I referenced the factors of us black folks fighting among each other we still are. We still have this inner hate that whenever we see one of us make it, in a sense of success we sometimes cringe and bear down with the hate of making sure that we tear down our folks in a hateful manner. And yet to quote our Muslim brothers like Malcolm X , this is a classic case of divide and conquer. Where have I heard those words before? Oh yeah, when the Ex-Governor Scott Walker utterly used them during his campaign. Admit the truth. Even though it happened in Wisconsin, but the message still was a look out in a sense of a warning shot.

Another shot of endearment, is with our LGBT Communities. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in a sense that it resonates the rights of the Gay/Lesbian folks. And even 50 years later in 2019 many of us Americans are still dealing with the issues, lifestyles, choices that many of them go through each time. Oh we see it everyday. And yet this does infact deal with the church! Mainly my denomination of the United Methodist Church. You all know the story with that decision by the General Church in which many of the worldly conservatives kept the part of the LGBT stuff held at bay! And it still being held at bay. However many have to look and also realize that the decision is NOT STOPPING THEM to serve in the church! Already, LGBT Bishops and Ministers are actually coming though and having the chance to minister in the practice that they really wanted to do. In a church in Missouri that gained headlines, there was a confirmation class ceremony to welcome new members. But the youth of that church made a stand that they were not ready to be members based on the issues of their LGBT friends that encountered. They decided to leave the offer on the table until a fair change is acceptable. Keep in mind that this church is United Methodist. And is geared toward the LGBTQIA audience.

For many of us, our laws and confidence had been lacking. In a recent poll conducted on CNN via their New Day Reality Check Segment regarding Patriotism:

Patriotism dipping down?

Is there a thing called let down? Or melt down? Ever since 45 got into the office (thanks to many who didn’t VOTE UP in 2016) it seems that our sense of Patriotism has been hijacked and overtaken by those who actually feel a sense of anger towards a previous administration. Of course I’m talking about Obama. But also issues of previous years faults and failures that the country had endured in the modern 20th Century towards the baby version of the 21st Century era. And yes, even the communities that has been long forgotten, overlooked and never had a chance to compete with the popular big cities and folks to recognize. Of course, many felt that way for years before 45 and Obama was into the president’s chair. When many make a reference to move out of Milwaukee or any other northern city to go to Atlanta or Texas for example, and stated the reasons why they moved because of the weather, or in this case: racism, crime, and many other factors that played. Now the southern states as much as the rest of country must realize that racism and problems similar are EVERYWHERE!

Most recently, there was this Nike Shoe that came out this week with the old Betsy Ross Flag on the back. We all seen it right?

Let me say this: who wanted to buy some $140.00 Nikes?! And yet when the shoes dropped, many felt that the flags on the back were from a time when slavery was rampant. And word what that Betsy Ross didn’t actually make the flag in the first place! One of Betsy Ross’ slaves according to the recent stories was the original creator of the flag that had the circle stars and 13 stripes. But I had to fact check about America’s Seamstress that did the first flag. According to the real inside intel, Elizabeth Griscolm Ross (her real name) was born in the mid 1700’s and yet did not owned any slaves under her name. Betsy was from a family of Quakers that was against slavery. Uh-oh! Who didn’t know this? Raise your hands right now! For all those that said that she did that, you must get your facts straight right now! See this is what happens when misinformation gets twisted and not knowing the actual proof of this.

CALLOUT: It’s time to get back to those U.S. History Books! And actually get to the point of who the folks were when the country got started. Even if they were Slave-traders/Owners that raped and pillage. Start it up all over again!

We need to continue to know so for that the next generation of Americans don’t get caught up in the Okie-Doke like many of us gone through. Sure many of us had the beginning stages of our countries history that “scratched the surface” however as time goes on and as we continue to progress more into our history, then of course we’ll ask those hard questions like, why didn’t they taught me this in school? Maybe the folks who set up the curriculum way back when didn’t go hard enough! And yes, when Nike yanked the Betsy Ross kicks many had to question exactly what Colin Kaepernick was thinking. I know! Colin never dissed the flag in all, but was addressing the Betsy Ross Flag was used around an ugly time when America had harvested vile white supremacy like a bad habit. That is the truth!

But on this 243rd edition of America’s birth, we need to go even HARDER THAN HELL to get our sense back. It’s going to take not just education, but even HARDER THAN HELL of more educational historical facts to actually get to the point of this holiday and beyond. I’ll bet many of you right now are probably thinking about Juneteenth Day. Remembering how it was supposed to get the info and the truth out. And the joy of getting it right. Even folks who celebrated Juneteenth in the past have gone crazy with problems! Not with standing the thought of it. But understanding the gist to get to the moral compass of our nation. Yes, in 2016 the votes swayed to 45 and many of us are feeling this lack of patriotism. And not voting AT ALL! When was the last time that America had an urge of patriotism that really mattered? Don’t just say 9/11! And when was the last time that Black folks in THIS COUNTRY felt like being normal citizens that fit in with the colonial cause for the better all day everyday? We already know the answer. And basically this has been the talk of the town over and over again ever since the country got started. And I’m also sure that many have been looking for those answers ever since. And still looking.

Well, as they say: The Struggle Continues!

And also to quote the late great Nipsey Hussle: The Marathon Continues.

As the day comes for the Dads, we know that many will celebrate the men that gives us love. We also realize that Father’s Day for the church side is going to be less than Mother’s Day in which we know already. Plus yes there will be women that will moan and complain about the father’s not being there for the kids, not doing nothing for the kids, community, etc. And yes, even the fathers whom are missed in death will be everyday reminded that their ongoing spirit still lingers on. And we have to face the wacky events. And I’m scratching my head again.

Ok, ladies. Let’s be real. Why will some of you will complain about the fathers of your kids this Father’s Day?

Will all the men wear some sort of blue like the baseball teams on Sunday? It’s to recognize prostate cancer awareness.

So after 60 years in the game, IHOP or the International House of Pancakes, will be now known as the International House of……..Burgers?!! Seriously?! Will Pancakes be still selling?

Black folks: June is Black Music Month as we know. Are we educating the masses who love our music in all?

So far the hype of the Milwaukee Streetcar is gaining steam. Plus you realize it’s only 5 months away until it fully debuts, right?

Right now on the election watch here in Wisconsin, August 14th will arrive before you know it. Still voting, right?

Milwaukee: Summerfest will be here. You ready? I got tips!

Why is 45 having issues with Canada? Particularly with the Prime Minister?!

The Brewers still own the NL Central so far. Is it real yet for the Craig’s Crushers?

They say that one of the introverts’ nightmares is job fairs. Career fairs, etc. Is the prophecy true? Do we Introverts need our OWN job fairs?

For the All Black American Legion Posts in Milwaukee/Wisconsin: why do you NOT have any Sons, Auxiliary or Legion Riders Groups? I need answers!

It’s been 20 years since James Byrd, Jr was murdered. By racists in Texas dragging him to his death. Did we forget this, America?

The Milwaukee Bucks’ new home will be opening in a couple of months. Who took the tour so far?

Here in Milwaukee: the Milwaukee Police Department is rocked with pain of the death of Officer Charles Irvine, Jr. We all know what happened yet again and I know many of us are still mixed by the feelings overall by the Police: Racism, Brutality, etc. We all know. Even harassment. Even the unacceptable stuff of the moniker copied of “Blue Lives Matter.” We know it. After Officer Irvine is remembered at his funeral on June 16th, what will the attitudes of us and the Police change for the better?

Sidenote: Reference the Milwaukee Bucks Basketball Player Sterling Brown after he was tased 18 times by the MPD.
CALLOUT: For us in the United Methodist Church, specifically in the Black UMC’s and BMCR: Why are we being attacked? Seriously ask this question at the Annual Conferences! Let them know how you feel.

This needs to be asked: why there are not hordes of Harleys in Milwaukee that do parades for Juneteenth Day? Yeah, I’m asking this that needs real answers!

Anthony Bourdain passed on due to suicide. Why did he go that way?! Man! And also Kate Spade went the same.

Here in Milwaukee: what will it take for the MPS Alumni to continue the “machine of reaching out” to the former students? Besides social media? And what will it take for the Alumni of all High Schools to be FURTHER engaged?

Is there a real reason why many will celebrate Juneteenth Day and or the 4th of July in the Black Community more or less?

In two months: Harley-Davidson will be 115 years old. Black Community: WE NEED TO BE READY WITH THE IRON ELITE – BLACK BIKER JAMS! Can we do this? Last time, we were late, but on time! White folks, do not get upset about a black biker jam in Milwaukee. You know what you said 5 years ago on Facebook!

Milwaukee: who will be the best Sheriff for the County? Richard Schmidt or Earnell Lucas? Make your choice on August 14th.

Of all the field of Wisconsin Democrats for Governor: I think that Mahlon Mitchell is the underdog. Can this underdog be the man? And oh, Wisconsin never had a black governor in its 170 year history!

Why is Sheriff David Clarke still talking on Twitter? Oops, I’m sorry FORMER SHERIFF David Clarke!

Is the time for Scott Walker up? Is this is the end?

For the Fourth of July, should many design a shirt that has “The Struggle Continues” draped in Red, White and Blue? You designers need to be ready now.

So I’m reading about this extended warranty about CarShield. I like many others are tired to pay high costs in car repairs in all. Is this CarShield thing a real good deal to have? I need answers. Real answers!

For my Pride Readers: How is your Pride month doing? Now for those wondering, Stephen’s Spot on this WordPress does NOT discriminate against anyone based on race, creed, class, sexual orientations, etc.

Class of 2018, congrats. Now what? Expect a blog letter!

During the Pridefest weekend in Milwaukee, Harley-Davidson had the “Ride with Pride“. You know Harley attracts all kinds of folks, right? Even the LGBTQIA folks.

Should the Milwaukee Police Department go back and hand out Baseball Cards like they did back in the 80’s? Way before you Millennials and Gen Z folks.

Final overall question before I ask about the Dads: Has the Golden State Warriors whom just now won a back to back championship over the Cavs is considered a “Dynasty?” If you win more Championships in lets say 4 years in a row, then you can call yourself a Dynasty. Not yet, Dub Nation! Even though you got stock of weapons. Just saying.

Now: this is for all the fathers. Ladies chill out. Don’t say a word!

How many Fathers didn’t have a father go to, became a father to go to?

What is the main reason why Father’s Day is so less than Mother’s Day when it comes to church?

My father mattered. Anyone else’s father mattered when they were living? How do we continue to legacy on the real tip without having the hassle of breaking traditions? And knowing each other besides going to Reunions and FUNERALS?! That seems to be the theme for generations. It’s time to break the cycle! Seriously.

For the first time fathers: how will you really support the toughest job of backing your son or daughter?

Since when Target had the “Baby Daddy” cards out? Did I miss it? Nah, Pass.

For the seasoned vets of fathers: you know the game. Is there a father to be that you are training right now to be a great dad?

For us who don’t have children and are men and not fathers: How can we support the kids in the community with the families that need the extra assistance? Always remember, it takes a village!

For us the families that never had an experience of growing up without a father, how have our Uncles, Grandfathers, Older Cousins whom are Dads, still play a role in getting that ultimate objective in life?

I dare to ask: why there are moms “now just blaring the thought” of seeing Father’s Day Cards for Mothers? Like in 2011 in Walgreens!

For the fathers whom are behind prison bars: I know that this is a hard question to ask, but do you really have the heart to see your kids?

For the fathers that have been missing for over 20 plus years from your kids, why did you leave them?!

For the fathers that have been reformed and out of jail, was the lessons learned for the better?

For the fathers that are legendary, are you inspiring the next era to step up?

For the fathers that are still in the fight and hard working, are you quitting or not? Do you still have the fortitude?

And for the families of fathers that keep it real: what is next?

On the real tip though, listen up:

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers!

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who read my blog.

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who are changing lives.

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who are staying in the fight!

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers whom are missed and remembered EVERYDAY!

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who are reclaiming their time. RECLAIM YOUR TIME DADS!

Happy Father’s Day to the fathers who aren’t always living foul!

To the non-Fathers that take care of folks on the fly, (like Godfathers) even though that this day is not really for you, but you act upon on being a father in general!

Lastly, even though it’s Father’s Day, don’t single out the Mothers that support. Please don’t. All Fathers Matter! And the Mothers (especially today’s MOTHERS) need to recognize it. Mothers you had your day last month. But today: Happy Father’s Day!

What a time to be alive during Black History Month 2018. But for this year, the year of the comics, or should I say, Black Comics are having their say.

The hype of Black Panther goes all the way back to last year around this time as an early interest. And here we are a year later, the hype of the movie is coming true. Black Panther is legit. Period. And for my non black readers and non blacks in general, don’t come at me for the “it’s racist” crap. You will get called out!

But before that, I have three words to share:

“Welcome to Freeland!”

Let’s explore first of Black Lightning. Right now, the show on the CW is blowing up! It is the legit show that I think the CW needed and it’s here. What’s that slogan, “Dare to Defy?” Well it’s defying the thought of bringing in the New flavor. Previously, it was supposed to go to the Fox Network. But it was later switched to the CW and have a 13 show for the season.

When was Black Lightning created? It goes back to April of 1977 about 11 years after the debut of Black Panther, which debuted in the Marvel Comics in July of 1966. Four months earlier before the Original Black Panther Party was founded in October of the same year in the Fantastic Four #52 Comics. In the legend, Jefferson Pierce by day is a principal of a private school. The city of Freeland is facing corruption of crime, drugs, violence and etc. One of the main bosses, Tobias Whale is up for power and defiance along with the female bad girl named Lady Eve – which on the TV Show is played by Jill Scott.

We know that. That’s part of the story.

More of the story goes back when Black Lightning hung up his suit for good. But when the daughters were captured, that forced Jefferson to get his suit ready once again and go after the bad guys to get the city cleaned up once again. If you paid attention to the story (via the TV show) that is what part of the origin started. And week by week the storyline build on one after the other.

Another thought to realize that Black Lightning is the first African-American DC Comics Superhero to be featured. And it has some several appearances in The Outsiders Comics, and other guest features.

So far, Black Lightning is doing well. It’s a keeper. Knowingly its a factor that is in the hunt of being one of the best shows on TV. Should Black Lightning be in the Movies like Black Panther? That’s possibly. I expect the show Black Lightning to be up the top rank of shows on the network that defines it purpose. Now I know many probably looked at the first show and that’s it. NO! you have to look at all the shows and then make your decision on how it follows up. One show does not follow the whole season. Say it again over and over. The shows on the season does that. Plus the viewership and interests follows that. In the first show: Guests stars of former NewsOne Now Host, Roland Martin and Sen. Nina Turner of Ohio both appeared. Then in later shows besides Jill Scott, even T.C. Carson, (aka Kyle Barker From Living Single) also appeared as well. Yes there was a mini Living Single Reunion on Black Lightning. Just a side note, Cress Williams before Black Lightning played in other shows like Living Single and Nash Bridges. So Cress has a history of TV appearances, which is no exception.

For an extra thought, read about the creator of Black Lightning and read about why his idea of the creation of Black Lightning actually matters. Even at a time when the Black Panther Movie and the representation of it matters also. And you can still watch the first five shows online on the CW Website or App.

Speaking of that: “Wakunda Ready”!

If you have seen Black Panther already, you should be pleased. Proud and Stoked. Admit it, we are still in awe about Black Panther. And many of us had or will take the #BlackPantherChallenge in which groups of young people were given a chance to see the block buster movie. As of today, it reached over 200 million dollars over the Presidents Day Weekend. However, if you have not seen it, and still reading what your friends and family posted, you better get a move on and see it for yourself.

Black Panther came out as we pointed out, in July 1966 under the Marvel Brand. In the same era of the Civil Rights Movement and four months earlier of the debut of the Original Black Panther Party. Now everyone knows the origins of T’Challa becoming King way after his father was perished. The challenges. The fear factor. And also a twist of betrayal, battles of supremacy with Killmonger. Here is an extra, in the movie, there were scenes of STEM! Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Look at the character Shuri. I’ll bet many who saw the flick particularly young black girls are probably getting ideas to see what they could do in the future. Study up, young black queens and definitely young black kings!

Now I want to shift to something else about the movie. Particularly those of us black folks wearing the African Attire like Dashikis, Kente Materials and others. And many folks having this hate about it.
CALLOUT: For those whom have a problem with it, SIT DOWN and SHUT UP! Why is this a problem?

Matter of fact, why is still a problem wearing African Garb in general? You go to Star Wars Movies and folks wearing Luke Skywalker gear or Storm Trooper gear related to a movie and no one gets mad. Why this for African Gear to Black Panther? Makes no sense AT ALL! I wore my Kente Cloth that my mother gave me years ago, along with my African Medallion that I had back in the 1990’s when the millennials were just born. Wanted to represent! You know when a movie likes this gets viral, of course it’s expected to be great. And yes it will bring out folks talking about “Black Panther didn’t have any Gay Reps!” For my LGBT folks, look we like you. We do. Many of us don’t discriminate. But respectfully, it’s not all about you! If you wanted a Gay Rep for your movement for the movie, then you should have been on board with the selection of characters for the movie! We’re you? Say it loud. Just saying. Plus I know some black folks had negative things to comment about the movie. Like one Black Republican thought it was all about the Democrats. Really?! Stop. This has nothing to do with politics. NONE AT ALL! Why are we tripping?! Like for real black folks! This also is like, when something like this comes along some of us will get not satisfied. Not many of us were not on the studios and having our say working behind the scenes. STOP IT! If many of us were to get those jobs instead of being all high and conscious maybe we should be on the front-lines instead of the hate against of this flick! And you wonder why we don’t get along. Yo: this is a movie!

Oh yes, I did like the thought about #WakundaVoting or #BlackPantherVoting to get the voting drives in gear. BUT: if we turned out in droves for Black Panther, what happened in the 2016 Election? If we used that same mentality for a MOVIE, then that mentality should be for our times when we vote up!

CALLOUT: 2018 is a Midterm voting year. Um….Hello!

“ARE WE NOT ENTERTAINED?!” – Gladiator, 2000

Now when I was growing up the Mil, yes I heard that movies, or certain movies inspire you. Or move you. Make you want to go out and do right. Make you want to do get things done, represent you, your brand, your movement, and your ideas and your lessons. We know this. But for this movie, Black Panther many are calling it a “Movement.” Even in the times that black folks are this enemy and can’t shoot straight. Even when we were given the word “No you still can’t do this or that due to your Blackness.” Oh, to the white audience, this movie isn’t all racist. Stop it with the nationalism stuff. It’s just a movie, right?

I’m glad that the Marvel Brand and the DC Brand of both comic groups and other groups have Black Superheroes and Black Super heroines for the black folks to look at. Look, we still like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Professor X, Wolverine, Jean Grey, Cyclops, The Beast, and others. Even Spawn and The Incredible Hulk.

But the black comic book hero characters like Blade, Storm, Kid Flash, Vixen, Luke Cage, Nick Fury, War Machine, Isiah Bradley, Patriot, Misty Knight, Doctor Voodoo, Miles Morales, Cyborg, Steel, Static, Icon, Rocket, and yes even Black Panther and Black Lightning, they all should be not overlooked, and should matter of one reason: Representation!

And no: Meteor Man and Blankman DO NOT COUNT! Sorry folks.

So while the movie is rolling like crazy and smashing box office records, here’s something you need to know: an old school adage of player hating. Even ex Wrestler Booker T said the same thing – Don’t hate the player, hate the game!

With the weekend up for the Father’s, I want to personally say Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s who will be recognized. Even the Grandfathers, Uncles, Cousins, and those whom are like fathers in the world. Even Godfathers.
This Father’s Day, will be a tough one for me, because my father passed on February 24th of this year, as you all know. It will be a weird one for me that he’s not here physically to celebrate another Father’s Day. This would have been for me a “40th Father’s Day” with him and a “47th” for my sister. Yes we miss him!  EVERYDAY since that day, it hasn’t been easy. Going to the entertainment area in his house where he died hasn’t been easy. And most recently, we in the family had to give up or surrender his 2007 Cadillac Escalade and that for me was real downer! Kind of sad. But that was not even sadder of losing him in February.  If you had read my “Losing Dad” blog stories, this was just opening up the book. Of course there will be more of my father’s lessons that will guide this blog as well as everyday values. If you have been riding with me through this storm and also can relate with similarity, I thank you. However, if your father is still living, and has this understanding, I must say that even though the sympathy has been plentiful, but you really haven’t experienced losing a parent. Until that moment happens to you, then maybe you can express that. Not to disrespect or front, but that is how I feel. It’s like boots. If you can’t really walk the boots that my father wore, you haven’t been there. You don’t know squat.

So with that being said, I’m dedicating this blog to the memory of my Dad. And also to the Dads whom are in heaven no longer with us. If you feel my pain, you ride with me. If you’re just wondering what it is, maybe this is not the story for you.

Time to roll.

For those hating on Father’s Day, you realize they need love, right?

I see #45 already charged on being on some stupid mess. Is this the breaking point?

That shooting though in VA. Why not the coverage of the shooting more in San Francisco at all of the places: UPS?

Rep. Steve King needs to chill out and shut up. Why is he pulling the Obama card to blame?

Wonder Woman is a hit! But why all the hate of her costume not being “American enough” by Fox News?

Also: I don’t care if any of the theaters have a Women’s Only Day for Wonder Woman. So what. Let them have it. But what happens when Transformers: The Last Knight has a MEN ONLY NIGHT? Women don’t start Illing.

Is AT&T Locker really fading out so quickly?

Juneteenth is the day after Father’s Day, who is taking a day off?

Milwaukee Alderman Tim Zielenski thinks that cutting the Streetcar funding will help the salary of Milwaukee Cops and Firefighters.  Question: Does he know that THE FUNDING FOR STREETCAR IS ONLY FOR THE STREETCAR? How dumb.

I know many probably had this asking from Bill Maher’s show when Ice Cube schooled him on the N-Word. When Ice Cube said that if another race uses the word that “stabs black people in the back”, in is words per se, does that equate the pain of black folks who use the N-word to another black person whom don’t like it, feel that pain as well? (ASKING FOR A FRIEND)

I can hear this now: THERE IS NOTHING TO DO FOR THE KIDS. Well, adults what are we doing standing around and pondering? Make something!

Black people, we know that June is Black Music Month, are any of us recognizing this like Black History Month?

For the LGBT crew, you like this flag? *Source: Philly.com

Why is that when Father’s Day comes, and you’re in Church, why is the congregation is less packed than Mother’s Day?

June 10th just passed: You realized that there was a Children’s Day right?

MPS: you realize that you will have a short summer vacay right?

Milwaukee, you know that Summerfest is coming up with that 50 year lineup?

With all the news of Russia floating, did they or not tapped into our Election stuff?

Will the Milwaukee Public Schools alumni have a another Alumni Summit?

For those that hate the females on the hill, do you hear what Sen. Kamala Harris is saying? Don’t get interrupted, Kamala!

Is Steve Harvey really getting low in his comments of brown water?

When the Summer comes…..oh what’s up with June 21st?

So far, Wisco has 2 candidates to possibly run for Governor. Can any of them be strong that can take down Scott Walker?

The recent shooting at Milwaukee’s Lakefront is not surprising. But why did the 19 year driver now dead DID NOT stop previously?  I’ll talk about this later.

Class of 2017! Congrats. Now what’s next?

Speaking of the shootings: we already had June 2nd of the National Gun Violence Awareness Day to recognize the concerns of Gun Violence. Why haven’t many didn’t listen to the consciousness of this matter? Ask those whom lost family members or friends to guns. It’s really the accountability.

Ok, so body shaming is a thing. Actually it’s been a thing. Remember when back in school when folks ribbed on someone who had a big butt, braces, big nose or any other body parts? We’ve been body shaming since forever. Y’all can stop now.

Will Sheriff David Clarke EVER take his resignation as Sheriff now?

Of all people: Senator John McCain, says that America had better leadership under Obama. WOW! Why didn’t he say this when Obama was in office?

And now, I have to switch the gears for the Father’s here:

Attention Single Mother Ladies, when your man is like a father to your kids, yes he’s not your baby daddy. But do you think that the way he’s treating your kids with respect, is kind of like well, like a father?

Ladies DO NOT GET AN ATTITUDE ON FATHER’S DAY! DON’T YOU DARE DO IT! It’s not your day. You can support it, do you agree?

Again, when Father’s Day comes up in church, why is the congregation is less packed than Mother’s Day?

Look, when I’m in the stores, why that other folks assume that I’m a father? NO I AM NOT!

How many Churches will have Men’s Day on Father’s Day?

For those of us Single men whom are NOT fathers, and don’t have no kids and not being pressured being fathers, what is the haps from the women who don’t seem to understand that? And that goes for Men with kids and married.

Does being a Godfather count as well being a Father?

Does being a Community Father or Male Guardian count being a Father?

Does adopting kids count being a Father?

Chris Rock once said that “your uncles prepare you for life”. Agree?

For those whom never had a chance to celebrate a Father’s Day with your Father, do you go to your uncles or male cousins for advice, as in Male-Side Advice?

Why do those who have Fathers alive telling those that lost fathers recently or long ago that ” My father is living and I understand what you’re going through.” Um….no you don’t. When will those stop saying that? We get the sympathy, but you don’t understand the pain.

Why do those who are your relatives have to say I’m sorry about your dad? My dad was a relative! WAKE UP!

And the last question: Well, I’m not to mention that. Simply I’m just going to leave like this. Those of us whom have lost our Dads. Even years ago, or just recently are still feeling the sting of losing the men we call Daddy, Dad, Pops, The Old Man, etc. It hurts. It’s weird and surreal and also crazy that they are not here! It’s not a reality show that it will come on and it’s all an act. Our fathers whom we lost are not coming back. What remains of them: is the lessons that they left behind. No matter how big, small, large, tiny, easy, or hard. They left marks, summaries, teachings, unfinished business, and many other aspects that we continue to learn from and pass along to the next generation. If we whom had fathers and I think it’s emotional for us, I have several questions to ask:

Did we learned something when Dad was here?

What did we learn?

How will we apply it to our daily lives?

And what will we leave behind with those lessons?

What happens afterwards, do we continue with the missions or restart our own stuff?

DO WE EVEN CARE?!!!!

So yes, to the fallen fathers, and even to my own Father that I’m named after: We wish them our love, our hearts, and our sincere, SINCERE gratitude for the lessons that gave us believe in us, empower us and continue the goals always. We say to the heavens to them: HAPPY FATHER’S DAY. We the survivors of the fallen fathers whom are not here resting in the graves, crypts, and Urns will NEVER EVER FORGET! Their spirits will inspire and soar always in us to be more empowered than ever before.

Oh did you see the TV?

The 58th Inauguration of the new Administration has passed to you know who, which looked like a ghost town in Washington. But yesterday after looking at the remains, the Women’s March was like a new Tornado that swept in the bare spots that were heavily empty. I mean it was a jam packed wall to wall March and protest. In Washington, it was close to over 500,000 plus that shut the city down! Washington wasn’t the only city: New York City, LA, Seattle, Indianapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Boise, and Madison all had these demonstrations. Even London, Sydney, and not really thought about: Antarctica! Yes even Antarctica was in this demonstration as well.

Yeah, the March was cool. All the females from Gloria Steinem, to Janelle Monae, the Mothers of the Movement, Alicia Keys, which featured Maria Hamilton, mother of Dontre Hamilton was killed at Red Arrow Park in Milwaukee in 2014. Even men like Michael Moore, Jidenna, and Maxwell all appeared.

Like I said: that was a jammed packed event not only for empowerment, but also directed at one man: Donald Trump. The same Donald Trump whom back in 2005 had the quote “grabbing them by the p*ssy” on a well known daily entertainment TALK SHOW of Access Hollywood! And many of the females at the time had on the same shirts or jeans with messages about “Donald can grab my ****** anytime.” REALLY!  Talk about Locker Room conversations. But many might know that it wasn’t all those who said it.

The turn up for the march of course went high of course. But online, the turn down of the march: MEN. As I was viewing the live feeds of the march on Facebook Live, there were men of course that were talking smack if you will about the march, there’s going to be a whole lot of sandwiches missing, back in the kitchen talk, or um some black dude on a black TV host Facebook page saying it should be stopped, and bringing up about America’s problems of overseas. WHAT!!!!

OK MEN: Settle down. It wasn’t our march. It didn’t address our concerns. And if I wanted a freaking sandwich, I’ll get it myself. Men: I’m sure we had our hatefest about this march of women hearing them roar.

But my question is: when are WE AS MEN are going to have our own march? Like for real.

When are we going to march about our concerns of immigration?

When are we going to march about our concerns of jobs and careers?

When are we going to march about our concerns of finance?

When are we going to march about our concerns of health – OOPS!  Many of us are scared about going to the freaking doctor to get checked, and having the females to take over. Really? We got reproductive things too!

When are we going to march about our concerns about VOTING RIGHTS and CIVIL RIGHTS?

When are we going to march about our concerns about our Fathers, Sons, Uncles, Nephews, Grandfathers, Male Mentors that need those connections to bond? SPECIFICALLY, BLACK MEN!

CALLOUT: Hey Fraternities: All of you. BGLO (Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Phi Beta Sigma, Omega Psi Phi, and Iota Phi Theta), Service, and many others. What are you doing to reach out to Men, especially young males in your communities? What are you doing also to reach out to men that want to join your frats for life that want to help your cause? Not just the young crowds, but also the SEASONED VETS?

When are we going to march about our concerns about housing?

What about the MALE concerns of education? Besides that High School Diploma, job and not actually going further. Specifically with our sons, and other male relatives? Is college on the mind also?

When are we going to march about our concerns about: racism, sexism, body shaming (heck we body shame like crazy everyday), gun violence, the phobias of transgender, homosexuality, bullying in all angles, etc. Being single. Even Introverts, Ambiverts, Extroverts? Oh I know what it is: “We men don’t get all sensitive. Don’t bring that up to make us look weak.” Hate to say it, but it’s all ready out there. Females, stop laughing.  And don’t go all MLK and the dream with that one line!

When are we going to march for our OWN male needs? No disrespect to the women whom feel that the equal thing should be on the table, but the fact of the matter is, when I see all these women’s meetings and seminars, or events, where are the Men’s meetings? For example: in the church there are more reps for females than males. There are female meetings but not male meetings. There are females in the church per se whom support the church in sense of programs and events, but the men don’t. Except when the men might have a their own fundraiser and a day on Father’s Day to set aside to support.

I ASK AGAIN: WHEN ARE WE: THE MEN ARE GOING TO MARCH FOR OUR CONCERNS?

If many of the Men, whom were watching the Women’s March in DC or in their Cities, did anyone of male folk actually steal some ideas?

Men, we need to get to work. Straight up. Enough about us on the things that we can’t touch, but what about the things that the women can’t touch, but we can to propel our concerns? Hmmm………..think about it.

And also: Educated!

I know what I’m about to say. And I’m going to say it.

Not on Facebook.

Not on Twitter.

Not on Instagram.

But here as I always have a say.

And no I will not use the proverbial “Conspiracy Theories” of the so-called stuff being as they are.

We already know what is going on. Orlando Florida is hit with ingrown attitude of Terror. It took only one guy and taking out about 50 folks in a nightclub. A popular nightclub that is among the LGBT folks. And the thing is, this guy who used a AR-15 on the attendees, used it in anger all because he saw two men kissing or showing their affection in public. This is what it is! What is going on is another dude that was under the influence of ISIS. The gunman Omar Mateen PLEDGED Allegiance to ISIS! And in the words of my current church members that said it years ago: ISIS IS IN AMERICA. And this act of concern sparked one of the worst mass shootings in American History. And for the record, there have been other Massaacres have been worse. They effected the Native Americans and yes, African-Americans as well. And its long documented and hidden until now. We need to recognize that also.

And Omar kills himself. Cowards way out!

And his wife probably knew what was going on.

I’m kind of mystified about this act taking place after the death of Muhammad Ali. Not only that, we had a National Gunfire Awareness Day on June 2nd, where mostly everyone who was affected by gun violence was wearing Orange in solidarity or memory of those who were killed or shot by a gun. How did we get from that, to this?!

Somebody tell me something!

And, for all the “GUN FREAK POSERS” who pose with their guns on Social Media and acting a fool, do you condone this? You better. And you can forget all about the NRA thing of protecting the advancement. Simply because they won’t. They have openly admit that President Obama was not going for their guns!

I would like to know is, what was the real motive behind this?

Was it hate?

Was it all about the “do it for religion? ”

Was it all about hating the LGBT folks because of their lifestyle?

What was it that set this whole thing off and having Omar bringing in a AR-15 in a club that slaughtered at least 50 folks?

And this also: If he didn’t have an issue with black folks, why the Gay/Lesbian Folks?

And yes LGBTQIA folks, there were folks praying yesterday in the sanctuaries. Which is nothing wrong. There might been folks in church yesterday that thought about you and making sure that you are OK. When I say that, they might have friends who are in the Pride LGBTQIA Movement/Community.

I have some connections that I know that in the LGBTQIA Community as well. Some I knew since Community Connections and high school.

Every single of the Pride Festivals around America, were in prayer of those whom were killed. Even at Milwaukee’s PrideFest, which celebrated its 30th Anniversary had a moment to sympathize for those who were killed and wounded. Not only that, metal detectors were used for safety purposes. A first for Milwaukee PrideFest. Ever. Just like Summerfest, African World Festival, the Games at Miller Park or Lambeau Field, and many others.

There were monuments and buildings in the world that were lit up in the Rainbow Colors, and also had Rainbow Flags hung in memory of those died in the shooting.

Knowing yes. We know that President Obama might have another idea. Another idea that might spark a new idea to get these dangerous guns off the hands who might use them for future concerns of hate. Even probably doing extensive background checks of those whom have issue of mental health, or this mental sense of allegiance of joining up with the likes of ISIS.

And while on the subject, let’s not also trip about a “subject over a subject”. There are those who think that this tragedy is a “smokescreen” or a distraction to come to find out that this incident, is taking over the shootings in the black neighborhoods. Or getting to the real roots of why this is when Black Lives Don’t Hardly Matter to those in the media when a promised young black female of a good future is gunned down. Or a common place when a black young male is STILL on the list of being endangered species and being someone’s target to be picked on like in high school. Or have a negative breath that the Church going folks deserved to be killed (like last year) and partially nobody cares!

Well I have a bone to pick here Ladies and Gentlemen, sometimes “we trip” ourselves because whenever we read about so and so’s deaths about those being overshadowed, we get this attitude like it’s skipped over! Don’t act like we know, because when ever we read about a tragic occurrence, or a unexpected death of a young black person, or groups that been targeted so many times and it’s forgettable.

All occurrences no matter how hidden or forthcoming, needs to be clarified, summarized, questioned, concluded and also it needs to be to a point that many MUST GRASP! No matter who or what! This shooting that happened in Orlando is just as bad as if someone lost their son or daughter.

Hold up! Wait a minute!

The victims were someone’s Sons and Daughters! Nevermind their life styles or what made them Gay or Lesbian, they were someone’s family member, probably a well known family member that probably helped the kids’ homework afterschool. Come on now! We KNOW THIS!

Just a sidenote: there were some black LGBT folks and those related to the folks,  in that club were murdered by the senseless act. As an example look at the pics. Especially a recent High School grad, Akyra Murray. She was 18 years old. And again just graduated High School. A mother of 11 Children, Brenda Lee Marquez McCool was 48 years, whom beat cancer TWICE was also killed by the gunfire. And she died by protecting her son Isisiah in the shooting.

And also for some of the positive news, there were lives were spared, thanks to the medics whom saved lives. And also a US Marine had a hand in the life saving too.

Whenever those of us think about that, it does hit home. No matter what.

Now again when it comes to the church, I know there are those who hate the idea of the homosexual thing being a sin. It’s not godly. It’s not how the Bible works. And yes there are those who use the Good Book in a way like a forceful weapon! And I know this is the part where those leave the church and become this “free thinker” person thinking that they know everything. After being in church for a few years with family. REALLY!

Is that all they know?

With the money and that car?

What about the house?

I hate to say this, but with the old tired viewpoint of being conscious is getting so OLD!

Come on Black Militant Conscious folks, you need to wake up! Not just wake up, BUT REALLY REALLY WAKE UP!

MAJOR CALLOUT: What about the church folks who do the worship thing on Sundays, and are active in trying to do the worship thing right? Trying to do the things right and helping the folks out everyday, doing the help all this time, and fellowshipping with those that need fellowshipped, and you (those doing the church hating per se) STILL don’t give them the benefit of the doubt? What does that say about you? Yeah think about that! Reverse treatment is now in play.

Guess what?

I’m part of that group of church folks that wants to reach out without any hypocritical attitudes just to make sure that it’s done right!

I’m a 4th Generation United Methodist Church members that has the “Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors” ethology. Along with “Rethink Church” and now with “Church can happen anywhere” things. Yes church can be anywhere, even at a Gay Nightclub.  Or at someone’s house that doesn’t believe in God, or in someone’s presence that wants in but not sure. Or yes, EVEN the overly conscious that has “Stay Woke” on a shirt with those being “Pro Black” in a militant type of behavior.

That mentality I got now, is what I’ve learned from my parents, my late grandfathers and grandmothers and others that stayed close to home.

For my LGBT folks reading, yes I’m a church going person. I may not be the most spiritual servant, but I’m hypothesizing the cause to help me to help those like you. I don’t care about your lifestyle. I don’t care when or how you came out. I don’t care about the Festivals you inspire. I don’t care what Pride Parades you’ve been in to organize, or worked in. I don’t care if you still like Hillary Clinton or despise the effects of Donald Trump! I don’t care if you think all churches are lumped together, which they are not!

All I care is that you continue to “do you” no matter what happens! And when you do you, none of that matters. Of course there will be those who will not understand. And yes, you know this. But knowing this, I don’t care what your lifestyle is. But if I come to a Pride Party with a Nikon Camera, and I’m snapping pics away for $100.00 for 3 to four hours, would that be beneficial of me as a Single Black Christian Church going person being constructive?  Or will that benefit me just because of me sharing my talents?  Or just in general?

I’m just asking. And yes the golden rule still stands. And the God that is well known doesn’t hunt out the the folks that have a gayness attitude that harbors and goes for the kill!

On a side note, I visited Orlando twice in my life. I’ve been to Disneyworld in 1985 at nine years old, and Universal Studios. Plus partied along with the Tom Joyner Family Reunion Crew in 2009.

Orlando, you have a nice city. Let me comeback for a third time visit!

In the coming week, even though we are praying for those to get through this tragedy, let us be mindful that these words will still ring out:

THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES!

This probably might not set well with those of my demonination. But this will get an attention: The demonination of the United Methodist Church. Right now in Portland Oregon, there is the General Conference taking place and in this conference, like many will see monthly will talk about the decisions made to see where the direction of the UMC might go in terms of variety of topics, concerns, groups, or many other aspects. The actual defininton is as follows courtesy of the United Methodist Church:

The highest legislative body in The United Methodist Church. The voting membership consists of an equal number of clergy and lay delegates elected by the annual conferences. General Conference convenes every quadrennium (four years) to determine the denomination’s future direction. It is the only body that can speak officially for the denomination.

This we know mostly.

But this is not what I’m talking about.

The main concern of all of this, is what happened in the pause of the moment concerning this demonstration:

Yes, what you are looking at is a protest and demonstration of the actions of Black Lives Matter. Yes, the movement has now reached the door of the United Methodist Church. And I have to say, with all what’s going on with use of some of black UMC churches with some elements of the LGBTQIA folks in the mix of concern, this is another conversation that the church MUST ADDRESS! We need to wake up!

Now there are those either in The United Methodist Church and outside of the Church are on the side of “Oh look the UMC Members got those BLM Gangsters in there conference. Very hypocritical. ALL LIVES MATTER!”

REALLY?!

I need to tell you so-called “All Lives Matter” vocal fans that when you mention that in a sense, don’t you dare EVER say or think that notion. Obviously, you really don’t know what ALL LIVES MATTER means yourselves. You probably might bust out all the “I got Black Friends” speeches, and again spar up the ol’ MLK Speeches about color and character. I’m going to bust heads open: Clearly many of you saying this or implying this, and it doesn’t matter if you are UMC or not, you are part of the problem! Yeah I said it! And for far too long, black folks’ voices and concerns have been NOT heard, or spoken to address the situations of what is really taking place! Racism, Sexism, targeting those whom are innocent and Black, effects of Slavery,  the new Jim Crow, and those whom are refusing service due to being black. Think about it! And it happens in 2016. And a long time.

And don’t bust the comments of “black on black crime”please. It’s not here for it. Not once here also, there weren’t any commentaries of “white on white” crime. Which does happen by the way!

Here in Wisconsin for example, there are “alleged angles” that Black Churches in UMC were and are under attack  about subjects or concerns that were hitting the fan! Even also if the church’s pastors who have served A LONG TIME, got the boot to make way for those whom are younger and appeal to the current era of worshipers. And sometimes it might take a black D.S. to do the dirty work. Even taking out mininsters who have all the credentials and acculades, and black and sometimes disabled are being shut down to be lay leaders. There are only a few BLACK United Methodist Churches in Milwaukee know about this too well similarly. One former UMC black pastor was ousted forcefully on “inappropiate purposes” due to the fact the church previously served, was in (in the D.S.’ words) declining numbers per say and is now out of the UMC doing his own church ministry. Other ministers probaly felt the shifts and left. And on a side note, I have a connection to these churches because again, I grew up United Methodist and one of the UMC Churches I go to has been in business since 1949 in Milwaukee. And at times, I hate to say that there was many times that the Wisconsin Conference (with all due respect on the nice things accomplished) has NOT had the back of these Black UMC’s! I believe it’s time from the TOP ON DOWN that the Bishops and many other districts NEED TO HEAR the concerns about the Black United Methodist Churches that is ongoing and hidden to talk at the table. And not to be left out of the talk period. The last bishop, whom was black, LISTENED to us Wisconsin UMC black folks of our concerns. Period!

And I say this unapologetically, as a 4th Generation Member of the UMC.

This mix of Black Lives Matter and the General Conference of the UMC appears to the haters like oil and water. But when those say “All Lives Matter” is nothing more than a mere smoke screen with White Supremacy. That’s right I said it! On the pic, there was a sign that read All #BlackLivesMatter, and below: it listed the items: Bisexual, transgender, poor, heterosexual, lesbian, gay, disabled, women, men, young, and children. Well, I have to say again, this might not sit well with the rest of the denominaton, but the talk of the concerns in our Black UMC Churches and Black UMC things  MUST BE ADDRESSED MORE! Just like the others.

I know we got the BMCR. And for many many years the BMCR has addressed the black concerns in and outside of the church. But I think NOW the BMCR and the high authority of the UMC must address the issues of Black Lives Matter as well as any other Black concerns that the high leadership of the UMC MUST LISTEN!

We are all suppose to eat, sleep, breathe, drink, pray, worship, spread the good news, and fellowship as God’s Children, right? We know we do. But many of us need to be reminded of that. And even though that many do follow that notion, some of us I hate to say need the “Come to Jesus meeting”. Even if you say “All Lives Matter!” in a sarcastic, anti-conscious and threating manner. But you know the All Lives Matter, MATTERS to God. Just my opinion.

For those that lead the fight or this new fight in the UMC, I say as a black man that is a member of the UMC, out of Wisconsin, 4th generation in all: that is what the fleek I’m talking about! My childhood Pastor said in a sermon, “Speak truth to power, and power must listen!”  Don’t hold back nothing but the butt naked truth! Let them know!

Mad respect to those who lead that protest. Mad respect to the Black Pastors and Associates that did this! I’m assuming that the spark from that Black Lives Matter demonsration will be the new fire that many United Methodist Churches of Color must pass along!

Enough with the sitting quietly and listen. But even silence, will spark also new voices to commence.

Like the pastor said at the end of the protest, “this is our church as much as it is their church.”

As it should be.

Can they get an Amen?

Read more about the protest here via the Reconciling Ministries Network and the United Methodist Church News.
