I was going to write about something else about the happenings in Wisconsin, but I’m going to save that. Many of us who were paying attention to the USA Today newspaper or website today, we were probably reading about a certain rap artist who is back in the news again. No not Kanye West and “Yeezus”. If any American who is well “Way overly Patriotic” then yes, you must be mad at Lil’ Wayne. If you don’t know take a look at the comments and also the story. I mean I read comments from “he’s a disgrace to America” to “hang him.” Let me go here:  “Whuuuuuuuuuuuut?” Hang him? Hang him for what? And I dare must comment that the response didn’t come from person of African Descent. But the comment in the story that was positive:

I’m in the USA army 2 tours and I don’t see the problem,” wrote Jonathan Jones. “Half u on here being negative claim u love this country but what have u did for it. America is the best country in the world but that doesn’t mean we don’t have issues. So Lil Wayne do u bro that’s one reason we fight freedom of speech.

And again: the 4th of July is coming.

Seriously, when stuff like this happens, we get defensive. Now if you see folks from other countries who hate America, guess what they do the most? They burn the flag in protest. Some of us actually get a reaction and defend. But when it comes to Lil’ Wayne stomping on the flag in this country, plus he’s black, and a well known hip hop artist? Here come the “defenders” who feel that the American Flag is like the Sacred Talisman or something. The American Flag is no talisman. Period. Those who say they want to hang Lil’Wayne for his act, to me,and I’ll say it here: that is just opening more of weakness of America that continues to cut more into racism. Again, go read the comments. From those who are Overly-Patriotic and those who believe it or not that are currently serving. Most of the commenters probably didn’t understand the use of the the word of America of “Amerikkka” Now for those who are just wondering, why would those who want to spell America like this? Well, put it this way: America as great and young it is, it had issues of slavery, bombing other countries that had no business getting into, there was a time that if you had an encounter with the American Legion and if you didn’t love America, per say, you would had to be forced by the fist of them to say you love America. In other words, you would have to be punched in the face. Or like the scene from Rush Hour 3 when Detective Carter had to make the cab driver sing the National Anthem and say he loves America. Oh go back and see it!

Now, from Lil’ Wayne’s point of view in all of this:  He writes from his Facebook Wall in which today he comments:

It was never my intention to desecrate the flag of the United States of America. I was shooting a video for a song off my album entitled “God Bless Amerika”. The clip that surfaced on the Internet was a camera trick clip that revealed that behind the American Flag was the Hoods of America. In the final edit of the video you will see the flag fall to reveal what is behind it but will never see it on the ground. In most people eyes including my own who were raised in that environment, the Hood is the only America they know and the only America I knew growing up. I was fortunate from my God giving talents to escape the Hood and see the other beautiful places this country has to offer but most people who are born in that environment don’t get that chance. That’s their view of their America. That was Dwayne M Carter from Hollygrove New Orleans view of America. That’s who I’m speaking for in this song.

So in his viewpoint, he was describing the America that most know from the underside. In terms of  barriers of hate, racism, violence, and hard struggle, but was able to see the country that most of his friends, or family members didn’t realize before. So yes he had a rough beginning. No white picket fences in a nice neighborhood like most who feel that it’s all milk and honey. Even countries like America have to realize that yes, it’s greatest nation on earth. But there are those who use racism to view President Obama as a common enemy. African-Americans or People of Color as a enemy of not getting jobs, housing, healthcare, education, or many other important viewpoints that most should be getting fairly! Or discriminating because of gender, economic status, or sexual preference – this means if you’re straight or part of the LGBT.

And again: the 4th of July is coming.

So we’ll see about this protest. The last rapper that got the “respect America” treatment, was Soulja Boy. Ya’ll remember that? How long was that protest, like 3 weeks? What is the latest stat on his story right now? Just my point.  Plus also this latest Lil’ Wayne thing will not last long. Give it about 3 or more weeks. Shorter about 6 weeks. And will we be talking about it more? Probably not. Some might hate on Lil’ Wayne, for about a few weeks. Then go back and buy his joints on CD’s or digital downloads. And plus dude has a college degree, unlike the Governor from Wisconsin, Scott Walker who just has a high school diploma and wants to mess up the Badger State. Or like that dude Edward Snowden who wants to be called “whistleblower” all because of hating on the Government. He climbed all the way to a point of him doing his craft in which is now might cost his chance of further employment. And the dude climbed up with a GED and is not in jail. Go figure.

Just commenting.

Extra bonus: Check out the video “God Bless Amerika,” the finished product. And see it from his angle.
