The best, worst and flat out ugly of 2007!

The Year of 2007 is coming to a close. Thank God! This year was more of a roller coaster ride from hell,  than a smooth ride. In such, the year had it challenges even more than the previous years. Hopefully, can 2008 could be a thing in which we could say that this is much better? Or the same as 2007?  It’s time to unveil my best, worst and "should have nots" of 2007:

The Best:

Wii/XBOX/PS3 – The Nintendo Wii ruled. No questions asked.

Plasma TV’s – I got mine. Do you?

IPODs – They turned 6 years old, and still useable. Dang, I should get one! Can a brother get a one please?

DVD Recorders – It is time to put away the VCR! And add the HDD to it!

Video Games – The systems of Wii/XBOX/PS3 have made headlines, but so far the Wii is good. Plus video games like Madden, Redsteel and Halo are getting reviews. Also Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 is good game to play. For PS3, Heavenly Sword is a great game to tackle.

Milwaukee Brewers – Good season, although they have ended up with the first place, goat cursed Cubs.

Tiger Woods – Still Dominant in the Golf Game and athlete of the year.

Wisconsin Badgers Football- 2ndYear with Bret Bielema as the head coach who took Badger Football to an 9-3 Record. Not bad. But…….They should have remained the best in the nation with their win streak.

Marquette vs Wisconsin: The state rivals of basketball will never be the same, but it was cool to see 2 of the top schools in the state go head to head. Keep it going, again!

Milwaukee Bucks: Slow Start and a new coach, Larry Krystowiak.

Green Bay Packers: Mike McCarthy has established a winning attitude in the team. Plus Al Harris, Donald Driver, Brett Favre and Aaron Kampman were voted in the 2008 Pro Bowl. They also ended the season with a 13-3 record. But……they should have beaten those hated Chicago Bears!  Favre on the other hand became the all-time winnest quarterback, and scored more TD’s breaking Dan Marino’s record.

Kobe Bryant – He and Team USA in the World Championships of Basketball proved that they can hang with the other countries. And they qualified for the 2008 Summer Games!

Boston Red Sox/Indianapolis Colts/San Antonio Spurs- Champs.

Tony Dungy/Lovie Smith – First time in Superbowl History that two black coaches went head to head in Superbowl 41. Coach Dungy won the Lombardi.

All is Fair in Love in War…………….

Joss Stone – She has a terrific voice.

Timbaland – The Way I Are is good club joint. No Doubt.

Souja Boy – Who can dance to that?

Jill Scott – The third album is not bad at all.

Alicia Keys – talented. That’s all needs to be said.

Jay-Z – His American Gangster CD proves that he is not done yet! Musically that is.

R. Kelly – "I’m a Flirt" was a tight jam this year.

Prince – His Planet Earth CD was decent.

Mary J. Blige – See Alicia Keys.

Kanye West – His wager against 50 Cent was a barn burner, but "Graduation" soared.

Amy Whinehouse – talented but still yet to be proven.

Shop Boyz – see Amy Whinehouse.

WWE- And the wrestlers visited Iraq and the troops for Christmas for the fifth time. Also the WWE lost some key players on their roster: Cryme Tyme and Chris Masters were let go this year along with King Booker/Queen Sharmell. But the punishing blow to the company was the death of Chris Benoit in June.

WWE Hall of Fame: Mr. Fuji, Dusty Rhodes, “Mr. Perfect” Curt Henning, The Wild Samoans, Jim Ross, Jerry “The King” Lawler, The Original Sheik, Nick Bockwinkel

John Cena- Solid year as 2 year reign as WWE Champion.

Shawn Michaels/Triple H – D-Generation X is back again. Triple H wins the WWE Championship for the 11th Time.

Ric Flair – Still Going. But for how long?

Kane – He has recent big brawls between Big Daddy V and Mark Henry.

Chris Masters – Who can still break the masterlock? See Bobby Lashley.

Chris Jericho – Y2J returns. The code has been broken.

Bobby Lashley – Chosen by Donald Trump for Wrestlemania 23.

Carlito – Teaming with Santino Marrella?

Candice Michelle – Brewcity’s own is still too hot. Even as Women’s Champion.

Ashley – Had a good fanbase in the ’07 with London/Kendrick, plus being on Survivor.

Eve – The new Diva will need a fanbase for ’08.

The Highlanders- They had a heel turn, but should be making a run for the tag team gold.

Cryme Time- JTG and Shad were making ratings in the company. Now they’re gone.

Randy Orton – So the Legend Killer is the champ. Big deal.

Edge- Edge “stole” the World Championship 3x this year, hooked up with Vicki Guerrero, and teaming up with RKO to form Rated RKO for RAW‘s 15th Anniversary Show

Batista: Back as the Champ, and went to war against Undertaker.

The Undertaker- may I say, 15-0 at Wrestlemanias  by defeating Bastista for the World Championship, and winning the Royal Rumble at #30.

JBL – Now a commentator, but returning to RAW.

Rey Mysterio- The 619 is back at Chavo Guererro.

Chavo Guerrerro-Still keeping the family name alive. Apparently.

Krystal – Marrying Teddy Long

Bobby Lashley/John Morrison/CM Punk – ECW Champion

Kelly Kelly – She had a thing for Balls Mahoney?

Big Daddy V – an extreme look for Mabel, er Viscera.

The Boogeyman – He’s coming to get you, again!!!!!

ECW as whole – now partnered with Smackdown! And Armando Estrada is the GM.

Best WWE PPV Highlights

Wrestlemania – The showcase of the immortals had great matches and moments. Has to be the best PPV of the year. Taker’s 15-0 streak, 3nd Money In The Bank Ladder Match, WWE Championship, World Championship and, etc.

Survivor Series – The Hell in the Cell which was the final showdown with Batista/Undertaker, Triple H/Jeff Hardy surviving their match, and the returning Edge screwing the Deadman

Summerslam – The Return of Triple H

Royal Rumble – Undertaker wins the rumble at #30.

New Year’s Revoloution- Cena beats Umaga.

Backlash- Cena rules again, surving a fatal four way match

Vengeance- A night of champions that Candice Michelle won the women’s title.

Unforgiven – The deadman returns, by beating Mark Henry.

Cyber Sunday – Batista regains the championship by beating the Undertaker for the first time.

One Night Stand – Cena beats The Great Khali in a extreme match, handing him his first loss.

No Mercy –  This was the first PPV without John Cena. But Randy Orton/Triple H went back and forth for the Championship.

No Way Out – Batista proves that he did get the Deadman’s number

Great American Bash – John Cena vs. Bobby Lashley

Judgment Day – Three against one – Team McMahon vs. Bobby Lashley; John Cena vs. The Great Khali

Armageddon – Edge “steals” the title again with help from look-a-likes.

Apparently , Television has been on the back burner due to the writer strike. But before the strike, TV shows like Desperate Housewives, The Sopranos, Tell Me You Love Me, Big Love, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Real Time were burning up the charts in TV. Still other shows like Everybody Hates Chris still remained good. Also, MyNetworkTV revealed Jail and The Academy through reality shows. Remember Anchorwoman? No one does exactly. That was one show that came in and out after a 1.0 rating.

Movies: All I can say – The Kingdom, The Simpsons Movie, Transformers, War, WildHogs, American Gangster, Rush Hour 3 and Norbit seemed to peaked in the theaters. And Jennifer Hudson and Forrest Whitaker took home the Oscars in February, which marked 5 years after Halle Berry and Denzel Washington.

In the world this year….

Virginia Tech is rocked with violence on campus.

It’s hard to find a house – Mortgage Prices were weary.

Mattel Toys have lead parts from China

The troop surge was in full effect in Operation: Iraqi Freedom

Facebook and Microsoft teamed up

Detroit is the #1 city in the U.S that is labeled the most violent. ; Milwaukee is ranked number 36.

Milwaukee is the #2 city in the U.S. that is Unemployed and Number 8 in Poverty

Oil Prices were sky rocketing up to 3.00 a gallon.

Wildfires in Montana and California ravaged both states.

Those who hung it up and or moved on….

Chief Nan Hegrety, Alberto Gonzales, Priest Holmes, Jay-Z, DeMarco Morgan, Carl Rove, Chief Edward Flynn, Bob Harlan – all retired for family, and or new expeditions.

My Best:

Visiting Lake Shore Park at the port of Milwaukee

Revisiting Summerfest and African World Festival

Going out with family in Ionixa, Wisconsin.

Going to the Brewers Game on Memorial Day.

Finally getting exposure for jobs

Rededicating to the Church and assisted the production of Men’s Day, Women’s Day, and the Chruch Anniversary.

and now, The (Absolute) Worst: Things also should not have happened in 2007!

U.S. Government – During the surge, US Troops body count reaches past 2,000+ Even Bush opinionated about war progress.

Don Imus reveals about the Rutgers Women’s Basketball Team as nappy headed ho’s. Stupid!

President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela disses Bush, again!

Hip Hop – There was debate this year whether or not hip hop is responsible of the decay of American Society.

Barry Bonds/Roger Clemens/Marion Jones – All admitting guilt of HGH and they supposed to be role models?

2007 MTV VMA’s – Why was Britney on the show?

The attack on Christmas. Here we go again. – This is getting old man!

Rosie O’Donnell/Elisabeth Hasselback/Donald Trump – No View but crap.

Box Office Movies –   Spider-Man 3

Wesley Snipes – Tax problems

NFL: Michael Vick – The dog fighting issue. That’s a disgrace.  Since when did referees horse-collar linebackers like Nick Barnett?

NBA – No Comment.

Ald. Mike McGee, Jr and Sr. – No Comment. Period.

Kid Rock/Tommy Lee/Vanessa Hutchens/Adrienne Curry/Misha Barton/Nicole Ritchie/President Bush/Yung Joc/OJ Simpson/Sen. Craig/Lindesy Lohan/- Note to self. Watch yourselves because there are consequences. Especially you, Adrienne!

Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett: These guys stopped the Milwaukee Connector project in fearing that it would irrate tax payers. Should have thought about jobs, folks!  For Walker, he also wanted to cut more bus lines, raise bus fares, cut some of the programs that some middle class citizens, and the poor would have access to. Not cool!  As for Mayor Barrett, he knows better.

My family reunion was not a go this year to Altanta. What a waste!

Gas Prices – still, no comment.

Blacks and Unemployment in Wisconsin. –  More jobs are needed here. Come on! Milwaukee is ranked number 2 unemployment. Unacceptable! Plus the debate about whether or not Wisconsin is good for black people.

The debate of the Big Ten Network and the NFL Network. Cable needs to negotiate something.

The September 18th "Diverstiy Career Fair" in Milwaukee was flat out horrible. Mostly those employers who were looking for candidates  that had experience than those who didn’t. Plus not everyone wasn’t dressed up for it.

Primerica – No way. Never again I will not take a job that is $200.00 to start out.

Milwaukee in General – There were still talks about race relations. Specifically among Blacks, Whites and Latinos. The talking is continuing, but the doing is the hard part. – See Frank Jude, Jr. and John Bartlett again, but this time, it’s the Police. And three of them will be jailed for 15 years.

Chase Bank – Got rid of them. Good riddance!

Britney/K-Fed – still separate. Now Britney’s sister is pregnant, and the mother writes a book of parenting?

Paris Hilton – Oh now she’s found God after her Prison term.

Linda Hogan – Divorces from the Hulkster by a California newspaper.

School Closings – MPS had some more schools that were shutting doors this year, including 38th Street School. On the flip side, MPS asked for the tax increase to 16% to give taxpayers a look of dismay and disgust. Reason? Too many truancies and skip outs!
