James Brown – One Influence

Decemeber 25th was the day that Christ was born. It will also be the day that James Brown left us at 73 years old. He was one of the best entertainers of our lifetimes, and like me I was not around that long to know about the meaning of his music, and his passion for entertaining the fans in his 50 year career. No doubt, James Brown did influenced Gospel, R&B, Funk, Rock, and yes Hip Hop. "Funky Drummer" is the most sampled song from James Brown’s collection and widely used more in hip hop. Not only that, 90% of the songs that Rap Artists use mostly came from James Brown. My James Brown moments were Superbowl 31 when he performed at halftime, along with the Booze Brothers, (which was the same Superbowl that the Packers beat the Patriots) and also the 2003 BET Awards when he was received the Lifetime Achivement Award. During his performance, he performed It’s a Man’s World, and Get on up (Like a sex machine), but the climax of the performance came previously when LaToya Jackson met him backstage and telling him that someone special is going to present him with the award, that person, was Michael Jackson! I can’t believe it. Michael and James on the same stage, at the same time, doing the flaming flame. Unbelieveable. No doubt, that moment in time will never, ever be duplicated again! And I believe that it would be one of the most memorable images of all time.
