Posted: December 7, 2006 in Reflections

As my 20’s came to a close by Decemeber 4th, 2006, I have reflected on what was good and not good in my 20’s. They say that your 20’s will be a blur because when 30 hits, it hits!

In my 20’s I have:

  • Gone to college – Locally.
  • Started to use the Internet.
  • Owned a Pocket PC.
  • Started using a digital camera. Films are out.
  • Owned a Nintendo Gamecube, and played Madden, True Crime and Need For Speed. – also for PC Windows.
  • Gradutated from college/universities.
  • Used distance education to earn a bachelor’s degree.
  • Had several part-time, temp, seasonal, and full time jobs.
  • Held a MCTS Upass.
  • Earned scholarships.
  • driven a car (at age 29).
  • Earned my driver’s licence (at age 28)
  • Volunteered in the community.
  • Earned some income.
  • Opposed to accidents and "unfair attacks" from certain people.
  • Experienced unfair layoffs. No joke.
  • Attended a city inauguration.
  • Helped individuals to register to vote.
  • Joined a union.
  • Participated in a political rally – John Kerry that is.
  • Hang out with friends and family.
  • Witnessed a all-star baseball tie, a packer superbowl victory, a bambino curse lifted, 2 Wisconsin Badger Rose Bowl victories, a Milwaukee Bucks playoff run in 2001, 2 church Veteran’s Day celebrations, the party of the millennium on TV and with family, Terrorism on American Soil (9/11). Janet Jackson’s "accident", Michael Jackson attempeted comeback and not guilty verdicts. Plus he celebratred 30 years in the music business. Diddy making a apperance encourging voters to "Vote or Die".Also, I saw the reemergence of the WWF to the WWE which the name change was whack, but Vince McMahon restructred the nWo, Eric Bischoff, Evolution, Tribute to the Troops.
  • Created a website on UW-Stout’s web server, and a myspace page.
  • Developed plans to put St. James UMC on the Web.
  • Used this MSN or Live Spaces site for blogging.
  • Toured Detroit, and saw more of the history in Motown.
  • Visited a packer game at Lambeau Field.
  • New joints from Ciara, Usher, Jay-Z, Diddy, Lil Jon, Toni Braxton, Faith Evans, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Shanice, DMC, Jill Scott, Mariah Carey, Will Smith, Mary J. Blige, Ludacris, Jamie Foxx and many others come to mind.
  • A breakthrough in the Academy Awards: Denzel, Halle, Morgan and even Three 6 Mafia won oscars. An number of firsts.
  • Winter Olympics – Shani Davis, Vonetta Flowers, Garrett Hines and Reggie Jones – all african americans who became the first to win gold and or silver in speedskating and bobsledding.
  • Summer Games – by far, the best and worst for team USA in basketball.
  • Saw blockbuster movies such as the Matrix sequels, Kill Bill, Terminator 3, Superman Returns, Exit Wounds, etc.

In my 20’s I have not:

  • Gone through a marriage ceremony- to be married that is.
  • experienced a high school reunion.
  • Enlisted in the Armed Forces-although I do respect those who have done it, or willing to do it. Also some believed that I should try it. I don’t know!
  • Experienced prisonlife or Ganglife.
  • Experienced a car jacking.
  • Experienced an expulsion from a college/university.
  • Owned a Xbox, nor a Playstation 2.

Now, what to do in my 30’s? (xXx era)

  • Have a good paying job.
  • Buy a good furnished vehicle.
  • Get interested in stock. Mo Money! Mo Money! Mo Money!
  • Get involved with clubs and orgnizations.
  • Military? – I don’t know! Only if the war dies down, and the Army Drill Sergents don’t yell as much, but then again……
  • Marriage? – Can’t tell. Still skeptical about it.
  • Another college degree. Could happen if the "masters" are right.

No matter what happens, something good must come out of this!
